The gentlemen was so extremely good but HOW MUCH BETTER IT COULD HAVE BEEN IF NETFLIX COULD HAVE PAYED FOR MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY 😫 I like Bobby glass okay but the lack of Micky Pearson was a crime NOT EVEN A NAME DROP? Like how incredible would have been if Susie had been Mikey’s daughter😫 we didn’t even need to know he was her father until the end , she could have stayed as Susie glass pretending to be just another employee like UGH honestly what a waste of an opportunity.
I do love Susie so much she was my absolute favorite character of that show along side Geoff! What an icon✨
If they do continue the series I am so excited for the evolution of Eddie and Susie, what a dark romance tbh

1984 Los Angeles Olympics Torch
At the White House on May 14, 1984, Kurt Thomas, a former Olympic gymnast, passed the flame from his torch to that held by Charlotte Pearson, a member of the Special Olympics team. The ceremony was part of the 9,000-mile Olympic torch relay through 33 states and the District of Columbia. President Ronald Reagan momentarily held one of the torches while the athletes adjusted the flame of the other. The Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee gave this torch to President Reagan after the ceremony.

Gather Conference - Day 2
On Sept 15 & 16, 1400 people gathered together, making it the largest-ever Conference of LGBTQ+ Latter-day Saints and their friends, relatives, and leaders.
The speaker's messages were powerful
The day began with GENTRI The Gentleman's Trio performing. They concluded by having their pianist share his story of coming out and being upset at God, and receiving a message from God which became their song Believe.
Most people first heard of Liv Medoza Haynes when at the 2021 BYU Women's Conference she introduced herself and included the label "queer."
In a church that emphasizes being of good cheer, she points out that Jesus wept and cried, he got angry, and it's fine that we also feel our emotions.
She was wearing a shirt that said, "Keep queer children safe," and she said in choosing what we wear and in our other decisions, choosing to promote love and not hate is the only choice worth making. She also said the only thing straight about her is her hair 😂
Her most powerful statement is that "no verse of scripture is worth losing another life over"
Michael Soto is a transgender man who grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mesa, Arizona and is a leader in the U.S. LGBTQ+ rights movement. He spoke about Bridge Building. Choose to be uncomfortable, to learn, to grow, to change. God gave us agency so that we can change and be better to each other. The most important change you can make is to love yourself the way God loves you.
Ben Schilaty is well known inside the LDS Church as a gay man who is active and chooses to follow church standards. He said sharing our stories is letting people see and feel our wounds as Jesus did. When they can feel our hurts, they can share in feeling the pain and empathize with what we've been through. Ben is co-host of the podcast Questions from the Closet and their episodes which receive the most interaction are those where someone has been very vulnerable as they emotionally shared the difficult choices they had to make and the situations they were forced into as a queer person.
Ben Schilaty shared this poem by Carol Lynn Pearson that really hit home for me
I dim I dim I do not doubt If someone blew– I would go out.
I did not. I must be brighter than I thought
After 50 years of experiencing gender incongruence, Bree Borrowman came out as trans in 2019. Bree shared that the hiding, sneaking, and shame led to a loss of Spirit. Being authentic, being vulnerable, leaning into the LGBTQ spectrum brought the Spirit back into her life.
Coming out as trans has brought her great blessings. She feared she would lose everything, but God and Jesus turned out not to be the vindictive judges she thought they were. She was able to lay down her burden and has discovered and learned about herself.
Ashley Hess was a finalist on the 2019 season of American Idol. She performed 4 songs for us, each were beautiful, and each were meaningful. "To the Girl I used to Be" and "Grain of Salt" were wonderful, but my favorite was "Yet." I don't hear many songs from this perspective of ‘I'm trying, so God please don't give up on me.’
Charlie Bird shared with us that he is now married!!!! Big congratulations to him and Ryan. Charlie gave a powerful talk.
Satan's big lie is that an integral part of who we are and which we can't separate ourselves from is incompatible with God. We feel like we are only half a child of God, that we are only half worthy. These beliefs damn us and marginalize an entire demographic.
We do not have to choose between being a child of God and a member of the LGBTQ+ community. We are both.
Allison Dayton is the founder of Lift+Love and along with Ben Schilaty she conceived of the Gather Conference.
She shared a number of scripture verses about God's people in the wilderness and said we find God in the wilderness. Queer people and their families often feel like they are in the wilderness and that's where they find God.
Allison also shared that we are not supposed to be just friends, Zion means we are to be one. We are to be united, not dividing up people by who is good enough and who isn't.
We were never meant to be alone. Ever! The very first thing God called "not good" was loneliness. We can start Zion in our own homes by pulling people in who need a place to belong and welcome them
Jenny Richards & Kelly McConkie Stewart are musicians, members of the LDS church, and committed allies to the LBGTQ community.. They played the piano and cello. Their music was beautiful. At the conclusion of the conference, one of them said they wanted to buy some LDS/LGBT swag from the vendors in the lobby. I offered them some swag that isn't for sale out front. Jenny took the pin and said she is going to wear it to church the next day. Kelly took a sticker while commenting she will put it on her cello case

Jeff Case says we shouldn't focus on outcomes but on the process. For example, we can focus on the outcome of exaltation, or we can focus on the process of becoming Christlike. The process is what will lead to the the outcome we desire.
There are many processes which can lead to the outcome, but when we focus on the outcome we tend to shortcut the process. He spoke of being the father of a son who likes to play Yu-Gi-Oh! and he would tease him, like 'Aren't you too old to still play that game?' He was focused on what he wanted his son's life to look like when he grows up that he lost focus on the process. This is something his son loves so he could choose to participate as a way of spending time with his son and strengthening their relationship. Instead, by focusing on the outcome, he is indicating to his son that he may need to hide things from his dad, which, ironically, would not lead to the outcome that Jeff would want.
Tom Christofferson interviewed Darius Gray, and it felt like we were in the presence of one of the great ones as Darius shared his experience of choosing to join the LDS Church, being one of only 2 African-American students at BYU, meeting regularly with 3 apostles about how to improve life for Black members of the church, and living through the 1978 announcement and change. I nodded in agreement when Darius declared he's heard more Jesus talk at this conference than he hears in a typical LDS Sacrament Meeting.
John Gustav-Wrathel is married to his husband and chooses to attend church despite having been excommunicated many years ago. He said that when he looks back on his life, even as he was one of the most faithful people he knew, he was convinced he had no faith because he was taught that if he had enough faith that his sexual orientation would be changed. He believed the teachings of the time instead of listening to God and the Spirit and trusting his own experiences.
Steven Kapp Perry was host throughout the conference and took a moment to share a thought. You can never know that you are truly loved unless you share who you truly are.
Meghan Decker is a gay Latter-day Saint and has written 2 books. She began by sharing that life is hard and can be dark. She encourages us to share with each other what is saving our life now.
She grew up in the 1970's hearing all the harmful church teachings about queer people and it has left scars in her. She now knows that God loves her and has good intent for her.
When Meghan moved to Provo, UT, the first person in her ward to greet her was Janice Kapp Perry. Janice composed a song for the Gather Conference. She recognized the LGBTQ experience is not hers and needed help to get the lyrics right. She contacted Meghan and Meghan's words were used to create the verses of the song.
While reviewing what Meghan had written, Janice commented that the word "broken" is so strong and they should find an alternate word, but Meghan insisted that's how she and many other queer Latter-day Saints have felt. Meghan pointed out that during this day of the conference 8 of those who spoke used the word "broken" to describe how they felt.
Janice then asked, "Do you think my two boys felt that way?"
That question really hit my heart, a mom gaining insight into the pain of her queer children.
Janice wrote a song titled "All Are Alike Unto God." It was performed on the first day of the conference by Molly Flake and John Bowers. I wished I had recorded it as the words mean a lot to me. The final act of the conference before the closing prayer was for all those in attendance to sing the song. Janice has made the song available for free, you can access the sheet music on the Gather Conference website

Chapter 8
Danny Ric: Little bird-ndo, says Anna Pearson was in attendance to new year’s bash.
Was the first text Max read when he woke. It was midday, he’d gather from Lando they didn’t have to leave the room ‘til they wanted to and he’d consciously taken off all the alarms. He rolled his eyes at Daniel’s gossipy nature.
Maximus Prime: Yeah, so?
Max texted quickly throwing his phone back to bed. He’d had a nice night of sleep. It had been some months, since before the season ended that wasn’t the norm. He’d stayed with Martin and Anna after they had returned to the party sharing knowing smiles, lingering touches, not willing to part. He’d collected Lando from dance – jumping, jacket lost forever.
The soft ding made him break his memories and make a grab for the phone again, curious. He’d always been too curious for his own good.
Danny Ric: No one knew where you BOTH were at 12.
Danny continues, adding memes of intrigue and eyebrow wiggling. Max feels the heat returning to his whole face, remembering their unplanned encounter. Fuck. He’d felt a bit regretful when he’d reached the empty hotel room, they hadn’t had the time to talk about anything when Martin found them little after they had rejoined the party.
Maximus Prime: Yeah, so?
Max insists, knowing stubbornness is his strong suit for this. Fuck Lando. Max’d thought he’d be too drunk to notice they’d been gone. He hadn’t said anything when they went up for the party, Lando too trashed to find his room alone.
Danny Ric: You forget my friend who was the one who covered for you back in 2019.
Danny continues then sends a photo. It’s the front page of some newspaper he doesn’t recognize. Anna arriving to the party, arm up waving at the camaras.  Rachel and Mikah following her closely from behind. She looks beautiful as usual, naturally poised, people in the background staring at her in awe. It looks like a perfume add.
Then without any other written message in between comes the second photo, of her exiting the party a drink in hand, her other arm wrapped around Rachel, coat open flapping behind her. She’s grinning widely to her friend, clearly not aware there’s a camara at work.
Danny Ric: Find the differences.
Danny adds, knowing Max too well to expect any quick comment. At first Max thinks Danny is only talking about how much happier she looks in the second photo, perhaps her missing reds, and her hair is much curlier. All to be expected after a new year’s party. Perhaps something does settle on his stomach hoping a portion of that smile might be because of him. Then he reads the article’s title, that has been purposely included: “A party worth losing your stockings over”.
Fuck. He thinks once again. Knowing Danny like he does, the Australian had probably been fishing and didn’t know he’d caught a whale.
Danny Ric: have you been naughty Verstappen?
Max has to be thankful there are no photos of Lando or himself that his PR team sees important to share with him. If there were, his first message in the morning most definitely would be from Patricia – the head PR liaison.
He’s tempted not to respond, but at the end he knows Danny knows him. There’s no sense in lying as he knows Dani won’t be blabbering to the press, nor to anyone else that is not already familiar with Max and Anna’s past.
Maximus Prime: fuck you.
It’s as good as a confirmation as the Australian will get. He adds a hand flipping a finger to which Danny responds with a selfie grinning widely. That will do for the rest of the day, he thinks.
Danny Ric: so proud of you.
He glances back at the second photo. Max knows the missing stockings were in the insides of his jacket. He’d planned to get them clean but now he doesn’t know if they were worth the trouble. An idea pops into the dutch driver’s head. He tries to dismiss it but once again he opens Danny’s conversation, knowing he can fight it but at the end it’ll be better to ask Danny.
Maximus Prime: can you get me her telephone?
Fuck. Max thinks again, knowing Dan will be having a field day.
Danny Ric: you erased it?
Maximus Prime: No.
Danny Ric: then you already have it, she hasn’t changed it.
He hadn’t erased it but he had changed her name. It had been at the top of his contact list and he’d changed it so it would stop popping every time he had to search something over it.
He opens the conversation bubble, a knot on his stomach when he reads the last texts she sent him, still there saved by some weird miracle.
Annie P: I think we’ll be there after the last practice.
Annie P: Long bath, room service, you and me?
Annie P: See you soon champ! Be careful!
For a moment, he’s discouraged from writing her, past history making its way to the present. He tried a couple of greetings before erasing them. He felt like a stupid teen again. Max decided to take a shower and maybe ask for breakfast or find Lando.
It was between these tasks he wrote the first thing he thought, waited a second for the message to pass through – what if she blocked him?-  and when the double check appeared, he quickly hid his phone inside his pocket before knocking on Lando’s door.
---
Anna woke early as usual. She tried meditation but her mind would not quiet down. When she went downstairs, she found Mikah sleeping loudly at the same couch she had left him with a glass of water. Rachel was nowhere to be found downstairs, which was expected. Anna tried making as little noise as she could as she made coffee and left with a thick cape for the cold deck outside. Her black lab Susie following her eagerly, throwing herself at the little snow that still covered part of the long yard.
There was no one outside, most of the staff had been given the day off. Only security remained.
Susie rolled around the snow patch getting wet quickly.
“Suz!” She called and the dog came excitedly, brushing her mane on her pj bottoms. “Aren’t you a happy little princess?” she cooed as the dog continued to brush her legs as she moved from one side to the other. She let her play while she drank the big cup of steaming coffee.
She sat at the only dry deck chair, taking her time before checking her phone. There were many texts congratulating the new year, most coming after she went to bed and the rest of the world welcomed it.
Lorena S: did you guys have fun at least?
Her lawyer wrote after sending her one of the many versions of her photo leaving the party stocking less.
APea: I think that’s evident XD
Lorena S: then don’t worry, we’ll take care of it. I will need to schedule a call for tomorrow morning if it’s ok.
APea: something wrong? We can talk now if you want.
Lorena S: No, don’t worry. Just technicalities.
Anna knows Lorena never calls her with technicalities, usually her team is in charge of any logistic that has to be summoned. She doesn’t insist, appreciating the one day break she gets from her duties. She trusts Lorena to know how much a problem can wait before it explodes.
That’s when another message reaches her phone.
Maxie: you know what’s also good at this hotel?
She would have spat her coffee if she’d been drinking it. Her brain had been half occupied by Max Verstappen from the moment he had kissed her. She’d debated whether she should wait to contact him, but he’d won again.
Annie P: sorry, who is this?
She erases before he sees it.
Annie P: the beds?
She leaves her phone in one of the long pockets of her cape, when Suz chooses to come back to her, asking her for her breakfast with her nose half nuzzling, half pushing her inside. Anna leaves her out to search for her towels to dry her as much as she can, before preparing the dog’s breakfast.
With her second cup of coffee she takes a pair of scones to the oven. She hears the rhythmic sound of Mikah’s snoring, confirming nothing had changed inside.
Maxie: it’s very rude to erase messages, you know?
Annie P: curiosity killed the cat, you know?
Maxie: it sounds like you are deflecting
Annie P: it’s you who’s not answering
He takes a few minutes to answer.
Maxie: the pillows
And somehow, she knows he chickened out from answering what he first thought.
Annie P: better than the wonderful breakfast buffet?
A picture of scrambled eggs with bacon comes back, with Lando sleeping over his plate.
Annie P: is he alive?
Maxie: I’ll check after I finish my eggs.
Annie P: priorities well stablished.
Suz comes to get her once she finishes eating, making her happy full belly dance. She takes a small video of Suz and sends it back to him.
Maxie: is that you after breakfast?
Annie P: my soul animal represents me.
Maxie: that she does.
Annie P: how do you know it’s a she?
Maxie: I know you and she probably has human name.
It doesn’t feel as weird as she thinks that after all this time, he still does.
Annie P: Susie, Suzette, Suz.
Maxie: Susane when she breaks something?
Annie P: Susana Carolina. She’s good though, almost never have to use it.
Maxie: right, Latin-American traditions and all.
Annie P: Yup. Are you staying the whole day there?
Maxie: have no idea, Lando was the thinking machine. He seems to be coming back to consciousness. Brb.
Scones are gone from her plate. She keeps her phone in silence, to avoid falling into staring at it for his next text. She puts away her plate and cup. Goes to her desk to find what she left ready the day before. Usually for the first of January she likes to begin a new notebook for her thoughts, lyrics and writing exercises.
She smells the new notebook, taking her black pen to write the date on the front.
It comes back to her. It’s not new, but something she thinks she wrote once before.
“Please don’t ever become a stranger, whose laugh I could recognize, anywhere,” she sings two, three, ten times changing tunes ‘til one comes better than the others. Temptation is strong. She returns to the living room, turns on the fire, tucks Mikah under the blanquet that fell to the ground. She sits nearby at the piano.
She plays softly the piano, not wanting to wake Mikah up. He’s always been a heavy sleeper and the song’s tune is not too loud. She repeats and repeats, stopping to catch in her note book what she likes.
She remembers to record herself, like Mikah tells her to do and that’s when she finds again unread messages that makes her heart flip over.
Maxie: alive and showered, my duty here is done.
Maxie: we’re on our way back to London.
Maxie: tomorrow I should go back to Monaco.
Maxie: are you alive?
Annie P: I am.
Annie P: should = will?
Her fingers play nervously the notes she had played before, but her mind is now focused on her screen returning to life. The notes escape her, she stops the recording.
Maxie: what?
Annie P: you should return to Monaco, is it negotiable?
Maxie: Victoria and mom are coming with the kids.
Annie P: kids?
Maxie: Luka and Lio, Victoria’s.
Annie P: uncle Maxie?
Maxie: … uncle Max.
Annie P: uncle Maxie!

Common Dreams
April 7, 2023
Progressives in the U.S. Congress reacted with outrage Thursday after the Republican-dominated Tennessee House voted to expel two lawmakers who joined protesters in demanding gun control legislation during a demonstration inside the state Capitol last week.
"This is fascism," said Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.). "Expelling your political opponents for demanding action on gun violence when children are dying is disgusting."
Rep. Summer Lee (D-Pa.) similarly called the expulsion of state Democratic Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson "straight-up fascism in its ugliest, most racist form." Jones and Pearson are both Black; a vote to expel their colleague Rep. Gloria Johnson, who is white, fell short.
"There is no justification for ousting two legislators who were protesting with and for their constituents," Lee said in a statement. "That two Black men were expelled for standing up against the murder of children—but not their white counterpart—says it all. People are dying because Republicans want to put politics over the lives of the people they represent. They ask for safety for themselves, but not for school children, and they'll sacrifice the lives of our loved ones for their lobbyists."
"Now is not the time to be on the sidelines," Lee added. "We better fight back before it's too late."
Thursday's expulsion votes, held as furious demonstrators gathered inside the Capitol to protest the move, came less than two weeks after a mass shooting at a school in Nashville left three young children and three adults dead.
The expulsion resolutions were led by Republican Reps. Bud Hulsey, Gino Bulso, and Andrew Farmer, fervent opponents of gun control. Hulsey and Farmer have voted to further weaken Tennessee's firearm regulations on a number of occasions in recent years, earning them high marks from the National Rifle Association.
"This is fascism, full stop," Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) tweeted following Thursday's votes. "MAGA Republicans are no longer content with inaction on gun violence—instead of thoughts and prayers, they want to silence and expel politicians who speak up to protect children. I vehemently condemn this racist, undemocratic assault on freedom of speech."
"Republicans may think they won today in Tennessee, but their fascism is only further radicalizing and awakening an earthquake of young people."
Tennessee Republicans—who likened the peaceful Capitol protests in the wake of the shooting to an "insurrection"—justified the removal of Jones and Pearson as a defense of decorum. Last week, Jones, Pearson, and Johnson took to the podium on the state House floor without recognition to show solidarity with those demanding legislative action in response to the massacre in Nashville—the 129th mass shooting in the U.S. this year.
But the claim that the expulsions were necessary to protect chamber norms was widely rejected as a cover for authoritarian political retribution, particularly given Tennessee Republicans' past refusal to remove lawmakers accused of sexual misconduct and other wrongdoing.
"For years, one of your colleagues, an admitted child molester, sat in this chamber—no expulsion," Jones said in a floor speech on Thursday, referring to former Republican state Rep. David Byrd.
Johnson filed resolutions to expel Byrd in 2019 and 2020, but the GOP-controlled chamber declined to act. Byrd went on to win reelection in 2020.
"We had a former speaker sit in this chamber who is now under federal investigation—no expulsion," Jones said in his speech. "We have a member still under federal investigation—no expulsion. We had a member pee in another member's chair, in this chamber—no expulsion. In fact, they're in leadership, in the governor's administration."
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) joined her fellow House progressives in decrying the Tennessee House's actions and predicted the expulsions will only galvanize youth activism.
"Republicans may think they won today in Tennessee, but their fascism is only further radicalizing and awakening an earthquake of young people, both in the South and across the nation," the New York Democrat wrote on social media.
"If you thought youth organizing was strong," she added, "just wait for what's coming."

The White Label Auction in Aid of The BRIT Trust – the world’s only known auction of “white label” test pressings – takes place next week on Tuesday, 6th June 2023. This year it will have more than 200 lots of highly collectible ‘white-label’ test pressings – the most offered in the four editions of the auction to date since it began in 2019.
The online/on-site auction is once again being hosted by music memorabilia and vinyl records specialists Omega Auctions from their Newton-Le-Willows (Greater Manchester) base. The full catalogue can be accessed here.
Fans and collectors can bid from a huge selection of white label test pressings that rarely come to market, with some even signed by the artists such as The Cure, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, New Order, and Wilko Johnson.
The UK’s record labels led by Universal Music UK, who founded the event with the BPI, along with BMG, Domino Recordings, Cherry Red, Sony Music Entertainment UK, Warner Records and others, each year join forces to curate a broad selection of white label auction lots to raise funds for the vital work of music industry charity The BRIT Trust – which promotes education and wellbeing through music and the creative arts to support causes that include the BRIT School and Nordoff and Robbins.
In January the BPI reported that vinyl albums had recorded a 15th year of consecutive growth in the UK, with over 5.5m LPs purchased in 2022. This rising demand for vinyl has in turn resulted in a growing archive of white label test pressings – so called because there is no sleeve artwork at this early stage – which record labels produce ahead of the full release of an album to ensure its audio quality. With only a handful produced, these first-off-the-press copies are snapped up by collectors on the rare occasions they become available, as evidenced by the huge interest in the three White Labels Auctions to date, which between them have raised around £100,000.
