[The Squad is in the classroom, revising for an upcoming English test.] Uryu: A sprite is a spirit, a mythical, fairy-like creature with magical powers. Like an elf, or a fairy. Ichigo: A sprite is a faint, red electrical discharge that occurs high above a thunderstorm. Mizuiro: Wait, isn't sprite a 2D bitmap that is integrated into a larger scene in a video game or something? Uryu: Ichigo: Keigo, yelling in confusion: WHAT ARE YOU GUYS SAYING?! ISN'T SPRITE A FRICKIN' SODA?!!

How old's everyone by the time canon bleach rolls around?
Well that's an interesting question that I have devoted way too much thought to.
Most people in soul society age at the normal pace of one year per year, so they only have One Age, but even a tiny excess of spiritual energy can make some age much slower, and in Seireitei, which is full of Spiritually Potent People, most people have two ages- Calendar and Living Age. Calendar is how many years someone has existed, Living is approximately what developmental age they're at. Most Shinigami age at about one year for every 2-5 Lived, with average "died of natural causes and not in the line of duty" lifespans coming to 200-400 years. Power Level has a HEAVY Inverse correlation to aging, but once you hit the power levels associated with Seated officers and captains, things get Weird. Also fatal. Very few captains have died of Natural Causes.
But re: Everyone's ages in June 2000, when the series starts under the cut:
Karakura Gang:
The Kids are not dead yet, so not Subject to the extended lifepsans yet, but I did age everyone up a bit- Ichigo and his Human Friends are all Juniors in High school- age 17... ish.
Ichigo's 18th birthday occurs a couple weeks after he meets Rukia. He was held back from starting Kindergarten for a year because he was too short to reach the drinking fountains.
Chad was tall and his parents were both working full time so his mom persuaded his school to let him in early, so Chad only had his 17th birthday the month before he meets Rukia.
Kon: CA: 132 (9 years in his body) LA: 3, but in cat years, so really more like 22 in human years. An grad student in charge of a pack of teenagers.
Rukia: A Member of the Karakura Gang by association (i.e. my staging notes), Rukia is CA: 73 and LA: 20. She and Renji entered the academy when they were CA:25 and LA: 16. Like many high-powered shinigami, her rate of aging is slowing as she accumulates power, so she will likely live to see at least 500 (unless something happens)
Renji: See: Rukia. Rukia is eight months older than Renji and NEVER lets him forget it.
Kisuke Urahara: CA: 328 LA: 32.4545454545- Urahara is aging at one year for every 11 lived which pleases him because at least once a century his ages will line up and he'll have a straight shot of numbers and that's CLEARLY an excuse to have a MEGA birthday party and give him extra presents! He'll be 333 AND 33 in 2005, so Ichigo should start planning his surprise party!
Yoruichi Shihoin: CA: 329 LA: 28 Yoruichi is 365 days older than Kisuke (He was born in 1672) a leap year) and NEVER lets him forget it.
Isshin Shiba: CA: UUUH- LA: UUUUUUUH- Isshin Shiba was born to the Shiba Clan in 1846, was 154 when he vanished in 1980, appears to be in his mid-forties now, and can only actually REMEMBER the last 20 years of his life with any Clarity. The battle with White left his soul so damaged that when he fused with Masaki, he lost all his spiritual powers and forgot damn near everything- he remembers his given name, the name and face of Kaien Shiba but not how he knows him, that shinigami and hollows exist... but when he overheard Ryuken Ishida lying to the hospital staff that this was his friend from medical school who had been in a terrible car accident, he believed him, and assumed he WAS a doctor that had been in a terrible accident. Masaki was just as frightened of the Shinigami coming after the Quincy. While she could keep her relatives at bay, she couldn't fool the shinigami, so she asked the others to make sure Isshin never tried to return to spirit world... and they went along with it. As far as Isshin knows, Urahara was a guy he worked for as a teenager who helped him set up shop as a doctor after the accident. Yoruichi really is someone he used to be on the intramural volleyball team with back in college. Shinji is some guy who knew his parents, and decided to stay a friend of the family even after after they died in the accident. He and Masaki were married in a beautiful ceremony some weeks ago... Shame they lost all the pictures... Ichigo's promotion to Substitute Shinigami and the confrontation about "You used to be a CAPTAIN?? Why didn't you warn me and the twins about anything???" is one HELL of a shock for him.
Soul Society:
Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto: CA: 2,146 LA: 75 He was enjoying a Long Prime Middle Age until his Divorce in 1196, at which point he went bald, went gray and lost a significant amount of his muscle mass in under a decade, and has looked like an Old Man since.
Chojiro Sasakibe: CA: 1,358 LA: 66 (debated). Chojiro was barely 100 years old when he turned up at Yamamoto's Post Officer Self-Defense Dojo and refused to leave. His Lived Age is a secret known only to Unohana- the debate rages because Sasakibe was born with his Silver Fox hair, and with that removed, shows very little signs of aging. He insists he "-Just keep myself very well." and refuses to elaborate. He has a standing agreement with the SWA that his LA over various years may be revealed after he dies, so they may let people lay bets, on the condition that they give him a percentage when laid to support his Black Tea Habit.
---
Soi Fon: CA: 201 LA: 29 Soi Fon has genetically terrific skin and if her mother is any indication, she'll look like a twentysomething until she hits menopause. THEN she'll look like a Silver Fox.
Marechiyo Omaeda: CA: 102 LA: 24 Omaeda has only been Lieutenant for 14 years, taking over the position early after his father (the previous 2nd Division lieutenant) had an extremely unexpected stroke. He's recovering well, but doesn't want to return because he's so proud of Marechiyo.
---
Ichimaru Gin: CA:DEBATABLE, but at least 357 LA: 21 Gin has several days that *could* count as his "Birthday" but he's existed in his current body for as long as Rangiku has known him.
Rojuro "Rose" Otoribashi: CA: 312 LA: 37 Rose was promoted to captain a bare 2 years ago when TBTP happens, and is considered Young for a captain. In terms of Living Age, he's one of the oldest Visored.
Izuru Kira: CA: 89 LA: 23 He was a bit older than Rukia and Renji in CA and LA when he entered the Academy. He could have entered sooner but he was the sole caregiver for both his parents, who died premature deaths of chronic illnesses.
---
Retsu Unohana: CA: 804 LA: "As old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth." According to the official records, Retsu Unohana enrolled in Shin'o Academy in 1198, and when asked her age, said "I became as I am last year" Which the intake officer interpreted to mean that she died and appeared as an adult in Spirit World in 1197, and she has absolutely failed to correct that misconception. Or update the public records regarding her age.
Yachiru Unohana: CA 1,497 LA: 37 To her credit, Unohana DID die when she was 17 and appeared in the afterlife at the age she died at. Then she barely aged by the time Yamamoto recruited her in 998. She served as Kenpachi of the 11th Divisison for 199 years, until her battle with an as-yet-unnamed young man in 1197. Shortly after her 200th year as Kenpachi passed, she came to terms with the fact she was no longer the fighter she was, and fell in battle to her lieutenant. With that, "Yachiru" Unohana died, and the following day she enrolled in the academy under the name Retsu to study medicine.
Isane Koetetsu: CA: 282 LA: 28 Isane and her sister Kiyone are unusual for Shinigami in that the Koetesu clan has some of the slowest-aging shinigami in it, and the slowed aging STARTS as infants. Isane couldn't even enroll in Shin'o Academy until her 100th birthday, and even then she needed special dispensation to let what was functionally a 10-year old take college classes.
Hanataro Yamada: CA: 141 LA: 23 Hanataro is the younger brother of Former 4th div Lieutenant Seinosuke Yamada, who now runs the Seireitei Medical Center i.e. The Rich Bitch Hospital. Hanataro entered the academy at a very young age like Isane and graduated with honors, but people tend to compare him to his more accomplished older brother, which both of them think is Unfair seeing as Seinosuke is a whole 112 years older than him. Hanatarou started in the 4th division at the tender age of 42/14, and some of the other medics decided to prank the lieutenant's baby brother by sending him to do the initial medical checkup of newly-appointed 11th division captain Zaraki. When he failed to return for six hours, Seinosuke went into a panicked rage and ran to the 11th, ready to make Zaraki the shortest-serving captain ever if need be, only to discover Hanataro patiently vaccinating and enthusiastic Zaraki for EVERYTHING, a process that was taking a while because Zaraki's spiritual pressure kept breaking the needles. Hanataro has been the 11th Division Pocket Medic ever since, to the detriment of Seinosuke's blood pressure. Zaraki encouraged his interest in Toxicology by bringing him dozens of venomous snakes to milk while on field expeditions, also much to the detriment of Seinosuke's blood pressure.
---
Sosuke Aizen: CA: 432 LA: 47 Aizen was born an identical twin, but was the only brother to inherit any spiritual powers. The boy's mother was caught and killed by an enraged shopkeep stealing food to feed a half-starving Sosuke when they were young children. The boys managed to get jobs in another city working at a candy store, and did so well that the owner left the store to them when he retired. Sosuke's marketing talents and Sosato's culinary skills made "My Brother's Candy" a wild success, and soon they were opening franchise stores, and became popular minor celebrities in their district. Sosuke even married and had children- and grand children, and was an active member of his district government and merchants council, personally opening up several schools and water treatment facilities. Then, shortly after he and Sosato celebrated their 88th birthday, tragedy struck. There was a massive flood that lead to a massive crop failure that lead to a massive disease outbreak, which lead to major political upheaval, which lead to Sosuke and his brother having to flee their home. Unfortunately, Sosato dearly loved his brother, and when the hail of arrows came down on them from the soldiers pursing the civilians, Sosato decided that he was near the end of his life anyway, while Sosuke- still functionally in his 20's- had so much to live for, and put himself between his brother and the onslaught. And so Sosuke Aizen went from Revered Councilor, Celebrated Candymaker, beloved Great-grandfather and Twin to an Exile and the sole survivor of his name. He joined the Shinigami, determined to make the Soul Society a better place where what happened to him would never happen again- only to discover that he was at the mercy of a corrupt and incompetent government, and worse, an apparently uncaring God. Until one night when he had a dream- all the pieces of his study of Kido came together and he realized there WAS a way to fix all this- He just had to become God. With that, Gin slithered away into the night and deep into the far districts, so he could assume a human form and forge an identity Aizen wouldn't question when they met back up again.
Shinji Hirako: CA: 412 LA: 31 Shinji genuinely thought he could get away with impersonating a high schooler to spy on Ichigo- after all, he still looked like he was what, 22? With the right clothes and some recent slang- "Why is there some creepy old guy wearing the school uniform?" Ichigo asks his friends the second he sees Shinji. "He looks like some kind of weird hipster who's trying to relive his youth." Sighs Mizurio. "-Or a really deluded pervert who thinks he can sneak into the locker room." says Tatsuki, cracking her knuckles. "He doesn't look THAT old-" Keigo protests, and there is the briefest glimmer of hope for Shinji's Ego. "-Maybe he's some kind of super-senior who got held back a bunch because he's dumb as a brick." Shinji crumples to the ground, defeated by the direct hits to his insecurities.
Hinamori Momo: CA: 66 LA: 26 Momo has an extreme case of babyface but is secretly ripped under her uniform and well on her way to MILFdom from the waist down. The first time Hiyori sees her in shorts is a psychological and spiritual awakening.
Hiyori Sarugaki: CA: 126 LA: 20 Hiyori is the youngest Living Age and slowest-aging visored. She gets mad about her youthful appearance but also uses it to get children's discounts at theme parks.
---
Byakuya Kuchiki: CA: 181 LA: 26 Byakuya was married quite young, and Widowed soon after. He's still in his prime, and exceptionally hale for a Kuchiki- Despite the exceptional spiritual power of the clan, the centuries of inbreeding have given them severe health issues and very short lifespans for their power. Byakuya's grandfather Ginrei only lived to 486, and his father Sojun died at 200 from Hemophillia. Byakuya is still working up the nerve to tell Rukia that she will likely outlive him by a considerable margin, and the fact that Rukia hasn't got a nibling to spoil was His medical problem, not Hisana's.
---
Sajin Komamura: CA: 712 LA: 22 Komamura is somehow both Older AND Younger than everyone thinks he is, and that's not even getting into the "Wait, is that in human years or wolf years?" Debacle. When Yamamoto met Sajin for the first time in the 1400's he was extremely impressed with the giant warriors skill and courage, and before Sajin had a chance to greet him properly, asked the warrior to join his Academy. "I- I'm really old but I'm actually eight." came the voice of a small boy from behind the helmet and Yamamoto had to go stand with his face pressed into the wall for a minute.
Love Aikawa: CA:345 LA:33 Love Aikawa is one of the few shinigami who came into his spiritual powers so fast that he did NOT have a creer before becoming a Shinigami.
Tetsuzaemon Iba: CA: 154 LA: 30 Testsuzaemon was still a small boy when Komamura was appointed to the third seat of the first division, and got to know his mother Chikane Iba. Chikane worked extremely hard, but held Yamamoto in high regard, and Komamura in similar regard by extension. So now Tetsuzaemon is lieutenant to a man he still secretly thinks of as his "Favorite Babysitter".
---
Shunsui Kyoraku: CA: 856 LA: 48 Shunsui was forced to join the academy before his 100th birthday by his noble family because they had not actually planned on actually having a third son survive to adulthood and didn't really know what to do with him. Both Shunsui and Ukitake are old enough to remember when Unohana was still Yachiru, and Shut The Fuck Up about that fact.
Nanao Ise: CA: 141 LA: 28 When she first arrives in Seireitei, Yachiru Kusajishi is LA Eight, and quickly makes friends with Nanao, who is the other little girl close to her age with spiritual powers: "You're my baby sister now, but you'll be my Big sister sooner than later." Yachiru explained. "What do you mean?" Nanao blinked at her. "You're what, Living Age Seven, right?" Yachiru asked, squinting at her. "Yeah, but I'm really Forty-One!" Nanao insisted. It bothered her when people refused to take her seriously because of her age. "Right. I'm like Living Age Eight, so I'm your big sister. But I'm actually Four hundred and six." "…What?" Nanao gaped. "but, but that means you must be aging at…" She frowned, trying to do long division in her head. "-I age about one year for every fifty lived, yeah." "You- oh god." Nanao realized. "You outlive everyone you know." "Not everyone! Ken-chan and I are both aging at the same pace." Yachiru explained, wobbling a bit as she walked the log over the creek. "I guess I'm lucky- there aren't that many of us who age this slow so most of us don't have anybody who's really a 'life-long' companion, and I might be only one with a parent that's got a similar lifespan!" She grinned. "I age at about one for five, so in- ...in less than ten years I'll be older than you." Nanao hummed with concern. "Yep! But until then, you have to do everything your Big Sister says!" Yachiru grinned.
Lisa Yadomaru: CA: 427 LA: 36 Even though they're not REMOTELY related, Lisa bonded very strongly to Nanao when she was Shunsui's lieutenant. This causes some dispute with Yachiru when she returns to Soul Society because according to yachiru, Nanao is her Little Big Sister, owing to the difference in CA, to therefore Lisa is her Big-Big Little Sister, and Lisa thinks she doesn't have to support Yachiru's Candy Habit.
---
Kaname Tousen: Calendar age: 499 LA: 32 After the events of the Winter War, during which Kaname turned 500, Kaname disputes that he is only 350, because he spent the last 150 years under Aizen's Curse and "-You call that living?" Everyone (except Sajin) regularly forgets when Kaname's birthday is because he doesn't celebrate it- it was also his sister Kakiyo's birthday and he hasn't really felt like 'celebrating' since she was murdered, and Ichigo is the first person to REALLY understand his feelings on the matter, his own mother dyind so close to his birthday and how visiting her Memorial wasn't exactly a celebration, but it wasn't exactly mourning either.
Shuuhei Hisagi: CA:119 LA: 27 Renji entered the Academy the year Shuuhei was due to Graduate and still thinks of Shuuhei as his "Senpai". Shuuhei entered the academy the same year Rangiku was due to graduate, and still thinks of her as his "Senpai". Renji once called Rangiku his "Grand-Senpai" She and Shuuhei both beat him with shoes about it.
Kensei Muguruma: CA:469 LA: 29 Kensei supports Kaname's declaration that he's only 350 because finding out Kaname is older than him brings up all the insecurities Kensei developed from being the MUCH younger brother to five sisters, and he can't handle being "The Baby" again.
Mashiro Kuna: CA: 506 LA: 25 It took 47 rounds of Janken with Yachiru for Mashiro to finally be the first to get to three victories and declare herself The Biggest Sister. She also saw Kensei's meltdown about Kaname being older than him and is quietly holding onto the fact she's older than both of them until the moment it will cause her beloved captain the maximum amount of Psychological Damage.
---
Rangiku Matsumoto: CA: 357 LA: 29 Rangiku measures her Calendar Age from the date she appeared in Soul Society at age 14, which is an accepted practice, but sometimes people want to add their years in the living world as well. Rangiku supports Kaname's claim to be 350 because they let HER knock 14 years off her CA for an even more arbitrary reason, and also it means she doesn't have to get him a belated 500th Birthday gift for another 150 years.
Toshiro Hitsugaya: CA: 60 LA: 12 Hitsugaya is FAR AND AWAY the youngest Shinigami to achieve a seated officer's position by any age, and this was 100% done as a political maneuver by Yamamoto. Hitsugaya is no Slouch- he graduated salutatorian of his class and is the youngest person ever to achieve Bankai, but Yamamoto slapped him into the lieutenant's position 20 years ago (Hitsugaya graduated within weeks of Isshin Shiba's Disappearance) SPECIFICALLY to put Rangiku between him and any unscrupulous noble houses looking to forcibly adopt him/marry him to a spare heir/straight-up kidnap Hitsugaya to prop up their failing genetic lines. One of the clans tried it anyway and the resulting smoking crater where the clan compound used to be put the fear of Haineko into everyone and has so far discouraged further attempts.
---
Kenpachi Zaraki: CA: 1,477* LA: 42 Like Gin, Zaraki has several dates that could count as the start of his existence, but when asked how old he was at the first moon-viewing party he went to- "...How d'ya guys measure that?" Zaraki asked, studying Shunsui with his good eye in a way that made the hair on the back of his neck prickle. "Uh- well, for most people, it's when you were Born in Soul Society, but if you died and appeared here it's the day you first existed in Soul Society." he explained, feeling like he was missing an important dimension to the question. "Oh! In that case I'm- wait, shit. What day is it today?" "It's November 18th." Unohana smiled. "Ah, fuck! With all the chaos I forgot-!" Zaraki laughed. "Turned 1,377 last Monday." The assembled Shinigami all stared blanky, save for Unohana, who appeared to be trying to not laugh into her cup. "I'm sorry, I'm not sure I heard that correctly..?" Jushiro asked, entirely sure he had. "One Thousand Three Hundred Seventy-Seven." Zaraki repeated slowly, grin cracking across his face. "-Can't say I've done as good a job lookin' after myself as Sasakibe here though." "I- good heavens! The only person you're younger than is Yamamoto himself!" Aizen exclaimed, eyes wide behind his glasses. Zaraki frowned at that for a moment and then nodded. "...If you say so." Unohana made a small snuffling noise as she tried to not snort sake up her nose laughing. "How old are YOU, Mr. Glasses?" Yachiru asked. "Hm? Oh, I'm 332! And how old are y-" Aizen began to reply before he was interrupted by Yachiru jabbing her finger into the tip of his nose, cackling. "HAH! you're seventy- uh- seventy four years younger than me! You're a little baby man!" She clapped her hands with glee. "Unohana-sama? Are you alright?" Ukitake asked as the chief medic coughed suddenly. "I'm having a great time!" She wheezed, eyes watering from accidentally inhaling her drink.
Yachiru Kusajishi: CA: 506 LA: 10 Yachiru was Very Loved by her parents. Zaraki tells her this. When he found her, he found her in an otherwise abandoned house, with her parents, who had obviously died protecting her from the late-winter cold snap. She was still in her mother and father's arms when he came to investigate her cries. Her parents were wearing kimono that had the bottom third cut off, just above their knees, even though it was the middle of winter. She was wearing a double-layered baby Kimono made of the fabric they had cut off, to make sure she stayed warm. He took her into the nearest village, in hopes someone there could nurse her and tell him what her name was. She was lucky- there was a woman nursing her own daughter who agreed to take on her as well. But the Village elder hung his head in shame- he knew the couple the vagrant described- they lived far up the mountain, and only went by the name "Kusajishi", the name of the district, as was the style of many poor and illiterate farmers. They only came down from their farm once or twice a year to sell the special herbs they grew up there- the elder had seen the woman pregnant, but they had not come down to tell him the girl's name for the village records. So that day, the vagrant became Kenpachi Zaraki, and gave to her the name Yachiru as any parent should name their child, and the name Kusajishi, after the parents that loved her so. She only ever calls her adopted father Ken-chan, and is the only person who is allowed to call him that, because a parent should be called something special by their child. In deference to her parent's sacrifice, she does not call him "father". That was another man, who died for her. Zaraki does not lie to Yachiru, ever. Everything he told her about how they met is true. He has omitted one detail from the story, however. Her parents died from the cold snap because they had to be at least eighty, and not blessed with spiritual power like her. She had outlived her parents as an infant. And after speaking to the village elder about how, to his shame, he'd never managed to ask the little girl's name, even since he was a little boy, and failed to send anyone up there to check on the family, The vagrant with no name sat near the fire in the village hall, holding the little girl with no name. He thought about how terribly lonely it was, to not have a name. and how lucky he was that he had a mother who also had an extremely long lifespan that was able to live through raising him, and that he could still visit and speak to. and how unlucky this little girl was, that she did not. "How d'ya get a name?" the vagrant asked the village elder. "Well, here you just tell me what your name is, and I write it down in the village records." the elder said, watching him with curiosity. "...if I tell you a name, will you show me how to write it?" He asked, voice barely above a whisper. "Of course." The elder nodded. The vagrant was silent for a while. "Then her name is Yachiru Kusajishi." Said the vagrant. "...And yours?" The elder asked, picking up the record book and inkstone. "Mine?" the vagrant asked. "You're giving her a name because she hasn't got anyone else to do it, aren't you?" The elder asked, gaze steady. "If you name something, it's your responsibility forever, and you're going to have to be responsible for yourself if you're going to be responsible for her." The Vagrant considered this for a while. "My name-" he started and stopped, throat clicking like he was literally choking on the words. "-My name for her is Kenpachi Zaraki."

Mayuri Kurotsuichi: CA: 132 LA: 267 Mayuri is the only shinigami aging faster than the expected rate. This is because he escaped from Hell, and Hell would very much like to get his ass back there ASAP.
Nemuri Kurotsuichi: CA: 20 LA: 20 Nemu has been twenty for twenty years now, ever since she was pulled from the goo of her incubation tube by her father Mayuri, and will be 20 for the foreseeable future. The static lack of aging is something Mayuri hopes to fix in future drafts- Nemu is the seventh Nemuri, and the most successful one so far- She's the second Nemuri to actually make it out of her incubation tube, and the first to survive more than a year, but Nemuri Hachigo is already developing in the basement of the 12th in case something happens to her. The knowledge of her 'Little Sister' is something that brings Nemu comfort, like already knowing what you're going to be reincarnated as. "That's really fucked up." Says Uryuu Ishida in the rubble of Las Noches as she puts his intestines back inside his thorax where they belong. He's on a lot of drugs he'd like to know less about. "-It's also kind of cute. In a away. but really fucked up."
Kirio Hikifune: CA: 617 LA: 35 Kirio is one of a handful of people in on Unohana's double identity, but would NEVER betray her beloved Senpai's personal information! She served under Unohana in the fourth and developed her flesh-to-food technique with Unohana's help.
Tama Nikuya: CA: 1,477 LA: 26 Despite being the same age as Zaraki and Unohana and was aging at the same slow rate, the process that turned her into a Puca also caused her to go into bio-hell-fuckery that has effectively stopped her from aging at all. Or rather, she IS aging but every time she dies, she reappears as the LA age she was when she underwent The Flesh Change. She says the process is not infinite- she WILL eventually run out of spare lives, and if she manages to live long enough to die of old age in this body, she will NOT respawn at all. Also- it HURTS! She does die, which hurts, and comes back, which hurts EVEN MORE, and each time she comes back, she's confronted with the prospect of either outling all her friends or putting them through a similar hell to stay together. All in all, DO NOT ATTEMPT. I am speaking to you specifically, Kisuke. Akon Akon: CA: 119 LA: 27 Akon only has the one name but the archives don't like that so he uses it Twice. He was imprisoned without trial in the Maggot's nest for being part Yokai when he was a small child, and sprung to work in R&D By Mayuri shortly after Urahara's disappearence. He's friends with Yachiru and Nanao because there weren't hat many kids in the social circles of the Gotei-13's upper ranks, and all three of them shared a mutual interest in the Dinosaurs that were being discovered at the time. He's friends with Shuuhei because he was forced to take Remedial "if you work in the 12th instead of just R&D you need to actually know how to be a shinigami" classes the same year Shuuhei was accepted to the academy and they were dorm mates. Akon intermittendly draws weird one-panel cartoons for the Seireitei bulletin under a pen name, often about strange scientific jokes and on one notable occasion, bovine anthropological artifacts.

Jushiro Ukitake: CA: 857 LA: 44 Ukitake is genuinely unsure if, when or HOW he will die, given that he is host to a Divine Being. Once that particular cat is out of the bag, it gives him something to commiserate about with Tama. Already, Shunsui is starting to outpace his age- is he doomed to bury his friend? or will circumstance force Mimihagi to consume him entirely? Mimihagi is sympathetic- the Left Hand of God is also not sure what this fusion entails for him- it's possible that if Jushiro dies by any other means besides Mimihagi consuming him, that Mimihagi will die with him, and neither is sure what kind of impact that might have on the universe at large. Still, if it weren't for Mimihagi's intervention, Jushiro wouldn't have this time at all, and Mimihagi will never have had these experiences, so neither regrets the choice they made, regardless of how it ends.
Hachigen Ushoda: CA: 278 LA: 32. Hachigen is appearing under the 13th Division because the Kido Corps got absorbed into the 13th while he was away. Hachi consistently fools people into thinking he's way older than he actually is because he has to tailor-make all his clothes for his massive frame, so why NOT go all the way and make something Special for all this effort?
...this post is already three miles long, I'll do the Arrancar and Quincy next.

{ baby, he's got to be crazy | living like he's john wayne | always facing the world, a-chasing the girl | baby, he's got to be crazy }
there were moments where ichigo kurosaki absolutely intimidated and frightened you, and you did all you could to avoid him like the plague whilst spending your school years at karakura high.
in your eyes, ichigo was someone who always got into fights and had the appearance of the usual delinquent. his orange hair was difficult to ignore, seeming to capture the essence of a sunset itself. despite never once sharing a class with him, the times that you did pass by him, his features were always drawn up in a scowl.
sometimes, being in the same room with ichigo felt stifling. it was as though there was a power felt emanating from him, one that you couldn't quite explain or put a finger on. all you knew was that he was strong- much stronger than he let on.
as you walked through the hallways after finishing your club duties for the day, you cling to your bag while looking out the window. the skies were bathed in warm, gentle hues of the sunset, and the sight was so beautiful to you that you had to take a chance to stop and admire it.
while looking at the setting sun, your mind wanders to ichigo, feeling your heart twist a bit in anticipation while remembering the conversation you last had with your friends.
you recall a time when you hung out with your friends, orihime and tatsuki, simply studying for your respective exams when orihime cheerfully called out your name and asks, "ne, what do you think of kurosaki-kun?"
you look back at her with your eyes wide, "huh? why would you ask me about him all of a sudden?"
a strange expression crosses her features, but she simply shakes her head, appearing sheepish while placing a strand of her red hair behind her ear, "well, i was just wondering, that's all! it's just, you seem to be doing a lot to avoid him..."
you felt your cheeks turn warm in embarrassment, "i have not been avoiding him! w-well, not intentionally, at least." you cough, trying to hide how awkward you felt. you didn't think anyone would notice how you spent most of your high school years not interacting with ichigo at all, managing to reach your final year without a hitch.
"why? did that jerk do something to you?" tatsuki was quick to come to your defense, "you can tell me if that idiot did something to upset you, and i will gladly have a word with him."
you try to diffuse the situation, holding up your hands in protest while calming your friends down, "no please, tatsuki, there's no need to do anything to him! it's just... i don't know, something about him...scares me."
your friends remain silent, waiting for you to explain. you swallow thickly while running a hand through your own hair, "he hasn't done anything wrong, but sometimes, when he's near, i can feel his presence. there's something... foreboding about him, i guess. like, something that makes him not all... human."
the warmth felt against your cheeks becomes even more prominent, making you shake your head as you slapped both of your hands against them. "please, i'm sorry, don't tell kurosaki i said all of that. i know it makes no sense and-"
"no no, that's totally understandable! b-but still, kurosaki isn't that scary at all!"
"i agree with orihime, he's really a dummy who doesn't know how to act normally around people sometimes-"
"and he has a heart of gold, with his desire to protect everyone."
oddly enough, both orihime and tatsuki did their best to convince you that ichigo was just a normal guy with an unfriendly face, and you had to hold back your giggling, promising them that you'd try to speak to ichigo when the chance came up.
thinking back on it now, you kind of regretted your promise to them. something about ichigo made you so nervous, and you found that you couldn't think straight when he was around. you sigh and rest your head against the window, playing various scenarios of you greeting ichigo, just to see if you could do it or not.
"hey, are you okay?"
in the midst of your reverie, you freeze, hearing that familiar deep voice calling out to you. moving your head away from the window, you look to your right to see ichigo himself. he wore his usual school uniform while placing a hand within the confines of his pockets, his posture slightly slouched when he casually approaches you.
"are you feeling sick? do you need to go to the infirmary?"
you couldn't breathe, meeting with his brown eyes as you could see a softness in them you had never seen before. had he always looked this beautiful? and just why was your heart suddenly racing now?
whether it was out of fear, or something else, you couldn't say for sure.
when he was directly in front of you, you found that you lost all confidence, quickly apologizing to him with every intention of leaving him. your mind was a muddled mess, and you felt so flustered that you didn't know what to do.
you merely took two steps away from him when you felt something pulling you back, encircling your wrist as you were trapped against a lithe form and the wall.
ichigo's scowl was back, and he kept you against the wall. "are you afraid of me?"
you truly felt mortified at that moment, unable to say a word to him as you felt dizzy from his proximity. you could smell the faint scent of his cologne, and his body heat was seeping into you, making it harder for you to concentrate.
your heart was beating painfully out of your chest, and you couldn't say a word to him as you ended up looking away from him. ichigo ends up clicking his tongue, finally pushing himself away from you. with ichigo no longer pressing you up against the wall, you look at his steadily retreating form, not daring to move until he was out of your sight.
you waited for several minutes, remaining in the hallway while mentally berating yourself. why did you have to feel so weird when it came to him? what made you feel this way, and were you really afraid of him-
or was it something else?
you were so caught up in your thoughts that you didn't realize just how low the sun was beginning to set. with a gasp, you take a hold of your bag and made a mad dash toward the exit, practically running home in hopes that nightfall wouldn't come.
your breathing was labored, with your footsteps pounding across the concrete streets of karakura town. all you wanted to do was go home and be alone with your thoughts, but something stops you from moving forward.
you halt your movements, frowning as you strained your ears to hear your surroundings. you swore that as you ran, something was following you.
blood was rushing through your ears as you could feel the adrenaline pumping through your veins, initiating your fight or flight response.
that's her...
a cruel voice echoes into the air, filling your veins with ice as you shakily take a step forward, feeling something ominous coming from behind you.
this has to be her... his heart.
if we destroy what is most important to him, we'll destroy his heart...
you gasp and tried to force your legs to move forward once more, now running across the empty streets of karakura when a slash was felt tearing through the fabric of your uniform. you whimper, looking behind you to see a thin slice of blood appearing on the side of your abdomen.
a sudden tremor was what ultimately brings you back down to your knees with a scream, the pain all but masked due to the anxiety and fear that was felt coursing through your veins. as you were looking forward, you were able to make out two, large fuzzy shadows. a skeletal mask hid their features, and you felt an all-consuming sense of despair coursing through you-
because this...this was how you were going to die.
the looming shadows were seen leaning down, and you could only bring yourself to close your eyes, awaiting for the painful death-
"NO! NOT HER!"
your throat becomes dry when you hear the sounds of his voice, forcing you to look up when you saw ichigo dressed in all-black while wielding a thin blade. the shadows face him, ready to attack when he brings his sword down on one of the shadows. it swiftly goes down in one hit while ichigo flows gracefully to the next shadow, not even giving it a single chance to reach you as he pierces through its mask.
a shrill cry echoes throughout the night, and your heart was still pounding with fear even as ichigo's body shielded you from the destruction of those shadow like creatures.
time slowed down to a crawl, and only when you could no longer see the outline of those shadows did you fall to your knees. your ears were ringing, and you found it hard to focus, unable to react even when ichigo was calling out your name.
a familiar warmth was felt enveloping you in a gentle embrace, and you found yourself falling back against a hard chest. your eyes were distant, unable to truly see ichigo. his frown was back, and you heard him let out a soft curse before leaning in closer to you, placing his lips against yours in a chaste kiss.
the sensation of his chapped lips against yours was what ultimately brings you back down to earth, grounding you as you responded eagerly to his kiss. with a soft sigh of his name, you allowed your lips to slot perfectly against his, threading your hands through his sunset colored hair while basking in his sudden kiss. as ichigo warms you, you no longer felt like gravity was the one grounding you, but rather it was him.
when he feels your response, ichigo pulls away from the kiss and smiles down at you. you feel the way the calloused pad of his thumb trace at your bottom lip, gaze achingly sweet when he asks, "are you okay?"
you could only manage a nod, making ichigo give you another one of his soft smiles when he stands back to his full height still holding you. "alright, let me take you home."
"wait...!" your voice comes out as hoarse due to your prior screams, and you had to wet your lips to get rid of the dryness felt against them. "i...i still feel scared... can i please stay with you...?"
the kindness was so evident in his gaze, and you found yourself wondering why you were so afraid of him in the first place. he simply tightens his hold on you, simply answering your pleas with a simple "yeah."
holding you close to his chest, ichigo ends up taking you somewhere safe, running with an almost inhuman speed towards the town park. the cold air was felt whipping through your hair, and you could do little but continue to cling to him whilst he ran. with the moon and stars now shining brightly in the sky, ichigo reaches the park and settles down against the plush grass while keeping you on his lap.
he says nothing, simply looking up at the sky while running his hands through your hair. meanwhile, you kept staring up at his beautiful features with a million questions running through your mind, leaving you feeling overwhelmed and speechless.
your name coming out from ichigo's lips in a soft spoken tone breaks you out of your thoughts, with you meeting his gaze once more. his brown eyes were gentle, and you could feel his thumb gracing at your cheeks in a tender caress.
"i'm glad that i was able to save you."
you felt your heart racing again, with your hands clinging to the front of his dark robe, "kurosaki...?"
he hums, brushing his lips against your head of hair, silently coaxing you to go on.
"d-do you... do you happen to... i mean, by any chance- do you like me?" you blurt out as quickly as possible, your words coming out as a bit rushed when you clench your eyes shut, feeling afraid of what his answer might be.
ichigo was silent for several seconds before he slowly begins speaking once more. "you know... a while back, when my old man was talking about how he and my mother met... he told me that my mother was like his sun- that she became the center of his entire universe. and i didn't understand it back then..."
you open your eyes, feeling ichigo tracing his lips against the shell of your ear. when you felt him nuzzling against your skin, the sensation being achingly sweet to you, was when he whispers, "but now, i finally understand it."
his large hand was felt on your chin, making you look up at him. "i always noticed you. you were close to inoue and arisawa, and there was always this desire i had to protect you... to shield you from all the dangers of the world."
"but you were afraid of me...and i didn't want to scare you anymore. yet at the same time, i didn't want to leave you alone. i never wanted you to get hurt or feel pain because of me."
ichigo's eyes narrow, and you could feel the back of his hand gracing at your cheek. "i guess what i'm trying to say is that... you've become the center of my universe... that you've always been the center of my universe."
your heart was bursting at the seams, finally filling with an unbidden happiness as you allowed you to realize the truth of your emotions-
perhaps deep down, you knew that he loved you, but was too shy or insecure to truly believe it. yet now, with ichigo's earnest expression and true confession, you felt a joy that was indescribable.
so instead of conveying how you felt for ichigo with words, you allowed your actions to reply back to his confession. with a whisper of his name, you lean up and allow your lips to meet with his in a sweet kiss, one that let him know just how much he had become the center of your own universe as well.

Watching you in silence the reflection on his glasses; your body dancing underneath the night lights.
Never once he dared to confess. Never once he dared to touch your face even if you fell asleep on his shoulder so many times. If there was something Dr. Ishida Uryu was for you, it was your safe place.
But his heart ached for you, his body claimed yours; that sweet young boy that has now bloomed into a mature man, has loved you since high school days.
Karakura town seems, as always, a peaceful place to live. You walk through the streets of the city centre with a bag full of bread. Inoue-san made her dream come true, and now, she has her own bakery. So, whenever you visit her you come back with much more than what you went to buy.
As you yawn you take a look at the big, white building ahead of you. It shines with the sun, and the blue details on the walls always shine much more. Ishida clinic, your workplace, it’s always been a very sophisticated place.
You were on guard last night, and now the weekend awaits for your tired mind to enjoy it, fully. Yet, even if sometimes you wish you never put a step into that place, you decide to pay a visit to the floor you’ve been assigned since you get the job.
“I have too much bread in this bag, I will visit the guys and bring them some” you murmur, smiling as you get inside the doors of the clinic.
As you enter, the security guard waves at you with a big smile. And after giving him a choux filled with chocolate, you take the elevator to floor 6.
“I bring you bread; I bring you calories!” you chime right at the entrance of the nurses office. Everyone of your workmates jolts from their seats and others come when their duties are over. Everybody enjoys the delicious pastries from Kurosaki & Inoue Patisserie.
Soon, you decide is time to leave. Today is little Kazui’s birthday, so, you need to get ready for the night as you are going to have dinner with them.
“Bye bye!! Have a good guard!!” you salute your friends, and as you turn around -carefree and a little violently- you bump into a man wearing glasses.
His slender fingers and unpolluted white coat receive you in their embrace, holding you not to fall on him.
Your eyes reflect on his glasses, even if his black bangs cover half of his right eye.
“Dr. Ishida…” you murmur, in awe. When you were still in high school you always saw him like a cute boy, who later on showed how strong and amazing he could be. Yet, his handsome looks were never important to you until that deadly situation that involved a war on the skies…
“(Name)! are you ok? Why are you here in your free day?” he asks, surprised and worried. He never misses your schedule, for some reason he knows it better than you.
You slowly walk back. Just a few steps. Feeling your cheeks burn, you apologize for bumping into him. “I’m sorry, Ury- Dr. Ishida. I didn’t see you were behind me! I am good, I just passed by to give some bread to the guys. Inoue gave me a lot; you know how she is”
Those words sound like a deeper truth to the Quincy. Of course, you never noticed him being behind you…
“It’s ok, (Name)” he sighs, fixing his glasses with his ring finger over the bridge of his nose. “Are you going to Kazui’s birthday party tonight?” Uryu asks, walking outside the nurse office and into the hall with you.
You nod, with a bright smile that makes him gasp and immediately after hide behind his onyx hair. He is still a shy guy, after all.
You show him the contents of one of your bags, two boxes with blue and white paper wrapping and a big bow on top. “One from me, one from you. I knew you would be working late today so naturally you wouldn’t have time to buy your nephew a present” you tell him; professionalism is only used when there are more people around you two.
He lets his straight shoulders fall. His head does the same. Of course, he forgot. “Thank you, (Name). You need to tell me how much is i-“
“ISHIDA URYU, IT ISN’T NECESSARY! You are gonna come pick me up tonight, thus, there is the payment” you cut him off. He didn’t say he was going to pick you up; you just ordered him to do so.
He smiles, softly. “I was going to pick you up either way. See you at nine, ok?” he says, quickly as his beeper starts ringing. A new patient, or some kind of emergency awaits for the best doctor.
You beam back. Trying to read the message on the tiny screen of his calling device. But he doesn’t allow you to do so. “It’s your free day. I can do it. Go”
“Oh… ok, Doc ~” you jump to kiss his cheek and purr, for you to then leave with little jumps playfully through the halls of your workplace.
As you walk away, and Uryu still remains where you left him, he takes his soft hand to his equally soft cheek. He feels like it burns, but a good type of heat. And his heart, beats faster than what he could probably consider healthy.
“Dr. Ishida!! Code blue!” one of the nurses wakes him up from the dream of your lips crushing against his lips instead of his cheek the next time.
“Code blue?? CODE BLUE!”
As you pick the dress you are wearing for tonight, you think of him. Your Quincy friend has been in your mind a lot lately. Why? Well, you aren’t still very sure.
“I’m going for the yellow flowery one, I think is not gonna be that chilly tonight” you lie to yourself, you know you will end up asking Orihime for a coat since the guys are gonna be hosting a barbeque at the rooftop.
You let your hair lose, you are tired of having it up in a tie ponytail every day of the week for work. A little bit of makeup, perhaps a little more than usual.
The packages with your present next to Uryu’s one rest on the coach next to the door, ready for when he rings your bell.
As you wait for your Quincy friend, you think about him. You see him like a star; not only handsome but also extremely successful. There is no woman that blushes whenever he asses them, and still, he doesn’t seem to notice.  You always asked yourself why, being as intelligent as he is, Uryu never left to the big city nor got married…
The bell makes you jump from the coach. You were so deep into your thoughts -and the photos you took last summer with him- that you got pretty scared.
“I’m coming Uryu!” you chime, spraying some sweet perfume while you look into the mirror one last time. With your purse and the present bag in your hands, you open the door.
The breeze of spring kisses your cheeks and plays with your lose hair as you watch an all-white dressed Uryu stand on your porch.
His blue eyes open big and swallow your beauty entirely. His pale lips separate, and even if there is plenty of air around not a single molecule of oxygen gets inside his body.
“Hey! I’m glad I have such a good-looking friend to pick me up! Thank you, my neighbours will finally stop thinking I’m becoming the crazy cat lady” you joke, closing the door behind you.
However, Uryu isn’t laughing. He actually isn’t reacting. He is standing there, with no signs of life whatsoever.
You tilt your head to the side; he is either being abducted by the shadows again or he worked that much he is sleeping with his eyes open.
“Ishida Uryu? Earth calling Uryu-chan?” you snap your fingers in front of him to catch his attention -even if you had all of it-.
He softly shakes his head and blinks back. His cheeks become as red as tomatoes, but he plays it cool. Uryu turns around quickly to cover his blush; a blush you saw either way.
“You wanna walk? Or do I took the car?” he asks, since the Kurosaki family’s house is pretty near yours.
“I think we should walk, the spring breeze will ease someone’s blushed cheeks…” you murmur, so low he didn’t hear.
“Come again?” “Walking. I feel like enjoying the spring breeze!”
Both begin to head towards North. The moon shines brightly above your heads and there isn’t much sound around the neighbourhood. Some buzzing neon lights of ramen places tint puddles of rainwater from last night. And the beauty of the pink kisses of millions of buds of sakura flowers fill your eyes.
“What a beautiful night! No wonder it has to be Kazui’s anniversary!” you comment, taking your phone to snap some pictures and walking a little bit further than him.
“It’s really beautiful, (Name)” Uryu whispers, with his hands inside the pockets of his white pants. He seems a lot more silent than always, as if something was happening to him.
“What is it with you tonight, U-chan?” you call him like when you were in school, making him gasp behind you. Turning around, you notice a miserable man that’s normally your friend and colleague.
He sighs. Looking at you with nostalgic eyes. As if he had the sensation of having lost too much time in life.
“Nothing at all, (Name)… it’s just th- CAREFUL!” he suddenly screams, pouncing into you.
You freeze. His arms around your waist have you trapped. Noses almost touching, breathing hastily, dilated pupils fixed into each other’s.
“W-what?” you stutter. “You- you were about to hit your head with that pole” he whispers, and soon you notice that right behind his hand that is now over your temple there is a big pole of a street light.
You close your eyes. Yet again, he saved you from your own clumsiness. But, why isn’t he letting you go? why are you still grabbed to his clothes? Why your skins are so joyful of being one against the other?
“Th-thank you. I’m an idiot” you mumble, looking down, discovering his lips being so close to yours.
“You… you aren’t an idiot. You were – asking- me… uh…” he tries to keep talking, but he is unable to do so. His brain cells aren’t connecting, his tongue doesn’t want to talk it only wants to kiss. His lips are burning, itching, getting dragged like a magnet to yours.
You swallow and blink slowly. It feels like the movies. You are sure he is exactly feeling the same way… You close your eyes, waiting for him to plaster the so wanted peck.
And just, exactly when the warmth of his mouth close to yours feels so hot, the sound of his phone breaks the beautiful moment.
Both quickly separate. Acting as if what was just about to happen never did. Uryu lets go free from his hug, your hands unclench to his clothes. Both cheeks burn but soon you turn around acting silly to brush off the tension.
“Kurosaki? What?” Uryu answers the phone with quite a bad mood. “Yeah, mhh. Nothing happened to me. We are about to get there. Mhh, yes. Bye”
You watch him slip his phone back into his pocket, and waits for you to turn around.
“It was Kurosaki. He said Kazui was asking for you and me” he says, all serious, acting as he always does at the hospital. “By the way, are you ok? Did you get hurt in any way?” he asks, making sure you didn’t suffer any injury from his “saving movement”.
You smile sweetly. That little boy is always as sweet as his mom. “I’m fine, U-chan. You saved me, thank you… now come on, my sweet little tangerine is waiting for us. Auntie and uncle are going!” you chime pulling Uryu from his hand. You want to act as normal as possible, just to categorically avoid even thinking of the almost kissing situation from before.
The doctor flinches when he hears “auntie and uncle”. Perhaps it is his heart wanting that to be a reality or maybe all of this has become unbearable for his shyness.
In any case both walk in silence the couple of streets until you get to your friends house. Inside, you can already hear Ichika’s screams followed by Rukia’s scolding.
“Ah… the pests” you giggle. You love the Shinigami kids, but the Quincy joke has to be told as Uryu and you aren’t soul reapers but the opposite.
Uryu let a little smile slip through his lips, and it’s enough for you not to keep pushing any other type of conversation.
Soon, the beautiful ginger Inoue opens the door, letting both of you enter into her home. For your friends, you are an already married couple, even if you haven’t ever shown any signs of romantic relationship. Yet, going everywhere together, working one next to the other, and the looks in your eyes when nobody seems to be watching are enough proof for them.
And as soon as you reach the living room, two little pests attack you. Kazui and Ichika jump over Uryu and then you. On a much more far position, you found little Nemuri standing, watching in awe everything that happens.
Chad, Rukia, Renji, Ichigo, Byakuya and his new wife, Urahara and Yoruichi, and Ichigo’s family are already at the rooftop ready to enjoy a delicious barbeque.
Uryu goes upstairs first, carrying the kids with him. Nemuri gets shily closer to him, but soon gives him a soft smile. The doctor, that once met an older version of her, pats her head with sweetness as they walk.
You accompany Inoue towards the kitchen; she needs to take some food upstairs, so you help her. However, you wait for Uryu to fully disappear to speak to her.
“Orihime, I need to tell you something that just happened” you whisper.
The ginger beauty turns around excitedly; “Don’t tell me you are already dating?” she asks, excitedly. A lot more than any other person.
You frown in confusion. “Dating? I- Uryu and I?” you stutter, she didn’t even name him, but you knew. And she did too.
“You aren’t? But… I thought he was going to t- nevermind… what was it?”
You aren’t allowed to tell her, as the kids have already come downstairs to drag you up. “Mommy, Auntie!! The meat is ready!!!”
The night seems like any other where you all have fun and eat delicious food all together like a family. However, Uryu seems more silent than ever. There are times where your sights cross, but he immediately looks down and fixes his glasses to avoid the eye contact.
You try to brush off that feeling of having done something bad. Because it is exactly what you think you did; perhaps offering your lips have only upset him… after all, you were ready to ruin a friendship of more than 20 years.
“Honey, do you know what’s happening to the Quincy boy?” Isshin Kurosaki asks you, looking at who could have been more than his son’s friend if the past events turned a little different.
“I… I’m not sure, Kurosaki-san. He has always been a serious man” you lie…
Soon, music starts to play, and the kids want to dance. Of course, Rukia, her sister-in-law, Kisuke, Yoruichi and Orihime join the dancing, while Ichika tries to pull his noble uncle to the “dance floor” to do the same.
Kazui comes straight to you; “Auntie (Name), come dance with us?” “Of course, honey! You are the birthday boy so let’s dance until our feet hurt!”
There seems to be something magical that cannot be described when you enjoy the love of family. The soft breeze of late April plays with the hem of your yellow flowery dress and for some seconds you forget about Uryu.
The fairy lights that warmly light up the rooftop, look beautiful contrasted with a dark night sky.
With bare feet you dance, while Uryu watches you in silence. You are reflected on his glasses, with blurry tiny dots of light around. He loses his serious frown; his expression has now softened. Everything, absolutely everything seems to disappear when he looks at you… always from afar, always so mute.
“Ishida… ISHIDA!” “What?!” “When are you gonna tell her?” Ichigo asks, this time pretty worried because his friends seems miserable.
Uryu sighs, taking off his glasses and wrapping his forehead with his hands. He rests his chin on his palm, trying to search for a reason, for a single excuse beside being scared of rejection.
“I don’t want to ruin our friendship, Kurosaki. I… what would happen if she rejected me? We work together, we are like family” he murmurs, in between the laughter of the kids and the women dancing.
“Do you know who my wife is, Quincy?” Renji chimes in. “I- YOU KNOW WHO HER BROTHER IS? KUCHIKI TAICHO, YOU WANTED TO KILL ME WHEN YOU KNEW?” he asks his captain and now brother-in-law.
Byakuya looks at his empty glass of lime soda and sighs. “I wanted to kill you multiple times. Yes. But Rukia loves you, who am I to tell her not to marry you?”
“Taicho… -.-”
Ichigo starts laughing at Renji, hitting his back. Uryu smiles and softly chuckles; even Byakuya does.
“Really? Kurosaki what about you? You dork! You married Orihime but you had to wait until I got married to ask her out!!” Renji spits, pushing Ichigo to the side. “What I am trying to say is that by confessing to her I almost got slayed in two by Senbonzakura, Ishida! You shouldn’t be afraid! Go tell her” he continues, being absolutely serious and fair.
“Kids, Uryu… listen here, take your time and you will see that you will become the bravest of men when it’s time” Kurosaki Isshin intervenes, and there is no braver man than him. After all, he give it all for love.
Uryu nods. He perfectly understands what he meant. And with a candid smile from all of them, and some more cans of beer opened, the topic gets settled.
Soon, the time of blowing the candles arrive. Kazui is turning five today, but it seems to all of you that it was barely yesterday when you all were teenagers saving the world.
“Happy birthday Kazui!!”
You all take photos with him, first, aunt and uncle Abarai, the Kuchiki and their plushie of Wakame Taishii too. Yoruichi, who had become a cat by express request of the birthday boy, and Kisuke do too. Chad, who gifted Kazui his first pair of boxing gloves appears on a tik tok Orihime makes playing with his kid and lastly Uryu and you.
“Smile!” the ginger woman chimes, pointing her phone towards his son and you two. Kazui asks her mom to wait, and instantly stands up to hug you two. “My auntie and uncle!! When will I have a new cousin to play with? Is he gonna be a Quincy too?”
You gawk, looking at Uryu. He does the same, and in between giggles Orihime snaps a picture that will forever remain in your memories. Your eyes met, your lips separate, and the time, as well as in the photo, also seems to stop.
“Oh, the sincere looks of love…” Inoue whispers to his husband, who sighs… when will his friend realize how much they love each other?
Inside you, there is a mix of feelings… have you ever thought about a kid? With him? You aren’t sure, but, the idea seems both scary and beautiful.
When it’s time to go, and you salute everybody, you bite your lower lip. It’s time to walk back home, next to him. His car is parked right by your entrance, there is no way you could avoid his company… not that you wanted to avoid it, either way.
As you begin walking, not a single word is being spoken. Your shoulders feel cold, your legs too. So, you, as in a cliché romantic movie, hug yourself to try to get a little bit warmer.
And of course, Uryu notices.
“Have my coat” he says, taking his long white jacket off and putting it over your shoulders.
You wish to say no, but you simply can’t. Instead, you snuggle to it, allowing his soft perfume to reach your nose. A little smile garnishes your lips, a smile you try to hide. But a smile he notices looking at you with the corner of his eye.
A few blocks ahead of silent walk and you are already by your door. And it’s time to say goodnight… but does any of you wanted to say bye?
You put a foot on your porch, while he stays still at the very entrance of it. For some seconds, both look at each other. Swallowing, waiting for something else to happen.
“Uryu I-“  “(Name) I-“
Both speak at the same time; and both stop at the same time as well. “I- please, go ahead” you say, knowing very well he won’t take the opportunity.
“You can go first…” he shyly murmurs, now absolutely unable to say anything else.
You take a deep breath; you are freezing. “U-chan, would you like to come inside and have some coffee? It’s still pretty early… unless you are tired and I will understand and so- uh-” you start rumbling, you need to fill the silence he is giving. But he stops you with simple words…
“(Name), I’m in love with you” “Uryu…”

The Kids in the Room
The Fullbringer Arc is tighter and more coherent than anything in the manga so far, telling a very straightforward story about a young person’s alienation from the world he lives in. It has very specific things to say about the role of parents, mentors, and friends in the process of a kid becoming an adult and does a pretty decent job of looking at how different organizations (the state, gangs) can play into that young person’s life. And then, at the climax of the story, it very intentionally takes all that hard work, and for what I must assume were business reasons, tosses it all away.
Tumblr media
The Arrancar Arc was a glorious, grandiose mess. It featured no fewer than three separate worlds, four distinct factions, and probably around twenty characters with active character arcs. Although it started off with the truly breathtaking ambition of weaving all of this together, by the end Kubo had cut a considerable amount of the subplots in favor of actually getting to the end of the story he was telling. And it still mostly worked! Ichigo’s character arc, at least, ended where I think it was always going to: sacrificing his nigh-unlimited power after understanding the price of that power.
Tumblr media
But of course, giving up all of your powers isn’t really a long-term solution for Ichigo, just like it isn’t for any of us in life. Ruling over three worlds might tend to corrupt a person, but we all want—and need—to feel like we have some power over our own lives. Ichigo, in his final year of high school, living on the precipice of adulthood, feels this in more than one way. He had this power. He sacrificed it. And yet now, he’d do anything to get it back. Anything except ask for help.
Tumblr media
You see, asking for help is hard, but especially in the context of “seeking power”, which in this story is an even less veiled metaphor for “growing up” than it usually is in shonen manga. Asking for help means admitting both weakness (you don’t have the power to get what you want right now) and discontentment (there is something you want that you don’t have). For Ichigo, whose primary method of coping with his mother’s death was asserting a premature independence, this would be difficult even if the thing he was seeking wasn’t something he had very publicly given up in front of his friends and family. Yes, there are times when he doesn’t want to involve them to protect them, but a big part of his self-imposed isolation is his own ego, his unwillingness to reveal to people who love him just how miserable he is, out of fear that it will reveal him to be somebody they won’t love anymore.
Tumblr media
And that’s where the Fullbringers come in. Ginjo puts in a tremendous amount of work into getting close to Ichigo—lying to him, giving him little bits of information piecemeal without telling him the whole thing, and of course, offering him power that Ichigo desperately wants. But none of it would be possible if Ichigo didn’t have this preexisting desire to do it all himself, or at least to appear to his friends and family like he’s doing it himself. Ginjo does what nobody else in Ichigo’s life does—offers him assistance without making him ask for it. Hook, line, sinker.
Tumblr media
The body of the arc covers this masterclass in manipulation from Ginjo, and it’s a huge change from what has, up until this point, been a very standard shonen battle manga in terms of content, where the fights happen on a more or less weekly basis. Here, it takes over half the arc for Ichigo to fight anybody! It’s all character development, even for the side characters like Orihime and Chad, who don’t get fights of their own but do get to express themselves and show initiative in ways they were largely denied in the previous arc. It’s all a long, slow burn to the climax, where Tsukishima suddenly strips away the support system that Ichigo had so undervalued, leaving him defenseless against Ginjo’s theft of his power.
Tumblr media
And that’s my big frustration with the climax. It’s not that I like the Karakura kids more than I like the Soul Reapers, although I very well might. It’s that so much work has been put into drawing out and developing these relationships, so much effort put into showing how this is affecting all of them. And it’s not just metatextual effort either—yes, we spend a lot of pagetime with Chad and Orihime and Uryu, but Xcution also targets them all because of their importance to Ichigo! The very story itself recognizes that they’re the support system that Ichigo needs to be an emotionally healthy adult! Any logical resolution must therefore involve them!
Tumblr media
But it doesn’t. Instead, it’s the Soul Reapers, who have not been physically or even narratively present at all for four volumes, who come in and repower Ichigo. They’re the ones who pair up for the fights against Xcution, fights that are very light on the sort of character work that is so characteristic of Bleach fights because there just isn’t the grounding for it! Even the fights that show character are mostly showing development that seemingly occurred off-panel, leaving you wondering when exactly Toshiro and Ikkaku achieved their newfound maturity. But the supporting characters from the bulk of the arc are written out, and even the personal feelings of Shigekuni Genryusai Yamamoto wind up being more important to the narrative.
Tumblr media
This isn’t just unsatisfactory on the level of the supporting characters, it also fatally undercuts Ichigo’s own development. We expect the story to end with him overcoming the challenge set in front of him, which at the beginning is clearly his alienation from the people he loves. But he doesn’t really do that—instead, the Soul Reapers showing up is what solves his problems, which suggests that the actual problem in his life is just “they weren’t around”. I don’t think that’s actually what we’re meant to take away here, and the narrative doesn’t seem to think so either, which is why we end with the character development being passed on to Soul Society instead. They learn something in this arc, which is to trust Ichigo. But he doesn’t seem to have learned a damn thing.
Tumblr media
And that’s what frustrates me so much about this arc: the lost potential, the fact that there was a very obvious story being told that was abruptly discarded, right at the moment it mattered most. There was probably no way Kubo could have fulfilled all the potential of the Arrancar Arc: there were just to many characters, too many storylines. But here, he condensed his writing, narrowed his scope, and still told a compelling story up until he suddenly threw it all away. Whatever the reason for it-- and I have no insight into the editing or business pressures that might have motivated a climax so different from that the story was obviously building to-- it’s disappointing.

Bleach is Cyberpunk II
I've said before that Bleach's general setup is cyberpunk, but the truth is that its general structure is cyberpunk too. It's more or less the direct antithesis of a prototypical shōnen like One Piece, and its closest relative is actually Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. I'll come back to that later.
Ichigo (and Rukia and Kaien, and to some extent Yoruichi and Kisuke) are fundamentally un-Japanese in their nature as characters in outlook, mindset, and attitude, whatever their aesthetics and presentation. You need to understand that Karakura is a symbol of Japanese stagnation as it actually exists, while Soul Society is a kind of Platonic ideal of it. There's an interesting BBC article from a Tokyo correspondent of ten years who asserts:
Japan still feels like Japan, and not a reproduction of America. It's why the world is so thrilled by all things Japanese, from the powder snow to the fashion. Tokyo is home to superlative restaurants; Studio Ghibli makes the world's most enchanting animation (sorry, Disney); sure, J-pop is awful, but Japan is undoubtedly a soft-power superpower. The geeks and oddballs love it for its wonderful weirdness. But it also has alt-right admirers for refusing immigration and maintaining the patriarchy. It is often described as a country that has successfully become modern without abandoning the ancient. There is some truth to this, but I'd argue the modern is more a veneer. When Covid struck, Japan closed its borders. Even permanent foreign residents were excluded from returning. I called up the foreign ministry to ask why foreigners who'd spent decades in Japan, had homes and businesses here, were being treated like tourists. The response was blunt: "they are all foreigners." A hundred and fifty years after it was forced to open its doors, Japan is still sceptical, even fearful of the outside world.
Karakura is metaphorically the modern veneer of the Seireitei (a place whose name literally means "Stagnant Pool of Souls"). The Seireitei, the heart of the secret world of Bleach, is the ancient, and Karakura is the veneer of modernity that exists on its "surface".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Karakura is by proxy also a symbol of stagnancy. As usual, this is directly called out by the manga. Karakura literally represents the death of Ichigo's dreams. (Have you ever wondered why he was working so many jobs while he was depowered and getting as much money as he could? He was planning to leave after graduating high school because he hates Karakura.)
Ichigo shows his defiance of this stagnation by abandoning Japanese cultural norms: he's anti-authority, pseudo-delinquent, defiant, disrespectful, and generally just kind of a punk, but he has a heart of gold. His greatest hope is to effect change.
Tumblr media
When Rukia appears and offers the possibility of changing things, Ichigo jumps at the opportunity.
But the major theme of the manga is that everyone (not just Ichigo) is ultimately ground down by the system and submits to leading quiet lives instead of keeping up resistance to the bitter end. They're defeated. Ichigo stays in Karakura.
You're directly told that grand sweeping gestures and plans don't work. This is the point of Aizen's whole saga. This tells you something about Kubo's politics and more generally reflects the Japanese shōganai (しょうがない) attitude, but that isn't really the point here. What's underlined (but absolutely not highlighted) is that successful resistance is subtle and gradual, corruption of the status quo rather than a revolution against it, whether it be along political (Shunsui, Nayura), informational (Kisuke, Shūhei), or scientific (Kisuke, Mayuri) lines. This is actually a primary focus of CFYOW as a text if you read between the lines.
I've said before that Bleach is basically an antishōnen because it subverts the whole nakama premise, and I've doubled down on that, but it's also one thematically, because it's also about world-weary cynicism and the gradual disaffection of youth: "growing up" to set aside "childish ideas" like changing the world.
It's initially set up like a typical shōnen only to bait-and-switch you. You wanted a raucous punk adventure? Well fuck you, you get a depressingly realistic death of dreams, just veiled in goofy supernatural metaphor.
This is why I say its closest relative is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, something from Studio Trigger which you initially think is going to end in a triumphant defeat of Arasaka by David and company, much like their previous Kill La Kill did, only to end in tragedy. Ichigo, like David, is "built different" only for it to ultimately not make a difference in the end. Rukia, like Lucy, comes into his life and completely changes it. Orihime, like Rebecca, really wants nothing more than to be noticed by him as a woman.
Unlike their counterparts in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Ichigo and Orihime don't actually die. But their hopes and dreams do. Ichigo doesn't want to be in Karakura, but he is. Everyone has chosen to knuckle down because:
Tumblr media
And when does Yhwach appear? When Ichigo and Orihime get married? No. When Kazui is born? No. Only when Rukia shows up again. Huh. It's almost like they chose to be miserable just to survive rather than go out in a blaze of personal defiance but couldn't quite extinguish that last spark, and that's what Yhwach keyed in on.
It's a bad ending where the system wins, because the system is too big for any one person to overcome. Even when Yhwach is defeated, Soul Society and the reincarnation cycle and all its inequities continue to trundle on, just like Arasaka and really the megacorps in general of which Arasaka is merely one. (And even in Cyberpunk—the setting not the genre—in actuality behind the megacorps still stand the national governments. There is always a bigger fish.)
Everyone just has to make their peace with the nature of the world or die as they're crushed by it.
Tumblr media
If fate is a millstone then we are the grist. There is nothing we can do.
And then you get No Breathes From Hell, where everyone is smiling again! But...
Tumblr media
... They learn they're all destined to go to Hell, among other things. I told you about the bigger fish. So not only did nothing actually change, but really everything only got that much worse. Which again is pretty much a hallmark of cyberpunk settings.

Note
I wanna see Nagisa transfer to karakura high-school. Imagine him being able to sense hollows but not see them die to sheer killing intent or whatever.
Imagine nagisa killing a hollow without even seeing one. God thats badass. Also there's no bleach crossovers for Ass class i can find and its a crime
Ichigo takes one look at this soft-looking blue boy and is like "odd hair color gang" and things roll from there. Eventually Grimmjow shows up and does a double take.

Bad Boys Never win
Tumblr media
✨Summary: You go to Karakura Town High School a school known for gangs and delinquents. While leaving at the end of a school day you encounter trouble, that you believe you can handle but once that trouble starts it turns out to be more than you can handle
📃Wordcount: Around 3K
💙I saw the Bleach April Fools dating sim back in April and this idea popped into my head and I got to writing. I always loved this look on Uryu since the day I found the official art on Pinterest. So happy to see it redone in an anime-like style if if it was for an April Fool's joke.
❌Warnings: Cursing, violence against women, talk of blood and injuries.

It was your decision not to get involved with the students of Karakura High, you just wanted to have peace. Little did you know keeping your head down and out of trouble made you a target.
Getting good grades gets people intrigued in you, but mix that with going out of your way to not interact with anyone, and people get the idea that you think you are better than them. Joining a gang was law here and not doing that also put you in the spotlight.
Your arms felt like they were going to fall off as you tried to scrub the profanity on the desk, “They really used a good marker this time.” You said to yourself as you dipped the rag in water again.
“You know my offer still stands.”
You rolled your eyes, Where did she even come from? You looked up to see Rukia Kuchiki, who was the leader of one of the most influential girl gangs in school.
Rukia jumped off the desk she was sitting on and stood in front of you looking down at the words. They were slightly smudging but she could still read them.
Ignoring her you scrubbed harder. "I'm offering you a helping hand. Join my group and I'll make sure stuff like this never happens." Rukia's tone was serious.
"What's the catch?" You weren’t interested but it wouldn’t hurt to entertain the idea, Rukia smirked. “Smart. I need a tutor and seeing as you are in the top Te-”
“Absolutely not.” You cut her off.
Rukia gave you a look that would scare most people as you dried the table the words weren't gone but they were now unreadable due to smudging. You threw the cloth over your shoulder and walked away struggling with the bucket. Rukia grabbed one side.
“My brother has been cutting my allowance due to my dropping grades but I do have money saved, I can pay you, and on top of that I can offer you protection.”
The last thing you needed was to be seen with Rukia Kuchiki, even if it was just to study. You paused as if thinking about her proposition. "I've been at this school two years I'm used to how the students treat me, protection is the least of my worries. I'm sorry but you'll have to find another tutor."
Without another word, you grabbed the bucket from her and left the classroom.
______________________________________________________________
Despite it being late afternoon there were students lingering after school. You would think delinquents would want to leave the school grounds as soon as possible yet they stayed to do who knows what. You walked through the halls towards the back of the school as it was the faster path to take. A bunch of guys hung around a fence, you paid them no mind.
"Hey!"
One of them shouted. You kept walking as if you didn't hear him almost reaching the exit, suddenly someone violently grabbed your arm. "Didn't hear me talking to you? Huh?" He sneered looking you all over, once he realized who you were he laughed. "You one of those top students ain't yah? Say we need help with homework care to come with us." He looked over to his group of friends who had devilish smiles on their faces.  "Will give you drinks as a thank you."
You took note of the white ties and school uniforms it was obviously Nnoitra and his group. They were known for forcing girls to date them and do other things. Just your luck.
"Why does everyone suddenly need a tutor..." You said to yourself, taking your arm out of his grip and walking off once again.
"That wasn't something you could say no to." You knew he was coming at you. When Nnoitra reached you, you turned around and kicked him in the nuts he let out a sharp gasp. His whole team looked at you in shock.
"You should have seen that coming from a mile away."
These words broke them out of their shocked trance as they ran to grab you. It was pretty easy to dodge them all, with each dodge you made sure to back up closer to the exist. That was until one of his henchmen put his leg out behind you causing you to fall.
“Shit.”
Your skirt got caught on the fence ripping it slightly, thank god you wore safety shorts every day.
"Girl with a smart mouth but no sense, I can't wait to shut you up. Fuck her up." Nnoitra said with wide-crazed eyes. He had somewhat recovered "I want the last hit as payback doe." You tried to get up but were pushed down every time.
One of Nnoitra’s henchmen had you by the collar and was about to hit you. While you closed your eyes you traced back all of your decisions, trying to figure out where it all went wrong all while accepting the fact that they were going to beat you. You opened your eyes no punch ended up landing.
Instead, the guy fell to the ground screaming in pain. "Hurting a girl on school grounds, are you really that dumb?" You looked up and saw a guy with glasses and slick back hair. Of course, you recognized him from Kurosaki's gang but his name escaped you at the moment.
"Ishida." Nnoitra snorted. "My lucky day huh?" Ishida pushed up his glasses and then sighed. "Unfortunately it is not mine..."
Uryu. Uryu Ishida. The name now comes to you had seen it on the grades listing, he was a top student, number one in fact.
"Make sure to get him and get him good," Nnoitra commanded. All three guys ran at Uryu, he took the book that was in his hands and threw it at the guy to his left causing him to fall.
The guy in the middle came at him but he dodged it. Uryu was able to land a punch on him but the middle guy didn't go down.
A guy to Uryu's right slammed into his side but Uryu stayed standing. The guy then began punching him, Uryu lifted his leg and slammed it into him as the guy went to catch his breath causing him to fall to his knees and then lay down. A crowd of leftover students was now starting to form at the windows of the school.
Sadly that left him open and Uryu got punched in the face. He staggered a bit his nose bleeding, he wiped it with his sleeve and went back to fighting. You were in awe at his fighting, Uryu really had skill. "I guess that's why he's in Kurosaki's gang." you thought as you watched.
Your thoughts were interrupted as you were picked up and slammed right into the fence. "I didn't forget about you," Nnorita yelled at you. He raised his leg to kick, knowing exactly where he was aiming you put up your hand to block the blow.
Nnorita staggered a little and then slumped over you, blood could be seen falling from his head. "Who da..." He healed his head and turned around. All his henchmen were on the dirt-filled school grounds, and Uryu stood right behind him.
"You wanna leave the damn girl alone?" He fixed his glasses so they now lay straight on his face. Nnorita turned around with a scream and went to punch him. Uryu dodged it but it was a fake out and he was hit with Nnorita's left, the blow landing on his stomach causing Uryu to fall to his knees. As he went down Nnorita kicked him in the same place. Uryu was trying hard to catch his breath it also sounded like he was trying not to bring up his lunch as well.
Nnorita turned back to you putting his hands around your neck and squeezing. Was he serious? He was really trying to kill you on school grounds.  You wasted no time taking a finger from each of his hands and bending it backward, breaking both of them. The pain was so severe that Nnorita had to lean his shoulder on the fence for support, he let out a roar.
Nnorita was in a lot of pain and he wasn’t fighting back. Uryu took this opportunity to get up from the ground. He picked Nnorita up by his collar slamming him against the fence. "I don't want to see you or your group hurt a girl on school grounds ever again. If I do I'll make sure you won't recover." Uryu’s voice was straightforward and stern but it did not scare you.
Nnorita shook his head in agreement, only to be slammed back into the fence, a whimper escaping his lips. "I need you to say it." Nnorita shook his head again and in a raspy voice said, "I promise...I promise to not hurt a girl on school grounds again, you have my word." With that, Uryu dropped him and walked to pick up his book. He brushed it off. "Glad I didn't bring a library book today..."
The crowd that had formed at the school windows broke away as if nothing had happened. Uryu turned to look at you, your legs didn't move even though your mind wanted them to. He looked you up and down as he walked. He squatted in front of you causing you to flinch. "Didn't mean to startle you but your skirt's ripped." He said looking it over.
"Oh." Your cheeks warmed up as you looked down at the tare in his hands, he stood up. "I can fix it for you, that is…if you want me to.” He looked away pushing his glasses up his beatup face.
"You-you don't have to I think you did enough."
"You could also use some first aid."
That was when you noticed that you had some scrapes and cuts, his wounds seemed to be way worse than yours though. Bruised up face, a cut lip, and dried blood resting under his nose his breathing was also still staggered. It was a miracle he was still standing.
"I think you need it more than I do. In fact, we should probably get you to a hospital."
"I am definitely not going to the hospital," Uryu said with a tone that sent a chill down your spine. "We can go to the infirmary. I shouldn’t have a problem getting a key." He simply stated with a cold tone.
_____________________________________________________________
You sat on a cot looking around the infirmary as Uryu walked around the room grabbing things in complete silence. He stopped in front of you and extended his hand, a pair of gym pants in it.
"Here change into these so I can fix the skirt."
This was awkward, so awkward.
You closed the curtain and changed into the sweatpants, then handed him the skirt. Uryu pulled out a mini sewing kit from his uniform pocket. "You...carry around a sewing kit?" Curiosity and confusion mixed as you spoke.
"Am I not allowed to?" He said as he began pinning up the skirt.
"I didn't say that it's just-"
"That you wouldn't expect me to be into sewing." Uryu shot a glance at you as he finished your sentence. You felt as if you said something wrong. To distract yourself from the weird atmosphere you began to patch yourself up.
Ironically you both finished at the same time, he handed you the skirt and you looked it over, it was almost like there was never a tare he really had talent.
"You're welcome. Make sure to return the sweatpants tomorrow." He began to pack up his mini sewing kit.
"Wait..." He hummed in response. "Aren't you going to patch yourself up?" You asked. "I can do that when I get home." He simply answered.
That was when you walked up to him, Uryu looked at you puzzled, and without warning you put both hands on the side of his face. His cheeks turned red but this went unnoticed by you as the bruises hid the color.
"Isn't your mom going to say something when she sees this?”
“My mom…’ Uryu whispered to himself, his whole expression changing. It was obvious that you had brought up something. You cursed yourself for that and searched your mind to change the subject to something else.
'Why don't I patch you up?" He took your hands off his face. "Absolutely not!"
"It's my thank you. You saved me from a creep and sewed up my skirt. It's the least I can do."
"Well, I-"
You cut him off. "You never took off your glasses during the fight, so I can assume you can't see the best without them. You're going to have to take them off to patch yourself up. You're not going to be able to see what you're doing. Am I right?"
Uryu sighed slightly annoyed. "Your quiet observant..."
"It doesn't take that many brain cells to figure out your blind." Uryu pushed up his glasses. "I'm not blind, I just can't see that well without something to correct my vision." He closed his eyes thinking, then reopened them a few seconds later. "I don't have much homework to do, so I guess it's fine."
Without any hesitation, you grabbed the first aid kit and he sat down taking off his glasses. You walked up and put your hand on his face moving it around gently. “Has anyone ever told you that you have a nice facial structure? You should model." You dabbed the bloody spots with the soaked cotton swob.
"No, nor do I have an interest in such a thing."
"Lost cause." You tossed the cotton swab and grabbed another one putting alcohol on it, this time you dabbed it on the cut on his nose. His eyebrows frowned but his straight face remained causing you to chuckle.
"What's so funny?”' He asked nonchalantly. "You trying to keep a straight face like you have an image to uphold."
"I kind of do."
"Oh really." You threw the cotton swab in the trash can and placed a bandaid on the cut. “I am a part of Kurosaki’s gang, I kind of have to look tough in order to not bring down their representation.” You walked away and came back with an ice pack in hand.
“I promise not to tell anyone if you whine or whimper.” You sarcastically said placing the ice pack on his face. "Didn’t know the gang was that well known.”
"You didn't?” He looked at you with an air of suspicion. “I don’t have much interest in the gang life here. I’m not even a part of one. I just want to graduate and move on with my life.”
Uryu raised an eyebrow at you, finding interest in what you had said. “So…that means you have no protection here.” He he lifted his hand but quickly put it back down as he remembered he had no glasses on.
"I'm surviving. All they do is bully me for being stuck up. The worst is they spread a rumor but those die down after a few days." He was looking at you, your eyes beginning to water.
You wondered why they did that, you didn’t care what they did to you but for some reason saying it out loud made you feel…empty and alone. Your face was blurry to him but he could tell you were upset. Uryu put his hand on yours as you held the ice pack.
“Dosn’t it get lonely?” He asked knowing exactly what loneliness felt like, she had no one, and that had him concerned. Uryu knew how it felt to be belittled and have no one to go to or talk to. That road was empty and endless, that was how he ended up at this school despite his good grades. Even though he was at odds with them sometimes, if he didn’t join Kurosaki’s gang, where would he be? Probably in and out of jail and forgotten by his father.
You stayed silent not wanting to answer his question, he spoke. “I understand that feeling too well, you should definitely talk to someone. I know this is out of place for me but if you ever feel lonely you can come and talk to me if I have time."
“Uryu…” You said in a whisper.
He looked up at you with wide eyes.
"Your kind of... crushing my hand,” That was when he noticed that he had a hard grip on your hand. “Sor-sorry.” He stuttered and took his hand off of yours, you also removed yours causing the ice pack to drop.
"I got it." Uryu beat you to it but hit his head on the table on his way back up. “Damn.” He said as placed the ice pack on his head, you tried to hide your laugh but couldn't, bursting into laughter. Despite the new pain he ended up smiling cause you weren’t upset anymore.
__________________________________________________________
By the time you both walked out of the school, the sky was a deep blue and the streetlights were on. “Do you mind if I walk you home?” Uryu asked. You looked taken aback, he cleared his throat.
“It’s late. I don’t think it’s smart to let you walk home on your own. Especially after what happened today.” He explained, you looked at him with a smile. “I wouldn’t mind.”
The walk wasn’t that eventful, you asked him questions here and there but his answers were quick and abrupt. Uryu didn’t talk much either it was mainly you starting conversations. Despite this, it didn’t feel all that long and you were almost home.
"Can I ask you a question?"
Uryu pushed up his glasses. "Seeing as you've been asking them all evening I guess I wouldn't mind another."  For some reason, you found the way he talked endearing, though most people would see it as rude.
“Why did you help me today?" Uryu looked up at the dark sky. "Do I need a reason to protect someone?"
You shrugged at his answer, and he sighed. “Well, beating up a girl for refusing advances is quite gross. They needed some sense beat into them.”
“Thank you.” You blurted out, he looked at you straight-faced.
“There's no need for that, it's just common sense."
"I mean, you could have just left me after you won yet you took time to fix my skirt and see if I was okay, that was sweet of you."
"Sweet of me," Uryu said to himself, a rosey tint forming on his cheeks. “Oh, we're here.” You said looking at the apartment complex.
"Thanks again," you repeated snapping him out of his trance. You turned toward the stairs away from him and turned right back. "Do you...mind if I get your number?”
Uryu looked at you wide-eyed. "My number?" Confusion could be heard in his voice. “You said you understood the feeling of being lonely so I thought…maybe we can exchange numbers, so if we ever felt lonely we could just text each other.” You played with the strap of your bag.
You just met this guy and now you were asking for his number. While every fiber of your being wanted to crawl under a rock. Something made you determined to stay in touch with the young man.
“I guess..it couldn’t hurt.” He answered as he took out his phone. “I will warn you that I might take time to answer back. I still have school duties as a class president.”
“Really?!?! I didn’t know you were president of your class.” You looked at him with shock, Uryu smiled at you. “I see you truly don’t keep up with what happens at this school.” Both of you exchanged numbers and bid each other a good night.
______________________________________________________________
Uryu sat on his bed staring at your contact on his phone. He was wracking his head around today's events. How he met you and how you just blatantly asked for his number.
It was all very random but it made him happy. It was a weird and new feeling for him but he welcomed it. The phone he held in his hand vibrated, he flipped it open and read the text immediately;
Srry for the late reply. Glad you got home safe, hope to see you soon.
He closed the phone with a smile on his face.

[During English class in Karakura Town High School.] Ichigo: Define "dream." *looks over to Uryu* How did you answer to this question? Uryu: Dream - the first thing people abandon when they learn how the world works. Ichigo: WHAT- That's too dark!

I really enjoy your writing. You put aom kuch thought into any aspect it's commendable as heck!
If it's okay to ask, how do you think Rukia would greet a new student to Karakura High? What if that new student had formed the ability to see Hollow and eventually materialize a Zanpakuto?
AHHHH THIS IS VERY COOL!!!
Rukia hcs for a new kid at school!!
Well, first, she would just treat you like a classmate, she wouldn’t realize you could see hollows until you interacted with one or told someone (her or anyone else and she found out via them) or if you asked her where she had been after she thought she erased everyone’s memory of her.
The moment she finds out she is
1. Excited, happy to teach someone (esp if you aren’t all stubborn and pushy like Ichigo, no offense Ichi love you)
2. So fucking worried and stressed like lord help her she does not want a life on her hands (T-T)
When you both found out you could use a Zanpakuto she was ecstatic. She was so so happy the tiny girl was vibrating. She would explain everything to you via drawings and if you complimented them she will love you forever.
She’s happy to teach you how to wield your Zanpakuto, but she might push off some responsibilities on others (mainly Urahara or Ichigo.. or Renji if he’s there)
She doesn’t want to introduce you to Kon especially if you’re a feminine person, she will roundhouse kick him away from you.
Overall she’s just Rukia, and Rukia is awesome.
- Giselle!!! Also Tysm for the compliments anon

Kasumi Miwa reminds me of Ochako Uraraka only Miwa is better written.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've had similar thoughts too, anon. I think there is something interesting to be learned by comparing characters like Miwa and Uraraka who have similiar origin stories, motivations and even kind of similiar personalities and how they fit into the story. To preface this so I don't get hate in my inbox, I'm actually going to try not to be negative towards Uraraka here. Uraraka and Bakugo are the two hero kids I am the most invested in. Someone asked me to compare Miwa and Uraraka and so I'm comparing them. There's actually something to be learned here!!! It's an interesting discussion to see how Uraraka and Miwa are both written in their respective stories.
1. Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice
Now, I'm going to start the post by saying I actually think it is fine for a female character to basically just be a nice, normal teenage girl. Why would I say something so controversial yet so Brave? I know characters like say, Sakura get a lot of flack for being more down to earth when they are the only female in the trio while their male counterparts have these huge sweeping high drama. However, I feel like authors try to overcorrect for this by trying way too hard to make a character who's "not like all the other girls." So they eschew things like, say, femininity, or timid characteristics, or even any weakness a female character might have in order to make them try to stand out more.
Here is the thing though, you can make a character that's EXACTLY like the other girls and have them be just as compelling as any of the boy characters. What makes a character compelling isn't really the circumstances surrounding them, their backstory, how powerful they are, it's just their character arc, their emotions, their personal perspective and how they change over the course of the story. Low-stakes characters, or normal girl characters, can be just as compelling if the author puts time into developing them. There's a reason people read Slice of Life.
Just two examples, people get super invested in Haikyuu and Haikyuu isn't super high drama it's about a bunch of normal high school kids getting invested in high school volleyball and why it's worth it to put effort into sports and even like clubs in your high school years even if you're not going to nationals, or you're not going to play proffesional volleyball. Haikyuu is the one sports manga that's about how it's okay to lose at the sport today, because you might win at something else tomorrow. Another example is My-Dress up Darling, another slice of life series that does not have huge stakes but you can get really invested in it because Marin's enthusiasm for cosplay, a hobby, and the genuine joy she gets over putting a lot of effort to dress up as characters is something the audience can share in her feelings and enjoy it right alongside her. Like, there are a lot of cosplayers in the real world, and cosplay is just a hobby but it's something they put a lot of effort in, it matters to them.
To add onto this Orihime is my favorite shonen female lead of any big and popular shonen jump manga, and she has a lot of traits that people criticize Sakura for. She is not a soul reaper, she is not the most powerful character in the series, she is sometimes helpless, she has a crush on a boy. However! Orihime is supposed to be a normal teenage girl, trying to be helpful in this conflict where all of these characters are super OP, like the captains, the quincy, the hollow and Ichigo himself. Orihime's personal struggles are just as important to the story as other characters who are stronger than her. If anything Orihime grounds the story because it shows us the perspective of a normal person struggling in these circumstances when she's not a quincy-hollow-soulreaper-human hybrid like Ichigo. If anything, she embodies what I like about Ichigo that he's just a normal kid who only wants to protect his neighborhood of Karakura town even better because she just turns out to be a normal human who got one special ability in the end more focused on healing then physical strength. What matters is that I know what Orihime's FEELINGS are with her personal struggles, and I can connect to those as a reader.
Sorry this is a long introduction to a question about Miwa and Uraraka's characters, but I just wanted to make my point there's nothing wrong with girls who are sweet and nice and down to earth they can be just as interesting as their male counterparts.
Miwa and Uraraka both have similiar origins, and role in the stories, they give the perspective of a normal teenage girl. When other characters are struggling with bigger issues, they fight against things like low-self esteem or trying to find their place against their stronger, more ambitious counterparts. One similarity they share is in their very first arc, they are placed in a fight against someone stronger and much more ambitious than they are. For Uraraka it's Bakugo, for Miwa it's Maki.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uraraka's personal insecurities are introduced to us in the battle tournament arc, first that she's not being a hero to rescue people like Deku or out of a big ambition to be number one like Bakugo but because she wants to help pay for her parents who are poor. At this point Uraraka has not really thought through her own feelings about why she wants to be a hero, especially because she's becoming a hero to help someone else not for her own reasons.
A big theme for Uraraka's character is she's very considerate to other people but constantly repressing or ignoring his own feelings. In other words she builds other people up (especially Deku) to put herself down. So, this comes to a head where she has only entered the tournament to get scouted, and get a better chance of making money, and she is up against someone who is deeply passionate and fighting to win.
Uraraka is extremely intimidated by Bakugo and down on herself at first, especially when the first few rounds she doesn't feel like she was giving her best or treating this seriously in comparison to her friends, and when Deku offers her his help for the fight it makes Uraraka feel worse because she thinks she should be the one doing these things for herself. Then we see her put everything into the fight against Bakugo, and still lose. Now, it's disappointing that a female character loses a pretty major fight, but emotionally the moment still works because the audience knows how Uraraka feels about this. Say you study for two weeks every single night for a big test, and you still do poorly that's hard to cope with that loss because it makes all the hard work you do put in feel like wasted effort. Characters are just as compelling when they lose then when they win.
Miwa goes through a similiar initial fight in her tournament arc, albeit with a lot less screentime. Miwa becomes a sorcerer for selfish reasons, it's literally just a job for her. If anything, she acts more selfihsly than Uraraka at first, because Miwa is straight up willing to kill Itadori the main character, because it will 1) gain her more favor at Jujutsu High, and 2) give her a better chance at promotion. I think this is something that's rarely mentioned about Miwa, she is a nice and well meaning person but she was also totally willing to commit murder.
Tumblr media
Miwa doesn't harbor any ill will towards Itadori, she also feels sorry about it, but that doesn't stop her from doing it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Miwa's not trying to excuse herself, and at least she knows that she's doing the wrong thing, but to state this for a third time she's perfectly willing to go along with a plan to kill an innocent person because she'll personally benefit from it. She is driven by poverty and outside circumstances, but she doesn't really consider Yuji's feelings or circumstances at all. You could also say this is where "useless" Miwa begins her arc, because she personally disagrees with the group but doesn't stand up against them either.
Miwa ends up in a fight against Maki and just like Bakugo and Uraraka, Miwa is someone much less motivated and ambitious than Maki. Miwa's problems are more down to earth and realistic she needs money to survive because she's poor (not to like... understate how hard being poverty is on children it's actually horrible) in comparison to Maki's horribly abusive childhood and her parents who later on in the story literally try to kill her. Miwa's less ambitious in comparison she's just trying to survive, Maki's trying not only to climb all the way to the top, she's trying to destroy the clan structure that abused her. Opposite to Uraraka and Bakugo though, Uraraka knows how serious an opponent Bakugo is and tries to match his intensity whereas Miwa totally udnerestimates Maki and gets so overwhelmed she can't keep up and loses to a pretty small mistake.
Tumblr media
So, here are their introductory arcs, they are both met with characters who are stronger and more ambitious than them, and they both fail and are left disappointed in themselves.
The next commonality they share in their arc is they experience a moment of being unable, or unhelpful in saving someone. For Uraraka this happens twice but I think the bigger and more personal moment is when the kids all gather to deicde whether or not to try to save Bakugo on their own and Uraraka, well-meaning, nice Uraraka who idolizes Deku's desire to save people doesn't join in. Her stated reason is that she doesn't want their help and so they should leave it to All Might. Once again, we have this flaw showing itself of Uraraka being so considerate of other people's feelings it makes her indecisive because she's too afraid to step on other people's toes.
Tumblr media
Afterwards, Uraraka regrets that she is not one of the people who lept at the oppurtunity to save Bakugo. Uraraka also has a similiar experience later on when Sir Nighteye essentially dies in her arms and there is little she can do about that fact except watch. She confides in Aizawa afterwards how upsetting this was. It's hard to go further in on this part because Uraraka herself wasn't really the focus of that arc.
Miwa's arc after the Kyoto battle arc becomes tied in with Mechamaru's arc, mainly in her attempt to reach out to Mechamaru and grow closer in them, and the tragedy that she wasn't able to reach him in time because by that point Mechamaru was the traitor to Jujutsu High and he made a deal with Mahito to fix his body.
This is a much more tragic arc for both Mecharu and Miwa and one that has extremely personal and devastating consequences for both of them. The thing is Miwa was perfectly fine with Kokichi's body the way it was, he didn't need to change anything about himself. Miwa always wanted to grow closer to him. If she hadn't been so hesitant and afraid of losing him and had communicated that much sooner than Kokichi might never have made his deal with Mahito to fix his body.
Tumblr media
Kokichi is also a character who was too afraid to reach out to his friends, and too afraid of losing them. Miwa's fear of losing Mechamaru makes her keep distance between them until the last moment and it's too late. Kokichi's fear of losing Miwa makes him first get overprotective of her and all of his friends, deciding to fight on his own because he's too afraid of putting them at risk. Number two, he doesn't confide his feelings in any of his friends because he is trying to be strong and fix everything on his own.
Miwa's character is revolving around her feelings for a boy (oh no), but it's actually a pretty effective arc, number one because it's about Miwa's flaws (her low self worth and her indecisiveness) and it's about Kokichi's flaws (his overprotectiveness and decision to isolate himself).
Tumblr media
Number two, Miwa is the survivor of this arc. When Mechamaru dies it's about her feelings over him, it's about her having to live with her pain and her regrets about not helping in time after.
Tumblr media
There is a lot of potentail for Miwa's arc afterwards, her surviving the lost of not only Mechamaru but Mai too. I am incredibly interested in how she will cope with these losses especially since when she appeared after Yuta's fight she looked really ominous. Kamo Noritoshi one of her classmates was also in a really dark place when we saw him working with Maki.
Tumblr media
Okay, now this is the part where I start talking about Uraraka negatively in comparison to Miwa. After the Yakuza arc in My Hero Academia we see a shift in Uraraka's character, where her character become less about her own personal motivations and rather her feelings about Deku.
Someone has made a much longer and more detailed meta about how Uraraka's best ending point is her actually leaving her admiration of Deku behind and find out how she wants to be her own hero. Story wise though, I think the plot has lost track of what Uraraka's personal thoughts, feelings and struggles are. She is being used as a narrative tool for two things, one Toga's redemption, and two supporting Deku. Uraraka's big speech in the story itself, her big moment to shine is giving a speech that's basically for Deku's sake, about Deku's feelings. I actually don't think a romance arc is bad for a character to have, I went into detail why Miwa's feelings for a boy are actually super compelling in the story it takes place in.
Uraraka being a more support focused hero, isn't a bad thing! Uraraka not wanting to step into the spotlight isn't a bad thing! Orihime does the same thing in Bleach, a lot of her character is how she doesn't want to be left behind by Ichigo and she wants to be helpful to him. However, Orihime has relationships with other characters besides Ichigo that are complex. Orihime envies Rukia for how naturally Rukia and Ichigo get along and support each other but at the same time Rukia is an incredibly close personal female friend and she is someone Orihime confides in. Orihime spends her time in Hueco Mundo bonding with Ulquiorra, to the point where Ulquiorra's fight with Ichigo is something that tears her apart and fills her with doubt. Orihime and Ishida are always characters who have interacted, Ishida watches her when Ichigo runs off. Uraraka's problem is really serving as a narrative tool to service other peopel's plotlines, Toga, and Deku but Uraraka herself as a character doesn't get much development.
I actually think this is a problem with Bakugo too, he used to be a character about trying to find his own definition of heroism when he doesn't really have the demeanor of a hero. Now, Bakugo's entire character has devolved into his rivalry and relationship with Deku when he used to talk to other characters besides Deku and he also used to focus on himself.
Miwa on the other hand, as I discussed above is the survivor of her tragic personal arc with Kokichi. If she continues on as a character it's all going to be Miwa's feelings in dealing with that.
I also want to mention, Uraraka is a much more major character than Miwa, she has a lot more screentime in the novel, she gets into more fights. Miwa has only had one fight so far! Yet, at the same time Miwa's arc is harder hitting because it's about Miwa's feelings first and foremost. When Miwa is given focus it's all about her, and we know what her feelings about things are. If anything, Miwa is allowed to be a lot more messy, because she is weak, she is helpless, she hates herself for being these things, she breaks down crying in the most messy way possible. Miwa's personal flaw of being "useless' is compelling because there are actually pretty devastating consequence for her not pushing herself harder, like the likes of Maki.
On the other point other than her idealization of Deku it's a bit hard to tell what Uraraka's character flaw is at this point. Uraraka's got to be there to support Deku and so she doesn't make the same kind of horrible mistakes that Miwa does, and suffer than kind of loss. Uraraka used to be a girl first, and a hero second. Miwa's still just a normal girl, struggling to be a jujutsu sorcerer in a world that has taken way too much of her youth like all the other characters. So, I would say the reason people find Miwa compelling is because she fits into her story more. She fits the themes of the story of another youth dealing with horrible loss because Jujutsu Society just takes, and takes, and takes. She provides a unique perspective because she treats Jujutsu Sorcery as a job, and she's one of the few main characters who doesn't have cursed technique, and she's also not struggling to be the strongest like Maki. I don't know where Uraraka fits in the story, except how she can be of service to other character's arcs.
That is effectively the difference between them, they are equally complex characters riddled with insecurity and struggles but Miwa's struggles are focused on where Uraraka's have been out of focus as of late to be what the plot needs her to be.

Qualifying Rounds
After 851 submissions and 346 total schools, submissions are now officially closed. The bracket rounds will consist of 256 schools. All schools that got two or more submissions are guaranteed a place in the bracket rounds. Schools that got only one submission will have to go through qualifying rounds to get to the brackets. There are 214 schools with only one nomination, and 125 available spots in the bracket. Following the qualifiers, schools will be seeded according to the number of submissions they received.
Qualifiers will consist of 43 polls, with each poll containing five possible schools. The polls were created using a randomizer. The two schools with the most votes will immediately advance to the bracket round. The school with the third most votes has a good chance of advancing as well, but not guaranteed. There are 38 spots available for the 43 third place winners. Thus, I'll be eliminating the 4 third place winners with the least number of votes (numbers as opposed to percentages).
(I know this all seems very convoluted, but I am an English major trying to do math, this is about as well as it was ever going to go.)
I'll be posting six polls a day (except for the last day where I'll be spicing it up by posting seven!) Below the cut you can see which polls will be posted each day. If the school you submitted doesn't appear in the qualifiers, then congratulations, that means it got two or more votes and has immediately advanced to the bracket stage.

in the arms of your protector.
ichigo kurosaki x fem.reader
to say your boyfriend panicked the moment you passed out in front of him would be a complete understatement.
your day started out normal enough; you woke up and felt a little nauseated, which further prompted you to skip breakfast. your mother takes your temperature and notes that you weren't running a fever, but still asked if you wanted to skip just in case. you, being the lovesick teen that you were, declined her offer and decided to attend classes anyways solely because you wanted to see your boyfriend.
the moment you stepped out of your home and saw the familiar figure of your beloved boyfriend waiting for you, you felt your heart get caught within your throat. he greets you with a tiny smile as you went up to press a gentle kiss against his cheek, making him turn as red as a strawberry. you went to school with ichigo standing beside you, and couldn't feel any happier. of course, on your way to karakura high, he stood closer to the side of the street so as to protect you from any incoming traffic.
you recall feeling so warm at his kindness, hanging on to his arm just so you could nuzzle your cheek against him. ichigo couldn't help but look down at you with a softness in his chocolate brown eyes he reserves only for you. you make small talk about your plans for the upcoming weekend and settle on watching that new movie along with some dinner afterwards at your favorite restaurant.
altogether, you had the perfect start to your day.
so why was it that now, while in the middle of having lunch with ichigo and his friends, that your body felt so heated? your head was pounding, and you kept picking at the lunch your mother had packed for you.
even the tiniest bite sent your stomach reeling, and you had to force down the gag that threatened to spill from your lips. it was just so strange, normally the sight and smell of all of your favorite foods wouldn't make you feel so sick, so why-
a deep voice calling out your name almost breaks you out of your haze, but you end up falling over, your bento box spilling its contents on the floors as a strong pair of arms catches you.
cue another panicked cry of your name until your whole body became slumped over, finally succumbing to the fever that was slowly taking over your body.
------🍓
when you finally awaken, your eyes were blurry as it took you a few minutes to finally see your surroundings.
the familiar scent of your boyfriend's shampoo surrounds you, and with how bare and tidy this room was, it was clear that you were currently settled on ichigo's bed.
"hey, you scared me back there."
you look to your right to see ichigo with a soft smile on his face. he reaches out to you, large hand gently caressing at your damp forehead, "your fever's finally breaking, but still, i don't want you going anywhere or overexerting yourself."
the more he spoke, the more his eyebrows became furrowed with concern, "i called your mom, and she told me you didn't look so well, yet still went to school anyways. why would you do something so stupid like that?"
you let out a tiny squeak, half hiding your face beneath ichigo's blankets when you admit to him, "i...i just wanted to see you again and spend time with you at school. you know, you're always so busy lately that i couldn't...help but feel that way."
he groans, giving you the deepest scowl on his face while gently knocking the back of his hand against your forehead, "idiot! if you didn't feel well, you should have stayed home."
ah, here it goes, ichigo was going to scold you again. an apology was felt on the tip of your tongue, but you were cut off when he leans over you to press a gentle kiss against your lips.
the sensation of his kiss was enough to make your cheeks burn, feeling the blood rush to them as you looked into your boyfriend's eyes. "you should have stayed home, honestly. it's not like i wasn't going to come and visit you. you need to take better care of yourself."
you nod, feeling yourself falling in love with ichigo all over again thanks to his kindness and how much he cared. he sighs, saying something about getting your soup and some medicine when you suddenly stopped him. your hand grips at his wrist, and you gave him the most pitiful expression you could manage, "ichi, can you stay with me just a little while longer? if you do, i'm sure i'll feel so much better."
"wh-what? don't be ridiculous, you need your medicine to feel better, not me!"
"pleeease ichigo?"
by now, your boyfriend was blushing so much that even his ears were turning red. he refuses to meet your gaze when he sighs, waiting for you to scoot over so that he could join you on his tiny, twin sized bed.
becoming drawn to the warmth he exuded, you cuddle yourself even closer to him. settling your ear directly over his heart, you found comfort in the sounds of its steady beats while letting out a dreamy sigh.
"thank you, ichigo." you softly giggle, pressing your lips against his chest, feeling incredibly comfortable while in the safety of your beloved's arms.
you felt something soft press against your hair as ichigo responds with a simple, "of course, anytime."
and despite how you couldn't see him, you could feel his smile against your skin ♡

Strong thighs barely covered by a pleaded skirt. pink thigh highs carving marks around. Muscular frame, nothing female like, and still, he looks so good like this.
“You look pretty” you mumble, watching at your soon to be husband wear your clothes against the mirror of your room. “I do not. WHY?” the tangerine haired man asks, blushed and barely opening one of his eyes. His hands pull from the lower hem of the pleaded skirt you used to wear during high school. The School of Karakura City’s emblem is still attached to it.
“Because you said you were my baby girl” you purr, coming closer to him from behind. Your arms surround his waist, touching his belly button with the tips of your fingers.
Ichigo squirms underneath your dominant touch, the kiss you plant against his prominent trapezius increasing the arousal. “I- I was joking-“ he stutters, feeling his cheeks and ears become fire.
You lower your hands to the side of his hips, pulling him against your body in a rather violent motion. “You weren’t joking, you wanted this… my sweet baby girl” you whisper, letting your warm breathe caress his neck.
The ginger’s skin becomes bumpy, and as much as he wants to deny it the way his erection begins to lift the skirt shows how much he likes it.
“Will you be my sweet baby girl?” you ask, grazing your palm from his hipbone towards the centre of his crotch. “I- I-“ he has trouble speaking, his legs become weak, it doesn’t matter what you are doing, he is so weak for any of your touching.
You urge him to answer properly, patting softly the bulge forming in between his legs. “I… what? Come on, be a good girl for me” you moan, opening your hand, tracing circles over the skirt pleads and the tip of his sex. It gets the fabric a little wet, and a moan to be ripped out of his mouth.
“I will be your good girl” he says, whispering, low and so tinted in pure shame and shaky breath. The lust takes over his voice and body, he feels humiliated, but Mr. Kurosaki can’t deny it… he wants it.
You smirk, he is able to see your perverted face in the mirror. Your chin rests on his shoulder, and your hand this time goes down and inside the skirt. “Oh… look at how wet you are, my sweet strawberry shortcake” you tell him, playing with his precum in between your fingers.
Ichigo looks to the side, he can’t stand looking at himself, but you won’t allow him to do so, and with your dampened fingertips you catch his cheeks. “Look at yourself, you are so, so gorgeous…” you tell him, acting like the snake that invited Adam and Eve to commit original sin.
“Go ahead and lick the palm of my hand, baby girl” you order, squeezing his cheeks harder for him to stick his tongue out. A little drip of saliva runs from the tip of it to his chest. Something you use for your own convenience, as he licks your palm, and your free hand reaches one of his nipples.
He squirms and grunts while lubricated your fingers pinch and pull and twist from them. He arches his back, maybe unconsciously, maybe not. “Ah… little bitch, already giving me your hole? We are just starting with your boy-clit ” you murmur, now surrounding his hard, throbbing dick with your wet hand.
“I- no- I-“ he stutters; if someone saw this Ichigo surely they wouldn’t recognize him. His blushed cheeks and his needy moans are nothing like he usually is, but how hot is that.
You begin to pump, up and down his dick. His knees hit each other as his legs become weaker and a pool of his precum forms on the ground, previously staining his skirt.
“Shh… baby girl, let me make you come while I prepare your tight hole…” you whisper, jerking him off violently and playing with his perineum, so close to his ass.
He bites his lips, desperate for release. A release you delay, maliciously edging him to dead. Ichigo pleads, begs for you to let him come. And is not until you finally stick one of your fingers inside him that his pupils dilate, and nothing can stop his climax hitting him hard.
It’s the most delightful imagery you have ever seen, the reflection of his eyes turning white, his freckled cheeks becoming more, and more red, his frown showing how he succumbs to pure pleasure.
“And I said you looked gorgeous before? Look at you now, doll!! But… do you know how else you would look perfect? Looking up at me, baby girl ” you finish, turning him around and forcing him to kneel right in front of you.
He pants, still spasming from his orgasm. A little whimpering sound escapes his lungs as his knees hit the ground. You pull from his orange locks to make him crawl towards your sex and while lifting your leg and resting it over the bed you give him full access to your core.
“No time to rest! Suck it, honey and while you do, finger your own little hole for me~” you order; to make him comply is no trouble, Ichigo is so ready to taste your dripping honeys, delightfully enjoying drop of them. Muzzled moans against your sex shows you how while he does so, himself prepares his entrance for your little toy. And, when his tongue had given you enough, and your sex is left throbbing, it’s time to keep playing with your sweet pretty ginger doll’s entrance…
