The Deadly Romantics- Kaz Brekker
the deadly romantics masterlist
Okay, just to make note very quickly and so as not to confuse anybody when there are four total chapters surrounding interviews for the first part of this long ass series: I changed the way that it works.
Basically, tributes will have an eight minute interview before they train, and then a five minute interview after, in the final days before the games. From then, the two surviving tributes will be interviewed twice as well; the first of the post-games interviews will take place while they’re still in the arena and be only two minutes in length, the second a few days after they’ve left it, and it’ll be six minutes.
Chapter specific warnings- a metaphor with a gun is used, there’s a brief mention of the want to bash someones head through a camera, and blood is mentioned once
KAZ BREKKER
“And, to start in on your final group of tributes, I introduce you all to Kaz Brekker!” Kaz sat down on a plush chair as Samantha Merit introduced him, already wishing he could be headed into training rather than doing the interview barely five seconds in. “Mr. Brekker, is to my understanding that your brother, Jordie, volunteered for you years ago? Before you’d taken on the Brekker moniker, of course.”
Kaz stilled, though he forced his external composure to seem relaxed, forced himself to look rather happy that he was being interviewed before he was taken into training and then put up like a pig to the slaughter in the Games.
“Yeah, he did.”
Eight minutes. An eight minute interview, and already, it seemed like Samantha Merit was trying to remind people that Kaz had lost his brother, that he’d become a different person in the years since.
When Jordie had died, Kaz wasn’t placed anywhere. He wasn’t given a home. He was expected to figure out how to live on his own, and so he did. He traded in his name on the ballads for food, for cheese and milk, learned how to threaten the right people and ended up with a place to stay.
It felt as though Samantha had been trying to rub it in his face. Hey, your brother died in a game that the Capitol organizes, one that’s essentially the act of forcing people to hunt other people for sport! Life sucks, but now it’s your turn.
“Do you regret allowing your brother to volunteer for you?” If all the questions were about Jordie, Kaz was ready and willing to make himself as unlikeable as possible. Sponsors could like Y/N. Sponsors were free to find them charming, to want to send along any means of assistance to help them win. Kaz was going into the games to die. He didn’t give a fuck, and bringing up his brother was a clear attempt on Samanthas behalf to open up some really old, only partially healed wounds. Kaz wasn’t going to tolerate it. .
“I didn’t allow him anything,” Kaz said. “Jordie had free will. He did as he pleased. At thirteen, he chose to volunteer for me, because he couldn’t fathom the idea of seeing his little brother die. Someone killed him, and two winners were crowned. It’s how things go in Panem.”
“Would you say that you’re doing this in his honor?”
“Yes,” Kaz lied. He wasn’t doing it to honor anyone. He would’ve much preferred to have been the one who died on those grounds all those years back. “I am doing it for his memory, in memory of the brother who fed the stray dogs. I’ll do right by him in these games, even if that means I do nothing else.”
Samantha gave a sad smile, flipping bright pink hair over a shoulder. “It is to my understanding that you have nobody patiently awaiting your return, in neither the familial or romantic departments.” A minor, and otherwise subtle subject change, but to Kaz, it was obvious.
“I have nobody,” he said. “I rather like it, though. It means I have no one to lose. Nobody loses me, if I don’t make it out.” Aside, perhaps, from Jesper, but he was watching, and he was one of Kaz’s best friends, someone who often moved through to the victors village with his father to give Nikolai whatever it was that he’d wanted from district three.
“Have a bit of faith in yourself, Mr. Brekker,” Samantha leaned forward, allowed a pale hand to rest against Kaz’s knee for a moment. He swallowed, got ready to will the waters to a safe distance as she held it there, but by the time that Kaz had been ready and prepared to deal, her hand was gone.
“I don’t much fancy optimism,” Kaz said.
“Well, do it for District twelve, then,” Samantha said. “Would you tell us the story of how you got your cane, Mr. Brekker?” She was searching for something. Something for viewers to feel sympathetic about, something for them to empathize with.
Kaz wouldn’t tell the real story. Not to anyone.
“I was hunting,” he said. “Tripped over a tree trunk that was a bit too big for fourteen-year-old me to handle. I had someone come to my rescue, though, so I made it out all right.” Half true.
Kaz was rather good at getting past the peacekeepers. He liked often to see how far he could take it, and once, he’d taken it all the way down to district three. He’d tried to rob Colm Faheys home and dropped from the roof, barely managing to avoid the attention of those living nearby.
Colm, furious but understanding, did his best to help Kaz get better. He provided him a fabrikators name and enough cash to get something good once he realized that the leg wouldn’t heal properly. It was the first time that Kaz and Jesper had seen each other, though they didn’t make each others formal acquaintance until a few years later, when Kaz had been slipping out of a house in the victors village and Colm caught him, asked him how his day was. Kaz and Jesper had said the words that kindled their friendship that day, and whenever Colm and Jesper found themselves in the victors village, so too did Kaz. They’d talk for hours, Colm leaving to trade some old weaponry for milk and cheese while they sat in a forest and chatted.
“Do you know this someones name?”
“He never told me, and I never saw him again,” Kaz lied.
Samantha grinned, and Kaz almost did the same. Eight minutes really could go by in a flash if one willed them to.
“Kaz Brekker of District Twelve, everyone!” Whatever she was searching for, Samantha seemed like she’d found it. The people of the Capitol, the sponsors, they certainly liked him, or felt something close to it.
Kaz left, pressing his back against the wall as he watched Y/N get interviewed.
“Do you have any particular thing driving you to win?” Asked Samantha. Y/N nodded.
“Friends and family,” they said. “They’re who keeps me going. They’re who’ve always kept me going.”
“Any friends or family in particular?”
“I’d prefer not to specify,” Samantha had gone searching, and instead of giving names, Y/N had shut it down. Giving names whilst prominent members of the Capitol were watching, whilst the game makers were likely also apart of the audience, it gave them ammo.
The act of being in the games was the gun, the names of close friends and family the bullets to be loaded into it, and the act of making it home after doing anything that could be perceived as an act of rebellion was the gun being shot, bullets going into the heads of the ones you held closest.
“Oh, come on, darling,” Samantha said, even pairing it with a grin. She was trying to coax it out of Y/N, and at the same time, putting them in a very hard spot. On the one hand, if they said the names of people who’d come to mind, they were loading the gun themself. If they lied, they were aiming it at their head and the heads of those they loved.
Lying to the Capitol was an act of rebellion. Y/N knew that, so they must’ve known that lying wasn’t an option, either. It was, if the lie could be convincing enough, but if the lie didn’t do the convincing it was meant to, lying was a death sentence.
“My mother,” they said quickly. “My parents, both of them. My family, generally speaking.” A lie, maybe, but one that was believable enough. It was likely that President Lantsov too would fall for it like everyone else in the Capitol would, or would pretend to.
“Ah,” Samantha said, seemingly disappointed by the response given. “How likely do you assume it is that you’ll make it out of the games?”
“My chances are 1/24,” Y/N said. “I’m trying to air on the side of logic.”
“You will at least try to win, won’t you?”
“That’s certainly in my plans,” they said.
“Good,” Samantha responded, nodding to further state her agreement. “Trying to survive is the only way most actually make it in these games, if you don’t rebel, but rebelling is what gets you killed.”
“I would say that most everything that the Capitol classes as a mistake or an act of rebellion is not such.” disrespecting a peacekeeper, volunteering as tribute, taking more food than is rationed to you, disrespecting a president who was entirely undeserving of any modicum of respect.
“Are you not worried that stating such an opinion is an act of rebellion itself?”
“The games will kill me, or the Capitol will. I’ve never much bothered trying to discern which matters more.” Kaz blinked, shock taking him for a moment.
If they made it out of the games, they may as well have sealed their fate after them for those remarks alone. Anything perceived as an attack on the Capitol was considered rebellious. It was considered dumb, a stupid mistake with drastic consequences, though Kaz couldn’t tell if their words had loaded the gun or fired it.
“Be careful with your words, Y/N.”
Y/N only grinned. “I know I must be,” they said. “Forgive me for not holding my tongue.” A bullshit apology, but one that the Capitol would accept.
“We love spitfires in the Capitol, my dearest tribute,” she said. “You’ll fit right in.”
Samantha sighed after she spoke, standing and giving the crowd a grin.
“Y/N L/N of District Twelve, everyone!”
A moment later, Y/N was walking down the steps, and Alina had something to say as she caught sight of them.
“I would hope that you didn’t just get someone from your family killed,” she said. Y/N shrugged.
“We’re all dead anyway, Alina,” Nina joined Y/N, standing to their left while Alina stood to their right. Kaz, Kaz’s stylist, Genya, and Nikolai followed them as they moved to the exit. “This is Panem. If not the Peacekeepers or the idiots drowning in their Capitol riches, the Games will be what kills me. I have no reason to lie, not when I’m doomed to meet death, no matter what I say or do.”
In Twelve, tiptoeing, choosing your words carefully, it was only necessary around a few select people. It was only necessary around the ones who put themselves on a high horse, the thirty and aboves who’d aged out of the reaping without going into a round of the Games and found themselves carrying a superiority complex. Around them, reminding them that their situations were just as dire as everyone elses, it was the fools play.
In the Capitol, tiptoeing, walking on eggshells, choosing every word however one is meant to go about making a life altering decision, it was constantly necessary. Being bold was not the wise choice. The wise choice in the Capitol was being quiet, complacent in whatever it was that they chose to spoon feed their fellow citizens.
Kaz hated that. He hated looking at them, dressed in their bright yellows and warm pinks and vibrant reds, their ridiculous wigs and extravagant makeup. He hated their fake and posh accents that were only reminiscent of the ones heard in the districts, nothing at all like the ones that ran within them, the weathered and aged voices, accents thick as blood.
He hated looking at them and knowing that they took delight in watching year after year as people died in some pathetic form of tribute, some way to remind people that the Capitol always prevails.
He hated it. He hated every single aspect of the life he lived.
As he knew that he was going in to train and fight to the death, he realized that there was no point in denying that any longer.

Kaz Brekker x fem! Reader - If You Dare
A/n: I should hopefully have some more stuff out soon so... yay! And this request was great, I had so much fun writing this!
Warnings: Possessive/jealous Kaz, language, mentions of murder, I think that's it? You have been warned!
Request: I'd love to request a Kaz Brekker x reader! Maybe one where Kaz and the reader like each other, but haven't said anything yet. One day, Y/N’s brother visits the crow club, (nobody knew she had a brother) and her brother kisses her on the cheek and greets her and everything. Just some jealous/possessive Kaz not knowing the context of the cheek kiss, maybe some fluff too where Y/N and Kaz admit their feelings in the end :)) Tysm for reading❤️❤️
I do not own Six of Crows or the grishaverse!
Everyone knew that Y/n was Brekker's girl.
It was funny because any possible 'suitors' for Y/n magically disappeared but no one said anything. Of course, they didn't, if they wanted to keep their lives then they wouldn't dare.
That was fine, everyone just kept to themselves and prayed to the saints that they weren't a possible threat to Dirtyhands. What frustrated the Crows is that neither Y/n nor Kaz would admit their feelings towards each other.
The Crows (for once) were all down in the crow club not planing one of their evil heists that usually mess up the world, today they were just relaxing.
Well, maybe not Kaz. Kaz never really fully relaxed, at least not with so many people around.
He saw Y/n laugh with Inej and Nina and he couldn't help the way his eyes travelled down her body or the way that he wanted to keep hearing that laugh on repeat for the rest of his life.
He also couldn't help the fact that he wanted to be the one to make her laugh like that.
Kaz sighed internally, even he knew, the bastard of the fucking barrel is head over heels for Y/n L/n. The girl who would make him dance in the rain with her, the girl who he would gladly kiss if it wasn't for his touch aversion.
She perched her head up a bit and scanned the crowd seemingly looking for something.
Or someone.
Kaz felt something boiling bubble up in his gut but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. Why would Y/n be looking for someone? It better not be for a date...
Okay, maybe he did know what he was feeling at the moment because he felt it almost every day when another person was around Y/n that wasn't him.
And fuck, he knew it was because he was no good. She deserved so much more than someone who couldn't even brush his hand up against someone without getting near to a panic attack. But he couldn't, he really couldn't get out of the mood he was in now till the situation was over. Trust him he tried.
A man who was fairly good-looking comes up behind Y/n and tackle's her into a hug. He nearly goes up to stand but she starts laughing and embracing the boy like they haven't seen each other in years.
He grips onto his cane harder than he ever has in his life. Don't make a scene, don't make a scene. Please, don't make a scene.
Y/n giggles and kiss's the boy on his cheek and all his self will goes out and dies in the harbour.
He shoots up out of his seat and walks faster to Y/n and the terrible man than he should with his bad leg and slams his cane in between the two. He glares his worst glare basically seeing red when he looks at the man and all of him wants to bash his head in as an example to everyone. His mind doesn't even think it's a bad plan but he knows Y/n would not like whoever this was to die like that so he would have to somehow come up with another plan.
"If you dare look at her again you won't ever see again," Kaz says lowly and icily calm contrasting to what he's really feeling inside. Red hot rage burst's inside him becoming an ugly green that grows and infects him.
"Kaz!" Y/n semi-yells trying not to make a scene, but he was sure eyes were already on him. He was Dirtyhands after all.
He turns to her sharply knowing his expression isn't one that even a spider would want to see but it sits on his face all the same.
"What." He growls out trying so hard to not snap at the angel before him.
Without thinking his gloved hand goes to lightly touch her neck and he doesn't feel nausea and sickness. He only feels the warmth of the girl that he loves even with the gloves on. Fuck he loves her, and he had to admit it to himself right now?
She visibly shivers at his touch like she enjoyed it but her face quickly turns back to the angry one that she was wearing before.
"He's my brother!"
Now that he thinks about it he did look similar to Y/n, and the context of everything looked more sibling-like more than anything. How the hell did he not see it? He groaned on the inside, he was never doing anything without thinking it through first again. He guessed that plan was shit though because he could barely think around Y/n.
Speaking of Y/n...
The young woman growl and he feels his eyebrows raise. Oh shit. She balls her hands into fits and stomps off. He tries not to run after her but because of his leg, he can't go nearly as fast as she can and he quickly falls behind.
"Y/n!"
He gets to her room and she slams the door in his face.
Great.
He picks the lock of the door for a few minutes as he curses himself for letting her use one of the harder locks to get into. But after just under a minute he hears the familiar click and he slides open the door.
Luckily the girl is in her room and he's happy that she didn't run off right away. Though her arms are crossed around her chest and even someone standing two buildings away could tell this girl was pissed beyond hell.
"What the fuck were you thinking?" She says lowly trying not to yell at him.
He wasn't thinking, all he could see were his arms around her and her lips on his cheek. Kaz was surprised he managed a sentence when he decided to make a 'scene.'
"I haven't seen him in years! Kaz, years! All I wanted was a happy reunion but you had to screw that up too!" She throws her hands in the air in exasperation.
Kaz knew that she wasn't planning on staying in Ketterdam at first and he didn't even know why she did stay, but his friends (or the closest people he could call friends) told him it was because of him. Brushing off that topic before was easy, but now look where it got them.
"I wasn't thinking." He finally finds the right words and breaks the silence that was washing over them both.
Don't screw this up Brekker.
"I didn't think he was your brother."
"So what? I was just another investment you had to protect because you thought I was stupid." It wasn't a question, it was a statement. He swallowed trying to find the right words. But he couldn't, there were just no words how he could describe how he feels for her.
So show her dumbass.
Slowly taking off his gloves he place's a hand on her cheek. It's feather-light and barely there, but he doesn't feel the cold or the waves and he doesn't feel like he's drowning. Her skin feels warm and it makes him feel alive, he hasn't felt like that in what seems like forever.
"Oh." Is the only thing that comes out of her mouth and she smiles a bit?
He rolls his eyes at her and takes his hand away. "Ya, oh." He rasps.
Y/n reaches out and carefully takes his left hand in hers and slowly but surely they intertwine their hands together.
Her smile slowly fades away as she looks at their hands.
"What are we?" The question hangs in the air creating more space in between them than ever before. Kaz close's his eyes for a second and lets that hungry feeling wash over him. The feeling of jealousy and the feeling of possessiveness when he thought she was with another man.
But then he lets the little moments warp him in their warm embrace. The moments when she offhandedly mentioned that what her favourite flower was, so then those flowers would just appear in her room. Or when she saved him and he couldn't think of any moment where she looked more beautiful, more saint-like, more like herself than ever. He sucks in those moments never letting them go.
"You are mine." His other hand goes to her neck again. "And I am yours." He lets his eyes rake her body committing every single little detail to memory and he sees her blush faintly a bit as he drinks her in.
They stand there in silence just enjoying each other's presence till Y/n looks up at him an oh shit look in her eyes.
"How the hell are we going to explain this to my brother!?"

Easily Replaced | part 3
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 4
Tumblr media
Kaz Rietveld didn't need a reason.
You knew this, of course, as you always had, but it was most clear the day you, Jordie, and Kaz stepped foot into Ketterdam. The two brothers were, as long as you’d known them, ambitious. Ketterdam would fuel that ambition.
"For you, Sankta." Jordie Rietveld laughed, and covered your eyes with his hands.
He was thirteen—much too old for you, as you were only eight, and though you were teased back in southern Kerch for hanging around with him so much Jordie was something like a brother to you. Your own parents were gone—your mother a woman who died too young and your father a mystery.
"I thought you were getting me food." Kaz scoffed, plucking the wrapped omelette out of your hands before you even had a moment to see it.
"Kaz!" You shrieked as you tore out of Jordie's grasp, lunging for the food, but Kaz simply laughed in return, looping his arm around your shoulders and tugging you along, sharing the omelette between them.
The omelette stands in Ketterdam were Kaz and your favorites.
"(Y/N), wait." Jordie called and you paused, turning to glance over at him. His expression was wide and happy—the happiest he'd been in a long time, since he and Kaz's father had died. "Welcome home." He said, and you smiled.
"WAIT!" You yelped, lurching into sitting position so fast your head spun.
He was there, you thought, still blinking away the image of Jordie from behind your eyes.
Your heart raced and your eyes stung as you stood, scanning the streets several stories below you. You’d fallen asleep on the window pane after sneaking into your room at the Slat—if Kaz wanted you gone that night, you’d be gone by morning just to spite him. If only so you had more time to snoop around.
You weren’t expecting the dreams again.
You wiped your hands over your face and sighed, blinking away the remnants of sleep and forcing Jordie to the back of your mind. Jordie Rietveld would always stay in the very back of your mind, in the dregs; you’d think about him only during your last breath, and wouldn't let yourself do it one moment before then.
You crept out of your room and glanced around its interior once more, hefting your satchel over your shoulder. You’d miss this place—you’d miss Ketterdam, but if leaving helped keep certain memories at bay and kept a certain someone from bashing your head in it was worth the risk.
Your feet were silent when you finally dropped to the streets outside and ran, taking back-ally's and fire-escapes and rooftops as you traveled across Ketterdam on a route few knew. Your mask was pulled up and your hood rippled behind you, your shape merely a black speck against the moonless sky.
When you reached the Crow Club you ducked the guards and snuck through a window at the top. If there was anything to be known about the heist for one million kruge the Dregs had been murmuring about, Kaz would know about it. And if you were anything you were vengeful, and you’d get that prize to earn your freedom or you’d die trying.
"The Orchid isn't Dime Lions turf." Kaz's rock salt voice reached you and you paused, one foot sinking into the plush carpet of your old friend's office.
"Well, it's a new acquisition." Another voice purred, and your blood ran cold.
You knew that voice.
That voice had haunted you for years.
"You heard it here first." The voice continued, and you dropped into a crouch, tugging your hood over your head as you crept towards the office.
Your heart dropped into your stomach.
Kaz was being held on his knees by a nondescript man with a sneer on his face while Pekka, Pekka Rollins, clutched Kaz's cane like he owned it. Your stomach rolled as you took in Pekka's face and you barely stopped yourself from gagging.
It was him.
It was the man who killed Jordie.
"Now, I know you saw Dreesen," Pekka continued, oblivious to the assassin hardly ten feet away who was contemplating his inevitable death. "You got the jump on whatever job he has. I don't know the details...obviously, just that you have a little travel hazard ahead of you. So. Here's the deal: you can do nothing—walk away from it. I'll tell Dreesen I'm taking over for you." He paused, a cruel smile on his face. "Then we're even."
"Not even close—" Kaz began, and you tensed. You knew the man holding him, touching him, was causing him agony.
You had to stop it. You had decided long ago that Pekka Rollins' death would be slow. You could make it last for hours—could make blades sing until he was nothing left but a scrap on a table, but something fast might have to do.
"The other option is..." Pekka began, leaning forward to press the beak of Kaz's cane against his jugular, and you lunged. "I'll cave your head in with your own—"
"Let go of him." You snarled and, quick as an asp, had one of your many blades nestled dangerously against Pekka's throat.
Kaz let out a sharp breath and tensed as the man holding him pulled out a gun, pressing it to his temple to balance the odds.
"Sankta Riipka," Pekka mused, seemingly unaffected by the knife against his neck. "it's nice to finally make your aqu—"
"Shut up, pig." You spat and dug the blade in deeper, your eyes snapping up to the man next to Kaz. You felt steel against your head and froze—
—you’d forgotten about the other member of Pekka's trio.
"By the time you kill me," Pekka began, oozing calm that made to your blood boil, "my friend here will shoot your friend. And then you." He made to twist in his chair and you tightened your grip, stilling him. You knew you were drawing blood. "You ought to make the wise decision here, Riipka."
"Let him go." You repeated, heart pounding violently, refusing to look at Kaz even as you felt the gun against the back of your head push harder. "Let him go or I swear on all Saints I'll slit your throat right here."
The room was quiet for several beats before the man holding Kaz shoved him, knocking your friend—was he your friend?—to the floor. You made no move to remove the knife—your chest was tight and your breathing uneven. Jordie's face was flashing behind your eyes and this moment, this moment, killing Pekka, was what you had been waiting for.
You could do it.
Why couldn't you do it?
You could—
"Stop." Kaz breathed and you froze, meeting his stare. His face was serious but his eyes—they were filled with pain. "Just stop."
"You should listen to Mr. Brekker." Pekka crooned and your gritted your teeth, biting back a snarl as you removed the knife and swung, knocking the gun out of the man behind you’s hands.
He threw his arms up and froze but Pekka simply laughed, eyeing you like you were a monkey at a circus. You felt small and, for the first time in a long time, like you were eight years old again, sweating with a burning illness and being sheltered by a widow who had no kids of her own.
You felt like you were eight years old, managing to survive the plague and stumbling down to the docks, half-drunk with a barely broken fever and finding Kaz laying drenched in sea-water on a dock, screaming at you in agony.
It was Pekka's fault.
It was all his—
"No one has to die today, Riipka," Pekka smirked at whatever he saw in your eyes and brushed past, chuckling to his accomplices as they left the office and slammed the door behind them.
The room was silent for several moments before you turned, watching Kaz as he stared at the floor, making no move to stand.
"Let me help you—" you began, reaching out to offer a gloved hand but he jolted, deer-in-headlight-eyes flashing to yours.
"Don't touch me." He snapped, face flushing, and the knot in your throat threatened to burst.
He pushed himself awkwardly to his feet and scrambled for his cane, one hand absently on his leg as he winced. It was terrible to watch—he was strong all the time, and so serious but this...
...this was him broken. And you weren’t sure if you could handle seeing it.
"I should've killed him," you started over, hands trembling as you resisted the urge to reach out to him. You didn't know if you wanted to help or if you just wanted, needed, his touch. "I should've—"
"You should've been gone by now." He swallowed roughly as his cane hit the floor with a thud, eyes snapping back to yours. "I had it handled. We all could've died tonight because of—"
"Don't you dare blame me for—"
"Well if you had just left when I asked—"
"I'm not leaving you!" You shrieked, yanking off your mask and hood so that you could breathe better. "You can boss me around and yell at me and treat me like Jordie was my fault all you want but—"
"I don't think that," he interrupted, his face stricken as he stared at you. "Saints, (Y/N)." You were silent for a moment, both breathing heavily, before he shook his head and turned away. "If you're not going to leave me alone, at least leave the Club. I can't—" he paused, sighing exasperatedly. "I can't deal with this tonight."
Without waiting for a reply he strode out the door and shut it, locking it behind him so you’d have to leave out the window. You waited for several moments until you were sure he was gone, strode over to the spare couch around the corner and screamed into the pillow until your throat hurt.

Its quite a long request but it would be wonderful if you wrote it!! thanks💕
Ends of the Earth (Kaz Brekker x Reader)
Hope you enjoy reading! I had a lot of fun writing it :)
Warnings: reader gets shot, that's about it?
Genre: Angst to (minimal) Fluff
Word Count: 2126
You’re not sure how you could have ever expected him to return what you felt for him.
You and Kaz were essentially opposites- he was a hardened criminal, you were more of a person who just ran with the wrong people. He was mean and commanding, you were sweet and endearing. Where he’d kill people with no hesitation, you’d probably be torn over it for the rest of your life.
Though the Barrel seemed to have no room for someone as kind as you, you had found yourself to fit fine along with rest as someone to watch over the rest. Your skill of memorization was appreciated when Kaz needed to reflect back on a certain part of the plan, and besides, having someone counteract his cruelty was appreciated by the others.
Sometimes, like now, it was hard to be a part of the Crows. Watching Inej stand by his side, watching them work together like well-oiled parts of the same machine, it was bittersweet. You couldn’t help the jealousy that overtook you, but kindness was ingrained in you. You couldn’t hate him. You couldn’t hate Inej.
“So we’ll take them out there. Inej, I’m going to need your backup here.” His voice snaps you back into the moment.
“Got it.” She nods.
“Before then, though, You’ll be stationed here. Y/N, I’m going to want you to stick close to her. She can fight for the both of you in case anything goes wrong.”
You’re useless, you berate yourself. You’re going to need Inej to save you. Maybe if you could defend yourself the way she could, he’d like you more.
“Understood.”
“That should wrap everything up. We’ll meet at the usual spot tonight. We’ll take transport there and sneak in. From there, everything should go according to plan.”
Night quickly falls, and you’re all gathered.
“To reiterate, I’m going to go grab the paintings. Inej and Y/N, stick together and communicate when it’s safe. Jesper, you’re going to shoot out the lights when signaled, and make sure that carriages are ready when it’s time. Wylan, wait it out here with him. If all goes to shit, blow this place. Clear?”
Echoes of agreement echo from around you, and you nod. This should be an easy heist.
“Y/N, c’mon. Let’s head over this way.”
Inej takes your wrist and leads you to the edge of the building. Her stare is intimidating as she surveys the building, before turning back to you.
“I’ll scale the walls, and then I’ll use the rope to pull you up. We can wait on the top of the building for a bit, before slipping in through a window. That okay?”
Damn her for even being considerate to you. And you still have the nerve to be jealous over her. Her and Kaz are so similar- they’d be perfect for each other.
You still can’t find it in your heart to be completely happy about that.
“Y/N? You alright?”
“Huh?” you snap out of your reverie, and give a bashful smile. “Yeah, that’s good. I’ll spot you. Hopefully I’ll be able to get up there…”
Inej throws you a reassuring smile back. “You’ll be okay.”
You watch with awe as she scales the building with no issue, truly living up to the nickname she had been given. She’s nearly invisible as she reaches the top, you note. She’s incredible.
You wait on the ground patiently as Inej lowers the rope, before you hear voices.
You stare up at her, wide-eyed, before running and diving behind a tree.
“The wine good tonight?”
It’s a guard. Your heart rate quickens, and bring a hand over your mouth. Quiet your breathing. If they catch you, you’re dead, and you’ll be the dead weight of this mission.
“I don’t know, haven’t had a drink yet. Maybe once everyone’s gone. Ha! The Stadwatch won't penalize me if there’s no guests to guard!”
“Yeah, that’s the spirit! All we have to make sure is no scum tries to steal the painting.”
“Like anybody would dare show their face here.”
The other guard laughs, and you wait with baited breath as they finally round the corner.
You check both directions, before you quietly slip out.
“Inej?” you’re quiet and slightly shaken. Death and capture was always palpable on these missions, but it had come swinging at you quicker than you had expected. “You still there?”
“Yeah,” her voice comes from above. “I’m here. You’re fast on your feet. Good thinking.”
“Thank you, and thank you for waiting.”
The rope drops down for the second time, and you take a hold of it, pulling yourself up with a bit of her help. Your hands finally grasp the ledge of the building, and Inej extends one of her hands to help pull you up. You’re hauled onto the rooftop, and though it’s a bit ungraceful, you’re okay.
“Thanks,” you whisper.
“No problem.”
Your eyes are both directed on the walkways below.
“You scout out for guards down there, and I’ll check for guards in the windows? We should signal to Kaz soon.”
“Sure.”
You keep a careful eye down below, hearing Inej scurry to different window points. You watch as she slips to one of them, peering through.
“Just our luck,” she mutters cheerfully. “This window’s fine. Let’s open it. I’ll go first, but send a flare for Kaz. I’m going to need that window open as soon as that flare goes up.”
“Alright.” You take a deep breath, before shooting the flare off. Inej thrusts open the window and pulls you in behind her.
You watch a figure walk past the doorway. That should be Kaz, and now, he should be slipping past you to go to the next doorway to take the painting-
“To the roof again, now-” Inej says, and starts to step out behind the boxes, and the figure turns back.
That’s not Kaz.
A click.
She’s going to be shot.
You’re acting on pure impulse and nerves when you shove her aside, and the bullet pierces through your shoulder. You crumble, and Inej tries to keep you from completely collapsing.
You grit your teeth. You’re trying not to let tears stream down your face, but everything hurts and Inej is over you and she’s saying something but you can’t hear her-
You try to force yourself to sit up, and you see a cane poised to hit the guard over the head. You turn away, and thank your murky hearing that you can’t hear the scream that emits from the guard.
Kaz.
“What happened?” His voice is losing it’s cool quickly.
“She was shot by the guard, I don’t think she’s quite registering it-” Inej’s voice is more panicked, but she forces herself to be analytical. “She’s going to need treatment, and quickly.”
“Okay,” he breathes in sharply. “Okay. Go down the hall, grab the paintings, and meet Jesper by the transportation. I’ll get her out.”
“Okay.”
Inej dashes down the hall, and he takes in your state. Your pupils are blown wide, and you’re trying not to cry, but it hurts.
“Kaz,” you breathe out. “Thank the Saints. Is Inej okay?”
He frowns at that. What about Inej? Inej was fine, you’d been shot. Did you have no self-preservation instincts?
“Inej is fine,” he mutters.
“That’s good,” you sigh out. “That’s good. I don’t quite think I’m going to make it out here alive, so just in case I don’t, I love you. Though I’m glad she’s okay, for your sake.”
His frown deepens. “I’m sorry? For my sake?”
“You’re in love with her. She with you. You guys can live your happy ending. As happy as the Barrel can get, anyway.” Your smile is slightly delirious, and he knows you’re not thinking rationally.
“Stop talking.”
“I’m sorry, are you mad at me? Please don’t be mad at me. I didn’t-” you cough, “think I’d die, but if it’s for you and Inej, then I think it’s worth it.”
“Nobody is worth your life,” he nearly yells. “You’re not going to die, Y/N. I won’t allow it.”
“Please, just let me stay here. They’re going to find you if you don’t.” “I don’t care.”
He’s pulling off his jacket and carefully using it as a tourniquet for your shoulder.
“Can you walk?”
“Kaz, please-”
“Can you walk.” It’s a statement, maybe a threat.
“Maybe- maybe with a bit of support,” your words are weak. You’re running out of time. “The world looks sideways, though- face it, Kaz, I’m not going to make it. I don’t want to be dead weight, your touch aver-”
“I’m not going to combust into fucking flames if you lean on me! Goddamnit, let me help you!”
His anger startles you. You hold back more tears as he pulls you up. At least he took the care to pull you up by the other arm. “Okay.”
The world is spinning and his face isn’t clear, and time seems to speed up as both of you go through the hallways, finally meeting Jesper and Inej in the courtyard.
“Bloody hell,” Jesper mutters.
“Go. To the White Rose. Nina should be able to do something.” Kaz leaves no room for argument. You’re passed out now, and he’s almost thankful you can’t feel anything as the carriage rushes through harsh weather and bumpy roads.
I don’t quite think I’m going to make it out here alive, so just in case I don’t, I love you.
Were you that oblivious? Did you think he was in love with Inej? How could you be so blind?
How could you sacrifice yourself so he could live what you thought to be a “happy ending”?
You didn’t plan it, did you?
He carefully takes off one of his gloves, hovering his hand over your forehead.
You’re still warm.
He doesn’t believe in Saints, but now, he’s almost praying to them that you’ll be okay.
Please be okay.
...
Inej glances at Kaz, standing over her in the White Rose.
She’s been out for days at this point. Nina could only do so much, with whatever corpse-like power she’d gained. The rest had to be natural healing.
Inej clears her throat. “She’d go to the ends of the world for you. For your happiness.” Kaz remains still.
“Don’t make her do so again.”
..
Your eyes flutter open, the brightness of the room nearly rendering you blind.
Your shoulder hurts like a bitch, but besides that, you’re alive.
Happiness and heaviness fill your heart at once. You’re alive, you’re okay. What had you said to Kaz in your state?
Hopefully nothing stupid.
“You’re awake. I’m glad.”
Kaz’s voice comes from the edge of the room. He’s leaning on the wall, cane in hand. When was Kaz upfront with his emotions?
“Yeah. How long was I out for?”
“A couple of days.”
“Days?” Your voice cracks. “I didn’t think it was that bad.”
That’s a lie. You thought you were dead, for sure. He doesn’t have to know that.
“...Right.” He’s skeptical, but pushes himself off the wall and makes his way over to you. “This may be a bit early, but would you want to go for a walk?”
“Sure.” Is he kicking you out of the Crows? Why would he want to go on a walk just after you’ve woken up? You’re screwed.
He waits for you to stand, and then you’re both walking side by side, into the gardens of the courtyard. He doesn’t say anything, just leads you to a small place under an apple tree. A picnic blanket is spread out, with a small basket laying on top of it.
Your eyes widen in surprise, and a brief smile flashes across his face. “Nice, isn’t it?”
“Kaz- what is all of this?”
“You said you loved me.”
Horror paints across your face, and you lower your head in shame. “I’m sorry, I didn’t, I wasn’t thinking. I’m sorry, I know you love Inej, that- was a bit unprompted of me, I’m sorry-”
He blinks at your rushed words. “Y/N. I’m not in love with Inej. She’s part of the Crows, as are you. Though- if you mean it,” he clears his throat, “that you love me- then take this as a surprise first date.”
Your expression morphs into a shy smile. He’s probably not ready to say it back. It doesn’t matter. He feels the same way.
“Happy first date, then.”
You’re both talking and eating, small smiles on both of your faces, a stark contrast to the harsh atmosphere of Ketterdam. It doesn’t matter to him. You’re alive, you’re safe, and you’re with him. You’d go to the end of the world for him. He’d do the same for you.
He loves you.

The Silence after sex
This is an answer to that one anon who legit sent me a blank ask it’s right here. (Apparently it didn’t let me answer it directly) But, Seriously -.-‘ I’m not sure if you did it on purpose or if it was an accident. How am I supposed to answer silence???? You know what since ya like trolling me so much I’ll indulge ya. So I looked at this ask and, thought okay silence hmm-
The silence after sex
All characters 18+
Shigaraki Tomura, Dabi, Bakugou Katsuki, Kirishima Eijirou,  Shinsou Hitoshi,  Hawks (Takami Keigo), Fatgum (Toyomitsu Taishiro) Twice (Bubaigawara Jin) x reader (They are in that order if you wanna skip around)
Shigaraki Tomura
After he cums inside you, you’re both a panting mess of sweat and saliva. He takes his time to pull out and, immediately demands cuddles. It’s a peacefully silence; His arms wrapped around your waist as yours cradle his head running your fingers through his greasy hair. It’s soothing. It’s safe. When you pull him up, he can’t help but feel emotional, What with you pressing soft kisses on his forehead your fingers tracing the wrinkles around his eyes. He feels loved. It’s a new and odd feeling but he doesn’t hate it. And, when you feel him grinding into you again you can only roll your eyes with a smile. Because if this rat boy only knows how to show how much you mean to him by fucking the shit out of you then by all means you were going to let him.
How the silence broke:
“I Love you Tomura.”
“I don’t hate you.”
(I love this crusty man!!)
Dabi
After your well and fucked your out like a light. And, once your eyes close the smirk that was on his face drops and, he’s looking at your abused body. He’s burning with turmoil angry that he does this to you and, angry that you let him do it. He’s thinking of how beautiful you are and, how you deserve better than some street rat. Any other person wouldn’t call you defaming things or get off at making you cry. They wouldn’t spit in your mouth and use you like a urinal. He was bad for you. But the moment leaving you enters his mind he’s pissed because he’ll be damned if anyone else got to see you like this. You were his and as he dressed in silence his eyes never left your form. So long as you were willing to shed tears for him and, beg for his return he’d always be back. But in the meantime he was going to snap a picture of you and leave. He’ll wait for one of two things. For you to wake and call him or for you to text him that you never wanted to see him again.
How the silence breaks:
“D-dabi where are you? Why’d you leave?”
“That’s none of your damn business dollface.”
“….Okay be careful…and…..remember I love you Dabi. I’ll be waiting for you to come back so…. don’t die…Please”
(Kaz is a Dabi fucker……)
Bakugou Katsuki
He breathed in the scent of your hair as he held you flush against his hard body. His arms cocooning you protectively.  He was in awe. He was always left in awe after he made love to you. You and, Bakugou never just fucked even when he was rough with you it was never mindless. You were the only person he’d every be vulnerable and open enough to have sex with. You were the only person in this world who carried a gold band on your finger given to you by the hero himself. He always thought of how lucky he was when ever you guys were snuggling in silence after sex. Today he was in a daze. After two years of marriage you were allowing him another part of your body. Your womb. His arms went down to caress your stomach the same stomach that will one day hold another little Bakugou. He pressed a gentle kiss to your head and, untangled his limbs from yours to get a rag to clean you up. You were already drifting when he came back a snort escaping his lips as he wiped off your drool. His lips coming into kiss you as he whispered-
How the silence broke:
“I love you so damn much.”
“Mmm”
(He’d be soft with his s/o afterwards and no one can tell me otherwise.)
Kirishima Eijirou
It was a silent morning. He woke up before you, wincing at the pounding of his head. It really felt like his brain was training to be an MMA fighter. He cast a look to your slumbering form a sad smile on his lips. You were undeniably gorgeous. You would also wake up with a hangover and, how he wished he could stay and tend to you when you awoke. But life didn’t work that way. He was just a booty call. A friend you called over to smash because another lover had broken your heart. Why couldn’t you give your heart to him? Why was he always reduced to a rebound? He let out a heartbreaking sigh as he pulled up his jeans. Once dressed he walked into your bathroom to pull out some asprin. His red eyes were shot tears threatening to spill over. Sex with someone you loved was supposed to leave you feeling happy and complete. But, whenever he and, you had sex he felt hallow, sad and regretful. Putting a glass of water by your bedside with the pills he ran his fingers through his hair. He knew the drill leave before you get up and come back when you called in tears….. But, he was done the post-it on the glass should be enough of an explanation. He was done with the vicious cycle and, next time you called he wasn’t going to be back.
How the silence broke:
Your sobs could be heard from outside of your apartment as you clutched the note to your chest. You had realized to late how wonderful Kirishima really was.
(Whoops…. This happened)
Shinsou Hitoshi
The smile on his face afterwards could only be compared to the sun. Bright and shining as your fingers traced shapes on his bare chest. You made him completely happy and, whether he was topping or not he was always left with a feeling of connection to you. You completed him and, thoughts like those ran wild in his head. Thoughts of how you’d raise little gremlins and, grow to be rocking chair raisins. His fingers came to stroke your cheek his lips parting in a soliloquy-
How the silence broke:
“Last night I dreamt of the sun….. it was bright, it was warm, and it was wonderful….. Her light shone upon me granting me warmth from the cold. Her luscious heat making me smile. She illuminated the grey filling up my heart. She brought warmth to my sheets, a fire to my soul, joy to my life and with that she took my heart. When she captured it, I thought for a moment why is it that sun chooses to shine for me? Isn’t the sun so breathtaking? Radiant?! Blinding?! Why…the sun?.. It brings life, it brings hope for a new tomorrow…. She brings me life, she is my hope for tomorrow….And I? I am her earth the one she fills with creations, with hopes and dreams. I am her earth that will never cease to spin around her. Even when I’m blue and dizzy my dance will be for her. But then I woke up…..I wasn’t dismayed because when I turned to the side she there was the sun right beside me.
(Shinsou is a poetic romantic! Change my mind!)
Takami Keigo (Hawks)
He was content with the silence. After years of unspoken attraction, it finally happened and if he was much happier than he was at that moment he’d burst. That’s why his face was buried in your stomach as he laid upon your legs. Your arms came down to caress his wings. Your fingers felt like heaven on his soft feathers that he could feel his arousal begin to rise again. However, it was a tender moment that and, he felt so comfortable. It was as if your arms were made to hold him and the thought had him drawing circles into your lower back. From your seated position you looked down missing his blissed-out expression as his sandy locks blocked your view. You didn’t stop threading your finger through his feathers and he wasn’t going to ask you to stop either. You stroked the red plumage until you felt him shudder. You paused. It didn’t look like it harmed him, so you repeated the action receiving the same trembles from the man. It was then that he made a sound and you couldn’t help but look down at him incuriously.
How the silence broke:
“Keigo? Are you cooing?”
“Roo.”
(If keigo cooing isn’t a thing it is now!)
Toyomitsu Taishiro (Fatgum)
Toyomitsu was scared. He wasn’t speaking and neither were you. Were you dead? Did he drown you in his cum? Oh Lord please don’t let that be the case. He could see it now ‘Pro-Hero Fatgum kills his girlfriend via oral!’ He was relived when he heard the audiable sound of you swallowing. Streams of his essence slipping past your lips as you were unable to swallow it all. Hell Fatgum didn’t mind he was more impressed with the fact that you could even take him in your mouth. When your eyes finally met his, he gave you a sheepish grin making you roll your eyes with a smile. You felt like a turkey on thanksgiving with how stuffed you were. Fatgum stretched your cunt beyond what you thought possible and, had filled you up so well that it was still flowing out. That wasn’t anything compared to how sore your jaw was and how full your belly was. He really took being a whole ‘meal’ to a whole ‘nother level. Toyomitsu knew he was a big man even without his quirk so he was quick to make sure you were okay.
How the silence broke:
“Ya scared me darlin’ thought ya died for a second there.”
“Ha. Ha….. Ugh I’m so damn full. Wipe that grin off your face!”
(He has so much lewd potential that I can’t even!)
Bubaigawara Jin (Twice)
He had pulled out a while ago a bashful look on his face as he looked down at you in your afterglow. His eyes took in everything from your frazzled hair to the light sheen of sweat that made your skin glow. He didn’t waste a single second and immediately took you into his strong arms cuddling you. You smiled brushing your nose upon his in a cute bunny kiss his stubble brushing against your chin. You ignored the scratchy feeling in favor of running your fingers down the scar of his forehead leaning up to press your lips upon it lovingly. Twice didn’t say a word. Although he ached to tell you how much he loved you and how happy you’ve made him he refused to open his mouth. He was afraid that after he said something to melt your heart, he’d ruin it by saying something rude. The last thing he wanted was to hurt you. You who had completed his life. He had finally found a place with the league, comrades a family and, then you came in to complete the picture. You came in to love him all! Damn he loved you! So much. Maybe he should just say it.
How the silence broke:
“I love you (Name), That’s right my fucking bitch.”
“This fucking bitch loves you too Jin.”
(Love him!!! Love him please!!!)
.

.
(There you got 8 characters happy??!! Lmaoo you can totally tell who I follow with these scenarios that and there so damn self-indulgent but hey can you blame me? The ask was to make something out of nothing right? Right?!?!)
