The two times Rue reminisced the happier, simpler days of being “just Rue”, while Mytho was at the forefront of those memories, Ahiru was seen at the end.

(Emotionless) Mytho is the object of her affection, but Ahiru is the first to have given her unconditional love.

One to love and one to be loved by.

Just like Rue taught Ahiru everything good about dancing, Ahiru taught her that just the act of loving someone can be as beautiful as being loved by them, a lesson she heeded when Mytho was about to get his heart eaten by the Raven.

Her selfless declaration of love did not only save Mytho, but her as well. She then became more comfortable with conveying that feeling.

And the second person who received her “I love you” was the one who had never stopped caring about her.

Step On The Lake is a very silly story with lots of little gags and jokes! Very Fakiru heavy as far as shipping. But my favorite interactions are between Kraehe and Fakir. It's very sibling-like, and she acts more like a wingman than a villain haha. This one has a near-kiss, but nothing more explicit than that!

Die Golden Ente ("The Golden Duck") is a little more serious, but very sweet and heartwarming. Also Fakiru heavy, though the focus of the "story" is more on Rue and Mytho. I love the interactions between Duck and Rue! Their weird friendship is so cute. Nothing explicit at all in this one, just fairytale romance.

Whenever I see a Princess Tutu Beauty and the Beast AU, it's usually Fakiru.

Which of course isn't a bad thing, buuuuuut-

Why hasn't anyone done a Ruetho Beauty and the Beast AU? Like, the parallels are right there.

Now usually people would (at least, theoretically) make Rue the beauty and Mytho the beast... because well, he kinda turned into a raven beast at some point? I guess?

But the way I see it? Yeah, no.

Mytho is Belle all the way.

Rue's the fucking raven beast.

Like, really think about it. Rue has been gaslit all her life and led to believe that she's ugly and unworthy of love, making her cold-hearted and selfish.

Mytho is always putting others before himself. Taking someone else's place (*ahem* Fakirissomeoneelse—) as a captive in return for them to go free? I can easily see him doing that.

Look, you can't convince me that Mytho is somehow not a reskinned Disney princess, okay?

I remember having this idea way back then that the royal fashion of the season was very white+pastels+soft blues so Ahiru walking in in her scarlet gown just grabbed all the attention. Some of it was good, some not so much, and stuff came of it, and i made a comic about that XD

hm on one hand i love ruetho bc im a sucker for unrequited love and i'm a sucker for "i choose to love you on purpose" as a general theme but at the same time i 100% agree that they're like. not developed at all and have a lot of fairy tale themed baggage to work through and realistically maybe would not stay together BUT in nima land i get whatever i want so
