This exhibition underscores a group of underrepresented Black artists, from Los Angeles, New York and Miami, whose work questions ideas of ownership, be it through the body, mind, spirit and/or physical space. #WhoOwnsBlackArt will take place at @muce305 in Miami's Little Haiti, where culture, history and legacy of Black liberation is facing down gentrification through at the hands of artists and culture makers. This exhibition could have not been contrived and realized without multiple key partners in the Little Haiti and Miami community as well as throughout the United States and in the African Diaspora. Black people BEEN creating, thriving and elevating themselves and their communities. While enjoying Art Week in Miami, please show up and show out for other Black owned and administered arts organizations. Who better to showcase and administer our cultural contributions to the world? FOR US BY US! In a time where Black cultural infrastructures are constantly attacked, usurped and profited off of, work like this is important and relevant. A NYT article is not enough to quantify the frameworks created by and for Black people not only in the United States, but also throughout the African Diaspora. A major key he mentioned was that it could not have happened without Ms. Valencia @vee_valencia and many more members of his team... An event where Miami goes 24hrs without any gun violence. Everyone who supported came out to be a part. The event was free and open to the public. It included a number of tents bringing awareness and getting their products out. Channel 7 News, NBC 6, WMBM Radio Station was there for coverage, food trucks, a mobile barbershop, art from the Miami Urban Contemporary, a Kids Zone, 3on3 Father-Son Basketball Tournament, live on stage performances, artist who care about the people, a rock climbing wall, Circle Of Brotherhood, BME - I am Black Genius, Michaela Angela Davis, Aja, Quavo Baraka, City of Miami Police, Miami Police Commander, DJ Bullet Proof, Commissioner Frank Carollo, and many many more...
