i love the lesbian couple that lives near my parent's work. they are super nice and they live in a farm with nine dogs and over fifteen cats (not an exaggeration). im pretty sure one of them was in a cult when she was younger. they're both butch and one of them says she doesn't see gender for anyone ever, only presentation and pronouns. she still uses the word lesbian to herself because she thinks it sounds cool. all animals in their farm are rescues. they have more coconut trees that they can account for so everytime we visit they shove coconut at us and we leave with at least ten in our car because they literally don't know what to do with that much coconut. their existence fills me with hope

i literally cant stop thinking about these two parts from alhaitham and kavehs story lore bio things. like i know people have talked about them to death and it's old news by now but i only just cleared the sumeru story + alhaitham and kavehs story quests/hangouts like a month ago so i have them on the brain lol!!!
alhaitham did not socialize much at all in the akademiya and did not do any group research projects except for ONE!!!! he got involved enough with kaveh that he was willing to go against his normal keeping to himself way of doing things and join a project with him - that, or maybe he found that particular research topic interesting enough to do for once, which is something he and kaveh still shared together..............
and my godddd alhaitham throwing a harsh truth at kaveh, and kaveh being hurt by his BEST FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEST FRIENDS!!!!!!but so hurt/defensive to the point that he got worked up and told alhaitham he regretted making friends with him ;;;A;;; and alhaitham, who we have seen SEVERAL TIMES genuinely does NOT care what people think about him - something they show us a lot in i think both the sumeru story and his character quest - he left the project!!! he took his name off!!!! it's not kaveh who left, not a "well if you feel that way you can leave" but HE left!!!! like i dont know, maybe there's semantics of kaveh being the one that started it, or maybe i'm totally reading it wrong and it's alhaitham removing kavehs name lol but i feel like theyd specify if that's the case - either way. alhaitham taking action at all.......... a really bad argument......... boys who hurt each others feelings kfjskljsekljflk ;w;
that last sentence also makes me think they were like "i can fix him -> i cant fix him actually this guys fucked up beyond repair 😔"
but also this bit from kavehs notebook!!!!!!!!!!! about alhaitham!!!! he meets him, he likes him, "our views are aligned and they are complete" BUT CROSSED OUT!! they agreed at some point?? but then. i guess he didnt cross it out when they had the falling out but rather when he got to know alhaitham more and changed it with that second line... we contrast, but that is good. and the comment that it specifically was a retained line, like he didnt go back and block it out or anything after....... perhaps still holding that in his heart 😔
and the thesis. waughghhghg. ok im done talking to myself i think i have like maybe 3 mutuals/follower people that are even somewhat interested in genshin but SORRY i am in the deep end

My dear coworker had a rough week, so yesterday I brought her cupcakes (she really likes cupcakes. I do this every once in a while because it’s nice and I like making her happy) and so like every time I bring her cupcakes she said “you’re my favorite person!” And I was like “are you telling me your boyfriend doesn’t bring you cupcakes every week?” And she’s like “no! He HIDES his snacks from me.” And it’s like a minor thing and I’m sure he’s lovely, but I just wanna see this man. Like dude you have a gorgeous, funny, sweet girlfriend and you’re not gonna share your snacks???

hello....... xiyao hunger games au........ pls say more
are they both tributes
hello anon u have opened a can of worms i have been thinking abt this au for over a year. my xiyao hunger games au.... theyre technically both tributes, just not in the same games..?
they meet each other as victors, a few days after meng yao wins his games, as he waits for his victor interview with ceaser flickerman.
lan xichen had won the games previous to this, dominating both the in-game and out-of-game play, his early life career training from belonging to district 1 combined with his 'prince charming' aura makes him a favourite for the capitoltes, who clamour to sponsor him, and a BEAST in the games.
meng yao, who was not of a fan of the games as so much he saw it as an egregious feat of capitol power, and a fascinating lesson in propaganda, watched this with both awe and an analytical eye.
he would not volunteer for the games (he's neither stupid nor suicidal), but if the opportunity came to either rise up from the poor life he's living in district 11, or give his mother one less mouth to feed, he'd grab the chance with both hands.
they won in contrasting ways, due to their very different backgrounds and personalities
lan xichen won with honour (as much as children killing other children can be considered honourable). mainting his single alliance with his district mate until the end, winning with a final sword duel that had the capitolites swooning in their seats. he's the image of perfection, a low kill count leaves little blood to mar his image.
meng yao won with deception, almost all his kills coming from either literal or figurative backstabbing. as one of the underdogs, and malnourished 15 years old from district 11, he wouldnt win in a straight fight with most tributes, let alone the careers. despite this, he left a bloody trail behind him to become victor, with 2 direct and 4 infirect kills under his belt. (he's still a capitol darling, as most victors are, but in a more - we like you right now but we can and will turn on you if you make a slight mistake)
meng yao did not expect to win once reaped and is struggling to deal with being alive when he thought he'd be dead, so is having a minor breakdown waiting to be interviewed.
lan xichen decides to visit the new victor and give them some advice on how to deal with the victory tour and [gestures vageuly to capitol] that, and kindly interrupts the start of said breakdown. this somehow leads into mimicking the iconic hand-caressing-intense-eye-contact-meeting scene from cql (i love the scenet too much not to include it).
ANYWAYS this is getting too long now, but just know that meng yao had a MASSIVE crush on lan xichen as he watched him win his games, and if it weren't for his mini breakdown whilst waiting to be interviewed he would totally be internally fangirling, and that lan xichen is completealy enamoured with meng yao after meeting him once.
they become a favourite capitol pairing (not couple just yet), constrasting heights and images creating a perfect pair (this is self indulgeant).
hopefully this makes some sense to u anon, and u enjoyed the rambling

a long dumb rant under the cut
this dnd group feels so weird like….. nobody takes initiative and there r so many moments where they just don’t say anything at all. The chemistry is kind of off. I feel like I’m always the one who does the taking charge solely to keep the game fuxkifn moving 90% of the time and I only do it bc nobody else does or says anything definitive. One time I decided to see how long they could go without someone talking or suggesting any course of action (when we entered a town and the DM had finished describing it and the places u could visit) by refusing to be the first person to talk. And it was dead silence for at least 20 seconds. Which is a long time. There are 5 total players btw!!!! So all 5 of us (plus the DM waiting) not making a sound. I was biting my tongue and feeling sooooooo uncomfortable the whole time. The DM ended up having the NPC we saved suggest something. I don’t know if it’s true at all, but I feel like they’re not engaged enough at various times and the result makes it feel like playing a solo RPG video game instead of a TTRPG.
Sometimes I have to ask each person individually by name what they vote to do next when we have different options in our quest, otherwise theylll say nothing and it will just be one other player who wanted to do something, and me replying to them my vote (usually I go with it) . And then nothing happening cuz we don’t know how the rest of the group feel. The rest just be staying silent. So I fucking have to call their name to take their votes. And still some of the players don’t answer me at all when I do this. It makes the game go slower in the absolute worst ways.
I also find often that i’ll ask a question of them or the DM and get complete silence in return. Long silence again. So I’m like “hello? Can u hear me? Is my mic working?” And they’ll all respond immediately that yes my mic is working and they can hear me. So it’s like why the fuck is nobody answering my questions then lmao. This is troubling me because I don’t know why it’s happening. There has to be a reason. Am I just so annoying? I don’t want to be. I try hard not to be. Does everyone not respond because they assume someone else will answer? That doesn’t make sense when the silence lasts so long it becomes clear that I won’t get answered by anyone. Then I have to keep asking and that makes it such that I will inevitably be perceived as annoying.
It’s like pulling teeth trying to get them to actually do anything they have decided to do. Like ok we have decided to go to <place>. Why is everyone just sitting there in silence now instead of going “I begin walking in this direction” or some shit, like they are all too scared to take charge or be the first one to do anything. Or we vote on some strategy and it’s all worked out but for some reason they then just mill about…..like girl, get into formation. You chose this! So do it!
The thing I hate is that when I don’t take charge or initiate anything or say “I do this” (this being the thing we decided on) it takes 10x as long for it to happen and it’s happening because the DM had to initiate it. and so I worry that because I end up having to do this, they will (or already do) find me bossy or otherwise obnoxious and possibly harbor resentment toward me or feel like they can’t speak out about what they want to do because they’re worried I’ll steamroll them (I absolutely would not and I never do, but I worry all the same).
But once again it is making the game go slowly in the worst way. And I don’t know what to make of the fact that I keep getting ignored when I ask benign or clarification questions. It’s making me feel the way I felt when I worked at a doctors office with other women my age and they all just became friends with each other but did not attempt to become friends with me and I didn’t know why. I tried to be friendly/nice to them, I talked to them, laughed w them, I didn’t do anything shitty. I But it was like they subconsciously decided that I didn’t exist outside of work. I was ignored. And it was something I could feel around them by the lack of it. That is how this is starting to feel.
