hello. hi. i just wanna talk abt something interesting that i noticed in "grounded" a while back that i havent seen anyone else discuss.

to start, i personally believe that each time orel dies, he is getting closer to heaven, to the "divine revelation" that will allow him to pass on to heaven. each time he dies, more of the dogma thats been hammered into his brain is being proven wrong. like him realizing that he doesnt need to go to church to have a relationship with god, he can be his own church. or him realizing that bartholomew did go to heaven, he did have a soul.

during his second death, something thats also deconstructed is the patriarchal view of the bible and of god that hes been taught. this death draws a connection between motherhood, creation, and divinity in a way thats subtle but so cool to me.

see the red bloody/fleshy atmosphere, the way orel starts curled up in the fetal position and slowly unfurls and grows and starts moving around? hear me out. this death is meant to resemble a womb, which itself is meant to represent the creation of life.

hear me out again. this is him inbetween life and heaven. not purgatory, but like, this is his soul being reborn/cleansed and brought to heaven.

cue angelas "my body was their vessel to heaven." fade to black.

calm and collected character x on the go reader. yes this is a self call out but this is so good. like reader always gotta be doing something, ticking off what’s on her responsibility list and the character is like “calm yourself???” bonus points if there’s smut involved where the character forces reader to just take the time to enjoy everything around her.

i’m sorry but shy reader!!!! she’s cliche, yes. very y/n 2012 wattpad core, but she’s a classic. i’ve seen writers (including myself) include more descriptions of mannerisms and internal dialogue, which is super accurate and makes the story more believable. bonus points if the reader can’t hold eye contact even if it meant saving their life.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT????
