“I like you,” Jax says out of the blue one night, no prompting needed. Both he and Pomni were on a grassy hill under the midnight sky.
“Oh?” Pomni replies, a bit startled. “And why is that?”
“You’re not blind to how this place makes us feel,” Jax tells her. “Everyone either pretends it’s fine or just ignores how this place is making them feel…even I kinda adapted to that a little.”
“A little?” Pomni raises a brow with a cheeky smile.
Jax huffs, rolling his eyes with a smile, “Okay, a lot. Don’t get sassy on me short stack.” He ruffles her hat, he knows that she doesn’t like physical skin-to-skin contact so the hat was placed as a boundary.
It was funny in a way, Jax loved to go out of his way to prank the others and Pomni was no exception. But little things like the hat made her feel warm that he didn’t want to push her over the edge. “I like you too.”
Jax’s eyes widened, clearly not expecting that at all, “Really?”
Pomni nods with a hum.
“Are you sure?” Jax cringes a little, even he knew how much of a brat he could be.
“Yup,” Pomni beams at him. “You’re the only one who’s honest with me.”
Jax's tail twitched as he found himself lost in thought. She was right. Out of everyone here, he was the only one who told her the truth about this place and the type of tragedies that it could bring out. He meant it to be harsh, but in a way, he had unknowingly helped her. “Yeah, I guess I am.”
He looked to her hand resting on the grass, covered by her glove. Boundaries he told himself. His own gloved hand reached over to hers, placing his pinkie on top of her own.
Pomni felt her stomach flip, it was so small but the action made her heart ignite like sparklers. With a blush, she curled her pinkie round his, hearing his sharp intake of breath.
The two didn’t look at each other for the rest of the night, but neither had to turn to know how flustered each of them looked. But that was okay, it was enough.
This was enough.
I like you
An unspoken truth was the loudest sentence heard that night.
The au is about murder mystery etc, think of as a slash of comedy/horror/action series part.
Tadc au! City gal Pomni moves to a country town and meets up with new friends, especially an usual butcher that works on the farm and store makes her skin crawls.
I'll explain more about the au more in the future or you can asked in the comments!
AND YES IM AM TAGGING TADC FANDOM, YALL NEED TO HEAR IT. Let’s squash this stupidity while it’s new. No more shipping wars. Let’s just have fun and not be jerks about others ships.
Luckily when talking about TADC I don’t have to worry much about clarifying about certain ships since all the characters are adults from what we know.
This is an TADC AU/fanfic I made up, called "By The Creek."
The world's concept is that in the real world Jax and Pomni lived in a small town. Jax is a farm boy who met Pomni after her father and her moved into town so her father could work as the town librarian/archivists. Pomni was Homeschooled by her father and just so happened to meet Jax accidentally by a creek in the forest just outside of town near his farm.
