Hello 👋 so I was wondering if you'd do a wally darling x reader so like if you know the headcannon of DHMIS of yellow guy and wally being related so like what if yellow guy came to visit wally and how would the reader react to him if not that's totally cool
anyway love your work keep up the great work and make sure to also take care of yourself 🩷💙
Oh, I’m familiar with the headcanon!! It’s one i find quite silly, myself /pos hehe!!
And thank you!! I’ll be sure to pace myself! I’m just having a lot of fun filling out these requests :] thank you, though!!! <33 /g /p
Tumblr media
Unexpected Visitor!
Wally Darling x GN!Reader, but Yellow Guy(DHMIS) visits!
Headcanons format, relationship with Wally can be interpreted by the reader— but pre-established friends (at the very least)!
*Note, I’m going to refer to Yellow Guy as “Manny” in this!.. Yeah, I’m one of those old fans.. /lhj HAHA!! Along with that, Manny is going to be Wally’s nephew in this!! Look me in my eyes and tell me Wally doesn’t reek of gay uncle… /lhj
Tumblr media
You and Wally had just been hanging out, in Home! Just sitting around and chatting, really, as the lovely little house itself creaked to add on!
In the middle of your conversation, though, a few quick knocks would come from the door— seeming to make everyone pause a bit.
I wonder who it could be!
As Wally approached the door and pulled it open— what appeared to be.. someone quite akin to him, appearance wise, stood there! Though quite obviously a child.
Wally seems to smile a bit, and warmly welcomes them inside! He spares you a small glance, the sort of apologetic “I’m sorry, I forgot to mention this was going to happen today!” kind.
Wally is a lovely host and friend, though, and soon warmly introduces the both of you to one another!
You learn the kid’s name is Manny, and he’s Wally’s nephew! Apparently, he was just coming to visit for the day.
For you, I’ll say, your opinion was neutral! Any friend of Wally’s was a friend of yours, though, right? And you wouldn’t be actively hostile to a child! (… right, reader?? Right?? /j)
Eventually, though, Wally sets Manny up with a colour book he had laying around! Seemingly for when Manny visited!
The two seemed close, and eventually you had all settled onto the floor. Wally was on his stomach, kind of just watching Manny scribble onto the colouring book— albeit timidly avoiding any of the green crayons— and nodding along as he rambled.
“And.. and then we— uh,.. we.. we went into a car..” As he just nods along happily. Wally always had been a good listener, and it seemed to apply to Manny as well!
You were happy to be there. Why, you wouldn’t necessarily say you were a pro with kids, but you did make the lil squirt giggle a few times with an appropriately landed joke!
Either way, Manny seemed pleasant, and it was slightly heartwarming to see Wally just.. hang out with him.
Of course, Wally was apart of a TV Show for kids!- But there still wasn’t any actual children in the neighbourhood, so you hadn’t ever seen him in action. Until today, of course..
Despite the unexpected visit, you still had a pleasant time with the two! How lovely :]
Tumblr media
Hello!! I’m sorry if this one didn’t come out too well-! I wasn’t really sure how to make the reader react, y’know? But I hope it was still enjoyable to have me give my thoughts on Wally and Manny’s dynamic!! I imagine them to be very sweet, haha!!
Thank you for requesting!! Have a lovely day <3

The new DHMIS season has an interesting look at the found family trope.
Like in Family, the guys are told they aren't a "real" family because they're not related. So Toddney and Lilly force them to experience their very specific idea of a family. When Duck Guy doesn't fit that mold, or just does something by accident, he gets thrown out. Red Guy literally gets taken out of the picture for not fitting in with his family for being happy and showing affection. Even if an outsider can see he's not really acting any different from them.
Yellow Guy is the most interesting, because with the inclusion of Roy at the end, I think the implication was that it was his "biological" family. And he's forced into a role that he didn't agree to, for the sake of everyone else's selfish desires and skewed beliefs. When he's given the opportunity to leave, he does, and goes back to the guys. All while the family literally eats each other alive.
All that seems like it would work for a found family story... But the guys don't really like each other. They constantly complain about the other, they insult and belittle, they enact physical violence, and outright say they aren't really friends. But it's weird, because they're also the only ones who care about each other.
The following episode, Friends, explores this further. Warren is right that it's not okay how Red and Duck treat Yellow, and friends shouldn't do that. But Warren is only doing this for his own self gain, and Red and Duck actually care about helping Yellow. They spend their only day on the computer they can to save him, before they end up insulting and beating the shit out of each other anyways.
I think there's an overall theme with the new season, is of returning to a status quo, even if it's bad for everyone. Like how TV shows frequently go back to a toxic status quo, and how that warps perception in its audience to view real life.
In this instance, a lot of sitcoms have the main cast be terrible to each other, but when push comes to shove, they do care. DHMIS shows that while, yes, it's better than the alternative- it's not a good place to be in either. A lot of abuse victims end up being in unhealthy friendships that are only marginally better. How TV sitcoms normalize it for the sake of entertainment, thus only makes it worse.

Lesley is… FASCINATING. It’s really hard to choose a favorite character in the series, but she’s up there with charged yellow for me.
~~~~~DHMIS SPOILERS AHEAD (Obviously) ~~~~~
As for headcannons, I definitely subscribe to the idea that she, Roy, and yellow are a family of sorts. Roy is most obviously yellow’s dad (based on yellow’s direct lines about him). As for Lesley being yellow’s mom… that ties into a more general (and probably not original) theory I have about the nature of the show.
I like to imagine that the show represents a purgatory of sorts. More specifically, that the main cast (not including teachers) represent people who have died and are forced to keep living the same day over and over again (June 19th or 20th; maybe when they died?). We get the most overt hints about this for yellow and Lesley in episodes 5 and 6 of the TV series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In episode 5: Transport, we get these scenes - giving us a plausible reason for yellow’s death (car accident) and a perpetrator (LE5L3Y). Given that we can hear Lesley’s VA scream “CAREFUL!”, well... you get the drift. Then, of course, there’s the iconic line: “YOU’RE NOT MY REAL SON!” from episode 6.
How Lesley may have died is a little murkier, but given that she’s confirmed to be a puppet as well (and has those stitches/ scars), I imagine that she died in the  car crash above or shortly afterwards.
Tumblr media
You can find a number of theory videos about this, but based on the D on yellow’s jumper, and the appearances of the name “David” in the series (most prominently on the gravestone), I believe David was yellow’s name when he was alive. However, in my posts, I’ll stick to referring to the yellows as “yellow” and “Charged Yellow” (or “Smart Yellow) both to distinguish them from the human David, and avoid assigning non-canon names until we learn more! :)
I would have stopped there, but there’s also evidence to support the idea that Duck was perhaps an old man who died, due to his association with the symbols shown in episode 4 of the first series:
Tumblr media
“An old man died” “-but look a computer!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’ve honestly got no clue about red, but I like to imagine that he’s around duck’s age for… reasons. I also don’t think he’s related to yellow’s family given his search for his own family, and his depiction as a neighbor in the clayhill daydream from episode 5.
Tumblr media
Thus, my cobbled-together family tree looks a bit like this:
Tumblr media
Of course, those are just my theories based on analyses and ideas I like - I may be dead wrong! (pun intended) Lmk what you guys think in the replies :)
~~~
@anonwithanaccount  @iaminyourhouse @newbieboy  and anons thank you for the asks!

Okay so been rewatching dhmis again as I should be in my free time.
And I think red guy represents yellow guys shy older brother before the house/car thing happened. This one is just a hunch based off of the end of episode 3 where red calls yellow "brother" And just his general vibes.
Also, red guy being the oldest child in an abusive household makes sense to me. Red guy sees what's happening with the family dynamic turning them against each other while also forcing them together I. Repeating conflicts with no escape is kind of relatable with that. Maybe I'm just pprojecting.
Makes Lesley's line about them always returning back home in the end very extra fucked up.
Roy is the abusive father clearly. And Lesley is the micromanaging mom. I don't know if she is also abusive or just enables Roy but she's definitely complacent. The doll house thing, the deciding what they learn and how they act, the whole making the family into a production funded by asshole Roy is something a mom in denial of how awful her life is would do.
Not that I've seen it in action.
Duck is definitely the dog mashed together with an older relative probably a grandfather. In the second episode the lamp mentions how sometimes people believe that people get reincarnated as their favorite animal, the grandfather could have loved the family pet a lot. I am hypothesizing the existence of a grandfather due to all the references to a military past for duck and how he's always in a rocking chair. We also always see duck as the one who is constantly being replaced which is common for pets especially for the ones of small children.
Yellow guy being a representation for Lesley's dead son is the one that makes the most sense to me based off the evidence. If you have a better theory please present evidence and talk me up.
I noticed that the agreed upon symbols that are the characters each have a stylized drawing of each of them included in the squiggles and I think that's pretty cool.
Red guy is yellow guys brother is probably adopted.
Roy is probably neglectful if not abusive and I think he was taking care of duck as a pet when he died of dehydration/"forgetting" to drink water. Grolton kinda looks like roy and grolton refused to give hovris any water in episode 4 when he needs to get to his dental appointment for his gum disease, which we also see Roy in disguise with absolutely terrible gums.
I need to go through everything grolton and hovris appearance to figure out any possible theory clues.
If it's not clear I'm dumping things here
I don't know if I put this idea on tumblr but Lesley was probably drunk when she ran over her son. Actually I think I did put it here. Anyway I think she probably started drinking because of either grief of grandpa dying, grief from her first son drowning, or just self medicating from Roy's bull shit.
Maybe red guy is an uncle.
I stopped watching the episodes and started watching bo Burnham and the theories are fading.
Fuck
Yeah I guess I'm done for now
Bye

Please do share your hcs even if the designs aren't finished
Pretty sure I not the only one who'd love to hear it 👀
oh god, this ask was from like 2 months ago but i got too shy to respond to it so it’s been sitting here, getting stale. probably moldy at this point. i’m so sorry– but here i am, responding to it now so… yes. (also this user was referring to the doodles i did of the DHMIS characters from the TV series a while ago). i’m not gonna do all of the characters, but i’ll do a couple:
Tumblr media
briefcase:
- i call him brandon (simply because brandon matches with brendon heehee)
- works a lot of odd side jobs but his main job is an accountant
- an absolute go-getter ! this guy genuinely loves to work. give him a task and he’ll make sure it gets done efficiently
- pokes fun at his older brother often but in reality they’re extremely close
- in spite of all the jokes and teasing, briefcase looks up to brendon, like, a lot actually. i imagine they grew up in poverty together so they really only had each other to rely on, which is why they’re so close. brendon took good care of him when he was young, so briefcase working hard to make sure he grew up to have a stable job was his way of giving back to his older brother. he probably helps brendon out financially while he works to get his novel published
Tumblr media
(unemployed) brendon:
- the whole “unemployed brendon” name joke-thing stemmed from people getting the two brothers’ names mixed up. briefcase prolly started saying something like “but i’m the employed one !” and so the whole “unemployed brendon” thing came to be. funnily enough, people actually started remembering the two’s names correctly after it
- gets easily mistaken for the younger brother because of his height and higher pitched voice but he’s considerably older by about 6/7-ish years
- loves to write. it’s his passion. a proper education was hard to come by when he was young, so he taught himself to read and write by studying the papers he sold and would buy himself books whenever he had a little extra money. now that he’s older he’s been able to publish a couple articles here in there in a few newspapers but his real goal is to get “The Ultimate Forgiveness” — a thematic autobiographical novel centered around learning to forgive oneself for past mistakes — published
- has a quieter, more reserved nature in contrast to his brother, however he can get a little loud and sassy if provoked
- bearer of an absolutely fantastic unibrow. (shrignold take notes)
Tumblr media
coffin:
- name is finn, short for finnicus
- drinks his coffee black for sure
- likes to keep his areas dim and dark. actually, he likes a lot of dark, macabre things
- is he a vampire ? we’ll never know
- he do work as a mortician though (woah bros i just rhymed)
- hobbies include taxidermy, skull collecting, poetry, reading, gardening, and wood carving
- was originally part of an amish-like family, but he left that kind of community behind. his family keeps in contact so he pretends to still follow the lifestyle just to keep the peace with them. (hence the “oh is that a TV ? yeah i’ve been thinking about getting one of those. haha, don’t tell anyone though.” and also the questionable fashion choices *cough cough* those shoes...)
- idk mane, he’s just lowkey a chillax guy. not really much else
Tumblr media
warren:
… warren.
Tumblr media
electracey:
- goes by "ellie" or "tracey"
- she’s an electrician but also the host for a TV game show called “Watt a Shock !” (ha did you see what i did there ? aren’t i clever)
- is my wife huh. what. who said that ?
- they can get brazy with an electric guitar, man
- as cool as her hair looks, be careful touching it. it’s got that static electricity effect
- related to colin and layla (laptop), she’s like their super cool older cousin.
- just super sweet and energetic overall
- knows a lot of random, entertaining trivia facts
- 100% dips their fries in milkshakes/ice cream

This isn’t really a theory itself, but it’s a rant between two theories that go well with each other.
The original theories (or at least where I found these amazing thoughts) - @dandymaximilian ‘s purgatory theory and ‘The Film Theorists’ video - Film Theory: Who’s REALLY in Control?! (DHMIS)
First of all imma point out that this IS a loop, it is mentioned a few times already and is photo proofed
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And adding on Lesley tells Yellow Guy that he ‘still can’t understand what’s funny’ even though Yellow Guy has no relating memory of meeting her before, which could conclude that in some alternative loop he’s been there before.
But here’s the funny thing, each time they go through a loop, the house changes. It could be little details such as decor, but also the house itself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another weird detail is how red guy says “All we do is sit around and some guy comes and tells us about banks or vegetables or something” because neither of those things were taught, at least yet (other then Banks, but that was in the next episode after)
Either, between every loop they can’t remember past lessons (this one doesn’t make much sense as in the YouTube series Yellow Guy in the last video could recall the teachers and what they did to them)
Or every episode (or even every few episodes) we are facing different alternatives of the three (Ones where they get different lessons, but adding up to the same value)
With this in mind, there is the book
If you forget the symbols in the middle for a second you can notice the pictures on the side
Tumblr media
Circled in red those are things that have already been mentioned or done
Bird Guy losing his head in ‘Death’
Yellow Guy losing his hand in ‘Jobs’
The shovel in ‘Death’
The one circled in Yellow I believe has no significant value to what I’m getting at as it could just mean that teachers themselves can ‘earn their coins’ too (as in the purgatory theory)
And circled in green are things that haven’t happened
Out of the three of them Yellow Guy is the only one who has kept his head throughout the whole series
And Yellow Guy doesn’t mention his batteries until episode six in the TV series, but on the cover it’s seen with Warren the ‘Eagle’
Perhaps the book isn’t just answers to the meaning of it all, but the script to how the ‘game’ is supposed to go.
This is where the purgatory theory really comes in hand
Seen in the upstair’s room these are three meaningful objects, but as u see the colors don’t line up well.
Green as in Duck Guy is the chuddle dollops, but he was never able to open the bag
The red outline of the case going to Red Guy doesn’t belong, because Red guy was never obliged with the shovel
The only one making sense is Yellow and the batteries as we find out that’s what he runs off on
Maybe in one of the alternatives loops they’re supposed to be aligned with these objects
Tumblr media
Because Duck Guy is supposed to learn to put others before himself, and develop a care for people other then himself, he has to open the bag
The ‘chuddy dees’ is the understanding of wat family means, and so far Duck Guy has been nothing but denying his own family (past life)
If he learns to love the two he is stuck with as if they are like family he can open the chuddle dollops himself
His purpose just makes sense. Like in ‘Jobs’ when Yellow Guy lost his hand, Duck Guy proceeded to do something completely selfless for the care of his friend, and because of this action, out of the other two who played along in jobs he’s the only one who ‘earned his coin’
Tumblr media
Red Guy’s purpose is not to be so nonchalant about life. He was paired with the two, but you can notice him and Duck Guy have a good connection. Constantly agreeing with each other and even showed an act of support in ‘Friends’ with Duck Guy (The scene of them trying to get into the computer)
In death, emotionally he can’t express his grief, but instead forces a clay figure to be a replacement for Duck Guy, because he and Yellow Guy can’t go on without him.
In the end Yellow Guy retrieved the shovel and dug up their friend, but this was supposed to be Red Guy’s job.
He needs to come to his emotions and express them greatly, even to go on with this crazy action as to dig up his ‘dead’ friend
Tumblr media
Yellow Guy is more of a tag along. He’s supposed to learn about himself as in relating to the ‘David theory’, because he didn’t get a chance to (in his past life)
Though he got it right with the batteries, (going back to the book’s cover) he was supposed to show this sooner (The ‘Friendship’ episode)
Tumblr media
With this, if the three can learn their purposes they can get the ‘script’ right and move on to the end, or even towards something bigger.

Being transfem it feels like the concept of womanhood can be really intimidating, a misogynist western culture sees women as these enforcers of emotional stability, of servitude and protectors of the home. Womanhood is a life that is difficult on an entirely different way than the one you were “trained“ into seeing for yourself, you’re no longer a man who’s expected to not even think about your emotions, to only work and provide for the family with a barrier between yourself and any vulnerability, you’re expected to do the exact opposite, to not see yourself as a cog on a machine but a growing organism, maybe something that you always were, something that you didn’t allow yourself to be, and to be honest about what you are is one of the most terrifying things you could think.
ANYWAYS DHMIS.
On Jobs Yellow guy is reprogrammed into being a worker, a husband and a father, he finally fits in, his speech patterns change as a result to replicate those around him, like in Love, he needs to be converted into something different to meet expectations of this new environment. It’s also important that he is competent at his job, he’s emotionally attached to his wife and child, but it is something that is wildly different from what we are shown of him.
In Family he replaces the mother of the family, he is made into something that fits in the structure around him.
But somewhat linked into that theme is Electricity, Yellow guy keeps going up the stairs to higher and higher floors and states until he meets Lesley, the woman who controls the house, he wants to stay there but is kicked out. He wants to be in the same place as the ethereal woman who takes care of the house but even on his new mode with new batteries he just can’t stay for some reason. He doesn’t even get to see what is above that seemingly supreme mother figure for the house.
It just seems to me that he keeps being shoved into different lives and different expectations but we never know how he feels about them, it doesn’t feel like he genuinely likes making parts and bits, he just happens to be good at it, he just happens to fit in what’s expected of him to do. He seems sad when he mentions his wife and child but he only mentions it once, he only says “My child...“ only his child and not his wife, he doesn’t even say their name he only says what they were in relation to him, HIS child, and since he misses her so much it feels fitting he later becomes the mother for another family.
And even though Lesley is not explicitly THE mother of the show, she’s more of a mastermind in general, she is something Yellow climbs towards, it’s something he wants to become closer to, it really feels like it is both a literal thing but also a metaphorical desire to step up to this feminine leader of the house, the “mother“ he was forced into on Family.
And in both scenarios he is only made into those roles for it’s function, he’s only a worker in Jobs, he is only allowed to have a family at all if he keeps his productivity, in Family they only want a mother for the function she would serve on the family, ordering those chicken tendies.
And yeah I just really relate to Yellow Guy’s struggles here. He functions well on the life that’s laid out to him as a working man but it’s not something we get his actual feelings on. He is forced into the motherhood role but only for it’s functions for the family, the only moment we get his actual feelings on something is in Electricity when he actually wants to stay with Lesley.
I also relate what happens in Jobs and Family with what happens in Love, he is forced into Malcolm’s cult and into marrying a woman version of himself as the story turns into a nightmare, and it’s just a recurring thing to him.

Slightly irrational DHMIS theory
This is probably just me overanalyzing stuff, (as I tend to do) but I think something to go along with the popular theory that DHMIS is some sort of torture or purgatory is that the main 3 seem kinda detached from the house.
Like yeah they fully live there, but they don't really seem to care when people just burst in and start talking to them, possibly because they know subconsciously that it isn't their house.
There's one bit where Red Guy asks who someone is, (don't remember who) but he didn't actually care about the fact that the teacher had somehow gotten into their house, despite they themselves not being able to leave.
Additionally, (way more speculative than the other two points) in Transport when Red Guy is panicking, he says he can't go back to "that house" instead of saying "our" or "the" house, which could be displaying detachment from it by not referring to it possessively.
I guess my conclusion from all this is that they know they live there, but also know (maybe deep down) it's not their house, and they're content with not questioning it.
(Could also tie in somehow to the fact that they don't know each other at all but somehow also express friendship with one another. but I am tired. it is 2am)
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
also also also this is completely unrelated to the theory but I Love the implications that they are maybe aware of themselves being watched/monitored, as shown in Electricity, Red Guy and Duck could suddenly talk in a way you'd expect a real person to, and Duck could even use a modern device. (That could relate to the webseries episode where they were forced to forget about their laptop and use an old computer for the rest of the show. something something living in the past etc) possibly also implying that Lesley could not control them when the power was out and it gave them their full range of normal skills back

Tw! Pr0shipping and all relating to it
Hi! I know I am not a "big figure" in the DHMIS community, I don't longer post about it despite being the one of the things that I'm more passionate about. But please, be careful with all these pr0shippers that have been here lately,, please do not harm them or send them discriminating messages cause that's not going to solve anything. Instead block them and educate yourself and others that problematic stuff on media does affect on how we see those things. Age gaps, Incest or Ab//se isn't something "quirky" and "fun" that makes your story more interesting. Things like that happen and aren't funny and good as pr0shippers portray in their ships.
I do not think every Pr0ship is a ph//do or something (I know in some cases there are some that are, and I do not support it at all). Most of the pr0shippers I knew were minors who came from spaces like wattpad or amino and think is not a big deal worrying about this things. Most grew thinking it's normal (I said it as someone who has also grew on those apps and have seen people acting like that).
I don't think they are "infesting" the DHMIS hashtag, at the end they are still posting DHMIS content. But they are not realizing they are idealizing and romantizing questionable things that are not nice. Besides the "it's all fiction" you are still seeing those ships as something good. Please take the time to research about that "quirky funny stuff" you like, and if you want to add something problematic to a story or headcannon please be sure to not glorify it qnd to know what you're actually dealing.

DHMIS Review: Short 4, Computers
I know it's been a while since I've done one of these, but I'm finally back to do the next episode of the shorts; one that I'm not entirely sure if the episode itself is considered a fan favorite, but it definitely introduced a character who pretty quickly seemed to become beloved by most of the fandom.
To start, I love all the little details in the first shot of the episode. I've seen this short plenty of times and on this most recent rewatch, I actually noticed two things that I missed every other time: the duck decorations on the wall between the horse picture and the world map, and the fact that these guys have a fox head mounted on their wall. Actually, I did notice they had an animal head mounted on the wall, but I never paid much attention and I think I always just remembered/saw it as the typical deer head. Shame on me for assuming anything from DHMIS would be "typical", right?
I'd love to know how you actually play "Question Fun". Because it doesn't seem to make any sense, at all. There's no indication of spaces on the board - it's just one long path that goes all over the place. And when Red picks up the card, it's not like most trivia games where you have someone asking questions and someone else gets points or something if they answer correctly; because not only does it seem like the question is a free for all, but unlike most trivia games, the answer isn't on the card itself.
"Question Fun" might just be named that because if you're not super smart, you might be questioning if you're having fun by the end if you don't just give up or just decide you don't care about actually being right. After all, there's nothing on the card or anything else that proves you gave the wrong answer, according to the game's rules, is there?
You gotta appreciate the fact that these guys have gone from being stunned when the Teachers show up, to just being self-aware enough to understand that if something happens that could result in them learning a lesson, something in the room is going to come to life and start teaching them about it. Heck, it's almost like they're just trying to get it over with, putting in no attempt to be subtle as they cue Gilbert to start what was obviously supposed to be his song.
Colin really is the first Teacher to just...pop into existence, isn't he? Sketchbook and Tony were clearly in the scene before they came to life and started singing, and with Shrignold, you could argue that he flew into the shot from somewhere off screen. Colin literally just showed up out of nowhere. It honestly makes me wonder if even in-universe, Gilbert was supposed to be the main Teacher, but Colin had such an ego that he couldn't stand for that and took over. And apparently nobody cares because despite them clearly prompting Gilbert to help them, once Colin starts singing Red just decides to ask him instead.
Okay, apparently computers in this world just show up whenever they want, because the laptop also wasn't there until Red mentioned it. Meanwhile Gilbert apparently just decided to go back to sleep while all this crazy stuff was happening around him.
Anyone else kind of love how the Students try to answer the questions as a collective? Like Duck answers about where he lives; Yellow says what he likes to eat; and while he gets cut off, Red goes to answer the name question. And more importantly, Colin just seems to accept them doing this, moving onto the next set of questions despite the fact that technically they each only answered a third of the questions they were already asked.
I don't know who I relate to more in the scene where Red is trying to get Colin to shut up and then Colin just freaks when Red smacks his keyboard. Because I also hate when I'm trying to say something and other people just keep talking over me....but also want to scream whenever someone touches me without warning or making sure I'm okay with the physical contact. So I kind of channel both of them from that scene.
I love how, after everything they've already dealt with, this is apparently where Red just loses all his patience? And he doesn't just get like, mildly irritated or annoyed; he actually seems to get noticeably angry. Kind of makes me wonder why there's not more fanworks with him having particular issues with Colin, considering he really does seem to be the only Teacher who actually got under Red's skin. Maybe because a lot of the fandom was too busy shipping Colin with Tony to notice the potential for a rivalry of sorts between him and Red....
How did the "Hey look a (blank)" not seem to become a meme format? Personally that sticks in my head more than the "digitial style" or "do a digital dancing".
I know the usual interpretation of Red's "Wait, what?" right before his mind is apparently literally blown upon seeing the cheap recreation of the first episode (though considering the line about Roy being a computer is in the scene, I guess it's supposed to be a recreation of all the episode so far) is that he's confused as to what's happening. But considering the last line before he says that is "You are not invited to the party", I have to wonder if his confusion was less over what he was seeing, and more wondering what party this weird robotic voice was talking about.

So after some thinking about what the series is going to be about and the clips of the pilot episode. I have an idea of that the series is about. Basically the series will portrayed a regular episode of DHMIS, but the only difference being that as after an episode; the characters will be more aware of their world not being real. With red guy being the main character of the series; while Roy returning and trying to keep them here, with the end being everyone escaping Clayhill.
Tumblr media
Ooooooo I love hearing about other people’s takes, thank you !! <3 Ok I have my own r u ready here i goooo Yeah, I think you’re pretty right tbh!! My personal take is kinda that but more specific? Because get this!!! I don’t think the series is unrelated/a new story from the youtube videos. I think it’s just continuing.  Just, kinda in a weird way?
So, I subscribe to the idea Red is the original creator of the show and that’s super important. Roy is the one who funded his show after finding him in ( a karaoke bar? Although, I think that’s more a metaphor for just “finding talent” )
So in this new series, when Red says  “ This isn’t even real! ”  He yells that because he’s frustrated with how this puppet world is constantly spiraling out of his control and not just.... being a happy place. Notice he yells it at the mayor as he’s acting completely out of character ( a good, respectable mayor ), isn’t responding to anything he’s saying, and is being disturbing and crazy.
And then a completely NEW character shows up right as he does that, instead of Roy. A weird, scarecrow looking puppet in a bowler hat.        I call him Mr. Bowler Hat
And he just.... zooms in really quick and scares Red.  And then Red goes back to acting within the episode’s story.
And.......... who the heck is Mr. Bowler Hat?  I can only imagine the only thing that can scare Red is someone with the power to take his show away from him. Just like Roy.  ( I just don’t know yet... if he’s related to Roy. Working for Roy? Something from Red’s personal life he’s trying to avoid? )
And THAT’S why Red is “trapped” in the show.  He isn’t.  He can walk away, but... he’d just end up in a boring office job and lose the show he always dreamed of having.  He’s trapped in an unfair society, not just in a show.
Yellow is trapped because he depends on his father, and Duck is literally just a puppet in the show and has nowhere else to go. If the show becomes a nightmare... Duck and yellow are forced to live in it.
And heck, Red’s care for his friends probably adds to why he won’t leave
AND
the reason I say the show is an expansion of the original series and not a new take on it, is because of.... the weird door opening.  That door opening literally makes it super clear they want you to think of this as connected.  because~~ in the hyper-drive style zoom blur of colors there’s scenes from the original series! All being sucked into this door.... that leads out of the house set and into Clayhill.
Something’s gone all mucky and made their story keep going past it’s ending. And I think it’s literally what’s happened in real life. THIS life, I mean. They’ve been greenlit. Their series is being continued because... it was decided it would.
Just like how the patreon videos reflected real life. They needed money, or you would never see them again.

So anyway, I can't wait for Grian to abandon this child
Like can you imagine
You get kidnapped from you dads by your short dad from another dimension who drove other you insane and abandoned on another world to rot in a fake reality, so you can be used as a way to cure his boredom?
Like even for Grian, that is fucked up.

Fuck
Yeah I guess I'm done for now
Bye

(for the ask thing) any book/tv show/movie/song recommendations?
BRO! I heckin got you man! Now, I’m gonna skip the song and book recommendation bit because that sorta thing isn’t really my scene. BUT! In terms of TV? My rec list is like a mile long. I’m gonna include a read-more line, actually.
BBC Merlin: You know I had to put this on the list. But the fact that you’re on my blog means you’ve probably watched this one, so I won’t go into detail about it. Available on Netflix
Mob Psycho 100: Just a cute, sweet story about a bunch of psychic kids trying to kill each other. A story with this much fighting has no right to be so wholesome. Mob is just a good boy, he doesn’t deserve all this! Fair warning, its messages about identity, self love, and growth WILL make you feel Emotions. Available on various anime pirating websites
Red vs Blue: The found family game is SO strong in this one. By far the best found family plot/dynamic I have ever and will ever experience. The characters are all so solid, yknow? Like it took me three rewatches to understand the plot, but I didn’t even care because I loved the characters SO MUCH. It’s also really, really funny (although some of the jokes have aged a bit poorly tbh). Basically about a bunch of space marines who goof off and accidentally dismantle corrupt governments along the way. Available on Youtube
Supernatural: Is it cringey? Yeah. Does the fandom suck? Also yeah. Is Destiel overrated? BIG yeah. But it’s got monsters, magic, family, and a plot that doesn’t revolve around romance - and really, what more could you ask for? And sure, a lot of people don’t really like the later seasons, but idk I actually prefer them. Season 15 has me THRIVING. I mean come on - character vs author?! Fighting the guy who literally wrote you into existence because he doesn’t want to give your story a happy ending?! Say what you will about Supernatural, but it’s one of the most imaginative shows I’ve ever seen. Available on Netflix
Avatar the Last Airbender: You like stellar animation, intricate worldbuilding/magicbuilding, and a perspective on war that is surprisingly mature for a kids show? Check it out. This show is without a doubt one of the best animated series of all time. Go on. Watch it. It’ll change your life. Available on Netflix
The Umbrella Academy: Time-travelling assassins. Superheroes. Ghosts. Talking monkeys. Murder mysteries. Baller soundtracks. This show will never give you what you expect. I don’t even think I could properly describe it to you. Available on Netflix
Detective Conan: An anime. It’s about a teen detective - think Nancy Drew but bloodier - who witnesses a crime and is fed an experimental poison in order to keep him from telling anyone. But instead of killing him, the poison turns him into a 6-year-old. So now he’s got to solve crimes and take down a criminal organization while in the body of a child. Naturally, shenanigans ensue. Fair warning, the main character becomes a bit of a Mary Sue in later episodes, but the first 300 or so are pretty fun. A few episodes are available on Netflix, but not any of the good ones. You’ll need an anime pirating website for that
Knives Out: My favourite movie ever, of all time. It’s a murder mystery that both subverts and pays homage to its parent genre in all the right places. It’s funny, it’s intelligent, and has a spectacular ending! Although I do wish the fandom would stop being so horny for Ransom, I mean he’s literally racist...No clue where you can find this tbh, I saw it in theatres
Derry Girls: Now I’m not normally a big fan of realistic fiction/sitcom stuff. Despite how funny they are, I’ve not even watched The Office or Parks and Rec because that normal daily life stuff just doesn’t peak my interest. And yet, somehow this story about a group of Irish high schoolers just has me enthralled. Very funny, very well-written, give it a watch. Available on Netflix
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: Another anime. Phenomenal animation? Check. Fascinating plot and characters? Check. Detailed magic system that gets my lore-obsessed heart fluttering? Big heckin check. So basically two kids try to use Fantasy Science to bring their mom back to life, only the experiment fails and has some pretty nasty consequences - one boy loses his arm and leg, while the other loses his entire body and has his soul bound to a suit of armour. Now they gotta go through government conspiracies, ethical dilemmas, and Daddy Issues to try and get their bodies back. Available on Netflix
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K: Yet another anime. I know, I know, I’m a nerd, get over it. This show doesn’t have a complex plot or even complex characters, tbh, but what it does have is some amazing humour. It’s extremely funny, and it’s also just a nice show to kick back and relax to. Basically this guy who’s so op that he could rewrite the laws of reality on a whim is stuck dealing with relationship drama in high school despite being very, very asexual and very, very tired. Mostly he just uses his powers to avoid people and eat junk food, which is honestly a mood. Available on Netflix
Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated: Honestly I’d recommend almost anything that’s Scooby Doo-related because that was my childhood obsession. I used to have like 20 of the movies on DVD before my mom gave them all away. To this day I still love Scooby Doo, and watch it whenever I get the chance. But if you ask any SD fan, they’ll probably tell you that Mystery Incorporated is the best, most intelligent, most creative installment in the franchise. And they’re right (although I do wish there was less relationship drama...) Available on Netflix
Evil Genius: This is a documentary series about the Collar Bomb Robbery. Now, despite what the above list might indicate, I actually watch a LOT of documentaries, and if I were here to recommend all of them then we would be here all day. Not really ‘funny’ like the other entries on this list, it’s actually rather tragic, but definitely a cerebral viewing experience. Available on Netflix
Screwball: Now this is a documentary that IS funny. It’s about drug scandals in baseball. But the dramatic scene re-enactments are done with child actors that are all wearing fake beards and pretending to be drug dealers. It’s not only a fascinating subject, but it’s got amazing editing and visuals that have me in awe. Available on Netflix
Behind the Curve: Yet another documentary. This one’s about the rise of the Flat Earth movement. You’ll spend most of the time on the verge of having a stroke because of how stupid it all is. Available on Netflix
The Movies That Made Us: Okay okay okay last documentary on the list I swear. This one’s exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a series talking about the behind-the-scenes production of iconic movies like Home Alone and Ghostbusters. I eagerly await the second season. Available on Netflix
Monster Factory: If you’re familiar with the McElroy brothers and their brand of humour, you’ll love this. Griffin and Justin team up to make the most disturbing avatars they can create using video game character creators. The origins of the Final Pam meme. If I had a shirt with a quote from Monster Factory on it, I’d die a happy man. Available on Youtube
Baman Piderman: The dumbest show I have ever watched, but it’s so adorable and stupid and I love it so much. It doesn’t really have a plot, but later episodes allude to the presence of one and I’m upset because there are so many mysteries/questions hinted at and we’ll never get answers because it’s been abandoned. PLEASE watch it. Available on Youtube
Stranger Things: Okay, season 2 was a bit of a let-down imo, but season 1 was ICONIC and the Scoops Troop subplot in season 3 deserved its own freakin spinoff. I’m not joking. I didn’t even like s3 all that much, but the only reason it’s my favourite is because the Scoops Troop plot was so great. People call this show ‘horror’ but I don’t think it’s scary enough for that, although it is admittedly kinda spooky. If you like 80s nostalgia and the horror aesthetic, then I’d give it a watch (Do it for Scoops Troop. Do it for Robin). Available on Netflix
Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart: Despite my overwhelming love for this film, I’ll be the first to admit it’s kinda mediocre. The plot is weird and the romance feels forced, but despite its flaws it manages to be one of my favourite movies. Mostly I just like it for the unique concept and beautiful ending. Also the music is off the par man. Probably because the writer/producer of the movie was the lead singer for a French band called Dionysus (what? I do my research). Available on Netflix
Wakfu: I haven’t seen past season 3, but so far it’s pretty good. You go in thinking it’s just a wholesome action/adventure show about a kid who can create portals - but then it just. Sucks you in. From its bopping theme song to its fantastic found family to the unique worldbuilding, you very quickly fall in love with it. It’s got a cool plot and also talking dragons, and it doesn’t get better than that. Available on Netflix
Mystery Skulls Animated: Technically not a TV show so much as it is a series of animated music videos with a plot, but I’ll be damned if this isn’t one of the greatest things of all time. It’s basically Scooby Doo but if Shaggy got possessed by a demon and killed Fred, causing Fred to become a ghost hellbent on revenge-killing Shaggy in return. And if Scooby was an ancient Japanese spirit that bit off Shaggy’s arm, forcing him to wear a metal prosthetic. Yeah, MSA is wild. It’s only got three videos out so far, with a fourth one coming out this October, but there’s already so much lore! Available on Youtube
Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared: Ah yes, yet another cringey entry on this list. But you know what? Cringe culture is dead!!! And despite its fandom being...like that...DHMIS really is a cool show. Think if Sesame Street was like haunted or something. The episodes about creativity and telling time remain the most unsettling, imo. Definitely worth a watch. Available on Youtube
Inanimate Insanity: Oh boy. Am I seriously recommending you dip your little fingies into the object fandom? Yes. Yes I am. This show is so obscure it makes freakin Detective Conan look popular. At its core it’s a parody of Total Drama Island and Survivor but with anthropomorphized inanimate objects as characters (hence the name). Season 2 is actually really, really good and surprisingly competent. You just gotta get through season 1 first. Available on Youtube
The X-Files: Wow, a live action series on this list? Who woulda thought??? But seriously, this show is really fun. Memes and jokes aside, I love it. Scully and Mulder are fun characters with great chemistry (both platonic and romantic), the Lone Horsemen are hilarious, and every episode is a unique adventure into the most creative acid trips the human mind could conceive of. Phenomenal from start to finish (if you ignore the last season). I have no clue where you would watch this. Pirate it, probably
Buzzfeed Unsolved: Two idiots investigate cold cases and haunted locales while being utter dumbasses about it. You know the “hey demons it’s be ya boi” meme? That came from these guys. Available on Youtube
Kingdom: Ngl, I didn’t go into this expecting zombies. Or for it to take place during Korean feudalism, for that matter. But mediocre dubbing aside, this show has such a clever concept. It takes the zombie apocalypse genre and gives refreshing, unique twists to old tropes that they feel like something new. Seo-bi is my wife and she deserves all the love and appreciation in the world, and those are just Facts. Available on Netflix
My Hero Academia: Superhero high school anime. I personally am not a fan of later episodes/arcs, but the first three seasons are pretty dang good. Diverse, colourful ensemble cast that you easily grow to adore, interesting commentary on disability (although I’m not qualified to give any actual takes on that), and a school curriculum that makes me very, very concerned for the wellbeing of these children. Plus all the superpowers - aka ‘quirks’ - are super imaginative and, well, quirky! I just wish people would stop shipping the main character with his childhood bully...You’ll need to pirate this one too lmao
Danny Phantom: The highlight of this show is its ‘phandom’, because unlike someone (*cough* Butch Hartman), we’re not a bunch of cowards. It’s about a guy who messes around with his parents’ lab stuff and accidentally acquires the ability to die! Well, half-die. He can turn into a ghost and fight other ghosts. Although the show never explores the existential, traumatic fallout of being kinda-sorta-dead, the potential for something deep and emotional is there. Plus there is a LOT of accidental subtext for a Big LGBT+ Metaphor. So much so that the Trans Danny theory is basically canon. Uhhh not available on Netflix anymore so it’s time to whip out your pirate hat, matey
And there you have it! Like I said, I have a lot of TV recommendations. And I just KNOW I’m forgetting a ton, but this is already really long so we’ll have to cut off here.
Thanks for the ask! <3
