I see my predictive drawings have returned with Ryan’s latest post. Haha. Although I think that drawing was also based on a photo Daisy posted. He just likes climbing coconut trees I guess. 🤣

5 Non-MCU Characters I'd love to see in Deadpool & Wolverine
Tumblr media
Superbowl Sunday saw the return of everyones favorite Merc with a Mouth Deadpool in the trailer for his upcoming new movie Deadpool & Wolverine.
And as usual, Marvel hooked me.
Some fans have seen it as a return to form for the MCU, others as business as usual for Ryan Reynolds, and some just couldn't get over the little bit of Wolverine we got.
Tumblr media
Myself, I was mainly focused on one thing. Aaron Stanford.
Tumblr media
For those not in the know, this clip from the trailer shows Aaron Stanford returning as minor villain and asshole Pyro from the original X-Men Films. He was a sidekick to Magneto, and has a rivalry with Iceman in those movies.
Tumblr media
The return of Pyro from the X-Men films confirms what most fans expected: we will see old heroes and villains from the Fox era, not just Wolverine.
And while a few have been already revealed through casting news or set photos, there are plenty more in store for us, I'm sure.
This got my head gears turning, so I decided I'd look back on the old Fox films to see who I want to return, even for the briefest moment or cameo.
None of these have been confirmed officially, so you are spoiler free from here on out. But I must warn, once I put this ideas in your head, you may be mad if they don't show up.
5. Animated Deadpool Voiced by Donald Glover
Tumblr media
*sigh* The project I wish existed.
In 2017, Donald Glover was in development and given the green light on an animated Deadpool show. The show was to premiere on FX in 2018. However, for unknown reasons it was cancelled, and never debuted, leaving fans and Donald Glover displeased.
Tumblr media
After the success of films like Spider-Verse, and Glovers involvement with Marvel, having him come in for a scene where he fights with or against Ryan Reynolds Deadpool could be a fun nod to the fans and maybe give the project the boost it needs to somehow come back.
But alas, I'm still hoping Spider-Verse will bring back Spectacular Spider-Man, so what do I know?
Tumblr media
4. X-23
Tumblr media
If there is a character ripe for a spin-off from the old X-Men universe, it was definitely X-23.
It's surprising to me she hasn't been revealed as a main member of the cast. She's a character I think few people talk about anymore, but was a crucial part of the film. I'd say Logan is up there and one of the best superhero movies.
Dafne Keen and Hugh Jackman made Logan such an impactful moving film. I'd love to see where the character has gone since Logan, and see how them reuniting effects the film.
Tumblr media
Not to mention if she fought Deadpool, it would be one hell of a good (and kind of funny ) fight.
3. Apocalypse
Tumblr media
Do I like this character? Absolutely not.
Do I want him here just for the Moon Knight jokes? Yes.
I actually think theres a good Apocalypse in Oscar Isaac somewhere. Having Deadpool and Wolverine at one point face the X-Men's Thanos sounds pretty cool, and Isaac is a great comedic and dramatic performer who deserves another shot.
I wouldn't mind a CGI version that looks more comic accurate, like Beast in the Marvels.
Tumblr media
But again. I really just want Deadpool to say "So are you Steven or Marc?"
2. The Human Torch
Tumblr media
Similarly, I want the Captain America jokes.
But if there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that Human Torch was by far the best part of those Fantastic Four movies.
There's just so many things you can do with it!
We can have him in the frosted tips, in a new Fantastic Four uniform. Maybe even have him fight Pyro, stop a fire guy with a fire guy. Or have him come out from behind a train like Captain America in Infinity War, but it's Johnny.
Tumblr media
Having Evans play across Reynolds even for a bit would make so many fans happy and get more cheers then No Way Home.
Besides Evans has done a cameo in a Shawn Levy film starring Ryan Reynolds once. He can do it again.
Tumblr media
1. Legion
Tumblr media
The rumored main villain of this film tends to have a very particular vendetta with Charles Xavier. So why not use his son to acquire power?
Legion is the acclaimed show from Noah Hawley starring Dan Stevens as David Haller, a mutant with schizophrenia and basically unlimited power.
Tumblr media
Dan Stevens is incredible in this show, and I think bringing in such a powerful X-Men character would make for some fun interactions and extreme stakes. Not to mention the insane visuals, all while delving deep into the psyche of both are protagonists.
While I doubt all of these characters show up, if one or two do, I'd be extremely happy. We'll just have to wait and see.
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for reading! Please consider following, and check out my socials and other sites here! And let me know: Who do you want to see in Deadpool and Wolverine?

TV I Liked in 2020
Every year I reflect on the pop culture I enjoyed and put it in some sort of order.
Was there ever a year more unpredictably tailor-made for peak TV than 2020? Lockdowns/quarantines/stay-at-home orders meant a lot more time at home and the occasion to check out new and old favorites. (I recognize that if you’re lucky enough to have kids or roommates or a S.O., your amount of actual downtime may have been wildly different). While the pandemic resulted in production delays and truncated seasons for many shows, the continued streaming-era trends of limited series and 8-13 episode seasons mean that a lot of great and satisfying storytelling still made its way to the screen. As always, I in no way lay any claims to “best-ness” or completeness – this is just a list of the shows that brought me the most joy and escapism in a tough year and therefore might be worth putting on your radar.
10. The Right Stuff: Season 1 (Disney+)
Tumblr media
As a space program enthusiast, even I had to wonder, does the world really need another retelling of NASA’s early days? Especially since Tom Wolfe’s book has already been adapted as the riveting and iconoclastic Philip Kaufman film of the same name? While some may disagree, I find that this Disney+ series does justify its existence by focusing more on the relationships of the astronauts and their personal lives than the technical science (which may be partially attributable to budget limitations?). The series is kind of like Mad Men but with NASA instead of advertising (and real people, of course), so if that sounds intriguing, I encourage you to give it a whirl.
9. Fargo: Season 4 (FX)
Tumblr media
As a big fan of Noah Hawley’s Coen Brothers pastiche/crime anthology series, I was somewhat let down by this latest season. Drawing its influence primarily from the likes of gangster drama Miller’s Crossing – one of the Coens’ least comedic/idiosyncratic efforts – this season is more straightforward than its predecessors and includes a lot of characters and plot-threads that never quite cohere. That said, it is still amongst the year’s most ambitious television with another stacked cast, and the (more-or-less) standalone episode “East/West” is enough to make the season worthwhile.
8. The Last Dance (ESPN)
Tumblr media
Ostensibly a 10-episode documentary about the 1990s Chicago Bulls’ sixth and final NBA Championship run, The Last Dance actually broadens that scope to survey the entire history of Michael Jordan and coach Phil Jackson’s careers with the team. Cleverly structured with twin narratives that chart that final season as well as an earlier timeframe, each episode also shifts the spotlight to a different person, which provides focus and variety throughout the series. And frankly, it’s also just an incredible ride to relive the Jordan era and bask in his immeasurable talent and charisma – while also getting a snapshot of his outsized ego and vices (though he had sign-off on everything, so it’s not exactly a warts-and-all telling).
7. The Queen’s Gambit (Netflix)
Tumblr media
This miniseries adaptation of the Walter Tevis coming-of-age novel about a chess prodigy and her various addictions is compulsively watchable and avoids the bloat of many other streaming series (both in running time and number of episodes). The 1960s production design is stunning and the performances, including Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead role, are convincing and compelling.
6. The Great: Season 1 (hulu)
Tumblr media
Much like his screenplay for The Favourite, Tony McNamara’s series about Catherine the Great rewrites history with a thoroughly modern and irreverent sensibility (see also: Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette). Elle Fanning brings a winning charm and strength to the title role and Nicholas Hoult is riotously entertaining as her absurdly clueless and ribald husband, Emperor Peter III. Its 10-episodes occasionally tilt into repetitiveness, but when the ride is this fun, why complain? Huzzah!
  5. Dispatches From Elsewhere (AMC)
Tumblr media
A limited (but possibly anthology-to-be?) series from creator/writer/director/actor Jason Segal, Dispatches From Elsewhere is a beautiful and creative affirmation of life and celebration of humanity. The first 9 episodes form a fulfilling and complete arc, while the tenth branches into fourth wall-breaking meta territory, which may be a bridge too far for some (but is certainly ambitious if nothing else). Either way, it’s a movingly realized portrait of honesty, vulnerability and empathy, and I highly recommend visiting whenever it inevitably makes its way to Netflix, or elsewhere…
4. What We Do in the Shadows: Season 2 (FX)
Tumblr media
The second season of WWDITS is more self-assured and expansive than the first, extending a premise I loved from its antecedent film – but was skeptical could be sustained – to new and reinvigorated (after)life. Each episode packs plenty of laughs, but for my money, there is no better encapsulation of the series’ potential and Matt Berry’s comic genius than “On The Run,” which guest-stars Mark Hamill and features Laszlo’s alter ego Jackie Daytona, regular human bartender.
3. Ted Lasso: Season 1 (AppleTV+)
Tumblr media
Much more than your average fish-out-of-water comedy, Jason Sudeikis’ Ted Lasso is a brilliant tribute to humaneness, decency, emotional intelligence and good coaching – not just on the field. The fact that its backdrop is English Premier League Soccer is just gravy (even if that’s not necessarily represented 100% proficiently). A true surprise and gem of the year.
2. Mrs. America (hulu)
Tumblr media
This FX miniseries explores the women’s liberation movement and fight for the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970s and its opposition by conservative women including Phyllis Schlafly. One of the most ingenious aspects of the series is centering each episode on a different character, which rotates the point of view and helps things from getting same-y. With a slate of directors including Ryan Bowden and Anna Fleck (Half-Nelson, Sugar, Captain Marvel) and an A-List cast including Cate Blanchett, Rose Byrne, Uzo Aduba, Sarah Paulson, Margo Martindale, Tracey Ulman and Elizabeth Banks, its quality is right up there with anything on the big screen. And its message remains (sadly) relevant as ever in our current era.
1. The Good Place: Season 4 (NBC)
Tumblr media
It was tempting to omit The Good Place this year or shunt it to a side category since only the final 4 episodes aired in 2020, but that would have been disingenuous. This show is one of my all-time favorites and it ended perfectly. The series finale is a representative mix of absurdist humor and tear-jerking emotion, built on themes of morality, self-improvement, community and humanity. (And this last run of eps also includes a pretty fantastic Timothy Olyphant/Justified quasi-crossover.) Now that the entire series is available to stream on Netflix (or purchase in a nice Blu-ray set), it’s a perfect time to revisit the Good Place, or check it out for the first time if you’ve never had the pleasure.
5 of the Best Things I Caught Up With
Anne With An E (Netflix/CBC)
Tumblr media
Another example of classic literature I had no prior knowledge of (see also Little Women and Emma), this Netflix/CBC adaptation of Anne of Green Gables was strongly recommended by several friends so I finally gave it a shot. While this is apparently slightly more grown-up than the source material, it’s not overly grimdark or self-serious but rather humane and heartfelt, expanding the story’s scope to include Black and First Nations peoples in early 1800s Canada, among other identities and themes. It has sadly been canceled, but the three seasons that exist are heart-warming and life-affirming storytelling. Fingers crossed that someday we’ll be gifted with a follow-up movie or two to tie up some of the dangling threads.
Better Call Saul (AMC)
Tumblr media
I liked Breaking Bad, but I didn’t have much interest in an extended “Breaking Bad Universe,” as much as I appreciate star Bob Odenkirk’s multitalents. Multiple recommendations and lockdown finally provided me the opportunity to catch up on this prequel series and I’m glad I did. Just as expertly plotted and acted as its predecessor, the series follows Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman on his own journey to disrepute but really makes it hard not to root for his redemption (even as you know that’s not where this story ends).
Joe Pera Talks With You (Adult Swim)
Tumblr media
It’s hard to really describe the deadpan and oddly soothing humor of comedian Joe Pera whose persona, in the series at least, combines something like the earnestness of Mr. Rogers with the calm enthusiasm of Bob Ross. Sharing his knowledge on the likes of how to get the best bite out of your breakfast combo, growing a bean arch and this amazing song “Baba O’Reilly” by the Who – have you heard it?!? – Pera provides arch comfort that remains solidly on the side of sincerity. The surprise special he released during lockdown, “Relaxing Old Footage with Joe Pera,” was a true gift in the middle of a strange and isolated year.
The Mandalorian (Disney+)
Tumblr media
One of the few recent Star Wars properties that lives up to its potential, the adventures of Mando and Grogu is a real thrill-ride of a series with outstanding production values (you definitely want to check out the behind-the-scenes documentary series if you haven’t). I personally prefer the first season, appreciating its Western-influenced vibes and somewhat-more-siloed story. The back half of the second season veers a little too much into fan service and video game-y plotting IMHO but still has several excellent episodes on offer, especially the Timothy Olyphant-infused energy of premiere “The Marshall” and stunning cinematography of “The Jedi.” And, you know, Grogu.
The Tick (Amazon Prime)
Tumblr media
I’ve been a fan of the Tick since the character’s Fox cartoon and indie comic book days and also loved the short-lived Patrick Warburton series from 2001. I was skeptical about this Amazon Prime reboot, especially upon seeing the pilot episode’s off-putting costumes. Finally gaining access to Prime this year, I decided to catch up and it gets quite good!, especially in Season 2. First, the costumes are upgraded; second, Peter Serafinowicz’s initially shaky characterization improves; and third, it begins to come into its own identity. The only real issue is yet another premature cancellation for the property, meaning Season 2’s tease of interdimensional alien Thrakkorzog will never be fulfilled. 😢
Bonus! 5 More Honorable Mentions:
City So Real (National Geographic)
The Good Lord Bird (Showtime)
How To with John Wilson: Season 1 (HBO)
Kidding: Season 2 (Showtime)
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy Vs The Reverend (Netflix)

Ryan Hawley and Danny Miller reveal all on Robert and Aaron’s wedding episode
Tumblr media
It’s been a long time coming- when you read the scripts for this wedding, is it everything you’d hoped for?
Ryan: It very much feels like a full stop – it’s the most definitive thing I think I’ve ever read in Emmerdale, which is really nice. It puts an end to the kind of ‘are they a couple, are they married, are they not married, is it legal, is it not legal?’ You know, no one’s going to prison, it’s over, it’s done, they are married now.
Do you worry then that if there’s too much stability, that they’ll stop writing for you?
Ryan: It’s very possible, yeah, but you know, there are other storylines other than romantic storylines, there’s lots of things that Robert and Aaron have got into in the past, in terms of the schemes they’ve done over the years – we’ll just have to wait and see. How does it compare to the last wedding in the garage?
Danny: It feels much more like a wedding, with all the family there and I think there’s such a big thing going on with Chas and Paddy that there’s a lot more reason to it this time – we’re not just doing it just for us, we’re going to do it for the whole family in a way. Make it official and make it a family event.
It very much feels like that, like a community coming together, doesn’t it?
Ryan: Yeah, it’s the centre of the village, there’s loads of cast members there, the decoration is a lot more thought out, and classy. I think one of the actual things in the script is, ‘it’s a million times more classy than the last time’. (laughs) It should be a lot more of an occasion and celebratory than maybe two guys in the garage getting married hastily cause one of them’s going away to prison.
The Queen of Robron Maxine Alderton has written the episode – do you think that adds a lot to how special this wedding is?
Ryan: I think it’s very much appealing to the people that are Robron fans; I think that it’s very much written for them. I really hope that they enjoy it because it is one of the very few occasions in the show where you get to see two people genuinely happy. Most of the time there’s always something that people are worried about, if it’s Liv, if it’s exams, if it’s someone going to prison, if it’s someone having an affair, if it’s a baby being born, there’s always something, and on this occasion it’s an episode where it’s just happiness and that’s it. And I think Maxine, she knows the relationship of the two characters better than anyone anywhere and also I think she knows how to write for the particular Robron fans very well. Hopefully it’s a success.
Tumblr media
It’s quite unusual for soaps for a wedding to actually go to plan and to be happy, do you think people need that bit of uplift at the moment with the world the way it is?
Danny: I think so, that’s a good comment really. We’ve always said would it be boring if it was just a straightforward wedding with no drama and you kind of think maybe it would be but realistically they’ve been through so much that there’s not really a lot left, bar a helicopter crashing…
Ryan: Been there, done that!
So what’s the story now going forward?
Ryan: To be honest with you I don’t really know, long term, that’s always been my personal preference of approach, I don’t really want to concentrate too far on what’s happening in the future, I’d rather just do what I’m doing right now. There’s a lot of stuff to get through in a block of soap scripts, but what’s nice at the end of this episode is that they ride off onto their honeymoon and I think we’re actually not in the next block.
You could have got a nice jolly holiday out of that!
Ryan: We could have got a spin off! That long lost spin off that was talked about all those years ago, that never happened!
Danny: Yeah, the DVD in shops for Christmas!
Ryan: Bottom of the bargain bucket! (laughs)
How does it feel to have a new producer in charge?
Danny: I think I’ve been in for long enough now to see producers come and go, people who have had a part in the show beforehand and people that are coming into it completely blind. I think it’s nice that you get the change in particular with Laura and Kate – they’ve got a specific route that they want to take with the show and I think each person comes in and adds a little bit, with the likes of different character groups and different storylines. For us down on the floor it never necessarily changes in that we notice much but it’s good that we get to have different people having their influence on the show, implementing their ideas into it.
Ryan: I think the show needs it, doesn’t it, 330 episodes a year,  it needs people to come in every now and then. Different minds, different ideas. There’s always, like Danny says, a new take on it and new character groups come in or new character groups get used more and less, but it’s quite nice.
Could you talk about the Chas and Paddy angle to the week as well? Does it make Aaron question whether he wants to have the wedding with the tragedy that’s happening?
Danny: Absolutely, yeah, it’s a lot to with the fact that it’s so soon after the events with Chas and Paddy that it feels too raw for them to be able to just do it there and then. The fact that they’ve talked about it for so long and it’s been postponed makes Chas push it through. There is always that in the back of Aaron’s mind during the ceremony that it’s difficult for his mum, it’s a few days before, it still goes ahead. It’s touching but it’s also nice that he’s doing it for the family.
Tumblr media
You must be proud of how they’ve tackled the storyline; it’s been really sublime, hasn’t it?
Danny: Absolutely, yeah, both of them have got their own kids; particularly Lucy, she’s close in terms of storylines to do with babies and she has her two gorgeous twins – you can see the looks on their faces during the scenes, you can tell what they’re thinking and it’s really not nice to read and to listen to a lot of the stuff that’s been written. I’m so proud of them, they’ve just taken it on and doing one take and keeping it fresh and raw, and they’re amazing. I’ve learnt so much from them so it’s nice to see that they’ve both landed a massive story.
They’ve both done so well. Do you think Dominic has been underrated over the years?
Danny: It’s a shame really, especially because he’s been so so supportive of the show and supportive of individuals in the show. Whenever anybody’s won any awards he’s always been the first to congratulate them. He’s not bothered about those kind of awards, sometimes it’s kind of nice that you don’t get them, because it’s the pressure of it. He plays Paddy and he does it exceptionally well. And so does Lucy as Chas.
Do you think the tragedy of what’s happened at the start of the week places so much more importance on this wedding which comes at the end, that there’s a need to have this really happy event?
Danny: Definitely, I think also that the fact that, it’s not that they want you to forget about it, but they want you to see that families come together. I think it’s very much a band aid for that problem, especially with Chas and Paddy. He’s their son, so they are happy, even if at the back of their minds they’re hurting.
Ryan, when you said that it puts a full stop on certain parts of the storyline, do you think it does the same to the duplicitous side of Robert’s nature? Is he more committed that he has been?
Ryan: It certainly feels like that for me, that’s not really written as much now. I guess I’ll have to wait and see over the next few blocks or the next year.
Is that how you see him as yourself, as a more morally centred guy?
Ryan: The Robert we have now is a much more morally centred guy. The function of the character is more that of being in a family unit with Liv, Aaron and Seb. That side of the duplicitous and out to get what you want, it’s not really there any more. Personally I liked that side of the character, but I’m happy to be whatever is written for me.
Tumblr media
Do you think it’s quite progressive of Emmerdale? It shouldn’t be in this day and age, but it does feel that soaps are leading the way and showing two gay men in a stable relationship dealing with family issues.
Ryan: I think particularly with soaps, because they are every day, there’s so many episodes, they’re watched by so many people whereas a drama can go unnoticed, maybe you wouldn’t see that relationship that you’d talk about. Whereas in this, it’s at the centre of the show, it’s watched continuously by people that faithfully tune in to the show. It is savvy to be that prevalent and that focal in a show like this.
With the wedding episode in particular, is there a pressure on you to get this almost perfect because you’ve got the most vocal fanbase- they’ll have an image in their minds of exactly what they want it to be?
Ryan: I think we just go with it, don’t we? It is what it is.
Danny: To a certain degree as well, it’s not within our control. We can only do what’s written on the paper, the directors are there to do the rest of it, but there are a lot of well-known references to the couple and I think the fans will be pleased that they do get the nod of the cap. But we just like to keep it 110% like we do on everything, whether we see them at home having a cup of tea or at a big wedding. They’re just a genuine couple, they’re just best mates, in a relationship and that’s what we play.
Ryan: The strongest relationship is when it’s relatable and when it’s two people you can relate to rather than two people that are what a certain person might hold as an ideal romantic pairing. It’s more relatable to have two genuine people with all their flaws, two human people, rather than a fantasy.
Tumblr media
Do you ever find it weird knowing that every look or gesture you make in your performance could be made into a GIF or a meme?
Ryan: Yeah, thanks for that (laughs)
Danny: I don’t know how you make them but I suppose they can make it out of anything we do.
Ryan: I wish I knew how to make those things – WhatsApp would be very entertaining!
Do you think they can co-parent successfully alongside Rebecca in future?
Ryan: It’s quite difficult to talk about without giving anything away!

since everyone is doing this (well - a few people, and i’m bored) I thought I’d give it a go too
My emmerdale wishlist for 2021
Besides the obvious - Robert and Seb home with Aaron where they belong and robron getting their baby.
- Get rid of the Posners. I don’t particularly care how (though I wouldn’t complain if it turns out Luke killed his brother and wendy helped cover it up)
- Break up Chaddy. I don’t care who cheats, i don’t care why - just break them up.
- Paul takes a long walk off a short cliff, never to be seen again.
- Reunite Vic and Ellis. I saw a gifset of Asan!Ellis with Vic... and god they were cute. it won’t be the same with new!Ellis but anything is better than luke.
- Liv will be officially diagnosed with epilepsy soon - give her a service dog!
- Mack vs the Dingles in some way at all times. With all the sarcastic comments on how they’re all fucking weird.
- Mack and Robert bffs.
- Mack and Aaron frenemies who keep it civil (mostly. with only minor insults back and forth) for Robert’s sake.
- Mack and Charity continue to hook up every now and then because they can’t help themselves... and there is a fine line between love and hate after all.
- Al playing Debbie and Priya blows up in his face, but not in the usual cat fight/dramatic reveal/ shouting match in the middle of the village. Let them find out about each other and team up to take him down! #girlpower.
- Harriet stops crying and praying and acting shifty and goes on a nice long jesus retreat to wherever Pearl has been the past year.
- Aaron could use a friend. If kayak boy must stay, let them be friends. let them talk to each other, make Ben an actual character and let him interact with people other than Aaron.
- Let Jamie go back to being a vet. I’m shallow - Alexander Lincoln is a very attractive man and I want to see him cuddle puppies or ponies or any other animal.
- Someone drop a house on Andrea.
- Since Kim is back, let her take over from Jamie at the HOP and interact with her staff (sack kayak boy because he’s never at work)
- Get Charity out of the pub and let her do something where she can scheme and be dodgy without too many consequences.
- If Noah is staying, let Kim take him under her wing. He’s a Tate and she’s constantly Disappointed in Jamie - give her a do over with Noah. it’ll be a way to make her more human (just like Millie) and a way to piss off charity - who can’t do or say anything because she’s Kim’s bitch.
- scrap the repeat of the Danny story. It was alright the first time around, now it just comes out of the blue. I get that they want to have Debbie interact with her daughter, but surely there are other ways.
- Liv and Gabby are friends, let them interact as such. and if they discover they’re actually more than friends somewhere along the way, I wouldn’t mind.
- Give! Matty! A! Storyline! (and a love interest - he and Amy were cute.)
- Give! Ryan! A! Storyline! (Ryan Stocks, not Hawley)
- Give Liv a job and get her out of the vinnypaulmandy bubble of doom and let her explore her asexuality and what it is she does and does not want from relationships.
- introduce a new family. The new vicar and his son is a start but we need more. If the posners and andrea fuck off, dale view will be empty and megan’s old house is still empty - plenty of room for a new family. Bonus points for a queer family.
- stop treating Rishi like a child. He’s 70, not 7. He raised 3 kids and owned his own business, he’s not the helpless fool they make him out to be.
- Give Meena something to do other than pick fights with her sister.
- Give Leanna something to do other than hating her dad’s girlfriends and sabotaging his relationships because she’s a Mean Girl.
- More village events. I know it’s hard because of covid right now but hopefully at some point this year enough people will have been vaccinated so that they can ease or get rid of the restrictions and they can have some kind of village event. Maybe something at the HOP. They never really had their big opening did they?
And above all... NEW PRODUCERS!

ok so I know it's been two whole days and everyone's probably ~~over~~  the buzz by now but I never will be until my dying day and I still have many feelings that keep bursting out in sudden rushes of weeping, smiling emotion every time I think about and look at my photos from the TV choice awards so whilst I'm finally feeling more human yet shattered and still in my bubble of happiness and daze and joy and laughter that seems to treble in potency late at night I'm here to relive the best moments from 4th September 2017 which is now officially declared National Ryan Hawley Day by his number one fan and tv husband Daniel Benedict Miller *deep breath* here we go...
getting off the Leeds to London train to find out Iain, Sally, Charlotte and John were also on it and we were completely oblivious to the fact we were sharing the same enclosed air as soap's best loved cast and most loathed man lmao (honestly we should have known from then on that it was going to be the most momentous day?!????)
seeing Iain once again as he walks past and ignores a group of very bitter robron fans whilst everyone tries their best to hold back with a couple of oooh's here and there, awkward tension that you could literally cut with a knife and comment of the night "can we all hush because he won't give us robron back at all" WHAT IS THIS TUMULTUOUS LIFE I LIVE I HIGH KEY WANTED TO LEAVE EARTH
the same very bitter robron fans forgetting about any foregoing drama, gathering together both in person and online to love and appreciate and support our boys. Meeting fans we'd spoke to for months (even years) for the first time and instantly connecting because of our mutual passion. It was just so pure???? and lovely??? and comfortable???? how happy and delighted and wrapped up in dryan we all were sat on those cold, hard floors cuddling for warmth, bonding and crying over how kind everyone was being as we posted our photos. It was one of - if not my favourite - times in the fandom (aside from the soap awards) and it made me realise why we're all still here on this rollercoaster journey
all being in a designated group waiting in anticipation for Danny and Ryan content as well as their arrival on the red carpet and making the loudest most inhumane noise as soon as the first photo was released, to say all eyes on us was an understatement IT WAS GR8
getting the news of more photos and videos and interviews and articles and reacting together it just made the experience so!! much!! more!!! special!!!
chatting with Kate Oates for a good few minutes and her giving an awkward side eyed chuckle as we tell her we miss her and need her back HONESTLY she is such a babe and I think she just about gets our current despair lmao bless
completely missing Danny and Ryan rolling up looking a solid 12/10 as they dive straight in the door and feeling deflated but also on top of the world (pretty sure my only view was Ryan's blonde locks sticking out from the crowd of heads and I have never felt more fortunate)
deciding to sit round the front in the dark and wait for any signs of the boys whilst contemplating how and why this god damn ceremony won't just start and it ending up being THE MOST SUCCESSFUL DECISION OF ALL DECISIONS
some random man asking if we're waiting for Danny Miller because he sensed 'that vibe' I don't think I've ever related to a passer by so much in my life it was amazing
seeing Danny first (of course, how many times does that boy want to take a cig break outside?!?!) him casually strolling over to us after he'd dealt with the sought attention on the other side whilst we're all must remain cool and collected, must try and not transport my thoughts from my brain to my mouth about how much I want to rip that suit without a tie off him and ruffle his perfect hair
him being the sarciest little shit??? "you travel about you lot don't you" were the very first words to come out of his mouth and I'm just??? thanks Danny for reminding me what a high key mess my life is it's all because of you I hope you know that!!
him saying he'd record Ryan's speech before the knowledge of him winning was actually in (LOL HE SO KNEW AND I'VE NEVER KNOWN SOMEONE BE SUCH AN ENTHUSIASTIC FANGIRL FOR RYAN HAWLEY I WOULD HAVE SOLD MY SOUL TO SEE HIS NERVOUS BEAMING LIL FACE THE MOMENT HIS NAME WAS ANNOUNCED)
Danny saying Ryan said he'd come out to see us later and us being all *insert everybody calm down it's happening gif here*
THE MOMENT WE FOUND OUT RYAN HAD INDEED WON BEST ACTOR AND NOW BOTH OUR BOYS WERE AWARD WINNING ACTORS there were genuine tears of merriment with hands clasped over faces it was a beautiful sight to behold and I've never been as ecstatic
Danny coming out (again) once the show was over and Emmerdale had smashed yet another award show, us applauding from a distance and Danny cheering with us from the other side of the road
us getting told to be quiet by the security for the hundredth time that night
then the biggest blur of the century occurring almost immediately afterwards as Danny tells us he's gonna bring the winning man out to us not even giving us chance to compose ourselves
A WILD RYAN HAWLEY APPEARS WITH THE BIGGEST GRIN ON HIS FACE CLUTCHING HIS SHINY AWARD AND MY LUNGS NEARLY GIVE IN
DANNY FOLLOWS RIGHT BEHIND HIM LOOKING SO UNBELIEVABLY HAPPY AND PROUD OF HIM HE WAS ON THE BIGGEST HIGH AND I DON'T THINK I'VE EVER SEEN HIM LIKE THAT EVEN WHEN HE'S WON HIMSELF, HE HAS SO MUCH SUPPORT AND LOVE FOR HIS CO STARS IT'S SO UPLIFTING
RYAN'S FACE AS HE HEADED TOWARDS TO US WHEN HE TURNED HIS HEAD AND SAW US ALL THERE I'M LITERALLY NEVER GETTING OVER IT him straight away asking us if we'd voted, thanking us for doing so whilst telling us how much winning means to him with his dedicated adorable speech. Him saying he thought John would win and being totally shocked, he genuinely never expected it all and he was so grateful and appreciative as everyone was congratulating him and singing our proud praises WHY IS HE SO FUCKING LIFE RUININGLY LOVEABLE AND ADORABLE AND MODEST HE'S THE CUTEST ANGEL I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT HIS SMILE AND HIS SWEET WORDS
Ryan just melting my heart to mush and reminding me why I hold so much admiration for him I'm just so honoured to have seen him right after his win and so unbelievably pleased we could show him outright the love he deserves and has instead of hearing it from second person IT WAS SO CHILLED AND SO PLEASANT TO SEE RYAN SO RELAXED MEETING US I DON'T THINK I'VE EVER SEEN HIM SO AT EASE AT A TIME WHEN HE ACTUALLY LEAVES HIS HOUSE (the drinks and Danny’s company probably helped)
DANNY JUST STANDING BACK AND LETTING RYAN DO HIS THING AS HE PRACTICALLY PUSHES HIM TOWARDS US EMOTIONAL AWAITING FANS I'm getting flutters in my tummy typing this out why am I like this why do they do this to me like???? what the fuck??? he just started filming randomly after he purposely went inside to bring him out and let him know there's plenty of people who are proud of him??? like he needed to witness him all there with us and he came out with him as backup because he wanted to record the moment we all gave him double the love he gives him on a daily basis I will never ever ever ever recover from this HOW WILL IT SINK IN HELP ME
us being completely unaware that Danny was filming at first and then just being in a state of belief about it, after we found out it was on Instagram and watched it back it was meltdown I tell you I have never been so thankful to be hidden behind a bush LMAO WILL I EVER GET OVER DANNY GLADLY EXPOSING US ALL AND CAPTURING THE FOCUS OF MY FRIEND JADE AND HER LIL CONFUSED WAVE NO I WILL NOT IT MAKES MY LIFE LIKE YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE
Danny getting us into trouble by the security for the third time that night and him just howling about the fact whilst carrying on filming despite the professional demands HE'S JUST WALKING AROUND FILMING HIS KING WHY THEY GOTTA RUIN THE VIBE IDC IF PEOPLE ARE SLEEPING RYAN HAWLEY AND DANNY MILLER ARE WITHIN REACHING DISTANCE IN THE SAME ZONE LET US ENJOY THE EUPHORIA
Danny being a cheeky, playful little shit 2.0 "where's that video going then" "never you mind" *smug smile and wink* "you so knew Ryan had won didn't you that's why you said you'd film the iconic moment for us???" "oh I can’t tell you that can I" *another smug smile and wink* I LOVE HIM WITH ALL MY HEART
A DRYAN PHOTO MY FUCKING DREAM COME TRUE I WAS SHOOKETH TO THE CORE I STILL AM I CAN'T STOP WEEPING OVER IT EVERY TIME I CATCH A GLIMPSE OF MY LOCK SCREEN
explaining what being shooketh is to Danny and hearing that word from the horse's mouth what a weird encounter
ridiculously happy Ryan Hawley holding his award up in every single photo like a proud child receiving their first medal with a school sticker smile IT'S ALL I NEED IN LIFE HE'S SO PRECIOUS
Ryan still finding the time to be the caring dad being concerned about how fans are going to get home, introducing himself with a handshake and reassuring them with a "don't be nervous" I was all awwwww'd out it's just sheer lunacy I can't cope with him
DANNY COMPLAINING ABOUT GIN AND TONIC BEING £20 SAYING RYAN CAN GET THE DRINKS IN SEEN AS HE WON AND DIRECTING HIS NEED TO GET WRECKED IN RYAN'S INFLUENCED AND BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS AURA "let's go get fucked" - that both ends my life and resurrects me every time it crosses my mind p l e a s e
us being all I LOVE ROBRON, hugging and just genuinely being inconsolable after the power duo said bye and headed off to enjoy the party together like there's so many mixed up memories it was that overwhelming and surreal I think I'm still in the midst of a dryan hangover
walking round London at midnight on autopilot and a delusional bubble just going through the motions breathless with no idea where we are or what we're doing, not even looking when crossing the road, nearly getting run over and not even caring because if we died right there and then we'd die at peak levels of happiness
heading back on a 5hr megabus journey just absolutely shook to the core, recapping and waking up from two hours of broken sleep turning to each other and being like OH MY GOD WE ACTUALLY GOT A PICTURE WITH DANNY AND RYAN
I ended up walking through Leeds at gone 6am in the pissing down rain, my onesie and no makeup but it was well worth it to see Emmerdale sweep the board clean and the two men I owe my life to TOGETHER! IN! THE! FLESH! Honestly I wish I could bottle up the moments and the feelings and just dish it out for everyone to experience because literally nothing compared.
I really do have such an overwhelming amount of love for Danny and Ryan and I'm about to cry again like wow they are just too cute I've never seen a friendship so heartwarming, two people being so loving and tender and supportive towards each other in real life whilst being in a constant cycle of snogging, fighting, problem facing, soul consuming and devoting deeply onscreen. I'm still in disbelief I can't even concentrate on reality nothing else matters but them those two married tv husbands and I don't think I'll ever love anyone more. I was just here living a normal, basic life being a normal, basic human being and then dryan came along and changed everything hehehehe the pain. Seriously, Emmerdale has destroyed every particle of my sanity lately but it's times like this when it hits me that there's no denying they own my ass completely EVEN ON MY DEATH BED THE EVENING OF THE 4TH SEPTEMBER 2017 WILL STILL BE THE LAST I SPEAK OF DESPITE THE REST OF MY DIRE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL LIFE EVENTS CONTINUING AS I GROW OLD

Debunking the Capitalist Cowboy by Nan Estad at Boston Review:
Business schools fetishize entrepreneurial innovation, but their most prominent heroes succeeded because they manipulated corporate law, not because of personal brilliance.
Capitalism, like the United States itself, has a mythology, and for five decades one of its central characters has been the nineteenth-century maverick cigarette entrepreneur, James B. Duke. Duke’s risk-taking investment in the newfangled machine-made cigarette, so the story goes, displaced the pricey, hand-rolled variety offered by his stodgy competitors. This, in turn, won Duke control of the national, and soon global, cigarette market. Repeated ad nauseam in business and history journals, high school and university curricula, popular magazines, and websites, the story has taught that disruptive innovation drives capitalist progress.
The problem? The Duke story is false: mid-century business historians fabricated it to accord with the theory of creative destruction, developed by libertarian economist Joseph Schumpeter. For generations, we have learned from this myth to fetishize entrepreneurial innovation as the engine of capitalism, while missing Duke’s instrumental role in rampant corporate empowerment.
Air Pods Are a Tragedy by Caroline Haskins at Vice:
Even if you only own AirPods for a few years, the earth owns them forever. When you die, your bones will decompose in less than a century, but the plastic shell of AirPods won’t decompose for at least a millennium. Thousands of years in the future, if human life or sentient beings exist on earth, maybe archaeologists will find AirPods in the forgotten corners of homes. They’ll probably wonder why they were ever made, and why so many people bought them. But we can also ask ourselves those same questions right now.
The Cis White Gay Man at a Crossroads by Tim Murphy at Into:
To ally oneself with power and privilege after historically having one’s own inherent gender and racial privilege compromised because of one’s sexuality is extremely seductive. It’s also uncomfortable, to say the least, to know that your new bros are perpetuating cruelties that you know in your gut to be real because, especially if you are an older gay man, you remember such cruelties to the point that your voice rises and breaks when you allude to them.
It can be so uncomfortable that, in the next breath, you deny their authenticity. People who feel vulnerable and unsafe, you say, enjoy playing the victim. Your new status in the world depends on not connecting your own former, or fleeting, suffering to theirs.
Privileged by Kyle Korver at the Player’s Tribune:
When the police break your teammate’s leg, you’d think it would wake you up a little.
When they arrest him on a New York street, throw him in jail for the night, and leave him with a season-ending injury, you’d think it would sink in. You’d think you’d know there was more to the story.
You’d think.
But nope.
Women suffer needless pain because almost everything is designed for men by Sigal Samuel, interviewing Caroline Criado Perez, for Vox:
Sigal Samuel: Can you give an example of a drug that’s been found to be less effective for women?
Caroline Criado Perez:  The most shocking one was a heart medication that was meant to prevent heart attacks but at a certain point in a woman’s menstrual cycle is actually more likely to trigger a heart attack. That has to do with the problem of not testing the drug on women at different stages of their menstrual cycle, because you [the researcher] say, “Oh, that’s too complicated and too expensive.” You’re basically saying, “I would rather let women die than have to do a complicated test.”
It Wasn’t Just the Trolls: Early Internet Culture, “Fun,” and the Fires of Exclusionary Laughter by Whitney Philips in Social Media + Society:
Very quickly, I realized that many of the young reporters who initially helped amplify the white nationalist “alt right” by pointing and laughing at them, had all come up in and around internet culture-type circles. They may not have been trolls themselves, but their familiarity with trolling subculture, and experience with precisely the kind of discordant swirl featured in the aforementioned early-2000s image dump, perfectly prepped them for pro-Trump shitposting. They knew what this was. This was just trolls being trolls. This was just 4chan being 4chan. This was just the internet. Those Swastikas didn’t mean anything. They recognized the clothes the wolf was wearing, I argued, and so they didn’t recognize the wolf.
This was how the wolf operated: by exploiting the fact that so many (white) people have been trained not to take the things that happen on the internet very seriously. They operated by laundering hate into the mainstream through “ironically” racist memes, then using all that laughter as a radicalization and recruitment tool.

The fact that Awkward Human Giraffe Ryan Hawley brings to life Actual Trash Can Robert Sugden is such an inspiration. Anyone truly can become anyone they want.

he just looks like what i imagine our younger rob, ryan hawley peak version, would have looked like before he escaped from emmerdale okay
does anybody else just look at random people on the train and just be like he has elbow patches, its robert sugden in his past.
i saw this old businessman with blonde streaks talking about his hair gel and i was like its robert sugden in the future.
promise its not my fault. if emmerdale actually fleshed out his storyline and treated him like the complex human he is, than maybe i wouldnt have to imagine it myself.

No but seriously. Ryan Hawley seems like one of the nicest people and everyone that works with him/meets him seem to be a little bit in love with the guy.
What the hell is wrong with people hating on a real person? Like he is actually a living, breathing human being you fucking a-holes. Grow the hell up and stop thinking the anonymity of the internet somehow allows you to make mean or horrible comments about REAL LIFE FUCKING PEOPLE.
And listen, if I see ONE negative comment said against Ryan (or for that matter Danny), I’m going to ram my pointy heel so far up your ass, you’ll be tasting it for months.
Come at me.
