Oscar: Are you sure you don’t want some sticky fingerprints on any of these paintings? It’s free! Noah: [gasps] Don’t hold him like that! Oscar: Why not? He loves it.
[HYSTERICAL GIGGLING]
Noah: [snorts] Be careful. Oscar: Mhmmm! We’ll leave you to do-.. whatever it is you do here. Noah: Alright, catch you later.
[HASTY FOOTSTEPS] Joslyn: Oscar, wait! Oscar: Hm?
Joslyn: Awh, I didn’t know you were expecting a little one; he’s the spitting image of you. Oscar: What do you want? Joslyn: I was running some errands first, but-.. I was actually on my way to see you.
Oscar: Why? Joslyn: Your plan worked; the feds finally took over after Spencer was arrested. Oscar: So? I’ve done my job; one I shouldn’t have had to do in the first place.
Joslyn: No one knew the extent-… Oscar: Well, they should have. That was their job, yours-.. but I guess everyone was too busy lining their pockets to give a shit. Joslyn: [sighs] We’d like to speak to Courtney.
Oscar: We? Who the fuck is we? You gave up-.. and let’s not forget the fact that I already told you everything; yet you did nothing. You don’t get to take an interest now that it’s over, I’m done-.. and you sure as shit aren’t about to involve Courtney. Joslyn: It’s not over, trafficking rings aren’t dismantled that easily.
Oscar: Dismantle the rest yourself. Joslyn: We will, but it’d be easier with your help-.. with Courtney’s help. Unless you know every detail of what she went through in Del Sol; who she spoke to, who she heard of, where she work-…
Oscar: Enough! She’s been through enough. [Robin whimpers as Courtney reaches for him; Joslyn hesitates, eyeing Courtney apologetically] Courtney: What’s going on?
Oscar: Nothing, we’re leaving. Joslyn: You wanted-… Oscar: Don’t act like I asked for this, you’re on your own.
Courtney: What’re you talking about? [Joslyn takes a breath, only to be interrupted by Oscar] Oscar: Do not.
Joslyn: The federal law enforcement agency would like to speak to you about your experience in Del Sol Valley. Courtney: Oh. Oscar: Motherfu-.. don’t listen to her, let’s go.
Joslyn: I’ll leave you be, but please think about-… Oscar: Fuck. Off. Courtney: Oscar!
Oscar: Sorry… Courtney: After everything, why wouldn’t we help them? Oscar: It’s not our job, you don’t have to get involved.
Courtney: But it might help someone else if I do… That’s why you fought so hard, isn’t it? No one deserves that fate. Oscar: You’re my priority. Courtney: I’m lucky though, think about all those poor people who don’t have someone who’ll find them.
Oscar: Sleep on it at least. Courtney: Okay, let’s get her number before she leaves though. Oscar: [sighs deeply] You’re too kind for your own good sometimes-.. go on then.

do you think you could do something with dina? i never see anything dina related nd it sucks💔💔
You are so correct my love.
Volleyball Player!Dina x cheerleader!Reader
Reader is the cheerleader for the opposite team, but you were cheering Dina on the low.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The match was getting harder, sweat was running down Dinas spine, dark hair traped in a pretty ponytail, one you did for her.
-Your relationship with Dina wasn’t official, however, you were exclusive to one another.
-You met through a friend in common, Jesse was your childhood best friend, who was best friends with Ellie, who was friends with Dina.
-The four of you were always together outside of school grounds, but Dina and you just hit it off like no other.
-When you first met her you thought she was hot but as you two started to getting to know each other feelings flew out of your chest.
-You couldn’t resist how much you loved her, but you didn’t wanted to ruin the good thing you had going on with her and the friend group.
-Until you kissed her.
-And she got you screaming her name and coming on her mouth that same night.
-And thats how the situationship got to be.
Today was particularly hotter than other days.
The court was filled with tension, you wanted your team to win, but you were rooting for Dina.
They had 5 minutes left to end it and it seemed like your team was gonna win for a second, proudness washed over you.
But you caught Dinas eyes, desperation clouding her features and you wanted to make her feel good.
She looked you up and down, your very short skirt riding up your thighs and your orange crop tight on your tits.
She was devouring you.
Her team lost.
And after the final cheer you ran to the bathroom, -there you found Dina.
She took you by the wrist and flush you to her body, both sweaty, tired bodies eager to be together as much as possible.
“I am ver sad right now pretty” her voice sounded demanding and tired.
“Would you help me with that baby?” Her hands resting on your waist.
“Yes Dina, fuck…” her pretty lips latched to you neck, marking you, sucking and licking repeatedly and hurried.
“This one” she said pointing to the mark of her nibbled. “This one is for that girl, Joslyn?” You face puzzled. “My teammate?” Your eyebrows furrow. “Yeah that bitch.” She said giving you a spank on your left cheek.
“She was eyeing you the whole time, and you didn’t stopped her” her hand that was on your ass squeezed hard and moved your cheek up and down in desperation.
“This, this is mine okay?” Your eyes closed, and she took that opportunity to kiss you.
Heating mouths crashing with passion, wet sticky saliva mixing when your tongues licked each other.
“Yes, fuck Dina yes…” she giggled at that, “shit baby, too eager” she said when your hands traveled to her boobs.
“Maybe we should take this to my place?” You asked her with doe eyes. You didn’t need to do much to convince her, you had her in her knees already.
Muak this was hurried and kinda messy cause i am at work lol <3

Oh I’m very very interested in your nonfiction book recs 👀
EDIT: ykw I'm gonna make this a little more organized
I listed a bunch in this post (the last question) but lemme see if I have any additions because I know I was kinda trying to keep it short when I wrote that. (But that being said, that post is the Top Faves Of All Time, so go for those first.)
Freaky medical shit I also liked:
The Fever: How Malaria Has Ruled Humankind for 500,000 Years by Sonia Shah
The Barbary Plague: The Black Death in Victorian San Francisco by Marilyn Chase (I just read this a few weeks ago and OOUUUGGHHHHHH IT'S LITERALLY JUST. LIKE THE RESPONSE TO COVID.)
The Ghost Map: The Story of London's Most Terrifying Epidemic—and How It Changed Science, Cities, and the Modern World by Steven Johnson
Political shit I also liked:
Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century edited by Alice Wong
The Viral Underclass: The Human Toll When Inequality and Disease Collide by Steven W. Thrasher
Immigrants, Evangelicals, and Politics in an Era of Demographic Change by Janelle S. Wong
History I also liked:
Triangle: The Fire That Changed America by David Von Drehle
The Hamlet Fire: A Tragic Story of Cheap Food, Cheap Government, and Cheap Lives by Bryant Simon (between those two you can tell I was on a bit of a "workplace tragedies caused by lax regulations and bad management" kick)
The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women by Kate Moore (I think everyone knows about this book, including it for completeness)
Promised the Moon: The Untold Story Of The First Women In The Space Race by Stephanie Nolen
The Women's House of Detention: A Queer History of a Forgotten Prison by Hugh Ryan
Butts: A Backstory by Heather Radke (this is nowhere near as fun and cute as you'd assume from the title)
Memoirs I also liked:
The Less People Know About Us: A Mystery of Betrayal, Family Secrets, and Stolen Identity by Axton Betz-Hamilton (I read this before I really got into nonfiction and it was WILD, I tell people about it all the time)
The Best We Could Do by Thi Bui (this one is a graphic not-novel-I-guess-memoir)
Know My Name by Chanel Miller
Other:
Playing Dead: A Journey Through the World of Death Fraud by Elizabeth Greenwood
A False Report: A True Story of Rape in America by Ken Armstrong, T. Christian Miller
Lost Feast: Culinary Extinction and the Future of Food by Lenore Newman
It Came from the Closet: Queer Reflections on Horror by Joe Vallese
AND here are a few on my TBR that I'm really excited for! I decided not to categorize them because they're almost all history:
Silk and Potatoes: Contemporary Arthurian Fantasy by Adam Roberts
Refusing Compulsory Sexuality: A Black Asexual Lens on Our Sex-Obsessed Culture by Sherronda J. Brown
All the Young Men by Ruth Coker Burks
The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara by David I. Kertzer (I am actually partway through this right now but in a bit of a dry/confusing section)
The Broadcast 41: Women and the Anti-Communist Blacklist by Carol A. Stabile
The Golden Thread: How Fabric Changed History by Kassia St Clair
A Woman of No Importance: The Untold Story of the American Spy Who Helped Win World War II by Sonia Purnell (have just barely started this)
Time to Dance, a Time to Die: The Extraordinary Story of the Dancing Plague of 1518 by John Waller
The Memoirs of Lady Hyegyŏng: The Autobiographical Writings of a Crown Princess of Eighteenth-Century Korea by Lady Hyegyeong
Miss Major Speaks: The Life and Times of a Black Trans Revolutionary by Miss Major Griffin-Gracy
Too Hot to Touch: The Problem of High-Level Nuclear Waste by William M. Alley, Rosemarie Alley (I'm in the middle of this but it's surprisingly, um. not exciting.)
Going Postal: Rage, Murder, and Rebellion: From Reagan's Workplaces to Clinton's Columbine and Beyond by Mark Ames
Pressure Cooker: Why Home Cooking Won't Solve Our Problems and What We Can Do About It by Joslyn Brenton, Sinikka Elliott, Sarah Bowen
Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder
The Fabric of Civilization: How Textiles Made the World by Virginia Postrel
Women's Work: The First 20,000 Years Women, Cloth, and Society in Early Times by Elizabeth Wayland Barber
Medieval Gentlewoman: Life in a Gentry Household in the Later Middle Ages by Ffiona Swabey
Hitler's First Victims: The Beginning of the Holocaust and One Man's Fight to End It by Timothy W. Ryback
I am soso normal and have very normal interests that are not at all grim :)

Feminists who identity their deep centering Selves with the term witch are not being merely metaphorical, or cute, or popularizing, or "trivializing." I suggest, rather, that the reverse is true: that to limit the term to apply only to those who have esoteric knowledge of and participate formally in "the Craft" is the real reductionism. This is the case particularly since the cult, as Murray demonstrated (perhaps inadvertently), has been strongly invaded by patriarchal influences.
Together with Robin Morgan, who has done so much both to elicit in women the wide and deep intuition of the meaning of Witch and to resist simple vulgarization, I hope that more feminists will give to the study of witches “the serious study that it warrants, recognizing it as a part of our entombed history, a remnant of the Old Religion which pre-dated all patriarchal faiths and which was a Goddess-worshipping, matriarchal faith . . . [reading] the anthropological, religious, and mythographic studies on the subject.” Hopefully, in doing so we will not sacrifice the original vigor and integrity that inspired the "New York Covens" in the late sixties to proclaim:
“You are a Witch by saying aloud, "I am a Witch" three times, and thinking about that. You are a Witch by being female, untamed, angry, joyous, and immortal.”
Many women have understood this identity of the Witch within, the Self who is the target of the fathers' attacks and the center of original movement. Barbara Ehrenreich and Deirdre English did much to spread knowledge among women of the role of the witches as midwives and healers, showing that their suppression coincided with the creation of a new male medical profession. In the early seventies, Andrea Dworkin named the witchcraze for what it is: gynocide. She showed its interconnectedness with other horrors such as foot-binding, fairy tales, rape, and pornography. Others have searched out pieces of the mosaic which are not easy to find.
Such works should be valued for igniting the Spark which inflames the desire to search further. There is much to be done. Working with increased confidence and precision, Hags must continue in the spiritual tradition of such visionaries as Matilda Joslyn Gage, continuing to uncover our past and paths to our future. This will be possible to the degree that we continue with courage in the Journey of our own time/space. Seeing through the fraudulent re-presentations of the witchcraze will help us recognize the tactics of today's Male Midwives, the professional Wizards who have unsuccessfully "succeeded" the Wise Women—the Unhealers of Modern Medicine.

And so that was winter for the Villareals! Luna still has her fear of ghosts, so I really am going to make ambrosia the goal of spring. I also think with Joslyn now moved out, I might be able to give Hannah more attention! I can't wait to visit these guys in the spring.
Though I have plenty of winter to get through first. Next up: the Titan-Ojo family.

I AM curious about Lyman Frank Baum's friendship with his mother-in-law, Matilda Joslyn Gage, because it always gets referenced in documentaries about him and I'm sure Gage had an influence on feminism in the Oz books BUT then at same time I'm told that Gage was an abolitionist and advocate for Native American rights and... how did that friendship WORK, exactly? Given Baum's outright advocacy for genocide and racism past the 1890s as well?
Was it a "we'll agree to disagree" thing?😒
Was Gage, like, nominally an ally but still racist in that particular white woman way?😒
Or did Baum become less racist because of Gage's influence? (Not excusing him of anything here.)
Like. What are the DETAILS? Are there any good books or journal articles that expand upon this?
@theglasscat @vovat any recommendations on the subject?

Nobody asked but that’s never stopped me anyway. So, here’s which queen from every season that I think is most likely to be on a future all stars season (no repeats/winners) with explanations that also no one asked for:
Season 1: Porkchop - I just feel like they’re priming us for her to be on either an AS or early-outs season and I think she deserves it
Season 2: Nicole Paige Brooks - it was between her and Mystique as the only ones left and Nicole has expressed interest in going back for AS, and with Poppy’s reunion look referencing her, she’s back on fans minds
Season 3: Delta Work - out of the queens that haven’t been on, I think she’s the most relevant other than Carmen, who has burned all the bridges between her and wow anyway. idk what standings she’s in but I could see it happening
Season 4: Dida Ritz - I’ve seen people campaigning for her to be on AS for a while now, and she’s always expressed a willingness to go if invited back. And while Willam is more popular, we can all safely assume that’s not happening
Season 5: Lineysha Sparx - like Dida, she had some good highlights but never really got her flowers (I’m noticing a trend here). No offense to Monica, because I am genuinely so excited to see her on AS8, but I am a bit surprised she was picked over her. But I will concede that I don’t know if she’s still active in drag, but a lot of articles had said MBH retired so 🤷‍♀️
Season 6: Joslyn Fox - I like her, I wanna see her back on. But this is one of those cases where out of the remaining queens from that season, she seems like the most likely choice unless the producers want a ‘do it for the meme’ route like with Serena and cast Kelly (who doesn’t need it and has a great resume on her own, but that’s how I imagine a show runner seeing it)
Season 7: Jaidynn Dior Fierce - another queen that fans have pointed out deserve another chance in the spotlight and there have been rumors that she’d been shortlisted once or twice. Kandy Ho was also shortlisted for what I believe was an early-out season, but I feel like between the two, we’ll see Jaidynn first
Season 8: Cynthia Lee Fontaine - this is, of course, contingent on her health being in a strong enough state to take it on, which isn’t a given, unfortunately. So, barring any health problem, I know Ru loves her and would bring her back
Season 9: Peppermint - at this point, I feel like they’re gonna give into peer pressure one of these days and finally cast her. I think a lot of fans feel that it’s long overdue
Season 10: Asia O’Hara - the only reason I put her as more likely than Kameron is because (I think) she’s expressed more interest in going back. But both of them did the Vegas show for a while so wow definitely likes them and is probably keeping tabs on them
Season 11: Vanessa ‘Vanjie’ Mateo - I feel like this is one of the more obvious ones, to the point where I’m actually surprised it hasn’t happened yet. My theory is that they’re waiting to bring her back when producers know she’ll go far (unlike with 11 where there were a lot of highs and lows without people really seeing her as ‘winner material’). I will, however, acknowledge the possibility that someone like Nina or Plastique could be cast before her
Season 12: Crystal Methyd - like Vanjie and Cynthia, it’s clear Ru loves her and production likely wants her back. That said, I do think she’s one of the queens that wants to put a little more time between her original season and AS, but there’s no other obvious choice. And knowing what I do know about AS shortlists, there’s a chance Rock or Dahlia may precede her if they do go an early-outs route
Season 13: Denali Foxx - again, I don’t know if she’ll be the next s13 queen to go on for the same reasons as Crystal, but I don’t doubt it’s inevitability with how much of a fan favorite she is. If I saw anyone getting cast before her, it could be Kahmora (see above) or Utica
Season 14: Any of the four runner-ups - I know, kind of a cop-out. But here’s the thing, the obvious answer is Kornbread, but she’s said she doesn’t want to go back for AS, but wanted to get another chance to compete in a regular season (which she should’ve!!!). So, Daya, Bosco, Camden, and Angeria all seem more or less equally likely if you mix both the fandom and production standpoints
Season 15: Mistress Isabelle Brooks - also kind of early to call, of course. But I’m not talking about who will be the first/next queen of a season to do AS, just who I feel like stands a good chance of being on one at some point. And I’m so sure they’re gonna wanna bring her back

New Muses: Estelle Bright, Elodie, & Mao/Hana
Tumblr media
Estelle Bright is a Bracer, daughter of famed Bracer Cassius Bright and adoptive sister of Joshua Bright in Trails In The Sky.
Age: 16
About: Estelle met her adoptive brother, Joshua, after her father Cassius brought him home from a past mission to take care of him. Estelle was surprised that her dad would just up and adopt Joshua out of the blue. However, she and Joshua warmed up to each other like family over time and is fairly close by the present day events of Trails In The Sky FC. After their father goes missing while on a mission, Estelle and Joshua set out ot find him—and also work toward becoming senior bracers along the way.
Estelle can be a bit naive about the world sometimes, but she makes it up in enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. She’s often quick to bounce back from failure and disappointment, though sometimes questions whether she truly has the skills fit to be a Bracer. In her pasttime, she enjoys fishing quite a bit.
She’s adept with physical fighting with a staff due to her father Cassius training her with such a weapon, though she can also use a variety of magic depending on which Orbments she has equipped during gameplay.
Please note: My adaptation of Estelle is based on her portrayal in Trails In The Sky FC and SC only along with several headcanons. I am currently playing through FC with plans to play SC soon afterward. Verses will be made and adjusted based on new headcanons I create and the gameplay progress I make over time.
Tumblr media
Elodie is the Princess and soon-to-be Queen (or, by post-game, actually Queen) of Nova in Long Live The Queen.
Age: 14-15
About: Elodie starts off as fairly timid and unsure of herself, still in the process of grieving her mother Fidelia’s sudden death. Even though her father Joslyn is trying to guide her to become a proper Queen of Nova, Elodie feels a lot of pressure to properly rule Nova - and honestly, she has a lot of work to do before becoming a proper Queen.
Even though she’s forced to take on a “mature” role of Queen so early, she still has “childish” joys of playing with her toys in her room, playing tennis or exploring, and eating sweets. Elodie has much potential to be incredibly kind, cruel, or both depending on the circumstances - and that will shape her reign as Queen of Nova going into the future—assuming that no one assassinates her before her coronation first, of course.
Please note: Since Elodie’s personality and endings can drastically change depending on the choices players make, my default ending/default verse consists of Elodie having massive approval among the commoners, gained access to Lumen magic and therefore became a Lumen (though not strong enough to fight Togami by the endgame at the time), and she sang to Togami and reasoned with him to stop the warring between Nova and Shanja (thus netting her the Angel ending). She also has not chosen anyone to marry at this time, despite the constant proposals coming toward her.
Tumblr media
Mao is the real-life person behind the Aikatsu Planet idol Hana in Aikatsu Planet! (Hana is pictured above)
Age: 15-16
About: Mao has prior experience in ballet, but stopped after her instructor moved away. As a highschooler, she admired the Aikatsu idols as they were also popular among her schoolmates. However, after the original real-life star behind the top star Hana, Meisa, goes missing, Mao was quickly asked by the agency managing Hana to (initially) temporarily step in for Meisa. Mao thought it would just be a one-time event, but nope—since Meisa’s still MIA, it looks like Mao’s idol journey might become a full-time opportunity!
However, there’s a catch—until the official announcement is made that Mao is the new face behind Hana, she has to keep her identity as Hana a secret until then.
Please note: Verses are to be determined and added in the eventual future as I, the mun, am still currently watching Aikatsu Planet at the time of adding this muse to the blog. I’m also fairly new to the Aikatsu fandom (Aikatsu Planet is the first in the franchise that I’m watching, though I have plans to watch the other Aikatsu series as well), so please be patient with me as I learn more about all the concepts and such involved.

Mikaela: WOAH! Look at all those tattoos! Joslyn: How many times do I have to tell you not to point? Mikaela: But look!
Oscar: Impressive, huh? Mikaela: Yuh! How many do you have? Did it hurt? Did you pass out?! Oscar: [chuckles] Lots, yes, and almost.
Mikaela: So cool. Joslyn: Sorry. Courtney: It’s fine.
Joslyn: I just thought I’d check-up-… Oscar: Uh-huh. Joslyn: Hah, half true; let’s talk.
Oscar: What’s the point? She already spoke to Bruno, it’s not like I can add much more. Joslyn: She’s more interested in you, to be honest-.. wants to talk to you off the record. Oscar: That’s.. weird.
Joslyn: Maybe it’d offer you some closure? Courtney said you’ve been struggling-… Oscar: Doesn’t she have a job to do? Joslyn: It’s not an overnight thing.
Oscar: I’ll talk to her when it’s over, how about that? Joslyn: Norma’s been in this line of work for over thirty years, Oscar; that someone could take down such a prolific organisation almost singlehandedly-.. it’s unheard of.
Oscar: [snorts] It’s not that impressive. Joslyn: Debateable-.. either way, she’d like to apologise for the fact that it wasn’t picked up as well. Oscar: And whose fault is that?
Joslyn: I’ll admit that I could’ve done more.. but I chose to put my family first, and I know you understand that. Oscar: Hm. Joslyn: I get that you’re suspicious of them, but they’re not the enemy you think they are.
Oscar: Neither is the mailman, but I ain’t about to tell him my life story. Joslyn: I think you’d feel better if you met her; I promise she’s on our side-.. think about it? Oscar: I might.
Joslyn: Courtney has her number, okay? Come on, you… Mikaela: Your baby’s kinda cute, but I prefer your cat. Oscar: [laughs] Thanks.
[Quiet parental muttering about not saying everything that pops into your head without thinking first…]
Oscar: You’re just as cute as Lou, aren’t you?! [Robin babbles enthusiastically as he’s swung into the air, reaching for Oscar’s stubble] Courtney: What was all that about?
Oscar: Norma wants to talk-.. I think he’d love it if I grew a proper beard. Courtney: Are you going to? Oscar: Maybe next winter, and I guess I’ll think about the Norma thing.

omg, hi!!!! I absolutely LOVED the Dina one-shot and I was wondering if you could write more about their situationship, maybe make Dina being all jealous and shit in a celebration party for their team winning or the reader seeing Dina with another gurl and start ignoring her and Dina having no clue of what she must've done and maybe a make up sex? pls pls I just need more dina fics😭😭😭
Hiiii, i didn’t saw your request until now sorry…
Kinda second pt to this
Volleyball!player!Dina x cheerleader!Reader
Cw: shitty writing lol, not proofread, fast make out sesh, girls kissing (😱), alcohol consumption (sorry) mentions of 🍃, not smut yet cause i hit writers block (again, i am so sorry to disappoint :((), kinda angsty, Dina is kinda troubled cause she feels guilty, she loves you but she just shy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your team decided to celebrate that same night the victory against Dina’s team, as a “rub it on their faces” kinda of party, inviting them all to it.
When you arrived to your house, all you wanted was to get a good bath and relax, however, your friends insisted that it would look bad for you not to be there.
So after relaxing and showering you came out with a towel and your phone, music playing from it to get you pumped.
You tossed to phone to your bed, going through your wardrobe, your phone ringed.
Once
Twice
Thrice…
So you choose to check it, you knew it was dina for you had another ring tone just for her.
At first it was to know not to open her conversation around your teammates, it slowly became the fluttering sensation of knowing she was texting you.
Din😮‍💨
Hey babe whatcha doinggggg??
I was thinking
Maybe some us time??
You💕
Hello hot stuff, just freshly out of shower yup 🤩
I actually was getting ready to go to the party, you know, for my team who won against yours??
You going??
You wanted to press every button of her, to get her as bothered as you possibly could…
Din😮‍💨
Nah, iont wanna go with a bunch of petty winners.
You💕
But amma be there… with this dress…
You tossed your phone back to the bed, grabbing *the* dress, soft fabric sliding on your body as you put it on.
You took a pic, she could see your pretty lips and neck, collarbones exposed and the dress on full display.
You
but anywayyyy, ill be there tonite.
She didn’t reply.
You didn’t though much of it, as you got a call from one of your teammates.
“Hey pretty, amma pick you up, i am two streets away, you better be out when i arrive”
She didn’t let you reply, it was a command not a request and you just giggled at her hurried tone, taking your keys and your purse with a lipgloss and your phone inside.
The ride only cheering you more, loud music blasting on the speakers and a few ciggs shared with your friends.
If your trainer knew you would never hear the end of it…
Arriving to the party was fast, music blasting and people drinking all over.
Your team greeted you all with loud screams and shiny grins.
You scanned the room with your eyes, not a Dina on sight…
Boring.
You walked amongst your team, greeting friends around but going straight to the kitchen were the drinks are.
Thats when you bumped on Joslyn.
Her long and strong hands took a glass from behind you, getting closer to you body.
“How you holding up pretty?” Her voice was low and raspy, and as much as you thought she was pretty, she didn’t made you feel what Dina did.
She didn’t made you stomach flutter and your knees weak like dina does even just by looking at you.
Her eyes didn’t sparked the fire in your gut like Dina’s do.
Her hands didn’t make you feel like a burning wildfire that booms with every brushing of her touch.
But still… you agreed to her requests at dancing with you.
Few songs in, and a couple of glasses down.
Your head was spinning, Joslyns hands on your hips, swaying to the beat of the music till you finally saw her eyes.
Pretty brown orbs chasing you with disdain.
She wasn’t mad at you.
No, she could never.
She was mad at the situation, how come neither of you were courageous enough to be honest with each other.
Why was now she at this party, partially high with her hands on this chick, dancing stupid, jealousy corrode through her veins while she saw you swaying your hips back and forward on this girl.
Eyes glued to hers while you took it as a challenge, both with other women while thinking of each other.
She couldn’t take it anymore, she excused herself to the nearest bathroom, either to cry, punch something or throw up.
Her mind was running laps of things she could say to, debating whether or not to tell you how she felt.
Cause if you felt the same how come you hadn’t say anything yet huh?
Like it’s not Dinas responsibility to carry what you to had to the next step, right?
Because if you needed her the same way she needs you, you’d had already do somethi-
“DINA, LET ME INNNN!!” your words running out your pretty mouth like chopped fragments of you wild mind.
“Dina, please, we umm… talk! We need to talk” every word came down to a hit on the door, desperate attempts to open the door and groans of failed attempts.
Dina opened the door right after that, getting you inside the bathroom with her.
Your pretty eyes scanned her body now up close.
Black skirt running up her beautiful thighs, her lace top plumping up her boobs and you almost went feral.
She looked as pretty as always but this time you couldn’t hide how hot and bothered you were for her.
Your hand moved upwards without your knowledge, caressing on top of her clothed breast.
She took your wrist with a swift motion that took you out of your drunken state.
Your body flushed on hers on the blink of an eye.
And she kissed you hard enough to melt, your legs felt like jelly.
Her hands gravitated to your ass while one of yours moved to her tit and the other to her lower back, feeling her picking nipples on your own.
Soft lips smacking to each other, delicious tongues playing and exploring the already known territory and sucking mouths that were melting on each other.
The kiss so heated that the saliva was drooping down from your chin.
She stopped you.
Hand on your ass and the other on your neck.
“Tell me what you want angel, please i meed to know” her mouth molding on to a frown that made your head fall to the side.
She looked to cute.
“I want you to fuck me”
Her eyes drooped down.
Why does she looks sad right now huh??
What else does she wants?
“Nothing more?” Her hand on your neck falling to your lower back.
What more?
Isn’t she the one that proposed to have this hidden thing?
The one that would come over and whenever you thought of getting raw and intimate with yours and her feelings she changed the topic to sex?
She basically silently told you all she wanted was a casual sexual situationship.
And at first it was fun and it didn’t hurt like this.
At first it was a challenge seen her “flirt” with the fans in the crowd.
At first it was exciting to just fuck.
But now, you just feel like a side dish, never the main.
You might be the favorite for a while but she still preferred others.
So you pushed her with the hand that was on her tit.
Your drunken state returning in shapes of tears that outed your aching heart.
Rapid thoughts razing in your mind while your heart was booming inside.
“More like… what?”
Your voice came as a whisper, the room felt like it was lacking oxygen, warm and cold at the same time.
“Like something more… important?”
Fuck her.
Your hand pointed at her.
“Oh now you want something more than this?”
Your voice cracking between your choked sobs, you couldn’t stop your crying and Dinas heart felt like imploding on her chest.
Her pain mirroring yours.
“I am sorry…”
“I need water” your voice almost inaudible, while your hand twisted the knob, leaving Dina behind to admire you leaving.
You ran straight to your friends to grab your things but they stopped you from talking with loud screams of “the queen is back” and “we missed you baby”’s
A shot of don cuervo was tossed to your hands while your smiling friends were counting down, their happiness sticking to you a bit, you choose to stay.
The music was booming and you had nothing to stop you from celebrating your and your team’s victory.
So you danced on, with, to and for every girl around, you saw Dina, looking at you from a corner while talking to one of her teammates.
You chooses to give her the entertainment she was craving.
You jumped on the bar table, dancing around and swaying your hip to the rhythm.
The dancing, the crowd, the alcohol and the cigs you had smoked before making you feel too warm and uncomfortable.
So you took your shirt off while the girls and boy cheered for you.
Dina was in between the crowd.
So you danced more sensually, you could see she was pissed, but the show was short lived when you tripped on a bottle and slipped down
Two girls sloppily caught you and Dina took you from their holdings giving the excuse that age was the “best friend” and they fell for it.
“Hey, princess you are a bit too drunk, let me get you back on your dorm” her voice was soothing and soft to your ears, your brain didn’t wanted ti remember why she was mad at Dina in the first place.
Not when she was this pretty, not when she looked this hot, and less when she felt this good.
She helped you out of the house while putting your shirt back on in the process.
Your protests against going with her, leaving the party so early and putting back on your shirt were answered by a few “ill get you back home, it is what it is” and a lot of sorry’s.
Waking up after partied wasn’t usually the part you were looking for, and less when you had drink this much alcohol with almost to no water in between the process.
Pounding head and dry mouth, your face felt oily and you just needed to shower.
You looked to your side, a note was left there, with your clothes from last night.
You looked down.
A pair of sleeping pants and and an oversized shirt, she had left you panties but taken your bra off, what gentlewoman, you rolled your eyes.
You stepped to the shower, wobbling legs and dizzy walk but you got there.
Warm water hitting your body just right while you choose your favorite shampoo, lathering it in your hands before massaging it in your scalp.
The relaxation getting the best of you, almost lulling you to sleep.
When you heard the front door it startled you a bit but you didn’t thought much of it, your roommates normally where very active in the mornings.
However, Not just the front door opened, after a few seconds your room door opened, you could hear the sound of steps and plastic bags getting planted on your side table.
The sounds stopped.
For a few minutes there was only silence. Silence that was cut down by the sounds of rattling paper.
You stepped put of your shower, towel around your body and dina sat on your bed.
“Hello pretty… i have breakfast for you.” Her voice became smaller with each word, her eyes were glued to the ground and she looked so adorable.
“What are you doing here?” Your question might have come out harsher than you meant for she now looked back at you, face tinted with offense.
“Sorry I was the one you had to see first thing in the morning, ill get it going.” She rushed to her feet trying to get out the door, you wanted to stop her.
But memories of last night hit you and you felt embarrassed and hurt, you felt too exposed so you just hurried to close your door and put on some clothes.
When you saw the breakfast your mind ran to giving it to your roommates and forget about dina.
Bu you couldn’t, your stomach was aching with hunger and it just looked so good.
You took a bite and you almost went nuts
The flavors were expanding on your louth and you felt this warm on your chest just to the thought of Dina going out of her way to bring you you favorite dish.
Your head went back after taking a sip of your water and when your focus returned to take another bit you realized the scrunched up paper that was just tossed in the ground beside the garbage can.
You took it and opened it.
The note that was on your bedside.
A letter.
My Dearest Love.
I just realized how stupid I had been.
How for a very long time i had left your feeling slip pass me like water being absorbed in the hot pavement.
Not giving you back what you were gifting me.
I love you, but I am a pussy.
So i cannot tell you this in words.
However, i know i had hurt you many times before.
So, if you choose your peace before me, I’ll accept with love.
Yours truly, Dina, the girl that wants to be yours forever but is too afraid to ask you.
You left your room right after finishing your very delicious breakfast, taking your car keys and igniting the engine like your life depended on this.
She might be very avant-garde (shit at writing) figurative speech, but you needed her and to make things better.
You got to her place in eight minutes when it normally takes you fifteen, might be illegal in some parts but she was worth jail.
You nocked without thinking, just pure adrenaline behind your eyes.
She opened the door, she was wearing an oversized band tee and a pair of white socks.
Her eyes opening wide when she saw you standing i front of her.
“I want to be yours too”
Tumblr media
(I want need her)
Next part to be the smut only?? (I hit writers block again) sorry :((

I am advocating the premise that knowledge is political. I am asserting that in a male-dominated society women do not control the uses that are made of knowledge. I am asserting that a fundamental use of knowledge in a patriarchal society is to enhance the image of men and to negate the image of women. I am asserting what women's resources are appropriated and used to find in favour of men and against women, and that much ‘valuable’ use is made of any negative evidence we may construct about other women. While it is not in our power (at present) to influence the uses made of negative knowledge about women, it is well within our power to refuse to make it available.
I am withdrawing my labour: a knowledge strike. As a political act (and with a considerable amount of pure, positive enjoyment which I can highly recommend) I will persist with the subversive practice of finding in favour of women - of constructing an image of women's force, as [Mary Ritter] Beard suggested - to counteract the patriarchal principle of finding, exclusively, in favour of men, and I will continue to do so (and to face the wrath of patriarchal gods of ‘objectivity’ and ‘truth’) until a more equitable balance of power between the sexes is realised. If and when the two sexes are judged equally, and by the same standards, I will be prepared to find in favour of each for 50 per cent of the time. However, while a patriarchal society insists on finding in favour of men - regardless of what they do - and insists on this practice as 'objective', I shall persist with my practice of finding only in favour of women and will insist - with equal justification, that this is objective.
I will not make such unsubstantiated (and stereotypical) comments as: Mary Beard's work suffers from ‘poor presentation’, that it is at times but ‘ill-tempered rhetoric’ which goes ‘too far’, for I understand that this ‘evidence’ can be used to exclude her - justifiably of course - from future consideration. I will, instead, assert the positive nature of her contribution. (And I will not - and have not quoted - the sources of such statements, so that it is very difficult for someone to take and use these negative comments.)
‘Essentially, Mary Beard invented the concept of Women's Studies and Women's History’, says [Gerda] Lerner (1981, p. xxii), and while I don't quite concur (Matilda Joslyn Gage, for example, gets no mention in Lerner's book), this simply helps to confirm how successful the process of erasure is. 'It was Mary Beard, first and foremost,' continues Lerner, ‘whose critique of an androcentric academic establishment led her to envision new models of education for women.’ Among her papers there is 'evidence of Beard’s efforts for starting a women's studies course at Radcliffe College and of her protracted work collecting sources for the history of women and establishing a Women's History Archive. I found here a two-page listing of questions, yet to be answered, about women in history, and I found a very few sentences which became my guidelines, as I tried to proceed in this endeavour. In a very real sense I consider Mary Beard, whom I never met, my principal mentor as an historian' (ibid., p. xxii-xxiii).
She made an enormous difference to Gerda Lerner's life: there are many more like her who could make a comparable difference to our lives - if we knew about them.

It was Joslyn's turn to frown.

I am happy to welcome Rebecca Olmstead to Escape With Dollycas today!

Hi Rebecca, Please tell us a little bit about yourself. I was born and raised in a small farming town in the Pacific Northwest. My greatest frustration as a child was not being able to read because no one had the time to read to me. But, once that magic door was opened, I was a happy camper. I’ve always loved the art of storytelling. I devoured all genres, but it was mystery that made me want to be a writer. What are three things most people don’t know about you? I am a 14-year cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with a sarcoma in my sacral nerve root in 2009, and was told if I survived, I would be paralyzed on my left side. I am a walking miracle. I spent a year in California when I was 21 pursuing my first dream of being an actress and have performed in many way-off Broadway productions. My fans know I crochet, but what they don’t know is that keeping my hands busy helps me focus, think, and plot. The afghans, hats, and sweaters are an added bonus. What books/authors have most inspired you? My biggest inspirations came in high school literature. Hawthorne, Falkner, O. Henry... But the author who impacted me the most was Ambrose Bierce, with his ability leave the reader wondering what had just happened. That’s what I aspire to in my short stories. My inspiration for mysteries began with Alfred Hitchcock’s Three Investigators and continues to be Agatha Christie and Patricia Wentworth.

What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book? Of course, my favorite research is traveling. I’m not as fond of interviewing people, but I do. For Dreams and Illusions, I traveled to Seattle, toured King County Jail and Police headquarters, and interviewed many law enforcement officers. I was so scared, but most people are very nice and are happy to share what they do. I also looked at apartments, and my personal favorite, trying out restaurants. A lot of my research is done on the good old internet or in books. And I research as I write. That way, I don’t lose my muse. I take as long as I need to make a setting or scene come alive in my mind and not just a cold description. I know if I feel it, my reader will. Do you ever suffer from Writer’s Block? I don’t. I have a very curious mind. My imagination helped me to survive a very hard childhood, and now it just makes life a little more interesting. I do, however, suffer from laziness. Getting the words on the page is a lot of work, but having fans asking when your next book is coming out is a great motivation. What advice do you have for someone who would like to become a published writer? At the end of the day, writers write. I started Dreams and Illusions thirty years before it was published. One reason for the long journey was that I was a busy mom. Too many times I put everything else before my desire to be published. Sometimes this was just watching TV. You have to make time for your dreams. No one will do that for you. Another word of advice is, don’t edit while you’re writing. I don’t know how many years I spent trying to make that first chapter perfect. Newsflash, it’s called a “rough draft” for a reason. Keep moving forward and don’t look back until you type those lovely words, “The End.” I also have to add, don’t overthink the process. Don’t overwhelm yourself. Take one step at a time. Write (and finish) the manuscript, revise, revise, revise, find a great editor, revise, revise, revise … if you look at the journey as a whole, you’ll start to think it’s too much and give up. One step at a time. When you are not writing what do you like to do? I’ve already mentioned crochet. I also love to sew, garden, craft, read, go camping, hiking, and fishing with my family, watch mysteries, do puzzles, and go antiquing (mostly for books). And of course, having coffee with my husband. If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why? I’ve just recently discovered my ancestry on my father’s side comes from a long line of Scottish royalty. I’d love to go to Scotland and visit some of my ancestral castles—and maybe get into writing some historical sagas. Do you have any special plans for the holidays? I’ve had quite a few surgeries this year, so the holidays will be low-key for us. Cooking, baking, eating too much, doing puzzles and watching cheesy holiday movies in front of the fire with my favorite people. What is next on the horizon for you? I’m currently working on two books. A nonfiction book giving young adults tools to defeat suicide, with plans for a 2024 summer release date. And the second book in my Gabrielle Dorian Mystery Series, Dreams and Deceptions, looking at a release in November 2024. Thank you, Rebecca, for visiting today! It was great to meet you and learn we have some things in common.  Keep reading for information about Malice, Matrimony, and Murder!

Top 5 memoirs to inspire your own creative projects:
1. Just Kids by Patti Smith This book is a poetic masterpiece. It is a glimpse into a chapter of supreme creativity and artistic collaboration. Robert Mapplethorpe and Patti Smith were fearless friends who helped each other develop their unique styles. You can imagine yourself sitting side by side with them in their room in the Chelsea Hotel while reading her vividly beautiful depictions. And it may even inspire you to make the most fearless work you've made yet! Thank you, Patti!

2. How to Grow Up by Michelle Tea Michelle Tea has a distinct style and hilarious perspective on her life thus far and all the changes she has made to become who she. I enjoyed every page of this book and took it everywhere I went. On a day I was feeling especially alone visiting the conservative neighborhood my parents live in, the cover inspired a lovely queer couple to stop and talk to me saying they needed this book with a sarcastic yet knowing glance! And this is so what would happen when you are reading a Michelle Tea book. She inspires inclusivity, queer community building, celebration, and self love! And becasue of that, I got to share one of my favorite things about her; her part in the creation of Drag Queen Story Hour at libraries everywhere! The couple loved it! Michelle reminds us that the world needs all of our stories and to be brave and tell them today! Thanks Michelle!

3. Drawing Blood by Molly Crabapple If you are craving travel without even leaving your home, this is the book for you. I was magically transported through Molly's colorful descriptions and details. And did I mention this book has pictures! Molly draws gorgeous illustrations and they are paired throughout the text in the most intreging ways. Go pick up this book at your local bookstore and share it with others. Molly's life is courageous and kind and it will have you making friends with your neighbors, going to protests together, and making your own advocacy art through her inspiration! You are one person but you can make a major difference in your own way and that is powerful. Thank you, Molly!

4. Wildflower by Drew Barrymore Wildflower is a collection of beautiful personal essays. I've been a life-long fan of Drew's work and this book is no exception. I bought the audiobook in addition to the hardcover at her book signing and am enamored by the writing she put together in this compilation! It has everything you want in a book; hilarity, sweetness, adventure, and heart. I even found out we have a soul connection in both being obsessed with Lake Winnipesauke! I spent nine life-changing summers on that lake at camp, some of which were the same years in the 90's she did. In another wonderfully watery story, Drew dives off the deck of a cruise ship into the open ocean and it's a must read! All of the essays speak to growth she has experienced in her life and I am so grateful she chose to share them so that we may be inspired to engage in similar ambitious pursuits. Thanks Drew!

5. Waking the Witch by Pam Grossman Pam's thoughtful memoir is wonderfully written and in addition to giving you a glimpse into the history of the archetype of the witch, it connected some dots for me. Pam's podcast, The Witch Wave, helped inspire a feminist roadtrip I took in 2019, the same year the book came out. I made my way to the home of Matilda Joslyn Gage, an abolitionist and stop on the Underground Railroad in Fayetteville, NY. Her nephew, L. Frank Baum wrote Wizard of Oz and she is thought to have been an inspiration for the character of Glinda the Good Witch! Waking the Witch is a magical read and I enjoyed the parts of Pam's story that were set in suburban New Jersey since this is also where i hail from. Hearing about her baby witch visits to the mall and later exploration of New York City transported me back to similarly formative times in my own life. Thank you, Pam!
