So Long
Summary: Jenna and Dean have known each other since she was 9 and he was 11. Their fathers often hunted together, so they grew up in next door motel rooms, keeping each other company and watching out for Sammy. They were inseparable until their dads inevitably fought and stopped working together. Shortly after Sam left for college, her father had been killed on a hunt and his dad had been more and more distant, so they started hunting together. In a world where everyone has a tattoo of their soulmate’s name that appears somewhere on them on their 16th birthday, it took them a ridiculous amount of time to figure things out.
Word Count: 4.6k
A/N: I’ve always really loved the soulmate cliché, so I decided to write one of my own. As I was figuring out the basics of what I wanted to do, Niall Horan’s song So Long came on my playlist. It’s a beautiful song and I realized how well it fit the story I was trying to come up with, so this is based off of it.
A/N 2: So I just jumped back on the Supernatural bandwagon. While I was never truly off the wagon per se, it was more of a background appreciation for it while I was interested in other things. But I finally convinced myself to finish season 15 and now I'm all in again.
I remembered this fic I started like four years ago. I never posted it because it wasn't finished. It's still not, but I went back and reread what I have so far, and I'm actually super happy with it. So, that being said, I'm going to admit that I'm a super inconsistent writer. I might be super motivated to write for a few days (which I definitely am right now) and then not write again for a year. That's half the reason I never posted it. The other half is because, while I don't actually write things down often, I make stories in my head constantly and I've realized that I often go back and change details to fit the new direction I've decided to go in. And so I didn't want to post this until I was all done in case I wanted to make changes. But I decided I can edit and let people know things changed if it comes to that. I'm hoping if I can get some people to see this and get a little feedback, it will keep me motivated to write. All feedback is appreciated! Tell me what you liked. Tell me what could improve. Let me know if you find any grammar errors or inconsistencies. As long as it’s said nicely, I’m glad for absolutely any comments you might have.
My plan is to update weekly to give myself time to get the next chapters done. The second chapter is currently done/super close to done. Not sure if I want to add more to it or move it to another chapter. I’ve got a decent start on chapter 3 also. With the outline I have currently, this story is set to be 8 chapters. That could easily change though.
Also, shoutout to @jerkbitchidjitassbutt. You probably don’t even remember, but you read this chapter over for me way back when I first wrote it, so thanks for the support you gave me then!
Sorry for the super long note, and thanks for reading this far if you did!

Looking back through changes Where we started from Don’t know about you but I Knew it wasn’t wrong
Ages 16 and 17 June 25, 1996
I woke up, not exactly expecting to feel different, but maybe hoping. Today I would find out who my soulmate was. At least, I’d get a first name. Even though I knew it was stupid to get my hopes up, I couldn’t help but secretly want it to be Dean’s name. I was also nervous. Did I really want to know? If it wasn’t Dean, how would I deal with the disappointment? But if it was Dean, how could I possibly approach a subject like that? And even then, it wouldn’t mean it was Dean Winchester I was meant to be with. There were other Deans in the world. And wouldn’t he have said something by now if my name was tattooed on him somewhere?
Taking a deep breath, I looked over all of the skin currently exposed by my pajamas. Nothing on my arms or legs from the knees down.  I looked at the clock and saw that it was already 9:30. I couldn’t believe I’d slept that long, that my dad had let me!
I jumped out of bed, grabbing my towel and clothes for the day, heading straight for the shower. I’d made one friend in this small Louisiana town, a very outgoing girl I’d bumped into while getting groceries with Sam and Dean. She’d been excited to meet someone new, saying all of her friends were on vacation for the summer, and she and I were supposed to meet up soon to spend the day together.
I started the shower to let the temperature adjust and then started the process of removing my clothes, checking each inch of revealed skin for a name. Nothing yet, then. Supposedly, the name showed up around the time of day you were born. I had no idea what time that was, so I would let Alyssa distract me for the day and check again tonight.
When I came out of the bathroom wearing shorts and a t-shirt with my hair in a ponytail to combat some of the summer heat, my dad was just closing the door, chocolate chip muffins, my favorite breakfast food, in his hand.
“Happy birthday,” he smiled. “How does it feel to be sixteen?” He asked this question every year, but this was the big year, and it held a little more weight behind it. “It feels… pretty much the same as every other year I guess.” I told him honestly. Other than my nerves being slightly on edge with the upcoming soulmate reveal, it felt like any other day. “What are you still doing here? I thought you and John would’ve left by now.”
“That was the original plan, but I couldn’t leave without seeing my daughter on her birthday. I wanted to have the chance to eat breakfast together. The case can wait a couple hours.” He told me, sitting down at the table.
“Where are those two shadows of yours?” He teased as I took a seat across from him and grabbed a muffin. I knew he wouldn’t ask about my tattoo. He didn’t like people prying into his life and he didn’t pry into mine. He knew I’d tell him if I wanted to.
“I have no idea,” I replied as I peeled the wrapper off my muffin. “I haven’t seen either of them, but I just got up. Thanks for letting me sleep in by the way.”
“I figured one day can’t hurt. But don’t think you can go slacking off. It’s back to morning runs and training after this.” He said before taking a bite of his own muffin. “I still don’t understand why those boys aren’t here. You three make such a big deal out of each other’s birthdays, I half expected them to break down the door.” He mused.
“Maybe they forgot. And we don’t make ‘such a big deal.’ One present and a movie night isn’t too much to ask. Besides, it’s mostly Sam. Dean always made a big deal about his birthdays growing up and so Sam learned to do the same for us.” I told him.
“Yeah but a bunch of kids scrounging up enough money to get those presents for each other is a big deal.” He said with a fond smile. Taking the last bite of his muffin, he stood and grabbed something off of the counter. “Speaking of presents,” he said as he handed it to me.
“Dad, you didn’t have to.” I told him as I grabbed it.
“I know I didn’t, but it’s not every day your baby girl turns sixteen. It’s not much, but I thought you would enjoy it.” He replied a little awkwardly.
I grinned and wrapped my arms around him, Backstreet Boys CD clutched in my hand. I had found them on accident really. It was all Alyssa’s fault. I generally enjoyed the same music as Dean, but she had showed me one of their songs and I couldn’t get it out of my head. Dad had heard me humming it one day which led to an embarrassing confession.
“Don’t tell Dean.” I pleaded, knowing the endless teasing and likely judgment I would be on the receiving end of if he found out. “Oh, I wouldn’t dare.” Dad laughed, pulling away from the hug.
“I should probably go find him though,” I said, glancing at the clock. “I’m supposed to meet Alyssa soon and he said he’d drive me.”
“Have fun!” I heard him shout as I left our motel room. I saw the Impala parked by the room next door, so I knew he was here at least. Since Dean has legally been able to drive, John gave it to Dean and the two of them take either my dad’s truck or the one John had purchased after gifting Dean the Impala. As I raised my hand to knock, the door flew open.
“Oh!” John said, startled. “I was just going to tell your dad we need to get going. I’m glad you’re up.” Then he was in the motel room I’d just abandoned, not waiting for my response.
“Hi to you to.” I mumbled under my breath. I walked through the door John had left open to see Dean sprawled out on the couch. He turned to me when I closed the door and grinned.
“Hey, there’s the birthday girl!” He exclaimed, prompting Sam to run out of the bathroom, dressed and looking fresh from the shower, toothbrush in his mouth.
“Jenna! You’re here! I wanted to go to your room a while ago, but Dean told me to let you sleep. Were you sleeping?” Before I could answer him, he rushed on. “He told me you’re going to spend the day with your friend, but we’re still going to have our movie night, right? We have to have our movie night. It’s our tradition!”
“Breathe, Sam.” I chuckled. “Of course we’re having movie night. It wouldn’t be a birthday without it. Now how about you go finish brushing your teeth before you start drooling on the floor.” Content with my answer, he hurried back to the bathroom, hand cupped under his chin where toothpaste bubbles were trying to drip down.
“So,” Dean drawled, getting up off the couch. “The big 16. How’s it feel?” He walked over to stand next to me and, not for the first time, I was struck with how effortlessly gorgeous he was. His hair was tousled and still slightly damp from the shower he must have taken this morning. He wore his usual jeans, t-shirt, flannel, and boots, the amulet Sam had given him hanging around his neck, but somehow, he was the most attractive guy I had ever seen. I knew it wasn’t a biased opinion, every girl in every school always drooled after him.
“I assume it feels the same as you felt a year ago.” I replied once my brain started functioning again. “You still good to take me to meet Alyssa?” I asked.
“Sweetheart, have I ever bailed on you?” He asked, mock offended.
“Well…” I trailed off, remembering the handful of times Sam and I had been left to fend for ourselves while he was off with a girl. When I saw him looking at me expectantly, I sighed. “Not when it really counted, no.” I relented.
“Did you ask her yet?” Sam questioned, reappearing from the bathroom and heading for Dean. Dean sighed and looked at me. “Is it ok with you if Sam comes with to drop you off? I don’t know why he’s even asking. I know you don’t care, but he wouldn’t leave me alone about it this morning.”
“That’s not true!” Sam denied. “He told me I could come if you said yes, and I know you usually don’t care, but since you’re 16 today I thought you might want to talk.” He stated matter-of-factly.
“Talk about what?” I asked, brow wrinkled in confusion. There’s not much Dean and I didn’t talk about in front of the kid. I don’t know why he thought there was suddenly a need for privacy or what being 16 had to do with it. “About-” he started, but then cut himself off, looking anxious. “I don’t know.” He continued, head down and shuffling his feet. “Just… being 16?”
I looked to Dean, hoping for some kind of explanation, but he just shrugged his shoulders, although he seemed a little annoyed, like he knew more than he was letting on. I wasn’t in the mood to press the issue though.
“Ok…. Well I don’t have any super-secret conversations that need to be had with your brother, so if you want to come along, that’s fine.” I assured Sam.
“Good! When are we leaving?” He asked excitedly.
“If Dean’s ready, then right now would be good.” I replied, looking to Dean. He answered by shrugging on his leather jacket, plucking the keys off the table and holding the door open for me.
With everyone piled in the car, Dean started toward the mall where I was supposed to meet Alyssa. It was a typical car ride, Sam chattering away in the back, and Dean humming along to Led Zeppelin. I told Dean where to park. Alyssa wasn’t there yet, but I was content to sit and wait with the boys.
“I thought we might have to wait until tonight to give this to you, but I’m glad we don’t have to.” Sam said excitedly, pulling a box out of his jacket pocket. “It was my idea to get this kind of present for you, but Dean helped me pick it out.” He looked to his brother with a proud smile before handing the box to me.
I was a little nervous to open it. Sam was so excited, I didn’t want to disappoint him if I didn’t like it. Although he’d never say anything, I could tell Dean was a little nervous too by the way he tensed his shoulders and bit his lip. I carefully opened the box and gasped.
Inside was a bracelet made from ribbons of silk. It was twisted around so that it looked like four different strands. The top and bottom of each ribbon was an olive green while the middle was mulberry. One of the ribbons wrapped through a gold button that was used to adjust the size. I couldn’t believe something so beautiful was for me.
“I love it!” I told them as I took it out of the box to place on my left wrist. I noticed Dean’s quiet, relieved exhale and turned to hug him. “Thank you.” I whispered. He wrapped his arms around me before mumbling a quiet “You’re welcome,” into my hair.
“And thank you too!” I said, pulling away from Dean to face a fidgety, giddy looking Sam in the back. He flung his upper body over the seat to get a hug of his own. “You’re gonna have a pretty hard time topping this one.” I informed him as I sat back. Sam just grinned.
“My friend at the last school had a bracelet that she wore all the time and I asked her if that was a good idea for a 16th birthday present for you,” he explained. “She said if you like jewelry it was a good idea, and I know you like Dean's amulet, so I told him about my idea and he said we’d keep an eye out for anything you might like. There was a lot of stuff I thought you would like, but Dean kept saying they weren’t right.” I glanced at Dean and saw a slight blush gracing his freckled cheeks.
“He liked that one as soon as he saw it. I didn’t know why you’d like it any better than any of the ones I pointed out, but I know you guys know each other really well so I just told him to make sure you knew getting a bracelet was my idea.” He finished, slightly out of breath.
Before I could say anything to assure Sam I appreciated his efforts and relieve Dean of his embarrassment, there was a knock on my window. Startled, I jumped a little before facing the window where Alyssa stood waiting. Turning to look at the boys, I thanked them again for the amazing present and then opened the door to get out of the car and say hi to her. As I was closing the door, I heard Dean say my name.
“Just a second.” I said to Alyssa before opening the door again and sticking my head in. “What’s up?” I asked.
“I was just wondering when and where I should be picking you up.” He replied. “Oh, right. I didn’t even think about that.” I said, turning to Alyssa to figure out the details. “Cleary.” He teased. I looked back at him, sarcastic comment at the ready, but I saw the twinkle in his eye and knew he was just joking. I shushed him and closed the door, turning to once again face Alyssa.
“I can drive you back, it’s no problem.” She assured me.
“Are you sure? Dean doesn’t have anything else he needs to be doing, and I know he likes to do it anyway. He’s a bit protective like that. The first time he dropped Sam off at a friend’s I thought he was going to sit outside the house the whole time.” I told her, smiling at the memory.
“It’s really no problem. I don’t have any definite plans for the day so I wouldn’t know what to tell him anyway.” She said.
“Ok…” I trailed off, giving her one last chance to change her mind. She gave me a look, clearly stating that she wouldn’t so I passed the information on to Dean.
“You don’t even have a guess about when you’ll be done?” He asked. I knew he liked to have a timeline so if someone wasn’t back when they were expected he would know something was wrong. If he didn’t have any schedule to follow, he’d spend the whole time worrying, unsure if something had happened or we just weren’t done yet.
“Well I have to be back in time for movie night,” I reminded him with a wink in Sam’s direction, “so I won’t be gone any later than… say 8:30? That should give us time to watch a couple of movies before Sam passes out.”
“Yeah, ok.” Dean relented, slightly less on edge now that he had a set time. “Have fun.” He smiled. I closed the door and watched them drive off.
“Are you ready to do some shopping?” Alyssa asked with a grin.
~~~~~
“You have to have a swimsuit!” Alyssa insisted as we walked by racks of them at Kohl’s. “Not if you never go swimming, you don’t.” I countered.
“But what if you do go swimming? What are you going to wear then?” She argued. “I don’t know. I’m sure if the opportunity came up, I’d just go buy one.” I told her. “Then why not buy one now?” She asked.
“Because,” I sighed. “We move around a lot. We’re not exactly hitting up five-star hotels with pools or renting homes that have one. I think the last time I went swimming was when I was 12 and the house we were renting had a pond.”
“Ok, well I have a pool, it’s the middle of summer in Louisiana, and I might invite you over to swim sometime. Besides, I’m buying so you can’t really argue that much.” She said, flipping her strawberry blonde hair as she turned and pulled me towards the swimwear.
“That’s a nice bracelet,” she commented, looking at my wrist where I was half-heartedly searching through a rack of one-piece swimsuits. “Yeah,” I smiled. “Sam and Dean gave it to me for my birthday.”
“It’s pretty. I didn’t think boys were any good at finding decent jewelry.” She remarked as she moved on to the next rack. She didn’t like the one-pieces anyway and had only been humoring me, ironic since I was only humoring her about the swimsuits in general.
“I swear Dean has some sort of sixth sense for what people will like. Well,” I corrected, “not people. But me and Sam.”
“This one! You have to try this one!” Alyssa said excitedly, breaking me out of my thoughts. I looked to where she was holding a white and blue two-piece. “I know you didn’t want a two-piece, but this isn’t a bikini. It doesn’t show much more than a one-piece would.” Seeing my hesitation, she continued. “Just try it on. If you hate it, we’ll put it back.”
“Yes!” She cheered, seeing my resignation. She handed the suit to me and led the way to the changing rooms.
It was definitely a nice-looking suit, I’d give her that much. The top piece was thick enough all the way through that there was no danger of anything showing. It had a clasp in the back and three strings to tie around my neck, two white and one robin’s egg blue. The bottom piece started like a normal bikini bottom, but thicker. Above the hips it cut in to cover only the front of my torso, leaving my back and sides exposed, and went up to the bottom of my ribs. There were three strings encircling my back, keeping the material up. It was decorated with flowers in shades of blue, and as much as I liked it – although I’d never admit it to Alyssa – I didn’t think I would be comfortable wearing it in public.
“Are you ready yet?” I heard her ask through the door.
“Kind of. I have it on, but I don’t know if I want to come out.” I admitted.
“Come on, you can’t look that bad.” She encouraged.
“It’s not that.” I told her. “I’m just not comfortable showing this much skin. I live in jeans, you know. The only reason I’m wearing shorts is because I might actually die from this heat.”
“Just come out. No one’s going to see you. I promise there’s no one else around.” She encouraged.
I sighed before opening the door and peering my head around. I was met with an unimpressed look. “Alright, I’m coming.” I relented. I stepped out of the changing stall and was greeted with a wolf whistle from Alyssa. “Cut it out!” I blushed.
“Why? You look great!” she exclaimed. “As much as I like that bracelet, it really doesn’t match the-” she cut off.
“What?” I asked nervously?
“Umm… did you find your tattoo yet?”
I was a little shocked. It was an awfully personal question to be asking someone you’d only known for a couple of weeks. “No. Why?” I asked a little defensively. She nodded toward my left side where my hand was hanging by my hip. I impulsively lifted it to my face, scanning for the name.
“Not your hand,” she said.
I slowly looked down to my left side just above my hip where, just as she said, I could see the top of thick black letters peeking over the swimsuit.
~~~~~
“Alright, right’s wrong?” Dean asked, pausing the movie. We were halfway through our second movie of the night, Mission Impossible, and while I was enjoying it, I couldn’t seem to sit still. I was sat between the two boys, Dean’s arm resting on the back of the couch behind my head, our usual seating situation on movie nights. Sam was slouched over, starting to drift off. He could never seem to stay awake for more than one movie.
“What? Nothing’s wrong. Why do you think something’s wrong?” I asked him.
“Well, you haven’t sat still for more than five minutes at a time and I can see the wheels spinning in your head. You know you can talk to me about anything right?” He sounded genuinely concerned.
“I know.” I sighed.
“Nothing happened, right? You’ve seemed a little off since you got back.” He pushed, not for the information he knew I wasn’t ready to give, but for assurance that I was alright.
“I’m fine,” I told him honestly. “It’s just… I found my tattoo while we were trying on clothes. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it, figure out how I feel.” I confessed.
“Oh.” Was his only response. I could tell he wanted to press for more information, but he stayed quiet.
~~~~~
“I can’t look at it. I don’t want to know what it says. What do I do?” I asked. My breath was coming faster and I was starting to panic.
“Hey. Hey! Jenna! Look at me. Deep breath.” Alyssa calmly instructed, demonstrating and breathing with me until my breathing was back to normal. “You’re going to have to see it sometime. It’s unavoidable. Right now, it doesn’t change anything. It just gives you a name. You can do whatever you want with that name once you have it. It doesn’t decide anything for you.”
I knew she was right and steeled myself to look at it, Alyssa waiting patiently. Carefully, I pushed the swimsuit strap down just enough to reveal the name underneath.
DEAN
 Ages 14 and 16 January 24, 1995
Dean’s POV
I stared at the ceiling, willing myself to find the energy to get out of bed. I heard Sam moving around, getting ready for school, but I couldn’t bring myself to do the same. I knew that by the end of the day I would have letters inked into my skin. Letters that spelled out my soulmate’s name. I had no illusions about my family’s lifestyle and what it would mean for my soulmate. It would be a bittersweet moment, finally learning her name, but knowing I could never allow myself to be with her, to put her in that kind of danger.
With a sinking feeling in my stomach, I sat up and swung my legs over the side of the bed. I rubbed my eyes before standing up and starting to get ready for the day. I had decided I wasn’t going to look for the tattoo. I would put it off for as long as I could and see it whenever I happened to stumble upon the patch of skin it showed up on.
~~~~~
It had been a pretty good morning. My anxiety had faded to the background when a smiling Jenna came into our room with bacon, eggs and toast for breakfast. It wasn’t elaborate by any means, but it was more than we usually had and the fact that she took the time to make it for us, for me, made it that much more special.
The two of them had given me the gift they picked out right away this morning when an excited Sam decided he couldn’t wait until after school. He halfway disappeared under the bed for a few seconds, wiggling his way back out with a box clutched in his hands. He proudly handed it to me and then watched in eager anticipation as I opened two new movies, Jumanji and Batman Forever.
“Now we have something to watch for movie night too!” He exclaimed. I thanked them both and then we headed to school, Jenna’s dad dropping us off.
Now I was sitting in the locker room, changing back into my regular clothes after gym class. I had opted out of a shower, not wanting to find my tattoo in this miserable place, surrounded by strangers I would have to guard my reaction around. I had my foot up on the bench I was sitting on, switching out my sweaty socks for a dry pair, lost in my thoughts when I heard someone to my left snicker and say, “Isn’t Jenna your sister?”
My head whipped around to look at Matt, the guy who had spoken. He was a sophomore like me, and while he wasn’t wildly popular, he sure thought he was something special. “What?” I snapped, confused about why he was asking about her. My protective instincts flared up. We had only been at this school for a week, but I was well aware how attractive Jenna was, and if this kid thought he was going to try something he had another thing coming. “Why?” I asked, failing to keep the suspicion out of my voice.
“Didn’t the two of you show up around the same time? And I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the two of you coming to school in the same car,” he mused. “So you must be her brother. That’s gotta be pretty awkward. Unless you know another Jenna?”
“I don’t have to explain anything to you,” I snapped.
“Dude, don’t they have different last names?” Chimed in a freshman whose name I didn’t know. I wasn’t sure if I should be grateful for or irritated by his input. “So unless they have different dads or something… I don’t think they’re related.” Irritated, I decided. He hadn’t said anything offensive, and his analysis wasn’t wrong, but I found I didn’t like the way he was obviously looking for Matt’s approval.
“Really? How do you know that?” Matt asked. Without waiting for a reply, he continued.
“Well that’s a relief. It would be pretty weird if your sister was your soulmate.” He laughed. “Too bad though,” he continued, having gained the attention of most of the locker room. “She’s not half bad looking. I might ask her out anyway, see what she really thinks about her pathetic, loser soulmate.”
I clenched my jaw. Having lived in tight quarters for years, Jenna and Sam had learned to back off at this, that it meant I was seriously pissed off. Matt had the misfortune of not knowing me so well. “Leave her alone.” I warned. I had managed to keep my temper so far, but if he actually made a move on her, all bets were off.
“Don’t worry,” Matt drawled on. “I’ll test her out for you. Let you know if she’s actually worth your ti-”
Before he even realized I was moving I had crossed the couple of steps to him, grabbed a fistful of his shirt, and shoved him back into the lockers. “I don’t know what you’re even talking about,” I seethed, “but you better stay away from her or I’ll make sure that my pathetic loser face is the last thing you see before I put you in the hospital.”
I turned away from him and, after taking a step, ducked, effectively dodging the punch I had seen him getting ready to throw. I spun back around and landed a solid punch to his face before grabbing my shoes and walking out the door. It wasn’t until I was sitting in the bleachers lacing up my boots that I saw it. Inked into the skin of my left ankle was her name.

it ends with you and me (Harry Potter x Reader)
Plot: Harry knew that no matter what happened it all ended with you by his side.
Word Count: 917
A/N: this is rought, ok? I haven’t wrote anything long like this in a while so bear with me bbys, pls. Also this is my first with Harry, I’m just in love with him idk love me some chosen one. Also this was inspired by You And Me by Niall Horan
Tumblr media
I've got a young heart
And it's wild and free
I don't know where it starts
But it ends with you and me
It's a hard road
As far as I can see
I don't know where I'm going
But I'll get back to you and me
Harry’s life was always uncertain, from the moment he was born his future was not clear; everything around him seemed to last a short period of time, he lost people that he cared all the time, and nothing seemed to be steady, nothing but you.
He remember clearly the day he met you, bright innocent eyes were looking at him on the first ride to Hogwarts, you tried your best to not freak out at the fact that the Harry Potter was sitting in front of you and he noticed that; that was the first time he felt his heart do that tiny jump and the butterflies starting to wake up inside him and from then he knew that he wanted you to be a constant in his life.
 'Cause we're two kids
Trying to start a fight
No matter where we go
Yeah, we'll be alright
All I'm asking for
A bit of patience, please
'Cause I know what's to come
And it's coming for you and me
Harry knew what fear felt like, he was constantly feeling it, the fear of losing everyone he loved and the small amount of people he met during his life who quickly became his family. He dragged you along his adventures through the years, each one becoming more and more dangerous than the last, he was scared of losing you, he knew that at some point he had to fight the one who has been hunting him since he was a baby, and you also knew that but sticking with him was what you wanted to so you reassured him that nomatter what happened you’ll be together.
 “I know what’s to come, Harry but we’ll be alright” Harry looked at you and you could feel the love radiating off him but also the fear, so you hugged him closed; he snaked his arms around your waits and pressed you closer “It’s you and me, love, ‘till the end”
Time has never been on our side
So would you wait for me?
I lead a selfish life
'Cause that's what I need
What do I have to do
To make you believe?
It's all for you and me
 Harry could feel him invading his mind, he knew that time was getting shorter until the inevitable happened, he could feel the pressure on his whole body; he wondered if you would be able to endure all of this, he knew that you told him numerous times that you’ll be by his side and there was nothing else he wanted than to end everything and spend the rest of his life with you, living far from everyone and for the first time close his eyes and feel nothing but peace. He lost track of the times that you laid with him on the cold floor of the astronomy tower just looking at the stars and rambled about your future with him, he preserved those memories deep in his heart.
 “We could live in a cottage by the sea, do you imagine waking up to the sound of the waves?” he heard you whisper on his side, he closed his eyes and could perfectly picture you both on a beautiful house by the sea, you looking perfect as the sun shined through the window.
“Yeah, that sounds amazing” He watched as your smile grew still with your eyes closed and he knew that everything that he would do was for you and him.
 From a distance
I can hear you cry
But don't you worry, darlin'
Don't lose sleep tonight
I can promise it
I can guarantee
That at the end of the road
I see you with me
He knew what he had to do, he was the last missing piece in the puzzle that Voldemort created, he was the most important piece there is, with him gone there was a possibility of destroying him and finish the war that was destroying Harry’s life; so he told you everything, he was going to the forest. The sound of you crying and screaming would be something that Harry will never forget, your tears streaming down your face as you hugged him desperately begging him to stay, he closed his eyes as he hugged you as he felt his eyes watering and his heart breaking.
“Don’t worry love, we’ll meet again sometime” He whispered on your ear softly “It’s you and me until the end, remember?”
When I look down the line
At the man I wanna be
I've always known from the start
That it ends with you and me
It was over, Voldemort was defeated. Silence surrounded him as he stood weakly in the same spot where he fought just seconds ago, he closed his eyes still taking everything in until his favorite sound came through.
 “Harry! Harry, you did it” he turned around to see you running to him, crashing on him with the most heartfelt hug he ever received in his life, you both coming down to the floor with tears in your eyes; he slowly grabbed your face and ran his hand on your jaw, you leaning on his touch closing your eyes.
 “Told you, it ends with you and me, love”

I’m Baby - N. Horan Imagine
NOTE: here is some niall angst where the title doesn’t really make sense unless i decide to make a part 2 so let me know if you want one and if enough of you do I can continue this...
Tumblr media
Niall Horan was not an open book, by any means. Honest? Absolutely. Those closest around them fine the label “genuine” to be an understatement.  But the musician was not outward with every detail in his life like others he knew could be. There were obvious reasons why he was not, too. And the logic could not be clearer: nobody in the world needed to know what happened last Tuesday at the gym and how he hurt his knee or the fact that his teeth were in “impeccable condition” according to his usual orthodontist. More importantly, Niall did not think most people would care.
The only people around the man who are informed of these sundry happenings are those he knows would be interested, no matter the scenario. His mother, his best friend Lewis, and of course, you. For roughly nine months, you acted as Niall’s unlicensed (and hella supportive) therapist, but mainly played the part of his girlfriend. Each draining day Niall spent in the booth was a day he was guaranteed to find the sight of you running a hot bath for him at his house, lit candles and bath salts present alongside your naked form for him to unwind however he pleased. And whether the bath turned into a bubbly blanket for your cuddling figures or sensual lubrication for more intimate activities, it left each of you blissful for the rest of the night.
Whenever there was a prying interviewer who went a question too far for the man’s liking, or the hateful words sent Niall down the furious path of the forked road, rather than the somber one, your presence and appreciative listening kept his mood buoyant. You were an amazing partner to Niall, and possibly one of the best supporters he could have stumbled upon in his lifetime. Of course, the support flowed the other way too, despite what most of those in your life might consider being true. With Niall whisked away from you more often than not, it is difficult for him to find time to show you a similar passion which he holds for his occupation. But you knew he was trying, and you had told him on numerous occasions that was all the proof you needed.
The lack of PDA was something you needed to grow accustomed to, though. Admittedly, you were caught off guard when Niall invited you to attend a party with him but spent most of the night a good distance from your form. The various introductions you had envisioned your boyfriend leading in your head dissipated upon your arrival when you realized you would need to do most of the talking yourself. Intimidating was one word to describe the experience. If not for the sight of Niall’s quaffed, brunette hair peeking up like a shark’s fin throughout the crowd during conversations, you may have just fainted.
Finally, when you latched onto Niall’s arm after escaping another curious glance from someone of high status, you breathed a sigh of relief. “Baby, I’ve been trying to get to you all night. You keep running away from me.” A nervous chuckle slides past his lips.
“Sorry petal, guess I just…”
“Niall, hey! Thanks for coming man,” A tall figure approaches the two of you. The man’s brunette eyes take a cursory look over your form in wonder, but don’t remain. Upon traveling back to Niall’s eyes, you feel his arm tugging away from your grasp and meeting his friend for a hug.
“Thanks for the invite. Happy birthday, bud!” He cheers, patting the unruly haired stranger on his back, clad in an extravagantly patterned button-up. When they both pull away, the brown eyes are on you once more, and you are inhibited by a similar shrinking feeling.
“I don’t think we’ve met before…I’m Shawn.” The boy grins, teeth sparkling beneath the dim light as he stretches a hand towards you. You offer your own, hoping its shaking was not visible as they clasp together. No words are exchanged for the seconds following except a small ‘oomph’ as the man tugs you further until your head is colliding with his upper torso.
“Sorry, figured Niall would have given you a warning. I’m a hugger.” The man’s chest bounces through his laughter, causing you both to separate. “What’s your name?”
“Y/N.” The quiet answer barely has Niall’s ears perking up. And with the remaining distance between you and Shawn, his furrowed brows make it clear he could not catch it either.
“Sorry, what was that?” Shawn asks once more.
“Her names Y/N.” Niall’s voice breaks in, catching both you and Shawn off guard.
“Oh…” Shawn speaks after a few moments. “Well, welcome to the party, Y/N! There are drinks in the kitchen if you’d like some, but I’d hurry before he drinks them all. I’ll see you guys later,” Shawn waves before his long legs swagger off to another group of party-goers.
“Are you okay?” You turn to Niall, observing his now firm stance.
“Fine…” He mutters, before turning his head in the direction of the kitchen light. “You want a drink?”
“Sure,” you reach your hand to grab him but are only met with a brisk air gliding through your fingers and a glimpse of Niall’s form retreating into the kitchen in moments. He was acting suspicious, and you were pondering when a good opportunity would be to confront him about it if there ever was a good opportunity…
There wasn’t. Not that night at least, which just so happened to take place before the morning of Niall’s flight to London for a week to continue promo for a new single he was planning to release in a month. Your stewing concluded days before his return back to Los Angeles, and you decided the night was not something to quarrel over. Maybe the anxiety of the crowd was eating at him, or he just wanted to keep your affection to a minimum. What you did not understand, though, was why you needed to be a secret around his friends, too?
The two of you finally found time in your schedules for a day out together. Fortunately, this venture was only slightly work-related. When you brought up the need for a dress for a formal work event approaching hastily, Niall took the chance to inform of his own need for a pair of new boots, as a pair he owned now was becoming worn through their past years of wear and tear.
You made a note not to don your person in anything worthy of head turns. A simple t-shirt and jeans fit the attire just right as you and Niall strolled side by side, heads down, and sunglasses perched on your noses. Your fingers craved the feeling of his locked through them and twitched every time your knuckles bumped against each other’s but never acted further. When entering the store that sold clothes for all genders, you and Niall separated into your designated sections to scour options. Though Niall may not have known, just his body beside yours left you fulfilled and content, much more than the empty space.
The air around you suddenly grew warmer when your eyes finally landed on a plausible option. Thinking it was your boyfriend, you excitedly spun around to reveal your find, only to be met with an unfamiliar face.
“Baby, look what I—”  You pause at the sight of a store associate and not Niall. “Oh, sorry. I thought you were somebody else,” you murmur with flushed cheeks. Now realizing the scant space between your two bodies, you took it upon yourself to shuffle backward a few inches.
“That’s alright. I was wondering if I could help you find anything.” While the man spoke, your eyes peeked over his shoulders in attempts to spot your boyfriend. It was no avail and left you sighing.
“Yeah, actually…” you inquire if the dress you were holding came in your usual size, leaving the man to scurry back and check in the back stock eagerly. In the meantime, you hunt down Niall in the shoe section and find yourself frowning at his figure hunched on one of the benches sat in the middle of the aisle, not even one box of boots lying beside him.
“Hey baby, did you find anything?” Your voice has his blue eyes snapping up from his phone and to your twiddling thumbs. Taking a seat beside him calmed you down from the scare of the store employee, even if the closest to affection either of you attained from it was your thighs pressed against each other.
“Hmm,” Niall hummed, pocketing his mobile device. “Not really, did you?” He raises a brow in interest.
“I don’t know yet, I found one I liked a lot but—”
“Miss?” Immediately, both of your heads turned to find the store employee, with two dresses dangling from his fingers by their attached hangers.
“Good news, I found that dress in your size. But I saw this in the back also…” He moves the wine-red dress into your view for your eyes to drink in. “Not that my opinion matters, but I think it’d do your body nicely.” The man’s eyes darken with each word as his eyes trail up and down your body without hesitance.
You chuckle warily, cheeks growing hot beneath his stare as your tongue trembles behind your lips for an answer. “Uh…I um…”
“I think we’re good for today actually,” Niall’s voice fills your ears again. You turn your head to take sight of Niall’s soft jaw and challenging stare and take a sharp inhale at the feeling of his muscular arm winding around your middle. “Thanks for the offer, though.” The last sentence was short of a snap towards the man, who was now intimidated by Niall’s appearance. You were sure he would have apologized for his inappropriate comments too, but you found your boyfriend leading the two of you all too quickly into a different store.
But you pause when his hand leaves your waist before you two were entering a new store. “This place looks nice—” ‘
“Why’d you do that?” The question, spoken softly, somehow cut through Niall’s comment like steel.
“Do what?”
“That.” You clarify with a jut of your head towards the previous retailer. “Why’d you just step in like that? I could have said something myself.” You huff, crossing your arms over your chest. Niall takes notice of your defensive stance immediately and begins spewing any nonsense words he can think of to deflate the interrogation.
“Come on, petal, he was being a creep.” Niall reasoned in a low tone, but your agitation only continued to grow along with your volume.
“Okay, and? Because he was a creep you just needed to put your arm around me and make it clear I was taken? I wasn’t going jump his bones even if I was single.” You argued. ‘
“I didn’t say you would. I was trying to send a message.” Niall explains, eyes catching curious glances from pedestrians strolling by.
“I could have sent one just as easily by telling him no.”
“Then why didn’t you?”
“Because you didn’t even give me the chance, Niall!” Your voice burst into an entirely new level of loud neither of you knew possible. To make it worse, his name was the loudest part of the sentence, but you did not seem to care who may have heard you at that moment. Because whenever you were with Niall, and especially right now, he was not the international musician. He was your boyfriend. And you were having this argument whether one or one hundred people cared to gather around and witness it. “Just like you didn’t let me give my name to Shawn at his party.”
“You hesitated!” Niall hissed. “And what does Shawn’s party have to do with what just happened?”
“I was in shock, okay? I didn’t expect a random dude to pull moves on me! I especially didn’t expect you to swoop in and save me like it’s your job.” You scoff, not even bothering to answer his follow-up question. Niall’s brows clinch together.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” He was now mimicking your stance, arms linked together over his torso.
“It means that…for somebody who wants to keep his girlfriend a secret, you’re doing a shit job of it.” You spit. A few moments of silence passed between the two of you, the stares of close to fifteen people had been paying notice to your scuffle. An occasional flash could be caught by your peripheral, but you gave nobody the satisfaction of turning your head for a closer look at you.
“Says the girl who just outed us in public,” Niall mutters, words nearly inaudible to you. He wished seconds later that they were, but the shake of disdain you gave him before pivoting to speed away was all he needed to know he fucked up. Majorly.

[ diego boneta, cis man, thirty ] Let’s give a warm welcome to one of Sparkwood’s finest, LUKE ALVEZ !! Before coming here, he once lived on the pages of CRIMINAL MINDS. Though now they currently spend most of their time as an FBI AGENT. If you ask the townsfolk about what they are like, you will hear that they are ASTUTE but also DETACHED. If they had a theme song it would be NICE TO MEET YA - NIALL HORAN.
note: you can find my full muse page HERE !
bio triggers: brief mention of torture.
luke alvez was born into a rather strict family and was raised in the bronx. while his parents had always wanted a family, they weren’t necessarily the most inept when it came to showing their love for their son. while he craved love and praise, both of his parents showed their love through their strictness and willingness to provide luke with the best life possible. his mother worked for the government and his father was a retired army captain, their work perhaps an explanation as to why the two were so closed off, to begin with. his teenage years were fairly mundane despite the one or two years of teenage angst and rebellion, but those years never got in the way of his studies. when he graduated from high school, he wasn’t entirely sure what he wanted to do with his life and was inspired by his father’s heroic stories to enlist in the army. it provided him with a wealth of experience, both good and bad.
but when he was finally discharged from the army, he knew exactly what he wanted to do with his time. he ended up going to quantico for training and ended up working for the fbi. first, he worked within the fugitive task force but an incident that occurred with his partner ended up traumatizing him. his partner being tortured while hunting down their target was something that alvez ended up blaming himself for, unable to truly come to terms with the whole situation. he was in turn reassigned and stepped in to work with the behavioral analysis unit as a criminal profiler. although all of his years of service for his country has left luke feeling worn, wanting to explore something he worked on within the army: animal training.
so he decided to bounce back and forth between his normal life and work, settling down outside of washington d.c. in the small town of sparkwood. he has been working part-time at the sparkwood shelter with dogs when he can while also being on call whenever he is needed as a profiler. while his life in sparkwood allows him to keep up the illusion that he has a normal life, he knows deep down that he needs to take time to work on himself and his past traumas. It’s a bonus knowing that he’s living close to someone that he works with.
HEADCANONS.
luke still keeps in touch with his parents and visits them in new york every holiday, but he longs to have his own family one day and do things a little differently than his parents did.
he has a dog named roxy that he got as a therapy dog after being discharged and she’s helped him immensely in his journey in adjusting to civilian life.
he is essentially a big kid: he spends his free time spending video games, owns a bachelor pad, and is a lousy cook.
he is fluent in spanish, american sign language, and dabbles a bit in latin.
he identifies as heterosexual but would be open to anything that comes his way (biromantic).
despite no longer being in the service, he likes to stay fit and can often be found at the mount olympus gym either working out or partaking in a little boxing.
still suffers from nightmares based on what happened to his ex-partner, phil.

The One
part three - the one with mouse ears and turkey dinner
The transition from October to November wasn’t a difficult one.
Everyone was putting away their Halloween decorations and putting up the Thanksgiving ones. Everyone was out in stores buying their pumpkin flavor cookies and coffee creamers. Everyone was even going out of their way to get the pumpkin spice latte everyday from Starbucks.
Evie wasn’t into that whole trend, the everything has to be pumpkin spice. In fact, Evie didn’t even like the flavor of it, finding it too sweet for her liking. However, she ate pumpkin seeds like no other. Normally, she’d be making homemade, but this time it was store-bought.
The fall time was Evie’s favorite. She learned to love it when she was back in Seattle and when she moved to Chicago for school. She learned to love the colors and the cold felt like home. Not to mention all the outfits that fit that season, it was amazing.
Of course, in Los Angeles, there wasn’t much of a fall season. Sure, the weather was cooler, but it wasn’t as cool as it would be in Seattle or Chicago. To Evie, that was the biggest culture shock when she came to the hustling city. In fact, when she experienced her first fall and winter season in Los Angeles, she almost moved back to Chicago.
But, at the same time, the transition was difficult.
This whole month had been quiet without the presence of Niall. Her phone had gone off a few times a week, text messages talking about his plans for the following day and how much he had missed her. Evie wasn’t going to lie, she missed him too. Granted, she had only spent one night with him and that was over drinks. What she really missed was the smile and his laugh.
She hadn’t told him about her fight with Helena, because in her mind, she felt that he would back himself away from her. And that was the thing that Evie didn’t want to happen.
Niall called her a few nights too, and she would vent about work. Again, Evie didn’t mention the fight, because it was useless. But, Niall had seen the photos too, promising that when he got back to the States, they’d talk more about it.
Evie never asked how long until he came back. She was letting him do his thing like he had done so before. She didn’t want to intrude into his career, wanting him to come back when he had so much going on. If everyone had known better, they’d see that she was trying to be patient, despite her getting antsy as every day passed.
“Evie?”
Evie had looked up from her desk, eyeing someone at her door. Evie leaned back in her seat, crossing her arms and gave a nod, signaling for them to come in.
“It’s late, why are you still here?”
“Because it’s a Friday night and I have to finish off this plan before the meeting tomorrow?” Evie mused, looking over at the clock as it read ten PM.
“Or is it because you’re trying to keep yourself busy from thinking about lover boy?”
“You guys have fun messing with me about this, don’t ya?” Both girls had giggled by then.
“We’ve never seen you with a guy, that’s why we do. When does he get back?”
“Dunno.”
“Guess we’ll know when he does by your expression that day.” The girl winked, causing Evie to scoff.
“Don’t you got to go home or something?” Evie teased.
“Yes…. But don’t stay late, yeah?” The girl spoke, standing up from her seat as she made her way to the door, leaving Evie behind.
“Have a good weekend too, hopefully your boyfriend comes home.”
“He’s not -.” But it was no use, the girl was gone already.
Evie huffed, moving her attention back over towards her desk, the swatches of paint colors and patterns sitting in front of her. On her left, she had three idea booklets prepared for her meeting tomorrow, and she was working on her fourth. On her right, she had two cups of coffee and take out from an hour ago.
While playing with color swatches again, her phone buzzed. Evie reached out, bringing the phone in front of her and smiled at the name. She slid her finger on the screen and brought the phone to her ear.
“Hello sweet girl.” Evie sighed in relief, setting the paint swatches down and leaned back in her chair.
“Hey… Isn’t it late over there?”
“No Evie Burke, it’s six AM here.” Niall mused.
“Oh…. so what are your plans for the day then?”
“Hanging with my cousin since its one of me last few days here.” She could only imagine him shrugging his shoulders right now.
“Guess you’ll have to tell me all about your trip when you get back.”
“So go on, tell me about your day, Evie Burke. I’m dying to hear it since I haven’t talked to ya in a little bit.” Evie snorted then.
“Let’s see, it’s Friday night and I’m still at work figuring out paint swatches that would match together. I’m on my third cup of coffee because I can’t figure out what goes well together. I don’t want to go home without this not planned…. Do you think gold and light grey go together?”
“Is this for a wedding? And if so what season?” Niall asked.
“Yes and it’s to be determined. They want color schemes to help them choose. So for the springtime I have peach, gold and green. For the summertime I have navy, coral and gold. For fall, I have cranberry, orange and ivory - which is my favorite by the way. And i’m working on winter right now. Hence why I asked about grey and gold.” Evie sighed, running her free hand through her hair.
“Why not use copper or whats the word? Platinum? You have too much gold and oranges by the sound of it. Copper and uh…. Navy? Do they make such things? I’m not sure, Evie Burke. I’m guessing here.”
“I like the copper part…. I’ll go hunting for colors that match with copper. Thank you. I’m sorry you get to talk to me while i’m stressed like this.” Evie sighed, not liking how short this conversation was sounding.
“It’s kind of cute, to be honest. I’m imagining a frustrated scowl on your face and some hair strands out of place. But look, i’ll be home on Thursday and we’ll meet up then, okay?”
“That’s fine, I need to keep busy anyways. Thank you for letting me vent.”
“You’re welcome, sweet girl. Have a good night and I’ll see you soon.”
Once he had hung up, Evie sat her phone to the side again and went back looking through the paint. Copper, that was the main color that Evie was going to go with, but as for the other two, that was a different story.
She went through the reds, and yellows, and greens until she stopped at the blues. Niall had said something about navy, but what about a lighter color instead? Inbetween baby blue and sky blue, aqua was sitting right in front of her.
With determination on her face, Evie searched for another color to balance the copper and aqua. She went through the colors again, only this time she looked through the colors that no one else would think of. Meaning, that Evie went towards the browns and tans instead of the ideal colors. Throughout looking at the colors, the ultimate decision came down to mahogany. While it was unusual, Evie liked it the more she looked at it.
At the glance of the clock, Evie finished up the last booklet and packed her belongings. Her meeting was set up at a cafe, that way they could discuss and meet somewhere private. Evie cleaned up her desk and turned off the lights and locked her door.
\
“Hey… Evie?”
Evie had looked up from the stack of papers on her desk. It had been a good week so far, she didn’t have to stay late at all these past few nights. And her clients loved the winter booklet that she created - of course with the help of Niall. Not that they didn’t like the others, but her clients loved the look of the colors together and how unique they were.
She sucked in a deep breath as Helena entered the room and closed the door behind her.
They hadn’t talked in a while after the tiff they had; the silence that Evie had felt in her life from not talking to Helena had been killing her. She knew that there had been no harm, but the attack wasn’t pleasing when it happened.
“Can we talk? I mean… Can we clear the air? Or whatever that should be said?”
Evie exhaled and folded her arms together. She had mentally agreed, they needed to talk and figure out the animosity that was here in her office.
“Look, I’m sorry I attacked you verbally. I was frustrated that you didn’t tell me ANYTHING. I was hoping that it would be you telling me rather than the news and Twitter.” Helena ran a hand through her hair.
“You know, I was going to tell you the following day.” Evie scoffed, standing up from her chair and moved around the desk until she leaned on it.
“I know -”
“But, you came to the attack and I didn’t like that at all. You listened to every news outlet for the truth, and yet you decided to trust them instead of waiting for me to tell you.”
“And I get that, but -”
“No, you don’t get that. Knowing that you believed some news outlet that isn’t always reliable isn’t the greatest feeling in the world. I cried, Helena. It sucked, because instead of letting me share the news, I had the world tell it. It felt so normal and so nice that I wasn’t even out with a popular musician, I was out with a down-to-earth guy.”
She wasn’t going to lie, it was honestly one of the best dates that she’d gone on. She couldn’t compare this to her dates from college or high school. But nothing was going to be able to beat what she had felt that night. She got to meet Niall Horan, the boy who enjoyed talking about music instead of the boybander that everyone knew.
There was the elephant in the room, both girls could sense and feel it. The silence was even louder, both of them unsure where to begin to speak.
“So… is he a good kisser?”
Evie’s stone-cold look on her face turned into a little smile and a shrug from her shoulders.
“He is! Oh my god, Evie!” Helena cried of joy.
“I don’t know, Helena! I only kissed his cheek!” Evie’s hands flew to her face, hiding the rosy color on her cheeks.
“How do you not kiss on the first date!? Did he text you after a day? Come on, Evie, time for the actual details!”
Evie moved from her spot, going back around towards her chair behind her desk. She moved the papers out of her way and brought the coffee cup up to her lips, only to set it down a second later.
“Because I don’t play that way. And no, not right away.” Evie laughed a bit.
“Not right away?”
“He was on a plane. He hasn’t been back here in a month or so. Off touring that song of his, but I’ve kept in contact with him.”
“When’s he coming back?” Helena raised an eyebrow.
“Tomorrow. I’m really excited actually. I’m thinking we might get together on Friday, because he’d need the day to recuperate from the jetlag.”
“And… you know the holiday is coming up. Why not invite him?”
Evie hadn’t thought about that. While it would mean nice time with him, it also meant weirdness with her family and the fact of him not celebrating the holiday.
But, she was nominated last year to have the family over this year. Everyone, except Britt, would be at her place and that was already something that was stressing over.
“He doesn’t celebrate an American holiday, Helena. Plus that whole idea of meeting the parents? No way.”
“But, he’s your friend and thats how you should put it.”
“But, my family has also seen the news like you and already put together that we’re together.”
“And are you two together?”
“I don’t know? You normally don’t get into a relationship after the first date. I mean, we’ve talked a lot about each other, but I don’t know? A better word ]is seeing each other.”
“Just, don’t do that stupid instagram official thing.”  Evie laughed.
“Okay, enough boy talk, you got work to do, go on now!” Evie laughed more, pointing over at the door.
Helena got up from her seat, going around the desk and pulled Evie up for a hug. At first, it surprised Evie, but after a moment of realizing what this was for, Evie hugged her back. It was better for them to hug out what had happened and to move on with their lives.
“Just ask about Thanksgiving and make sure you two talk! Okay, bye.”
\
Despite him coming home on Thursday, Evie convinced him to meet up on Friday. That way he could sleep off the jetlag. While he had protested, he gave in.
Evie had taken the Friday off, claiming it was for her to focus upon her house and get herself mentally prepared for the holiday. Honestly, everyone knew that it was actually for Niall, but they let Evie believe the story that she made up.
When Evie was fighting him and his jetlag, she suggested places to go like the zoo or Universal Studios or whatever he wanted to head off too. Before their conversation had ended, Niall had agreed to Disney instead. That way they weren’t going to be bombarded by people wanting photos or gossip.
That’s where Evie was this morning, standing at the entrance at Disney. Being that it was November, it was cooler outside and there weren’t that many lines to get into the park or even the rides.
Evie had to look dumb standing there, her legs crossed as she looked around looking for him. Maybe he was already there, but not noticed. Or he was walking up and she didn’t see. Hell, he could already be inside and didn’t tell her anything.
While that kept her distracted, she didn’t realize that someone was sneaking up on her. That had all changed though when Evie felt a pair of arms wrapping around her. Evie yelped, jumping away from the arms and turned to find Niall chuckling, not noticing the look of panic on her face until it finally clicked.
“That wasn’t funny! Don’t do that!” She smacked his shoulder.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” Niall apologized, reaching out for her hand.
She had a slight pout on her face, still reeling into the surprise attack. Niall, while still holding onto her hand, pulled her closer to him and wrapped his arms around her for a hug.
It was the sense of comfort that reminded Evie that she had missed him. From the way he tugged her with his hand on hers, and the scent of his cologne that reminded her of the two nights they were together. It made the whole idea of him being back in Los Angeles feel much more real.
“Missed ya like crazy, Evie Burke.” Niall admitted, letting her out of the hug but still held onto her hand.
“Doubt it, you had tons of fans and your family. I bet you hardly thought of me.”
“That doesn’t mean I didn’t miss ya. With a huge timezone change, it was horrible. Plus, I rarely got to talk to you so.”
Together they walked into the park, blending in with the crowd. Niall made sure he had sunglasses on, covering his face from people as Evie showed her face. No one was going to recognize a girl they’ve only seen once with him.
And that was okay with her, because she didn’t want people to notice them.
“The real question, is if you missed me, Evie Burke.”
“Meh.”
“Ouch, sweet girl. That actually hurt.”
“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t.” Evie spoke, looking over at him with a grin. Without her even seeing, Niall smirked.
They weren’t smart when it came to getting fast passes, so they had to wait in lines. They were, however, lucky because the lines weren’t long and they were able to move quickly.
One by one, they did each ride that came into their view on the one side of the park. The crowds were moving smoothly, Evie not having to apologize every time she elbowed someone. Niall would chuckle, hearing Evie apologize when she would.
Evie stopped at one point, earning a look from Niall in confusion. Her eyes wandered the place, looking around until she spotted a restaurant. Niall, still with confusion on his face, looked towards where she was looking at, and then understood what she meant. She was hungry. And not to his surprise, so was he.
The pair went to Harbour Gallery, grabbing some food while sitting near the back. It was by Niall’s request to sit back there, so that no one could see and look at them with wide eyes.
“Are you having fun, Evie Burke?”
“A lot of fun, actually.”
“Good. Told ya our next adventure would be fun.” Niall winked, causing Evie to let out a laugh.
“And what about the next one?” Evie asked.
“Would you like to go on another one? Even if it might be chilling at the house?”
“As long as I’m with you, anything is fun.”
“Guess i’ll have to figure something out then. Which reminds me, how did that meeting go?”
Evie wiped her face with the napkin, setting it aside before shrugging her shoulders like it was nothing.
“They liked every booklet I made. It was difficult for them to choose because I did an incredible job. Ultimately, they loved the winter booklet. Thank you again.” Evie smiled.
“You’re welcome… Was I right though? You had that frustrated look on your face? I would’ve killed to see it.”
“I did, just about cried had you not called.”
“I’m glad it all went well though, serves them right for choosing you and liking one of your options. They won’t be disappointed after what I’ve seen you pull off.”
Evie’s cheeks turned a few shades of pink, having to hide her face with her hands.
She wasn’t used to much compliments, the compliments of loving her stuff and that she was the best at what she did. Sure, she got them from her friends who helped her build the idea. But from Niall? That made her feel embarrassed - in a good way of course.
“Anyways, theres a few more things we need to do, sweet girl.”
She peeked through her fingers, blinking as she wondered what were the few other things they had to do. She knew of the teacups, because thats what she was excited for the most. Niall reached out for her hands, lowering them from her face and sat them down on the table, holding onto them and smiled at her.
“We need to find you some Mickey Ears and go on more rides.”
“I’ll get Mickey Ears if you get Mickey Ears.”
“Deal, now lets go Evie Burke.”
They left their spots, heading off to find more rides and whatever else they could get into. Along the way, Niall would stop and let Evie get in line to get her photo taken with whoever was walking around. She was such a child when it came to this, letting the inner child-like feelings come through. This was something she hardly got to express, but being in Disney of all places made her feel at peace.
She returned back to him, kissing his cheek as they went on. Evie had looked high and low for a shop that sold the Mickey Ears. When she did, she nudged her shoulder and pointed in the direction of the shop (“Evie Burke, hasn’t your mum ever told you not to point”).
Entering the shop, Niall found simple black pair, nothing with a bow on it or nothing too ridiculous looking. Evie, took her time looking at each one, playing eeny meeny miny moe to choose the right one.
In all honesty, Niall found this to be cute. He imagined this is what she looked like when she worked, playing the choosing game, the one to figure out what she liked more. The determination on her face was telling him that this wasn’t the first time she had that look.
“Okay, do you like this one? Or do you like this one?” Evie held up two different ones; one was an Alice in Wonderland themed as the other was the official Mickey Ears, but with sequins on the ears and the bow.
“If you’re trying to hint for the teacups, then the Alice… but, if we’re considering that I’ve got plain ears here, get the shiny one.”
Niall paid for them both, and helped Evie get her ears on straight. He laughed at the face she made, giving a short nod before continuing off on their day.
“You’ve got some fans eyeballing you.” Evie whispered.
“How can you tell?”
“Theres some girls over there with their phones out, and one looks like they’re about to cry. Look.” Evie made a motion for Niall to look in the direction she was looking at.
Niall looked in the direction, making it seem like he was actually looking around the place with his eyes. He could see what Evie was on about, letting out a sigh before he looked at her.
“We’ve been busted.”
“No, more like you got busted. You can go talk to them if you’d like. The line for the teacups is a bit long, so you know where to find me.” Evie squeezed his hand before she let go, heading off towards the teacups.
Evie pulled out her phone from her pocket, checking the time. She wasn’t the one for social media -aside from Instagram, so she didn’t have much of the updates to see. However, she did check her email for clients or if work needed her.
As fast as she checked her phone, she placed it back into her pocket. She looked around, spotting Niall walking back towards her, a small grin appearing out of his that had to be because he found her.
“So, how was that meeting thing?”
“Asked if you were the girl I was with weeks ago and if this was a date.”
“What did you say?” Evie asked, biting down her lip.
“Said yes to both. I asked them though to not post anything until tomorrow.”
Evie turned that nervous look on her face to a smile. She felt better knowing that he was considering this as a date and he asked to not post anything, for the fear he’d get bombarded some more.
They spent the rest of the day doing different rides, from Evie screaming to Niall laughing at her. They stayed until it was after dark, watching the light show and everything glow throughout the park and in front of them. What Evie didn’t know, was that Niall had asked someone to get their photo taken from the behind, that way they couldn’t see their faces. Just as sneaky as Niall asked that, he got his phone back like nothing had happened.
“So, I know you don’t celebrate the holiday, but on the 24th would you like to come over for dinner?”
“Isn’t that a family thing? A family dinner thing?”
“Well yeah, but I thought… you know, if you wanted some dinner and company for a night, you can come over.”
“No, Evie Burke. The offer is nice and all, but I don’t celebrate an American holiday that isn’t even a good holiday and its a family thing more or less.”
“Alright, thought I’d ask.” Evie went quiet shortly after that.
“Now, do you need a ride home?”
“No… I drove Henry.”
“Henry?” Niall asked, looking at her weirdly.
“Yeah, my car.”
Evie walked Niall towards her car. He was proclaiming it was to make her safe knowing she got there, but, Evie wanted to prove she had a car in the first place. She leaned against her car, smiling at him for the longest of time.
“Goodnight, Evie Burke. Drive home safely, yeah?”
“Yes, Dad.” She giggled, causing Niall to shake his head.
“I’ll talk to you soon, alright?”
Niall stayed in his spot as Evie got into her car and he watched her drive away. Content that she was on her way home, Niall went to his own vehicle and drove back his place. His mind pondered on the thought of what she had asked before, if he wanted to come over for Thanksgiving. He scoffed then, shaking the thought out of his mind and traveled home, dead silence in the car.
\
Evie’s house was in complete ruckus.
All three of her guest bedrooms were in use, her two bathrooms were filled with other peoples toothbrushes and other things Evie didn’t want to know. Her refrigerator was completely stocked up with different foods and drinks, and her drive way was completely packed. But most importantly, her mind has gone off its chain.
Her mom and dad were in one room, Dan and Tori were in one room, her grandparents were in the last guest bedroom and Mitch was on the couch. Ginny was in Evie’s room, luckily. And since everyone had came over, Ginny had stayed hidden, despite Evie calling her name.
At night, Evie, her brothers and Tori would go outside in her backyard and play volleyball while her parents and grandparents sat by the firepit. This was their fun for the holiday, and each of them complained about Britt not being there. And late at night, it was always Evie and Mitch talking about everything, because everyone else had that “im going to bed at 8 PM feel”.
No one had brought up Evie being in the news. She had taken that as a sign that no one noticed or even cared. The anxiety over having to explain that was out the window.
With her family, Evie was able to let go and act silly. Like she was with Niall at Disney, she was able to be childlike and bring out that sassy Evie like when she was younger. There was even one point that Mitch and her went to the store just to buy onesies and wear them. If she was being honest, Mitch was her favorite brother, because he was only a year older than her.
“Evie, enlighten me on something.”
“Yeah, Mitch?” She looked up from her phone, raising an eyebrow at him.
“I wasn’t going to bring this up around family, since we’re here for another four days, but what’s with that guy you’ve been seen with?”
“Just someone I’ve been seeing. No big deal.” It was, very much a big deal.
“He’s famous, from that boyband and he’s gone solo. It’s a big deal, Evie.” Mitch shrugged his shoulders.
“And your point is?”
“Just to know what’s going on.”
“Nothing, we’re just… seeing each other.” Evie made sure her voice was serious.
“Is he your boyfriend? C’mon, Evie, we havent talked like this in forever.” Mitch was pleading.
“No, and you’re sounding like my coworker, Helena. Why are we discussing me, anyways? What about you?”
“Oh no, don’t change the subject. I’m not in a relationship with a famous person.”  Evie glared at him, to which he started laughing.
“So, when do we get to see him?”
“Never.” Evie crossed her arms.
“Oh come on. Not even for a hey?”
“No, now if you don’t mind, I’m going to bed. We’ve got a long day tomorrow and I’m not going to get yelled at for being cranky.”
Evie got up from the couch, smiling widely at her brother before chucking a pillow at him. After that, she made a mad dash towards her room, closing the door so she wasn’t in the attack zone.
“C’mon Ginny, time for bed.”
The cat climbed her way onto Evie’s bed and onto the pillow that was for her. With a sigh, Evie got into her bed, shut the light off and went to bed.
But by the morning, Evie was already hearing people scramble in the kitchen. She got up from the bed and made her way towards her bathroom, and from there into the kitchen. Everyone was in there, eating their breakfast and trying to get ahold of Britt.
Evie made herself a cup of coffee and sat moved around to make some toast. As much as she loved her spacious house, people seemed to cram into the kitchen and her dining room.
“Calm down, you guys, she could be in class.” Evie muttered, rolling her eyes.
“How would you know?” Her dad asked, turning to look at her.
“The Spanish doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving, Dad.”
“Someone’s chipper this morning.”
Evie rolled her eyes again, spreading the jam on her toast. She watched as everyone gave up on calling Britt, hoping that she’d call them later instead. One by one, Evie watched as they trailed to her living room, turning on the TV and gone straight away to football as some went to change. All of them had decided to not dress up, but to be more laid back and casual since they weren’t trying to impress anyone. That even meant Evie, changing into jeans and a t-shirt.
As the day dragged on with more football and snacks, Evie and the rest of the women stayed in the kitchen. Between the four of them, they were bustling around to make everything ready for dinner.
Her dad helped out with the turkey, because Evie refused to touch it (“Evie… its already dead… its not going to squawk at you.”).
“Mitch, can you help me set up the table, I’m going to stab myself at this rate of carrying all the knives.”
“That isn’t the answer to everything, Evie.” Mitch mocked, coming over to Evie to take the knives.
“And what is the answer to everything?” Evie asked, raising an eyebrow.
“What we talked about last night.” She glared as he smirked right at her.
“Never going to happen, Mitch.” Evie scowled while placing the plates on the table, Mitch following suit with the knives.
“You two are acting like you’re four and five again.” Dan leaned against the counter, watching the two of them.
“You’re acting like you’re eight again, being bossy as usual.” Mitch shot.
“Oldest is the bossiest, remember?” Dan teased.
“Here goes his ego.” Evie remarked, smirking at her brother.
“Watch it, Evie.” Dan warned as Evie stuck her tongue out.
“Calm down, you three. It’s time for dinner.”
“Yes, Mom.” All three of them said in unison.
Everyone bustled into Evie’s kitchen then, fighting over seats until they settled. One by one, Evie started bringing the food onto the table, giggling as her mom swatted everyone’s hands away. As soon as everything sat on the table and Evie sat in her seat to say Grace, her door knocked. Evie sighed as everyone questioned it.
“It’s probably Ms. Newby bringing over something for us. Hang on.”
The girl got up from her seat, setting the napkin down on the table and headed to the door.
“Hang on, Ms. Newby, I’m coming.” Evie yelled as she opened the door to not finding Ms. Newby, but Niall instead.
“You’re not Ms. Newby.”
“No…. I’m not. That’s your neighbor, isn’t she?” Evie only nodded her head.
“What are you doing here? Not that its a bad thing, I … remember you saying no.”
“I did say no. But, I thought about it… You said something about free meal and company, so I just… gave in I guess.” Niall shrugged his shoulders.
“You could’ve told me, I could’ve gotten a plate ready for you… whats that your holding?”
“Uh, this is Toffee Pudding and Guinness because I know you probably have shit beer. So, is it okay to join you, then?”
Evie smiled then, moving out of the way for him to enter into the house. Niall followed behind her as she made her way to the kitchen to join everyone again.
“So… I… uh.. I invited Niall a couple of days ago to join us, and he agreed to accompany us. Family, this is Niall and Niall, this is family. Except Britt isn’t here, because -”
“She’s in Spain, I remember you saying that.”
Evie smiled, biting down on her lip before jumping onto her next thought.
“Okay, I’ll take those from ya and follow me to get a plate.” Evie took everything from Niall and set it on her counter, him following behind her as she reached out for a plate. From a side glance, Evie looked over at Niall and smiled, only for him to grin back at her.
“Alright alright, I have a big enough table for people to make extra space, no one bites here.” Evie brought the extra chair over, sitting it down next to hers. From a glance up, she could see the smirk growing on Mitch’s face, making Evie turn away quickly despite him seeing the rose color on her cheeks growing.
“Alright Dad, you can say Grace.” Evie looked over at her dad, a little nod thrown at him. Her Dad stood up, looking around at everyone before giving his own short nod.
“Grace. Now lets eat.”
Niall looked over at Evie, raising an eyebrow at her. Evie laughed, looking on as plates started flying past them.
“Dad’s never been the Grace type. Just always said it, really. But there’s turkey, mash, cranberry sauce, stuffing, rolls, corn, green bean casserole and whatever is for dessert on the counter. Grab and go.”
“Did you make any of this?”
“The cranberry sauce and the stuffing. Mom did the mash and casserole and gran did the desserts.”
“Don’t try it, she’s not the best.” Mitch teased.
“Yeah? And what did you make here? Your plate thats what you made.” Evie shot back, making her own plate.
One by one, each dish passed and each of them were eating. Some even went back for seconds. She couldn’t help the seconds that she’d glance at Mitch and he’d keep smirking at her, and she flipped him off a couple of times.
“Can I ask how you met Evie? Not that its our business or anything, but I’m curious.”
Evie’s eyes turned wide and she tried to hide her face as Niall started laughing. Wiping whatever remaining crumbs off his face, Niall looked over at Evie, a cocky grin forming on his face.
“Yeah, Evie Burke, how did I meet you?”
“I bumped into him… with a glass of wine… and ruined the suit.”
“How do you bump into someone, Evie?”
“By drinking not only yours, but Helena’s white wine. It wasn’t my proudest moment.” Evie sighed.
Evie got up from her seat then, starting to take some of the bigger dishes off of the table. Tori had helped her while her mom and gran helped set up the dessert with little plates on if anyone wanted something. Everyone dispersed after that, leaving Evie in the kitchen and Niall sitting on the counter.
“Is this how you normally spend after dinner?”
“What? Doing dishes while everyone else does their own thing? Most times, but it’s my place so I feel like I should clean up.” Evie spoke, turning to the side and looked at him.
“Did you want to try a bite of this? I called my mum all the way from Ireland for this recipe and the first thing she says is ‘Are ya tryin to impress a girl’.” Niall handed a spoonful of the dessert towards her, letting her take a bite.
“Tell your mom i’m impressed.” Evie laughed.
“But really, you guys do this sort of thing? Just sit for dinner and then disperse?”
“The boys and Tori do football, my mom and gran sit in the dining room and talk. Normally, Britt and I are outside, but since she isn’t here, I’m stuck being a lost girl.”
Evie wiped her hands off then, setting the towel down by the sink and moved closer towards him, jumping her own way to sit on the counter next to him.
“So.. does this count as our next adventure?” Evie asked.
“It does, actually. Guess i’m back onto the drawing board.”
“Did you wanna borrow one of mine? I have six of them, five at work and one here in case I bring work home.”
“Funny, sweet girl, funny.”
Evie and Niall stayed in the kitchen for a little while longer, talking about aimless stuff that was brought up. Evie had warned him not to plan anything for December. That this was the worst month at her job with all those Christmas events. Niall had made a face, agreeing to the terms since he had his own busy schedule in December before heading home for the holidays.
Her family had bid Niall a goodnight and that it was nice to meet him. Evie had walked him outside to his car, leaning against it with her arms folded and a smile on her face.
“I’m really happy you came tonight… You didn’t have too and yet.”
“Your family gave me some good laughs.” She made a face and he laughed, reaching out for her hands.
His hands moved from her hands towards her waist as he brought her closer to him. He turned the both of them so that he was leaning onto the car and she was still wrapped up by him.
This silence was likeable. Both of them made faces at each other, earning laughter from both of them. This had to be Evie’s favorite sound, his laugh. She wondered if he’d say the same about her, and knowing him, it was.
What Evie didn’t realize was that both of them were getting closer, so much that their breaths were shorter and their noses were ready to touch. Niall was the one to close the gap, going in for the kiss. It wasn’t sloppy or wet, but dry and had the mixture of a guinness and toffee taste. Evie’s arms wrapped around his neck, resting on his shoulders with his hands still on her waist. It wasn’t a long kiss, but it also wasn’t a short kiss either.
Evie was the one to pull back, shades of pink forming on her cheeks. She looked away for a few seconds, trying to regain her composure and her breathing. When she looked back at him, he had a small smile on his face.
“I’ll call you tomorrow, okay?”
“Okay.” Evie breathed, nodding her head at the same time.
The place that Niall was holding onto felt bare once he let go. Her eyes watched as he got into his car and he left. She stood outside for a few minutes, letting her mind figure out what the fuck had happened.
When Evie went back into the house, she was greeted by Mitch with a smirk on his face.
“Wasn’t ever going to meet him?”
“Fuck off.”
Evie moved past him, sitting on the couch with everyone else. Her facial expression said she was paying attention, but her mind was somewhere in the clouds.
