- NEG Matthew Patel and His Angel Hipster Gals, they are very passive-aggressive. The gal's aren't very supportive of the idea of fighting, so it doesn't help that Matthew doesn't want to be fighting scott in the first place.

He secretly hopes Ramona will feel bad for him and how she suddenly left him, but pity isn't really on his side. Ramon looks for a man who is much stronger than him. He summons water type weapons from his tears in a display of devotion, but all it does it bore his ex while being commanded by the senseless booing of his watchful shoulder angels. It was an easy win for Neg Scott.

real simple analysis of one element in Scott Pilgrim, pretty liberal relationship with spoilers

so Scott has this one coat that he put an X-Men patch on, it's heavily implied the patch is handmade

this is because Scott is a dork

but that coat shows up in two particular story beats: basically throughout the entire first book, and after from when he leaves to fight the twins after they've taken Kim to when he goes to confront Gideon in the Chaos Theatre

during both times he's carrying an X on his person; literally carrying the weight of being an ex, and self-identifying as such

first as Envy's ex - hence why the relationship with Knives borders on the farcical and that multiple characters comment he's still on the grieving period, and why the coat only goes away after he gets confirmation from Ramona that this isn't just a week-long fling

then as Ramona's ex, even if he doesn't know it when he first dons it, and he keeps that going basically just after the fight and absorption of Nega-Scott, which is when all the memories of his past and current relationships flood him; he takes the coat off entirely at the Chaos Theatre, so when finally gets into the fight - he both no longer sees himself as an ex (and thus can confront Gideon), and it's also telling us, the audience, that he isn't one either

the Chaos Theatre has some other nice clothes-work too for Scott: he's forced to wear Gideon's clothes after he spills booze all over himself, but the whole thing is a back and forth affair until Scott unlocks The Power of Understanding and can look at his own past relationship breakups, compare them to Gideon (who keeps his exes frozen, literally), and when he unlocks the Power of Understanding, it mimics the colors of the Plumtree shirt he's wearing through the fight with Matthew Patel (when he establishes that the relstionship is more than a fling, and that it will keep going), but it has a star down the center - which is Ramona's motif!

there will be more like this in the future I think
