RogerRouge & Spooky Prompts #15, You just resurrected a Raptor didnt you?

Roger is fairly sure that Rayleigh is going to die if he keeps laughing this hard, but he’s not as worried about that as he is about whatever the hell Rouge has done in the storage room that she called her lab, even if he can see what exactly it is she has done as it fails to hide behind her.

“Did you resurrect a raptor?” Roger asks finally, when Rouge refuses to speak.

“I did,” Rouge agrees brightly, scratching under the chin of the beast at her back, Roger’s sanity is going to vanish if it starts purring. “I’ve had the pieces for a while, but there’s just never been a good time to summon one up, you know?”

“Rouge, darling, raptors are carnivores.”

Rouge hums happily, “That they are.”

“Sweetheart, that means they eat meat,” Roger tries again, kicking Rayleigh in the stomach to shut him up. This is supposed to be Rayleigh’s job, Roger’s never been good at being reasonable. “We are meat.”

“It’s fine. If Patches eats anyone, I’ll just resurrect them and it’ll be fine. Besides, it’s not like I’m going to keep Patches for long. Just a year or two.”

Roger closes his eyes and counts down from ten, like his mother had always done when Roger had been at his most stubborn, “Love of my life, I don’t think you’re listening to what I’m saying.”

“You’re not exactly making much sense, dear.”

“Rouge, honey, we can’t keep a raptor on the ship. We don’t have the space for one. Let alone enough food to keep him fed. What are we supposed to do to keep him from attacking one of the cabin boys? Buggy and Shanks can both get annoying at times.”

Rouge sighs, “I suppose that I should make sure the boys are safe. After all, while violence is a great way to learn, Patches isn’t going to let them have a second chance. Perhaps,” she pauses, finger tapping against her chin in thought. “I’ll shrink him.”

“What?”

“Make him smaller. Patches can’t exactly hurt anyone if he’s not this big. Maybe hand sized?” Rouge hums thoughtfully, her eyes glittering excitedly. “I have work to do, make sure that you eat dinner tonight, dear.”

Roger stares at the door slamming closed on his face, Rouge’s lipgloss smeared on his cheek from a quick kiss, and drops his head into his hands, “fuck.”

The beach didn’t have a lot of places to hide. At least not enough to properly follow his angel. But he was not anything if not persistent, and never let it be said that the Pirate King gave up when facing the first hurdle.

He made lemonade with the lemons he had.

Roger peered through a pair of binoculars from where he was crouching on one large beach umbrella over a well set up a nice little site for a fun day in the sun

The owners had long ago ran away screaming when he landed on top of it- something to do with “please doesn’t kill us, Pirate King”? who even understood the civilians. Thier lives were too boring- and now he was able to reach down, to the cooler they happen to leave behind and get a nice cold cola while he watched his son walk along the beach.

His little angel was on a date. Walking on either side of him were two blond men, each holding one of Ace’s hand.

One his childhood friend- which Roger didn’t really approve of simply for the fact Sabo had too much of a rebellious streak and could talk Ace into anything. The other, his friend from a rival crew- which Roger extremely didn’t approve of. Marco was not only on a rival crew, he was also really tall.

Taller then Roger. The fiend.

“Stupid tall freak. Stop whispering into Ace’s ear and get away from the water. You dumb nugget, you’re a fruit user!” Roger hissed under his breath watching Ace giggle by whatever Marco told him.

He took a sip of the cola through a straw, angerly chewing on the plastic when he was done.

Both were blushing a healthy red hue, Ace’s eyes sparkling just a little. It would be enduring- not that he approved of those two young men! No one was good enough for Ace!- had it not be happening where Ace’s life could be in danger.

Ace was standing dangerously close to the ocean, his feet getting wet with the tide. Not safe. NOT SAFE!

“It’s fine. Sabo will do something” Roger told himself, trying to ease his worry. Sabo was many things but out of all the friends Ace has ever made, he is the one that can talk some sense into his child the most.

When he wasn’t trying to talk Ace into a fight that is. Or a revolution. That kid was always trying to scout.

Sabo, like he hoped, perked up when the water splashed him a little too hard. He was the one closest to the ocean, as the only non-fruit user in the trio and so was now going to suggest they move-

Roger watched Sabo fake stumble into Ace sending them both into Marco’s legs. With the added weight, Marco was unable to keep his footing falling backward, the younger men close behind. The three end up on the sand floor, Sabo had purposely controlled his landing so he could have Ace squished between them laughing as he rubs his face into Ace’s hair.

Marco chooses that moment to kiss an equally amused Ace, who had been roaring with laughter the second Sabo was “Knocked over” by the tide.

The tide which was now rising.

“NOT SAFE! THAT’S IT!” He wasn’t going to just sit there while the two incompetent men nearly got his son killed. Sure Ace would be upset but a living unhappy son was better than a dead one.

Roger jerked from his hiding spot, threw the binoculars on the floor, jumped off the umbrella and came face to face with his stern wife.

For a moment Roger was distracted with her new bathing suit, a fine soft green one piece that modestly covered her. Her strawberry hair done up in a bun, a few strands falling out and framing her face, made her look graceful somehow, making Roger come up short.

No matter how many years had gone by, Rouge was still the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.

“Gol D. Roger what do you think you’re doing?” Rouge demanded one of her foot tapping on the ground. A sure fired sign his wife was upset.

Alright. Time to grovel

“Honey, Sweetie, Love of my Life, I’m not doing anything. I’m simply enjoying the beach just like you said to. Any man would if such a beautiful lady accompanied him, and did I mention that I set up a nice little spot for just the two of us? Beacuse I did. Even have a nice beach towel for you.” He gestured to the items in the beach site, sweating just a tiny bit.

Rouge gave the blue towel laying on the ground a look that could make it shrink smaller if it was able to think badly about itself. Roger wishes he was a towel when she returns her gaze to him.

Then she smiled. Not the special smile she saved for him, not the kind warm motherly smile she had for Ace and Luffy. Not even the friendly smile she handed out to people on the street, beacuse Rouge was nothing if not polite.

No. She was smiling the kind of smile she used to wear as a warmonger back in her days of mercenary work. When she first met Roger she was wearing the same one, after she was able to best him in battle.

Pirate King or not, Roger still saw that smile in his nightmares.

“Oh really Honey,” She said, voice sweet like caramel, a hint of warning in the tone “Then you weren’t going to bother Ace while he’s on a date were you? After all, I made it very clear he was going to have a nice day with his boyfriends”

Roger twitch as the b word, trying his best not to let it show on his face how much he hated it. Unluckily for him, Rouge could see right through him.

Her smile tighten. “Beacuse our little Ace says he’s in love and as his parents, we will support him no matter whom he’s in love with right?”

“But Rouge, he’s dating-”

“Nice kind men. Or is it a problem our son likes men?”

“Of course not but-”

“Is it a problem he’s seeing two people with their consent?”

“I never said that-”

Rouge clapped her hands, her smile turning just a bit dark even if her lips hadn’t so much as a twitch from their position. “Good. That settled, we can sunbath together in peace while our son continues his romance walk. Later the five of us can have dinner and we can learn more about Marco. Understood?”

“Yes, Dear.” Roger pouted, unhappy with the results planting his butt on a beach towel. He peeks up at his wife who was apply sunscreen like nothing had happened. “What if Ace get’s hurt”

“ It has been some years since I sunk an island,” Rouge hum cheerfully “I’m sure those two would be interested in the bottom of the sea.”

Her smile made him shiver and he wisely chose to cover her back in the lotion then mention how horrifying it was to hear her casually say she would kill the two blonds with such a happy expression.

By the Sea Wind’s he found the perfect woman to marry.
