“um…delusion.” you smiled at the camera, earning a snorting laughter from the girl behind the camera.

you could see her eyes water at the response. your face fell, though a small twitch of your lip let the viewers know you were about to joke with her,

“it is not that funny. relax, girl.”

she rubbed her eyes, her laughter slowly fading away, yet the smile was prominent on her face, “come on.”

“next question.”

“okay, this a good one. who’s your celebrity crush?”

you took a second to think about it before answering, “he isn’t really a celebrity, but if i were to go ‘famous’, i guess…i would probably say matt sturniolo. he’s really cute, but if we’re talking like, actors and shit, then dylan obrien is the way to go.”

your answer was so vague that you didn’t think it would cause too much of a big impact, but as you glanced behind the camera at your friend, you couldn’t help but take note of the wide eyed look she sent in your direction.

chris has heard of the girl before, but never really watched her videos since her content wasn’t really directed towards guys like him. but he knew for a fact that he’s heard yn’s voice coming from his older brothers room.

“hey, nick?!”

“what.” the eldest triplet deadpanned, walking into the living room where his brother sat.

“you know her?”

nick didn’t give it much thought as he looked at chris’ screen as he passed, “yeah, that’s yn. she’s a youtuber, why?”

“she likes matt.”

“who likes me?” the man himself walked into the room.

“yn ln.”

nick’s eyes widen, a sudden peak of interest flooding his veins, “oh my god. really?”

“is that not what i just said?”

“i heard what you said, i just didn’t understand it at first.”

“that makes no sense, nick.” chris scoffed, absentmindedly handing his phone off to matt as he and nick started an argument.

“it makes perfect sense.”

matt drowned out the conversation happening between the two, watching the video over for the third time before speaking, “she’s pretty.”

nick glanced at him, “right? what i would do to have her skin.”

matt raised his brow in agreement. you didn’t have nice skin.

“i sent her some lip balm, i’m wondering if she’s got it yet.”

“what does your lip balm have to do with her looks?” chris tried to rile his brother up again.

“stop talking to me.”

matt rolled his eyes, shaking his head softly as he went to his tiktok, just then noticing the amount of posts he was tagged in that mentioned you as well.

your video hadn’t even been out for a full day yet and there were already edits of you two.

one in particular got his attention with song, MMM HMM by Lancey Foux and the ‘boaf’ audio in the beginning of it.

without much thinking, he double tapped the edit, doing some more scrolling through the app before he eventually got bored and went to play a game in his bedroom.

what he wasn’t aware of was the uproar one like would cause between two fandoms.

Busy with important family events over the next couple of days, and so I thought it would be good to get a day-and-date release for this Debrief on the latest entry in my Sapphic Valley series, "How You Get The Girl." Be sure to read the story before jumping in!

Alright, I'm trusting you. Go ahead and hit that 'Keep Reading' button you scamp.

It only seems appropriate to start this Debrief off by addressing the elephant in the room. I haven't posted anything in over a month, and "By Moonlight" came about a month after its predecessor, the conclusion to "Stone-Cold Lovers."

Work, naturally, has been a major factor.

You can see me talk about that almost two weeks ago in this Tumblr post I made about writing in a coffee shop, which came weeks after I actually started writing during a trip to a friend's house.

Side note:

Just wanted to take a moment and acknowledge my beautiful Haley and Emily keychains. My friend who's responsible for the affairs of one ghostly farmer named Jizzabelle (Gisabelle to the laymen) got them for me! Only appropriate after I commissioned some art of her and Abigail.

Emily was my first Stardew wife, and Haley currently holds the biggest place in my heart. They make a lovely duo!

And I'll avoid any sister-wife jokes

While I've had some other projects like Zine writing to take care of, work and life can't explain the full absence.

The best way I can think to explain things is that:

I had the general writer's block, and

Despite the best intentions and advice of my irl friends and online pals like @alchemicallymoon and @duelbraids, I couldn't force myself to "break" that block by just... Writing something else.

This is entirely the result of my own psychosis. I have a tendency to carefully plot things out and impose a timetable that really doesn't need to exist. When I feel the cause is righteous enough, it's hard to get around that. In this case, I knew I needed to get my poll-winning idea out after dawdling for holidays like Valentine's Day, and then I knew I only wanted to post one more story before jumping on a very special event for my upcoming 30th AO3 post.

Thus, here we are: arbitrarily forcing myself into a spiral of writer's block misery because of a silly promise on Tumblr and my own sense of ordered chaos.

At the very least, this meant it's coming out not long after my AO3 pal InsertACatchyPennameHere also emerged from the woodwork to tell me they're working on something INSPIRED by my four-person friend group farm adaptations.

Much love to them, wherever they may be.

I'll probably start writing more eclectically now that my shoulders are unweighed, but don't expect my next publication to hit until I'm finished working on teasing the big event. All you Pokemon fans better get hype!

And oh how sweet this publication feels. Between my great set of recent ceramics, the figure drawing class I've been attending, and creative writing, I've felt more fulfilled than ever.

You're here to talk about Stardew, though. So let us talk.

This idea began less with any one event as it did a desire to advance the Alexis/Haley relationship, and Haley's characterization in particular. It was always going to end with watercolor painting reference, but 2 Willow Lane was what I really wanted to dig into.

As I see it, a lot of what keeps people invested in Stardew when its comfy vibes becoming routine is the air of mystery in Eric Barone's worldbuilding. Haley and Emily's parents being some world-traveling duo who left their home in the siblings' care for who knows how long (and who knows how many times over their lifetime) really piqued my interest. So much so that the new writing challenge I set for myself in "How You Get The Girl" was crafting a particularly long set of descriptions that emphasize how overwhelming the parents' influence feels — without creating an impenetrable wall of text.

Hopefully I succeeded in that. Let me know!

I tried to include some vaguely real world-adjacent references into that description of the house, as happens with the magical-realism world of Stardew Valley. For example:

The computer sitting next to their bonsai tree is an iMac G3, the kind of old 'futuristic' tech that my dad loves!

A Speedwell refrigerator is based on even more vintage tech, the Mayflower fridge, but named after a different ship ridden by Pilgrims coming to America.

That city that the family visited in an old photograph with a "monument of arching, interlocking steel" is, of course, Paris — with the statue bookends referencing any number of statues in the Louvre.

Haley's FAD magazine could be referencing any number of publications, but Vogue is probably the closest analogue to what I imagine her reading.

Furthermore, I took some notes on describing the home's layout off of my sister's apartment building, and I asked my bestie @trybard for input on what kind of hanging plant should be used in the transitional hallway. Hanging pothos, philodendron, and spider plants were the three options provided, and my response was appropriate:

They know so much about plants.

Go bug them about it.

I drew on other friends' knowledge to help decorate the house. Specifically, I asked one of my witchiest friends what kinds of protective wards someone like Emily would leave around doorways and windows. She had... A lot of reference material.

I picked Hazel given it purportedly "protects against evil; encourages abundance and inspiration." I also picked Amethyst as one of Emily's loved gifts, one that purportedly "absorbs negative energy, promotes harmony."

My witchy friend is the same one who provided the TikTok that I referenced in my advertisement post:

Perhaps the most important thing about 2 Willow Lane was the recurring motif of Barbie's Dream House.

As a surface-level reference, I think the groundwork is clear. Blondie's love of fashion and general queen bee demeanor fits comparisons to Barbie well, and she lives in a big ol' house full of stuff. We all saw Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie last year. It's still in the cultural zeitgeist.

I'm hip with the kids.

Yet, early on I also tried to make it clear that if this is a "dream" house, it's neither Haley's nor Emily's dream. Haley is a Barbie in that stereotypical sense, but also there's much to be mined from the analogy of a sort of powerless doll in an immutable house, constrained by social obligation to her family rather than literal plastic and stickers.

The cold open of Jodi and Sam was meant to stand alone, but in execution I also think drawing Kent's absence into the conversation makes for a more thematically rich comparison to these sisters who appear to have themselves more put together.

My beta reader said this wound up being one of my stronger stories because of how all of that intertwined, which I appreciated given how down on myself I was following the whole writer's block thing.

But also.

Also.

Alexis gets to be horny. She's hitting on lonely MILFs and watching girls shake their asses to the tune of bad reality TV.

We love a buff dommy mommy farm girl in this house.

Haley is probably horny too, she just doesn't realize it yet. For now I think it's fun enough to play into her being coy about building excuses for Alexis to come over, and then getting incensed when Emily barges in on their private time meant to learn more about this farm girl she just can't get out of her head.

Fun fact:

Every story in this series is named after a Taylor Swift song, but I know next-to nothing about her discography. All of them are suggestions by my friend whose house I was at when starting this story — the same one who controls Gardenia on the farm.

While I went with "How You Get The Girl," her alternative suggestion was "The Man."

All that w|w talk aside, I also want to give Sam the loveable idiot a shoutout. Had to do a fair bit of research into how skateboards are constructed for his failed ollie, and I slipped in a reference to shitty old technology that's exclusively for my beta reader to enjoy.

I also tried doing some agricultural research to figure out how the folks at Kevin Farm could have grown cucumbers so there'd be a jar of legitimate pickles... But that was getting too in the weeds.

Decided to just go with pickled artichoke hearts to save everyone a lot of trouble.

And where does "Kevin Farm" come from, you may be asking yourself. Or the fabulous "Kevin's Special" with its definitely not innuendo tagline.

Here's that Dad! Lemon x Reader, I hope you don't mind it being put into the form of headcannons and it being a Fem reader, but its all my brain can really do, aka; I've been getting a little lazy and headcannons and a fem reader are easiest and quicker.

Lemon As A Dad

When you both find out you're pregnant, he's a whole mess of emotions. He's happy and ecstatic, he's scared, he's freaking out but totally calm all at the same time.

He immediately calls Tangerine to tell him and I can imagine he's just fumbling over his words and such due to the excitement. Tan is trying to calm him over the phone so he can form coherent words and its just not working so you take the phone and talk to him about it so that way Tan doesn't start to yell at him due to his short fuse.

Tan is extremely happy for you two, he probably would take you guys a basket of sorts. Just things to get everything started off.

I think Tan and maybe your parents and siblings if you have them would be the only ones to know. You two being assassins and all doesn't really mean you get to have friends outside of your job. Maybe if you're cool with ladybug, he might know, but apart from that it just stays inside of family.

He's already thinking of names and such, making an entire list of them in fact. You find it so cute how excited he is.

You have no choice or say so when it comes to the nursery, because you just know its gonna be Thomas and Friends decorated no matter what you say.

I think he'd be very protective. Making sure no one in public is overwhelming you when your bump is visible.

He will punch someone if he has to, no joke.

He is such a boy dad. Say you see what gender the baby is and it turns out to be a boy hes just beaming with joy. I'm not saying he wouldn't like having a girl, but he seems like such a boy dad, y'know what I mean?

He would 100% constantly be talking to your belly. Making you watch Thomas and friends with him too as if the kid could see it with you two.

"How are you doing in there little man," "Not much longer until your out of mummy's belly, kiddo. I'm so excited to meet you."

He's freaking out the entire time you're going through labor.

You're like, screaming absolute pain, then he's screaming too.

"WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING, LEM?!" "SORRY!"

You truly love Lemon but he's not much help for you as he's loud and probably more scared than you. He'd have a panic attack.💀

After the kiddo's out and he holds him in his arms, he's full on crying tears of joy it's incredible. He loves him so much.

When it comes to naming the kid though💀

"You two have a name in mind for him?" The nurse asks, smiling.

Lemon looks at you with a pleading look as you're holding your newborn in your arms.

"We're not naming him after a fuckin' Thomas and Friends character." You say sternly.

"We need some time to think about it," Lemon says looking back at the Nurse.

Eventually you give in and decide on Edward. I feel it would either have been between Edward or Percy.

Oh man just wait until Tangerine finds out about the kid being named after a Thomas and Friends character.

He's not upset about it because its not his kid or something he can control, but he's just a little bit disappointed you gave in to Lemon.

"Alright love, you can go on in, I'll get Edward alright," Lemon says, opening the car door for you and helping you out.

You had just been allowed to be discharged from the hospital, and you and Lemon planned to immediately head home and have Tangerine over to meet Edward.

You smile at him in response and head on inside of your shared home.

You go inside of your bedroom and change out of your current clothes into some comfier ones.

Once you finish, you walk into the nursery where Lemon was putting Edward into a Thomas and Friends onsie, grinning widely.

"Lookin' dashing kiddo! Let's go and show mummy now," Lemon says, picking him up carefully, making sure to hold is little head up.

He turns around with Edward in his arms and smiles even wider when he sees you standing at the doorway.

"Look at him, love. Doesn't he just look adorable in this," Lemon says excitingly.

"You can relax on the couch with Edward while I clean up darling, don't worry," He says, carefully handing you Edward and guiding you to sit on the couch.

"He looks great, Lem. Let's get the living area situated though, Tan should be coming over soon." You say, laughing warmly at the sight of the two boys.

You tear up a little looking at them, Lemon's already such a great dad.

You would protest but it would be no use, as it would only lead to Lemon forcing you to relax no matter what.

You we're grateful for that. You knew that some dad's would have their wives do all the work whilst taking care of the child sometimes, just sitting on their arse and being a useless piece of shit. You were glad that Lemon was the complete opposite. Stubborn, even.

Lemon cleans the living area as you sit down on the couch with Edward, admiring how much he looks like Lemon.

*Knock, knock, knock*

"That must be Tangerine," You say, looking up at the door as Lemon looks through the peephole, confirming.

"Hey Y/n, how are you doing?" Tangerine asks, sitting next to you on the side where you were holding Edward.

He opens the door to let Tangerine in, greeting him.

Tangerine thanks Lemon and immediately walks towards you and Edward, a large grin on his face.

"I'm doing better now, just a little tired but Lemon has been a great help," You reply.

"Thats great, how's the little one been doing so far?"

"He's been doing good. He's 7 pounds and healthy, there were no complications other than Lemon freaking out at the hospital while I was in labor." You and Tangerine snicker.

Lemon glares at you from the kitchen as he stocked the cupboards with baby bottles.

"Whats his name,"

You give a look towards Lemon and look down at Edward who was currently sleeping.

"I swear to fuckin' god if you two named him after a Thomas and Friends character," He says as he looks at Lemon.

"Its Edward," Lemon says, clearing his throat afterwards.

"Fucks sake you two are unbelievable, this poor kid," Tangerine scoffs jokingly.

Honestly though, Tangerine is such a good uncle. When I tell you its almost like he's there constantly.

When Tangerine isn't busy and you and Lemon just want a day to yourselves as a break, he's more than happy to take care of him.

Tangerine would 100% buy him a matching West Ham Football Jersey.

During football season, Tangerine is holding Edward and when the team makes a goal he's just running around with Edward in his arms in the living area as it fills with the sounds of Edward's giggling and Tangerine's cheering.

Tangerine genuinely loves him so much and would probably do anything for him.

When you go back to work and Lemon or Tangerine aren't available to babysit then Ladybug would definitely be down to do so.

Lemon is very obviously against the idea at first but seeing as you have no one else to do so that you trust, he finally gives in to the idea.

I feel Ladybug would just be great with kids too man, know what I'm saying?

Lemon would probably cry when the kid starts going to school and you know it.

Like, he's tearing up trying not to let any tears fall as Edward is hugging him, and he finally breaks when he hears the little "Bye, daddy!"

You have to calm him down the whole ride back.

He immediately wants another kid because the thought of his kid growing up scares him so much.

Lemon is just such a genuinely good dad though. Growing up without parents in the orphanage he wants to give his kid a better childhood than he had.

He would totally kill anyone if the kid ended up getting hurt or is in danger no hesitation at all.

It's been WAY TOO LONG OH MY GOD- How do you guys put up with me Jesus Christ.

The last time I've talked about what was happening in my life I've mentioned that I just started working and trying to rebuild a social life, I also mentioned in one post how I got sick for a week or two I think- So I want to explain that part of the reason for me not writing anymore comes from the fact that my work exhausted me to oblivion.

I realized that kids were just a lot harder to work with than I anticipated and that I didn't want to stay my whole life working in the daycare because I started to pick up on my … Very unhealthy habits of coping.

So I recently quit, because my contract actually didn't seem to have a limit (I was so hoping it would have ended sooner but I'm glad I stayed longer, lmao I need money-). And I feel a lot better now, I'm not joking when I say that I actually got sick from work (the many times I got sick and couldn't do anything, were because of me being stressed, I no joke didn't notice this until my doctor pointed it out to me that I shouldn't be coming to see her with so little time in between meetings 💀)

The other reason is that I started writing and drawing for a webcomic I wanted to make about Brazilian magical girls with a fairy theme- And I felt conflicted whenever I tried to write for both my blog and the webcomic (I'm sorry I'm a one minded person, because if I try making more than one thing my brain fries 💀💀). Which by the way, my job made me give up on that too, like I know jobs are not supposed to be fun, that work is hard and oftentimes we'll be tired- But I never felt more soulless than at that time.

Another reason was that Tumblr kinda took a lot of space in my phone so I had to uninstall it and using it's website mode is just 🤺🤺🤺

I've been going to therapy now, to deal with my said unhealthy "coping habits" which I don't want to specify because you guys don't have to be burdened with that (also because it can be triggering to some), dealing with past trauma and how I can heal from it has been wonderful and to be honest I really do want to continue with the blog, but I have to be honest here: I'm a huge procrastinator when it comes to writing, I try to multi write (like multitask) different requests and fanfics at the same time- And that doesn't work for me 🤡

So. My writing will probably be very slow, and again I'm sorry for everyone who sent asks LAST YEAR (I'm so sorry I'm not even joking like seriously that's so fuckin mean and I didn't mean to do that I just suck at doing tasks ;-;).

I hope everyone is doing well, to everyone new I'm sorry you have to get to know the author by this way lmao, and I hope you're having a good day as well.

also, a part of me wonders if cranberry is mad at me? basically, he aksed me to write a steamy story abt him and han (thyre best friends) and didnt want his gf to find out incase she thought he was weird (bro she already does. shes ur gf. she knows what weird she signed up for smh)

anyways i made a small oopsie. i asked some people to critique it for me, and one of those poeple may have been the girl from my diary, whos friends with cranberry's gf, and who previously told machete i liked him when i wanted it to be a scret and explicitly told her so, and the one who i knew cannot be trusted with secrets because she will tell someone and lie about it 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

anyways cranberry was annoyed (and understandably so.) he said his gf was mad at him (impossible - if she was, shed be mad at ME first cos thats how women are. better than revenge is living proof. but she isnt! ) and i get it, but then people stop being mad, right? i mean, ive been really mad at him too, for a variety of reasons. i forgave him though and he didnt even apologize like i did! but he seemed normal at prom perhaps a bit icy? a guy friend told me im overthinkinngit and while he may have been annoyed it doesnt mean hd stop being friends with me or anything, and that he definitely wouldnt stay mad because its not a big deal.

but i texted him cranberry with a pretty obvious joke and he didnt even find it funny??? like thats HIS sort of joke??? how does he ot find that funny??? my friend says he must be mad then, but says theres the chance he just didnt find it funny?

like, i get it, but i want to make amends! and i wont even see cranberry in person so i can never tell. but if he was mad, he wouldve blocked me, or left me on delivered, or just opened. but he even sees my stories n stuff!

plus his friends would be mad if something happened. like guys are super gangy like that. but his friends are not mad at all, like han and this other guy are totally normal and no one sad that. even when han brought it up the day after the whole thing, he didnt imply it was serious and just dropped it after joking around abt it.

my friend did say if i was friends with cranberrys friends, it doesnt mean they have to be mad, but what if cranberry and his gf broke up over something as stupid as a joke???? and it was my fault??? i would feel awful and i cant even tell or say sorry.

nor can i ask han over text cos then hed tell cranberry and itd be weird. and i cant ask eli cos i dont want to set a bad rep.

he texted about it and i delved into a tiny argument he said its fine but "just think more next time". i think he and han both know i didnt mean for this to happen and that it was a genuine accident, but people gte hurt over things even if they know it wasnt meant to hurt them. shoulve said no is proof of this.

but they did send me a video of them reading the story together [cranberry and his friends, it was han who filmed (i did ask them to film their reaction)] and cranberry was cracking up as he read it! if he was mad he wouldve abandoned it. but they sill seemed to love it. surely if cranberry was mad at me, then that wouldnt have happened?

jesus christ, thats LONG. i apologize for troubling you, i didnt think itd get this long! its just been on my mind :( ironically it happened yesterday just after i was so happy. ugh. boys are awful

I love the drama dumps, I wish we could vent together for real because I have been ALL over the place with my drama lately 😅 but it’s fine, it adds the comedy. i’m watching my own life like a work of absurdism. I would absolutely recommend that strategy.

ch. 10 ramblings

My thoughts on Cody-Sierra, and how the writers and the fans treat them

1) Establish the Cody-Sierra parallel

I’ve been hinting at it for a while, and while obviously, yes, Cody is not as Bad as Sierra.... that doesn’t mean he’s a saint. He’s just less of a creep. They both ignore their object of affection’s rejections. It’s just Sierra goes overboard. And I find that really interesting for some reason. A lot of people say that during World Tour Cody should have used, nay, it was terrible writing and derailment that he DIDN’T use Sierra as character development to have him realize how creepy he was. And I’m guess I’m doing that here, tho I don’t quite agree with the statement that it was completely terrible writing. I hate to defend Fresh, but I find it very plausible that Cody would use Sierra as an excuse to defend his own actions. Oh I took pictures of Gwen sleeping? Well Sierra tickles my feet when I’m sleeping, so at least I’m not as bad as her.

Speaking of that comparison... I feel like that’s what the total drama fandom does with Cody. (Not specifically talking about the tumblr fandom, mostly the reddit fandom). When you bring up Cody’s misdeeds, it’s always “What about Sierra?” like bro 💀.

Also, I feel like there’s an element of ... racism to this. Not all from the audience, but also the writers. Cody is this small adorable white guy, and whenever he’s creepy we’re supposed to go “lmao pathetic,” and not take it seriously. But Sierra is this like... overgrown, super-strong black girl, with no table manners, out of touch with reality, sorta feral. Gets creepy music playing whenever she speaks. It feels... racist, like it rlly does. Add to it the fact that she’s basically “serving” Cody and doing whatever he wants, thinks he’s the ultimate human being that’s better than her. It’s just... really odd. I don’t know for sure how purposeful it was, but it’s rlly off in hindsight. That’s why in Ch.8 I made such a big deal about the annoying/aggressive cop. Not just because ACAB but also in a way to remark on Sierra’s own racist writing. Because it does bother me.

But back to Cody. In Ch.10 I played with the idea that he’s like... innocent. He’s not obviously, he just committed perjury. He has own motives and goals. But he’s better, he *looks* better. He looks like a defenseless young guy, a son. A little brother.

I always found it weird how Cody was written in Island. It’s like yeah he won’t leave this girl alone, yeah he keeps following her despite her requests, yeah he sniffs her hair randomly. But also he’s a really nice guy 🥺. And it’s not like I’m not doing the same in my fic, but I’m trying to take his actions a little more seriously.

I got into Total Drama when I was 20. Not when I was 13, not when I was a teenager. When I was 20 and had been on tumblr for years and had watched hour long video essays about misogny and the romanticization of stalking in media. So I always say Cody as kinda off, and I hate to say this but... Total Drama’s depiction of him definitely fits those videos. The joke is that Cody is rlly bad at flirting, that he’s pathetic. The focus is never on “wow that must be terrible for Gwen.” And this is so true, because at the end of Island when he does his heroic action and his quote unquote character development and sets up Gwen with Trent, he doesn’t apologize to Gwen. He never reflects on the fact that he was annoying and creepy. He just pats himself on the back for getting Trent and Gwen together.

And to my recollection, the way he got them together was ... letting Trent be on the boat with Gwen instead of him. Like wooow big sacrifice amirite? And even worse.. Trent would have been on that boat with Gwen from the BEGINNING if Cody hadn’t butted in. Literally his gift to Gwen is removing himself from her presence. Lmao. Like it was doing the thing he should have done since episode one. The normal thing. And I find it hard to be impressed, especially when it doesn’t feel like he changed as a Character.

Think about what would have happened if Trent wasn’t there? If Gwen just didn’t have a crush on anybody. Like... would Cody have stopped? No. Because he never saw himself as in the wrong. Cody saw his problem as not being “the one,” not being “the annoying creepy one.”

Anyway. We see that in ch.10 - even though Noah repeatedly told Cody to back the fuck off, Cody is not doing that. Cody’s still stuck in the mindset of “if you don’t succeed, try try again!” And so uhh. He needs to stop that and this will be explored more in the coming arc.

This just turned into a Cody diss track... lol. I like Cody. I find him intriguing. But anyway, this is why I wrote the talk with Trent, the attempt at poetry to bring Noah back, the whole thing about him looking cute and harmless and like a “son.”

[Read] Howie&Artie (~P326)

Okay. I haven't been writing review ahem, not review, just thoughts about books i read because at some point i felt like finishing it in one go, moving to another, and like... it's so addicting. i read that i'm in a kind of a honeymoon phase when it comes to reading. lots i read, easily entertained, found the joy in everything. so... and i don't mind that.

so when i read this top review about this one book on goodreads, which, is offensively annoying, honestly. i hate reading snobby reviews, <-which i am lowkey doing right now, what the fuck, reviewing another revies?! well, whatever. rage is all-consuming. thing is, it's this specific way of reviewing that bothers me to no end. snobby, pretentious, all superior. book is an entertainment, get off your high horses! a picture attached somehow making me frustated. and also do not finish because of the spice being fade to black I WAS LOOKING FOR A NON-SPICY BOOK HELLO??!?!?!? WHY DOES EVERY ROMANCE BOOK HAVE TO INCLUDE SPICE!!! WHY YOU'RE RATING IT BAD BECAUSE IT'S NOT... TRYING WHAT IT'S NOT MEANT TO BE?!?!! i do love me some spice but like... i don't know, leaving a 2/5 because what a book visioned doesn't align to what you expected it to be (becuase you wished for it to be something else) is. not everything meant to be spiced!!! some is just sweet and fluffy! and that is okay!!! spicy is okay too!! but not every single thing has to be one thing you want it to be!!! augh!!! idk. it irks me. not that i can't do anything about it.

ACTUALLY I CAN. I READ THIS ONE PURELY IN SPITE. BECAUSE OF THIS ONE REVIEW. screw you. i finished it too. I MADE A POST ABOUT IT IN MY TUMBLR TOO. and what i get? hella cute story. reminds me of reading a shoujo, slice-of-life esque manga. or a shounen manga with the protagonist doing part-time job in a supermarket and most of the time the story centers around the protagonist and his work. (eg. hataraku maou sama, it's NOT SIMILIAR AT ALL. just gave me similiar vibes). also the humor. I get it. i don't... i don't really stick with the humor too, mostly because there's a heckton of references about pop cultures and stuff which i don't... get. but when it hits, it hits. i laughed a lot.

(now i am reconsidering writing this because... the last one i wrote about two male-leads being cute is ari&dante and that's several months ago), but oh well. this is june!!! happy... june... month. i love romance books. UM. i hope no one irl knows my tumblr💀

HOWIE!!! this guy irks me at the beginning because of the typical lame-shounen protagonist kind of traits. oggling over girls (though he did felt wrong, but he still do oggle), kind of a loser that masks his worries in what it seems like an attempt of funny jokes. you're funny! sometimes!! howie. basically... he applied to work at this one craft store, because he wanted to get laid. and his reason is even more lame. he thought guys that deals with arts is more sensitive and that's why he would suddenly be a male alpha that oozes attracting forces. so he thought. he's dumb and endearing...

the other lead is ARTIE!!! cold and distant at first. typical, but it doesn't took long for him to open up. and by that i meant stealing kisses... um. even in mangas, this tropes irked me so bad. what happened to consent... and idk how it is in other places maybe it's romanticized to no end and maybe it's just how it goes in other countries. idk!! i'm brought up very conservatively, okay. i have a very limited view of how it's usually meant to be. and add to that being in a mostly... idk... the country i live in isn't... really??? forget it. ARTIE!!! a top-student, achieving, members of the? orchestra? club back in high school. one thing leads to another that he ended up being the one to take care of this craft store instead. the store itself isn't doing well, considering there's a cheaper, better, alternative like Holly's. about his character instead, i find it refreshing that he's not the usual i'm out you're not so you need to get your shit up if we want to be together ASAP. which is!!! totally fair to everyone! im just so used to it being one of the main conflicts and sort of, idk, maybe felt like it gave me some vibes of something along like coming out before they're ready...

the dialogues (which takes like 80% of the story) is honestly the life of the book itself. and even when it's not, it's told in 1st POV in Howie's. and he usually went into this tangent of basically everything so. and it's amusing! the characters are also lively, though maybe it's a bit, very... how do i say this. stereotypic-ish... like there's this one main traits. The main craftstore-cast is a solid A+! mostly because howie's opening up to others outside of his usual clique and mother is very, joyful to read. He himself getting to know more about himself, being more open, being more happy in general too. howie himself is tackling with some issues outside of his newfound love interest and work buddies. his twin brother, who's studying pre-med, high-achiever, had a girl visiting town. his mother, who's been in a slump for two years because his dad passed away in an accident who she blames herself for. and his friends, amber and mitch!!

relatively speaking the scale of drama in this fiction isn't that... all-stake big. like, although it deals with deceased dad (and partner), and maybe tackling some stuff like insecurity and inferiority... the side cast is so... SO... LIVELY!!! kristy is lovely and cute and honest. cora is a cool and confident and bold and all!!! arthur is cold and distant and rather quiet and stoic at first. howie talks like in this kind of bro-like vibes and very manly and the resident i like girls one. the dynamics!!! THE DYNAMICS!!! HELLO!!! the way kristy sets up the two and her (and howie) ((and cora)) pretending not to know it gets me everytime because who are we lying to here guys? attending cora's show, artie's piano performance... and there's this one. this one time it's so fluffy. when howie visited kristy's place one time. she told him someone told him cute... i... words cannot put it into justice. and i'm not good with words. i'm just reminiscing it in my head because it's so cute. CUTE. AGH I LOVE CUTE BOOKS....

it's all felt lighthearted to me. it's warm, and, fluffy. okay, maybe there's some pages with unnecessary narration like lengthy text... and unfunny jokes. but when being lighthearted is the main charm of this book (to me, anyway), there's times when it doesn't lands and it's okay. doesn't take the other time when it does things to me. and maybe precisely because it's lighthearted... it doesn't deal with a more grounded or realistic challenges other... more... idk. dramas usually tackle. it can be a dealbreaker to others, and it's fine.

i'm engrossed.

by the time we're reaching some, i don't know. resolution phase of the book, i cried. mostly things happened with howie's mom. i don't know why i cried easily when it comes to family stuff, i cried too when it happened in ari&dante, and eleanor oliphant, and leonard peacock. and i read this book because of the romance too. so... i'm just saying there's more to the story and it touches me. ultimately, i felt like howie's and artie's became less of a focus but more of a bigger part of... howie's journey in feeling happier as the time goes. and... !@#$?13$!#$#:#!FKEIUG2321$?#!?!!!! i'm weak.

i don't remember how to review a book. this is just another tangent. and i know, i said i'm pouring it out of spite. but i liked the book! it's fun for what it is. it can be cute and fluffy one page, unhinged tangent the next one, and then numbingly touching the other.

anyway. that's it!!! for my thoughts. i love it for what it is. happy june!!! here for a better month!!!

omg out of my current tumblr works, definitely open sesame! i think it’s probably closest to the type of writing i really enjoy (crack; unhinged crack to be specific AJJDKDKS) and no one rlly knows this but i actually wrote it as a bday gift for one of my best friends (it was orig a baekhyun/exo fic) so it’s quite sentimental to me???? also …… heeseung in a FUCKING robe. LIKE. PALMS SWEATY KNEES WEAK ARMS R HEAVY ITS AN IMAGE THAT IS BURNED INTO MY SOUL💀💀💀 but UH ANYWAY if we’re including every single fic i’ve ever written, published on tumblr or not, then my ultimate fave is a fic i wrote a year ago (just some romcom delinquent/bad boy au e2l fic about a girl who basically teams up w the bad boy to try get revenge on her stepfather and then they both get locked up in a youth detention centre LMAOO) 😭😭 im honestly just a really sentimental person so since it was the first writing piece i’d ever written from start to finish (plus i rlly like the comedy/crack in it HAHDHDHSJA), it’s defs my fave fave fave fave HEHEHHE
