Now three months into your official relationship you began to explore each other’s family lives. Aemond knew about your upbringing. Where you studied, who your parents were, how you met your friend group. After a while of coaxing on your part, Aemond opened up about his family.
It seemed they were rich. His father owned a finance firm. His half-sister and older brother were CEOs of the bank. Jace was his cousin and the next in line for the seat of CEO after his mother. He rolled his eyes when he told you about his family. “We are a mess, actually. My big sister Helaena was right when she told me to grab my fund and run.”
You were sitting at his kitchen bar on a stool watching your boyfriend cook some brunch. It was oddly satisfying to watch him do domestic things like cooking. It was strange seeing him so calm and casual. You only knew him as the up-tight, stiff surgeon.
“So tell me Doc,” You laid your head in your hand. “Why not the family business? Why did you choose to work in a hectic field where people can scream, vomit or put other bodily fluids on you?” Your eyebrows were slightly furrowed.
Aemond chuckled as he turned to you with the skillet he made an omelette in. He plated it and sat it in front of you with some cluttery. “First off, I’m a surgeon. I don’t get yelled at so much. Second, blood is mainly one of the only bodily fluids I get in my scrubs. Third and last, if I would work for my father I would work myself into a burnout in the first year of my working in the company.”
Your eyebrows raised. “Why do you know this for sure?” Aemond sat next to you and began to part his own omelette to let it cool down. “I would have to do my workload and that of my older brother. He is just in the firm so he has a job at all. My mom had to beg my father to employ him. Aegon attended business school and had relatively good grades. He just got involved with the wrong crowd. He has seen two rehab clinics by now.” Your eyes were wide.
Aemond ate his food without looking at you. A clear sign he wanted to end the conversation. You left it at this. A little overwhelmed by the news.
Later that evening you walked around his apartment. It was like a furniture magazine come to life. Everything had its particular place. There was no grain of dust in any of the rooms. Currently, you were snooping around in his study looking at his literary collection. His bookshelves were massive. You stopped at some graphic novels and old comic books. So he was a nerd after all. Your eyes grew wide as you discovered a rather spicy genre of Manga.
“Oh, my gods!” Aemond heard your exclamation from the living room he currently read a file for his next patient. He flung the manila map to his coffee table and rushed into his study. Your exclamation worried him; he thought you hurt yourself. He froze as he saw what you had in your hand.
Your eyebrows were raised as you wore a teasing smirk on your lips, “Doctor Targaryen, I didn’t know you read Hantai!” You smirked at the revelation. “How naughty!” Aemond chuckled nervously. A blush crept up his neck. “If I tell you I wasn’t the most popular kid in middle and high school would you believe me?”
I pointed at his collection of graphic novels and comic books. “No, you must have been a charmer.” Aemond chuckled. “Loner would fit better.” You walked over to him, still with one of his Hantai books in your hand. “I would have sat next to you at lunch.” Aemond grinned, “Really? Little Miss ‘popular theatre girl’ would have sat next to me?”
You grinned as he used your past hobby as a leverage point. “Yes, I would have. And in high school, we would have probably been the ‘IT Couple’.” You grinned. Aemond rolled his eye, “Yeah right. Maybe because we would have dressed like characters from IT to Halloween.” He scoffed. Your grin widens. “You get my point, honey!” He scoffed again.
You put your hands on your hips. “You don’t believe me? I saw your high school pictures. You must have been a fantasy for some girls.” Your boyfriend chuckled as he walked closer to you. He snaked his arms around your waist and pulled you closer to him. “Maybe. But right now I want to be only one girl’s fantasy.” He looked down at you before capturing your lips with his in a searing kiss.

Chapter Two: Float
When Bart and I were eight, we went to the swamp to sail paper boats on the water. It was one of the rare times that Bart asked to play with me. We put on our rain boots and trudged through the marsh. I crouched beside the pond blowing on our boats to push them across the water. “Do you think they’ll stop beating me up if I stop bringing CRAYDL to school?” I asked as I reached up to touch the corner of my healing black eye. It didn’t hurt to the touch anymore, but that didn’t make a difference to Bart.
“They’re gonna stop beating you up because I told ‘em to stop. Mom said I could beat them up if they keep bothering you,” Bart replied as he dislodged a stone from the mud with his foot. He’d been working at it for a while.
“Dad says it won’t always be like this at school for me,” I replied.
“Yeah, if I beat them up-.”
“Why does everyone wanna fight all the time? Dad says we should fight with our minds-.”
“I’ll headbutt one of ‘em for you,” Bart replied, “Sometimes you gotta beat people up. They’re not being fair to you. They’re beating you up.”
“I guess you’re right,” I mumbled, “Still, I wish it wouldn’t have to be that way.”
He grew quiet, so I followed the boats around, twirling them in tiny circles. “Bart, why don’t you come close and play?” I asked. He didn’t answer, so I turned around, and he was gone. “Bart?”
My blood ran cold as my brain flooded with images of a certain child-eating clown. I shook as I grabbed our boats and tiptoed through the marsh alone. “Bart, please stop hiding… I don’t like hide-and-go-seek,” I murmured. I could feel someone watching me, but I was too afraid to look back. I walked a little faster. I couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was behind me. My stomach turned, and my feet stopped working.
I went cold as I felt a breath on my neck. I thought my heart would burst in my chest. “You’ll float too,” a clown-ish voice whispered in my ear, and I let out such a bloodcurdling scream that I threw up and wet myself. “Aw, man! Thad, I’m-.” I burst into tears, and Owen picked me up. “It’s alright. I shouldn’t have scared you so bad.”
His friend squealed with laughter. “It’s not funny, dingus! He’s crying! My mom’s gonna kill me!” Owen snapped. He kissed my temple. “Please stop crying, Bubba. I’ll give you-. Wait, where’s Bart?”
I started crying even harder. “I was looking for Bart! He disappeared!” I wailed. Owen rubbed my back.
“It’s okay. I bet you Bart went home or something. He couldn’t have gotten far. Let’s look together. Okay?” Owen reassured me. He hiked up the hill to the street, where Bart walked along the sidewalk. “Bart!”
He didn’t respond, but I heard him. I heard him speaking to someone. “Linda, wait!” Bart hollered as he ran across the street.
“Bart, no!” Owen screamed. He saw it before anyone else. The car hit Bart so hard it knocked his shoes off, and I threw myself out of Owen’s arms. I scraped my knees, and I crawled to him. Someone tried to grab me, but I screamed and fought. “Axel! Go get somebody! Go get my Mom! Get someone, please!”
Owen screamed and cried until the older boy got out of the car. He pushed him and wept. “You hit my brother! That’s my brother!” Owen shouted. The bakery was only three blocks from the swamp, but Axel was smart enough to use a pay phone at the corner to call Mom.
She ran there on foot with Dad and Auntie Dawn. Auntie Dawn pulled Owen away from the older boy and held on tight. Dad grabbed me from whoever held onto me.
“Thad, what happened? Why-? Why are you wet?” Dad asked. I couldn’t stop shaking or crying.
“Bubba, he-. Daddy-. I can’t breathe,” I panicked. Dad blew on my face like he did when I was little, but it didn’t help. The ambulance came, and they carried Bart away with Mom. Dad took Owen and me home. Dad ran me a bath, but I was in shock. I couldn’t move. He took a cup of water and sat it on the tub before supporting my neck in his palm and rinsing my hair. “It’s gonna be alright, Spud… I wish you-. I’m worried about you,” Dad whispered, “Please say something.”
“What happened to our boats?” I asked. “I had them in my hand.”
Dad wrapped me in towels and pulled the drain before placing two large dinosaur bandages on my skinned knees. “I can work with that. I’ll make you both ten boats each. I’m gonna make my world-famous Philly Joes. I won’t make yours sloppy… Okay?” Dad asked.
“Can you tell me what I am?” I asked.
“You’re my littlest human. You draw the best dinosaur pictures I’ve ever seen. You and I don’t use the t-word because you’re your own person. Aren’t you?” Dad asked. He gave me that little pep talk whenever I felt responsible for something that happened to Bart. I dressed and followed Dad to the living room, where Owen lay in his pajamas, flipping through channels. I lay beside Owen on the couch, and he draped his arm over me.
“Why would he do that?” Owen mumbled.
I didn’t answer. Owen tightened his hold around me. “What do you feel, kiddo? Is he alright?” Owen asked. He knew I felt things Bart did sometimes.
“Nothing but our heads hurt,” I replied. Owen kissed the top of my head.
“I’m sorry for scaring you,” Owen apologized, “That wasn’t funny. You didn’t deserve that.”
Owen wasn’t a bully by any means. He loved Bart and me. So, I knew he didn’t mean any harm when he scared me earlier. “It’s okay,” I whispered.
“My dad’s gonna come watch us tonight after dinner. Your dad’s going to the hospital to check on Bart,” Owen whispered. Owen must’ve been torn up about the car accident because he was always excited to see Digger. Digger wasn’t the most responsible grown-up I ever met, but he loved Owen more than anything.
Owen tightened his grip on me so much it almost hurt, and he sat up, still holding me. “Don! Don!” Owen yelled. Dad ran into the room in his apron with latex gloves on.
“What’s wrong, kiddo?” Dad asked, half out of breath.
I felt water hit the top of my head. “Where are Bart’s rain boots? He had rain boots on, and they came off when-. They came off. Did somebody get his boots?” Owen asked as he started to cry.
Dad frowned and crouched in front of Owen and me. “Hey, the EMTs got his boots and put them in a plastic bag. I know it looked scary, but Bart’s gonna be okay-.”
“I should’ve paid more-.”
“You’re a wonderful brother, and I love you so much,” Don whispered, “You care so much… And I’m so grateful that you’re the oldest.” He messed up Owen’s hair.

How Did I Get Here (ch1)
             Dear diary…
You know? I thought my life would be normal after I moved to Paris from the UK. However… It’s only been about two weeks since mom and dad moved us here that my whole life has changed. It seems that the whole concept of superheroes versus villains exists outside of the comic books. These random villains like Stoneheart, Stormy Weather, and even more. But nothing would prepare me for everything I’ve learned in these two weeks.
“But dad I don’t want to go to a new school… I’ve already made friends here I’m all set!” The girl whined as her father was packing up their life to the moving truck. “Calm down Ayano, you’ll see that this is going to be a really good experience for you, and you know your fathers worked very hard for this promotion at the company.” The older woman said as she rested her hand on the younger girl’s shoulder. “You know. When I was your age, I had to make a huge change in my life as well. My mom gave me a book to write all my thoughts and feelings down about all I went through.” Ayano looked at her mom with a deadpanned expression, “You mean a Diary mom? I’m not six writing about unicorns and superheroes….” Her mother laughed softly and held out a small gold embellished journal, “no, but you are growing into a young lady. This will be a perfect way to share your feelings.” The girl sighed and took I with a small smile, “Thanks mom… I’ll... try it out...” She said softly as she looked down at the journal. “Great, now finish getting your stuff in the truck so we can be in Paris by this evening.” The girl tucked the book away in her bag before going to pack up the little bit of life she had in her old room. She sighed as she looked around at the emptiness around her, “I hope they’re right about this…” She spoke softly to herself before carrying the few boxes out to the truck.
Ayano’s father slapped down the door of the moving truck and patted it, “This baby could really fit a whole zoo in there if you let it. Let’s hit the road family!” He hummed and got into the drivers’ seat of the car. Ayano followed behind and got in the back, plugging in her headphones and turning on some calming music by Pacific Coolest. She sighed and leaned her head on the cool window and watched as the scenery pass before dozing off.
Soon she was woken to soft shakes by her mother, whining softly, “honey… we’re here” Her mother spoke softly, and she sat up to rub her eyes. She looked at the new place she now had to call home. It wasn’t the biggest house, but it was immaculate and showed status which was apparently important to her parents. She sighed and got out of the car, shrugging on the overnight bag she packed for the first few nights while they unpacked. “I’m going to bed…” She said softly as she went up the stairs and into the house. Her parents shared a similar look of worry between hem as she left but shrugged it off, “Teenagers...” He father sighed and left her to be. Ayano flopped on her new bed and looked around her bare room and let out a whine before looking through her bag, the new journal being at the top. “I guess I’ll try this…” She flipped open the journal to the first page and took out a pen.
Do I start this with the typical dear diary crap? I don’t know… Honestly, I don’t even know how to talk about my feelings but here we go. Today I had to finish packing up my already okay life and move to another country, well at least this country is only a train ride away from home, but still... I already had a life, a home, a friend group, and a school. So why do I have to restart that tomorrow in a place I barely know?! They didn’t even ask me what I wanted and told me this would be a great experience for me… But how could they know… To late now though I guess... I just have an off feeling about Paris…
Ayano set the journal to the side and let out a breath, that did make her feel a bit better. She got up to get ready for bed before curling up in bed and letting herself get some needed rest as the first day of school was tomorrow.
The next thing Ayano knew she was being woken up by her mom gently, “Morning sweetie! Time for your first day at school! I hope you’re excited, I’ve unpacked some of your clothes and got some pastries from a cute little bakery down the road.” Ayano huffed and rubbed her eyes as she stood up, “I’m not hungry...” She got up and looked through her closet. “Well then I’ll pack you some, so you don’t stay grouchy for your first day of making new friends.” She hummed and left her to change. Ayano rolled her eyes and got dressed in something passable from what her mom had already unpacked. Of course, the only things her mom had unpacked were her best clothes and nothing at all her style, but she could make it work. She went downstairs and shoved a croissant into her mouth before muttering out a muffled, “Bye” to her parents. She was lucky to have such a short walk to school from her home.
She looked around in the nice brisk morning as she walked, she admitted, there was a beauty to the city around her that London didn’t have, but she still didn’t like being in such an unfamiliar place. As she passed the bakery she assumed her mom had gotten the treats from she couldn’t help but notice the old man who was on the ground in the middle of the crosswalk. As she was about to aid, she saw another girl go for him, her sweets going everywhere. “Must be the bakers daughter..” She muttered to herself as she watched her help the old man and them part. She was going to the same place she was, so she just followed the pigtailed girl, watching as she went over to her friends and started chatting. She sighed softly as she remembered her friends from back home. She just passed by everyone and went to go map out her schedule so she wouldn’t get lost in the day. She eventually went to her homeroom and sit in the back of the class. She kept to herself during the class and quietly left to go to her first class which was PE, as she left the class she was bumped into a disgruntled student that told her to shove off and watched as he went to the principals office. “He’s.. rude..” She muttered and went to the class she had.
She heard a loud bang as she got to her class before the whole building shook and students freaked out, “What the hell was that?!” She exclaimed before hearing a loud ‘KIM’ in the distance and followed as the students went to the window. “What the hell is that?!?” Another student exclaimed as the chunky rock figure was going around causing destruction. The next thing she knew she was being dragged to go hide by a fellow classmate. They pulled up the news and watched as they covered what was going on. It was a long battle that took for what seemed like hours to fix, but these new superheroes had saved the day. She eventually was allowed to go home and was just done with the day. How was it that this could be real. Like what maniac could start this shit.
She went through the door to her house and her parents looked frazzled, “Oh my god you’re safe! We were so worried, and you weren’t texting us.” Her mother hugged her tightly. “Oh.. Yeah I was pulled into cover and my phone was in the other room off.. sorry… I just want food and to go to bed. This day has been… a lot to say the least.” She said deadpanned, still trying to figure out what the hell had happened today. “I think a good night of sleep will do us all good” Her father said and set out the food they had ordered. Ayano picked up her own plate and filled it before going up to her room, “Night..”
She got in her room and set her plate down on her desk before flopping on her bed and pulling her journal over and flipping to the next page.
Dear Diary,
What in the ever-loving HELL happened today. STONEHEAD….HEART….MAN?!? I don’t know what the hell that was. But apparently, I live in the multiverse of superheroes and villains and this ISN’T just my 6 year old brain playing make believe in this time. I literally saw a man get crushed by a car in front of my school and of course he’s now probably in the hospital or something. I knew moving to Paris would be the WORST. Now I live in a goddamn comic book world where my life is in danger?? I mean at least I understand what the NPC characters of the marvel universe feel after their regularly scheduled villain shows up to cause hell… I just hope tomorrow is normal….

Aight so I might do something with this I might not, they were mostly just to get the idea on the page, but Destin originated as a joke character. He started out as a horrible stereotype of 'magical girl anime villian'.
And then I got attached.
Anyways, you did ask for self-indulgence @thatprolificauthor so here you are.
Destin & his new best friend sharing names:
"So." Destin leaned over the table, his chin propped carelessly on his palm. "Mister Willows. What's your name?"
"Griffin." The man grumbled.
"Aww, Butch, you don't trust me?"
Griffin didn't answer, but his sidelong glance spoke volumes. Destin slid closer, folding his arms and resting his head on them, pouting at his new friend.
It took a moment before the implication clicked.
"WAIT. Your real name is..."
Griffin returned to his sandwich, obviously annoyed. Destin steadied himself on the barstool, having shot upwards so fast it unbalanced.
"No! That's amazing! It's genius. Why didn't I think of that? Hiding in plain sight, no one would ever think to look for man named Griffin Willows while hunting down the public menace with the code name Griffin. Everyone uses these dumb comic book names for everything."
Destin grinned at Butch's obvious discomfort.
"No, seriously. Would you believe me if I told you my name was actually Destiny?"
Butch coughed, clearing his throat as if the thought itself was traumatising.
"My mom was so proud of herself for coming up with that. Destin. E. Destin Eaves. She said Mike hated it but he didn't want a kid so she told him he gave up all right to decide my name and stuck with it."
"You talk about your mom a lot."
"Yeah, and? She's a renowned expert in her field, a badass lady, and a good mom. Why wouldn't I be proud?"
Destin meeting a character from a different but possibly connected WIP: (for context, Deborah is a tortoise)
Destin collapsed on a couch with an exhausted sigh, gently placing Deborah on his chest. He heard a bit of shuffling and opened his eyes to an adorable little girl staring down at him.
"You're the real person. The one that does the fwish with the glitter, and, and the sea of marbles on the street and the real gross rainbow vomit. You are, aren't you?"
"Who are you supposed to be?"
The little girl blinked, as if she wasn't used to being asked that question. She was clearly well dressed and, considering this was supposed to be some sort of company retreat, everyone who came through was probably familiar with their bosses' kids.
"Oh! I'm Audrey. Audrey Calamite. My mom runs this place."
"Wait, Calamite as in Calamite Industries? So your mom is… but isn't she..." He squints at the child. She had to be older than ten but that implied things he had no business getting involved in.
"What? Ewwwww, don't be gross. She adopted me when I was nine cause my mom and dad didn't want a useless heir."
"Uh. Sure kid."
"Don't call me kid, my name is Audrey."
"Sure, Audrey. How old are you?"
Audrey stood tall and proud, loudly declaring that she was, surprisingly, already thirteen. Maybe Destin was just getting too old to tell the difference.
That was a painful thought.

the absolute best part of your day is when the package arrives at your doorstep. you impulse-purchased it about two weeks ago while you were hanging out with one of your close friends, and you've been looking forward to trying it every day since.
or, really, for your cat to try it.
you've read reviews and been extremely diligent to make sure the stuff is completely safe, and everything you've seen or read was singing the praises of this cat weed (which isn't actually cannabis at all, but catnip made to look like it).
as you take the cardboard box to the kitchen table and pry open the top with the help of a Swiss army knife, you're grinning. Klimt comes scampering into the room to see what all the fuss is about, sitting at your feet with his tail curled around his legs.
"no peeking." you scold him gently. your kitten, the friendliest little rescue tabby around, simply stares blankly back. when you remove the wrapping from the glass jar and stare at it up close, you're impressed by how realistic it looks. the label shows cat-friendly ingredients only, but you unscrew the top and get a whiff of catnip.
Klimt begins to weave in between your legs, nudging them affectionately and beginning to purr. you giggle and bend down to give him a few pets. his nose twitches; he tries to sniff at the foreign object, but you put it back on the table.
"don't be greedy, babe." you scratch between his pointed ears and he lets out a whiny meow.
it's about his dinner time, and you were hoping to give him his treat tonight after he finishes his dry food. so you make yourself something simple with the leftovers in your fridge and do some more work on your laptop while you two eat together.
you've had Klimt for a while, now. you call him a kitten even though he's a full-grown cat-- he's just as playful and enthusiastic as any newborn. his eyes are the color of meadow grass, and his nose is scattered with tiny freckles. it makes him look like he's just come from digging around the backyard, but it really just adds to his charm.
not to mention his ceaselessly social tendencies: Klimt is always around when your friends come over, worming his way in between you or sitting on one of the free chair cushions to listen. you wonder if he knows what you're saying sometimes, because when you talk about the embarrassing things you've done that day or the failed interactions you've had, he always lifts his head to give you something of a judgmental stare.
once you've settled down for the evening and turned on the TV, you decide that now is the time. Klimt is aimlessly poking at a few of his toys. he bats at a fake mouse between his paws.
"kitten," you click your tongue and get up to grab the jar. "are you ready to try this stuff?"
as if he's going to answer. he hears your footsteps coming back his way and watches patiently. it's only when you pour out a little bit in front of him that he gets curious about the stuff. you admire his movements as he bends down and examines.
although you keep an eye on him while watching your show, you don't notice much of a change in him. he starts to roll about on the floor, which is to be expected, but it's only when he starts to chase around his fake mouse that things get interesting.
you laugh as Klimt goes nuts, jumping back and attacking the thing like he's ready to come in for the kill. it's really funny, but you're interrupted by your phone buzzing. you told your friend that you were doing this tonight.
"hi!" you answer the FaceTime call right away.
"how is he?" you can hear the smile in Andi's voice as you turn the camera.
"he's loving it."
"oh my god," she laughs. Klimt arches his back, leaping so highly in the air, you raise your eyebrows. "I wonder how long it'll last." she muses.
"I'm guessing we'll get about an hour more of this before he passes out for the next two days." you joke. he gets strong bursts of energy usually, but they only last so long until he's curled up on the window sill or in your bed.
Andi and you talk for a while as Klimt tires himself out and plays with all of his favorite toys. you dangle a string in front of him for a decent amount of time, too, just to make him get up on his hindquarters. he's a natural entertainer, a lithe little thing who lets out a few irritated meows to demonstrate his impertinence.
after about forty-five minutes, however, you notice your cat's behavior change. he keeps raising his hackles and rolling about, and something about it makes you nervous. he doesn't usually act like this, not even when he plays with the other catnip toys he's accumulated.
"what's wrong?" Andi notes your furrowed brow as you look past the camera of your phone and at your pet.
"he's just acting really weird," you pat the couch cushion to call him over, but he doesn't even glance up. "I don't know why."
"maybe it's the cat weed." she suggests. you purse your lips and try to think.
"yeah, but nobody in the reviews ever mentioned anything like this."
"I'm sure he's fine, Y/N."
"yeah, I know..." but you're worried. Klimt is your pal, your cuddle buddy. as he rubs his cheek against the wooden floor, you feel guilt pool in your stomach. if he's hurt because of some dumb online purchase, you're never going to forgive yourself. "I'm gonna call the vet just to be sure."
"oh, okay," she sounds surprised, but doesn't try to stop you. "let me know what they say."
"I will." you hang up the phone and stare at your companion for a few seconds. he leaps into the air and does a somersault before letting out some deeply disturbing whine that reminds you to call the vet. better safe than sorry.
...
when the doorbell rings, you're practically twiddling your thumbs anxiously. Klimt hasn't settled at all, and you haven't even bothered to change out of your lounging ensemble. you're pretty sure you look a mess, but hopefully the person won't care too much.
you don't know who to expect-- your usual vet is an older woman who is friends with your mom, but her receptionist said she was out tonight and would send over another vet to check it out.
when you swing open the door, you immediately regret the decision to stay in sweatpants.
"hi, I'm Wes." the guy gives you a friendly smile and holds up his bag. it's almost comically old-fashioned, something out of an old movie, and you half-expect him to be wearing a stethoscope around his neck.
he's gorgeous, though. definitely a good amount older than you, tall with brown curls and stubble. his features stand out to you even under the porch light, and your mouth guppies idiotically.
"hi," you manage. his eyes flicker to your hand, which is seemingly blocking him from coming inside the house, and you jolt back a little to let him in. you clear your throat. "sorry."
as he steps inside and you close the door behind him, getting one tiny moment to yourself, your eyes widen. way to make yourself look like a bumbling fool.
"I heard that there's a tabby who got into some catnip?" you catch him looking around the front of your house, eyes catching on the framed photos before finding yours again. you can feel the heat creeping up your cheeks, but nod confidently.
"yeah, Klimt. he should still be in the living room."
"Klimt? like the artist?" he chuckles and follows you into the rest of the home. his voice has a nice timbre to it, something low and gentle that fits well with his occupation.
"yeah, exactly." you turn to smile at him.
you hear the cat before you see him. he's climbed to the top of his cat tree and leaps down onto the ground, paws hitting the surface in a way that can't have been comfortable. he chirps and looks up at Wes, whose lips are turned up with amusement.
"are you the man of the hour?" he asks, approaching the cat. Klimt's pupils get enormous and he prepares to pounce on the newcomer.
"careful--" you start to warn him, but the cat launches himself right into Wes' arms. the vet turns to you, holding him to his chest, and grins. warmth spreads over your skin with embarrassment. "sorry."
"no need to apologize," he starts to pet Klimt, who is only slightly struggling to escape. he wants to go wild again, but Wes isn't going to let go. "they call me the Cat Wrangler at the office."
"really?" you snort. he brings your pet over to the couch and sets him on the cushions, careful to keep him in place.
"no way." he shoots you a dazzling smile. the joke makes you giggle, and you feel yourself become even more self-conscious about the outfit you're wearing. this is just your luck, having hot guys come over when you distinctly look your worst.
Wes scratches between Klimt's ears and glances up at you again. "is there any reason in particular you're worried about the catnip?"
"yeah, actually," you nod, brought back to reality. "I know it's supposed to make them more playful, but he's just been acting weird and I got worried that there was something in it that messed with his head."
"can I see the container for it?" he asks. you go to grab the jar, only to remember that it proudly announces itself as cannabis for cats. profound embarrassment causes you to hesitate with the stuff in your hands.
it's not like he's here for you to flirt with, but you're still thinking about how stupid and young you're going to look with this stuff in front of him, a hot older guy who seems to have his life under control. you peek at him once more from the kitchen, at the way he smiles and starts to talk softly to Klimt as if he were a peer.
he's kinda crazy, and it makes you smile.
"it's cat weed." you hand him the glass container, and Wes breaks into a grin as he looks at the front.
"oh my gosh, I've heard about this!" his eyes move quickly over the label. you're in shock.
"really?"
"yeah, it's hilarious. here, can you make sure our friend here doesn't move while I read the ingredients?" he gestures. the knot of anxiety within you loosens a bit. you nod obediently, going to scoop up your pet and sit him on your lap. he's still squirmy, but he doesn't look ready to attack either of you, thankfully.
"hey, you." you greet your pal affectionately. his tail is wagging impatiently while Wes kneels on the ground beside the couch. there's a silver ring on his finger, but you notice with relief that it's not on his fourth one.
when he sets the jar down on the coffee table with the kind of smile that hints at some secret amusement, you frown. "what?"
"nothing," he shakes his head. "Klimt is gonna be totally fine."
"are you sure?" you pet the feline's smooth coat.
"definitely. you know how drugs affect people differently?" he asks. you want to say no, you don't know that because why would you, but then you remember that there is quite literally a glass-blown bowl sitting on your kitchen table.
"sure." you reply honestly.
"it's the same with cats: some just feel the effects a little more." he shrugs. you think this over for a second.
"that makes sense."
"yeah, I'd estimate about an hour more of this wildcat behavior before he takes a ten-hour nap." he cracks another joke and you find yourself totally charmed by him. something about the way he talks just makes your heart beat like crazy.
"that's a relief."
he chuckles and stands up, grabbing the bag (which he never even had to use) and starting to walk out of the living room. you can smell his delicious cologne as he moves past you.
"sorry for making you come out here so late." you apologize from the couch. Wes turns to look at you with an easygoing expression. his free hand is tucked into his pocket.
"no worries. you have a lovely home." he gestures to the kitchen, and then at the bowl sitting there in the open. you have to fight the smile on your face.
"thanks." you're smirking. right before he's about to head back out, you ask a question that's been wriggling around in your mind since he arrived. "why no title?"
"you mean, like, Doctor or something?" he stops in the threshold. one hand leans against it while he answers your question. you still can't get over how tall he is.
"sure. I mean, you are a doctor, right?" it comes out more dubious than you intended, but he doesn't get offended, only smiles.
"yes, I'm a doctor. I went to Davis." he points like the school is right outside your door. you nod.
"cool."
there's a silence where you just look at each other, and you forget that you look like you just rolled out of bed. he clears his throat.
"to answer your question, I just go by Wes because you're not my patient-- Klimt is." he points to the kitten, who is now chasing his own tail like a dog. you snort at the sight.
"how humble of you."
"I know, right?" he's joking. you find yourself not wanting him to leave, even though you've really just met. he's so sweet and funny and handsome... your stomach is flipping over and over like a schoolgirl.
and it's stupid that you can't think of one plausible reason for him to stay, but every step he takes shortens your time to think. so you just blurt, instead.
"would you want a beer?"
Wes pauses and looks at you, an unreadable expression on his face. "a beer?"
"yeah, I mean... you came all the way out here and I just feel bad for causing a fuss over nothing." you scramble slightly to justify your words. you don't ever drink beer-- do you even have any? god, this is embarrassing.
the vet checks the watch on his wrist, then smiles at you with a halting kind of enjoyment, before nodding. "sure."
"okay, great." you turn on your heel to hide the grin on your face. he follows you again to the kitchen area and leans against the counter while you open the fridge. the best form of flirting you can manage right now is bending over shamelessly and taking your time to poke around.
thankfully, there are three cold bottles left towards the back. you take out two and use the tool in one of your drawers to pop the tops off. he watches patiently, takes a sip when you hand the drink to him. your eyes meet.
"so, what prompted the cat weed purchase?" he starts the conversation effortlessly, and you try to keep your eyes from wandering over the shape of him. now that he's just standing in front of you, you're noticing the way his sweater sits against his frame, his long legs and the way his head rests on an elegantly-proportioned neck.
"I just saw it and thought it would be fun." you shrug honestly. he smiles.
"do you think you're gonna let him try it again another time?"
"I don't know," you cross your arms over your chest. "I'm a little nervous, but he also was having a lot of fun until I made him sit still."
"fair enough." you both turn your gazes to the cat. he's nudging a little toy ball with his nose and watching it roll across the floor. there are tiny bells inside that jingle. Wes turns back to you. "what do you do?"
"graphic designer."
"an artist." he raises his brows, impressed.
"not exactly saving animal lives, but I get by." you take another sip of your drink.
"it's not like that, mostly." he rolls his eyes playfully.
"then what's it like?"
"I just see and talk to people's pets all day. it's a pretty great job, even when it's not. you know?" he's optimistic about it. you're drawn to his positive energy, to the way he smiles when he speaks like he's preparing to deliver a witty joke.
you're hopelessly attracted to him, and the space between you is becoming unbearable. even though he's a guy you just met, you can feel in your gut that something about this is just right. you want his body against yours.
"you okay?" he breaks what you only now realize is a silence, and you blink to clear the dirty images from your mind.
"yeah." only thinking about you fucking me against a countertop. it must be the fact that you haven't gotten laid in a while or something, because you usually aren't this attracted to people within the first hour. it takes longer for you to even want to kiss them.
"what kind of stuff do you design?" he seems genuinely interested as he shifts and continues to nurse his drink.
"I work for a tech startup downtown, so it's a lot of website work to make sure it's navigable and pretty." you try to sum up your duties, but it's hard when his hazel eyes are so intent. he listens to every word.
"do you do personal work, too? like, just for you?"
"actually, yeah!" this sparks your excitement.
"can I see?" his smile widens. "only if you're comfortable, of course."
"sure." you're beaming.
he stays put as you start to go out of the kitchen, but then you smile. "you can come with."
"oh." he sets his beer down on the counter and follows you, slightly surprised. but you don't care; you were nervous before, but he's stayed for this long. maybe he wants you, too.
once you get to your bedroom, you're grateful that it's been freshly cleaned. there's even a bouquet from the flower's market sitting on your dresser, and you head over to the desk to sift through the drawers for what you want.
"cool room." he compliments from the threshold. he's careful not to make you uncomfortable, but also can't resist the curiosity that draws his gaze from wall to wall. you find the stack of papers and smile.
"thanks," you place the folder in his hands. "these are some printed versions of stuff I did last year."
Wes immediately begins to flip through the art. him seeing your stuff makes you nervous, so you pretend to focus on straightening up the few items that sit on your desk. you wipe your fingertip over a nonexistent film of dust.
"these are amazing," he says, holding a card stock copy in between his index and middle fingers. "holy shit."
"thank you." you're trying to keep from smiling too hard. you can tell that he's being genuine with his compliments, and it makes your heart swell.
"definitely. are you showing anywhere?"
"at an exhibit downtown a couple months back, but I've been so busy with work that personal stuff hasn't really been on the table, you know?"
he nods in understanding and continues to go through until the end. when he's finished, he looks up and sees you, his eyes concentrated. he doesn't speak at first, and an undercurrent ripples across the room. there are about three feet between you, and you have no excuse to lessen it.
he licks his lips slowly. you purse yours, unsure of what to say.
"I'm glad you called tonight." his voice is lower, slightly uncertain, like he's testing the boundaries. except you don't want boundaries right now. you want to go wild on him.
"me, too." you reply. it's in your eyes, that begging for him to do what you're scared to initiate.
your tongue is pressed to the back of your teeth in anticipation. and when he sets the art back on your desk and comes closer, you feel yourself give in. bubbles of excitement travel up your body as he grabs your face and bends down to kiss you.
it's full, passionate, not the kind of kiss you give someone you've just met. laced with desire and longing, you respond immediately. hands immediately run to his forearms, over his shoulders as he imposes beautifully on your form. it's so hard, you lean back slightly. your torso presses against his until he pushes you against the wall.
the slight gasp that escapes your lips causes him to smile, followed by your moan and clutching fingers. the material of his sweater, the taste of him mingled with that sophisticated, gentle smell of cologne that you want printed all over your skin.
"come here." he murmurs against your mouth and reaches down to the back of your thigh so you can hook your leg around his waist. you whine at the easy access he has to grind against your core, both of you desperate.
"Wes." you pant into his open mouth. he sucks on your bottom lip before finding your cheek and jaw. his fingertips tighten around your flesh.
"this feel good, sweetheart?" he checks in. coincidentally, his jeans grind against your panties at exactly the right spot and your hips jump. you release a pleasured yelp.
"mhmm."
"sounds like it." he latches onto your throat with a possessive excitement. you can feel him sucking and biting at the skin until you're positive there'll be marks tomorrow. you hope there are; purpled evidence of his touch. he digs his nails into your thighs. "you like it when older men touch you, baby?"
he blows over your tender throat before attacking it again. you sigh contentedly at the way he mingles sensations for your pleasure. "yes."
he grunts and nips at your collarbone, sliding the strap of your top down your shoulder so that he can effortlessly flutter his lips over the skin. you grip at him and toss your head back against the wall. his weight on yours is divine. it makes you weak, but that doesn't matter. he's practically holding you up at this point.
when his hand pushes under the hem of your shirt and dances over your stomach, you arch your back for more. he's gentle yet firm, pulling you close like he wants to breathe your oxygen. he's tracing over your ribcage, all the way up to the valley of your breasts, before cupping one and moaning into your shoulder.
he kisses you again with an aching hunger that can't be satiated. your tongues meet and Wes finds your hardened nipples beneath the thin fabric of your bralette. you sigh while he starts to circle one with his thumb.
"you're perfect." he breathes.
you want to bask in this moment, to enjoy the shock across your skin when he reaches his hand back down between your bodies to dip below the waistband of your sweatpants, but you're just so greedy. he could make you cum over and over and it would never be enough.
"what do you want me to do to you?" Wes is hovering over your lower stomach, dangerously close to where you need him most. he's teasing. the warmth of his skin drives you mad. his breath brushes over the shell of your ear.
"fuck me." it's the only response you can fathom. every other instinct in your body flies out the window and is replaced by a craving to sink your proverbial (and literal) teeth into him.
but he loves it, apparently, because he pushes you back against the wall with a nearly bruising force. "I can do that."
with those words, he quickly grabs your other leg and lifts you into his arms, bringing you to the bed and laying you delicately on the mattress while you giggle. you stare up at him with an almost daydreamy lust. his cheeks are flushed.
you only get a second of that heavenly sight, though, before he dips down and pushes your shirt up to see your tits and kiss up the chasm between your ribs. his stubble tickles your skin, which causes you to smile.
by the time he's pulled your sweatpants off and tossed them to the side, you're whining for him to strip down as well.
"what is it, pretty girl?" he murmurs against your tummy. when you try to squeeze your thighs, he pushes them apart.
"I wanna see you." your fingertips touch at his sweater. he chuckles and pulls the garment over his head. it messes up his perfect hair even more and you love it, tangling your fingers in it. he bites his lip.
"do you want me to taste you first?" he keeps stroking the inside of your thighs and staring down at the skimpy lace that you're positive that you've already soaked. you're making him crazy with the way you roll your hips against air, against nothing, seeking any kind of stimulation.
"I can't wait." you shake your head. as nice as it would be, you're going to implode if he doesn't fill you up soon. he drags his fingers down your clothed slit and groans when he feels just how ready you are for him.
"let's take these off then, okay, sweetheart?" he hooks his fingers in the panties and waits for you to nod before tugging them down your legs. you whimper at the cool air that hits your core, soaked and needy. Wes stares at your body on display for him.
as he gets back up from the floor to kiss you again, you both work to remove the rest of his clothes. his skin is perfect under your hands. his chest is warm, solid, and when he climbs on top of you, his arms rest on either side of your head.
one hand comes down to grab his own cock and stroke it a few times before lowering himself to rub it against your throbbing clit. you whimper at the pressure; he's mindless when he feels how easily you cover him in your essence.
"so fucking wet..." he groans while rutting against you.
"Wes, please--" your breath hitches. "put it in."
"begging?" he teases your entrance with the head and smirks. "good girl."
"mhmm." you're smiling, but your mouth drops open when he pushes himself inside.
it's a heavy feeling, him filling you up. he's thick and the stretching of your walls makes him groan and rest his head on your shoulder. he kisses the skin there while diving deeper into your body.
you're shaking slightly from the mixture of pain and pleasure, his size forcing your body to work quickly to accommodate. your eyes are squeezed shut, but you run your hands over his back and shoulders to stay grounded. it feels like a dream.
he starts to pull out, coated in your wetness while you whimper below him, and he grabs your face with one hand in a dominant, soft gesture. "okay?"
"yeah."
he pushes back in. the air in your lungs is practically gone at this point, he's so deep inside. your eyes roll back and push your hips up to take him at a new angle. Wes finds his pace easily, rocking into your body at a manageable pace to let you get used to the sensation.
every time his hips roll down and he buries himself in you, he presses on your clit and sends a new shock through your body. he leans on his elbows to get closer and feel every undulation of your body. you love how his thrusts force your legs apart, how he moans your name and causes the headboard to repeatedly hit the wall while maintaining eye contact. hazel irises that rake over your features with lust.
"you feel so good." he speeds up a little when he hits a certain spot. you can feel him deep and hard, causing a small bump to rise in your stomach with each stroke. his voice is husky and dark. like a man starved.
"fuck..." you drag your nails down his back. he groans at the red marks that you will no doubt leave for him.
"clingy thing, huh?" he sucks at your throat affectionately. "I come over for one thing and you can't help yourself."
hearing Wes speak through his own panting is like listening to a secret, and you never want it to stop. he's reveling in the sordid crush of his own wants, and the way he shoves into you shows you that he has no intention of slowing down for a while.
"I'm impatient." you smirk. he pulls away to admire your expression.
"so am I." he kisses your lips and starts to pound into you. the juxtaposition of his tenderness and the sharp snap of his hips to yours fills you with butterflies. you love how much he wants to ruin you.
"Wes-- oh my god!" you whimper. he grabs your hips and yanks them closer to him so he can go as deep as possible, so he can hit your cervix.
"that's right, sweetheart," he pants. you can tell that he's starting to lose control. "say my name. I want everyone to know what a good little slut you are for me."
the commanding tone makes your body shake. "I- I'm cumming, Wes, please--"
"please what, baby?" he taunts. his index finger is tracing over your jaw.
you don't know what it is that you're wanting, except more. as your form shudders and tightens, walls fluttering around his cock, you lose the capacity to speak. you grind your hips against him and cry out pathetically while he pushes you back down and slams ruthlessly into your pussy.
"cum inside-- please, I need it--" you writhe. he groans at the request.
"fuck, yes..." he sheathes himself. "take it."
you gasp as he repeatedly hits your weakest point and spills hot ropes of his cum inside you, still thrusting in and out and whimpering into your shoulder at the clenching sensation you give his cock. it's warm, strangely delightful, nearly sending you into another orgasm sheerly from the sight.
he mutters unintelligibly as he empties himself in your pussy, but you catch a growled "so needy," between deep moans. you're clinging to him like you'll never have it again. you might not.
he slows down, giving shallower thrusts while riding out his high and shoving his cum deeper inside. it turns lazy and messy, both of you panting, before he finally pulls out and rolls over next to you.
you press the back of your hand to your forehead. it's sweaty from all the work he just put you through, but you feel amazing at the same time. your eyes keep flickering from the ceiling above to his rising and falling chest beside you. his nose twitches; he turns his head to look at your face.
although you expect him to say something, he doesn't. instead, you just stare at each other. the air conditioner rattles gently in the background. you're not sure how long this lasts, this soaking in, but he's the first to break it.
"hey."
you find the corners of your lips turning up. "hi."
"do you mind if I go get something to clean you up?" he asks softly, his fingertips finding your forearm with ease and drifting over it.
"sure. bathroom is the first door on the left."
he gets up and you watch him gather his clothes, eyes glued to his perfect form. you can't believe you just had sex with your veterinarian. you don't regret it at all.
he wanders out of the room and your eyes follow, only to see Klimt sitting patiently by the door.
"what are you doing, perv?" you tease as he comes over and leaps up onto the bed. his kitten paws pad over the blankets and settle into the crook of your arm. you smile to yourself, recalling how sweet the vet was with him. "hey, Wes?" you call out.
"yeah?" he comes back into the room with a warm washcloth and a small smile on his face.
"would you wanna get coffee or something sometime?" you bite your lip. maybe he doesn't want to go on a date, but it's worth a shot.
"sure." he breaks into a grin that makes you giddy. thank god, because you really were hoping to see him again.
you can't wait.

tulips
Tumblr media
(this gif has nothing to do with the imagine, but i love it so here it is)
summary: you’ve had a crush on miguel since he first came to west valley high, but you never worked up the courage to say anything to him, until he wakes up from his coma.
word count: 1,708 words
you walked into the hospital, a bouquet of red tulips in your hand. “hi. i’m looking for miguel diaz,” you said to the receptionist. “are you family?” she asked politely. “um no, but i-” you began but the woman cut you off. “i’m sorry but only family is allowed in right now,” she said. you frowned at her words, looking sadly at the tulips and card in your hand. you were about to leave when someone from behind you said, “no, no she’s with me.”
you looked over to see a beautiful woman with curly black hair. the receptionist smiled at the two of you, gesturing for the two of you to go ahead in. “thanks for helping me out back there,” you said once the two of you were in the elevator. “oh of course! i’m sure miguel would want his girlfriend to come and see him anyways,” she said, placing a hand on your shoulder. “oh um we aren’t-” you started, but you were cut off by the elevator doors opening.
sure you liked miguel, and you’ve had a crush on him for awhile now, but miguel didn’t even know who you were, let alone know about your crush. when you had decided to bring miguel flowers and a card today, you weren’t expecting to meet his mother, and you definitely weren’t expecting her to call you miguel’s girlfriend. you weren’t really sure what to say to ms. diaz as she led you into miguel’s hospital room. standing over him was an older woman, who was talking to him in spanish. ms. diaz said something to the older woman that you didn’t understand, but they both looked at you with bright smiles after that. “we’ll leave you two alone. he can hear everything you say,” she said before the two of them left the room.
you stood there awkwardly for a moment, eyes glancing over the many cuts and bruises that adorned miguel’s body. you gently traced the top of his hand with your finger tips, before pulling away. “what am i even doing here?” you mumbled, looking down at the tulips and card in your hand. “you don’t even know me,” you said looking at miguel. you stayed silent for a few minutes, debating on whether or not you should just leave and never come back.
you were about to walk out of the room, gifts still in hand when miguel’s grandmother entered. she placed a comforting hand on your back, guiding you over to miguel’s hospital bed. she didn’t say anything to you as she grabbed the tulips and put them in a vase on his bedside table along with your card. she smiled at you, gesturing to miguel. you nodded your head, smiling softly at her, as she left the room, satisfied at the outcome of the unspoken conversation.
you took a deep breath before talking to him, “hey miguel. it’s um y/n, we have math and ela together. originally i was just stopping by to drop off some flowers. red tulips, they’re my favorite flower, so i thought you would like them. um your mom saw me downstairs, talking to the receptionist, and she told me to come up with her. i’m pretty sure she thinks i’m your girlfriend, but don’t worry i’ll tell her we aren’t together. anyways i better go now, but keep fighting okay?” you rambled. you looked at miguel one more time before leaving his room.
you never did end up telling ms. diaz, who insisted that you call her carmen, and yaya that you and miguel weren’t together. every time you tried the two would just laugh and say that there was no need for you to feel shy about your relationship with miguel. Despite everything, you still ended up coming to visit miguel every other day, bringing a new bouquet of tulips when needed, which is how miguel found out about you when he woke up from his coma.
“miguel your friend demetri, i think, dropped off this comic book for you,” carmen said as she walked into his hospital room. miguel looked up from the card he was reading, nodding at his mother’s words. She put the book on his bedside table with his many other gifts, looking over at the vase of tulips from your last visit a few days ago. “aw these flowers are getting old,” carmen noted and miguel nodded in agreement. “yeah. thanks for bringing those by the way. they really help brighten up the room,” he said.
carmen only smiled at the boy, shaking her head. “i didn’t bring them, your girlfriend did,” she answered. miguel’s eyebrows furrowed at her statement because last time he checked, he didn’t have a girlfriend. “she comes in every couple of days to bring you a new bouquet of tulips and talk to you. she’s so sweet,” his mother continued gushing about his so called girlfriend. meanwhile miguel sat wondering who this mystery girl could be. was it sam? maybe even tory? he was about to ask his mother but he was interrupted by the nurse’s arrival.
it's been a couple of days since your last visit with miguel. you had some school work to catch up on, but you were able to come today, bringing a new bouquet of tulips and a tupperware container of brownies for carmen and yaya with you. “hey miguel i-” you started, but you stopped at the sight of miguel sitting up watching tv. his eyes instantly turned to you and you blushed at his intense stare. “oh uh hi miguel, i didn’t know you were awake,” you said awkwardly, shuffling your feet. miguel just stared at you quietly, unsure as to why you were here since the two of you never really talked. “um i’m y/n. we have math and ela together. anyways i just brought some new tulips and some brownies for your mom and yaya,” you explained, walking into his room.
miguel slowly began to put the pieces together. you were his ‘girlfriend’. you sat behind him in math and ela, but he’s talked to you a few times while doing group work. just from those conversations he knew that you were extremely smart, caring, and sweet. honestly he wasn’t surprised to see that you were the one visiting him because it just seemed so in character for you.
miguel didn’t say anything, so you just smiled at him before fully entering the room. you moved to replace the tulips, and set the brownies down on his table. “so you’re the one who’s been bringing me flowers?” miguel asked, and you nodded your head shyly. “that means you’re also my mystery girlfriend,” he continued, a cocky smile on his face as your blush made another appearance. “oh right about that,” you started but you were interrupted by carmen and yaya. “y/n! there you are! we were starting to worry about you!” carmen exclaimed and you were pulled into a tight hug by her and yaya.
you ended up staying to visit miguel for a couple of hours, and miguel would be lying if he said that he wasn’t sad to see you leave. out of everyone who came to visit him so far, you were the only person who hadn’t brought up the accident. instead you told him about what was going on at school and the latest gossip. in fact that’s what you were doing right now, a couple days later.
“so becky’s single now,” you explained and miguel nodded his head in understanding. “speaking of being single and relationships, why do my mom and yaya think you’re my girlfriend?” miguel asked curiously. “i’m not sure why they think i’m your girlfriend, but i understand why it can come off that way,” you started and miguel just raised his eyebrows at your words, a silent plea for you to continue. “oh don’t give me that look. why else would some random girl show up to the hospital with a bouquet of flowers?” you asked, and miguel chuckled at your words. “so that answers why they think we’re together. i guess i’m just confused as to why you came to see me in the first place?” miguel asked, looking at you with his brown puppy dog eyes.
you were silent for a moment, debating on whether or not to tell miguel about your feelings. ultimately you decided that you owed him that much, as an explanation. “look miguel, i like you a lot. i have since the first day you walked into west valley high. but then you joined cobra kai and got popular, and well i’m not, so i never said anything. when the whole fight at the school happened i watched as you fell from the stairs and i realized that i might have lost my chance with you. so i decided to bring you flowers and a card, which explained everything, but the receptionist wouldn’t let me in. your mom saw me and i guess she thought that i was your girlfriend, so she told me to come with her. then i met yaya and both of them were really excited that you had a girlfriend and i couldn’t-” miguel interrupted your rambling with a gentle kiss on your lips.
of course he had read your card, and he already knew everything that you were telling him, but he wanted to hear you say it. reading your words and hearing them were two different things. both helped him realize that he liked you too, but he just couldn’t put two and two together. sure miguel might have liked sam and tory at one point in his life, but he always liked you, he just didn’t know it, until now. hearing you say that you liked him, was all he needed to validate his feelings for you.
“i like you too y/n,” he said when you pulled apart. “wait really?” you asked him. “really,” miguel answered, grabbing a hold of your hand. you smiled gently at him as he placed a kiss on your cheek. so the two of you sat there, together, talking about anything and everything. it’s a good thing tulips represent a perfect and deep love.

You don't know how but somehow training with Yelena always ended up with you being pinned down on the training mat.
"Fuck" you cursed frustrated as she pinned you down for the 3d time in a row. Yelena laughed before she stood up and held out her hand for you to take.
"I let you win!" You said as she pulled you up.
"Sure you did" she joked.
"Seriously. I let you stomp on my dignity because I have a favor to ask!" you said back, a goofy grin playing on your lips as you passed her one of the water bottles.
"Now, that's gonna be interesting" she said as she sat on the floor, her back facing the wall. She gratefully took the bottle from your hand as she waited for you to talk.
"be my girlfriend" you said. The two of you were always comically stupid, so of course that you said that at the same moment she was taking a gulp from her bottle and of course she choked- and of course you laughed.
"I'm Sorry" the blonde glared at you.
"You're not" she responded in between coughing.
After a few moments, she finally stopped coughing and your laugh dyed out as well.
"You're right. I wasn't." You laughed again and she shoved you playfully.
"So, did you seriously just asked me to be your girlfriend?" She asked. Her lips forming her famous-troubled-maker cheeky grin.
"Well.. my fake girlfriend to be exact" you corrected yourself and she laughed again.
"You know you could've started with that, right?"
"And what's the fun in that?"
You smirked at her, knowing full well she found the random question amusing.
"So Why me, anyway..? - Wait, Let me guess.. kate and carol said no and you're scared of Wanda?"
"Okay first I'm not scared of Wanda, I'm scared of your sister.. there's a difference. And Second; my parents in town.. and I kinda told them I have a girlfriend.."
"Oh, now that's classic" Yelena, obviously, found the situation hilarious and you couldn't blame her since you found this dumb conversation amusing as well.
"Does it mean you'll do it?" You asked.
"Yeah why not" she responded you raised an eyebrow at her waiting for the catch. With Yelena, there's always a catch or at least a stupid comment.
"Yeah. I want to meet the poor souls who had to deal with your stupidity on a daily basis for the last 20 years..."
And here it is. You thought.
"I will punch you" you threaten her.
"Kinky" she smirked.
"Whatever stupid. I'll pick you up tomorrow at 8" you said as you got up from the spot next to her.
"Wear something nice"
_______________________________
The thing about Yelena is that you can never know what to expect. No matter how much time you spent with her, and it was a lot, she somehow still managed to surprise you.
This time was no different. but in her defense, this time the blame is definitely on you. You saw Yelena wear different kinds of outfits, from gear to fancy dresses, yet for some reason, you just didn't expect the other girl to wear a suit, and damn she looked good.
The gray suit fit her perfectly and her long blonde hair was down. She looked painfully beautiful and you couldn't help but stare- and she couldn't help but notice.
She wasn't doing better, on your defense. The blonde checked you out shamelessly before she sent you a smirk "How lucky I am" she joked and you rolled your eyes.
"Very lucky.. and so am i" Yelena smiled at you and held her hand out for you to take.
The ride was short and 15 minutes later you were standing outside the restaurant.
You could feel Yelena's gaze on you as you bit your lip nervously. "It will be alright" she assured you as she interviewed your hands together. "Thank you" you looked at her gratefully "Don't sweat it" she replayed with a soft smile.
That was the thing about Yelena, people always misguided her for someone she wasn't and it always made you mad. God, Of course, she was strong and fierce and brave and absolutely terrifying at times- but She was so much more than that. She was sweet and loyal and caring, and kinda funny (don't tell her) and absolutely beautiful- inside and out. One of your favorite things about her was her shy and sincere smile, which seemed reserved only for you.
"You ready?" She squeezed your hand. you took a small shaky breath before smiling back at her. "As ready as ill ever be"
The restaurant wasn't busy and it didn't take you long to catch your parents in a corner in the far back of the room. Both smiling wide as you walked towards them. Your mother's smile was contagious and you couldn't help but smile back. God, you missed them.
"We've missed you so much" your father said as he hugged you, your mother doing the same.
"I've missed you too" you confessed before tugging Yelena forwards them.
"I'm assuming that's the girlfriend," Your father said and you nodded. God, You were nervous and Yelena could sense it as she reached for your father's hand.
"Yelena." She introduced herself As they shook hands. Her grip firm and her smile dazzling. "I'm Y/D/N and this is my wife Y/M/N" he introduced himself as well.
"Glad to finally meet you. I heard a lot of great things about you" She said with a confident smile.
Both of you could tell the older man was impressed by the blonde and you couldn't help but smile.
"Were happy to finally meet you as well- although we can't say the same since pumpkin over here hasn't said much about you"
Yelena smirked at you as you blushed deeply. You knew she wouldn't let you forget about the nickname. Like, never. "Yeah, it's actually pretty new. It wasn't really planned neither" she explained.
Your mother, God bless her, wasn't the one to shook hands. The moment Yelena was free from your father's grip she found herself in the woman's warm embrace.
"Okay... I think we should start ordering" you said when Yelena was free again. Her cheeks were a bit flushed. The Russian Assassin wasn't used to be hugged and you couldn't help but smile.
The conversation was light, the wine was good and most importantly, your parents loved Yelena. which was understandable considering the fact she was annoyingly charming.
The Yelena that sat next to you with her hand on your lap was the best version the blonde could pull and you felt stupid for being worried in the first place. Yelena led the conversation with politeness, charm, and grace that you never knew she had in her- and your mom seemed impressed. Impressing your dad was even easier- Yelena didn't even have to try, all she had to do was show her intelligence and add some light humor.
After an hour of light and mostly general conversation, amazing food, many embarrassing stories of you on both sides, and 2 glasses of wine, your mom decided to take the conversation into her hands.
"So Yelena. Tell us about yourself."
Oh boy. Now that might be a problem.
"Well... I joined the avengers a few months ago" she explained "Not long after I met your daughter actually," she said simply.
"That's nice, and before that?" The older woman asked.
"I was a freelance.." Yelena gulped. Her hand squeezes yours
"As?" Your mom asked. You knew she didn't try to push Yelena into this corner, she wasn't this kind of person, but she definitely put the blonde on the spot.
"Well... I was involved with the black market and different criminal organizations. Jobs like getting undercover to dig information or well.. getting rid of powerful men in the criminal world.."
Your parent's eyes went wide. Your dad stared at her with wide eyes and your mom cleared her throat.
"I don't do it anymore" she continued. The blonde seemed as nervous as you felt.
"How did you ended up in this line of work? If I may ask?"
"Mom I don't think-" you started and Yelena smiled at you.
"No, It's fine babe.." she said before moving her attention back to your parents "Sometimes life gets you to places where you have to do bad things to survive."
Your dad's expression was unreadable and your mom seemed worried as she glanced at you.
"Yelena and I met when her sister recruited and pulled her out of this life. Yelena is a good person, despite everything she's been through. That's what I love the most about her." You said.
Yelena smiled softly and your parents exchanged looks.
"I'm a different person now" Yelena promised
"We believe you... but I can't help but worry for my daughter, as you can surely understand. What if the people you've been involved with. Try to get to you through Y\N"
Your father asked calmly. Both were taking it better than you expected and you couldn't blame them for being worried.
"Dad. I know it might come as shocking.. but I'm a big girl and I'm well aware of the risk of being involved with Yelena. I need you to trust me when I say that risks, some worse than the mafia, were a part of my life long before we met."
Yelena bit her lip to hold a smile and you interviewed your hands again.
"You're a doctor" your mom argued "I'm a field doctor. Of the avengers." you corrected her. "which means I'm more of capable of taking care of myself."
Your dad nodded softly to your mom before he smiled at you. "You're are.. Don't you?" He laughed. "Mu little pumpkin.." he sIgh and your mother smiled as well
"I just want you to understand that all we want for you is to be safe and happy. And even a blind man can see Yelena gives you that." He sent Yelena a soft smile. Yelena smiled back at him.
"Take care of my daughter.. she's a keeper" your father said firmly.
"She is. And trust me, I will" she promised.
_______________________________
"Well, that went well" you laughed when you got into the passenger seat. Yelena volunteered to drive which was a relief since you were exhausted.
After the two of you got into your seats the blonde sent you a small smile and took something out of her pocket.
"Is that? A bullet..?" You asked confused as you took the copper cylinder from her hand.
Yelena laughed softly.
"It is. It's the same bullet you stopped me from shooting at Natasha"  she confessed.
"I was in such a bad place back then and I blamed Natasha for it. If it weren't for you things would've been very different now" Yelena whispered
"Yeah, both of you were dead since you would've shot her, and Wanda would've probably hunted you down and kill you" you laughed and Yelena's shoulders relaxed.
"Probably" she said. "But with all seriousness... I was aiming a gun at my own sister and instead of pulling your own gun at me, you decided to shield her with your own body and dare me to shoot you as well. Who does that!?."
"You thought I was insane" you laughed.
"I thought you were stupid, putting your life at risk to save someone fucked up like us! someone like me.." She confessed and it downed on you.
No matter what happened or how many good things Yelena had done in her life, she couldn't let go of who she was trained to be. She still blamed herself for all the terrible things she did back at the red room and she constantly tried to get closure by doing the exact opposite- which was probably the reason she killed all these bad men in the first place. But then Natasha came back for her, and Yelena blamed her for leaving her behind to live with the things they did. She felt betrayed and broken, and Natasha's return only made it worse. Like she was just pitting her broken sister.
"All I know is that the Yelena I stood up to and the Natasha I saved that day were not the villains the red room tried to create." You whispered.
"You truly believed that? Even then?" Yelena was crying softly and you cupped her cheek.
"Especially then! I know you don't see it, but I'm here to remind you, you're a good person. Truly. You have a good heart- and I've seen it"
Yelena's cheeks were stained with tears, her eyes red and puffy and her famous crooked smile was plastered on her lips.
"And that's why you love me?"
She was a mess just like back then- when she was aiming a gun at her own sister as who she thought she was and who she truly is were fighting for dominance.
She was tragically beautiful and scared both then and now, yet somehow at the same time, she was more sure and confident than ever before. And I guess that what life is all about. Sometimes, things start to make sense only when everything else doesn't.
"Wasn't it obvious, stupid?" You said and stroked her cheek carefully as she melted into your touch.
Yelena smiled before kissing your hand softly, without breaking eye contact with you.
"You're the stupid one and you know it. Taking an assassin as your dinner date." She joked and you nodded and looked briefly at her lips.
"Well, stupid or not, I still manage to get a kiss at the end of it." Yelena laughed and got closer to you.
"Yeah you did" she whispered and kissed you.
And that was the thing about Yelena. She was good and kind and loyal. And a damn good kisser.

Lovely Arrow, a random plot bunny appeared and I just know you could do it justice: what if Franny has some friends over at Mickey and Ian's place when she's older and one of them is new to the group and wants to learn a little more about her uncles? And Franny starts waxing poetic about how they're made for each other and complement each other so well and both Ian and Mickey overhear and it makes them tear up a little. Just a thought 😋🥰
Evie, thank you! I've decided that Franny's friends love her uncles almost as much as she does, so that's kind of where this went.
---
“Why are we here again?” Tiffany asks as they crowd onto the stoop of the little southside worker’s cottage. Franny doesn’t bother to answer as she knocks on the door, but one of the other girls takes pity.
“It’s her Uncle’s house,” Susan says. “Jesus, Tiff, pay attention.”
Well, not too much pity. There was a reason she’d never been invited before, after all.
“Yikes, Suze,” Tiffany mutters with a frown. “I just meant why weren’t we at her actual house.”
“Because my actual house is loud as shit,” Franny finally chimes in, not even looking back. “My mom gets lonely so we live with like three other families, it’s a nightmare for schoolwork.”
“You’d have known that if you paid any attention,” Susan adds, and they all ignore Tiffany’s pout.
It doesn’t last long anyway, because the door creaks open not a moment later.
“Hey Fran,” Ian says from the other side. His hair is longer than usual right now, and looks windswept—or like someone had been carding hands through it all morning. His shirt was tight-fitting and a little too short, like it didn’t belong to him, and the socks on his feet didn’t match.
“Hey Uncle Ian,” Franny greets, then gestures to her friends. “It still cool if we take over the living room for a bit? This group paper is a beast.”
“Of course,” Ian agrees with a wide smile. “Anything to help my favorite niece.” He opens the door wider to let them in.
“Nice to see you all again,” he says as they start to file inside. “John, Rachel,” he greets them individually. “Susan, that new haircut is fantastic, I told you it would be.”
“Thanks, Mr. Gallagher,” Susan says with a grin, tucking a loose curl behind her ear.
Ian grimaces at her, playfully.
"Ian, please," he begs. "I've never met a Mr. Gallagher I didn't want to punch."
Susan giggles, and moves inside.
“I don’t think I’ve met you,” Ian says with a thoughtful frown when it's Tiffany's turn, and Franny jumps in with an introduction.
“Uncle Ian, this is Tiff,” she says. “She got put with us for the project.”
“Nice to meet you,” Ian says, and holds out a hand.
Tiffany takes it, and when Ian lets go, her hand just hovers there.
“Make yourselves at home,” Ian says as he closes the door behind them. “I’ll be in the other room if you need anything, but—
“Try not to need anything,” they all chorus, with the exception of Tiffany.
“Good kids,” Ian laughs, and then he’s gone, disappearing through the archway that leads through to the rest of the house.
They settle quickly. John and Rachel take the love seat, as they’re always wont to do, sitting just a little too close. Rachel giggles as their knees brush, and Franny rolls her eyes at John’s blush.
She takes her own usual spot next to Susan on the floor, notebooks spread out across the ottoman, and startles when Tiffany suddenly appears on her other side.
“Dude,” Tiffany hisses, poking Franny in the shoulder. “Your uncle is so hot.”
Franny frowns, staring down at the wrinkle Tiffany left on her sleeve.
“Yeah,” she says idly as she smooths it. “So I’ve heard.”
“I mean I mean I always thought red hair looked weird--no offence," she tacks on hastily, "but it really works for him."
Franny focuses on arranging her things to avoid smacking Tiffany in the face.
"Does he have a girlfriend?” Tiffany asks, biting her lip. She toys with the ends of her over-crimped hair, bright nail polish flashing between blonde strands.
“No,” Franny answers, and doesn’t give Tiffany any time to think about that before adding, “he has a husband.”
Tiffany pouts, shimmery pink lips sticking out comically. Franny exchanges a look with Susan, who mimics the expression in a way that has Franny trying to swallow her laughter.
“So not fair,” Tiffany whines beside them, crossing her arms. “Why are all the cute ones taken?”
“Hey!” John protests from across the room, but they all ignore him except for Rachel, who hits him with her three-ring binder.
“Mickey would probably kill you for looking at him,” Susan chimes in, “so you should probably keep your eyes to yourself anyway.”
“Yeah,” Rachel agrees, even as she rubs John’s arm in apology. “He’s been to jail, you know.”
“Ew,” Tiffany says, wrinkling her nose. “There’s no way he deserves someone like Ian, then.”
Franny grips her pencil too tightly. Susan sends her a warning look, but she ignores it.
“Actually,” she says casually, hiding her irritation, “they’re perfect for each other.”
Tiffany‘s brow wrinkles.
“No way,” she disagrees. “You Uncle seems so sweet, he deserves someone nice at least.”
Franny’s pencil snaps.
“Shit, she’s done it now,” John mutters.
“Uncle Mickey is nice,” Franny grits out between clenched teeth. “He’s a hell of a lot nicer than you, actually.”
“Franny—” Rachel tries to interrupt, but Susan cuts in over her.
“She’s not wrong,” Susan says. “You’re in the man’s home, Tiff, have a little tact.”
“Besides,” John speaks up, “Mickey is great. He helped me with my math homework last week.”
“Come on!” Tiffany cries. “There’s no way some ex-con should be married to that hunk out there.”
“Ian’s an ex-con too, though,” Susan says. “Right, Fran?”
Franny smiles.
“That’s right,” she confirms gleefully. “They were in jail together, actually.”
Tiffany pales.
“No way,” she mumbles, but they aren’t done.
“Yeah, it’s the most romantic story!” Rachel all but squeals. “Mickey wasn’t even in the country, but he heard Ian needed him and he came right back!”
“They’d been together for like, years already,” John contributes. “High school sweethearts or something like that.”
Rachel latches onto him at that, and he flushes again.
“And they take such good care of each other,” Susan adds. “Last time I was here Ian wasn’t feeling too good, and Mickey made us all be quiet so he could sleep. Then I helped him make some soup, ‘cause he isn’t good at that stuff.”
Tiffany is biting her lip again, staring at them each in turn.
“But Ian seems so—”
“In love with his husband?” Franny cuts her off dryly. “Sounds right to me.”
The others all agree, but Franny isn’t done.
“My Uncles have the best relationship I’ve ever seen,” Franny continues, “and I was a little kid for most of it. So if you think they’re gonna care what some random kid their niece hangs out with thinks about their marriage…” she trails off.
Tiffany’s eyes are downcast.
“Didn’t mean anything by it,” she mutters, then looks up through her eyelashes. “Sorry.”
Silence, broken by Franny’s tired sigh.
“It’s okay, I guess,” she says. Then she hands Tiffany her notebook. “Here, you can write the introduction.”
——-
Behind a half-closed door down the hall, Mickey stands quietly, eyes wide. He startles when the door creaks open an extra inch, Ian slipping inside.
Ian’s eyes are soft when they fall on his face, and Mickey blinks hurriedly to hide the wetness in his own.
“You heard all that, I take it?” Ian whispers, and Mickey nods.
“Yeah,” he says hoarsely. “Kind of hard not to, those kids are fucking banshees.”
Ian laughs, soft and quiet.
“Banshees that love you,” he says, stepping closer. “As they should,” he adds when Mickey lets him wrap strong arms around him.
“Sounds like one of ‘em loves you more,” Mickey mumbles into Ian’s chest, and it shakes as Ian huffs.
“She’ll learn,” he says, holding Mickey tighter. “They all do eventually.”
“That I’m the better husband?” Mickey jokes, even as he rubs his face into the fabric of his own shirt over Ian’s broad chest.
“That we’re best together,” Ian corrects, and Mickey smiles.
“Yeah,” he breathes out, pressing a kiss to Ian’s sternum.
“Yeah, we really are.”

If Only...
Part one: ‘Keepin’ Secrets’
Fezco x Lexi Howard; Lexi Howard & Maddy Perez [Euphoria Season 2]
Warnings: SPOILERS for some events in Euphoria S2, Swearing, Arguments, Friendship Ruined/Betrayal, Crying
Genre: Romance, Platonic Fluff, Hurt/Comfort
Summary: If only Lexi’s night could’ve come to a close with that kiss she shared with Fezco.... Or - what if Maddy was told about Cassie’s affairs with Nate by someone else...
Requested by Anon and many other readers who thought the fic was worthy of a sequel. Thank you all so much for the support and patience with my slow and hectic posting schedule but here is the part 2 y’all have been waiting for! Love, Vy ❤
If only her life were a movie. If only it could fade to black and cut to the following morning right after her and Fez pulled away from the kiss they shared practically in the middle of a street. If only she didn’t have to endure what was yet to come.
And it came in the form of an almost comically pissed-off blond storming into hers and Lexi’s shared room mere minutes after Lexi herself returned.
“What the fuck was that, Lexi?!“ The shrill of Cassie’s voice has reached unbearable heights but it’s not something the younger sister isn’t used to.
“Quiet!“ She hisses in response from her spot in front of the mirror where she’s taking off her make-up - curtesy of Maddy - “You’ll wake mom up!“
“I don’t care! Why do you? What, you’re afraid she’ll find out her precious little girl is messing around with the local drug dealer? How do you think she’ll react, Lex? You think she’ll be happy?“ Cassie seems to have forgotten the concept of ‘personal space‘ because she’s now literally looming over Lexi, standing over her while the brunette is still kneeling on the floor, unbothered.
The momentary silence is only a result of the cotton pad swiping across Lexi’s lips, she knows exactly what to say, but first she takes her time taking the wine red lipstick off, feeling a decent dose of guilt as she does so. Maddy put in a ton of work into it...oh God, Maddy. How the hell would she react if she ever found out? Lexi worries she might be left an only child if that ever comes to happen.
Pushing that thought back for later contemplation, Lexi stands up, now at eye level with her sister who is a lot more riled up than her - probably cause she knows how easily the younger girl can flip her life upside down.
“How I think she’ll react? Well, probably better than when you told her you were pregnant. Probably a lot better than Maddy will react when she finds out.“ Lexi emphasizes her wording so it doesn’t fly over her sister’s head and hits her as a direct threat.
“So what, you’re threatening me now? You’re really gonna snitch on me?“ The desperation and fear in her voice, although minor, doesn’t fly under Lexi’s radar.
She, still unbothered, walks away to the other side of the room to start changing, very evidently dismissive of her sister and whatever garbage comes out of her mouth, “I do what’s right, Cassie. The right thing would be to snitch on you.”
“On your own fucking sister, huh Lex?!“ The blonde’s high heels click viciously against the floor, a sound so annoying Lexi can barely stand it. “Wow, Lexi, just wow! Look at you being Miss Righteous. I don’t think you’ve got any moral high ground here - you’re as morally ambiguous as I am! What do you see in him? Is it the fact that he supplied your best friend to the brink of death, or that he probably supplies dad too? Is that poetically deep to you or something? Cause let me tell you, Lexi, I’m sure you don’t want this surfacing either.“ A well-manicured nail makes an invisible circle in the air between her and Lexi as if to symbolize the latter’s relationship with Fezco. “So, you keep your mouth shut and I’ll keep mine. Or do you perhaps want a new reputation to reinvent your boring self?”
The bitchy, bitter nonsense Cassie is spewing right now wouldn’t typically faze Lexi had she been the only person in the equation to get hurt if the older girl started spreading the news.
Fezco would obviously get caught in the crossfire too.
Now, Lexi doesn’t know much about Fezco’s business, not in detail anyway. However, she knows it’s not a field that allows weaknesses. It’s an industry meant for people with a very small selection of things they could possibly lose. And if it’s found out that she’s among those things on Fez’s list, it wouldn’t mean anything good for either of them.
So, although her morals tell her differently, she nods her head in a reluctant agreement to silence on both ends. An agreement she can’t bring herself to fully get behind but she has to.
*  *  *  *  *
“Ok....what do you think?“ Maddy asks as she hops down from the desk in front of the vanity mirror in her room.
It’s been two weeks since that night and Lexi hasn’t been 100% and rightfully so. She’s been struggling with this weight on her conscience too much, especially since her friendship with Maddy has been kindling closer. Neither of the two had ever really made any effort of getting to know each other better in the past, but guess all it took for them to grow closer was Lexi agreeing to let Maddy do her make-up. It was a decision she certainly doesn’t regret and one that has proven to be quite beneficial when coupled with her lack of artistry in the make-up department and the dates she’s now going on.
All in all, Maddy’s help was very needed.
Fez would disagree with this but ok, I digress.
Most nights Lexi finds herself lying awake in bed, staring at the ceiling as if letters and words would just magically appear on it eventually to guide her to the right action, the one she should take to both free her conscience and still be able to protect herself and....her boyfriend? Friend? Friend, let’s stick with ‘friend’ for now before any confirmations are made.
She’s weighed and reweighed her options countless times by now but has never managed to come up with a definite decision.
Until now....
Looking at the sparkle in Maddy’s eyes, the smile on her face, the way she’s purely, almost childishly excited to hear what Lexi thinks of the make-up look - her creation. One can see the passion she has for this practice. The passion she has for life.  The brunette has heard enough to know what kind of person Maddy is. From those who aren’t close to her she’s heard things along the lines of: cold bitch, savage etc. However by Cassie, ironically but logically enough she’s been told that the girl is the best ‘best friend’ someone could ever ask for. Loyal, reliable, funny, smart, badass.
And to think of all the shit she’s doing to her right this very moment.
That mental picture Lexi has of Maddy is what makes her heart ache right now and what’s shaking her resolve to keep quiet on the subject.
She buys herself some time by looking in the mirror where she sees a version of herself she barely recognizes to be the girl she’s used to seeing there. She looks so different but still herself, the look right up her ally with its simplicity but beauty. The amount of attention to detail Maddy has put into it is fascinating and it makes it even more mind-boggling that she got this done in under thirty minutes.
And yet Cassie has to wake up three hours before school starts to pull herself together, Lexi almost chuckles at the thought but manages to keep it to herself as to not feel guilty about it afterwards.
She might feel guilty for what she’s about to do though, so she doesn’t need it all piling up.
“It looks amazing, Maddy. It’s beautiful.“ Lexi finally says after looking at herself slack-jawed for a few moments. When her eyes trail back to Maddy’s, she’s all but certain of her upcoming action.
The black haired girl scoffs playfully, “Don’t you mean to say ‘I’m beautiful’?” The question catches Lexi off-guard. She hadn’t even realized she had phrased it like that, not including herself in the review but just the make-up. No one else would’ve picked up on it....ok, well, maybe one other person would’ve but she really isn’t allowed to think of him right now, even if she’s about to go on a date with him.
“Yeah....I guess I’m ok too.“ She says with a giggle, getting a chuckle out of the other girl.
“Bitch, you’re fucking gorgeous. Don’t even get me started.“ Maddy’s hands adjust Lexi’s hair while still looking at her in the mirror.
“Says you. You’re like all in one: amazing personality, brains, beauty. You know what they say: class, sass and badass.“ Truth be told, she’s reusing that line - it’s a compliment she’s been given by a certain someone but it’s not like he has copyrighted it. “You’re amazing.”
“And what makes you think you’re anything less?“ Maddy hops back up on the table to look the younger girl in the eyes as they speak.
Although the eye contact makes Lexi feel nervous and like she can’t hide any of her thoughts anymore, she still finds it in her to keep her head up and keep talking. “It’s just a force of habit at this point, to put myself down? I don’t know, I’ve just been comparing myself to Cassie all my life and made myself feel like shit for not being more like her or you, you know? It’s taken me eighteen years to realize she ain’t shit.“ Ok, she might have been spending a little too much time with Fez if she’s starting to talk like him, but of course she doesn’t notice her change in lingo.
Maddy frowns curiously at Lexi’s words, “What gave you the epiphany?”
And now the curtains lift, Lexi thinks to herself, finding comfort in imagining this whole interaction as a scene in a play, something scripted and acted out in the barriers of a written world. If only it was just a screenplay.
If she wasn’t already seated, Lexi would’ve told her to do so because holy shit does she have some shit to lay on her.
“It was a slow-building process but the final thing that was more like a punch to the gut than anything was....learning how horrible of a friend she is. Especially to you, Maddy.“ The answer doesn’t clear up anything for the girl in question, instead only opens more questions to be asked.
“Wha-?“
Her single syllable question is cut off by Lexi who just blurts her words out, afraid that if she holds them back any longer she might swallow them and never bring herself to say them again.
“Cassie’s sleeping with Nate, Maddy!“
Now, we can all agree that it would be perfectly in character for Maddy to have an outburst at this, hop down from the table and go find Cassie wherever on this Earth she might be and show her who she should’ve never double-crossed. Or she could not believe Lexi and accuse her of lying to break up her friendship with her sister out of spite or jealousy or something. She could do many things that wouldn’t scare Lexi as much as what she’s doing right now - staying silent.
Hell, she could turn this room upside down like the Tasmanian Devil from Looney Tunes and that too would be a lot less eerie than the heavy silence that has befallen them and which causes the younger girl’s chest to hurt more than previously, now with guilt.
“I-I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.“ Lexi, mortified by Maddy’s blank stare and poker face starts explaining herself for no real reason, “I’ve only known for a week but I couldn’t bring myself to tell you cause Cassie - she threatened me with spreading some fucked up rumors about me around the school. I-I’m really sorry, I know it sounds so fucking selfish when I say it out loud.“
The shame is too heavy to handle and allow Lexi to hold her head up so she bows it, feeling the sting of hot tears welling up in her eyes.
That’s when, much to her surprise, she feels the soft touch of fingers tapping her jaw to tilt her head up.
“Don’t apologize, it’s not selfish. And don’t cry and ruin my hard work, ok?“ Lexi thought the silence was scary, but this calm tone freaks her out even more. And the fact that she managed a smile while saying that last part, fucking terrifying. If Cassie isn’t getting beheaded tonight I don’t know what angel is watching over her, she finds herself thinking, “Thank you for telling me anyway.“
Lexi’s brain has flipped to autopilot settings which barely manage to alert her that the right action here is nodding so that’s what she does, mere seconds before a timer goes off, telling her that her getting-ready time is up.
She makes no attempt to stand up, however, concerning Maddy, “Come on, you’ll be late.” Seeing the slight shake of the younger girl’s head, she crouches down to be at eye level with her, “Listen, you did nothing wrong, don’t let this ruin your night, ok? That shit is my business, don’t let it bother you. And about those rumors: consider that saga over before it even started, cool?” She waits for an affirmative sign of any kind - which eventually comes in the form of yet another set of quick nods - before gently helping her lift out of the chair. Maddy’s hands run over Lexi’s dress, straightening it out so it cascades perfectly around her knees, the silky material soft and comforting, opposing the whirlwind of negative emotions within her. However, she pushes the show of it down, knowing that this Howard sister seriously doesn’t deserve it.
“Leave his jaw on the floor, bitch.“ She twirls Lexi one final time before waving goodbye to her but still making no attempt at leaving the room herself, probably a bad sign for Cassie but Lexi can’t bring herself to care. “And tell him, whoever he is, to treat you well cause otherwise he’ll get his ass beat by me personally, got it?”
Lexi giggles nervously but still manages to mutter a quick, ‘got it’ before she’s out the door, doing her best to leave those thoughts and feelings behind as she walks down the stairs, startled by the sound of the doorbell halfway down.
She doesn’t need to play a guessing game to know who it is.
And yet still for a moment she is left to wonder if she was wrong about it because the man’s face cannot be seen through the tightknit array of flowers arranged in the most beautiful bouquet she’s ever seen.
“Evenin’, shawty. Hope I’m not too late.“ His voice always, without fail, has this effect on her - melting her heart and turning her thoughts into a mangled, unintelligible pile she barely manages to find a cognitive thought in to be able to stay verbal and conversational.
“You’re five minutes early actually.“ She smiles at him sheepishly, shuffling from one foot to the other in uncertainty as she’s handed the aforementioned bouquet, “You shouldn’t have.“ She says in response but it has the opposite effect on him - the glow in her eyes and the wide smile that spreads itself on her wine red lips is enough for Fez to want to buy and personally deliver her a bouquet each and every day until the end of time. If he gets to see her glow with happiness like this than he’s damn ready to do whatever it takes.
“Told you I’d take you out on a proper date. No cuttin’ corners, nothin but the best for ma girl.“ One of his now unoccupied hands comes up to cup her cheek, the touch so soft, so warm, so comforting, reassuring her that all will be well. With his skin against hers, even in the most innocent or accidental of ways or with the most intimate and romantic intentions, it’s hard for her to focus on anything else. Her head’s emptied of any thoughts that don’t involve him. That don’t involve their happiness.
Their future, however, is something that scares her. She’s scared he might see it differently, but even that fear is erased from her mind, especially when his lips press to her forehead.
She might as well no longer be on this planet at that moment.
“You better treat her well, Fezco! Or I’ll find your fucking address“ And that’s what brings her back to reality - Maddy’s voice from the window of her room on the second floor. Yes, she’s been observing the interaction this whole time and man, if she didn’t know better she’d be jealous.
Instead, she’s happy for the younger Howard sister. She’s excited even. If her original target wasn’t Cassie, she would’ve stuck around for the post-date details.
She loves seeing people happy, especially her friends, if only she too could be allowed happiness like this.
“Don’t worry, if I ever hurt her Imma text you ma address myself!“ This makes Lexi giggle - a sound she underestimates and undermines, unaware of how adorable Fezco finds it.
She’s seen herself as lesser in one way or another since she was a little girl, little does she know how perfect she is to him. How he’d rewire her mind in a heartbeat or lend her his eyes so she can see what he sees, even if only for a second.
But, since that’s impossible, he’ll just translate it to her the best he can with words. And, he’s not always the best with words, most definitely not when she’s around and gets him all nervous and shit, so he shows it in different ways.
Like the way he takes hold of her hand now, a firm but gentle grasp telling her that he’s there and there he’ll stay until she tells him to go away.
Promising to be in her life for as long as she wants him there.
The grip she returns is a promise of its own - a promise that she would and could never get tired of him.
She’d want him there, holding her hand and not letting her go, forever.

Kara/Lena adopt Superboy AU Notes (Part 1)
I’m finally delivering on the content for this Supercorp AU
Tumblr media
This is a Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor and Superboy (Kon-El) centric story. Specifically focused on exploration of one's identity and how you define yourself with the many aspects of your life and choices you made as well as what you consider important and precious to you. The effects of being constrained by how you were born and finding those who love you for who you are and don't ask you to change the core of your being to fit in. — this is not an action packed story at all.
Here are some of the ideas I have for this or things I thought Kon had in common with Lena and Kara that I find compelling.
Lena concepts:
Lena gets to know another Luthor, her biological nephew, who isn’t a trash person and is someone to not just for her to protect but who’s existence assures her that it isn’t blood that makes someone bad and maybe she isn’t so different from other people and she’s not “irredeemable”. Sometimes he reminds her of her older brother when he was kind to her growing up. Likewise, everyone usually sees the Lex in Kon as an inherently bad thing and thus he learns to hide it and hate himself for it. Lena presents an alternate because she remembers bittersweetly a simpler time when she looked up to her brother. Not everyone sees the Luthor genes in him as a threat, Lena finds it comforting to be able to help someone like her in a way she was never helped as a young girl.
Lena thinks she can’t interact with kids well, much less the kid Lex had grown in a lab, but she totally warms up to him and can talk to him about familial rejection (via Clark) and if it’s because he’s a Luthor and if that makes him wrong. Is it because he’s artificial? Is it because he’s some strange illegitimate lab child? Smothering this kid with love and protection.
Plus Kon is like Kara in more than just being kryptonian but also in dorkiness. Lena’s life is just trying to wrangle an overpowered golden retriever and her lab puppy. She can’t stay mad at them for long.
Lena finding she is capable of loving and being loved and being with Kara makes it harder to ignore the crush she has on Kara. They talk together about love and acceptance now they have a shared kid they don’t want to hide personal things from that could later hurt him and many things become open secrets in their now shared house. Soon enough, it becomes obvious she needs to be truthful with Kara about her own feelings for her.
Lena could learn about the difficulties of hiding being an alien that Kara had to deal with and the onslaught and exhaustion of developing powers in young kryptonians. She gets to see first hand what it does to a child and wonders how that must have affected Kara’s emotional development and sense of self.
Lillian and Lex won’t get anywhere near this kid if Lena has something to say about it. Lena knows what it’s like to be the odd one out in a family and for people to reject you for simply existing from other people's sins
Kara concepts:
Kara recounts how she felt like a failure waking up on earth to find out Kal had grown up without her. Now she can maybe make peace with that by taking in Kon even if everything that motivates her choices with him is primarily for kons sake.
Kara can share with another person krypton's history and culture which is something she’s had to keep seperate from her primary identity for years now *cough* it’s almost like she’s an immigrant who has to hide her identity and culture to be accepted and you could use that in the story *cough*
Kon lived through being created as a lab rat and the only living experiment left. Kara could sympathize with his own grief from her experience with survivors’ guilt.
Being open with Kon so that he doesn’t feel that same overwhelming pressure when she was told to hide with a human family also gives room for Lena to learn more about the world Kara came from beyond what she knows from interviews from Superman. Having Kara speak openly about her life on Krypton is much more personal and feels much more real than any article could do.
Teaching Kon how best to control his powers and her and Lena being able to have the resources for him to do so safely
Alex is very alarmed by the new addition to the family, mostly because how shitty Clark was in relation to the kid. From her perspective, this is not the first time the guy has dumped an unwanted kryptonian child on someone else’s doorstep. Whatever, she gets to buy leather jackets for her new nephew and be scary overprotective of him. “I don’t care if you think you’re nearly invulnerable at your age, do you have ANY IDEA what type of trouble your mother got us into when we were growing up? Or even when she just started hero work?”
Conner Kon-Cepts:
His sort-of-aunts can be his adoptive moms and be much better to him than his biological dads ever were to him in the comic canon. Kon actually being allowed to be close to other Superman family members!!! I need it like the air I breathe. Kon could get to know a Luthor that isn’t trying to hurt him or use him. Someone who defies part of why (Kon thinks) Superman could never accept a thing like him.
(I have too many things to say to put in a brief bullet point just know that he’s my fav little boy and I think that he deserves parents who would love him unconditionally and Lena and Kara deserve to live a slower life where they can be cute and domestic)
(If he’s raised by these two then I can give a solid reason as to why we just ignore all the blatant misogynistic and horny writing from the 90s comics that made me really uncomfortable and didn’t completely fit with his given backstory especially with how over the top the specialization was. It helps make up for that)
Kon has to deal with being constantly compared to his two genetic fathers mirroring how Kara and Lena both are constantly being compared to Superman and Lex Luthor as they are the female counterparts of those two more infamous members in their respective families
Kara and Kon have very complementary stories and could become what the other needs to fill a hole in each of their hearts. Canon is way too personally tragic. I’d rather have a bittersweet world that’s also soft so I can spend more time with slow paced character analysis.
(In the beginning, Kon’s much more timid given he’s still so young and is coping with being rejected by superman. The tone at the beginning of the story is very serious. As the story unfolds, kon will loosen up to be goofier like his comic counterparts personality)
Both Clark and Lex don’t deserve this kid in any way. If all they are gonna do is mistreat or neglect him in their own ways, Kon is better off with his aunts.
Conclusion:
Kara and Lena can be happy together by fully trusting themselves with each other in domestic bliss for once AND Kon doesn’t have to cry his eyes out knowing he’s an unwanted experiment child who is “undeserving” of family and home who never got to experience childhood
Everyone who's always saying “you can’t trust a Luthor” better shut their trap when Kara walks in with Kon-El Luthor, her newly adopted son, and her fiancé, Lena Luthor. These new moms will tear you apart if you try to instill that internal hatred of being a Luthor in their son’s young mind.
Kara and Lena both defying what people say about them and instead raising a well adjusted boy from both their warring families.
Kon is gonna be raised by a true power couple.
DC refuses to deliver on giving this boy a home or parents so I’m gonna do it instead. Just look at the family they could be together:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(FYI: This has nothing to do with the version of Superboy in the Young Justice cartoon TV show, so if you’re only familiar with that you may be a bit confused about this Superboy who that one was loosely based on. This whole punk fitted kid is indeed a real character and I stay pretty close to his original design from 1993.)

Tumblr media
pairing : bodyguard! Yuta Nakamoto x rich girl! Y/N
genre: angst, fluff, childhood friends au
word count: 2.7k words
summary : Yuta has his eyes on one girl. A person he cannot have.
a/n: based on this ask. you’ll probably guess that I intended this to be an angst fic so the ending is kinda off but I still hope you’ll like it anon.
“Can you please act like a proper lady?” the mother of the house scolded which only made Y/N sip her soup loudly. “Y/N!” she shouted, which made the younger girl flinch.
The oldest sighed loudly, closing his eyes. “Can’t we just enjoy our meal without shouting?” The younger girl snickered. “And Y/N, please listen to your mom. Act like a proper lady.”
She rolled her eyes at that. It’s not like she’s not an obedient child, she listens to what they want. She just hated how they put all this pressure on her to be a proper woman when it’s not what she wants. The disadvantage of being born into a rich family.
Her right wrapped fist hit the punching bag before her left fist hooked to hit its side. The door opened and she swings a punch, only to hit her childhood friend by the shoulder. “That is one weak punch.” Yuta teased, fixing the wrap of her right fist. “Why do you have to practice boxing when you have your bodyguard?” He whispered while fixing the other wrap. “I’d rather break all my bones than let someone lay a finger on you.”
She laughed. “For someone so strong and muscly, you have such a soft spot for me.” She swing another punch and he quickly dodged it. Yuta held her wrist, gently pulling her to the side but Y/N kept on coming to him with punches. She hit his shoulder once but he didn’t flinch making her repeat the punching.
Yuta stepped backward, laughing at her attempts. His foot reached the edge of the mat at the same time as Y/N landed a punch on his chest. He fell down on his back, dragging Y/N with him. The girl grinned, “I think I just knocked you down.”
She sounded so proud of herself that it’s comical. Yuta held both her arms, pushing her down to the mat. Him, hovering above her. “The first rule is to never put your guard down.” He can feel her warm breath against his lips. Her fruity smell arousing his senses. A loud heartbeat, he wasn’t sure if it was hers or his, ringing on his ears.
Yuta stood up as if he’s on fire. Y/N chuckling while lying down on the mat. He reached a hand to help her stand, letting go when she stood up. “Luckily, you will always be here for me.” The side of his lips curled up.
He didn’t know when it started. Maybe it started even before he realized it. Since his parents work with her family, he became her first friend. When she went to high school, she refused to have bodyguards following her every move so Yuta, being her classmate, became her personal bodyguard. The main reason why he bulked up.
But it should end now. He can’t be her personal bodyguard forever. Because from the little girl he first met when they were six years old, Y/N had grown to be a pretty woman. And he’s just a guy. A guy who is attracted to the person he needed to guard.
-----
“I’m sorry,” Y/N said, holding her shoes while running outside their mansion and into the car. Yuta laughed, closing the door behind him then entering the driver’s seat. “Is mom mad?”
He shook his head, adjusting the rearview mirror to watch if she’s comfortable in her seat. She was putting on her sandals, the skirt of her dress hiking up her thigh that made him cough. “If she asks, just tell her your piano class ended late.”
“But I don’t have piano classes.”
“Exactly.”
The girl smiled. This was one of the things she liked about hanging out with Yuta. Her parents believe him more than her and he’s good at making up excuses.
It’s not her fault that she enjoyed watching the boxing match on TV and she forgot about the party that her mom kept on reminding her. Honestly, she would rather just stay at home and practice her boxing skills rather than stand in that posh party and act like her mom’s Barbie doll. Why is this the fate of a chaebol’s daughter?
The car stopped at the entrance of a posh hotel, the valet already opening the door for her. “Are you coming up after parking the car?” she asked but Yuta just shook his head while reminding her to keep her slippers on the side so he can hide them in the trunk. “What if I get bored?”
Yuta chuckled. “I’ll be drinking coffee in the lobby.” She grinned before getting out of the car and closing the door behind her.
The elevator ride is boring already but when she came inside the venue, the party made her yawn. Her mom scolded her for arriving late then smiling at her friends which she greeted with a fake smile on her face. She introduced her to one bachelor after another, obnoxious jerks that she knew since she’s a kid. “Didn’t I told you to wear makeup?” Her mom scolded and she hissed, closing her eyes. She’s pissed off that she’s hungry and her feet are aching real bad. She just wanted to go home.
Maybe she can make a run for it and go to Yuta in the lobby.
But her mom held her arm, whispering that she should stop being a brat. It wasn’t until her dad said that they should go home since he’s almost drunk that a smile crept on her lips. She almost hurried outside the hotel, grinning when Yuta opened the door for her. “You look like you had fun.”
She rolled her eyes at that, “I almost died of boredom.” He chuckled before she got inside the car, Yuta opening the front door for Y/N’s dad.
The car was quiet that surprised him. Normally, her mom will keep on scolding her for her behavior at the party. Maybe she was being obedient today. “Yuta, your dad told me about your family leaving.” He saw movement from the rearview mirror and shrugged it. “Let me know if you need anything.” Yuta nodded, thanking the older man.
“We know some doctors in Japan. Maybe we can help.” The older woman from the backseat claimed but Yuta just shook his head. He already feels bad about his family moving so suddenly, he’ll feel worse if he let them help his ailing grandmother. This was a decision that his parents had been pondering for a while and when their employer agreed to let them go back to Japan, he can’t say no.
The car stopped in front of their mansion, the couple getting out of the car but the girl refused to move and even closed the door of the car. She was glaring at Yuta, arms crossed in front of her chest. “Why didn’t you tell me that you’re leaving?”
Yuta sighed. “I can’t find the right timing to tell you.” She rolled her eyes once again. “I’m sorry but grandma is already old and she wants us to go back to Japan.”
“Can’t you stay?”
“I can’t, Y/N.” He hissed. “My parents are already old. They need me more.”
The girl pursed her lips and he cautiously met her eyes from the rearview mirror. “When are you leaving?”
“Tomorrow.”
“Already?” Yuta nodded. The sooner, the better. “Morning?” Again, he nodded. Y/N pouted, squinting her eyes at him. “Can you wake me up before you leave?”
He smiled, laughing while he turned to her. “You can wake up by yourself.” But she shook her head. “I’ll wake you up tomorrow. Promise.” She grinned, even repeating that he needed to wake her up before leaving the car.
Yuta sighed, leaning in his seat while taking a silver chain from inside his pocket. His thumb tracing the heart pendant. This was supposed to be his gift for her but seeing as how the other guys from wealthy families gave her diamonds and expensive things, he hid it for months. A knock on the window startled him, hastily putting the necklace in his pocket. He rolled down the window to reveal his dad, smiling at him. “I’ll just park the car.”
He waited for him outside the mansion as he returned the keys, closing their door in the process. “You know you can stay if you want.” His dad started that made Yuta shake his head. It was his decision to come with them. He can’t stay here and be away from them. They needed him. “I’m sorry, Yuta.”
“What for, dad?”
“I should have worked harder and maybe our family is wealthier.” He claimed that surprised the younger guy. His dad is thinking about these things? “You wouldn’t have a problem loving her.”
A smile crept on Yuta’s face. Of course, they know about it. Everyone does. Except her.
“It was your mom who found out. You even worked part-time jobs just to get her a present and I felt bad.” Yuta shook his head. They’re the parents he wished for. He doesn’t want anything to change. “Did you at least tell her your feelings?”
Once again, he shook his head. “It’s just a one-sided crush, dad.” The older tapped his shoulder. “This will pass.” But even he had a hard time believing the words coming out of his own mouth.
He promised to wake her up and although he’s in front of her room, he can’t have the courage to knock on the door and tell her that they’re leaving. It’s just a crush. He kept on telling himself. This will pass. With a heavy sigh, he put down the necklace on the floor and went downstairs.
“Did you wake her up?” Yuta smiled, shaking his head. "That girl, really." The older woman was about to leave when the younger stopped her, saying that it's fine. His mom stared at him in worry.
Yuta went inside the cab while her parents thanked the other couple. This is it, he thought. His goodbye to her. His thumb grazed against her smiling photo as his phone wallpaper. His parents both looked at him when they went inside the car, asking if he's alright and he nodded then closed his phone.
As the car started moving away from the mansion, his phone lit up with her name. He's a coward. He shouldn't be her bodyguard. He closed the phone, removing his sim card and breaking it in half.
Yuta's goodbye to her. The love of his life.
The last few years were so good to Yuta. His uncle sent him to a university in Tokyo where he took a course in business administration and start a small business of his own. He met a lot of good people, nice girls from his line of work but sometimes he would trail to thoughts of her. Her smile, her eyes.
Whenever winter comes, he would think of her grinning excitedly at the thought of snow. When spring comes, he finds himself smiling at the cherry blossoms. Wanting her to see them with her own two eyes. Whenever summer comes, he wished she’s here with him and eating delicious foods at festivals. When it’s autumn, he would dream of them walking under the shedding trees and holding each other’s hands. Then the cycle repeats itself.
He missed her more as time pass.
Can he even see her again? Why can’t he fully say goodbye to his feelings for her?
“I heard there are pretty girls at the party. We should definitely check it out.” One of his business partners claimed, referring to a party happening to a famous hotel in Tokyo. “Maybe this is your chance to forget about that girl.”
Maybe it is. He should focus on forgetting about her. Maybe this time, he can finally say goodbye to the thoughts of her.
Surprisingly the more he stayed at the party, the more he was reminded of her. Is this how it feels like being the ‘Barbie doll’? Just standing, smiling, and greeting people when you want to go home and just rest. Seeing how some creepy rich old men were walking to where younger girls are, he thought that these chaebol’s daughters should really have a bodyguard of their own. How is she? Did she find another bodyguard?
Yuta excused himself outside to get some breath of fresh air. This is dangerous, he kept on thinking about her. He’s failing his mission. “Y/N!” someone called that made him turn to the owner of the voice. A guy in simple shirt and jeans, very different from the semi-formal attire in the party, was looking around the garden. “Y/N, your mom is going to kill me.”
He really said her name, didn’t he? Before he can walk to where he is, he heard a small sound behind the bushes then some movement. Curious, he peeked behind only to get punched in the face. Hard. “Oh shit, I’m sorry.” Is he hurt that much? Why is he seeing her? “Yuta?”
“Y/N!” the sound got closer that made her pull him to hide behind the bushes.
“What are you…?” She put a hand over her mouth to cover his voice. Their distance so close that he can feel her warmth and the fruity smell that he always associated with her. A loud heartbeat ringing in his ears but now, he’s sure that it was his.
When the guy went inside the party, Y/N breathed hard in relief. Her head lay on Yuta’s shoulder, catching her breath. “That was so close.”
He lightly pushed her, moving to the side to create a distance from the two of them. “What were you doing?”
“Hiding.” she said with a grin. “He’s going to return me to mom and introduce me to some Japanese hotshot." he rolled her eyes while fixing her skirt. "I don't even know how to speak Japanese, I just passed class because…" She lightly glanced at him, her eyes widening in surprise. "Your lip is bleeding."
Yuta touched his bottom lip, a bright red tint appearing on his thumb. "Maybe because of your punch." She repeatedly apologized, handing him her handkerchief. "Have you been practicing your punches?"
"I'm training to be a boxer to join the Olympics."
"Seriously?"
The girl squinted her eyes at him. "I'm stuck with that lanky guy who can't even land a punch. How am I supposed to protect myself?"
Yuta laughed then pulled her down in an attempt to hide her from the guy looking for her. "Why are you stuck with that guy anyways? Your dad knew better."
"Well, my bodyguard left me without even saying goodbye when he promised me..."
"I'm sorry." Yuta whispered. "Saying goodbye is harder than staying with you." He breathed heavily. "I'm falling deeper for the girl I'm supposed to protect. I'm scared I might hurt you." He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
She rolled her eyes at that. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because I'm a nobody and you're way out of my league, Y/N."
"You're stupid, Yuta. I didn't even sleep that night and waited for you to knock on the door that morning." She lightly punched his shoulder, earning a yelp from him. Tears were streaming from her eyes that startled him. "I even went to Osaka to look for you."
He held her cheeks, wiping the tears away with his thumbs. “I’m sorry, Y/N.” He mumbled. “I can’t get you out of my mind as well.” He held her in his arms, her necklace hanging loosely from her neck. He traced the heart pendant, smiling at her. “It looks good on you.”
She punched his shoulder another time, surprising Yuta. “Don’t hide from me again. I’ll kill you, Yuta.”
The guy rubbed the spot she just punched, “I don’t think I can be your bodyguard anymore. Let me just guard your heart instead.” Another punch and he just chuckled, pulling her in his arms again.
Yuta smiled. Mission failed.
He really can’t say goodbye to the love of his life.

I grew up with three parents: a mom, a dad and Princess Leia. I guess Princess Leia was kind of like my stepmom–technically family, but deep down I didn’t really like her. She literally and metaphorically lived on a planet I had never been to. When Leia was around, there wasn’t as much room for my mom–for Carrie. As a child, I couldn’t understand why people loved Leia as much as they did. I didn’t want to watch her movie, I didn’t want to dress up like her, I didn’t even want to talk about her. I just wanted my mom–the one who lived on Earth, not Tatooine. I didn’t watch Star Wars until I was about 6 years old. (And I technically didn’t finish it until I was 9 or 10. I’m sorry! Don’t judge me!) My mom used to love to tell people that every time she tried to put it on, I would cover my ears and yell, “It’s too loud, Mommy! Turn it off!”–or fearfully question, “Is that lady in the TV you?” It wasn’t until middle school that I finally decided to watch it of my own accord–not because I suddenly developed a keen interest in ’70s sci-fi, but because boys started coming up to me and saying they fantasized about my mom. My mom? The lady who wore glitter makeup like it was lotion and didn’t wear a bra to support her much-support-needed DD/F’s? They couldn’t be talking about her! I had to investigate who this person was they were talking about. So I went home and watched the movie I had forever considered too loud and finally figured out what all the fuss was about the lady in the TV. I’d wanted to hate it so I could tell her how lame she was. Like any kid, I didn’t want my mom to be “hot” or “cool”–she was my mom. I was supposed to be the “cool,” “hot” one–not her! But staring at the screen that day, I realized no one is, or ever will be, as hot or as cool as Princess F-cking Leia. (Excuse my language. She’s just that cool!) Later that year, I went to Comic-Con with my mom. It was the first time I realized how widespread and deep people’s love for Leia was, even after so many years. It was surreal: people of all ages from all over the world were dressed up like my mom, the lady who sang me to sleep at night and held me when I was scared. Watching the amount of joy it brought to people when she hugged them or threw glitter in their faces was incredible to witness. People waited in line for hours just to meet her. People had tattoos of her. People named their children after her. People had stories of how Leia saved their lives. It was a side of my mom I had never seen before. And it was magical. I realized then that Leia is more than just a character. She’s a feeling. She is strength. She is grace. She is wit. She is femininity at its finest. She knows what she wants, and she gets it. She doesn’t need anyone to defend her, because she defends herself. And no one could have played her like my mother. Princess Leia is Carrie Fisher. Carrie Fisher is Princess Leia. The two go hand in hand. When I graduated from college, like most folks, I was trying to figure out what the hell to do with my life. I went to school planning to throw music festivals, but always had this little sliver of me that wanted to do what my parents pushed me so hard not to do–act. I was embarrassed to admit I was even slightly interested. So when my mom called me and told me they wanted me to come in to audition for Star Wars, I pretended it wasn’t a big deal–I even laughed at the concept–but inside I couldn’t think of anything that would make me happier. A couple weeks later I went in for my audition. I probably had never been more nervous in my life. I was terrified and most likely made a fool of myself, but I kind of had a great time doing it. I assumed they would never call me, but after that audition, I realized I wanted to give the whole acting thing a shot. I was definitely afraid, but as a wise woman once said, “Stay afraid, but do it anyway … The confidence will follow.” About a month later, they somehow ended up calling. And there I was, on my way to be in motherf-cking Star Wars. Whoa. Growing up, my parents treated film sets like a house full of people with the flu: they kept me away from them at all costs. So on that fateful first day driving up to Pinewood, I was like a doe-eyed child. I couldn’t tell my mom, but little sassy, sarcastic, postcollege me felt like a giddy, grateful middle schooler showing up to a fancy new school. On that first day, my mom and I sat next to each other in the hair and makeup trailer. (Actually, she wasn’t really one for sitting, so she paced up and down and around me, occasionally reapplying her already overapplied glitter makeup and feeding Gary, her French bulldog.) Between glitterings, the hairstylist crafted what was to become General Leia’s hairstyle, then it was on to me: little Lieutenant Connix. Funnily enough, my mom had more to say about my hairstyle than her own. Even though she complained for years about how the iconic Leia buns “further widened my already wide face,” she desperately wanted me to carry on the face-widening family tradition! Some people carry on their family name, some people carry on holiday traditions–I was going to carry on the family hairstyle. So after we tested a few other space-appropriate hairstyles, we decided to embrace the weird galactic nepotism of it all and went with the mini–Leia buns. She stood in the mirror behind me and smiled like we had gotten matching tattoos. Our secret-handshake hairstyle. On the first day of this thing I could now call “work,” I walked into the Resistance Base set for rehearsal and J.J. Abrams, the director, told me where to stand and what to do–basically just press some pretty real-looking fake buttons. But I have to say, just pressing those buttons and observing the rest of the scene was one of the most fun things I had ever done. I had no lines in the scene, but my mom kept checking on me like I was delivering a Shakespearean monologue. “Are you O.K.?” she asked. “Do you need anything?” I scoffed at her maternal questions like a child embarrassed by her mother yelling goodbye too loud in a carpool line: “Mommy, go away! I’m fine. Focus on you, not me!” In the moment, I was humiliated that my mom was moming me on my first day of work, on the Star Wars set, of all places. But now I realize she was just being protective. Sets are extremely intimidating–I was too green at the time to know that–and she assumed I would be scared as hell. But weirdly, I wasn’t. At risk of sounding insane, something about this bizarre new world made me feel right at home. I had found a place with an empty puzzle slot that perfectly matched my weird-shaped puzzle piece. That night, on the long London-traffic-filled ride back from set, she turned to me and smiled. “Bits,” she said. “You know, most people aren’t as comfortable on sets as you were today. Especially on the f-cking Star Wars set, of all places!” (Excuse my language, but that was her language.) “This might be something you should think about doing.” At first I laughed, assuming she was kidding. But she continued to look me straight in the eye with no inkling of irony in sight. My mom was telling me I should act–my mom? The lady who spent my entire life convincing me acting was the last thing I should do? It couldn’t be true. But it was. I haven’t had many moments like this in my life–those aha moments everyone talks about. This was my first real one. My mom wanted me to be an actress. That was when I realized I had to give it a shot. She used to sarcastically quip that she knew all along what a massive hit Star Wars would be. As with most things, she was kidding. She was absolutely and totally beyond shocked by the massive global phenomenon that was the first Star Wars trilogy. It changed her life forever. Then, when it happened again almost 40 years later, she was even more absolutely and totally beyond shocked. It changed her life yet again. But that time, it changed my life too. I thought getting to make one Star Wars movie with her was a once-in-a-lifetime thing; then they asked me to come do the next movie and I got to do my once-in-a-lifetime twice. On our second movie together, I really tried to take a step back and appreciate what I was doing. I couldn’t tell her because she’d think I was lame, but getting to watch her be Leia this time made me feel like the proud mom. Watching the original Star Wars movies as a kid in my mom’s bed, I never imagined the lady in the TV would get older and get back in the TV. And I definitely never imagined we would end up in the TV together. But that’s where we ended up. Two little ladies in the TV together–Leia and little Lieutenant Connix. We wrapped The Last Jedi a little less than six months before she died. I went back to L.A. to film the show I was on, and she stayed in London to film the show she was on. One of the last times we spoke on the phone, she talked about how excited she was that the next movie in the trilogy was going to be Leia’s movie. Her movie. She used to say that in the original movies, she got to be “the only girl in an all-boys fantasy.” But with each new Star Wars movie, the all-boys fantasy started to become a boys-and-girls fantasy. She was no longer a part of a fantasy, but the fantasy herself. Leia was not just a sidekick one of the male leads had on his arm, or a damsel in distress. She was the hero herself. The princess became the general. My mom died on Dec. 27, 2016. Two days after Christmas, four days before New Year’s and about a year before she was supposed to appear in her final Star Wars film. Losing my mom is the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. I lost my best friend. My little lady in the TV. My Momby. And I inherited this weird, intimidating thing called her legacy. Suddenly I was in charge of what would come of her books, her movies and a bunch of other overwhelming things. I was now the keeper of Leia. About a year later, J.J. called me into his office to talk about the plans for Leia. We both agreed she was too important to be written off in the classic Star Wars introductory scroll. This last movie was supposed to be Leia’s movie, and we wanted it to remain that, as much as possible. What I hadn’t known–and what J.J. told me that day –was that there was footage of my mom that they had collected over the years that hadn’t made it into the movies, footage that J.J. told me would be enough to write an entire movie around. It was like she had left us a gift that would allow Leia’s story to be completed. I was speechless. (Anyone who knows me knows that doesn’t happen very often.) J.J. asked me if I would want to come back as Lieutenant Connix. I knew it would be one of the most painful, difficult things I would ever do, but I said yes for her–for my mom. For Leia. For everyone Leia means so much to. For everyone Leia gives strength to. For my future kids, so someday they’ll have one more movie to watch that Mommy and Grandma were in together. So they can ask me about the lady–now ladies–in the TV and tell me to turn it down because it’s too loud. I grew up with three parents: a mom, a dad and Princess Leia. Initially, Princess Leia was kind of like my stepmom. Now she’s my guardian angel. And I’m her keeper.

TWO
SUMMARY: You, at such young age made your way in business becoming a successful one. With that a lot of jealousy and rivalry came. Your mother finally convinces you to hire a team of security just in case someone tried to hurt you. And that’s when Donghyuck becomes your personal bodyguard, following you everywhere you go. You don’t mind at all since you find him very entertaining and nice. What you don’t know is that he’s the one that has been hired to keep you close and kill you.
PAIRING: reader x bodyguard!donghyuck
WARNINGS: mentions of jaemin and taeyong. swearing, blood (i’ll let you know when there are parts with blood mentions), smut, violence, angst
WORD COUNT: 2,8K
7 am. Wake up, take a shower, have breakfast and rush to the office. That was your daily routine and you were used to it. But no that morning. You were getting ready to go to your interview with the TIME Magazine. They were working on an article that would be called “Women Under 30 Are Leading the Pack in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.”
4 years ago, you’d wake up around 9, get ready to go to class and have lunch with your friends, but how does time change, right? Now you were a CEO of your own company with no time for your friends or even yourself. It’s not like you hated it, you liked being a CEO and being recognised by your hard work. It made you proud and wanted to show people that if you really want something and if you work hard for it, you’ll get it.
At the main entrance, you were greeted by the staff and one of them guided you to the room where they interviewed you and took some pictures of you.
That wasn’t your first interview, but you couldn’t feel nervous because you wanted to say the right words to encourage other people.
...
“Lia, I will be back in ten minutes. Can you sort this papers out on my desk?“
“Okay, Boss.”
It was a beautiful sunny day and the office was busy as usual. You were reading the contract at the table trying to get some order into them when the door opened. Nobody just walked into your office without knocking, so of course it had to be…
“Hi mom...” you greeted her.
“Hi sweetheart,” she smirked at you. “How are you?”
“I’m great,” you nodded and placed the papers on the table, “what brings you here, mom?”
“I can’t visit my beautiful daughter?” She put her right hand on her chest.
You giggled. “Of course you can, but I’d love you to call me first.”
You stood and walked towards her, hugging her. “You want some coffee? Water?”
“I’m fine, darling. I just had brunch with a friend,” she smiled and sat in one of the chairs in front of your desk. “Speaking of which, she told me something that got me really upset at you.”
“Why?” You frowned and sat in front of her.
“Why didn’t you tell me you’re getting death threats, (Y/N)?” She looked at you.
You sighed. “Because they don’t matter. You know I don’t pay attention to that. It’s pointless.”
“We’re not talking about hate comments, (Y/N). Someone is threatening you with killing you.”
“Mom, you don’t have to w-“
“Of course I can, and I will. That’s why I contacted an old friend who used to be the Prime Minister’s bodyguard. He’s gonna meet you tomorrow,” she informed you.
“Tomorrow I can’t, I have a meeting.”
“Then you better make some space or you’ll be seeing me here everyday,” your mom smiled. “This is serious. I don’t want anything bad to happen to you. You’re my baby.”
“I can take care of myself, mom. Please, I don’t want a full team of bodyguards,” you sighed.
“You will only have 2 and you won’t even notice they’re there,” she said and placed a hand on yours. “Please.”
You stared at her for a couple of seconds and then sighed, nodding. “Okay, fine. But it’s temporary.”
“We’ll see about that.”
Later that day, after going home you went to the supermarket to get some groceries and went home. You loved cooking, but you weren’t exactly the tidiest when it came to prepare your delicious meals.
After you ate, you checked your email and realised that your mom’s friend had sent you a file with the two people that would be working with you. Somehow you expected an army of people and that annoyed you, but you thought you could with two people. You didn’t even bother to check the profiles since you knew what their work would be.
You closed your laptop and went to your bedroom. Sometimes you thought your life was boring because you barely talked to someone else. Your last relationship didn’t end well and you were still a little bit hesitant to know someone else. Or scared.
And friends? You didn’t have many, but Lena, Taeyong and Jaemin were always there for you. And so were you.
You knew Lena since you were a toddler, your mother was good friends with her parents and you two got along very well. You met Taeyong in high school when you were trying to find the science room and since he was a senior, he helped you. Everyone used to think Taeyong and you dated, but in fact, you never loved Taeyong that way. You saw him as your older brother and he as his younger sister. And last but not least, you met Jaemin through Taeyong.
At first both of you didn’t get along well since he was all an extrovert and didn’t quite understand you were a little introverted, but he with time understood and stopped forcing you. Then you became the crackheads of the group, always laughing and going out and sometimes getting drunk.
You loved college days.
And love? You met Jaehyun during your first year of college, he was in your economics class and you couldn’t help yourself falling for him. He was charming, funny and so handsome.
Jaehyun was your first everything: your first love, your first boyfriend, your first kiss and the first guy that broke your heart.
You two dated for almost 2 years, but ended when he told you he didn’t love you anymore and didn’t want to hurt you and left.
Months after that, you took the opportunity to go as an exchange student to Japan where you met Yuta. You were never a thing, but both of you had feelings for each other but never went official since you would stay there only for 6 months.
You came back to Korea and graduated, and had no time for love since you were too busy starting your business. But Yuta would come on business trips to Korea sometimes and meet you.
But the last time you saw him was a year ago.
The next morning, a tall man showed up to your office holding a black folder. Everything about him was intimidating and you knew he was your mom’s friend.
“Good morning, Miss (Y/L/N). I’m Kim Hyunwoo,” he extended his hand.
“Hi,” you greeted and you shook hands with him. “Yeah, I’ve heard about you. Please sit.”
“Thanks,” he said and sat in one of the black chairs in front of your desk. “I sent you an email yesterday, did you read it?”
“I saw it, but didn’t read it. Sorry,” you apologised.
“It’s okay, that's why I brought this,” he placed the black folder on the desk and tossed it to you. “These are the files of the people that will be working with you.”
“Why is it important to check them out? I mean, they’ll be around me 24/7.”
“Because I want you to know their abilities and their tasks.”
You sighed and grabbed the folder opening it. You saw the first man around his 30’s, no emotions showed in his face. Kang Sungho. According to his file he was specialised in driving and trained in evasive driving techniques, such as executing short-radius turns to change the direction of the vehicle, high-speed cornering, and so on.
You passed the next page and saw a picture of a man with tanned golden skin, brown hair and dark eyes. He looked intimidating. He was trained in pretty much everything, from every type of knife to every type of gun.
Impressive.
Suddenly, the door from your office opened and the air left your lungs momentarily when his eyes met yours, dark and calculating. You expected him to offer you a polite smile as most people do, but his face remained in a stern mask. You somehow prayed he wouldn’t be your bodyguard because the less thing you needed was a distraction.
“Miss (Y/L/N),” the voice of your Hyunwoo forced you to switch your gaze to him and you shoot him a questioning look. “This is Lee Donghyuck” the boy nodded slightly in your direction at the mention of his name, “he’s your new personal bodyguard.”
You couldn't help but let your eyebrows raise comically. The world somehow hated you.
“You would not even know I’m here, Miss,” Donghyuck said.
You nodded.
*
Donghyuck awoke to the steady patter of rain upon his window, droplets yet to scatter the nascent rays of the rising sun. He realised he had awoken up ten minutes before his set alarm, which made him grumble.
He got out of bed and walked to the bathroom, took a cold shower and after that, Donghyuck put on a black pants and before putting the white shirt, he put on a bulletproof vest making him look thicker and then continued with a white interior t-shirt, a white shirt, put on his tie adjusting it and lastly, he slipped on the black jacket.
Donghyuck gave himself a quick look in the mirror and sighed. He placed his hands on the countertop and asked how did he end in that position?
Yes, he was an assassin.
No, he didn't kill women.
But the money he was offered to do so was such a big amount that was almost repulsive. And he needed the money.
Donghyuck had never pretended to be someone else before, he just showed up and took down his task and then left. Now he was stuck with some random woman and follow her until she was in love with him and kill her in the worst way.
What was with people these days? He didn't want to know.
Jeno was already awake and had made breakfast, “you gotta eat well today in case you die protecting your boss,“ he  joked and sat down in front of him.
Donghyuck and Jeno had known each other for many years and were roommates. There was kindness in his smile, a good man. He knew what ‘Haechan’ did for a living, but decided to ignore it since he rather thought his friend was also a good man.
Donghyuck rolled his eyes. “I cant believe I'm doing this.”
“You can't still say no, you know?” Jeno looked at him.
“I know, but I need the money,” Donghyuck said and had a sip of coffee, “I will retire after this.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. I don't wanna do this anymore,” Donghyuck shrugged.
“Well, then get the job done and get those millions,” Jeno said and then shook his head, “that sounded awful. Ignore it.”
Donghyuck laughed. “Are you sure you don't wanna work with me?”
“One hundred percent.”
A perfectly collected black-haired woman, dressed in a skirt under her white knee and a pale pink blouse appeared in the room. "Good morning, you must be Lee Donghyuck, right?" She asked kindly.
"Yes," Donghyuck replied, "Hello, you are....?"
"I'm Yun Somin, Kim Hyunwoo personal assistant," she smiled nicely. “You’re the new bodyguard we hired a few days ago.”
"Nice to meet you,” Donghyuck expressed.
“Please, come with me so I can give you  your equipment,“ Somin said.
Donghyuck followed her to a room that was an office painted beige and champagne, and it had only one wall-sized window, which faced the buildings. On the dark brown desk sat a desktop computer, a notebook lying open, and a stack of papers sitting under a turtle-shaped paperweight and there was a swivel chair in the middle of the office. A bookshelf, bursting with books was behind the dark brown desk.
Somin opened a desk drawer and pulled out a black box that contained a small stainless steel knife, a Beretta Px4 Storm and finally a earphone for a walkie-talkie.
Donghyuck put the earphone on his ear and the walkie-talkie on the waist band. He put the gun away by placing it on the waist band as well and the knife inside the inner jacket pocket.
“(Y/N) (Y/L/N)’s codename is Sunflower. Whenever you’re public, that’s the name you’ll use,“ Somin informed.
Donghyuck nodded, “Sunflower. Got it.“
Somin opened the door for him and let him in. You were if anything was better looking than Donghyuck expected. Your face told of a leaned body beneath your wintry garb and your expression was serious but not unkind.
You were hot.
Fuck. Donghyuck thought. He was so screwed.
“You would not even know I’m here, Miss,” Donghyuck said.
You nodded and cleared your throat.  “Well, let's keep going. We have a long day coming,“You said, walking to the door.
Donghyuck walked behind you and raised his arm above his mouth and spoke into the mic, “Sunflower's going out.“
You were the smile, or at least that was what Donghyuck thought of you. Everything about you was a soft and understated joy as you greeted each person at every event. You really cared about the people and their interest and could see in your eyes your uprightness. People loved you and Donghyuck didn't quite understand why someone wanted you dead. Your kindness couldnt be the reason, could it?
“So, Donghyuck, what do you think?”
He turned back to Sungho. “She's different from every shark out there. Yeah, I’ll bet they’re lining up to off her.”
“Well, someone’s been sending some pretty disturbing emails. The NIS can’t pin the guy down.”
“They’ll find them.“ Donghyuck addressed.
The eventful day was over. You all spent the day going to different meetings with several people. You were exhausted but you were happy to see your friend Taeyong, after not seeing him for almost two months.
The black car stopped at a red light and you took the opportunity to take out your phone and reply to some text messages. You realised Donghyuck was looking at you and Donghyuck quickly looked straight ahead. “So, Donghyuck? You have been doing this for so long?”
“Not really, ma’am,“ he responded.
You considered him. He didn’t look like his concept of a bodyguard, big and beefy. He wasn't that tall. Slimy built, with a very attractive face, enigmatic yet intelligent dark eyes and dark hair. “And what did you do before?”
“I… used to train some people at a boxing gym,“ Donghycuk lied.
“Cool,” you smiled. “Maybe you could show me some movements.”
You quickly regretted saying that because of how red your cheeks got. Donghyuck smirked without looking at you.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, Donghyuck got out of the car and opened the door for you and you entered the restaurant with him following you.
"Sunflower's in," He spoke into the mic.
A young woman, with loose hair dressed all in black, took you to the restaurant's private lounge, where Taeyong was already waiting for you.
You hugged your friend and smiled, "The Bahamas suited you."
"Thank you, Woman-Under-30-Leading-the-Pack-in-Entrepreneurship-and-Innovation" Taeyong beamed and looked at Donghyuck, who stood with his back to you right at the glass door, "who is he?"
You looked at Donghyuck  and spoke as you sat down, "It's my personal bodyguard."
“Why do you have a personal bodyguard? Did something happen? ” He asked worriedly.
"Don't worry, everything’s fine," you calmed him down and grabbed the menu, opening it.
He sat in front of you and still looked worried, “how do you want me to be calm? Something is going on and you don't want to tell me. "
You smirked a little and shook your head, "really, Taeyong, everything is under control. There’s nothing to be concerned about.“
Taeyong sighed and nodded, "Okay, I will believe in your words."
You smiled satisfied and began to read the menu. Taeyong did the same. Jaemin stood in front of the door of the restaurant's private lounge but Donghyuck prevented him from entering.
"Identify," Donghyuck demanded, looking at him.
"Na Jaemin, owner and chef of this restaurant," he replied, frowning, "who are you?"
Before Donghyuck responded, you opened the door and looked at Jaemin, “I'm sorry, he's my new bodyguard. Lee Donghyuck, all right, he will have dinner with us too. "
Donghyuck nodded, “understood. Enjoy your meal, guys. "
“Thank you,“ Taeyong  responded as Donghyuck closed the door.
“I can't believe the two most influential people of Korea are here in my restaurant,“ Jaemin joked as he sat.
You chuckled, “let’s see if it’s as good as people say.“
Softly splashing water droplets hit the car windows as Sungho drove onwards. You watched the raindrops race down to the windows. You had been with Taeyong and Jaemin for almost three hours, and now you were on your way to your house.
"Sorry for staying there for a long time, you haven't even eaten," you  apologised.
“It’s fine, ma’am. It's our job,“ Donghyuck replied.
“You can call me (Y/N). We’re almost the same age,“ You said
“Even so, you’re my boss. It’s not right,“ he responded.
You chuckled and looked at him in the rearview mirror, "Well, then as your boss, I order it to you."
Donghyuck smiled and you noticed it, “I'll try it.“

Stuck on You
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO: ILLUSION
Tumblr media
↳ Pairing: Choi Soobin x Reader
↳ word count: 2k words
↳ rating: PG
↳ genre: fluff, angst
Tumblr media
Y/N released a deep breath, clutching the bathrobe close to her body as she trudged over to the jaccuzzi. The girl pursed her lips as she shivered at the cold breeze blowing by.
As soon as she arrived at the jaccuzzi, her eyes immediately landed on a shirtless figure submerged in the tub—eyes staring up at the starless sky. His hair fell in front of his eyes as he sighed softly, eyes lowering down to lock gazes with her.
“Oh, Y/N,” he said in surprise, raising his eyebrows. “you’re here.”
“Yeah, well,” Y/N shrugged. “Everyone can use the jaccuzzi right?”
“Yeah, most of them are partying or staying in their rooms, though.” Soobin pursed his lips. “What are you doing here?”
Y/N didn’t answer, trying to find a response as Soobin crossed his arms.
“Soobin,” she started softly. “I-I want to talk.”
“Oh, so now we can talk?” Soobin scoffed. “You’ve been ignoring me the whole day, I just wanted to be with you but you acted like I had the plague or something.”
“I was confused.” Y/N replied, sitting down at the side of the jacuzzi and dipping a finger in the water to avoid looking at the boy. “I had a lot of things to think about.”
“Like Beomgyu?”
“Like Yunhee.” Y/N said, exasperated. “Like the fact that you like her and that’s why we’re here.”
“Y/N, you don’t know that.”
“Actually, I do.” Y/N shook her head. “We had a whole ass contract for it, you don’t have to lie—and isn’t this better? You sat with her on the bus ride here, and I saw you talking to her in the lobby.”
Soobin didn’t answer, lips only tilting up slightly as he shook his head.
“I wanted to sit with you.” He softly replied. “I got your favorite snacks and everything, and I downloaded your favorite movies you always wanted me to watch.”
Y/N’s eyes widened a little as she processed what the boy said, blinking in confusion as Soobin shook his head.
“I had my mom teach me how to cook for this, you know.”
“You did?”
Soobin’s eyes flitted up to her, a smile on his face.
“Of course, it’s for you. Why not?”
Y/N sighed, turning back to the hotel building with a sigh.
“Sorry we didn’t get to do that.” Y/N said once more, pursing her lips.
“Food’s still in my room.”
“Tae and Kai probably broke into your suitcase and ate it all by now.” Y/N laughed, spirit lifting up at Soobin’s soft chuckles.
There was a moment of silence before Soobin straightened up.
“How can you be so smart yet so oblivious?”
Y/N shot him a confused look, making him roll his eyes.
“It’s nothing,” Soobin said, shaking his head with a sigh and a smile. “You can join me now. Come on.”
Y/N smiled, rising up and pulling her bathrobe away and revealing her swimwear—making the boy grin. His eyes raked her figure as he chuckled.
“How long were you planning to sit in the cold if you had plans to swim with me anyways?”
“Until you either invite me in or tell me to leave.”
“And if I wanted you to stay?”
Y/N didn’t answer as she waded over to stand next to Soobin. There was another moment of silence before the taller boy turned to her.
“Were you waiting for someone?” Y/N asked, turning over to him.
Soobin didn’t reply, instead, he turned his body—caging her in as he cupped his hands around her face, leaning down to press his lips on hers. The girl didn’t respond, causing the boy to pull away softly.
“I-I’m sorry, I know this isn’t in the contract.” Soobin said. “I just had to one last time, and—“
Y/N cut him off reaching out to pull on the back of his neck, tilting her head up to catch his lips with hers as his hands immediately fell on her hips and pressed her back against the walls. She can feel Soobin’s lips wrap around her bottom lip, sucking lightly before he pulled away.
His wet hands reached up, brushing her hair behind her ear as he searched her eyes.
“I’m not ready to let you go yet.” He whispered softly, leaning his forehead on hers.
“Then, don’t.” Y/N whispered back, grinning at his smile before he leaned back down and crashed his lips against hers.
Tumblr media
After many kisses and loving gazes later, Y/N and Soobin sat next to each other in the bus on the way home the next day. In front of them was Yeonjun, who took up two seats for himself and across was Kai and Taehyun—sleeping with their heads leaning against each other.
Soobin’s hand tightly gripped hers and they giggled, talking about sweet nothings for the rest of the trip. The boy leaned down, pressing loving kisses to her lips every once in a while. His arms would wrap around her figure with a satisfied smile, sighing as she leaned back against his chest.
It remained this way until the bus stopped in front of the school, the couple leaving the bus hand in hand as a sleepy Yeonjun, Taehyun and Kai followed them.
“I’m calling mom to pick me and Tae up.” Kai slurred sleepily as he wandered off, hands clumsily pulling his phone out.
Taehyun and Yeonjun agreed to take their things from the trunk, making Soobin roll his eyes.
“I’ll get our stuff.” Soobin hummed, turning over to the girl to press a soft kiss to her lips. “I’ll be back in a sec.”
Y/N smiled as the three boys wandered off, standing idly at the sidewalk as she waited. It was at this point when a girl approached her—a familiar grey hoodie wrapped around her body. Still, Y/N paid her no mind, pursing her lips as she waited for her friends to come back. She can see Soobin’s head from afar, his eyes bright as he chatted with one of their classmates.
“I’m glad you’re such a cool girlfriend, Y/N.”
Y/N sighed, turning slightly as she smiled at the girl next to her.
“Hey, Yunhee.” Y/N sid, raising her eyebrows. “What was that?”
“I said, you’re a cool girlfriend.” Yunhee smiled. “I mean, most girlfriends won’t let their boyfriends hang out inside their ex-girlfriends’ hotel rooms unmonitored, right?”
Y/N froze, eyes hardening as she smiled stiffly.
“Really?”
“Oh,” Yunhee’s eyes widened comically. “You didn’t know? He did it last night. Just until I got sleepy.”
Y/N opened her mouth to answer, a hurt expression dancing across her face. However, Y/N eyes fell towards Yunhee’s wrist as she brushed her hair. A familiar bracelet rested on her hands, making Y/N’s heart ache.
“Where did you get that?”
“Hm?” Yunhee raised her eyebrows. “Oh, this? From Soobin! I think it’s pretty, don’t you think? He gave it to me.”
Y/N didn’t answer, her eyes still stuck on the bracelet as Yunhee smiled brightly.
“I should go, bye Y/N.” Yunhee giggled. “Good luck with Binnie.”
Y/N only watched as Yunhee sauntered off.
“Ew, what was that about?” Yeonjun fake gagged as he, Soobin and Taehyun arrived back—luggages in her hands.
“What did she want?” Soobin asked, pressing a soft kiss against her neck.
Instead of melting against him like she usually would, Y/N’s eyes hardened as she turned to the boy.
“We have to talk.” She mumbled, pulling him away.
Yeonjun and Taehyun glanced at each other, shrugging as the couple left. Soobin blinked in confusion as they entered the empty field, furrowing his eyebrows in concern when the girl released him and paced angrily.
“Baby, what’s wrong?”
“Don’t.” Y/N sighed angrily, holding herself back as she turned over to him. “Did you go to her last night?”
Soobin opened and closed his mouth, wracking his brain for answers making a hurt dance across her eyes.
“Soobin, did you go to her?”
“Who?”
“Don’t play dumb with me.” Y/N pleaded, holding herself back as she bit her lip. “Did you?”
“Just a little while, that’s all.” Soobin mumbled. “She wanted to chat. I promise, that’s it.”
“If that’s it—why didn’t you tell me?” Y/N whispered, shaking her head before asking him another question. “Before or after the hot tub?”
Soobin hesitated, looking down at his hands.
“Soobin.”
“Why is that important?”
By this point, Y/N was holding her tears back. She can feel her heart breaking in her chest.
“Fine.” Y/N spoke, stilling herself as she held her head up. “My bracelet—I told you it was important. Why did she have it?”
“I—She took it.” Soobin sighed. “I was occupied so, I forgot to take it back. I swear.”
“You forgot or you didn’t want to?”
Soobin stepped forward, taking her hands.
“Y/N, it’s not like that.” Soobin said.
His words didn’t help at all. Hurt and heartbreak danced across Y/N’s features, and Soobin can feel his own heart crack at the tears pooling in her eyes.
“Baby.”
“You didn’t stop her from taking it—why?”
“Y/N, stop.”
“Is it because it’s her? Because she wanted it?”
“Y/N—“
“You just can’t say no to her, can you?”
Y/N softly pulled herself away from his grasp, shaking her head as tears fell down her cheeks.
“It’s because you still love her, right?” Y/N chuckled sarcastically. “All this time I was holding onto some stupid illusion that maybe it’s my turn to be chosen. How stupid was I?”
Soobin tried to reply, tried to find a way to defend himself and stop her from leaving—but he felt his thoughts go haywire when he saw her slowly backing away from him. Guilt and hurt crept up his chest as he stepped forward once more.
“Y/N, wait—“
“That’s enough.” An irritated voice piped up before a hand grasped the girl’s arm.
“Beomgyu?” asked as the boy stepped forward, running a hand through his hair.
The said boy shot Y/N a quick smile before shooting a glare at Soobin.
“You’ve done enough for today.” Beomgyu said to the older before placing his arm around Y/N’s shoulders. “Come on, let’s go home.”
“Y/N, wait.” Soobin said, rushing forward and grabbing her hand. Y/N turned back to him, and so did Beomgyu—who had an annoyed expression. “Please don’t leave with him. Let me explain.”
“Okay.” Y/N said, turning back to him expectantly as Yeonjun arrived at the scene—frantic eyes dancing between the three. “Explain, Soobin.”
Soobin didn’t reply.
His eyes were frantically shifting between Y/N, their joined hands, Beomgyu, a frantic Yeonjun and a confused Taehyun and Kai. Soobin ran his hands through his hair as he stuttered, trying to find a way to justify his actions.
“The bracelet was—I went to—“ Soobin wracked his thoughts before sighing and looking up. “I didn’t think the bracelet was that important.”
Beomgyu walked back up to the couple, prying Soobin’s hand off of the girl before dragging her away—Y/N only following sullenly as Soobin called after her. With an angry expression, Yeonjun walked forward and slammed Soobin’s car keys against his chest.
“Hyung—“
“The bracelet was one of the things Y/N’s parents gave her for a job well done when we were still kids—and you know how insecure Y/N is with her sister.” Yeonjun explained. “But even if it were useless, she told you it was important, but you didn’t care enought o remember that.”
“Hyung, I—“
“Do you even like her at least a little bit?”
Soobin’s eyes widened as he looked up at the elder, almost offended at the insinuation that he didn’t.
“Hyung, of course I do!” Soobin argued. “I can’t imagine what I’ll do without her—“
“Then, show it.” Yeonjun said, shaking his head. “I’ve had enough of people treating her like shit. I just thought you wouldn’t be one of them.”
Soobin stayed silent, mulling over his thoughts as Yeonjun scoffed.
“Guess I was wrong.”
The tall boy can only watch as Yeonjun stormed off, his heart breaking as he thought of the girl he let down.

Pairing: Actor!Hamish Duke x Male!Reader
Requested: Yes
Original Request: “Hi for the fairy tale au could you do a Cinderella kinda story where he has a bad family but then against their wishes he goes to a party and meets the famous actor and singer hamish duke and they fall for each other”
------------------
Hamish Duke hated parties.
Well, that wasn’t really true; he didn’t hate all parties, just the galas his mother threw to raise money for one charity or another. Hamish really didn’t mind that the parties benefitted charities, but he didn’t like the way that the wealthy people who attended them used them as an excuse to show off just how much better than everyone else they thought they were.
He would avoid them if he could, but with his newly-found fame brought on by a lucky break in the entertainment industry, his mother had started dragging him along to all of her over-the-top events since she thought that her son’s fame would drive up attendance.
Of course, she had been right about that, but that also meant that Hamish spent the duration of each of the grand balls hosted in his family’s manor being mobbed by people that were far too old and had been married far too long for him to feel comfortable dancing with them.
It was one such night and Hamish had only narrowly escaped the clutches of Mrs. Smith, a wizened old woman with beady green eyes who always dug her overly-manicured nails into his shoulder when he danced with her the way an alley cat might sink its claws into a mouse, when he ran directly into one of the servers. The waiter’s tray tipped at the sudden impact, spilling champagne over them both.
(E/c) eyes widened almost comically behind the uniform black mask that all of the staff were wearing as he realized what he’d done. “I’m so sorry,” the waiter exclaimed, seeming torn between trying to wipe the champagne away with the decorative towel slung over his arm and being too nervous about ruining Hamish’s suit further to try. “Are you alright?”
Hamish chuckled, the first genuine laugh that had escaped him all night. He was nearly as surprised by the sound as the (h/c) that had accidentally assaulted him. “I’m fine. I’m tougher than I look,” he teased.
“Well,” The (h/c) started, “That’s good to hea-”
He was interrupted by the sound of an older woman shrieking, calling out loudly for someone to help her in the kitchen.
The server winced, panic flooding his otherwise beautiful (e/c) eyes, and Hamish felt the sudden urge to intervene. He peered over the crowd in an effort to track down the disgruntled woman before he reached out, taking the stranger’s wrist in his hand and gently tugging him along behind him until they’d made it out of the ballroom.
“Where are we going?” Hamish’s new companion asked, clearly confused. “I should really be getting back to work before my manager has a conniption.”
“Your manager, huh? Was that the lady that was yelling for you?” Hamish asked, curious what could possibly make someone work for someone who seemed so mean. “Why do you put up with her?”
The stranger nodded slowly, like he was afraid he’d give too much away. “I don’t really have a choice.”
“Really? Surely there’s better options out there,” Hamish protested, thinking back to the way the woman’s face had flushed red as she bellowed at her employees before the event had started.
He shrugged, tugging awkwardly at the sleeves of his jacket as he tried to focus on anything but the conversation. “She’s also my mother.”
Hamish stopped in his tracks, stunned. He turned to look at the former server with wide eyes, “Your mother…? How is someone as nice as you related to someone like that?!”
His companion huffed a light laugh and Hamish felt pleased that he’d been able to brighten his mood, “Well, technically she’s my step-mother, but she’s all I’ve got left and I can’t really pay for college without a job so…” He shrugged again, brows furrowing as a thought hit him, “Hey, you never said where we’re going?”
The blond grinned, tugging a fraying tapestry out of the way to reveal a hidden hallway. “Do you trust me?”
“I don’t even know your name,” he retorted, crossing his arms over his chest protectively.
“Well, that’s easy enough to fix,” Hamish grinned. “My name’s Hamish Duke. What’s yours?”
“(M/N),” he answered reflexively, eyes widening as he recognized the name. “Wait, Hamish Duke? Like the actor? Like the son of the lady hosting the party?”
Hamish laughed, nodding. “Yes, just like that.”
“I’m dead.” (M/N) said resolutely. “I’m dead because my mom’s going to kill me when she realizes that I spilled champagne all over one of the most famous people in the state.”
The blond rolled his eyes, cocking his head toward the tunnel again, “You coming with me or are you on your way to the graveyard?”
“Very funny,” he started, cutting himself off as his step-mother’s voice echoed down the hallway. “I’m right behind you.” Hamish grinned, taking (M/N)’s hand in his and tugging him along the hidden path behind him.
--------
Moments passed in almost complete darkness and companionable silence as Hamish led you through the twists and turns of the hidden tunnel, until finally the two of you emerged out into a dimly lit room with the furniture pushed back and out of the way, leaving the center of the room bare.
“What is this place?” You asked quietly as Hamish released your hand and made his way to the center of the room.
He hummed his acknowledgement softly as he started to unbutton his suit jacket, tossing the wet garment aside and sprawling out on his back to look up at the ceiling. “Come join me?” he asked quietly.
You followed his gaze upward, breath catching in your throat as you realized what this room was meant to be. Instead of finding an ordinary ceiling the way any other room might have, the ceiling here towered above you in an arching dome made out of crystal clear glass, allowing the two of you a flawless view of the stars.
“Wow,” you breathed, edging forward to lay down beside him. “This is incredible.” “Yeah.” Hamish agreed, “Breathtaking.” You couldn’t bring yourself to check, but the weight of his gaze had you suspecting that he wasn’t talking about the stars. He remained quiet for a long moment before letting out a quiet sigh and beginning to speak, “I used to come here a lot when I was a kid. When my problems always felt so big and it seemed like that was all there was, I’d sneak up here and look up at the sky and it would remind me that there’s more to life than the moments you feel trapped.”
You hummed softly as you pondered his words. “It’s hard to imagine that someone like you could ever feel trapped,” you mused.
Hamish laughed, tipping his head toward you so he could look at you, “I wasn’t always an actor. I am a law-school dropout, y’know?”
Your brows furrowed incredulously as you turned to meet his eyes, “Really?”
Hamish nodded solemnly, ocean blue eyes glimmering in amusement, “Oh, definitely. I spent a lot of time up here after my father found out about that decision.”
You hesitated as you realized just how personal this observatory was to him, eventually forcing yourself to ask the question that had been weighing on you, “Why did you bring me here?”
“I’m not sure,” he said after a moment of thought. “Does it sound crazy if I say that it felt like I was meant to know you?”
You shook your head, turning back to face the glimmering stars. “No. I think things are meant to happen for a reason.” You huffed when your phone chimed in your pocket, wincing when you noticed your step-mom’s name as the contact before reading the text. “I have to go; the party’s ended and the staff has to leave. I’ll be lucky if I’m not fired when I get home.”
“Everything happens for a reason, huh?” Hamish murmured under his breath, eyes fixing on you determinedly as you pushed yourself back to your feet. “Hey, you said you only work for her to pay for college, right? What if I offered you a better job?”
Your brows furrowed as you turned back to look at Hamish, “What are you talking about?”
“Your stepmother? You only let her treat you like that because you need the money?” Hamish prompted, getting to his feet and moving to stand before you, “What if I make you a better offer?”
You smile but shake your head, getting ready to refute his questions.
Hamish pressed on, interrupting your line of thought, “I’ll give you ten thousand dollars if you agree to go on a date with me.”
Your heart stopped in your chest as you struggled to comprehend what Hamish had just told you, “Hamish, no. I can’t accept that-”
“Please,” he said, taking your hand gently in his. “You deserve so much better; give me a chance to give you that.”
As the clock began to chime midnight and the stars glimmered merrily through the shining glass ceiling, you leaned forward to kiss Hamish, resolving to yourself that, even though you weren’t going to take the money from him, this would not be the last time you saw him.

(un)loving miya atsumu
one.
the beginning of everything
then...
The place was new, that much was clear.
The buildings, houses were comparably bigger than the ones you’re used to.
And it was a lot less cold, since you weren't in Miyagi anymore.
It had been a long drive to Hyougo.
"Nee-san," you poked at your older sister's shoulder, she lazily stirred. On your other side was your younger brother, who dozed off as well. And then there was you, awake. For 12 hours. Not a wink of sleep. For some reason, you couldn't sleep during trips. Your uncle had said maybe because you were an anxious traveler, your mom would like to think that your mind was too active and liked to take things in.
You didn't know.
Hey, you were only 9.
A long way from home and into your new home in Kobe, Hyogo.
The whole trip - process, included, had been a blur. You could make out holding your sister and brother’s hands, hugging your crying kind neighbors and playmates, but feeling like a robot throughout the process.
And now, with your feet planted on the ground, (e/c) eyes just taking everything in - it was a lot to take in.
As was the house, the house you visited a few times – maybe once or twice. It was bigger, much bigger than your old one – wider, a two-story building, but enough to house four more guests.
On the way, you caught your uncle and mother’s conversation about how the suburb they’re living in is one of the best in Hyogo, boasting a view of the Sakuras which the youngins (you included) will definitely enjoy in time for spring, and was close to the station and the few minutes’ drive away from his work, where she’ll be joining soon.
You stand in front of your new home, examining the streets, noting the abundance of trees – sakuras, especially, like your uncle said. Leaning to your side, lifting your one leg away, you found a park just five blocks away, your brother would surely love that.
Planting your feet back, you gaze back into your house. Taking a deep breath, as though to have a feel of the area, a voice suddenly called out.
"Hey, who're you?"
Blinking, you turned.
"Oi, don't be rude, Atsumu." another voice says next to him.
You blink again.
Twins.
Twin boys.
They looked to be about your age, standing a few feet away from your home, peering curiously at your uncle's truck, the boxes, and you.
"But hey, who're you?" one of them asks.
"Are you new here?" says the other.
Their accents were rather thick even for their age, rising with every syllable and somewhat airy compared to the standard Tohoku dialect you were used to.
"Yes." You reply simply.
Before another word was said, your uncle appears from behind you, a gentle hand on your head. "Well, if it isn't my favorite Miya boys - Atsumu and Osamu!"
"Uncle!" the twins says in unison, rather energetically.
Laughing, he wrapped an arm around you as he stood next to you. “What’re you boys up to, eh? Trouble?”
“No way!” says one, pitch rising. His twin beside him murmurs, “Maybe.”
“Oi, Osamu, way to keep a secret.”
Amused by the twins, you let out a chortle then a smile. It lasted for a quick second, but the two caught on it.
"Aha, so you can smile!" one of the twins pointed at you, his stubby finger just inches from your face.
"Atsumu, don't point!" his twin slaps his finger away. "s'rude, and ya might poke her eyes out!"
Beside you, your uncle chuckles at the two, seemingly used to their antics.
You just stare at the twins - at their identical features down to the littlest details. And then it came to you.
"You're Atsumu," you looked at the boy to your left, who jumped at your voice. "And you're Osamu." you say to the boy to your right, who blinks twice at you. "Right?"
The twins blinked at you, eyes wide like saucers, then looked at each other in silence, then to you. It was almost comical how the twins reacted to something like this, and just how in sync they were.
Beside you, your uncle throws his head back and lets out a guffaw. "That's my (Y/N)! Such a smart cookie!"
Feeling his large hand ruffle your head, you ducked your tiny head and smiled a little, feeling warm and proud all at once.
"How did you know!?" Atsumu yelled, demanded, stepping in front of you.
"Atsumu," Osamu said in warning, pulling him back harshly. "sorry 'bout this one."
You smile at Osamu in understanding, already liking his calm demeanor as opposed to his twins.
You shook your head at the two, leaning against your uncle as you continued to stare the twins down. Man, they sure were full of energy and perfectly balance each other out. Without even knowing, the corners of your lips quirk into a smile.
Tumblr media
now...
A blur of blue, yellow, and red slowly lands on the ground, just inches away from the line, as players desperately try to save it. But it was for not. The ball lands with a smack.
The referee raises a flag, an in.
The whistle blows.
And then the stadium bursts with joy.
Inarizaki has won the first set.
“Hey, manager-?!”
“Service ace is in favor of Atsumu.” Just as he threw his fist in the air to celebrate, you added. “More than half were fails, by the way." At that, the teen flinches. "You got way too excited for the rest.” The team snickers, Osamu gloating in the background.
“The fact that she actually kept score is amazing.” Ginjima said in awe.
“Nothing escapes her, what a reliable manager!” Kosaku praises with a smile.
"There's nothing noteworthy about that," Kita adds, arms folded over his chest, the two players quickly silenced and felt a shiver run down their spine. "but if it helps boost morale and keep the peace, then it's fine."
“Kita-san and Manager are always in sync, that's just creepy,” Suna thought aloud as he took a sip.
Someone’s hand lands on your head as you check your notes one last time, it was the captain’s. “Well, when you have a reliable manager, all is well!”
Thinning a smile, you nod at everyone. “Come on now, we should head to the other court.”
Although he was not a regular player, Kita was there beside you to act as an assistant manager. He’d also be there to give tips and give the team a much needed scolding that their lax captain couldn’t give. It was both coaches and the vice-captain’s idea. It also helped that you were there, too. Ever the hard-working, illustrious and known for the moniker – ‘Inarizaki’s Fox Keeper’.
Just as you turn, you felt arms wrapped around your shoulder. “Let’s win this shit!”
“’Tsumu, get off (Y/N), you’re tainting her with your stupidity,” says Osamu, appearing beside you.
“Ha!? Shut up, ya scrub!”
“Why don’t you say that to my face!”
“I am in your face, you asshole!”
The twins’ yelling sounded off, their noise adding to the excitement of the tournament. Practically all eyes were on you, because of the twins.
Used to this, you decide to speak your mind. “Guys, I am in between this childish tomfoolery.”  To which the twins flinch at, comically look at you in unison.
“Oi, that’s foul play, (Y/N)-chan.” Atsumu says, pulling you close.
“Yeah, you know we’re both too stupid to understand complex words.” Osamu seconds, pinching at strands of your hair.
“Yeah- HUH!? WHO’RE YA CALLIN’ STUPID?”
Reaching the other side of the court, you were stuck between the twins as they fought for the nth time as the rest of the team watches.
And then there was you, a faint smile on your lips.
You wouldn’t have it any other way.
Tumblr media
Wriggling out of your uncle’s arms, you announced that you were heading inside, barely sparing the twins another look.
Suddenly, out came your sister from the car, rubbing at her eyes as she walks towards you. "(Y/N)!!!!! Why didn't you tell me we were here already?"
“You looked like you needed the extra sleep,” you told her, taking your still sleeping brother from her arms. “Seriously, he sleeps like a log.” You comment on your baby brother, tucking his head on your shoulder.
Looking behind you, your sister asks, “Who’s uncle talking to?”
“The neighbors.”
She perks at that, ever the social butterfly that she was. “Oh! Let’s go say ‘hi’ then!”
“You do that, I’ll get inside, get Kaoru into a bed or something, then help mom out.”
Pouting, your big sister grabs the back of your shirt. “Geh, come on!!!! You’re no fun, (Y/N)!”
“Oya, Mika-chan, you’re awake! Come, come, say hi!”
Smiling at your uncle’s words, your big sister practically skips to his side, grinning toothily as she introduces herself. “Hi! I’m (L/N) Mika!”
“Nice ‘ta meetcha!” Atsumu grins back, swiping the underside of his nose. “The name’s Atsumu.”
“Osamu,” his twin says with a small smile.
As one, the twins look behind your sister, meeting your gaze, almost expectantly. Not long after, so does your big sister.
With a sigh, you hoist your little brother in your arms, walking towards them. “(Y/N),” you mutter. Your big sister bumps her hips to yours, you cry in pain softly. “Hi, I’m (Y/N).” She bumps again, with a slight frown on her face, you paid no mind. “And this sleeping lump is Kaoru.”
“Ain’t this adorable, the youngins catching up!” your uncle exclaims, happily.
Mika grins widely at the two boys, who grin back at the you all in turn.
From that moment on, you knew these twins would be a part of your lives, yours, especially, for better or for worst.
