Mauna a Wakea
State of Hawai’i, Office of Hawaiian Affairs: “Mauna Kea is a deeply sacred place that is revered in Hawaiian traditions. It’s regarded as a shrine for worship, as a home to the gods, and as the piko of Hawaiʻi Island.
Mauna Kea is also a critical part of the ceded lands trust that the State of Hawaiʻi must protect and preserve for future generations, pursuant to its kuleana as a trustee.
Despite four state audits and generations of Native Hawaiians expressing concern about the threats to Mauna Kea, the state and the University of Hawaiʻi have continuously neglected their legal duties to adequately manage the mountain. Instead, they have prioritized astronomical development at the expense of properly caring for Mauna Kea’s natural and cultural resources.”

TBT to that time when I flew around the beautiful Denali peak in Alaska. • I got hypnotized when I was in front of that gigantic rock and then I realized that Denali was going to be part of my name to honor this great nation and because it’s such an amazing place on Earth. Denali means “The Great One”. • Denali (also known as Mount McKinley, its former official name) is the highest mountain peak in North America, with a summit elevation of 20,310 feet (6,190 m) above sea level. With a topographic prominence of 20,156 feet (6,144 m) and a topographic isolation of 4,629 miles (7,450 km), Denali is the third most prominent and third most isolated peak on Earth, after Mount Everest and Aconcagua. Located in the Alaska Range in the interior of the U.S. state of Alaska, Denali is the centerpiece of Denali National Park and Preserve. • #tbt #ak #alaska #alaskan #alaskainthesummer #flyingoverdenali #denali #denalinationalpark #yukondenali #denalination #edücation #denalipark #denalimeansthegreatone #thegreatone #sacredmountain #athabascan #beautifulalaska #aroundtheworld #awayfromhome #alaskaisbeautiful #alaskaisawsome #greatestmountains #denalimountain #onlyinalaska #i❤️alaska #the49thstate #flyingaround #denalioutdoor #denalitour #thankful (at Denali National Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/BtVASTuB2HY/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=f9rlgu1a5y87

“This is for us who sing, write, dance, act, study, run and love and this is for doing it even if no one will ever know because the beauty is in the act of doing it. Not what it can lead to. This is for the times I lose myself while writing, singing, playing and no one is around and they will never know but I will forever remember and that shines brighter than any praise or fame or glory I will ever have, and this is for you who write or play or read or sing by yourself with the light off and door closed when the world is asleep and the stars are aligned and maybe no one will ever hear it or read your words or know your thoughts but it doesn’t make it less glorious. It makes it ethereal. Mysterious. Infinite. For it belongs to you and whatever God or spirit you believe in and only you can decide how much it meant and means and will forever mean and other people will experience it too through you. Through your spirit. Through the way you talk. Through the way you walk and love and laugh and care and I never meant to write this long but what I want to say is: Don’t try to present your art by making other people read or hear or see or touch it; make them feel it. Wear your art like your heart on your sleeve and keep it alive by making people feel a little better. Feel a little lighter. Create art in order for yourself to become yourself and let your very existence be your song, your poem, your story. Let your very identity be your book. Let the way people say your name sound like the sweetest melody. - So go create. Take photographs in the wood, run alone in the rain and sing your heart out high up on a mountain where no one will ever hear and your very existence will be the most hypnotising scar.” (Charlotte Eriksson) • #fromwildplaces #landscape #dawn #firstlight #taosmountain #newmexico #newmexicoskies #silhouette #sacredmountain #sangredecristomountains #landscapephotography #nature #earth #homeisaplace #naturephotography #birds #wildernessculture #printsforsale #fineartphotography #newmexicobeauty #create #magic #sunrise #earlymorning #peaceful #taos #taosnewmexico https://www.instagram.com/p/BqZ7qwxAXte/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ag67bjb4nho

#Hiking the #sacredmountain known to us as 'Quiea-Lliæ Beætz' which literally translates as Peak-Rock-(Brother, Volture Bird?)... We started in the afternoon, saw the sunset and walked down trusting our eyes in the dark (aided by some light pollution from the surrounding villages, sad). 《》 《》 《》 #dixzarugsandorganicfarm #dixzarugs #organicfarm #dixza #zapotecweavers #zapotecrugs #rugs #tapestry #arearugs #bohostyle #tribal #indigenous #weaversofinstagram #interiordesign #slowcraft #teotitlandelvalle #Oaxaca #crafts #folkart #weaving #art #instatravel #instatraveling #travel #travelgram #wanderlust #hikeoftheday (at Teotitlán del Valle)
