#the amazon and the congo are probably bigger #but the mississippi river system is so much more developed #both in terms of river infrastructure but also the cities built around it #and just generally the system is almost entirely contained in the usa #and it's relatively easy-to-traverse terrain #i mean there aren't like thousands of km of dense rainforest or giant rugged mountains #it's mostly rolling hills and flat plains and woodlands #so yeah those other river systems might be bigger #but the mississippi is not only huge but it's well developed and entirely controlled by a single nation #the other rivers are underdeveloped and split between several nations #so it would be a lot more difficult for any of those countries to fully utilize it #not to say those rivers wouldn't greatly benefit those nations anyway #i just don't think they're going to turn those countries into superpower levels on their own anytime soon #i think the yangtze is more comparable than these others #and likewise it has sustained chinese civilization for millennia #i think the mississippi will do the same for american civilization

i do rly love dungeon meshi so far and i do see that the mangaka is trying to rehabilitate the dnd tropes and make them more thoughtful and less racist and this is not so much a judgement, more an observation, but the dnd tropes originally are so racist that i kinda wish that the mangaka was completely inventing her own worldbuilding instead of building off of them. like maybe at some point we should as a society move away from and throw away dnd tropes in the trashcan where they belong, just a thought you know.

#the fact that many fantasy based stuff builds off of dnd tropes without doing much is not great #do we need to keep concept of races in fantasy? can we just not be like these people have long ears because of the climate and food etc #and same for orcs could be like they live in the mountains and are rugged and all #it just makes me so uncomfortable bcz there's all these inbuilt assumptions about orcs and elves etc that viewers will bring with them #most of the orcs in dunmeshi so far are darkskinned and it seems like a holdover from dnd which is obv visibly borrowed from tolkien #they tried to explain in the anime how orcs had no choice but to loot and plunder but still it just feels unsatisfactory #also the creepy af elf being dark skinned like hmmm darkskinned elves being evil is also a trope from dnd #tbf i still need to read the manga so maybe the elf thing is explained there #i am currently only watching the anime #but yeah this is 2k24 can we pls not do race science in the background of any fantasy adventure i am le tired

headcanon that red doesn't like to shower too often. he thinks thrice a week is already excessive but that's only really the maximum times of how often you can force him to shower in a week. that would be fine and all but for someone with the kind of lifestyle that red has (train all day, do chores all afternoon, cook dinner for his team using pungent berries), you can see why blue is very persistent that he showers at least daily.

but. blue has figured out a way to get red to shower more. he has found his weakness and that is the fact that red is completely and devastatingly in love with blue.

blue sees how bright and eager red's eyes become whenever blue cuddles in close and say "you smell really good today" and stay to hold him and caress his hair. blue makes it a habit that if he catches red fresh off the shower, to offer to dry his hair and then smooch his cheeks. "love your shampoo, got rid of the old one huh? looking for something you'd like?" red always smiles so wide and pulls him closer to take a turn in smelling blue's own shampoo. if red makes it to bed before him, blue likes to doze off with his face practically glued to red's neck, red's scent enveloping his last thoughts.

and boy. red wants more of that. he walks with his chest puffed out every time he comes out the shower in time for dinner, blue laughing at him and nipping at his ear. the movie nights that come after dinner are extra nice because they're both snuggled under warm blankets with hot coco and tea, and the nice familiar scent of aloe vera shampoo and coconut body wash. 😊💖
