im listenign to the gorillaz machine bitez and it's so fucking funny bc theyre so clearly high out of their mind. it's just murdoc making the weirdest sounds and offended comments and 2d rambling on and on. russell comes in every once in a while to ask questions and noodle is there to snark at murdoc or say something in japanese

like this is incredibly in character but. i have no idea what the fuck theyre saying half the time

my god the song machine bitez are so cute... i loved them having the guest artists speak to them. i wasn't paying attention during song machine's release so i missed all of the character stuff as it released and had to wait until i entered obsession mode again

okok casey help where should i start on gorillaz lore

is there gorillaz lore (i think there is?)

it looks really cool i just dont know where to begin

OKAY SO. i started by reading the wiki which has the basics of all 7 phases!

and then as i got more into it i watched this playlist which has interviews + music videos + extras up until machine bitez #17!

from there i watched the music video for the valley of the pagans, then the lost chord music video, which wraps up phase 6 (in the music videos at least). theres also the murdoc commentary on older music videos!

phase seven currently consists of the stuart potcast, cracker island MV, and the immersive skinny ape video, in terms of content. the full album is releasing february 24th of this year!

good luck getting into it !!! its very fun but there is So Much going on.

i like it... like the sound isn't the best but it manages to be appealing as both a gimmick series about collabs (ELTON JOHN????????) and a new piece of expansion on the characters that i don't even mind if some tracks are a little bland or don't sound gorillaz at all. the mvs themselves have minimal animation but it's still fun to watch there's always a little creative twist on them like valley of the pagan being on gta or the fucking robert smith moon that keeps it interesting

not to mention the machine bitez interviews i'm always down for more band-member interactions and it's especially funny watching artists act like they're not talking to fictional characters

ok. some observations about "the pink phantom" videoclip

2D IS GORGEOUS???? AND HE IS SOO HAPPY.

this clip is visually magnificent in every single way. I ABSOLUTELY loved it. the song machine's animations are getting better and better, and i'm living for it.

OK I think the next song will be focused on Russel and Noodle. AND. I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT.
