Golden age

A/N: Got inspired to write a little drabble for Alicent based on this song

Summary: Alicent reminisces on time lost and memories of love.

Word count: 508

She holds the dress in her hands close to her frame as the doors to her chambers shut for the night. It is the hour of the bat and she finds herself unwilling to call upon Talya to help her undress. The fabric crinkles as she struggles to slip it on, the act in itself feeling sacred yet scarred. The green soothes her skin, clings to her like a cloak, a shroud of protection despite being delivered to duty in it all those years ago.

She finds herself brushing her fingers over her waist, noticing how the velvet tightens around her womb, now long past bearing fruit and wonders how her mother felt when she wore it last. She remembers a banquet, of days past, a happy smile, restrained yet content as she gazed at her father. Love the word in itself holds no meaning anymore.

She remembers a girl from the past, excited for the royal tourney, eager to bestow her favor to a knight she'd only dreamed about. The ballads and tales that regaled her fell in a swoop that day, lost to the death of the late queen. The tears don't come anymore as she recalls her wedding day.

“Somber and solemn as it should be” her father had said as he'd walked her down the aisle.

“We'll change history today, daughter. You've made our house proud”.

She hadn't felt brave then, letting in a man who'd brought in the very pain that afflicted him, drowning her in a pool of blood and tears.

“This is the price we pay for greatness, for the good of the realm” she'd heard.

Whispers and assurances passed over meals, in the corridors and great halls as she floundered with the veneer of her head held high. Perhaps it was her. Anyone else would have rejoiced at the position bestowed on her yet how could she claim this to be love when she'd felt it once before, even in a dream.

“You're the most comely girl at court Alicent, why do you ruin yourself so”.

His words rang true even in absence, as the people she trusted dwindled and the drapes and tapestries changed, her enclosure remaining the same guarded by bloodied hands, four instead of two.

The green catches the light of a withering candle nearby and she can see her eyes illuminated by it, feeling the depth of emotion coursing through her.

“You look just like your mother in certain lights”

She sees it now, not in the weight of her sorrow but the flecks of gold that cast their shadows. A memory emerges, of fire and uncertainty, a kingly remark of succession whispered with drunken callousness “I had a dream”

“My son shall be anointed in the way of the Conqueror. Let the people remember the ancient strength of House Targaryen”

Green and gold greet her as she emerges at dawn, straight faced as she gazes at her son shouldered with duty.

“Gold shall eclipse green henceforth and perhaps I'll have lit my way through the dark.”

She is the first born of Gwayne Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen. She rides Vermithor, the bronze fury.

She was engaged to Jaehaerys, son of Laena Velaryon and Viserys Targaryen, until he died when he was thirteen. She was engaged a few times after but none of them lasted. She and Oswin have been in love for years. She was very close to her father, he supported and encouraged her in her claim for the throne and his death devastated her. On the contrary she is distant with her mother as she holds her responsible for his death and resents her for favoring her bastard siblings, whom she hates, and naming Jacaerys her heir. She is very jealous of her half siblings, especially Saera, whom she considers her rival in most things.

She is fierce, quick to anger, ambitious and resentful. But she also has the making of a good queen. Under her grandfather’s influence, Otto Hightower, she became a very skilled politician, shrewd and cunning and she knows how to inspire loyalties. She was Rhaenyra cupbearer for a long time until Jacaerys took her place, but even then she would still sit to observe. She was made Maester of the law as soon as she was of age.

She considers herself the heir to the Iron throne and her brother Jacaerys an usurper. Her father's side of the family is supporting her in her quest to the throne and she’s particularly close to her cousin Cassandra Lannister who’s her biggest supporter.

These are a variety of fics that I've read over the years - apparently I briefly used my ao3 account in 2013, and then not again until 2020 - and I favoured ones I read first a long time ago but never commented on.

Miss Parker’s first name

We know for sure that only 3 persons actually know her first name. Her mother Catherine, Mr Parker and Jarod. Possibly Sydney but I doubt it.

The only clue we have is this:

A gift she made for her mother in 1969, the year she met Jarod at the Centre. No child would sign “Miss [last name]” to her own mother. So her first name starts with a M .

A lot of characters of the show have names with religious connotations. Catherine, Margaret, Jacob, Angelo, Thomas. Even Raines’ real name is Abel Parker. I don’t believe for a sec Mr Parker’s real name was Cain but it’s one hell of a coincidence that Raines tried to kill his brother a few times.

The Parkers are from Scotland. Carthis is a Scottish island. The first name that comes to your mind is Mary. Queen Mary of Scots anyone? Again it’s a name with a religious connotation. Marie is the French version of the name.

What I wish would have been a possibility is Catherine naming her daughter Megan or Meghan after her best friend Margaret but from what the show said Catherine and Margaret met AFTER Jarod was taken.

So yeah I don’t think it’s too far fetched for Miss Parker to have been named Mary. I feel Meghan would suit her best tho.

I’ve been calling her Monica for far too long to change my mind (we hold onto our headcanons and theories since there’s so much we don’t know and probably never will), unless there’s actual proofs of her real name or by some miracle we get the answer from Andrea or the producers. Going from Monica to Meghan wouldn’t bother me too much but I think I would have a hard time seeing her as a Mary 😅

Hi there I’m writing you back to share with you some of the ideas that I wanted to share with you. Sorry, they are long I’m not a good writer but I thought you would love to use them in the future. Also, I’m sorry for the long rambling. I love your stories about Morpheus and I thought I could give you more ideas for the future. ❤️ plus maybe these can be spicy stories too I’m just not good at writing them lol. (also I didn't know what to call the character so I just gave them names)

An idea I have for this storyline is that it’s set in 1889 and Morpheus is destined to find the queen of the dreaming. He leaves the dreaming and it's set in 1889. He finds Elizabeth and knows she’s the one. Morpheus throws these extravagant ballroom parties even though he doesn’t like them. He wishes to know Elizabeth more. He dances with her and gets to know her spending time with her. Morpheus asked Elizabeth to marry her and she says yes. Elizabeth is so excited she told her father and he disproves the marriage. She is furious at her father but she doesn’t let that stop her she loves him. So on the day before the wedding, Morpheus throws one more mask ballroom party because after the wedding he will be taking her to the dreaming. Elizabeth is kinda sad her father wasn’t there until she saw him. He told her he wish to talk to her in private and she goes. Meanwhile, Morpheus is looking for her but can’t find her. While Elizabeth is with her father he poisoned her to stop this marriage from happening and he writes a letter pretending to be Elizabeth saying she doesn’t want to be with him anymore and has never loved him and she would rather die. Morpheus reading this is heartbroken and tries to stop this because he refuses to let her go. He runs up the great stairs but it’s to late he hold his deceased lover in his arms heartbroken. Many years later dream went back to the dreaming. He was cold and ruthless and heartbroken. Something dark grew inside him that night. One day he was going through dreams when he found his love Elizabeth reincarnated. Elizabeth doesn’t remember anything she is married and Morpheus will do anything in his power to have her back and in the dreaming.

Storie about the mermaid

(based kinda off the little mermaid 2023)

she wants to explore the real world and explore the dreaming but her father had problems with the endless family and refuses to be a part of them (Maybe the endless kill his wife) so he tries to protect his daughter from the world but she’s a rebellious spirit just like her mother. She sneaks around and comes up to the surface and sees the dreaming and all the people in the dreaming helping people desperately wanting to be a part of it. After a while, she goes exploring and Morpheus is free and he is trying to rebuild the dreaming then as Morpheus goes into the water he can’t control it it’s too strong and she’s there saving him from drowning pulling him to the shoreline. She starts to fall in love with him but she knows she can’t be with him. Morpheus kinda sees a glimpse of her and Lucienne runs down to help him up and Matthew spots her from the sky. Little did we know that Desire is watching this too and they want to mess with dream. They have this evil plan and they decide to tell our mermaid father that she saved an endless and our mermaid father doesn’t like this! He is angry that his daughter saved an endless and went to the surface of the dreaming. He destroyed everything she loves and she is broken. Desire knew this would happen so they come to her to give her a spell to turn her into a human but she has to make Morpheus fall in love with her. (Desire they would definitely do a musical number like Ursula did saying like “Fine then, forget about the world above Go back home to daddy and never leave again”. They are extra like that!) she becomes human and Abel finds her and helps her (he’s a sweetheart) getting her dressed and Cain finds out he’s not too happy about his brother bringing guests into their houses. Abel wants to tell Morpheus about the woman he found.

Morpheus is always thinking about the woman that saved her and her melody is in his head and everywhere he goes it plays through the castle and he wants to see her again. Abel decided to tell Morpheus that he found a woman on the shore. He goes to their house and sees her and decides to take care of her.

this idea is like a siren story;

is kinda based on the song of (Vanessa Tricks and my little sister's storyline too of what she thinks)

In the kingdom of dreams, there is mermaid and sirens and nobody can tell them apart. They are deadly and the kingdom of dream was told to stay away from them. Our mermaid is a siren who wants to take over the dreaming and she can’t do that as a siren. When Morpheus is free and tries to rebuild his kingdom by going into the water he drowns. She finds the king of dreams and saves him from the water. She wants him to think she’s all sweet and kind but in reality, she wants the kingdom. so she decided to go to desire because she wants to take over the dreaming and desires they will do anything to mess with Morpheus. So they turn our siren into a human. Morpheus and Lucienne plus Matthew find her on the shoreline line and take care of her. She tried to turn dream against desire and everyone using her siren song. The more Dream listens to it the more evil he becomes too.

Sweet bejezus bestie! 👀 These are all excellent ideas in which I shall add to my repertoire because I have no self control! 🥰
