God, man. Season 2 of SiIvaGunner was so cool.

And like, I know that that's what I *always* say when I'm writing about a Season 2 rip, in everything from Patched Plains Fusion Collab to Rippin'! Mashin'! High Quality Grand Prix and the SilvaGunner: Rebooted 1st Anniversary event...but I can't help it! There was just such an energy of excitement, of pure joy permeating throughout the entire season - excitement not just for the Christmas Comeback Crisis, but for how SiIvaGunner was *actually* back, firing on all cylinders. The rips were referencing events we were already nostalgic over, althewhile introducing new jokes in clever, memorable ways - the Inspector Gadget takeover and Become as Gadget will forever stick with me as one of the most engrossing events the channel has ever done.

To put it one way...in my (nostalgia-blinded) eyes, Season 2 was the most "unified" the channel ever felt. We were all invested in every little corner of the channel's ongoings, we were all aware of the origins of and meaning of all the active jokes...that kind of investment and attachment to all the featured jokes felt sort of like if Season 4 Episode 2's Summer Fes had lasted for an entire Season! And while we've certainly got a far wider, far more ambitious output of rips in Season 5 onward in particular, it was that feeling of unification that made rips like ULTRA S+G hit like fucking crazy.

The thing you'll immediately notice when clicking on ULTRA S+G is, of course, the visuals, a full-length parody of the visuals featured in the original ULTRA B+K music video, completely reimagined to feature several of SiIva's own memes from Season 2. The visuals are, of course, in sync with the main joke of the rip, in being a huge meme medley of various sources, most replacing the original song's "bass" and "kick" vocal samples. The resulting sound hits you like several trains throughout the rip, be it the opening of "DEE-DEE-DEE-DEE-DEE ; KAY-KAY-KAY-KAY-KAY!!", the beat-dropping "Miney Crafta"s and "GRAND DAD"s, the midsection covered by the good ol' PSY samples a la One Winged PSYcho - V.S. Sepsyrop...and while all that is happening, you're met with visuals that go absolutely above and beyond just parodying the original. It has little references to the events of Season 1, such as the infamous Bean or the Mr. Rental storyline of Mr. Rental [B Side] ~ Out of Options...and, hey - an animation of The Voice Inside Your Head!! What ULTRA S+G conveys above all else is the extent of the journey we had all been on over the course of almost two years, a hype-beyond-belief shot directly into the arm of everything SiIvaGunner embodies.

Kirbio's output on the channel is impressive in its sheer scope, and recently of note arranged one of Season 1's greatest in the form of Return to Collision Clouds. Its likely coincidental, but I enjoy how both that arrangement as late in as Season 7, as well as ULTRA S+G, manage to convey that feeling of the long journey the channel's been on in entirely different ways: Return to Collision Clouds has a sentimental feel to it, wheras ULTRA S+G may as well be hype incarnate. An explosive beginning to the end of Season 2, its the kind of rip that I cannot stop returning to for the memories alone - helped, of course, by the rip itself being an incredible watch and listen.

Agust D Tour 230625 : Surprise Appearance

An emotional roller coaster brought about by an unexpected guest.

June 26, 2023 (5:13PM)

Only a day after bringing solo artist PSY to the stage in order to perform their song 'That That', rapper Agust D announced another guest appearance. Many expected the artist to be a member of boy group BTS and were quite taken aback when ATEEZ vocalist Himari stepped on stage to perform their recently released single 'Pray'.

With the artist's group being in the midst of promoting their comeback album 'The World Ep.2 : Outlaw' her schedule seems to be quite busy yet she pushed herself to perform alongside her adoptive brother. Not only did the audience consist of the rapper's fans but it so happens that BTS members Jimin, Jungkook and V were present that day along with her eight group members who came in support of their maknae, placing a heavy spotlight on the young star.

While ATEEZ is well known for their powerful stage presence, it shocked many that the vocalist was able to put on such a strong rap performance throughout the setlist. Although it did serve as a reminder that despite her soft demeanor, she has well earned her place in the group's 'demon line'. The silky voice fans had grown enamored with showed impressive flexibility in its ability to endure switches in flows as well as Agust D's famous growling delivery.

Though their live vocals proved to be impressive it was their bond and pain that was shared to all those in the stadium that made this a truly unforgettable concert. The audience was almost silent during their set as if completely immersed in the story told through the verses, only to erupt in loud cheers barely a moment after the last note. Their duo performance's setlist included: Snooze, Confessions and Hikikomori (from their single) as well as Burn it, People Pt.2 and so far away.

During their title track 'Snooze' her hand would not leave the safety of her brother's and it was only whilst singing the lyrics "다 괜찮아질 거야" that the song's emotion finally got the better of her. Unable to keep going whilst sobbing she went to hide herself in his arms, making many attendees swoon at the unconditional love share between the two as well as the rapper's gummy smile breaking through whilst he gently held her. The several warm embraces from their set are sure to be stored away in many fans' camera rolls for a very long time.

After six performances packed in both emotions and energy, the two began walking around the stage to greet fans and as the younger idol played around, the rapper was caught looking at her with what looked to be tears in his eyes. It was explained in a live later that night as being pure pride in seeing that his sister was no longer the child he remembered, which also flooded him with sadness. It has become clear that these artists have a deep relationship we could fawn over without ever getting tired of it.

It seems as though we can have high hopes for the maknae's future endeavors as she is the first member of her group to have a solo project such as this. ATEEZ Captain, Hongjoong, sent out a twitter update containing a picture of the whole group together after Himari had joined them in the stands to finish watching the concert which contained a caption saying : "So proud of our little tiger ! You have faced so many obstacles since our debut yet found the strength to push through and ended up creating such a beautiful single ❤ Not to mention how mesmerizing your performance was. Forever our beautiful little star"

That same night a few hours after the concert the tiger in question sent a message to ATEEZ's b.stage platform saying : "I am very grateful to all of those who came to tonight's show and wanted to say a special thank you to my members. Without them I would not be where I am today as they are the ones who gave me the strength to continue, they were the ones who showered me with love, care and support throughout the years we have been together. They taught me how to better my dancing, to strengthen my vocals, to rap and most importantly they have shown me what it feels like when friends love you from the bottom of their hearts all the way to the ends of the Earth. They have made me unbelievably happy through the darkest of times and held my hand every step of the way. Please continue to hold my hand, and thank you again. I love you from the deepest parts of my soul ❤"

She also extended her thanks to rapper Agust D in a separate post that read : "To Yoongi-oppa : Tonight was truly wonderful because I got to perform alongside you for the first time, like you promised the day of your debut. From my very first audition you have supported me tirelessly, called me to make sure I was alright, kept up with our schedule just to send me encouraging texts before our stages and took me under your care when I had to move away. Thank you for giving me such a wonderful opportunity and for every single moment we shared together even with busy schedules. Please stay healthy and be safe during the rest of your tour. I hope we see each other very soon. I love you ❤"

Unbeknownst to the younger idol, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors captain, Min Hanzo attended his little sister's first solo stage and flooded his fans with numerous photos as well as videos of her performance. He then shared a photo of the two backstage with the caption : "Words cannot describe how proud I am of you. It's crazy to me just how fast you grew up my little Hima. Well you're not so little now it seems. I truly am speechless and I regret not being able to tell you the extent of my pride but please know this. The universe blessed me by making you my sister, by giving me such a bright sun to light up my days in this life. Forever and I always I will love you ❤️🌞."

I am late to the party but you have to admit, it’s been quite the whirlwind following June 13th’s Festa Dinner revelations. And I am sorry to be visiting a topic that’s maybe been talked to death. Sometimes my brain doesn’t let go of things in a timely manner. Sorry!

I think the release of the crushingly expensive collector’s edition of PROOF triggers me to relive that feeling I had immediately following the dinner.

After processing a few months now I have something to say about the song Yet To Come.

It took me a while to put the song in rotation on my playlists. I could not watch the song’s video very much after the premier. It took me a while to watch the music show performances they did immediately following Festa. I was that heartbroken... I could not make myself watch those music show performances for at least two or three weeks. They still make my heart drop because the expressions on their faces, knowing those were their last moments performing in front of Army for a long time [feels my heart stutter again]. I cannot fathom what the members felt knowing they were stepping away from performing in front of us.

Now I am ready to talk about this lyric: “back to square one”

I posted a few days ago about hoping BLACKPINK did well with their new comeback and I 100% meant it. I am not a fan of theirs and literally know nothing about their music and from what little I’ve heard and seen, it is not something I really connect with. I’ve seen the fan war crap on Twitter. It is what it is...it’s Twitter after all...and the farce of the VMAs last night was embarrassing.

But from what I understand, BlackPink was away for a long time and now they are putting out new music, so good for them and their fans. Their fans seem just as rancorous as Army when it comes to our loyalty. Their song skyrocketed on YouTube and was at the top of the iTunes chart until 2-year old Dynamite dethroned it.

My point is, Blackpink’s fans were waiting a long time for this come back.

Just like we are waiting for the day BTS will come back with new group music.

Another Korean artist whose fan base stuck around: PSY.

We really need to thank PSY because in my mind, as far as the western music market goes, HE is the one who paved the way. HE was the first Korean artist I heard played on mainstream radio with Gangnam Style. He brought Kpop to the world. That’s my opinion because that was MY first exposure to Kpop before I even know what Kpop was.

And then PSY was away for a while being a music industry exec and then he came back with That That with SUGA and that song is a smash and he seems to be very beloved in Korea and even across the world because that song did well and is still doing well.

My point in all this is, it made me start thinking about BTS and the lyrics of Yet To Come. I interpret the song as “we’ll be back at some point in the future, the past was really great but when we come back we know we will be more ourselves and starting from scratch.”

Now I get it.

Yes, as far as we know at the time of this post, the military obligation will be something they will complete in whatever way it ends up being whether one at a time or in groups or whatever, and supposedly beginning at the end of this year with Jin. They may be gone away for quite a while. We don’t know.

They are saying in those lyrics that they will have to start from scratch with their more grown selves, their more mature outlooks on life, their statements about whatever it is they want to tackle in their song lyrics. And the ever-present spectre of wondering if their fans will still be around. Back to square one.

I don’t think they understand that Army are still going to be here just like Blackpink’s and Psy’s fans were for them. There won’t be that much they’ll have build back up in that regard.

Armys, be prepared, we must be strong for however long it takes them to get back and embrace and support everything each individual member gives us/has given us in the meantime as solo work.

A bittersweet feeling lingered because I was expecting a tour or at least a few more concerts this year, but I am also so grateful for all the music, appearances and content we’ve received since.

Now that we know there will be a super-mega concert in October, the bittersweetness has mostly faded away. Run BTS Special Telepathy episodes also helped sweep that lingering feeling away as well.

If they are so inclined, maybe they will give us more information about what’s in store for their future. We may have another solo album dropped by October or at least know which one is coming next.

It’s just that the PROOF collector’s edition feels like the heavy vault door from the PROOF concept photos...the vault door closing with a deep and dense resonance. Makes my heart tremble a little however, knowing they had the freedom to take this direction means the world to me.

just a ramble post abt how much i love ateez while also showering them in compliments

sooooo. i am still processing the mama awards.

i just think that atinys are allowed to have giant egos bc ateez literally outdo themselves every single comeback and are always doing things that are so uniquely them and that other groups just couldn't replicate. they always push themselves to be even bigger and better performers... they are always experimenting with their music and constantly upping the anti when it comes to elaborate, large scale live stages and every comeback is somehow even more incredible than the last. their stage presence is UNMATCHED. everything from their energy to their facial expressions pulls EVERYONE in like a magnet. other idol groups praise, them non-fans praise, them literal icons like psy praise them and it's all deserved!!! they are just so beyond amazing. every positive adjective that I can think of to describe ateez's performance skills are all understatements. they are just so phenomenal. mediocre or average are words that are NOT in ateez's vocabulary. can't think of a single bad ateez stage or a single album that I don't like everything ateez put out is just masterful. that is whay dedication to one's craft looks like. ateez are and always will be the moment. like... THAT'S how you open up an award show. I could honestly go on and on. ateez are just pure excellence.

I have a feeling this album will be their best yet. crazy form will be (and already is) legendary. I wish nothing but success for ateez during this era. they deserve all the achievements and awards and so much more. ateez world domination is upon us and I am HERE for it.

and like... not one but TWO mama awards bagged?? the end of 2023 is already going amazingly for ateez and they haven't even had their official comeback yet. the way they commanded that stage and had everybody so fucking hype over an UNRELEASED TRACK like no one else is doing it like them. i always say this but man ateez are in a league of their own. their only competition is themselves. they are constantly raising the bar and no matter where they are in the world, they will always stand out. their commitment to making music that only they can make and not following trends but rather going with an established sound also makes me love them even more. it's never boring stanning them because i know whatever i'm gonna get is gonna blow my already sky high expectations for them out the damn water. i have so much pride as an atiny. like i fucking love saying that i stan ateez because YES I FUCKING DO!! I STAN ATEEZ!!

it's been a long time since i felt this much passion for a group. when i tuned into the mama awards at 3am i literally was wide awake, my heart was racing, and my dramatic ass almost burst into tears after they finished performing because at that moment i had a revelation -- that revelation being that i can always trust ateez to be the best.

congratulations to ateez. they deserve all the good things coming their way. i love them so much and i love being an atiny.

Now imagine my surprise to see BlackSwan put out one of the best songs of the year. This is something Doja Cat could have released a few years ago, and her songs aged really well. This is solid and the group's best track yet, and hey, you know never know who the next 50/50 in k-pop is.

Hwasa "I love my body"

MAMAMOO's Hwasa is under Psy's label now and changed up her style accordingly. I actually liked the song (60's swing vibes), until the pre-chorus hit. There are not enough melodies and no dynamic in any of the verses, it's also simply too short to build up to anything. We got a forgettable beat with an empowering message, only the music video is filled with beautiful, skinny girls, so even in that regard, Hwasa and P-Nation failed at messaging.

Lee Chaeyeon "Let's Dance"

"Knock Knock" did pretty well, so Chaeyeon got an early comeback, but the song is not as good as "KK". It's a little too hype for me, not in a good way, it's just too loud and that "let's dadadadada-dance" is annoying after a while. The bridge is terrible too, I actually would have not minded this song only being 2 minutes long.

Damn I fell for your intellectual and critical opinionated thoughts like it's rare to find such ppl in beeteeyess fandom specially on twt where you can find ppl praising them for breathing oxygen and getting thousands of likes; I feel kpop in general seems that way like yeah it's kinda overrated tho, there are many ppl more talented or with good personality than kpop idols but these ppl are on limelight and ofcourse their fans would hype the shit out of them. I wonder how kpop grew like was it after getting to know BTS or they had intl fans even before. Like what makes kpop special other than many talents in whole world I always had these thoughts even for BTS for that matter.

There are several things that I need to address here, but first, I'll answer your question. K-Pop has had international fans way before BTS arrived on the scene. Other groups were on American shows, held concerts throughout Asia and Europe, let's not forget Psy and his Gangnam Style, a song that everyone knew back then. K-Pop did not start with BTS, nor will it end. An entire industry and its potential success does not depend solely on one group. As much as Army likes to think that only BTS is relevant in K-Pop, that's not true and it's actually a disservice to the group to be taken so much out of context, to have their musical influences ignored or their own influence seen as others trying to copy or profit from the success they had. It is also true that BTS opened the door to K-Pop for fans that later on decided to expand their horizon and see what else is there. That's a great thing. And it happened because the group is certainly more mainstream and it's easy to get swept up in all of it, from music, to other derivative media content.

As to your comparison to other talented people (which you haven't mentioned, so it's difficult for me to know exactly who you are reffering to), I think it's really unfair. Just because K-Pop is popular, it doesn't mean talented people do not come out of it. It's a bit absurd to see it that way. And I think it also diminishes what the genre/industry is trying to produce. From an artistic point of view, it's easily comparable to a Broadway production (there is at least one paper written on this particular comparison) because K-Pop produces an intricate performance. Just think of the many concepts that each group has for their comeback. And how that concept then influences the music, the choreography, the costumes, the story they tell. There's a lot of effort that goes into that and a lot of work and talent as well. As much as there are issues within this industry (as in any other), I believe we shouldn't easily dismiss the novelty it brings on the world stage at this moment in pop culture.
