"killing off izzy after he went through all this growth and finally got to be happy means all that healing was for nothing"
goddamn that is a bleak way to look at life. we all die, man. healing is still worth the effort.

At the risk of being blocked by half the fandom (lol), can I say that... SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT
I kind of liked the idea of Izzy's redemption through a death arc? Sadly the show only got 8 episodes so it's quite apparent that it was a rushed affair with little to no emotional payoff, having him die like that, with no sacrifice for his family or anything similar. But I do understand why he died: he was Ed's past, he was the embodiment of all the toxic Blackbeard shit they did together, he was right in saying he had kept Ed from becoming what he was, because that's how their relationship was written in the first season! I know this fandom has all but whitewashed Izzy since the beginning of the hiatus after s1, making him into a completely different character, to the point where all the shit he did was scrubbed off to make him more palatable. But what happened remains on screen! He had to die so that Ed could be free. Well, it wasn't actually necessary of course, but it's symbolic. It fits well. I just wish they had a couple more episodes to make it less rushed. Izzy was never the poor innocent mew mew the fandom wanted him to be, I am very grateful that the writers kept that characterisation

About your idea of Norman keeping for months at Lambda to the memory of Isabella's last hug. I have better:
Little AU where everything is the same except that, while Isabella hugs Norman to say him goodbye…
For a second, just three little seconds, she let her mask fell and said, in a whisper, a "I'm Sorry" in his ear. Because Norman was her little boy, she has raised him for 11 years. And she knows that this Peter will send him to a slow and painful death, rather than a quick one like all her other kids. She didn't want that to happen to him. She knews he'll suffer, so much, because she heard about Lambda. Maybe norman's shippment to Lambda was planned for months (for his 12th birthday, maybe) and has just be advanced.
For a moment, just a little moment, she feels her heart cracks. So she wisphers "i'm sorry" in his ear. Peter didn't hear her, he was letting her saying goodbye, he thought she was saying "goodbye".
Then he took Norman.
For 15 months, both the hug and the words stay in his mind.
"I'm sorry"
She was really sorry?
"I"m sorry"
She had no reason to tell him that, considering that he was sent to a slow death and that she would never seen him again. She told him she was happy and then….she said she was sorry.
It makes him cry. He hates being emotional about it. Does this hug and those words were geniune? Did she was really sorry? Did it mean that she wasn't happy?
At a point, after the evasion, he asks Vincent.
"Do you think she was really sorry?"
Vincent has no answers. He didn't have someone like Isabella. He wasn't betrayed until the very last moment. He was not as close of her than Norman was of Isabella before learning the truth.
"If she wasn't sorry, why would she tell you that?"
It's all Vincent can say.
A little part of Norman is sure that she wasn't lying, that she was really sorry, thisq litrle part of him hopes so much her love was real and that she was truly sorry, but his ressentment is stronger at this point.
It's kind of hard to pinpoint exactly when Legravalima made the push for Norman to be sent off to Lambda instead of the demon god.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Chapter 152)
The way I interpret this sequence is that she'd been eyeing him up for years, her gluttony and avarice festering, knowing that he was supposed to be served at the 2046 Tifari after he reached full Grace Field maturity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Chapter 7)
And then this could just be early series weirdness because Shirai wasn't 100% sure what reasoning he wanted to provide at this point, but to make up for the extremely lackluster harvest of the other Grace Field farms, in October 2045 Norman's shipment was bumped up to just a few days before the 2045 Tifari in November. Yverk says "that will certainly please The One" in response to Isabella saying the trio's shipments can occur as planned, or "whenever [the demons] like."
He could be lying to pacify the rest of the noble court at Legravalima hoarding the highest grade meat for herself, but it doesn't sound like he's aware of there being another plan to send Norman off to Lambda at this point, and it doesn't seem like Isabella is aware of any other alternative path for Norman and Ray either until she's given the letter and suitcase on the first of November.
Tumblr media
(Chapter 20)
There could have been other Grace Field children sent to Lambda, but with how we don't see them among any of the rescued children in the paradise hideout, Adam focusing specifically on Norman's identification number, and how the narrative wants to highlight Norman is special and isolated during this time partially because of how he interprets and internalizes that perception of himself, it seems like a safe bet he was the first Grace Field child to go to Lambda in its less than fifteen years of existence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Chapter 72 | Chapter 73)
I have a difficult time seeing Isabella say sorry to him in this moment given how pointed her saying she's happy just a few minutes earlier is with how it's just as much a lie to herself as it is to Norman. If it isn't true, then all the cognitive dissonance she's maintained up until now was for naught, and she had to fight so, so hard to kill the hope she had at opposing the system as a little girl.
Tumblr media
(TPN Light Novel 2: Moms’ Song of Remembrance - “The Starry Sky and Leslie’s List” Chapter 9)
Her commitment to maintaining that facade in such a tense moment at the expense of providing the son she's raised for ten years a concession of any sort of sentiment that what he's experiencing is wrong is more interesting to me in how it adds to the emotional climax of the arc.
Vincent and Norman interactions, though, my beloved,,,
It throws a wrench into the carefully cultivated persona of an ice-cold emperor he maintains (like mother, like son), but I do very much enjoy the thought of Vincent being able to provide Norman support outside of his competency in all matters related to the technical side of their plans with how similar they are and Norman losing all the older siblings he had at Grace Field.

SPOILERS FOR INVINCIBLE S2E08!!! WATCH AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION!!!
---------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------
Well, everyone that has read Invincible knows that during his fight against Levi, Mark gets thrown into the Marvel universe, bumping into a fight between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus. Let's be sincere, Amazon getting the rights to add Spider-Man was an almost impossible idea... But not entirely impossible. Yet still, we had to brace ourselves for small cameo in which the Marvel character would seem recognizable for the fans, yet ambiguous enough for lawyer teams. I was lowkey expecting that, but they decided to go further and have a more elaborate encounter... So... That's the thing: The either payed for those juicy Spider-Man rights or they made a legally distinct Spider themed superhero. Of course they went for the second option.
So... Introducing...
Agent Spider! Ugh...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look, I think it's unfair to be disappointed by them not being able to add Spidey. I get it, but it was a pipe dream...
... However...
This legally distinct character looks quite awful and unappealing, which is weird considering how generally good Invincible designs are (specially for the pastiche characters). I'm no rabid MCU hater, but this guy looks like the worst MCU design trends in an original Spider-Man design, minus all the basic Spider-Man elements.
Like, I get not making him look too close to Spider-Man — stuff like changing the colors or composition — but this looks WAAAY too tacky. And what's with that "agent" motif? Who came up with that random ass bullshit? "Agent" Spider? Why? That motif actually add the worst elements to the design. Like the stupid "A", or the harness, or the pouches, or the "tactical" lines of the... Is that a fucking helmet? Jeez.
What irks me the most is that making a good looking Spider-Man parody/pastiche is not really that hard, you don't have to overdo it. Look at the Brown Widow from Venture Bros.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The theme makes more sense, as this chatacter is based on a specific type of spider and there is a comedic motif that doesn't take over most of the design. Yet still, it retains the simple siluette of Spider-Man and a basic notion of detailing and distribution of elements on the suit. Most importantly, THE EYES! The eyes scream Spider-Man, yet they give it their own spin to fit into their own motifs.
Whatever Spider-Man knockoff they would have added to the Invincible season 2 finale, it should have been something more like the Brown Widow, not that awful Agent Spider.
Well, at least they got Josh Keaton.

It was a bad beat against Man City. In fact, it was worse than bad. The locker room is quiet when you enter, fully expecting this.
You remember these games. When the match was so hard you would go home and get drunk alone or not say a single word on the bus ride back.
In your fourteen weeks at Richmond, you’d never seen the team this quiet, never seen Dani not try and cheer people up, or Ted make some weird analogy that puts things in the perspective of a guy from Kansas.
They all barely glance at you. you traverse the locker room and make small conversation with Beard, who is standing with his arms crossed and hat tipped down near the far wall.
“Peter Wasnowski wants to talk to you,” you say. Beard meets your eyes. “He wants an honest perspective instead of Ted’s happy-go-lucky schtick.”
While you appreciated Ted’s enthusiasm and belief, sometimes being a coach is worth more than cheer twenty-four seven. As his strategic and medical coordinator, it was up to you to bring him back and to make a good reflection on the team, especially after a loss like this. Beard, stoic, silent, but wise, was your solution.
Beard acknowledges this, but when he makes for the door, a security guard peeks his head in. “Mister Tartt, you’ve a guest. Says he’s your father.” Ah, shit.
Jamie’s told you about his dad. Not much, only that he never had a great relationship with him, not now, not ever. He's always been painted in your eyes as a dick.
That's another factor to your Richmond experience: Jamie Tartt. he’s a soccer legend (although he makes fun of you calling it soccer), and he used to be a grade-A asshole, so you’ve heard from Sam and Roy. He’s Keeley, your best friend’s ex-boyfriend, and so you’ve heard your fair share of horror stories about how he used to be.
And yet…
Ever since you’ve arrived, he’s been nothing short of respectful and kind. He’s pretty funny, you would even admit. He brings you flowers on Mondays, and he turns bright red when you compliment his sense of style, even though he’s so full of himself that you would assume that he got compliments all the time. He has a facade that he puts on for fans: the untouchable, unbeatable star player of Richmond FC, the master ass himself.
His father peeks his head, trying to be comical, but the team barely reacts,
You look at Jamie. He's tense, jaw clenched and fists turning white.
His dad prods and teases about the game, making biting remarks that you just know Jamie’s taking personally. You can tell, from the slight movement of his lip, to the crescents that are sure to be forming in his palms, that he’s about to lose it.
Ted has this look on his face, protective, but not ready to intervene,
How is it, you wonder, that there is a room full of professional athletes- a team, a family - and no one is trying to defend Jamie, who is being verbally and emotionally abused by his father, right in front of them?
Jamie quietly stands up for himself. you feel a surge of pride, but the defense does nothing. his father only gets madder. You can’t help but wonder if he’s drunk or just plain crazy, because no one in their right mind would cross Jamie Tartt.
… right?
His father calls him a name and this is when you decide that Jamie is worth so much more than this. “Okay, that’s enough, sir.” you slip between the two Tartt men. Jamie’s father, crazed and hysterical, looks livid. you try and stay courteous.
“(Y/n),” Jamie’s tone is warning.
“I gave you a chance to talk to your son but I've had about enough. you need to leave.”
You have to fight hard so your voice doesn’t waver too much. There is a slight quake. You ball your hands into fists. “I won't ask again.”
“(Y/n),” Jamie says, more urgently. “don’t.”
But James Tartt Sr. ignores his son and zeros in on you. Your heart pounds in your throat
. “You think you can talk to me like that, you little slag? You fucking think that i’m scared of a little fucking bitch like you?”
“Sir-“ you put a hand out. Beard and Ted seem frozen. Finally, you can see the team reacting. Roy looks about to kill Mr. Tartt.
“Little fucking slut!” the name spits out like poison, and you don’t see the punch coming. The man’s fist collides with the left side of your nose, right next to your eye. The pain is automatic. You hit the ground and there are shouts, but your eye is watering and you can barely see. You can make out Jamie’s voice from the din.
“You don’t touch her!” There’s a sound of a blow and you look to see Mr. Tartt fall to the ground. He groans, but gets up surprisingly quickly for a man his age.
“Okay, you can get that one for free,” he laughs manically.
no.
You find a sudden burst of energy and run straight into Mister Tartt’s midriff. You wrap your arms around him and push him away, like you’ve done many times before, separating teammates from petty locker room squabbles. He smells of stale beer and body odor. Beard has the same idea as you, and together, you rid the locker room of James Tartt Sr.
there’s a wet warmness running down your lip, the taste of iron in your mouth. you press your sleeve to your bleeding nose and squeeze your eyes shut. Beard crouches next to you.
“Let me look,” he instructs, you pull your sleeve away, a drop of blood on your jacket. It’s stopped quickly, and you completely take off your coat. “Not broken. Only bruised.”
You nod.
The sound of shouting echoes down the hall and Beard tips his hat to you, leaving you alone with your back pressed against the wall.
You give yourself thirty seconds to recuperate before re-entering the locker room.
You do a double take in surprise, the sight of Roy Kent hugging Jamie Tartt is not one you ever thought you’d see.
You approach slowly, letting Jamie see you before putting your hand lightly on Roy’s back. He immediately lets go of Jamie, casts you a worried look, but gives you space.
Hesitantly, almost fearfully, Jamie takes your face into his hands, pressing a gentle thumb against the spot were his father hit you.
“He hurt you,” he whispers. You ache at the sound of pain and regret in his voice, knowing he’s probably already tearing himself up for this. You wrap your arms around him, one over his shoulders, one under his arm and pull him close. He returns the hug, holding you tightly. You feel his chest quake against you.
“I’m okay,” you tell him, voice muffled. “you’re going to be, too.”

actually can we stop talking about “deserve” when it comes to characters dying in fiction. not everything is a fable with a moral lesson to be learned. romeo and juliet didn’t “deserve” to die. bambi’s mom didn’t “deserve” to die. izzy dying in the finale doesn’t mean ofmd is saying that certain types of queer people “deserve” to die. fictional death can serve more narrative purposes than just punishment for the character doing the dying.
