How Data's S/O Gets Along with His Friends (Headcanons)
This post is in response to this ask from @beetlebabie (It was too long to fit as an answer, so I had to make it a separate post). I hope you all enjoy!
Geordi
Since Geordi is Data's best friend, Data values his opinion greatly. Thus, he would want to know what Geordi thought of his s/o. This means that Geordi would very likely end up spending a lot of time, if not the most time, out of all of their friends with his s/o.
Once Geordi gets to know them and approves, he would become very good friends with them! I think Geordi would enjoy inviting them to his and Data's Holmes adventures, and having them join in on the fun. If Data's s/o is an engineer and/or has an engineering background, they would also bond over that! Geordi would probably go to them when he needs a second (or third) engineering mind to help him figure out and test run solutions to whatever current engineering-related issues the Enterprise is facing.
I think Geordi and Data's s/o would also share a love of making physical models! They enjoy working on separate projects in the company of one another, as well as working on big projects together.
Worf
Although we didn't get to see much of Data and Worf's friendship on-screen (which I must reiterate once again is a CRIME), I strongly believe that Worf values and regards Data highly as a friend. In a lot of ways, Data embodies what Worf believes is a true warrior: he has incredible physical strength and endurance, doesn't let emotions cloud his judgements, and has immense honesty, respect, and nobility.
That being said, I also think that Worf is very cognizant of ranks, and has difficulty being more casual and friendly with Data because he's always aware of the fact that Data is his commanding officer. Because of this, I think Worf would get closer with Data's s/o, who would help him let his guard down a bit more and allow himself to be more friendly with Data.
As for Data's s/o and Worf specifically, I think Worf enjoys helping them train for their annual athletic qualifications/physicals (Worf finds them "a very formidable opponent), but I think he'd also enjoy exchanging/reading poetry together. As another fellow poet, I like to think that Data would always read his poems to Worf to gauge his opinion first before deciding whether or not to share it with others. I think Data's s/o would also be very into literature, which is something that they and Worf would share! Worf limits the readings and sharing of his poems to them only, though.
Riker
Although I think that Data's s/o would be the least like/have the least in common with Riker, I also think he would still be good friends with Data's s/o because out of all his friends, Riker always supported and even yearned for Data to get to experience what it's like being in a successful, romantic relationship with someone the most. So, I think Riker would be the most excited out of all of their friends for Data and his s/o!
Riker would want to get to know them immediately, so he'd either want to do whatever Data's s/o likes or if they shared interests, he'd include them in his typical activities. For example, if they played an instrument and/or enjoyed jazz music, he would ask them to come to his shows or even occasionally play with him and his band!
I think Data's s/o would share a love of nature and games with Riker, so they'd often participate in holodeck activities related to this (i.e. they might go camping with him or play some popular games together, like that one where they have to shoot different colored orb-things with their phasers). Data would also occasionally participate in these, when invited.
Picard
As I mentioned previously, I think Data's s/o would have a love for literature, which they'd share not only with Worf but Picard, as well. I think they'd have a sort of monthly book club, where they'd take turns choosing a novel to read by the end of the month. Then, they'd meet up to discuss the book and their thoughts over tea and hors d'oeuvre.
Additionally, I think they'd enjoy and share a love of classical music! If his s/o can play an instrument (especially piano), they may even enjoy playing together. If not, they'd still enjoy listening to it together (probably over tea and more hors d'oeuvre).
Finally, I think they'd also enjoy and share an interest in archaeology. Even if his s/o isn't a full-fledged archaeologist, I think they'd have enough knowledge and interest to match Picard's. So, they'd have lots of stimulating conversations about it (and maybe even include some archaeological reads in their book club)!
Deanna
I think Deanna would become friends with Data's s/o out of curiosity and professional concern. Out of all of their friends, Deanna always seemed the most worried about Data's s/o's well-being, were he to be part of a relationship with someone who didn't have a similar mindset and emotional capacity as him. So, if Data's s/o was of a more emotional/less rational species, she would start checking in with them. She'd want to make sure they were doing okay, which is something I think Data would also be concerned about. Both he and Deanna would be worried that his "lack of emotions" will cause problems for his relationship, and both would likely agree to regular couples' counseling to make sure all was well. This would only be for the initial stages of their relationship, though. Once it's clear Data and his s/o are in a happy, healthy, and stable relationship, Deanna would let her guard down a bit and eventually become good friends with his s/o!
I think Deanna and Data's s/o would share an interest in psychology/human behavior, either professionally or personally. They'd enjoy sharing their thoughts on psychology, almost in the sort of book club fashion they do with the Captain.
They'd also a share a love for chocolate! If Data's s/o is a baker or chef in some capacity, Deanna would love taste-testing their creations, especially for upcoming events. Otherwise, they'd enjoy swapping recipes and having little chocolate parties where they just eat chocolate foods together.
Beverly
I always see Data having a s/o with some sort of science background. Thus, I think this is something they'd share with Beverly. Even if they aren't in the medicine sector of science, they'd enjoy reviewing scientific data and theories together, especially when the Enterprise needs it. They'd also review current studies and theories and discuss them together, similarly to how they would do with Deanna and psychology.
If they are in the medicinal sector, then they'd definitely bond over that, as well. Otherwise, I think they'd also share a love of family heritage and culture, especially if they have similar cultural backgrounds! Alternatively, if Data's s/o didn't know much about their family history, then Beverly would definitely encourage them to look into it, and likely aid them in their search (i.e. performing a DNA test on them to determine their ethnic background).
We didn't get to see much of what Beverly enjoys doing in her personal free time, but I think she'd enjoy doing some sort of arts and craft projects, which they might share with Data's s/o! If his s/o isn't much of a crafter, though, I think they'd enjoying doing crafts with Beverly as they discuss scientific/medical papers.
Keiko
As mentioned previously, Data's s/o would likely have a strong background in science. Even if they're not a botanist, I think they'd at the very least have an amateur interest in plants that Keiko would definitely encourage!
If they are a botanist, then I think they'd be a big help in setting up the Arboretum and keeping it running. They'd help care and tend to the plants, as well help make it more available to the other ship members for leisure activities. They may even help plan activities there, like picnic and tea parties. They'd also do botany research together or at the very least, share their ideas.
I think Data's s/o would also enjoy babysitting Molly every once in a while (an activity Data also enjoys partaking in), which Keiko and Molly also enjoy.
Guinan
Although I don't think that Data's s/o would necessarily be a genius, I do think that they'd be wise, a trait they'd share with Guinan! Because of this, Guinan would enjoy casually speaking and hanging out with them, either in Ten Forward or elsewhere. Additionally, I think they'd also have an insatiable desire for knowledge, which they would somewhat satiate whenever they speak to Guinan.
I think Data's s/o would also enjoy being a taste-tester for any new drink recipes Guinan wants to try out! Guinan may even ask them for their input (especially if they have some sort of cooking/bartending background). Guinan would also feature their creations on the Ten-Forward menu, and maybe ask them to help her cater events in Ten-Forward.

Five Moments of Feeling
Summary:   Five moments in which Data experiences emotion and becomes just a little bit more human. A "if Data hadn't gotten the emotion chip" AU.
Part 1: Humor
Part 2: Contentment
Part 4: Offense
Part 5: Saudade
Also posted on AO3 and FFN
A/N: Keiko and Data’s friendship is criminally underrated, so I am fixing that wrong :)
Five Moments of Feeling Part 3: Pride
The third moment was in the Arboretum.
Keiko O'Brien was tending the finicky Talbroan fern that she had picked up at the last star base. The poor thing had been on the brink of death, its pale pink stems nearly translucent and the foliage withered and brittle. It needed precisely a fourth of a liter of water a day; just a few milliliters too much or too little would send it spiraling back into a state of disarray. No wonder they were practically extinct in the wild, Keiko thought as she carefully trimmed off a dead frond and continued her search for other signs of unhealth from the bushy plant.
The sound of the Arboretum doors whooshing open distracted her from the fern and she glanced up to find Data making his way around the potted bushes and shrubs towards her. She bounced up from her squatting position and gave her android friend a cheerful wave. "Data! Over here!"
He acknowledged her with a little nod and crossed the bridge that spanned the artificial stream that watered the main plot of the Arboretum. He stopped beside her and examined the Talbroan fern, making a small sound of interest. "It seems that your fern is recovering admirably since it came into your care. Are you pleased with its progress?"
Keiko grinned at the sincere interest in his voice. Tugging at the cuff of his sleeve, she encouraged him to kneel with her in front of the plant. "She seems to be doing wonderfully. You know, I wasn't sure for a little while there if she was going to make it, but look." She lifted up a large frond, revealing a small green bulge at the fern's base. "Talbroan ferns need to be in nearly perfect condition before they grow pods. If everything goes right, in a month or two, I should be able to harvest the seeds and incubate them in the botany lab. By this time next year, I could have four, five, maybe even more new ferns. It'll be a wonderful opportunity to study their life cycle and maybe even start a project to reintroduce them to Talbroa II."
Data nodded solemnly and looked at her with soft, serious eyes. "I am quite sure that under your competent care and with your passion for the project, it will be a success."
Keiko couldn't help the broad grin that spread across her face, and she pushed his shoulder fondly. "Well, somebody's been learning the human art of flattery."
Data gave her a mournful look of confusion, his lips curving into a slight frown. "My intention was not to offer unfounded accolades. The sentiment was entirely sincere."
"I know, Data." She patted his arm, still smiling. "I was just giving you a hard time."
"Ah," he responded, still looking mildly confused but no longer visibly concerned that he might have unintentionally insulted her.
Keiko stood and Data followed suit. "And how about your project?" Keiko asked, brushing off the knees of her gardening trousers. "How is the Vendikarian orchid doing?"
Data tilted his head to the side, his expression non-committal. "The orchid is in fact the reason why I decided to 'stop by'. Although it is not showing any signs of deterioration or wilting, it has yet to produce a blossom, which by my calculations based on the research I have done on this particular breed, it should have done three days ago. I wished to ask your advice on what I might be doing wrong. Would you be willing to examine it?" "Of course, Data." Keiko smiled warmly at him. "But I suspect you're being too hard on yourself. Actual botany isn't nearly as nice and neat as in a book, and plants don't do exactly what they're supposed to do exactly when they're supposed to do it any more often than people do. Isn't that why you wanted to look after the orchid yourself and get a taste of caring for a plant? To have the first-hand experience instead of just reading about it on the ship's computer?"
Data nodded. "That is true. So far, the act of researching versus engaging in the actual experience has been significantly disparate."
They headed over to the far side of the Arboretum together, following the winding stone path between the alien flora until they reached a row of potted plants by the side wall. Data knelt by one of them. "I have been watering it the recommended every third day, all well as providing it approximately fifteen to seventeen hours of artificial sunlight each twenty-four hour period. What is your opinion on its health?"
Keiko knelt beside her friend and examined the orchid, noting the rich, dark green color of the stem and the paler green of the large flat leaves with deep purple veins. "It looks perfectly healthy to me, Data," she said, squeezing the stem to test its firmness and running the leaves between her fingers to check for dry or wilted spots. "From everything I can see, it looks like you're doing a wonderful job with it."
The corners of Data's mouth perked into a little, pleased smile. "Do you truly believe so?"
"Yes, I do," Keiko replied with a smile, still checking for any signs of ill health, though she expected to find none.
Data gave a decisive nod. "Then I will trust to your superior personal experience on this particular topic and proceed with my watering and sunning routines as I have been doing so far."
Keiko was about to reply when she felt an object different than leaves or stems hidden behind the back of the plant. "Data," she said, pulling the leaves back, "look at this."
As she gently parted the leaves, the hidden growth was revealed. The orchid had produced a delicate stem, on the tip of which was a small bud with lovely pale orange petals peeping through the green casing. Data reached out to touch the bud with a gentle, almost reverent, brush of his long fingers. "It is preparing to blossom," he said softly.
Keiko gave him a fond glance and put a hand on his shoulder. "See, I told you not to worry," she teased gently. "It was just a late bloomer is all. I knew you'd be as good a plant parent as you are a cat parent. It looks like you've done a wonderful job with her, Data."
Data didn't reply, his hand still outstretched with his fingers just barely touching the plant, his body completely still. Keiko tilted her head and rubbed his shoulder. "Data? Are you OK?"
Data closed his eyes and shook his head slightly. "I…" he began slowly, "I…believe that I am experiencing a new emotion. One I have not felt before."
Keiko grew still, her face serious, knowing how much an experience like this meant to her android friend. "A new emotion? What do you think it is, Data?"
He shook his head again, eyes still closed, a look of intense concentration on his face. "I am uncertain. It…seems to be a positive emotion. I am happy that I have been successful at my endeavor in this area, but it is more than happiness. I respect your abilities and knowledge as an exobotanist and therefore place a greater level of gravity in your opinions on this topic than I would my other friends. The emotion seems to somehow be related to this respect I feel for you. I feel that I have been successful at accomplishing a goal, that I have done something that I set out to do and that I have done it well. Within the current context, I am unsure which emotion might be the best fit for what I am experiencing."
Keiko's smile had steadily grown as she listened to Data talk. As he finished, she leaned over to him and spoke in a quiet voice. "Try 'pride', Data."
Data's eyes flickered open, though they remained thoughtfully lowered, his head still tilted curiously. But after a moment, his golden gaze darted up to her face, his own features calm and content. "Yes," he said slowly, "yes, that feels right. I am proud."
Keiko hooked her arm around his, grinning. "As you should be, Data. As you absolutely should."

Top Ten Least Bad Outfits in TNG
I'm gonna be honest and say that the non-uniform outfits in TNG are not my favorite costume design in the world, but there are some looks that stick with me:
10. That Girl Who Kissed Data That One Time's Outfit:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can never decide if I like this look or I think it's ugly, but I love the pants and tall boots combo. Her blouse is bad and the bouclé jacket is both too heavy and too fussy for this outfit, but I love the belt and suspenders combo, and the chevron embossing on the suspenders. This costume and all the others except #9 is a Robert Blackman design.
9. This Jumpsuit On That Girl From "The Dauphin":
Tumblr media
This is the only William Ware Theiss design on this list. I love his TOS stuff but most of his TNG designs leave me cold 🤷‍♀️. But I love this is extremely 80s jumpsuit. Love the pretty drape, love the ruching on the sleeves, love the harem pants silhouette. Only note is that the whole bodice should be a structured corset bodice instead of the kind of odd structured panel it has now.
8. Picard's Shorty Pyjama Set:
Tumblr media
TNG is absolutely full of the strangest pyjama choices you can imagine and Picard is no exception but I love this bold look. Would kill for this pyjama set. He also takes a work zoom wearing this one time which is insane.
7. Data's 1890's Looks But Specifically This One With The Shirtsleeves And The Blue Shirt:
Tumblr media
The best part of "Time's Arrow" is that Data isn't a fish out of water in the 1890s, he's absolutely killing it, and I love that the only real Casual Data look we get is this one. I prefer the blue shirt to the pink because Data should really wear more blue, it's a nice contrast with yellow. Please also note his emerald watch fob, which was 0% necessary to blend in, he's just having fun with it.
6. 12 Year Old Keiko's Linen Overalls:
Tumblr media
The paperbag waist! The bow! The little bows at the shirt cuffs! I can understand why she replicated a miniature copy of this outfit.
5. Beverly and Guinan's Dixon Hill Holodeck Costumes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm counting these as one because they're essentially the same design in different color pallets but what color paletts! Bev is pulling off the very difficult pink+red+red hair and the mint green on Guinan is 🤌. I particularly love how Guinan's hat is so 1940s yet also echos the silhouette of her usual costume.
4. Deanna's Teal Dress:
Tumblr media
Like all of you I prefer Deanna in the uniform, but this dress slays, ok? The space age asymmetrical neckline. The drop waist. The structured bodice. The slit almost all the way to the hip. And of course the matching tights and shoes CANNOT BE BEATEN. Also one time I saw a dude on a Star Trek forum call this a "ballgown" which baffles me to this day, this is clearly a slightly fancy day dress.
3. Picard's 1890s Look:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You'd think Picard would go full posh in the 1890s but instead he gives us this working-class Shakespearean director look and he 👏 looks 👏 incredible 👏. Way to mix textures, Jean-Luc.
2. Lore's Turtleneck and Giant Vest:
Tumblr media
You and I know that Lore stole these clothes from the Pakleds because we pay a lot of attention to Star Trek costumes, but to a normal viewer Lore shows up and this is just his outfit!! It's giving, like, space-age goblincore and it's incredible. I want wear this oufit every day. I want to make a little doll Lore wearing this outfit to express my love for it. It's only not #1 because the pants are too orange and a strange weave.
Deanna's Ancient West Holodeck Outfit:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deanna!!! The pants! The hat! The calico! She looks 10/10 hot in this outfit. For sure the superior version of this is before she gives her neckerchief to Worf (it really benefits from that cool highlight) but either way this is the best anyone's ever looked on that holodeck.
