I have this distinct memory of when we got DSTV (Satellite Dish company in Africa), and for my dad this meant watching BBC, CNN and Sky News, for my mom more soap operas and for my siblings Cartoon Network, but for me it meant music videos and at the time BET was a big deal, and the first video I saw was 3 6 Mafia's Who Run it. I remember thinking damn they got more members than the Wu, and I also remeber thinking these are some gothic brothers calling themselves 666 Mafia considering I am growing up in a very hyper religious conservative society where listening to a band called 3 6 Mafia would not bode well for you, but for me this was very anti-authoritarian. My relationship with these guys went even deeper when I listened to great solo projects by Project Pat or RIP Gangsta Boo. For Halloween that is all I think about are 3 6 Mafia records.
