Analysis of Adrien - S5 up to Ep 9
I am loving Season 5 so far, and having caught up with all the latest episodes aired in France, I’m more excited than ever.
So, let’s talk about Cat’s behaviour in ‘Elation’. If you’re like me, you were near-screaming at the Marichat kiss - even more so when Cat broke it off, then Mari was akumatised, and then there was more kissy-kissy-meow-meow (my new favourite phrase in life). Their kiss was right out of ‘Amelie’, by the way – adorable. And against a backdrop of a Statue of Liberty, as if reminding us that they’re not yet free.
More than just teasing the audience, Cat’s response was so in character. As Adrien, in ‘Determination’ he told Kagami that he’d started seeing Marinette differently in ‘Puppeteer 2.0′. We can go back even further, to ‘Troublemaker’, where Marinette had her chance to confess her feelings but chickened out and claimed to be just a fan. In fact, every time Adrien says she’s ‘just a friend’, we can substitute this with ‘just a fan’. He’s not oblivious - he’s careful.
Because of Marinette’s explanation for the photos on her wall, Adrien didn’t take her feelings seriously (and, I mean, how surreal must it be to have a friend with a fangirl crush on you?). This is evidenced in ‘Puppeteer 2.0′ when they’re in the car on the way to the museum and he tells Manon that they’re just friends. But it’s clear that his feelings are all mixed up, because he then worries deeply about Marinette possibly not liking him. Then he poses as a statue and she kisses him - and he jumps away.
At the time, we weren’t told why he reacted this way. We never got to see his thoughts when he lay in bed that night, no doubt running it over in his mind again. But we did see a future timestream in ‘Cat Blanc’ where the moment Adrien learned Marinette loved him, he was deliriously happy and told her he’d always felt there was something more than just friendship between them and now he finally knew why. We also saw him stare at her with her hair down and call her beautiful, in ‘Heart Hunter’. Then Kagami pushed herself on him and Mari was suddenly with Luka, and Adrien had no time to sort out his feelings. When Kagami kissed him, he was confused and said he wasn’t ready. He then took a step back from the girls while he tried to sort through his Ladybug problems, which shifted in ‘Glaciator 2.0′ - and the moment he began to evolve for the better was when he listened to Marinette’s love confession for Adrien. It was clear on his face that he was seeing her with new eyes.
By the time we reach ‘Determination’, his admission to Kagami tells us he has loved Marinette a long time but been waiting for her to give some indication that she feels the same, so he can clarify those feelings in his heart. I’ve said before: he’s a celebrity, used to being chased down by fans and receiving declarations of love from plenty of people who don’t know him. As long as he thought Mari was ‘just a fan’, he couldn’t allow himself to open his heart to it being more. But it’s all reached a point where he can’t hide it anymore.
As an aside, I loved the line Kagami gave him about needing to look in a mirror and figure himself out...because ‘kagami’ is Japanese for ‘mirror’.
I also loved the parallel of ‘Determination’ with ‘Frozer’, with Luka and Kagami there again, now pushing a different relationship.
Getting back to Adrien: I think that kiss in ‘Puppeteer 2.0′ was nearly what he needed to see Marinette as a love interest - but she dodged it again. It was almost the permission he needed to think of her as more than ‘just a fan’. He pushed her away because he liked it but needed to sort out his feelings...and, more importantly, because he knew he was tricking her and felt he was taking advantage of her.
Let’s jump back to ‘Elation’, when Cat kisses Marinette and then pulls away, yet again. His reasoning is that he’s behind a mask - he knows who she is but she doesn’t know who he is, and he doesn’t want to take advantage of her. He wants to kiss her but doesn’t want to steal that kiss. It has to be fair, honest and open. She just told him she no longer loves Adrien, so he has to be thinking if she knew it was him, she might not want him kissing her. He did the right thing.
When he says she doesn’t know who he is, again this is all about the idea of fandom. From his perspective, she’s just told him over and over and over again, ‘I’m a super, super fan.’ It’s no accident that earlier in the episode, Adrien was shown running from crowds of fans both as himself and as Cat, and getting infuriated by it. In both guises, he’s a celebrity. He wants someone to love him for him, and Marinette once again made herself ‘just a fan’ in his eyes. Of course he can’t pursue that.
The painful irony is that he has no way of knowing that the whole reason she now loves him as Cat Noir is exactly because she’s finally seeing him for who he truly is. She knows him better than he realises. But how to reveal that without sharing her identity? Alya was right - this stuff can’t work unless they can be wholly honest with each other. I maintain that Ladybug needs to tell Cat about Cat Blanc, if they’re ever going to move forward.
His face, though, when Andre just flat out told him Marinette had been in love with Adrien all that time.... All these years waiting for her to get those words out, and they were finally dropped so simply. This house got LOUD, over that one! You just know Adrien spent the whole night looking back over every single crazy exchange with her, reframing all of it and thinking, ‘Oh my god, is that what was going on!?’ And Marinette doesn’t even know this is in his mind. Now we have Adrien knowing things about her that she doesn’t know he knows, just like she knows about Cat Blanc. Like...what can I even say??
Amazing.

I'm really surprised at how many people are taking away from Derision that the thing that ruined Marinette was Kim's prank. Because it wasn't about Kim - it was about Chloe.
The reason why we have so much flashback in this episode is to show that Chloe was making Marinette's life hell every day. Marinette is afraid to go to school because of Chloe. Marinette is nervous to open her locker because of Chloe. Marinette is late to class and gets in trouble because of Chloe, because Chloe is relentlessly harassing her.
This isn't even just implied. There's a whole conversation in which we see that many people like Marinette and she has friends she sits with at lunch because the cafeteria is the one place that Chloe isn't ruining her life, and Chloe immediately shows up and tells Marinette that the last safe space she has in the school isn't going to be safe anymore.
Then Chloe proves that she's right! She manipulated Kim to mess with Marinette outside of school, and Chloe is right there to take a picture. That's the point. That's why Marinette says that "above all I'll make sure they aren't friends with Chloe". She knows exactly what's happening because it's been happening to Marinette for years. Chloe chose Marinette as her favorite person to bully and did not let up on her for multiple years, and by the end of the last year of middle school it had reached the point that Marinette couldn't even count on her life outside of class to not be under Chloe's attack.
It's not paranoia either! Chloe has gotten people fired! Chloe worked specifically to give Marinette a reputation at the school of being a bad kid - one who doesn't come to class on time, who is clowning around and taking up everyone's attention, who is consistently blaming Chloe for all her problems as consistently as Chloe as bullying her. Socqueline is literally expelled for standing up to Chloe, which means every time they've threatened to expel Marinette for the same she's right to be afraid!
As an adult who has worked in the school system, this is painfully real. I saw so many kids who would consistently get in trouble despite the fact that they were the ones being bullied. It happened to me when I was a kid in middle school and high school because I was the weird kid with ADHD who couldn't sit still. It doesn't take much for a kid to get a reputation, and for teachers to spread around and share that some kids shouldn't ever be believed or listened to.
The episode explains that Marinette knows the system will not help her. Marinette has reached out for help and been called a liar for years. She's looked to her fellow students for help and found them all silent. She has been attacked by people with wealth and power because they don't think she's high class enough to be in their presence.
Why do people believe Lila? Why do people ignore Marinette? Why is she consistently paranoid about being hurt, about thinking other people are trying to deceive her? Why is Marinette terrified of relying on anyone other than herself?
Because Chloe bullied her for years, destroyed her school career, and convinced her first crush to pretend to be into her as a joke just so they could post it on social media. And that whole time, there was one person who stood up for her, and it ended with that person being expelled from school.
Trauma isn't always just one incident. Sometimes it's years of a pattern of behavior that informs the way you see the world, and it makes the people around you think that you're crazy and paranoid and that you're always seeing dangers that aren't there.
If you want to hate on the show or hate on Marinette, fine, but don't belittle how much this sucks. This is a real thing that real kids experience all the time. This is what bullying actually looks like, the consistent neverending drip of misery that convinces people that safety is an impossible dream.
It wasn't one bad proposal. It was a pattern of systemic abuse and neglect for years.

The Miraculous Fandom really seems to lack imagination.
I found a video essay calling Lila aimless as a villain but like… maybe they’re going to reveal what her game in Season 6 will be.
Maybe she wants the world kissing her foot?
Maybe she wants to stop living lies and have the perfect life.
Maybe she wants all her lies to be true and have an extraordinary life?
Dunno but it’s fun to speculate.
And I refer to CinemaSins because a common facet of their “critiques” are just questioning things that either are on a need to know basis exposition wise orrrrrr didn’t need much explanation aside from, say, magic exists.
There’s also an unwillingness to look at something for what it is and analyze it appropriately but rather lambast it for something it isn’t.
So many are hung up on being blue balled by a Chloe’s would’ve been redemption arc yet and deeper look into her doubling down on being nasty as well as how she’s an example of some people choosing not to be helped or sabotaging her efforts to turn herself around.
How she demonstrates the banality of evil and, while not super riveting, is a story that feeds into the themes of the masks we wear and what persona we put on.
Adrien wasn’t there to see Gabriel off but how might that serve the story in Season 6 since Lila knows how his father truly died yet so many act like the show’s over. Frankly, they were very economical with this story and made a good call to not overload the Season 5 finale's storyline with something so loaded like Adrien learning true origins.
Imagine how Season 6 and 7 may contend with this, especially when Lila likely knows. She couldn't have asked for a better weapon against Ladybug. And Marinette will have the truth weighing on her mind in lying not just to Chat Noir but also Adrien.
So many claim that the story and plot never process but Season 4 and five have virtually no filler with at least ONE episode having something going on that affects the wider tapestry of the slowburn story.
For god’s sake, guys, can we balance what we what with what the show chooses for itself? People are still uppity about Migration despite Luka coming back under Su-Han’s tutalege. Him knowing how to ward off Akumas sure will come in handy.

I love miraculous but I think a massive misstep for the show was to barely have the unit of ladybug, chat noir, rena rogue, carapace and queen bee work together. I love the season 2 finale because I think they worked so well together as a unit! Rena and carapace’s banter, chloe being snarky, carapace having chat noir’s back etc. it was so great. Sadly it wasn’t even in heroes day that much because they got akumatised pretty quickly. When I saw it again in miraculer (one of my fave eps) I was so glad they were continuing with it!! (Chloe’s writing in that ep was also rlly good). I wish they kept the group going rather than giving everyone in the class a miraculous (although I did end up liking this more than I thought I would and how it fleshes out the class more). Maybe if Thomas Astruc didn’t hate Chloe :/ (why would u start writing a redemption arc for a character and then stop halfway through like???). But yeah. I wish they had lots more interactions as heroes 😭 at least in season 5 we’ve had mari, adrien, alya and nino hang out again.

Explaining the Bunnyx Time Loop
I left too many comments on @alteanroyals post trying to explain this when I should’ve probably reblogged it (sorry), so I’m making a post from scratch.
It’s hard to wrap your head around why there are two watches in Paris at one time and where this watch even goes, so here’s a comprehensive timeline from the watch’s perspective that hopefully explains its path:
The ancient guardians from the temple forge the miraculous and bind the kwamis to them to make the mother box. This is when the watch is first made.
It exists for centuries, and potentially has had holders other than Bunnyx.
The events of Fu’s Feast flashback happen, Fu grabs the box, rabbit included, and runs
He ends up as its guardian until Miracle Queen
Marinette is the new guardian. She keeps the watch hidden in her room
Flairmidable steals Ladybug’s yo-yo. Gabriel accepts the yo-yo and ring in exchange for the peacock, so he steals all the miraculous that were in there, rabbit included
Monarch uses the watch in Evolution and starts time traveling. Future Bunnyx shows up, but gets Venomed, so Chat Noir uses her watch temporarily, which he gives back to her when she’s unfrozen.
Little Alix gets the rabbit back from Monarch and uses it in Evolution. Then, she goes on her little adventure with her future self to prevent him from using the dog to steal Fluff back. She’ll come back when it’s safe, and I don’t think it’ll actually take as long as people are worried about it taking.
Little Alix grows up, hopefully normally and happily, and eventually becomes adult Alix. Ladybug has her whole team of superheroes and they all fight new villains together (not Gabriel)
In one of these fights, adult Chat Noir breaks adult Bunnyx’s watch on accident
She goes back to the s3 episode Timetagger and asks to borrow little Alix’s watch. Hold on, this will make sense further on. Adult Bunnyx defeats the time traveling villain from her time with the help of mini bug and kitten noir, although this involves her going way back and sitting in a coffin for a morbillion years until Timetagger minibug wakes her up. Next time you watch any episode before this one where the kids are in the Egyptian wing of the Louvre just remember that she’s secretly napping in there. After they beat him, she holds on to the watch she took from her past self and goes back to the future.
Adult Alix uses this watch to transform into Bunnyx from here on out. She grows even older, living out pretty much the rest of her long, long, hopefully happy life which is probably supernaturally long due to miraculous use pausing aging (like Fu is pushing 200 rn)
Elderly Alix makes one last trip to the distant past, I think Victorian times.
According to Astruc Twitter, she begins to foster or adopt a bunch of kids, which sounds like a play on rabbits having a ton of kids, except she’s aro so she’s an adoptive single parent. One of these kids is her biological ancestor. She gives her watch to this kid and tells them to pass it along as a family heirloom.
Elderly Alix inevitably dies in the late 1800s or early 1900s *screaming and crying*
The ancestor has kids who have kids who have kids until Alim Kubdel is born. He receives the watch as a gift when he comes of age.
Alim maybe? Gets married? Somehow he acquires two biological children. It’s possible there was a second parent who died or they’re still around and have just never been shown, but who knows. Hopefully they give us this info eventually. Jalil Kubdel is born.
Alix is born around the early 2000s
She turns 15 in the s1 episode Timebreaker. Alim takes her to dinner at the hotel and gives her the watch.
It breaks during the race and she gets akumatized over it. LB and CN defeat her, and miraculous cure fixes the watch, I guess because it was directly related to the akumatization.
Alix swears to take better care of it. In one of the little YouTube webisodes from s3 times, Marinette considers making her an armband so she can safely hold onto it while doing something athletic. Alix keeps the watch safe until Timetagger shows up, and future Alix asks to take the watch.
Alix hangs out for like all of s4 waiting for when Ladybug will finally need her.
As I said before, Monarch steals the miraculous from the mother box in Strike Back and uses the rabbit among others in Evolution. Ladybug gives Alix the dog she borrowed from Fu from the ~1940s. Canigirl steals the watch back and unifies to go back. She finally becomes Bunnyx, and Ladybug tells her to keep the watch. She gives past Fu the dog back, and returns to the time right after Strike Back to say bye to her dad before going into the burrow with her future self to wait out the storm.
And now this story starts repeating
I hope this helps people wrap their heads around the story. Please let me know if you’re still confused about something! I’m good at understanding convoluted time travel stories so I hope I’m okay at explaining them. The timeline is sort of lollipop-shaped, and the confusing “two watches” enigma is caused by the bootstrap paradox time loop Alix creates. She may be or may not be the first full-time rabbit hero, but she is the last. The rest of this post is just me thinking out loud.
Remaining Questions
Some of my remaining questions are about adult Alix’s miraculous being broken. In The Collector, Gabriel can fully repair a damaged peacock using a recipe from the book, but that one was just cracked. Timetagger said that Chat cataclysmed the watch which implies there was pretty much nothing left of it. Reduced to atoms.
Why didn’t the miraculous cure bring it back like in Timebreaker? Because the damage wasn’t related to the villain at hand? Also, what happens to Fluff when her miraculous is destroyed? Does she die, or is she released into her imperceptible god form because the bond binding her to it is broken?
Is Fluff’s perception of time linear like a human’s, or does she have time god powers that let her know everything? She’s so confused all the time lol, but is it because she has to go through this timeline in real time like us or because she can’t tell which timeline is which?
I also wonder at what point the team disbands. When Alix is a young adult, they’re still friends working together, but when she’s very old, she’s comfortable leaving that whole life behind. Do they drift apart once they recover the butterfly miraculous once and for all and there are no more super threats in Paris? Are they friends for a long time regardless and naturally drift apart over time? Are they friends forever, but Alix outlives most of them? That’s sad so I’ll stop here.

Bruce:" I am not collecting children! They find me!"
Flash:"Yeah, right. Don't believe you."
Bruce: "What do you think? I put my arms out, and a new child falls into my arms to adopt!"
To show case it,
Bruce stretched out his arms only for two babies to land in his arms. With a name tag on them. Daniel and Marinette.
Bruce:" This doesn't prove anything."
+
Bruce is on speaking terms with their families. As the meta-babies most often teleported, Maddie and Jack met Sabine and Tom. And now they talk at least once a week, as Bruce and family is kind of part of it too.

it’s nothing it’s nothing… I JUST THINK IT’S FUNNY HOW while the peacock miraculous was broken gabriel didn’t touch it and despite expressing guilt about nathalie falling ill he still let HER be the one to use it whenever the peacock’s power was ‘needed’ for gabe’s plan that day. he never once offered to wear it in her place.
but the second the miraculous gets fixed? oh no nathalie is no longer necessary, turns out gabriel CAN wear the peacock miraculous now and he’s going to use it for the rest of the season in conjunction with the butterfly miraculous to make himself stronger.
and this is NOT salt, i actually love that this specific writing choice just further proves something about gabriel’s character; he may feel guilty about it afterward, but he will not hesitate to put his loved ones in harm’s way for his own personal gain.

alright unless proven otherwise, i'm going to hc that toxinelle's crush is actually griffe noire
Tumblr media
or a “crush who doesn’t think I’m a lame-o”! credits to @2manyfandoms2count for the translation
it's unfortunate... but hear me out
Tumblr media
the salters always say that the lovesquare is toxic codependency, imma show you what real toxic codependency really is, on the part of emonette at least
Tumblr media
'he's rude as fuck and disrespects her all the time, there's no way emonette would fall for him' while this is true and i would agree under normal circumstances, toxinelle came from a world where she didn't have anyone, no super awesome friends to inspire her everyday, no best friend in life and in death, no mum who is gentle and calm, nothing. she's lonely and has nothing to fall back on, but you know who she can fall back on? griffe noire
Tumblr media
even if he does let her fall
he is the only constant she has in her life, at least ever since she got her miraculous. even if it means getting insulted left and right by him, she puts up with him
why? cause if she doesn't she'll truly lose the only thing she has 'going' in her life
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and we can see that after she read marinette’s diary about the part where ladybug and chat noir are partners or rather teammates, she looks at griffe noire, as though she’s thinking of being teammates with him. it’s something she wants, and we know it’s something she truly wants by the end of the special
Tumblr media
also in this universe, emodrien has a crush on emonette, so what's preventing toxinelle to have a crush on griffe noire?
toxinelle isn’t happy, we can tell when she poured her heart out to ladyfly about everything and then finally about her crush thinking she’s lame all the time, but there isn’t much she can do if she wants her constant to continue be by her side
loneliness really does some fucked up things to a person huh?
the concept’s pretty fitting of a villain don’t you think? 🥲

'Perfect' White
We can't have failed to notice that in S5 Gabriel has gone all white...like Cat Blanc. So my wheels got spinning and here I am, exploring the symbolism of this 'colour'.
Many viewers will link white to ideas of innocence, cleanliness or peace. Maybe even holiness - think angels. We've even seen Adrien wearing angel wings, in 'Simpleman'.
I once read an excellent analysis, I forget by whom, suggesting that Adrien is often in white to show that he's a blank slate, waiting to be written on. We even get the word 'blank' from the Latin root of the French 'blanc', meaning white. Taking this further, we could see it as Adrien not yet being certain of his own identity.
White is also linked with virginity - think of the Western European wedding dress colour. Applying this symbolically, Adrien begins the story inexperienced and naive, kept ignorant of the ways of the world. He also takes things at face value. But this is definitely changing.
I see irony, as well, because the angelic public image of Adrien hides his 'darker' thoughts and impulses. White is often linked to simplicity, and Adrien is perhaps most fascinating for being so much more complicated than anyone in his life believes.
We could also see virginity as not being 'used' yet, and this is ironic too because Adrien is used left and right, by both his father and by Ladybug.
And of course white is honesty. Nothing has been hidden. Adrien is typically the most honest one on the show and the most open with his feelings. An interesting fact I didn't know before some quick research today is that in ancient Rome, public officials wore white, and their robes were called 'candidus', which gives us the word 'candidate' but also 'candid' meaning honest and frank (because politicians never lie...???). We'll come back to this later.
White also indicates being innocent of sins or crimes. It tells us Adrien is a victim.
So why is Gabriel all in white?
Tumblr media
Let's start with the obvious. Scientifically, white is both the source and absence of all colour.
On the one hand, we could see Gabriel in white as him trying to swallow up everything else - think of how colourful the kwamis are, and the way Gabriel tries to consume his son.
Or we could see it as his coldness. Think of the Hans Christian Andersen's Snow Queen, adapted as Elsa in 'Frozen' - or 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'. White is ice. We also saw this with Cat Blanc - we all talk about his 'ice-blue eyes' in fan fics.
But Gabriel's white could also be the antithesis of Cat Noir - white versus black. Gabriel is trapped in s state of mind that Adrien is gradually leaving behind.
Another thing I didn't know is that author Robert Graves tied white with the moon goddess, who in mythology is usually said to have three faces, standing for the stages of life - childhood (waxing), motherhood (the full moon), and old age (waning). I think Gabriel's powers are beginning to wane. And although it's a stretch to say the writers of Miraculous had Graves in mind, there is so much moon symbolism tied into the show that I thought this was interesting to think on nonetheless.
Getting heavier, let's travel around the world to places like China, where white is the colour of mourning and worn at funerals. This makes white the colour of sadness, which ties up with Cat Blanc's months of grief and loneliness - but also Gabriel, who literally lives in a mausoleum for his wife and refuses to let go. Suddenly dressing all in white tells us he's gone all in. This is endgame. He's totally embodying his grief. And with white being tied to the end of life, it's a sign that the end of this particular story is nigh.
Now let's remember the old saying that 'Death rides a pale horse'. This comes from the depiction of the Apocalypse found in The Book of Revelation, at the end of the Bible. In fact, in Celtic tradition, if you see a pure white animal (especially if it has red ears), it's supernatural and not to be trusted. White is otherworldly and unnatural - about as unnatural as Gabriel making banana pancakes, amiright?
Gabriel is also straddling life and death. He's been cataclysmed and is now rotting away before our eyes. He's on that pale horse and has nothing left to lose.
There’s also a suggestion of the unknown - going back to that idea of being a blank slate, Gabriel is a wild card here. When someone like that gets truly desperate, we can no longer predict what he will do. Forcing a cataclysm on himself was definitely the start of this.
Coming back to the notion of honesty - we could apply this ironically to Gabriel, who, in his new white suit, recently shook hands with Nino, as if they were partners working against a common enemy.
On that note, let's look again at the Latin 'candidus'. This was considered the brightest shade of white, and it gives us the word 'candle'. So, white can be illuminating. We can see this as Adrien heading towards understanding, revelation. Gabriel is posing in the colour of honesty and innocence, but Adrien is soon to see through the pancakes.
On the other hand, Gabriel is slipping into a state of ignorance. He has never gained anything from all this power because he no longer understands love. He claims to do all this for Emilie, but it's gone far, far beyond that goal. He has reached the point of seeking power for power's sake.
He could learn a few lessons from Adrien, who reprised his Cat Blanc costume in 'Jubilation', this time worn as a wedding suit. It stands out because in European-style weddings the bride wears white but not the groom. The dream was a vision of grief and heartache being transmutated into something pure and beautiful - and of new starts. The slate had been wiped clean, ready for a new story to be written.
This leads me to think of the levels of karate. A lot of people don't realise that after the black belt, there's a higher level - the white belt. It's a sign of humility. Returning to the beginning shows an understanding that we never truly master anything. We're always learning. So Adrien moving from white (Alliance and other ads) to black (Cat Noir) to white again (the wedding vision) tells us he's completed one journey and is now applying the lessons he's learned to his next journey in life.
Of course, it was only a dream because he's not there yet. He needs to learn and deal with the truth about his father first. But all of this is coming.
Because white is the light at the end of the tunnel. As much as my son likes to say the Netflix show tags should now be 'grief', 'child abuse' and 'trauma', I truly see hope in every scene. White wipes the slate clean. Our favourite couple are so close to not a happy ending but a happy new beginning.

i think it's so funny that i've seen a million posts about what a horrible father gabe is for manipulating adrien, and not a single post about what a hilarious little bitch boy he is because he's only pretending to be a good dad so nathalie won't murder him
gabe has ZERO thoughts or care for adrien's mental health. it's just that if he doesn't fake being a good dad his secretary is gonna break his kneecaps

Season 6 onwards should have Ladybug-lite episodes.
The term is inspired from how Doctor Who would have modern seasons where an episode would be written to keep the titular Doctor or their companion out of an episode in order to help with filming two episodes at a time. Often due to tight turnarounds at the time.
Though done to save time, the episodes worked wonders because it would take either protagonist out of their comfort zones and show them operate with the others. This resulted is some memorable episodes like “Blink” and “Turn Left.”
Though in Ladybug’s case, we see that each bearer from before is now permanent on the whole. They can act on their own accord if an Akuma attacks before them or if something going wrong in their neighborhood. As such, Ladybug might appeal to say bye bye to the butterfly, it doesn’t got to center around Marinette or Adrien strictly speaking.
I feel this would be a perfect evolution of the show to keep more fresh and be an evolution of the Queen Mayor arc where Ladybug saw that even she and Chat can only do so much. While I like that the secondary cast keeps consistent than so give it credit for, I feel like letting them take center stage would be appropriate this time around.

Ok more miraculous thoughts. Does anyone kinda dislike the way they changed Nino’s character? I feel like with the change of his voice actor his character started acting more….. annoying. (Absolutely no hate to Zeno Robinson! I love him as Hunter and I love how much he cares about his roles and engages with the fandom.) But I’m just not sure if he fits Nino? Nino in Season 1-3 was sweet and kinda earnest, he was a bit more nerdy I also feel? And I really liked how his character stood out in eps like Anansi. But since season 4 the voice acting gives more of an impression of a cool try-hard character I think? Idk I just don’t think it fits. Also the way he acted in Rocketear was so ?!?! He feels more like he just shows up to cause problems now instead of being a member of the friend group.
Also I wish he was carapace longer so him and chat noir could have a cute friendship to mirror nino and adrien’s broship.

What so many of you fail to consider is that for Marinette, being Ladybug is crucial enrichment. If you don't throw an Akuma into her enclosure (the city of Paris) every now and then, she will develop behavioural issues and go insane from boredom. On the other hand, whenever that does happen, giving her an Akuma usually calms her right down. It's like a dog toy, or a laser pointer for a cat.
This is a fairly common thread through most episodes. At the start, Marinette has a problem, often involving Adrien, and she goes completely insane over it, trying to find solutions that are just buck wild. And usually, an Akuma appears, Marinette focuses all her mind on that for a while, and then realises that she went too far and calms down, because now her brain has been sufficiently stimulated and she burned off her excess energy.
Yes, defeating Akumas is stressful for her, no doubt, but I think it's even more clear that not doing that is causing far more stress behaviours to appear in her. She is an excellent guardian and strategizer, great at analysing situations and coming up with plans, and if you don't give her a proper outlet for that, she will come up with her own, often with humorously disastrous results.
So the (admittedly few) posts saying that Marinette shouldn't be Ladybug, or deserves to retire, are getting it all backwards in my opinion. If you retire her, you'll have to give her something else to do. Otherwise, the next time they're in the supermarket, she will build a weird contraption out of a shopping cart, canned beans and a quizz magazine to parkour to the top shelf, instead of asking Adrien for help.
So be a bit more careful with how you treat Marinette. If you force her to sit still, she will not thank you.

Hey Miraculous fandom, did anyone ever write a fic called “The Cat’s Out of the Closet”? Because I feel one of us queer writers should have written that.

i love how adrien tries to put marinette at ease by letting her know that he’s also still getting used to their relationship, and that he has his own worries. it shows her that she doesn’t have to be alone while navigating her feelings.

and then, when she pulls her hand away and apologises, he’s caring and patient. he doesn’t try and rush her into doing anything, he doesn’t dismiss the trauma she’s developed from people (namely chloé) bullying her in the past. he’s more than happy to wait until they both feel ready to be more affectionate with each other. and having that mutual trust and respect is a very important part of any relationship
