For my Thousand Sons army I'm giving them an Iron Warriors flavor, cause I love both legions and it works thematically since Perturabo and Magnus were very close. This is the first mini I've tried out my scheme on and I think it worked really really well! I'm very proud of it!

I'll go first: I don't think it's possible to ethically keep thousand sons as pets. I know they're popular for their beauty and intense hobbies but their social needs are incredibly complex and hard to meet even for professional keepers, not to mention the psychic aspect

It’s been a minute! Here I am with my first proper delve into 40k via the Thousand Sons. I had a moment where I was getting Sororitas, but the Tsons had me sooooo motivated. The turn around for this amount of progress took about four days (major improvement from my month long timeframe).
Anyway, I’m going with a sort of jade, gold, silver, and black color scheme. I’ve started the slap chop method for my figures too! Right now we have just the jade green, but I’m already so happy with the look.

Hello everyone!
Hope you’ve all had a wonderful new years!
As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been busy getting my new place sorted (and working XD), so I’ve not had a whole lot of time to myself.
But! I’ve got my new painting setup all sorted, and I’m making good progress on my new years projects!
I’m currently working my way through my old metal & resin Chaos Space Marines, starting with 8 Thousand Sons!
These are metal/ plastic hybrid models - and I hate them. They’re very limited on details or strong contrasts in textures. This is very prominent on the legs (a fault with the old CSM sprues), where the trim fades into the armour, and the eyes in the heads are very hit or miss.
Guess that’s the problem with the old hand sculpted models and moulds - quality is very hit or miss (see also the ‘new’ 2008 Bretonnian Lord they’re release for The Old World)
Still, only one left (with one missing arm in storage somewhere)! Then onto Lords, Sorcerers, Terminators and characters!

What units I'd add to each of Chaos God's devoted Legions:
Khorne: The World Eaters codex feels a bit thin on the ground in some respects, but two things I'd definitely give them are a) a viable Fast Attack choice (Juggernaut cavalry or something like it) and b) an extra HQ choice for a little variety....I remember a line in the lore somewhere about "There are no temples to the Blood God, Khorne's followers worship on the battlefield" and I like the idea of giving them a unique variant of a Dark Apostle to reflect that (Granted part of this is because I already have a conversion/Kitbash in mind).
Nurgle: Destroyers, plain and simple. I feel like the Traitor Legions should still have some of the Pre-Heresy formations as options all round, but giving the Death Guard Heavy-Plague Weapon carrying jump-pack units based on the Destroyer squads makes perfect sense within the lore....Also something to pad out their vehicles a little, maybe a new flyer?
Tzeentch: The Thousand Sons being limited in their options always feels fitting considering, but there's a specific gap in their lineup I'd fill. the Rubric turned every Marine in the legion who wasn't a psyker into an empty suit in order to stop the mutations....So what I'd do is have a unit of massive, bloated and heavily mutated Psykers and have them function as a Psychic version of Obliterators.
Slaanesh: First of all I'd give the Emperor's Children their own Codex for once. Then I'd give them Heavy Noise Marines instead of Havocs, and then I'd give them Jetbikes, either as a character or a unit....They had them pre-heresy.
Also I'd give every God-Specific version of the Lord Discordant and a new Demon Engine.
And also Volkite.

While the post-revamp Necron lore has grown on me from my initial salt due to... well, let's face it, basically Trazyn and Zandrekh, but there's other neat parts too, I still feel like there was something lost from their original premise in the changeover.
Because like, in Warhammer 40K, there's this continual theme of "War dehumanizes," through stuff like the Servitors, the Wraith constructs, the Rubric Marines, the Dreadnoughts, the Black Rage, ect.
And I feel like, for all its faults, the old Necron lore was interesting in that it was basically the endpoint of where a society geared towards that sort of perpetual total war leads.
It leads to an entire people turned to soulless automata, fighting for reasons they no longer remember or care about, puppets of laughing gods; with the stars stained red with blood and black with tears...

My favorite part of thousand sons lore is that rubric marines are decorated by their controlling sorcerers. It's so important for men to have hobbies, especially creative ones like ornamenting the husks of your best friends' souls.
