The topic of RetroAchievements came up, we browsed the list of games out of curiosity.

While none of my ROM hacks are supported, plenty I've been involved in are there.

Technically S3 & Amy counts but that was just a small Hardware compatability related hotfix.

As for why my works aren't there? Probably because they aren't noteworthy enough to have an interested party dedicated to make achievements for them (or noteworthy enough to even be aknowledged on the site, there's more games listed then there are achievements for them).

Hell, even Retro doesn't have any of them, just small footnotes for misc. credits on more noteworthy projects.

Just finished EarthBound again, this time running it on RetroArch with RetroAchievements! Such a fun way to re-experience this game, easily still in my top 5 games of all time! (2 of those 5 are Mother games, so you can see where my priorities lie, ahaha!)

Do you use RetroAchievements?

I've thought about it, but no. I might some day, though, but I'm so tired of having to make logins for weird dumb gaming stuff. Maybe it's a sign I'm an old man but I really miss the days when games didn't open with account linking and a 20 page EULA that you have to scroll to the end of.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered was $7 on the Switch the other day, so I bought it, and it seems to specifically wait until you've played the game a little bit before it nags you to link your Origin account. Which begs the question: does it really need that Origin account? So I canceled out and kept playing the game without it.

It's nice that they let you do that, but it would be nicer if they didn't nag you at all.

Retro Achievements sounds like it could be fun, but just enough work that I've never bothered signing up. I also imagine only a handful of games for each platform have good, balanced, logical achievements, too.

you ever play a game for the first time in years and realize that it wasn’t just that you were bad at it, but the games controls were also really fucked up?

#playing lego star wars on ps2 #cuz the emulator just got retroachievements support #and this game is so much easier to control when i'm not trying to do it on a keyboard #with arrow keys to move and like jkl to do things #was bad #esp the vehicles

Full title: "My Time As a Jr. Dev (And How It Changed How I See RetroAchievements)"

I rarely let the actions of one person get under my skin like this, but after being aggressively repremanded for expressing my dissatisfaction over a choice I made concerning an achievement set I was working on, followed by being verbally abused, forcibly removed from said set, and being kicked out of the Jr. Devs for expressing my distaste for the way this person conducted themselves, presumably by the person I was engaging with… well… I don't think it would be entirely inappropriate to say that I've had quite enough.
