low key i think to deny Riko's trauma is to deny his narrative importance in the story.

like Riko's trauma related to his father parallels neil's. His concept of brotherhood adds complexity to Andrew and Aaron's relationship. He acts not just as an antagonist but as a foil to other character's relationship to trauma and violence.

to solely view riko through the lense of his actions is to miss the point. He is a character in a story, not a real breathing human being.

I'm going back to the blue Exorcist fandom because a new season has come out and honestly i'm already tired of the fandom. All of Yukio's hate is produced more out of "he's mean to Rin😭😔" than any other personal reasons. Fuck off from him, he tried to commit suicide three times. He's 16 for fucks sake.

he is not a universal evil, he is not a bad person, he is just a teenage boy who is traumatized and broken. and there's no shit "but rin—" no, no rin anymore. For Yukio, this has always been a big trigger, he needs his own personal comfort and not the throwing of his brothers in his face.

And that's OKAY. just because Rin loves him doesn't mean that Yukio feels loved. It's terrible to blame people for like "you cant see how I love you, you ungrateful shit". Yukio had a purpose in life that was built to copy his father and his goals, Yukio lost everything when he found out the truth and his moral compass went astray. He is in terrible confusion, in fear and misunderstanding, he cannot explain his feelings and deal with them himself, he feels absolutely alone. his fake identity is starting to crack at the seams and it's physically painful because this "mask" has grown into his skin. even if he is surrounded by people who can help him, he does not see it, he does not feel safe and understands that he will not be understood at the level he wanted.

Seriously, he could have done a ton of shit and I'm still going to defend him because he's acting like this not because he's just an asshole, but because he's in pain and we all get angry when it hurts. especially if it hurts all the time. especially if you're tired, but you can't sleep it off because it's not your body that's tired. It's your soul.

hear me out:

instead of being trained in exy, mary convinces the moriyama that they could use nathaniel as a foothold in the music industry. instead of little league, nathaniel wesinisnski gets music and singing lessons

when he turns 15 the moriyama as change his name to neil josten to avoid any ties with the butcher and he releases his debut album. he goes to high school near edgar allen, and was introduced to kevin + riko a while ago and is decent friends with them.

by the time fearless comes out, he is enrolled in edgar allen for music. riko gets more possessive and toxic once an official ravens member, and neil tries to cling on to kevin to escape.

neil meets andrew in his speak now era. riko had dragged him to the first fall banquet as his date, and when neil finally slipped away from the crowds he found andrew minyard. when neil introduces himself, andrew sarcastically says, “enchanted.” as they talk more (not at all bc andrew thought the blue eyed red haired singer was interesting, no) neil jokes that he’ll write a song about andrew so popular he’ll never be able to escape it. when speak now comes out, andrew swore he wouldn’t listen to it but he say a song titled enchanted and his stomach twisted. listening to the song was like a punch in the gut, and neil got the last laugh because the song did in fact haunt him (get the pun?)

after neil’s growing popularity ichirou is getting interested in neil and red is the fall out of that

1989 is neil dealing with riko breaking kevin’s arm and kevin leaving neil behind to go to the foxes. (this album is so them coded, all you had to do was stay, now that we don’t talk, i know places, is it over now, say don’t go)

reputation is after a shitshow. the foxes beat the ravens, riko is dead, and it was revealed to the public who neil’s father is, mb bc he got kidnapped or something. he reconnects with kevin, and by proxy andrew. they fall in love and reputation is born, the rest is history.

I DO my idea is that its around the same age kevin and riko met in canon so tetsuji kicks the bucket when riko is 7/8 and riko is (very forcibly) removed from the nest and sidelined to kayleigh as a new moriyama asset from the main branch takes over the nest. riko struggles a lot with the change because he is very young and very scared and he’s used to horrible things at tetsuji’s hand, which means that he doesn’t trust kayleigh and finds kevin entirely too weird. it’s honestly really cute because i think at this point obviously 7 year old kevin wants to befriend him but riko is such an anxious ball of anger that most of their interactions are like

baby riko: what do you WANT from me. go AWAY!!!! NOW

baby kevin: (heavy irish accent) nothing i think. do you want a bite of my sandwich?

anyway i think riko and kayleigh do get along but he never really considers her his mother or even godmother, for a long time he thinks of her as his Benefactor until the child therapy starts hitting and she becomes Aunt Kayleigh and then after a few more years he can be loosely convinced to refer to her as auntie once or twice a year. his second son syndrome never really leaves him; in the upcoming years riko struggles with the idea that he’s anything But an add-on to the days and still overworks himself to death trying to be acknowledged by kengo, but it’s leaps better just from being outside the nest and having people to look out for him

riko and kevin have some rough patches, especially during riko’s first years with the days. because kevin is an easy target and riko is afraid of kayleigh he ends up letting a lot of that anger out on kevin, though obviously at this point they are children and riko’s anger manifests in some mild bullying and name calling. i think kevin doesn’t even understand it most of the time 😭 riko has been around grown ups his entire life so his adult level insults make no sense to kevin’s seven year old mind. nevertheless after kayleigh tells him to stop picking on kevin riko does respect it (first out of fear, then later because they actually get along) and they go on to become brothers with only a slight tendency towards antagonism. riko’s jealousy of kevin is still a big part of their relationship and i think even more so when college applications roll around, and he’s even more worried when wymack comes into the picture, but it never culminates into anything as horrible as hand breaking because riko has an actual outlet and a support system :) it’s mostly a yelling match that eventually turns to getting scolded by kayleigh for acting like barbarians

#i know kayleighs sermons go hard kevin and riko are sitting there head bowed like yes maam….. #i havent yet decided where they both go to college in this au #but i think for one that the nest still exists and jean still gets sold to the moriyamas but it’s the main branch now #however without riko there jean’s experience in the nest is. Cody and Cameron don't exist, they are only names in a list.

But FOR ME they also:

•Were known as "The Winter Blizzard" in high school.

•Used to dye a part of their hair white, Cody still does it.

•Had a very united family, people think their parents are separated and that they lived a Parent Trap situation bcs they are so different but their parents love eachother and their children and are just normal nice people that MAYBE work to much.

•Cody is the youngest (even if they are twins, I'm not discarding that posibility) and tried to contact his brother but never received an answer (Tetsuji and the other coaches intercepted the letters and burned them) so he's mad that Cameron didn't ever reply and Cameron thinks that Cody liked his new friends and new life without him better.

•They are not grumpy/sunshine coded, they are goth/jock coded but as they grew up together they share a lot of interests and some little details from their style.

•They smoke pot, Cameron had to quit because in the Nest he had bad trips and they made practices even worse.

•Don't really love exy, it was the only chance they had to go to college and maybe help a little to raise the economics of the family. Cameron only wanted to go pro because of the Ravens, but is one of those things you principally say to blend in and then start believing a little.

•Both are pan but neither of them are persuing relationships at the moment. Cody is on and off with some of his teammates but is mainly a fwb situation and Cameron still thinks about a person from his past (that he knows he has to forget bcs its an outsider and the Master won't approve).

•Cameron tried to stay clear from Riko so he almost never played in the same team as him when the Ravens practiced.

•Cody is one of Jeremy's closest teammates that are not his friends.

•Cameron wanted to study marine biology (whales specifically) but was doing an irrelevant minor bcs they forced him to. Cody studies a lot (he was never as good as his brother in school) and is doing a mayor in law and a minor in art.

•If they are twins they are both in third year, if they are not, maybe Cameron is in 4th year and Cody in second.

•Cameron doesn't necessarily hate Jean or Kevin but he will glare at them if he sees them and maybe be a little rougher than needed in court.

The boys ran around the room, running away from each other and from time to time throwing pillows at each other, which they later tried to return as soon as possible. There were bedspreads and various things on the floor of the room that had been accidentally touched during the game. The beds were also in disarray: while the guys jumped on them from time to time, all the sheets had moved off and were now half lying on the floor. the room burst into childish laughter when Nat hit Jean with a pillow, now all four of them were lying on the floor and laughing, while breathing heavily.

"Shhh," whispered the boy with black hair, rolling over on his stomach and resting his elbows on the floor. - "uncle should be here soon!" - The laughter stopped abruptly and the children began to listen for footsteps. When they were sure they were safe, they exhaled and sat down in a circle, tucking their legs under them. Happy smiles spread across the faces of the three. But not Jean's. Noticing this, Nat nudged Jean with his shoulder, drawing attention to himself.

The Frenchman had joined their team not so long ago, but Nathaniel was glad that he now had such an amazing partner. Kevin and Rico were his best friends, but they were constantly together and spent the night too, while red sometimes had to be completely alone. There were many other children in the team, but Vesninsky did not want to communicate with them. They were too arrogant in his opinion. And they played much worse than Kevin and Rico. Oh, his friends play so well! And they help Nathaniel with new techniques!...

Nathaniel looked questioningly at Jean, who only looked away. The other two in the room noticed it too, and now everyone's smiles had changed to a worried expression.

-" Jean, what happened? Are you hurt? Does it hurt somewhere? " Nathaniel continued to bombard his partner with questions, while the Frenchman became more and more depressed and shook his head negatively at all the voiced questions.

That evening, the boys found out that Jean had been forcibly sent to them. It was hard, but they were together. And it took time, but Moror learned not to betray so much importance to this event, because now he had sworn brothers who always helped him and were with him in any situation.

На полу комнаты валялись покрывала и различные вещи, которые были случайно задеты во время игры. Кровати были тоже в беспорядке: пока ребята время от времени запрыгивали на них, все простыни съехали и теперь наполовину валялись на полу. комната залилась детским хохотом, когда Нат попал подушкой в Жана, теперь все четвро валялись на полу и смеялись,при этом тяжело дыша.

- Тшш, - прошептал мальчик с чёрными волосами, переворачиваясь попутно на живот и упираясь локтями в пол. - дядя должен скоро приехать! - смех резко затих и дети стали прислушываться, не слышно ли шагов. Когда они убедились, что находятся в безопасности, то выдохнули и уселись в кружок, подогнув под себя ноги. На лицах троих растянулись счастливые улыбки. Но не у Жана. Заметив это, Нат слегка толкнул Жана плечом, обращаяя на себя внимание.

Француз не так давно присоединился к ним в команду, но Натаниэль был рад, что теперь у него есть такой потрясающий напарник. Кевин и Рико - были его лучшими друзьями, однако те находились постоянно вместе и ночевали тоже, в то время, как рыжиму приходилось иногда находиться в полном одиночестве. В команде было много и других детей, однако Веснински не хотел с ними общаться. Они были слишком высокомерны, по его мнению. И играли намного хуже Кевин и Рико. О, его друзья так хорошо играют! И помогают Натаниэлю с новыми приёмами!...

Натаниэль вопросительно посмотрел на Жана, на что тот только отвёл взгляд. Это заметили и двое других в комнате, и вот уже улыбки всех сменились на обеспокоенное выраженеие.

- Жан, что случилось? Ты ударился? Где-то больно? - Натаниэль продолжал засыпать напарника вопросами, в то время как француз становился всё более подавленным и отрицательно помотал головой на все озвученные вопросы.

В тот вечер мальчики узнали, что Жана насильно отправили к ним. Это было тяжело, но они были вместе. И понадобилось время, но Морор научился не предавать этому событию так много значения, ведь теперь у него были названные братья, которые всегда ему помогали и были с ним в любой ситуации.
