So, I was bored and looking around the ‘net for something to draw, when I found this awesome “draw six characters like this” template on a random Reddit post.

Anyways, even though I had to look up what almost all of these prompts were, I really liked essentially all the potential designs that could come out of them based off of my quick Google searches, so I went ahead and did it!

This whole thing took me a total of NINE HOURS, making it the longest time it’s ever taken me to finish any singular artwork. As you can see, I also finally figured out how to upload images onto canvases on ibisPaint X! THE POWER I NOW WIELD!

(basic rundown of designs under cut)

B-Side Wiggly - Most B-Side designs are basically just “the character but with a different colour scheme and a few new accessories”, at least from what I’ve seen. I don’t know why I chose Tinky’s colour scheme specifically, but I like the mix between blue and gold.

Naturally, as this is a B-Side design, I gave him a microphone for the whole… rapping thing. I also replaced his coral crown with a dollar store paper one, turned the frown on his fur pattern upside-down, and you can’t really see it because of the pose, but he also has Wiley’s dog tag necklace.

Dark World Adam - This was the only form I didn’t look up, but mainly because I knew even if I did, I wouldn’t get much out of it. We haven’t seen enough Dark World designs to be able to see much consistency from them.

The stripes on his horns kinda looking like an Imp’s (and being pieced with jewels because if his horns were real he’d totally do that) and his wings being more demon-y was intentional, but him kinda dressing like Toriel wasn’t. I just thought his robe being dark purple with flames on the sleeves and the Delta Rune on his chest would be fitting- a complete coincidence, but a fairly fitting one nonetheless!

Tainted Tozu - This one’s kind of a bastardisation of Tainted forms, because all I did was look it up once and go, “Ah, yes. I have to make one of my favourite characters look like a character from a bad creepypasta with some shoehorned-in religious symbolism.”

Naturally, Tozu was the only fitting option for that. I gave his mask a black half to call back to his OG design, turned his fake horns into real horns, and turned the X on his cape into a real X made of blood. I also went ABSOLUTELY HARD on making his eye look as creepy as possible without overdoing it- I think I did well!

Shimmering Pomni - Now, I didn’t technically need to look this one up, but I haven’t touched Terraria in a while so I needed a recap on what exactly Shimmer forms looked like. I was surprised to see that a fair bunch of them are actually references to various other games- with that, I was left with only one option.

Gave her cape a star design on its interior… mainly because it looked good, but also because the Star Cloak exists, and no matter how subtle it was, I needed to throw some Terraria stuff in there SOMEHOW. Hence the presence of the little magical girl stars around her: no matter how much of a Deltarune reference it seems, it’s still a Shimmer design at heart.

Moonbound Mind - Looked up what exactly a Moonbound design was only to quickly see that they are ABSOLUTELY AWESOME holy fuck I love this aesthetic???

Naturally, there was noone more fitting for a Moonbound Design than… the Sun. What, did you think I’d say Heart? Gave him a nice little royal design (he’s the ruler of everything in the end~) …and I don’t know why I made that moss so sparkly, but. It looks good. I like sparkly things, alright?!

Mirror Dimension Myke - That’ll only make sense to people who have been following me for the past few months, but that’s right! Myke’s a Visitant in the Mirror Dimension! A fairly sadistic and hostile Visitant, but… hey, it’s Myke, what were you expecting?

I chose the Mirror Dimension specifically for this free space… pretty much because I wanted another excuse to talk about it. The thought process behind his design was basically just “make him look like a really cool superhero”, fitting for a defender of the truth such as himself.

The visor was inspired by Peridot from Steven Universe, what with the similar colour schemes they have, and… hey- hey Myke, THE TEMPLATE! STAY INSIDE THE TEMPLATE, FOR FUCK’S SAKE!

Fangames I Co-direct

- Fallen Fates - Undertale Prequel Full Fangame (?)

Fallen Fates is an Undertale Prequel that aims to follow the "What if you got to play as Chara when they originally fell into the Underground?"

Status: LONG Hiatus. Stuck on concept development as the lead project head is busy with his career. Hopefully, we can jump-start development soon! But we're not fully sure WHAT type of game it'll be. So despite being an old project, it's been rebooted and on hold. That said the team really does want to make this game regardless of how long it takes.

- Sensational Studio's Underswap - Undertale AU Full Fangame

An Underswap fangame that isn't what it seems... it aims to be an exciting re-imagining of Undertale with some Deltarune inspiration.

Status: VERY active development. While not publically discussed, the game has been in stead development this whole time.

- Alteration - Undertale AU (I'm a writer, NOT co-director)

On hold as the project lead is writing a draft. I help with the world-building and concept art. Not much I can say on this one as it's been rebooted.

- Angel's Lullaby - Undertale Prequel Full Fangame

An ambitious Prequel that aims to be a "next console (DS) style prequel" that covers the Human and Monster War. Following a new protagonist, a Zombie, who is stuck between both sides of the conflict. Use your unique abilities to form a party and decide which side you'll join. Explore the Island of Monsters and uncover their past and secrets. Can you stop the war?

Status: MESSY. Ok so like. This is my fault 100%. We've switched engines MULTIPLE times and that meant re-coding things every time. Outside the battle system, the game's systems are 90% done. Cutscenes, dialogue, menus, save system, etc. So it's CLOSE to becoming a demo but I simply have been burnt out + don't have much time in the day to work on this. However, I DO think I'll keep working on this as the gameplay is fresh and exciting, and my love for the characters are coming back.

- NightFell - Underfell AU Full Fangame

Jackie is just a regular human teenager who stumbles upon a gateway into hell. There, they'll face the monsters who live on Mt.Crown and are stuck here. There's only one rule in this place: Kill or Be Killed!

A very different take on Underfell, that aims to place the Undertale cast and push them into an Underfell society instead of them having always been in one.

This is honestly my favorite project. It's built on the ideas I developed from a canceled fangame called Spookytale, with permission from Jevil to continue the concepts. My most favorite OC ever, Pumpkin, is in this game. While I am waiting for the DR engine my friend Lasers and I are working on to be made first, Nightfell is honestly the least ambitious and most fun game to make. While the story is a rough draft, it's the most complete. I ADORE this game. I'm so excited to make it.

- Fallen Royalty / New Royals - A webcomic / Video game Combo

An Everybody Lives AU that aims to take a hard look to what it'd be like to actually be resurrected. Deals with the themes of growing up, moving past trauma and accepting a second chance at life.

Originally an askblog from 5 years ago, Fallen Royalty is a rebooted comic that I work on. It has a video game adaption, New Royals, as well as video-game segments for the sidestories. Kinda stuck in development at the moment, as I got [redacted] to work on. But the newest Sidestory, DOWN, is in development and should be out soon-ish.

This is my magnum opus, my love letter to Undertale. I have to make a version of this story that's complete and to my best of writing. The tumblr askblog version, while finished, is missing chunks of the story. Follow me at @askfallenroyalty to see it's development

Danny Phantom

- Electrical Undead - my default AU full of headcanons.

In short here are the main ones: Danny has an electrical/light core + full inverted colorscheme + No clones, Ellie is an AU counterpart instead + Nonbinary Sam and trans Danny + sentient portal

- Lingering Spirits - Farmboy!Danny + Nobody Knows AU

When the weird new kid, Danny, moves into town, strange incidents begin to occur. Ghostly sightings, unexplained phenomena, danger around every corner... Can Sam and Tucker get to the bottom of it before the whole town breaks into chaos?

A Horror AU with an angsty, bitter Danny. When his parents are taken during the portal accident, Danny and Jazz move in with Aunt Alicea. After an incident, the family moves to Amity.

So basically: Fallen Royatly is my main thing. SS will require me every few weeks to work on things. FF and NF are on hold. Angel's is in development, typically worked on every Monday but has been on hold since I moved. When I'm burnt out on working on Undertale stuff, I'll work on Danny Phantom stuff. I always have something going on so I keep myself active.

I feel this is a little mean, but the Youtube Theory Crew feel like they are way behind Tumblr Theory Crew in both breadth and depth of their analysis of the game.

You know what? Fair.

I mean, some of those people are actually on tumblr (Dorked at least) and there are specific which I'd say some of them have covered more in-depth than any tumblr posts I've at least seen. For example, there's HalfBreadChaos's element video, Jaru's shadow crystal video, and Andrew Cunningham has what is in my mind the definitive DeltaRune narrator video with everything we have as of Chapter 2.

But I can definitely see where you're coming from. Like, on the one hand, I think the tumblr theory community can be so wide in their breadth (partly because it's a lot easier to justify typing up a rambly tumblr post about random details than scripting recording and editing a whole YouTube video about such details) that there's probably a lot of stuff it gets obsessed over that isn't really relevant. But it does also allow for catching on to things the YouTube theorists miss; like, no one's made a video focused on the water stuff in DeltaRune yet as far as I know (though the original ocean.gg observation that originally led me down that road was brought to my attention by a HalfBreadChaos video). Maybe I'll be the one to do that. Maybe.

And in terms of character analysis in particular, I think the tumblr theory community has the YouTube theory community beat by a mile. Not to say I'd agree with the takes of everyone in the tumblr community, but it at least feels like there's a lot more thought and focus on it here. Like, I don't think I've ever seen a Youtube video that really Gets Noelle, Susie, Ralsei, or the Kris - Susie - Noelle dynamics the way certain people here on tumblr do (though if people have recs, I'd love to hear them!). I'm pretty sure tumblr caught on to the idea that "hey, maybe Kris's red eyes and knife trick doesn't mean they're going to go around killing everyone in Chapter 2" way faster than YouTube did.

And while I haven't watched, say, Jaru's Spamton analysis video (and I get how it must suck to put so much into a project like that only for a bunch new canon info to drop and potentially upend a lot of it), that's because of how turned off I was by his Frisk & Chara takes and other vids I've vagueposted about here.

(Also the fact that Jaru made that whole Frisk - Chara - Kris video and just casually implied via attributing a line of narration to Frisk that he hadn't even heard of NarraChara? Like, it's one thing to not believe it, but to just take for granted that Frisk is narrator implies he did literally zero research on other people's takes on Chara that would have least made him question that.)

(Also he made a video about whether DeltaRune was a different timeline or an entirely separate universe to UT and decided it was a different timeline because otherwise there was no way to justify how similar the two were, only to admit later that he hadn't even thought of the alternate explanation of them being parallel universes? A very popular sci-fi concept? And, even worse, when people were bringing it up in the comments, he refused to give it genuine consideration until it was the only way to make his Sans theory work? Like, how am I supposed to believe you're actually willing to be proven wrong like you say you are after that?)

The only exceptions to this character analysis point in my mind are Dorked, who, again, is also a tumblr person, and Andrew Cunnigham's videos on Kris specifically. He gets them.

It was interesting listening to those podcast videos and seeing the places where I heartily agreed with the Youtubers' takes (like how most of them agreed that pianpian does not disprove that Kris can play piano - though they were mainly countering another YouTuber, Two Left Thumbs, in that section), and then the places where I was kind of disappointed by their analysis. Like, my man Andrew being kind of surprised at Noelle's growing relevance to the story, as if she isn't equal with Kris in being at the thematic center of the narrative (in my opinion anyway).

And then the whole thing where they were talking about how the dark worlds work and largely seemed to come to a consensus that their histories are backloaded in when the fountains are made... I talked about this in a tumblr server already so I'll just copy-paste that. For context, someone else brought up the topic and was talking about how they dislike the theory because:

there's no way to prove it or disprove it. Very simply: if they darkworlds didn't exist before they were made then there would be no NARRATIVE reason to have it be a function of them to just make shit up about their histories. Functionally it is identical to if they had always existed.

To which I added:

"i feel like making it so the dark worlds only exist when a fountain's made also takes agency away from the darkners in a way that makes them less compelling as characters. "like, when i posted about how noelle's interactions with spamton as detailed in the bluecircle secret page is pretty good proof that spamton and, by extension, the dark worlds, were around before the fountain, there were a few people in the notes who said they hold to the other theory and that the dark worlds were just drawing on that history when making spamton. "and i didn't response to any of them, but, like... that's just less interesting to me. i like the idea that spamton, as a character with agency, was reaching out to lightners and had this moment of connection with noelle. if they were actually just random emails that later "became spamton" or whatever... first of all, it really doesn't feel like it's written that way, the writing makes it feel like those emails were sent by someone with some agency, and secondly... it's lame. imo."

I get that it complicates our understanding of what the fountains actually do (Queen does say the Knight "deigned to create this world" that day, for example) and the exact relation between the darkners as characters and the items they're supposedly derived from, so I wouldn't necessarily say it's the easier, obvious answer... but at this point, if you actually look at all the evidence, I think it has to be some variant of "the darkners have always been sentient in some form and the dark worlds existed in some form before the Knight started making fountains". And a lot of tumblr people already figured that out, for both that reason and the more thematic reason I talked about.

And this is all without talking about the wide gulf between UT tumblr and YouTube theorists. Like, there are genuinely great UT analysis vids, talking not just about lore, but characters and themes. But, like, you know that tumblr post that goes ""undertale's meaning finally explained" actually, youtube man, tumblr user girl16378 figured it out years ago"? That post is spot on.

TL;DR, the tumblr and YouTube UT/DR theory communities have different strengths and weaknesses. They're both huge, and there are great thinkers and shitty takes in both, so your impression of both is gonna largely come down to which creators you happen to see.

That being said, I totally get it, anon.

Boundaries♡

I don't have any issues with people really but I'm not exactly a extroverted person but I like to hang out via calls or games! When I meet people I am a bit hesitant but I do like to talk and listen as long as we can both keep the convo going , but there's certain things I will not tolerate, aka the following

(slander of Lgtbq+ any other genders or sexualities ) now as a person who's not straight myself, I don't judge if you are straight or not, but I will not react kindly to making fun of this. I'm not fully aware of every thing even new ones and flags because I never really payed attention due to my life growing up.

(Racism ) now, I really love dark jokes, but it comes to something seriously racist or comments that make others uncomfortable I will not tolerate behavior like this.

(SA/ other stuff or grooming/pedo ) if you find this stuff okay, don't interact at all this isn't okay in any manner. The only acceptance I take of this is when it's in a characters past / story and you mention it to inform someone or have some angst to a story but if you support these it's a no go.

(Making fun of mental illness with serious intent) same as the previous thing I will not tolerate the comments hateful towards this, but if a character has any of these please do your best to research it so this doesn't come off as offensive and if you think you have any certain illness ect, please seek medical assistant ect so a doctor could provide you proper evaluation of this, because I am not a therapist or a doctor unfortunately, but I am someone who hopefully you can rely on.

Back on topic of my boundaries (toxic behavior ) i will not stand for any of this rather it's straying from judging a certain pair from the game or someone else's head cannons, it's not okay to talk down upon someone who has different likes or opinions then you, even if it's cannon please keep your opinions to yourself, you can talk to me about it if you don't really see it yourself, but please keep it respectful, but with this you are allowed to have different opinions! Let's just not cause a fight over this ♡.

~My introductory post is supposed to be a simple description of myself and what I do, but it is outdated and dry :/ So now, I'll take the time to make a more clear 'About me' post and then later update up my pinned post :)

•Playing piano. I've mentioned it a couple of times already, but it just shows how much I really love it :)

•Obanai Iguro- I love his design and his character, personality, and backstory. I think he's a very well written character and has a lot more to him than being in love with Mitsuri🐍

•Muichiro Tokito- At first, I was drawn to him and literally fangirled over him for a really long time and read fan-fics about him💀 But then the energy died down a little bit :0 I still like him tho💙🌁

•Komi Shouko- She reminds me a lot like myself with her social anxiety (expect mine isn't that bad) The show was really cute and she was probably my favorite because of.. everything :D

•I don't really remember a lot of the other characters, but I also thought Tadano was pretty silly and stuff heehe >:)

•Pochita- Pochita is so silly and cute and silly and cute and I loved him.. Pochita is also very important so that's another reason aside from his silliness🧡

•Kobeni and Power- I thought Kobeni's whole reason for becoming a devil hunter in the first place was really sad and I felt bad for her, and I also just loved her scared and silly view of things. Power on the other hand is a character I love for her energy and personality. I was originally planning on being her for Halloween while my sister was going to be Makima, but things changed and she chose something else🥲

•Aki (forgor last name)- He's very bbg. All I have to say🔪🦊

•Amane Yugi/Hanako- Loved both of them equally, given that they're technically two different people, but Amane holds a special place in my heart. His story was sad and traumatic, everything a good main character needs. Design, voice, story, character relationships, all of it. I love him❤️

•Kou Minamoto- Trying my best not to get too wild right now.. Literally every character in this show had an amazing English and Japanese voice, and he was probably one of my favorites. He is veeery bbg and deserves all of the love🎴

•Mitsuba Sousuke- Only @yuichiroleftarm knows what I mean when I say I love him.. The literal second he was introduced, it was like almost all of my mutuals with Muichiro.. Trust me when I say you don't wanna know how much I really love this guy.. I've said some things none of you guys will ever know🩷💀

•These are my top three, but if you ask me, pretty much everybody in the show is fine asf (Sakura swearing?) Still though, this probably surpassed my first love for Demon Slayer I'd say.. Still love both tho :')

undecided if i'll do a full writeup about this with Actual Evidence And Stuff eventually, but i feel pretty strongly that Kris is better understood as the Deltarune equivalent of the First Fallen Human (FFH)/Chara Undertale than as equivalent to Frisk or some combination of the two. partly because it just makes the most immediate sense (they're Asriel's adopted human sibling with emotional problems. come on) but also because like... if this is a universe where Asriel gets to be alive and experience growing up, isn't it only fair that the FFH/Chara gets that chance too?

like, DR is this alternate universe where we get to see every (well, sort of, more on that later) Major Character from Undertale in a new context. based on what we've seen, we know that they're all fundamentally based on the same "model" in Deltarune as they were in Undertale -- the context of their lives, and the options available to them, are just different here.¹

NarraChara Theory (NCT) aside,² the FFH was the one Major(!!!!) Character in Undertale who didn't really get a chance to tell their own story (or at least do so in an explicit way). players who don't finish No Mercy will never even "meet" them directly; to most players, Chara is little more than someone else's experiences and memories.

with that in mind, i feel like creating a very obviously Chara-shaped hole in the fabric of Deltarune's universe, one that correlates pretty closely to a life they didn't get to live in Undertale, and filling it with the "model" of Frisk instead just kind of... erases Chara, I guess? and having Kris be a combo of the two diminishes Chara & Frisk and undermines the whole deal of them being separate people.

not that it's unthinkable that this choice could have been made, but to me it doesn't really feel like a meaningful choice. i have a hard time imagining what that choice would be saying beyond something kind of vaguely cynical, and that doesn't really feel consistent for how these stories have been written thus far. Frisk already has their story in Undertale, we already love Frisk, and we already gave them the best outcome we could. it feels pointlessly cruel, to me, to force them into the role of this honestly pretty troubled teen, with a difficult healing journey ahead of them, when there's clearly another character in the repertoire who better matches this role and would benefit from this kind of journey more than anyone else.

anyway i don't necessarily think Deltarune/Toby is ever going to explicitly state Oh By The Way This Kid Is Actually Who Chara Undertale Would Be In This Context, and clearly Kris as a character and Deltarune more broadly are intended to explore a whole, whole lot more ideas than just Hows Stuff Relate To That Other Game. but I do think some of Toby's choices for Kris might be in conversation with his choices for the FFH in Undertale and how those choices impact how we end up feeling about them.

in Undertale, Chara has a voice, but depending on how you feel about NCT, that voice is either mostly limited to the darkest possible manifestation of their character, or it's so subtle that it's commonly overlooked or even disregarded except when they're at their worst. Kris's lack of an explicit "voice" (so far) and complicated relationship with player control begs us to read between the lines about who they are and how our influence affects them in a way that's much harder to ignore. after all, we have well-accepted precedent for understanding a "vessel" whose voice we can't hear.

i also think this is partly why Kris's name and sprite call to mind Frisk's.³ it's not to suggest that they are literally equivalents of one another; it's to get us in the mindset of treating them in the same way as we treat Frisk, to pay attention to the ways in which they do and don't exercise their agency and consider what it means about them.

if we can come to forgive or at least understand Flowey/God of Hyperdeath Asriel after learning who he was and how his situation shaped him, how would seeing Chara from a different angle affect how we think about them? would we reconsider how much our influence affects what we see of them?

i think this might be partly why Asriel isn't really present so far in Deltarune. IMO, having him be at college isn't just Toby Epic Trolling The Fans Because He's A Mercurial Trickster God. i think it's Toby saying, "hey, there was someone you didn't get a chance to make friends with before. maybe you should spend a little time with them instead." and that's a choice that does feel meaningful to me, you know?

¹ freaking universe-hopping skelebros sort of aside, if we assume they're From Deltarune, but we could still argue that changing contexts will probably impact their personalities across DR & UT, just in a way that involves continuity of their same characters instead of separate instances I GUESS LOL???? also yeah, take any thoughts you may be having about about Doctor Mister Gaster "The Blaster" and set them somewhere that is not here for a little while because this post isn't about him OK!!!!!!

² I personally like to think NarraChara Real and may have been intended to stand in as their "voice," but even if it WAS intentional, the fact that Chara As Diegetic Narrator 1) has many skeptics (including me, originally) and can be (and often is) disputed with pretty reasonable arguments and also 2) isn't picked up on by most players in the first place (again, including me) means it's too subtle on its own to outweigh the popular fanon opinion that chara has always been an Evil Demon Murder Baby and not just like. a troubled but fundamentally well-meaning kid who just needed some direction after making the worst mistake of their entire life. and i have to imagine Toby would have thoughts he might like to explore about that also fwiw i don't actually think NarraChara has to be "real" for there to still be room for more nuanced/compassionate readings of Chara just based on the explicit info we have about them lol. and also, it's entirely possible that chara is meant to be viewed unsympathetically in UT, and DR is meant to play on that. I Don't Know OK!!!!!!

³ this is aside from the fact that I'm not convinced the No Mercy Chara sprite is really supposed to be taken as like, the literal canon representation of how they looked when alive, just like how "Chara" probably isn't meant to be understood as their literal true name in-universe (it's their True Name in a metanarrative sense -- like, if you know to input this name, then it's because you know enough about this game to know that the name you're putting in represents neither the body you control nor you, the player; as well as that "Chara" is the placeholder name this character would have had in development -- i.e., before any players had "called their name"). if i had to guess, i'd say Toby probably made No Mercy Chara look like that as a way to make it as clear as possible that the person talking to us isn't Frisk. (i wanna point out the unused Waterfall reflection sprite here -- this could be seen as an easter egg showing that Kris and Frisk were meant to be equivalent, yeah, but contextually I think it makes just as much (if not more) sense for it to just be seen as a scrapped indicator that chara was hitching a ride. in that case, this may have been the design we were originally meant to see at the end of No Mercy. what im trying to say here is toby is human and making choices based on what he thinks are the best options at the time and it's reasonable to think he might just change his mind about things like what an undead child looks like as the options change lol)

#whenever i assert something about Toby's intentions here what i really mean is I Think It's Worthwhile To Think About It This Way Instead #obviously i'm not Toby. i don't know him. i'm not his friend. i could be totally wrong about his intentions LOL #i just don't want to spend too much energy couching every single statement in rhetorics of probability and gentle suggestion #anyway im not sure this is really a theory #so much as just a preferred reading of an incomplete game with an unclear relationship to another notoriously enigmatic game #but i guess ill tag it theory anyway LOL #deltarune #deltarune theory #kris deltarune #chara undertale #$ chadley deltaruminations original lorepost corner

Can I just say I love how the TV keeps getting plugged and unplugged in this blog’s canon

Like. Most people would assume that it’s been unplugged for years until just getting plugged back in in Chapter 2 for whatever reason,

But honestly one thing I’ve wanted to talk about for a while but never know how to word is how the reason fan content of future Chapters never really hits the same way the real thing does is because of assumptions like that. Unlike Toby, who already knows what he’s gonna do with everything, we as the fans don’t typically take the opportunity to build off of small stuff like that, or just add new things to old characters instead of simply recycling what we currently have. Despite the fact that a lot of things we didn’t know in Chapter 1 actually came from things we did know, like how when you see the knockoff controller for the console under Kris’s bed, you’re supposed to assume that it was used by them as yet another visual display of their inferiority complex, only to find out that it was actually used by Asriel so they could have the real one. Or how it was revealed in Chapter 2 that Alphys’s “Cat” is actually Susie. Or how Queen’s sipping noises from Chapter 4 were never shown off or foreshadowed previously, they were just made up on the spot because her whacky personality allows for that kind of randomness, and in turn, also makes it kinda off-brand for her to not have new stuff. The thing about the plug is especially synonymous with the first thing ‘cause the whole extra lore about Toriel being some kinda god basically hinges on it

Overall, I’d say it’s safe to say adding small new things and building off of small old things is a decent chunk of what makes DR as good as it is, and without that, it just feels like something’s missing

Not that that’s not understandable. Coming up with your own shit can be pretty hard, especially if you’re not planning on covering a full Chapter’s worth of content. Plus the concern about how poorly stuff like that might age, considering what happened with Mike- Shit I’m getting side tracked

Anyway yeah, I like how this blog’s take on the Chapter has a neat detail like that

this is so sweet, thank you anon! 😭 like ive said before i dont wanna knock other people's fan chapters - the creativity in this fandom is really great and i love seeing what people come up with! there's a lot of it that i haven't really been able to keep up with, and lots of ocs that seem to have popped up because one person made a cool little idea and people latched on. but for tvland, i wanted to keep it tied to the game as we know it as much as i can, even with the nature of this kind of thing making a lot of it have to rely on my own creativity and headcanons. a lot of people have told me tvland is somewhat unique in that regard, so i'm glad everything people have been coming up with seems to be their own!

kris unplugging tenna and throwing out all their things bc of how they sympathize w the darkners is an idea ive gotten more and more attached to as time goes on. i can't know exactly what's going on in toby's head, but i like to write the blog as though someone handed me deltarune as an unfinished game and went "how would this end?" the big line of the game is "no one can choose who they are in this world", and i'm sure people who've been following and will keep following me and @officialralsei have probably picked up on where that theme pops up again and again. i don't want to show my whole hand when it comes to what i'm doing here, since i am telling a story at the end of the day, but the two of us spend so much time going over the darkner stuff in the game with a fine-tooth comb that i at least hope i made a satisfying continuation to it here.

in the end, this tenna won't be canon. but she means a lot to me, and it seems like a lot of people love her! if it turns out she's a totally different character in canon, we can just pretend this one is her long-lost cousin or something :P

I'm doing alright, 'cautiously optimistic' is more like it...!

1 - I've always been attracted to making things and seeing how things are made. I remember always looking in awe as a kid when my dad would open up the VHS player to clean it and he would show me how it worked.

So naturally, I kinda just always stuck with drawing because I loved reading comics, I would doodle in class, flipbooks, all that good stuff. I started "taking it seriously" (ex: became obsessed with digimon) at like.. 13 or something, as you do. I lived in the middle of nowhere in the 2000s with primitive internet so I had to teach myself how to draw. I remember constantly taking out the only book on artist anatomy in the library several times.. deviantart tutorials were starting to pop up so mid 2000s there were some of those... But it was pretty much just through observation and making my friends pose for me while I drew lol (I have a whole can of worms about that but oop i won't rant)

2- Bringing back the 'creating of things', I low key scold myself everytime I get invested in a new craft. I really wish crafts were more appreciated instead of it being seen as an old lady or kid thing.. So I enjoy a lot of crafts!!! Sewing, embroidery, painting, MAKING paint, making paper/bookbinding, beading, crocheting, stained glass, cooking/baking, so many damn things. My absolute favourite types of videos to watch are the 'making sculptures out of trash', or restorations (paintings, consoles or old things) just.. HNG. CREATING STUFF AND SEEING HOW THERE'S MADE. AAA 😔👌

3 - When it initially blew up lol it came out in September 2015, I was visiting back home and just enjoying autumn, but my tumblr dashboard was getting inundated with two cartoon skeletons and something about spaghetti? So in October I went back to my apartment and thought 'huh ok lets give it a shot i guess', BAM. heart full, tears wept. Gote boi hugged.

Deltarune was more of a surprise lol Since that day before halloween in 2018, the undertale twitter was being cryptic so I thought it was going to be a Gaster reveal or something. Nope, he just ... dropped a whole ass game on halloween. Amazing. I remember zooming home in the rain after work to play it. I thought it was a troll by Toby, like he saw all the endless AUs being made and decided as a joke he'd make his own AU. But... the game kept going and I thought, 'ok this is too elaborate to be a prank omg' ALSO, seeing Ralsei all cloaked up and mysterious, i sus'd him out IMMEDIATELY (mainly because my fav is Asriel and YOU KNOW the first thing i did was hug Ralsei because i cried like a baby in undertale) The one thing I wanted from undertale was for Asriel to be by your side and supporting you (instead of being a sneaky soulless flower) and HELL YEAH I GOT MY WISH. AAAA

5 - meh I've never been a shipper of any kind. Even when I have 2 characters do a thing together that people immediately go 'OMG HAVE THEM KISS' i'm just like '??? no ??? they're very close friends, are they not allowed' idk idk i feel like i'm on the outside of things like that. I personally despise labels and I just like to play with characters and their different personalities, stories and stuff. Its like playing in a sandbox.

I'm 100% sure I'll be making a Cuphead fanfic and I'm really, REALLY tempted on making one on Catz 2 to be honest, I love everything about these two games!

Thanks in advance if anyone is interested and wants to stick around, that would mean a lot to me...and yeah, hopefully I don't make a mess- I'm here to try to have fun and to entertain you all a little bit.

Maybe I could make different blogs for my fanfictions and keep this one for updates/notes/etc, that could help me keep everything in order but we'll see- no one noticed me yet, I shouldn't start thinking about these kind of things!

What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out? Would you do it again?

i wrote my first crossover fic! they're not usually my thing so it seemed kinda wild to do but i was really surprised how naturally the characters worked together. plus i was really happy to see a few other people excited about it 👍

What’s something you learned about yourself as a writer?

i learned a lot about myself and my identity through writing characters i love! especially exploring relationship anarchy and other non-traditional relationships, it gave me the language to describe how i feel about my friends and people who are important to me overall 💞

also that i'm way more likely to get a fic done if i can crank out a draft/outline in one sitting 😭🙏

What piece of media inspired you the most?

nu: carnival! i’m thriving with relationship anarchy being built into the canon 😩👌

What fandom(s) did you write for this year?

sk8, nu:c, and one deltarune fic! also posted some one piece but it was stuff i wrote the previous year

What ship(s) captured your heart?

the sk8 cast polycule, primarily four wheels (adam/langa/reki/tadashi), kept me Running for a good chunk of the year. i love all the different dynamics and history between the characters and it's really fun to explore how they can work in all different ways.

also some combinations of quincy/kuya/blade of nu: carnival, there's a lot of fun (potential) history going on there and i have Many more ideas i'd like to execute in 2023

Did you write for a new fandom or ship this year?

nu: carnival yes! and that one deltarune fic fjdksf

What fic meant the most to you to write?

THE CROSSOVER FIC, exploring that sweet religious trauma is so cathartic

What fic made you feel the happiest to work on?

i feel fine, i haven’t been feelin it much lately but writing paramedic quincy is a treat and i’m hoping i can get back into it soon 👀

two old friends and an e-droid bc i speedran that shit for elise’s birthday

probably i feel fine until just this next chapter where i got STUCK

i like video game soundtracks, usually lo fi mixes of like animal crossing, the sims, or a hat in time

i don’t usually eat while i write but i love tea

probably any fic that’s not titled with song lyrics and honestly some of them that are song lyrics bc they were a last resort

“It doesn’t matter what your relationship with Tadashi is like, compared to others,” Ainosuke said. “I feel… different sorts of feelings about all three of you. We share different things with each other. But I think… by association, we’re all important to each other. While we have our individual relationships, we also work as a unit. Right?”

Reki hadn’t thought about it that way… but it made perfect sense. All four of them met up plenty, whether for their regular check-ins or just a nice dinner. He liked his moments alone with Langa, and with Ainosuke, but he liked seeing everyone together just as much.

”Tadashi likes you,” Ainosuke continued. “He may not always show it, but he’s fond of you. He likes spending time with you. He gets plenty of alone time with me already— and if he needs more, he knows he can talk to me about it.” He gave Reki another kiss, this one on the nose. “You’re not intruding. I promise.”

What’s something that surprised you while you were working on a fic? Did it change the story?

i don’t have specific examples but certain characters (particularly ainosuke) love taking the wheel and changing the entire course of the fic so that’s always an adventure

What did you use to write? (programs, paper & pen, etc.)

just google docs! sometimes also a word counter app on my phone if i’m writing quick drabbles

If you had to choose one, what was THE most satisfying writing moment of your year?

not necessarily Just writing but fandom rhythm vol 1 going live

for writing specifically, hmmmaybe posting not quite anointed and having other people care about it

Did you do anything special to celebrate finishing a fic?

not in particular, my fics tend to be on the shorter side so i’m just like 🎉 woo time to post

How did you recharge between fics?

actually been reading a lot more in these past few months, particularly outside the fandoms i write for which has been LOVELY

writer friends! @dykecassidy who i love talking fic with regardless of our fandoms, @hyuge & @theinsanefox i got to know this year and have been lovely beta readers & general support buddies, and of course @waaaluigiboard who constantly puts up with my yelling 😌❤ also @ficwip and all the regulars there!

What’s something you want to write in 2023?

i think i’d like to finish my big four wheels fic! it’s a silly one based on a cheesy romcom and i have it all outlined i’m just. always tired and swamped with events and deadlines. but i’m hoping to sign up for less and focus more on my own stuff, less on current trends or w/e and just write things i want to write at my own pace.

it’d also be fun to write for a new fandom! i got really into deltarune, supernatural, and fnaf this year and it’d be fun to explore those more in fic ✨

Okay, my brain is still a little scrampled eg :tm: and foggy and I'll have to go to sleep again soon but I want to ramble about this as I think writing it down may help others but also help to ram it in my own head a little bit - so this may not be worded the way id like it to but hopefully the message will still come across

This is about fanwork/headcanons/aus and such - since I am working on quite a big Deltarune AU myself and I constantly worry about it not being "canon" enough, since it is meant to be canon-esk and develop things that the player doesn't see in the game.

But... That is kind of the magic of aus! You can do so much cool stuff with an existing media, potray things your own way, change things to suit your needs or change problematic things, add cool ocs, add cool headcanons and make them canon in the au and create things to support them even more, and other things!!! literally go ham and have fun!!!!!! i am thinking abt that one post that i rbd a while ago that i rbs bc of the last addition abt aus and how people should make oc worlds at that point (and how that is how twilight was created)

And I suppose, if you change canon characters too much and claim them as your ocs (like the fucking mass amount of spamton ex ocs, and we know how i feel about those /neg) but still!! literally just have fun its not harming anyone, only absolutely butthurt negative assholes!!! ive been worrying about changing stuff in **MY** au because one or two people out there may not like it.

if you were in the early bugsnax fandom you may remember the drama about people giving them tails. yes!! people argued abt giving grumpuses tails!! and like !!who cares!! change the designs however the fuck you want! go ham!! make them fluffy! give them cute ears and tails! give them paw pads! give them cool markings! make them in your design and make your version of them truly yours and make it fun to draw! im sure all those designs are lovely and fun and if you wanna do it nothing should fucking stop you

and same goes for me and other ppls hcs!! currently i was worrying about making everything kinda furry-esk in my dpau and all that, and the MASSIVE changes ive done to plugboys and yesmen especially (literally making yesmen snake people for several reasons)

and like!! who cares its not canon!! its MY interpretation!! its MY au!! my au that changes so much stuff and allows me to create an amazing oc story and world within an pre-existing media AND letting those characters interact with canon characters!! and add new stories with canon characters and expand canon species!! literally dont hold yourself back unless it stresses you out and shit! (i need to learn that lol..i add TOO much stuff) its not even canon and i fully know the difference!!!

but literally! its also an outlet for creativity and i think you should be allowed to go ham if you want. if someone tells you to not do something like give grumpuses tails or make the addisons fluffy theyre an asshole.

literally like as long as ur not making the media harmful like add gross shit like p//dophilia, z//philia and whitewash characters or do any other racist digusting shit then i think u should be allowed to have fun! wanna make smthn a furry? go on ahead have fun literally fuck ppl!! who is it harming????????? like! you can also dislike these things! just scroll look away, maybe block which is all fine and healthy you can and should do that! if a hc doesnt match yours and may make you uncomfy literally just ignore it. dont start shit thats pointless. spend ur time better, draw cute puppies instead or smthn!! or speak about it privately bc i think being a bit bitchy with friends is okay to have an outlet but if you go directly after someone literally fuck off. (i personally can confirm theres some things i bitch about a lot but guess what i also do!! i also block those things and look away!! and im actively tryna get better than be hurt over pointless stuff online bc its not smthn im proud of)
