More characters who are of importance to Katsura! Continues from here. 10. Kondo! Their relationships saw a slow progression from utter enmity to a more measured view of each other, then turning into each other's honourable enemy, mutual respect growing between the two of them.

11. Hasegawa - They didn't have epic moments between them, perhaps, but they do spend enough time together that I want to include him here. He has his own nickname for Zura, that's great!

12. Kyubei - Zura's one-sided meta rivalry with Kyubei is ridiculous, but it's still a kind of connection...

I was totally forgot Kyuubei is such a badass even though she is my first fav character in the show.

I wish she had more screen time and had important parts at serious arcs.

I mean she is so damn strong and fast sword user. Her fights are amazing and her fighting style is great. I love watching her when she gets serious and beat the shit out of enemy.

And she is really good written character. I think she has mixed personality. She has dumb-idiotic side (like zura, gin, kagura) and cool-skillfull-reasonable side (like takasugi, hijikata, nobume, oboro). This is literally something else.

Also, I love her appearance. Her outfit is one of the best her jacket, pants, eye patch etc (kinda smilar to sakamoto lol).

She deserved better.

the way gintama handles gender is clumsy and doesnt age particularly well at parts even if there seems to be a genuine attempt at critiquing gender roles it still kind of falls flat and its representation of trans people falls into stereotypes but i would like to congratulate yagyu kyubei on being the only anime character ever to be both a man in a trans way and a woman in a trans way

#due to transphobic writing kyubei's gender is just a general clusterfucked mystery and if that were intentional they would be legendary #unfortunately its just outdated stereotypes #gintamas handling of trans people in general tends to be utilizing stereotypes and then being like #'so what if theyre a freak. it doesnt matter theyre still human theyre still a complex individual and we should respect them'#which is like. not great. but also not terrible like. ok he's got the spirit #its better than what other shounen anime at the time were doing which is kind of a low bar #i do also think that kyubei is one of the very few anime characters ever to actually canonically be a nonbinary lesbian so there's that

after months of watching (i only started watching this year), i finally finished gintama a few mins ago. mixed emotions. i cant organize my thoughts properly, i cant even bid goodbye to the characters as i grew fond of them. im sad that i finally finished it but im happy to live in the same timeline of gintama. THANK YOU SORACHI-SENSEI for making this masterpiece. this series made me feel a lot of things. i smiled, laughed, cried, and any other emotions they brought out of me. i honestly thanked my friend who have suggested to watch gintama (a lot of times) he certainly convinced me to watch this cuz i am missing out on a lot of things and i cant help but agree with him. ily gintama, the mangaka, the characters, the voice actors, every people behind this. brb, gonna rewatch the whole series <3

Gintama Chapter 1.

In this first chapter, Sorachi wrote about something that became such an important part of Gintama. Gintoki states he failed a lot of times to protect what really mattered. If you've already read the manga or watched the anime, you know what this is all about... Shouyou-sensei, Shouka Sonjuku, Takasugi, Katsura, Sakamoto... yet he still has not given up on life. He continues to endure the life he's been given, the decisions he decided to take that would change who he is and who he would become.

Also, Gintoki would find his first unbreakable "sword", Shinpachi. Shinpachi never understood the meaning of his father's words until he met Gintoki.

I believe nobody knew if Sorachi had already planned out what Gintama would become. Gintama's latter plot was being spinned like a spider's web...
