Jan and Richard had been pretty good at hiding their relationship. It was fresh. It was new. It was theirs.

For about seven days.

It all came crashing down on them after Jan had taken a nasty hit to the head during training. He had gone down like a tree and Richard’s heart stopped.

The smaller man ran forward, ignoring the questioning looks of their teammates. He vaguely remembered pushing Moe to the floor before kneeling down in front of Jan.

“Merde, jan tu vas bien?”

He gently cradled Jan’s head in his lap. There was a big gash on Jan’s forehead.

“Baby, you’re bleeding.”

Jan’s eyes widen, Richard froze realizing where he was. He looked at Jan’s eyes, mumbling a quiet apology.

“Baby?”

Suddenly, there was questions being yelled out form all directions and Richard looked like he wanted to run away.

Jan took his hand, rubbing gentle circles into Richard’s hand. Richard’s eyes soften, lifting their combined heads to kiss the back of Jan’s hand.

This caused the yelling to amplify and Jan deuces that was enough.

“Okay before we talk about this, can one of you kontkoppen help me with this… remember the person who got hit in the head.”

hmmm i really got to think about this one. i’ve been in so many fandoms i’ve lost track. i’ll go with my three most recent hyperfixations

first and foremost i’m in my hardcore royjamie phase. i absolutely adore them; sunshine x sunshine protector is my soft spot and these little idiot himbos are so precious to me. other ships i like in ted lasso are roy x keeley, richard x jan, tedpendent or even tedbecca, and sam x simi (we were ROBBED of them getting together). a rare pair i like from this show is bex x keeley. no they literally didn’t interact once but i’ve seen a few piece of fanart that show them bonding over being a little bit of weird girls and i love that bc i am also a weird girl teehee

rewatching teen wolf rn so also thinking about sterek, and allison x scott x isaac is growing on me a bit too. i also love erica x boyd very much. calm x crazy is so delicious. liam x theo is so adorable too.

i ADORE steddie, as well as byler and lucas x max, they are so so adorable to me. i need them all to end happy and ALIVE at the end of s5 or i might just die with them. i also really love robin x chrissy, and yes again they never interacted but LISTEN they got potential. i can also never say no to a food robin x nancy moment tho i do love nancy x jonathan too. but at the same time jonathan x argyle is such good food

When Jan steps out of Nelson Road and sees Richard standing in front of his car, absolutely drenched under the pouring rain, he can't help the laugh that escapes him.

"You look like a wet puppy," he says when Richard turns towards him with an affronted look, and makes his way towards him covered by the umbrella that he, as the sensible man he is, brings with him every day.

"That is a very rude thing to say to someone in a crisis," Richard says.

"I said puppy," Jan points out. "Puppies are cute."

"Still rude," Richard says with a shrug, averting his gaze to look back towards the car, where his keys are laying abandoned on top of the driver's seat.

"Locked your keys in the car?" Jan asks and Richard nods miserably.

"And of course, it is fucking raining," Richard groans, gesturing to the sky like this was a personal attack.

"I'll walk with you," Jan calmly offers with a small smile, moving his umbrella so that it's protecting them both from the rain.

"It's out of your way," Richard points out.

"And that's alright," Jan shrugs. "If you stop trying to fight the clouds."

Richard finally grants him a small smile and says, "I'll do my best."

who cries during movies: Jan tears up more often but tries to hide the fact that he's crying. Richard cries shamelessly but not as often.

who kisses more roughly: Richard. The French are a passionate folk is something that Richard routinely reminds Jan before moving their make out sesh into a much more intense one.

who is more dominant: This one's hard. I genuinely think they switch. They both really like to take care of the other one but also both like to have the other take control as well.

jan x richard headcanons bc i have to talk about them somewhere or i will literally explode!

jan always sends richard stupid pictures of like a dog and a cat cuddling in bed with the caption “us” and richard will reply with something dumb like “you wish” but he secretly finds it incredibly endearing and takes screenshots of the messages <3

jan keeps at least one bottle of wine in his fridge at his place (even though he hates how wine tastes and thinks it’s obnoxiously expensive) so richard can have a drink whenever he comes over

also whenever they sleep over at each other’s places richard always finds a way to steal jan’s shirt/hoodie for the night

while we’re on the topic . every hoodie richard owns was jan’s at one point

they call each other pet names in their respective native languages :3 … most commonly jan calls richard “liefje” and richard calls jan “mon amour” or “mon ange”

in the beginning jan was insecure about being in a relationship with richard because growing up he was never really that romantic and just generally never connected that well with most people …. even after they’ve been together a while he still gets nervous about not giving richard what he deserves … richard thinks it’s a silly fear for jan to have :]

at away matches they always find a way to sneak into each other’s hotel room at night! one time colin catches richard coming out of what he thought was jan’s room in the morning wearing only boxers and an oversized tshirt but he doesn’t even second-guess it bc sometimes he would go to isaac’s room when he couldn’t sleep so he just shrugs and moves on

richard has a whole playlist of french love songs that remind him of jan and it’s titled like “blonde idiot” or something

which reminds me RICHARD FLIRTS BY BEING MEAN! and once jan catches on he is just indestructible to richard insulting him … once in the locker room jan saw that richard was struggling to get something from his top locker so he reaches to get it for him and richard just scowls at him and tells him he is freakishly unnaturally tall and that he’ll probably die young because of it and jan just gets this stupid lovesick smile on his face and dani is watching it all like ?

jan’s love language is either physical touch or quality time . . maybe both . . he is a huge fan of spending a quiet night in cuddling in bed with richard :>

“You know, you guys should really see your faces. Actually I’m just going to get my phone out.”

Sam took his phone out, opening his camera and taking a picture that caused the flash to go off. The three men in front of him stopped glaring across the room and started glaring at Sam.

Sam threw his hands up.

“Don’t be mad at me, be mad at the fact that your respective boyfriends are just too attractive.”

Just then, Richard’s laugh floated across the room. Jan swore putting his glass on the table a little too hard.

“Verdorie, ik kan dit niet! I’m going crazy!”

Dani put a hand on his head, “you’re going crazy? I’ve had to watch that pendajo over there undress mi Jamie with his eyes for the past 10 minutes.”

“If that bloke leans any closer into Colin’s space I’m going to rip his arms off.”

Sam rolled his eyes, “guys, I’m pretty sure Colin, Richard, and Jamie know how to handle a couple of admirers, have some confidence in them.”

This calmed down the men a little but still they watched closely to make sure nothing went down. Sam had to handle as Isaac kept grunting periodically, Dani was swearing in Spanish under his breath, and Jan kept slamming his drink on the table. Finally, Colin, Richard, and Jamie seemed to be making their getaway and Sam could take a breath.

Only Sam’s peace was soon shattered as the three admirers were kind of annoyed that the football players were leaving as they tried to grab them back. This caused Colin, Jamie, and Richard to look for Isaac, Jan and Dani for help.

Those three saw everything that happened and made their way across the room filled with rage that has been stewing for hours.

Sam prepared himself to break up a fight that will definitely make front headlines tomorrow.
