#finn's ocs#oc references#finn's art#YAY i finished them yayayayayayayayyay#i hope that they all look okay too ive been trying some new stuff out esp in the faces. different mouth shapes and nose shapes and#ran out of space. and eyes and eyelid shapes the latter of which ive been getting really great input on from some friends who are great <3#so hopefully they were all done justice but of course i usually go back and edit stuff after the fact anyway so i never discourage input in#ran out of space again. in general*#anyway this specific set was fun to do. i wanted them all to stand out in different ways so i didnt just give them a flower theme#uranus has a sort of vague nature theme but the light blues and whites under the dark greens were like#meant to evoke the sky. which is her namesake. but the sky name also sort of refers to the fog in a way#anthe was the most obvious w the nature theme is IS flowers. and lesath also has a flower motif going to but poisonous ones#crux is like. Rocks. because he rocks we love a short king#and patella diphda and musca all have various types of animal and or bug themes. is a snail a bug or an animal? not sure#musca also has a bit of a fairy theme going too which like are usually associated w nature#and of course ramus is apple themed. thats a kind of plant like anthe and lesath but instead of a flower its a fruit#theres technically another character who has an apple theme but in a different way so i dont think they impede on each other#yeah :)

Chapter Sixteen: A New Addition to the Group
Lucy walked through Podsolnukh, Loke's key in her hand. She looked around at her surroundings every few minutes and listened for any sound that indicated a breaking and entering.
Just before she, Freed, and Rufus parted their ways to search for the dark mages who were robbing houses every night, Lucy taught her two partners how to channel their magic into a golden key and launch celestial fireworks into the night sky, alerting the other two of the location of the dark mages they were looking for. When they parted, Rufus took Cancer's key and Freed took Libra's key.
Lucy focused her attention on the group of mages who she was on the lookout for, trying to not let her mind wander to the three mages who she was indirectly combatting, especially Nyx. She tried to not remember how she could feel his dark eyes bore into the back of her head. She tried to not remember how he spoke, sounding as though he truly didn't believe in the mission he and his two partners were on. She tried to not think about how the young man seemed to haunt her memories. It was his memory that chased away what little sleep she used to be able to get.
The celestial wizard looked down at Loke's key, contemplating summoning him for a distraction. She raised his key, just about to summon him, when she heard the sound of wood breaking and a woman screaming. Lucy whipped around to see a woman being held to the ground by a large, dark figure, and three other dark figures walking into a house, the door seeming to have been broken.
Lucy raised the golden key into the air and made a circle with it, causing golden fireworks to burst in the sky. Rufus and Freed should be there in mere minutes. She then called out, "Open! Gate of the Lion: Loke!" She then broke into a run as Loke appeared beside her and ran alongside her. She then requiped Taurus' key into her hand and placed the key's blade to her chest, calling, "Star Dress: Taurus Form!" She was then instantly clothed in a different outfit. She paid no mind to the numerous scars that covered her body, her mind too focused on stopping the dark mages, saving the screaming woman, and taking the keys that one of these mages had.
Lucy and Loke came to a stop before the mages who had just exited the house with an assortment of household items in their arms, shouting at them, "your nights of robbing these innocent people are over!"
One of the mages who was holding an expensive-looking lamp sat the object down and stalked toward the celestial wizard and celestial spirit, sneering, "and who's going to stop us? A kitty and a bimbo?" Lucy observed that the dark mage was a small woman, seeming to be only slightly bigger than Levy. She had green hair that was styled in a choppy pixie cut and her figureless body was covered in revealing clothing that was similar in style to the clothes that Sorano used to wear. The only difference was that there were no angelic feathers and her outfit’s color was black instead of white.
Lucy took a step back, forcing away the reminder of Sorano. She then bit back, "we're not alone!"
The woman crossed her arms over her chest, saying with a tone that was tinged with sarcasm, "really?"
Before Lucy or Loke could say anything in response, a masculine voice spoke, "really." In a flash, Freed, the one who had spoken, and Rufus were standing beside Lucy and Loke, ready for a fight.
The man who was holding down the innocent woman released her and walked toward the mages who were threatening them. He waved his fellow dark mage off before he spoke, "I guess we have some pesky bugs to crush." He then made a gesture with his hand, resulting in the woman and one of the men attacking Freed as the two other men attacked Rufus.
Seperated from her partners, Lucy looked to Loke, ensuring that he was ready to fight. When she got a nod of affirmation, she looked back to the man, who she assumed was the leader and celestial wizard who had the keys she was after, and she launched herself forward with Loke, the pair aiming to punch the man together. However, the large man with dusty brown hair swiftly pulled a silver key out of his pocket and summoned, "Open! Gate of the Tucan: Tucana!"
In a flash of silver light, a short, young woman stood in front of her wizard, she reacted quickly, calling out, "Orange Fire!"
Before either could react, Lucy and Loke where enveloped with orange flames. The fire gave off a stench so horrible that the pair stopped in their tracks and began to gag and hack, unable to move past the smell. Once the fire faded and Lucy and Loke were just about recovered enough to continue their attack, they heard Tucana call out, "Rainbow Fire!"
Loke shouted, "Princess!" He then gave Lucy a hard push, causing her to roll along the ground, further pushed by the explosion that Tucana's second attack caused. Lucy came to a stop when she rolled into the the exterior wall of a house. She groaned in pain as she pushed herself to her feet, ignoring the blood that beaded from the several cuts on the exposed parts of her body, as well as the blood that seeped through her gloves from her fingernail-less fingers.
Seeing that Loke had returned to the Celestial Spirit World, she clenched her teeth, knowing that her close friend had been heavily injured. Anger swelled within her as she took her whip into her hand and bounded forward. As the sounds of Rufus' and Freed's fights filled her ears, she called out, "Earth Wave!" and struck the ground with her whip, causing it to break below Tucana and the dark mage, sending them flying high into the sky with pained screams before they crashed back down onto the broken ground.
Lucy stood several yards away from them, waiting to see if they were going to attack her again. As she watched, the man hit Tucana upside her head after they both staggered to their feet. He scowled at the celestial spirit, "you useless spirit! You were supposed to kill her!"
Tucana rubbed the back of her head as she responded meekly, "I'm sorry, Master Ki. I'll do better."
Lucy clenched her fists, seething at the man's, Ki's, treatment of his spirit. She raised her whip for another attack, however, was cut off before she could begin by Tucana calling out, "Red Fire!"
Lucy was then engulfed by red fire. As the red flames lapped at her exposed skin, the blonde cried out in pain, every lick of the flame feeling as though she was really being burned with fire. She collapsed to her hands and knees, her eyes screwed shut as her burning anguish continued.
Once the fire had extinguished itself, Lucy was left gasping in pain. The sounds of fighting around her were muffled in her ears, overridden by the searing pain that had taken over her body. Her body tembled as she was enveloped by a golden light that signaled her unwillingly changing her clothing back to the modest shirt and jeans that she was been wearing earlier. She was forced to wait for the killing blow. However, it never came. Instead, she was just barely able to hear a man calmly say, "Spiral Palm." She could hear the ensuing attack, a strong wind that sounded as though it was forming a tornado and the pained screams of her opponents.
Before she knew it, she was taken into a pair of arms and carried away from the battling. Coming back to her senses as the pain began to dull, she pushed against the hard chest of the man who had her, muttering orders for him to put her down. She finally was set down on the hard ground inside of an alleyway. She looked across from her, ready to kick, when she found that the man who was sitting on the opposite side of the alleyway was Midnight. The man was sitting with his legs criss-crossed and he stared at Lucy, an expression on his face that she couldn't identify, mainly because he was sitting in the shadowed side of the alleyway.
Lucy stammered, confused as to how and why he was there, "um...w-what are you doing here?"
Midnight answered, "I came to help you. Thought that extra help wouldn't hurt." He gave a shrug of his bare shoulders. He then gently tossed something to Lucy as he continued, "I grabbed these too."
Lucy looked at the objects that had made a metalic clattering sound as Midnight tossed them to her, finding that three keys were laying neatly in front of her. She gave Midnight an appreciative smile, ignoring the feeling of shame at having needed to be saved that appeared within her. She then picked them up as she stood. She listened to the outside of the alleyway, noting that she couldn't hear any fighting. Knowing that Freed and Rufus were victorious and likely looking for her, she decided to quickly contract her new spirits.
She looked at the first key, seeing that it was silver in color and had a dragonfly-shaped blade while the bow had a dark blue, unidentifiable, winged bug on a silver background. Knowing which spirit this was, she pointed the blade away from her and spoke, "I connect to the World of Celestial Spirits! Heed my call and pass through the gate! Open! Gate of the Fly: Musca!"
A flash of silver light signalled the arrival of the new celestial spirit. Lucy found, sitting on the ground lazily, was a young man, perhaps seventeen in physical age, who appeared to be dressed in a fly costume. The young man was picking his teeth with a toothpick. Quickly noticing Lucy, he flicked the toothpick away and hopped to his feet. Lucy took in his appearence. He was dressed in a dark green full-body suit with a dark grey belly. On the back of the full-body suit were costumed fly-like wings. On top of his head, nestled into his choppy, short, black hair, were fake fly-like eyes and antenna, all seeming to be attached to a handband. Despite the fly costume, he was attractive, possessing a cute baby face, similar to Natsu. Plastered across his face was a white, toothy grin.
Lucy smiled at him politely and spoke, "Hi! I'm Lucy. I was wondering if you'd like to make a contract with me?"
Musca answered with a voice that was high pitched and slightly raspy, "I would love to!"
With that, Lucy went on, "great! What days can I summon you?"
"Any day you want!"
"And what can you do?"
Musca jammed his thumb at himself as he answered proudly, "I can do some espionage by turning into a fly!"
Lucy blinked a few times before she asked curiously, "really?"
Musca nodded several times before he exclaimed, "watch!" and became engulfed by grey clouds. When the clouds faded, a fly flew toward Lucy and landed on her nose. The celestial wizard couldn't help but chuckle. She thanked Musca and dismissed him, watching cross-eyed as the celestial spirit, in his fly form, disappeared with a silver flash.
Lucy requiped the new key to join her other keys before she looked down at the next one, finding that the blade was rainbow colored and shaped like a tucan's beak. The silver bow was shaped like a bird in flight. The blonde took a few moments to prepare herself for facing the celestial spirit who she had just briefly fought.
She pointed the key outward and summoned, "I connect to the World of Celestial Spirits! Heed my call and pass through the gate! Open! Gate of the Tucan: Tucana!"
In an instant, a young woman stood before Lucy. The celestial spirit was small, being the same size and, possessing the same figure, as Levy. She was wearing a strapless dress that had a black bodice with a sweetheart neckline. The knee-length circle skirt of her dress was colored by beautiful shades of red, orange, and yellow that faded into each other down the length of the skirt. Finishing the outfit were black, fingerless gloves that reached just below her elbows, black stockings, and light blue flat shoes. Her waist-length black hair was angled in a way that mirrored the beak of an actual tucan. The tip of her hair was white, reminding Lucy of Midnight's two-toned hair. Tucana had a young face, making Lucy think that she was a child rather than a woman. The celestial spirit's eyes were large and black, but had blue circling her irises.
Lucy quickly took notice that the young spirit was trembling, seeming to be fearful of how her new wizard would treat her. The celestial wizard was reminded of Aries, and she felt fresh anger rise from within her at the thought of that man treating Tucana the same way that Karen treated Aries. She stepped forward, a kind and comforting smile on her face, as she raised her hands in an attempt to calm the celestial spirit. She spoke with a soothing tone, "it's okay. I'm not going to hurt you."
Tucana took a step away, fear filling her eyes. She asked hesitantly, "r-really?"
Lucy nodded, cooing, "I promise. You're safe with me." Thinking that maybe it would help if she introduced herself, she did just that, "I'm Lucy Heartfilia."
She watched as Tucana's fearful expression was taken over by what resembled a mixture of awe and surprise. The celestial spirit whispered, just loud enough for Lucy to hear, "you're Princess Lucy?"
Lucy's smile dropped and she stared at the spirit in confusion. Princess Lucy? When did she get that title? She questioned, "what did you call me?"
Tucana relaxed a little, answering, "Princess Lucy. That's what many of your spirits call you. They love to brag about being contracted to you, even Capricorn, Cancer, Aries, and Virgo like to brag on occasion."
Lucy blinked a few times, not knowing what to make of that information. Quickly deciding to brush it away, she put a smile back on her face and responded, "would you like to make a contract with me?"
Tucana's eyes widened even more and an adorably large smile stretched across her cute face. She nodded her head furiously. Lucy couldn't help but chuckle at the adorable sight. She then said, "I just need to know when I can summon you and what magic you use."
Tucana answered happily, "you can summon me on any day! And I use Rainbow Fire!"
Lucy opened her arms, allowing the celestial spirit to hug her, which she clearly wanted to do. Tucana murmured, "thank you, Princess."
Lucy muttered her response, "welcome to my family, Tucana." With that Tucana disappeared back to the Celestial Spirit World.
Lucy requiped Tucana's key to join the others and then looked down at the thrid and last key. She observed that the blade was shaped like an arrow and on the square bow was the silhouette of an archer with the string of his bow pulled back, ready to shoot an arrow. Knowing which spirit this had to be, Lucy got into her summoning stance and called out, "I connect to the World of Celestial Spirits! Heed my call and pass through the gate! Open! Gate of the Hunter: Orion!" The silver key glowed before quickly fading to reveal...
Nothing.
Lucy stared at the place where her new spirit should have been standing, confusion clear on her face. Midnight spoke up from where he sat, "isn't this the part where a spirit shows up and fauns over you?"
The celestial wizard shot a glare at the now chuckling man, stating to him, "they don't faun over me." She then looked down at the key in her hands, muttering, "where is Orion? He should have appeared."
She shook her head as she turned to Midnight, telling him, "I'm sure Freed and Rufus are looking for me by now. Let's go find them and get to our hotel, then I can figure out what's going on."
Lucy watched as Midnight nodded and stood up before she walked out of the alleyway to look for Freed and Rufus, hearing the footsteps of the former dark mage follow behind her.

Forsterite
A silent and clumsy Gem who represents Musca. Forsterite is known to collect bugs and shiny things. In the past, she was seen as an omen by her fellow Gems on Homeworld, so she doesn't have many friends.

do they have a fear they want to conquer, but haven’t yet? (vittoria)
Tumblr media
She is a big cat, but Vittoria fears losing her human. She is protective of Sarina, and Sarina is protective of her. Think of Vittoria as a familiar that is well-cared for if Sarina was a sorceress.
I think this fear stems from my oc's canon death in the future arc. I still do not know the how, but the whodunnit lies with Byakuran's faction. Vittoria has memories of the dead timeline where Sarina is dead. There are many dead timelines, in fact, and all of them have Sarina's death by Byakuran's faction. To this end, Vittoria does not trust anyone who is affiliated with Byakuran.
This also extends to Spanner, sadly, who is now an engineer of the Gola Musca. Sarina is vigilant with keeping Vittoria occupied when making sure he's doing his job.
There are three that make up Cloud Officer of the Varia in my original character's canon. Spanner who is the engineer of the Gola Musca. Sarina who is the actual Cloud Officer. And the mecha that is Gola Musca. Whenever Sarina is on a mission, the mecha is in service as the Varia's seventh.
When in the canon, the Varia only use the mecha as their seventh. This is because they assassinated the previous Cloud Officer and previous commander.

Supporting character OCs for Arcana Twilight!
Galatea is the type of person that needs girl friends (+ also i feel iffy that the only dark skin character is evil idk)
I am under the assumption Contell is a blended school so 💅✨️
Anyone's free to use them or w/e they're essentially npcs
Tumblr media
ALGEBI - 1ST SORCERESS OF CAPRICORN:
Part of Kamargo clan and oldest of the bunch.
She is the first non-guide commitee sorcerer to befriend Galatea, and is surprisingly bubbly in spite of her constellation choice.
Due to being a constellation's first choice, she has quite the influence in spite of not being in a leadership position.
Despite her sweet and kind demeanor, she can be quite manipulative to get what she wants— her people skills are very developed. Think of her as a more cheerful Spica.
Algebi is the one who introduces you to the rest of the group and is always keeping tabs on everyone's well-being.
REDA - 3RD SORCERESS OF AQUILA:
Part of Fili Pfeper clan.
Quite shy and reserved, but the best fighter of the group!
Has a crush on Alpheratz, initially felt threatened about Galatea being so close to him, but after getting to know each other better, they became fast friends 🤝
A bit of a crybaby and very sensitive, which though makes people not take her seriously ar times, also makes her extremely empathetic and kind-hearted.
I have an hc that sorcerers of the same constellation choice are like a second family, so she's acquainted with Altair of Kamargo! That's how she and Algebi met.
MYIA - 1ST SORCERESS OF MUSCA
Part of Tharaval clan.
Even though she is a 1st constellation choice, Musca is a small and weak constellation, so she doesn't have the same authority as Algebi.
She's quite aloof and forgetful, but she does try her best to keep up with Tharaval principles by doing her best on each mission.
Works best at night and as such, trains separately from most Tharavals.
Has a strange affinity for cats and dogs even though she is allergic.

Fixed up more of my blog and updated the site links. I still need to draw my featured muse and draw out the background for my blog.
New Muse is Sarina Guerrera from Katekyo Hitman Reborn (OC)
Can either roleplay with her as the Varia Cloud officer (much preferred as she leaves it up to the boys to use the Gola Musca often), but you could roleplay with her as just another Varia operative but Cloud user. Either way she is codenamed Beelzebub.

Hello hello! Welcome to my side blog about my original characters! I have been working on their story called Deadly Symbiosis for a while and I thought I could share details about it (without spoiling too much hehe.) I love to write fun facts, information and random thoughts so you should expect that more than the actual story because I still need to figure it out XD
Short lore resume:
The setting is like our world but with the addition of an animal DNA-eating parasite that infects humans. In exchange for a body to live in, the parasite gives the ability to transform into an animal creature to the human it infect. The animal form depends on the animal the parasite comes from. There is 2 types of symbiosis: Deadly and Perfect. The Deadly one is prone to be brainwashed by the parasite and becoming a monster forever while the Perfect one form a single being with the parasite and gain special abilities. The special abilities depends on the parasite's type and there are 5: Lepus (Horn/claws/hair hardness and length control ability), Cygni (Sound related ability), Draco (Heat related ability), Cetus (Water related ability) and Musca (Poison related abilities).
You can find my OCs ToyHouse by clicking here! Other significant posts will be linked under the cut.

It’s been a month but I finished another design in between a bigger thing with a deadline I need to finish, so here you go. Musca, the fly! I had some fun with the colour scheme, and messed around with some iridescent effects. Hope you like! :) ---------- The constellation symbol for Musca was originally designed by Denis Moskowitz and released to the public domain

And I finally finished up this batch of OCs too!!! The members of the Gladiatoria guild! Again click the pics for a better view :p
Gladiatoria, also known as the warrior’s guild, is almost completely comprised of the flashiest glory-seeking types, so you can imagine they’re fairly competitive, making them another formidable rival guild for the main cast. In fact, Gladiatoria is currently ranked as the #1 guild, even though it’s relatively new. Most likely because of the incredibly strict (to put it lightly) regiment of the guildmaster, Mars. It really takes a certain type of person to not be chewed out in this rigorous process. How long is this system really sustainable though?
Anyway, just like with Pandemonium, I’ll put some individual character info and close-ups under the cut!
Tumblr media
Name: Mars
Name Origin: The planet named after the Roman God of war
Pronouns: He/him
Age: 71
Guild rank: Guildmaster
Weapon: Spear
Ethos (Power): Goliath
Flaw power is based on: Straight up abusive
Notes: Literally the world’s worst grandpa. Still bitter about shit that happened like 40 years ago
Tumblr media
Name: Antares
Name Origin: The star “antares“ which name literally means “like ares” or, more aptly, “like mars”. It’s one of the most likely stars to go supernova
Pronouns: He/him
Age: 18
Guild rank: 4 star
Weapon: Three section staff
Ethos (Power): Charred azure
Flaw power is based on: Rage
Notes: Mar’s grandson. My brother said he looks like he’d be voiced by Bakugou unfortunately
Tumblr media
Name: Alphard
Name Origin: The star alphard, literally meaning “the individual,“ it’s the brightest star in Hydra and sometimes called “lonely alphard.”
Pronouns: They/them
Age: 19
Guild rank: 3 star
Weapon: Hook swords

Chapter Thirty-Seven: Rufus' Rescue
Midnight peeked from behind a tree at an unassuming, most likely abandoned, house that sat in the middle of a forest. He furrowed his brow as he asked the mages who were hiding among the vegetation with him, "we're sure that this is the right location?" His voice was low, careful not to make too much noise in case there was a hidden person who was on the lookout.
Lucy answered, her voice also low, "yeah, it definitely is. Sirius couldn't be wrong." She reached up with one hand and adjusted Rufus' hat, which she had rested upon her head.
Midnight nodded and glanced at Freed, who was finishing up the runes that Lucy had instructed him to put up. Insurance that Terra, Lust, and Nyx won't be able to easily escape. He then turned back to look at the house again. His eyes roamed over the outside, trying to deduce what part of the house Rufus could be being kept in.
It didn't take long for him to spot a small window that sat at the base of the house's exterior. A basement. It was a typical place to keep a captive, but also the easiest place.
"Have you thought of a plan, Lucy?" Freed asked as he returned to where they were hiding.
Midnight heard her hum in thought before she asked him, "Midnight, do have any guesses as to where in the house they could be keeping Rufus?"
Midnight looked over at her before he looked back at the house. He reached out a hand and pointed at the small window that he had spotted. "My guess would be the basement."
Lucy's eyes quickly locked onto the window. She nodded and requipped a silver key into her hand. Midnight and Freed watched as she stood up and stepped backward, away from the tree that she was hiding behind. She raised her key and softly called out, "Open! Gate of the Fly: Musca!"
In an instant, a young man in a fly costume appeared in front of Lucy, sitting with his legs crisscrossed and his chin resting on top of the knuckles of his hand, which were balled into fists while his arms were propped up in the sides of his knees. He grinned up at Lucy and asked, rather loudly, "what'd ya need?"
Midnight gave a slight grimace at his loud tone while Lucy shushed him. She then instructed him, "I need you to turn into a fly and go into that to find out who is where inside."
Musca stood up and brushed the dirt off of his costume before he questioned, his voice now low, and grin still on his face, "how many people am I looking for?"
"Four. Three celestial wizards and one of our friends."
Musca flashed a thumbs-up before he shifted into a fly and flew toward the house. Midnight watched until he wasn't able to see the spirit any longer. He then looked over at Lucy and asked, "what are we going to do with the celestial wizards if we catch them?"
Lucy glanced at him before she looked down at the ground, seeming to be thinking. It was a question that Midnight hadn't realized that he was wondering, but now that he thought about it, he didn't think they had ever talked about the topic, nor had he been told what the plan was.
Freed looked at Lucy with a furrowed brow. "Yeah, what are we going to do with them? None of the books I looked through have any information on them, and Mest hasn't heard of them, so it's possible that the Magic Council doesn't know about them. That could make turning them in difficult."
Lucy nodded as she continued to stare at the ground. Eventually, she sighed and answered, "let's just focus on saving Rufus. Getting him back safely should be our first priority."
Midnight nodded, but he was still slightly concerned with what they were supposed to do with Terra, Lust, and Nyx. It wouldn't be easy to detain and transport them to be imprisoned. While he was on that train of thought, he also couldn't recall them ever learning how the three celestial wizards' mission was possible.
He looked over at Lucy again, asking, "how are they even able to take over the Celestial Spirit World?"
It was Freed who responded, his tone a little on the harsh side, "I don't think that talking this much is a good idea. We can figure all of that out when we capture them."
Midnight suppressed a glare at the other man's tone while Lucy turned to Freed and soothed as she place a hand on his shoulder, "his questions are understandable, I'm curious too. Try not to be harsh, please."
A light dusting of pink appeared on Freed's cheeks as he softly replied, "right, I apologize." It was clearly directed toward Lucy rather than toward Midnight. However, that wasn't what bothered Midnight. A feeling of irritation swirled in his gut as he grimaced at the sight of the blush on Freed's face.
He turned his head away, to look back at the house. He still didn't understand why it irritated him so much when Lucy would be so affectionate toward Freed or Rufus, before his capture, resulting in either man blushing lightly. There was something about the occasional display that would make him want to steal away Lucy's attention, even though he never responded much better than Freed and Rufus whenever Lucy would focus her attention on him, praising him for any sort of accomplishment.
It especially frustrated him that he had yet to figure out why he felt this way about Lucy. Recently, he's found himself watching her more than he used to. Without realizing it, he would end up staring at her with a warmth on his face and in his heart, along with a fluttering feeling in his gut, as he watches her do anything, typically admiring her newest keys.
Speaking of, has he, Freed, and Rufus given Lucy any of the keys that they collected at la Cour de Velours? He knew that he hadn't given her the two keys that he collected, having forgotten about doing so due to Rufus' capture. He wouldn't be surprised if Freed was the same way and Rufus most likely didn't either due to having been captured.
He turned back to look at Lucy again. She was staring intently at the house, one of her hands resting on her opposite arm as she, seemingly absentmindedly, picked at non-existent lint on her blue shirt sleeve. He quickly found himself staring at her again, but couldn't find it in himself to care very much about how weird it might look. So, he doesn't look away. Instead, he observes how the freshly risen sun shines down on Lucy's golden hair, making it glow beautifully. Her dark brown eyes seemed to sparkle in the light, something that, as he's noticed, was a common thing that happened whenever it was sunny outside.
A sudden sharp, but incredibly brief, pain snapped his attention away from Lucy and over to Freed, who had silently moved to stand just behind him. The green-haired man gave him a silent glare, which was clearly a warning that he should stop staring at Lucy. Midnight returned the glare, continuing the sort of standoff until Lucy spoke excitedly, yet still softly, "Musca! He's back!"
Midnight and Freed watched as Lucy walked past them to speak with her spirit, who returned to his more human form to give his report. The fly costume-clad young man gave a large grin as he chirped, "your blonde friend is in the basement!"
Lucy asked, concern lacing her voice, "did he appear to be hurt?"
Musca shook his head. "Not really. He's tied up, though."
"What about the celestial wizards?"
"Two of them seem to be preparing to leave. The other one is gonna stay, I guess."
Lucy nodded and hummed in thought. "Who are probably leaving?"
"The chick and a guy with blue hair."
Lucy thanked Musca and dismissed him back to his realm. When she turned back to face her two friends, Midnight questioned, "what's the plan now?"
Lucy answered, "we should get to Rufus first. Terra and Lust would know that we're here once they discover the runes that Freed set up, so we need to release him before they get to us before we can get to him. We also need to deal with Nyx, but I'm sure that the three of us can take care of him just fine."
She walked back to the tree that she was previously hidden behind and peered at the house. A few moments of silence followed before she spoke again, "we should wait for Terra and Lust to leave. Once they do, we can go in from different entrances." She turned around to look at her guildmate. "Freed, how many doors did you see?"
"Three. The front door, back door, and a side door." Freed wasted no time in listing off the entrances to the house that he had seen while setting up his runes.
Lucy nodded. "I'll go in from the door opposite of the one that Terra and Lust exit from. While I look for Rufus, Freed, you'll look for Nyx and try to capture him. Midnight, you'll stay outside and go after Terra and Lust."
Midnight nodded along with Freed, agreeing with the plan. The three then turned back to the house to wait for Terra and Lust to exit the house. Midnight tapped his fingers against the tree that he leaned against, feeling unusually restless. Well, he supposed that uneasy would be a better word. He wasn't sure why he was feeling this way, but really irritated him and he itched for Terra and Lust to finally come out of the house so that they could get on with the dual rescue and capture plan.
It took several minutes of tense waiting, but eventually, Terra and Lust finally exited the house through the front door, making their way toward a part of Freed's rune wall. Lucy then nodded toward the two men and the trio set out to their assigned jobs: Lucy to find Rufus, Freed to capture Nyx, and Midnight to capture Terra and Lust.
Midnight quietly but swiftly made his way in the direction that Terra and Lust had walked in. As he got closer, he readied himself for a fight. As confident as he was in his ability to fight, he couldn't exactly deny that he was nervous about this confrontation. He had no idea what other forms of magic these two were capable of using, or which spirits they had. Going by what Lucy had said about when she, Sorano, and Yukino were captured, Terra knew Sleep Magic. The chances of her knowing other types, or Lust knowing other types, were higher than Midnight was comfortable with.
His train of thought was abruptly cut off when he bumped into Freed's wall of runes, the enchanted writing a glowing purple upon contact. He groaned as he rubbed his dully pained nose. He hissed a curse under his breath and looked around, searching for the two mages he had gone after.
Where were Terra and Lust? They should be here. Did they walk in a different direction? Why would they? His movements were silent, so they couldn't have heard him. Did they go back to the house after finding the wall of runes? He would have surely heard them making their way back if they did.
"Looking for us?"
Midnight whipped around to find a pink-haired woman standing several feet in front of him, a smirk on her face. Next to her, a blue-haired man stood with three silver keys in his hand. Midnight looked back at Terra, his eyes narrowed in a glare, and shifted his tensed body into a fighting stance.
Terra only continued to smirk, her body eerily relaxed. It unsettled Midnight, just a little. His instincts, honed from a lifetime of fighting, told him that there was something more here, something that he was missing. The smirk on the woman's face was too smug, too sure of herself, too...knowing.
Midnight continued to watch her closely, his brain working to figure out what it was that he was missing. When Terra's eyes flicked to the rune wall behind him several times, he chanced a quick look behind himself, his body's stance not changing. His eyes widened and his body froze when he saw the runes glow a purple color before disappearing entirely, clearly deactivated.
Midnight looked back at the duo in front of him. It was then that the realization hit him.
These three celestial wizards knew that they were there and what they were planning.
As soon as the realization struck him, Midnight was enveloped by flames. He screamed as his knees buckled and he fell to the ground, the flames that lapped at his exposed skin burned painfully, but didn't leave any marks.
Seemingly as quickly as they came, the flames died out and Midnight was left on his hand and knees, his eyes stinging with tears as his whole body stung, his clothes smoking a little, as well. His breathing came out in gasps as he looked around for the two celestial wizards, or for the celestial spirit who attacked him from above, but he found nobody in sight.
He cursed under his breath as he pulled himself to his feet, his slightly singed clothes rubbing against his still burning skin painfully. He was able to catch a small glimpse of blue hair disappearing in the direction that lead away from the house. Tempted to give chase, he reluctantly decided to instead make his way as quickly to the house as his pained body would allow him. He knew that he wouldn't fair well in a fight with those two, and Lucy didn't need to deal with two injured men.
He eventually made his way out of the trees and looked up to find that Lucy and Freed were standing in front of the house, seeming to be talking, while Rufus sat on the front steps, what looked like a book in his hands.
Midnight made his way to them. Upon noticing him, Lucy wrapped her arms around him in a tight embrace, causing him to grimace with a pained groan. Lucy jumped away with a slightly panicky tone, "sorry! Sorry!"
Midnight waved her off and asked, "anybody hurt?"
Freed answered, "my scuffle with one of that man's spirits will certainly leave me with a few painful bruises, but besides that, I'm unharmed. Lucy, too, isn't hurt, and Rufus, rather surprisingly, isn't injured."
Midnight looked down at the blonde man, his iconic hat now firmly on his head. A small wave of relief washed over him upon seeing that Rufus was, indeed, not injured. His attention went back to Lucy when she spoke, "Rufus found something big." There was a delighted smile on her face, something that Midnight hadn't seen in some time and, unexpectedly, missed a lot.
He looked back at Rufus and asked, "that book?"
Rufus nodded and stood up. "This is a book of Celestial Spirit Magic spells. It contains the spell that will allow a celestial wizard to take over the Celestial Spirit World."
Midnight's eyes widened at that. He stepped closer to peer at the book. "How?"
Rufus tipped the book closer to him, allowing him to read the page. When he stepped away, his curiosity partially satisfied, he looked at Lucy and asked, "what's the plan now?"
Lucy opened her mouth to speak, but was cut off by Freed, "hold on a moment." All three mages looked at the rune mage. His sea-green gaze was set on Rufus. "How did you find this book? And this spell? You were tied up in the basement, weren't you?"
Midnight nodded. "That's a good question." He looked at Rufus. "How did you?"
Rufus closed the book and tucked it under an arm. "This is going to be difficult to believe, but yesterday, Nyx told me about the spell and gave me this book."
Midnight narrowed his eyes at him. It wasn't in suspicion toward Rufus, he knew that the Sabertooth mage wouldn't do anything traitorous, rather, it was in suspicion of the fact that one of the celestial wizards they were combating had, seemingly, freely given up such important information.
It seemed that Lucy, too, was suspicious. "Are you sure that he can be trusted, Rufus?"
Rufus sighed, looking down at the ground for a few moments before he finally looked at the three of them and answered seriously, "look, I understand why you'd be hesitant to trust him, but I spoke with him about it. He came to me with this information, I didn't need to push. He was insistent about wanting to help us. Furthermore, he let me go when he saw that you were coming."
Lucy questioned, a surprised tone in her voice, "that's why I ran into you on my way to the basement? I thought that you had gotten yourself free."
Rufus shook his head. "Nyx had let me go. He wanted to speak with you. He's sworn up and down several times that he wants to help us."
Midnight couldn't believe what he was hearing. He shook his head. "You can't honestly believe his word. Have you forgotten who we're fighting?"
Rufus countered, "I understand your concerns, but what if he is being honest? If we can team up with him, then it would most definitely give us a great advantage. I'd say that it's worth the risk."
Midnight could only disagree. They didn't need to know anything about their enemy, they just needed to know what they were planning. Now that they had this book, they could more easily figure out how to stop those three celestial wizards. He looked to Lucy, prepared to urge her against the idea, but wanting to listen to her initial response first.
Lucy stared at the ground for a few moments longer before she looked back up and answered, "let's find a place to stay in the town before we make a final decision. I don't want to stay here for much longer, in case they come back."
With that, the small group set off toward the nearby town, an argument almost certainly waiting to happen.
