shameless headcanons: halloween🎃

a lot of these are pre-canon 🕸️

since it was autumn in chicago, a lot of the time the kids would save their candy for winter just in case shit got so bad they didn’t have food.

ian and lip would stay up watching horror movies every year, lip always jumped at the jump scares and ian would laugh at him.

they always made their own costumes at home (fiona and v would team up to make them) but there was one costume bought at the store, a princess dress and tiara from when fiona was little. fiona wore it for as long as she could fit into it, as did debbie.

halloween parties are thrown every year (1999-present), because of course, gallagher’s know how to fucking party!

every halloween ian takes pride in scaring his siblings like this.

as seen in the season 1-9 intro, debbie covered liam in toilet paper for halloween one year and he went dressed as a mummy. fiona scolded her for wasting toilet paper, but laughed at the quick, convenient costume.

lip used to willingly/happily give out halloween candy, maybe in his house with tami and freddie now he still does it.

the irish twins (lip and ian + debbie and carl) always had matching costumes, lip and ian as iron man and captain america, carl as peanut butter and debbie as jelly, etc.

debbie is very good at carving pumpkins and brags about it, like she carves flowers and faces and cool shit into them. meanwhile, carl carves a dick or a basic jack-o-lantern face (that debbie mocks, obviously).

ian and carl like candy corn, the rest of the siblings hate it.

all of october, mickey gives ian many new nicknames- you know, vampire, dracula, pumpkin (inspired by this post), candy corn, etc.

debbie bakes for the halloween party every year and she takes it VERY seriously.

kev and v always have matching couples costumes that are wildly inappropriate (inappropriate in a slutty way and in a controversial, could get you cancelled on twitter way).

debbie is a PROUD pumpkin spice latte defender and is seen drinking one all throughout october. she tried to convince franny to try it and franny spit it out so she now just gets hot chocolate from starbucks.

much like debbie, mickey is oddly good at carving pumpkins, however he goes down the same route as carl and carves dicks into pumpkins (meanwhile, ian is shitty at it like carl but attempts to make his pumpkin look good).

we know that the milkovich siblings (+ sandy) used to go trick-or-treating, and i imagine that they would work together to make their costumes. mickey would give himself tattoos with sharpie and his entire outfit would be too big as he stole it from the thrift store or one of his brothers.

halloween was the one night where fiona would let the kids eat whatever they wanted, but she would soon regret it as she realized that carl and debbie would just stuff their faces and end up puking by november 1st.

gallagher family dinners

it's sunday! which means all the gallaghers and honorary gallaghers (Kev and V) are at Lip and Tami's for weekly sunday night dinners!

it's Ian and Mickey's turn to deal with dinner so they pick up pizza for everyone on the way over. they place bets on whether or not Carl is going to bring some random girl this time who he claims is "the one" as they make their way over.

when they get there, Kev, Liam, Carl and Franny are running around the house with nerf guns. Fiona is holding Fred while her and Tami swap baby horror stories about Fred and Liam. Debbie and Sandy are laid all over each other on the couch, mickey walking past and spitting a quick "Jesus will you two get a fucking room" as they both flip him off.

"PIZZA!" Lip yells throughout the house as he and V are cutting up fruit and vegetables to put on the kid's plates. they are little plates shaped like different animals, lip jokingly hands one to Carl as he walks past, earning him a firm "fuck off" from Carl as he brushes past him. they all sit down, talking and yelling over one another, bursting out into laughter every five seconds. Franny climbs up into Mickey's lap with her pizza as Ian watches on, absolutely smitten by the sight. he moves his hands to squeeze Mickey's thigh as the two make googly eyes at each other.

"Now who needs to get a room?" Sandy jokes, lightly chucking a piece of crust towards the two. Mickey and Carl fight over the last piece of sausage pizza, eventually resorting to a game of rock-paper-scissors to see who gets it. Mickey wins and sensually bites into the piece to rub it in Carl's face.

At the end of the night, they all file out of Lip's house, Ian's arm hanging loosely around Mickey as they make their way home, slightly tipsy off a few too many beers, singing some song that they're almost definitely getting the words wrong to before making it to their apartment, immediately falling asleep in each other's arms.

How i think Tami, Mickey, and Sandy's friendship stated!

For Carl's 21 first birthday, all the Gallaghers go to a bar to celebrate his first legal drink

At some point during the night Mickey, Sandy, and Tami are left alone at the bar with Carl's current partner and they're all lowkey antisocial assholes so they sit in complete silence until Carl's partner makes some excuse to go find him

As soon as they leave Tami faux whispers something like "is it just me or is carl's new girlfriend (mildly insulting comment)"

And all hell breaks loose

By the time the Gallaghers come back to collect their partners, they're gossiping and laughing loudly amongst themselves, various shot glasses littering the bar.

They have their fun but they don't immediately make it a thing, all of them refusing to admit they're lowkey besties at this point. Settling for sitting together at every family gathering when everyone else is drunk or distracted to have their weekly dose of gossip

Sandy is who initiates the hangouts outside of their relationships with the Gallaghers. During a weekly cookout when everything is loud and on the edge of too much Sandy suggests they take a walk around the block.

Tami makes Mickey push Freddie on the stroller and somehow they end up eating at a taco truck before all three of them return to the cookout lighter and laughing like old friends

From there on they make a group chat where Sandy basically sends links and dates followed by "who's down?"

Those quick meet-ups for lunch to scope out restaurants turn into night outs

Somewhere down the line, Debbie breaks up with Sandy. It's not the first time they 'take a break' only to get back together in a couple weeks, but Debbie says it's serious this time.

The group chat goes silent. Sandy is usually the first one to initiate contact but she's gone radio silent, and neither Mickey nor Tami want to admit they miss their hangouts

That whole week they are noticeably more stressed, Ian knows better than to suggest Mickey needs to hang out with his friends because not even surprise blowjobs in the shower are helping

Lip wants to rip his head off because Tami nags so much more now and for the first time unironically wishes Mickey showed up at his house

That weekend Mickey and Tami wait a total of two hours before swallowing their pride and asking Debbie where Sandy is.

Debbie: how the fuck should I know? we broke up

They go back to their seats but something is clearly missing. They're still able to gossip and banter but it's lacking a certain something

Finally, Mickey groans and says "fuck it, she's my cousin." And pulls out his phone.

Thus they begin their friendship

Tami drags them to Target with the promise of buying them Starbucks

Sandy drags them to bars to "feel young again!" (Being the youngest and only single one)

Mickey drags them to "scope out" any new restaurants/sketchy food trucks

The Gallghers don't know if their joining forces by will is a good or bad thing

This got a little long but currently working on a short one-shot because I love them so much and have so many scenarios and ideas for them!

Then I stalked some tumblrs and I finally broke down and made one on 8/17/2021 and here I am!

I was working the biggest med-surg floor at a city hospital and I was exposed very early on (luckily I stayed negative). Anyways, my anxiety was absolutely bonkers, as was my anger (no hazard pay but records profits for the healthcare industry?!). So fic became so so special and meaningful to me, which led me to all these new friends that I feel like I have no reason but to be myself around and they are all so supportive and encouraging and we can talk about smut and its totally normal and they feed my brain regularly with words and art and gifs and headcanons and FRIENDSHIP and omggggg I love you all so so so so much!!!!!!!!!!

I think pre-marriage they probably get their own. That’s sort of inferred in the ‘domestic bitches’ scene as Mickey has sent Sandy to pick up soap and shit from the Milkovich place and Ian asks for a list to buy him stuff ( weird that he doesn’t feel like he can use Ian’s?!) Once they get married, or even before this, I feel like they share things. We all know Ian loves the way Mickey smells, so it stands to reason he would like using his shampoo and soap so he can also smell just like his fiancée/husband. Once they get to the West Side, I feel like they try new, fancy shampoos and soap for fun - sharing them together in the shower.

i’m kinda late to this because i keep forgetting but HERE THEY ARE (some of these are stolen from my other headcanons post and also half of these are very unserious)

ian was so excited when debbie was born, he loved being a big brother. whenever anybody tried to take the newborn baby out of his arms, he would throw a fit and insist that the baby belonged to him and you can’t touch her!

the two of them have gotten drunk on mimosas at like 10 in the morning on several occasions

when debbie was in her phase where she was going on about “ginger racism” she kept sending ian photos of gingers/articles about discrimination against gingers and so he blocked her number (temporarily!)

they have a gallagher groupchat (canon) and debbie talks the most in it. ian leaves the groupchat constantly because of the spamming so she has to add him back

also kinda going off of that^ ian is horrible at responding to texts/calls and leaves debbie on read CONSTANTLY, which pisses debbie off, making her spam his messages/voicemail until he gives in and texts her back (she’s so me)

(pre-season 1) when frank and monica would fight ian would try to calm her down while fiona and lip tried to break up the fights. carl would usually be fine and just watch/go up to his room, but debbie would get scared and cry, worried about either of the parents getting hurt or leaving.

debbie used to make her siblings bracelets out of like rainbow loom and shit and she made ian the most and he, unlike lip, wore all of them (no matter how sparkly they were).

(pre-3x05) debbie would beg ian to take her with him when he went to the milkovich house to go see mandy, which was incredibly awkward for ian, considering what he was really doing going there to do.

debbie visited ian the most in prison (lip tried to also, but he was also focusing on tami and fred).

ian taught debbie how to throw a punch.

heidi runs away and devastates debbie, which leads to her crying over her loneliness and venting to ian constantly, so eventually ian and mickey come up with a way to reunite sebbie (yes i’m writing about this).

also this isn’t a headcanon but i have a question and it’s why the fuck wasn’t sandy at ian and mickey’s anniversary party if she was so important in the wedding like that could’ve been our tiny sebbie reunion we could’ve gotten like one frame of them talking and i’d be satisfied

the gallaghers + a haunted house 🧟

fiona: kinda acts like a middle aged mom…so theatrical about everything…will absolutely yelp any time someone brushes past her. one of those people who screams in the face of the teenager who is just a staff member that stands in the house to direct people where to go. clings on to ian or lip for dear life.

lip: totally lame about it and doesn’t want to go but everyone practically forces him to. almost squares up with some of the scare actors but overall isnt spooked easily

ian: makes fun of fiona for screaming and then immediately jumps out of his skin when the same guy pops up behind him. tries to act macho but lowkey clings to mickey for dear life after punching him in the arm and reprimanding for jumping out at him

carl: terrorizes everybody and recruits mickey to help scare everyone else. targets fiona, walking ahead of her and popping out every chance he gets. she smacks him profusely everytime but it never gets old to him.

debbie: it was her and sandy’s idea to go. she is pretty easily spooked and just wrapped around sandy the entire time, smacking carl on the shoulder every time he pulls some shit and shoving everyone with a “move your asses!” everytime she gets scared/someone pops up behind her

liam: loves it, advocating for the rights of scare actors and emphasizing how difficult their jobs actually are; appreciating the art of it all; gets spooked quite a bit but ultimately had a great time as kip’s hands are in his shoulders the whole time guding him through

So I'm kinda emotional. Just rewatched the Gallavich episode and had this headcanon about that scene between Mickey and Sandy walking down the aisle at the Gallavich wedding. Something in the way she stares at everyone then at Mickey and then she smiles in a kind of nostalgic way, perhaps it was just me but it gives me chills like Sandy is really thinking about something or someone important right there. It's not just Mickey or the fact that her closest cousin is getting married to the love of his life, his partner, someone he knows since they were kids. I think Sandy is also thinking about someone that Mickey right there reminds her off, and in my head I think if Sandy did have a brother or sister that died young. She could probably be thinking if this is what it would feel to walk him/her down the aisle, to give him /her away to a person that truly loves him/her and would make him/her happy in a way they've never been.

I just think right there was Sandy's memory triggering. Briefly, but strongly enough to make her want to cry.

And I'm not ok now.

Hey anon! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you!

I believe I've only seen one post about it a long time ago (and I think it was an anon ask but don't quote me on it) but it been thinking about this post for such a long time that I needed to make one myself -

I think Mickey changes his last name to Gallagher, and here's why:

Because Mickey has been a Gallagher for years. Ian had his back more than the Milkovichs ever did. Ian is his fucking (partner, lover,) family. you know?

Mickey liked a lot of traditional stuff about their wedding / marriage and I think he would like to share a last name. Since both of their last names are long... they decide to keep it simple. And the gallavich thing is too cringy for them.

Have you seen how smitten they look when they call each other 'husband'? Those two possessive sappy motherfucker would love it. Mickey loves being Ian's, Ian loves knowing Mickey is family in every way.

Milkovichs are known from being involved with illegal shit (remember the Paula comment? I also think that why Mickey got 15 years) and Mickey wants to distance himself from that. Him and Ian are trying to build a semi legal life together. 'Milkovich' is just adding to the stigma of southside ex-con he already has to deal with.

After Terry dies, Mickey wants to get rid of anything his father gave him. With Mandy gone, Colin and Iggy ran away a long time ago... he doesn't really have anyone but Sandy from his family. So no real attachment to it.

The Gallaghers are his fucking family. He might bitch about them all the time but they truly are his family and I think it would feel right for him. It took him no time to fit right in the Gallagher house, building relationships with all of Ian's siblings. By the time they get married he's feeling more at home than ever, even after years of being gone.

I don't think Ian would ever want to / feel comfortable calling himself a Milkovich. A. because of Terry and all the horrible things he did B. he never fit in with Mickey's family and C. because Gallaghers have a weird attachment to their last name, "we're Gallaghers" is a part of their personality. D. it would make Mickey's tattoo even weirder.

extra point- I don't headcanon them having their own kids, but possibly getting custody of Franny and possibly fostering kids when they're older. I think having one last name might make them feel more like a family.

"I dare you to go a day without touching Ian," Sandy says as seriously as she can, watching as Mickey's face slightly falters from that initial cocky smirk. It's her turn now to wide mockingly.

"I fucking dare you."

It isn't as if Mickey can say no in front of all the Milkoviches. He might be a fag, but he's most certainly not a pussy, as far as Sandy knows. And he had gone into the whole Truth or Dare game with a grin on his face worthy only for a winner. Sandy was about to knock him down a couple of notches.

She smiles around the rim of her beer bottle, watching as Mickey's eyebrows go through all five stages of grief. He eyes their cousins around the table, then lands on her, shooting her the nastiest of glares.

His simple reply is, "No."

There are a couple of different reactions, all ranging from the expected oohs and pussy, to who the fuck is Ian, but Sandy only really cares about her own.

"Oh, I'm not done," She says, her eyes moving ever so slowly around the room. "He can't know about it."

Mickey's jaw was short of dropping. He acted as if she'd asked him to make out with their third trans cousin, Dolores.

"C'mon Mick, it's not that big of a deal. You two can keep it in your pants for a fucking day, right?"

Mickey literally seems as if he's about to say no, the most surprised look on his face Sandy had ever witnessed. She really fucked him up with this one.

Serves him fucking right for teasing her about Debbie on their way to the house. And to his apartment. And always.

There is absolutely no way Mickey is going to say yes—and yet Sandy knows that he will. That his pride will overpower any sense of reason for his one true love, that weird ginger.

Oh, how she wishes it was the same for her and Debbie—but she's away with some other chick now, according to Mickey, fucking up everybody's life, plus her own.

She can't be thinking about any of that, though. Not now, as she's got Mickey backed up in a corner.

"Come on, Mick; you don't wanna disappoint us now, do you? You're not too...chicken, are you?"

Sandy smiles to herself. Mickey will not say no now. Not a fucking chance.

Just as cousin Rango asks who the fuck Ian is for the fifth time in a row, and just as Iggy hands Mickey another shot glass, the said man relents.

"Fine. I'll do your stupid fucking dare."

He tips the vodka back down his throat.

The twenty-four hours, per agreement, start at noon, and Sandy would be with the two at all times to make sure Mickey does his due diligence.

She thought it was going to be fun—getting Mickey back for constantly teasing her about Debbie and for babbling on and on about his superb love life—she was wrong.

She was so, so wrong.

Because, instead of Ian getting mad or exasperated, or... Fucking something—he's... He's just...

He's just really fucking horny.

Sandy doesn't even fucking know how that shit happened. How everything went so fucking sideways.

She expected to watch some drama unfold; to be witness of that angry Ian that Mickey said always got his engine running, as disgusting as that was to know. Instead...

Hear me out- Gallagher family game night at ian and mickeys. Mickey pretends he hates the idea.

Freddie and franny come for dinner and sleep in the bedroom. Franny usually comes back out and falls asleep on her Uncle Ian’s lap.

It started with poker- an old, beat up pack of cards with the cheap new chips debbie ordered off Amazon.

Frequent events include:

Lip and Mickey fighting

Significant time spent explaining rules to Carl

Liam forms alliances against specific siblings

Tami and debbie disagree over rules

Ian drinks a little too much and gets sleepy and cuddly, leaning all his weight on Mickey.

They play for quarters, or personal favors. (Mickey has to pick franny up from school, debbie has to help replace lip’s water heater, Carl has to order liam a pizza the next weekend, etc

Mickey and Tami are always partners, and debbie and lip are a really powerful team- unless they’re trying to kill each other.

Liam tends to fall asleep on the couch and debbie can be caught gazing down at him sweetly, remembering days of taking Liam to 2nd grade show and tell.

Ian and Mickey can get really competitive. It definitely leans towards homoerotic. Multiple game nights have ended with Mickey ‘helping’ Ian in the bedroom for at least 20 minutes before the Gallagher’s just pack up and go.

Everyone tends to get a little drunk or high- except Liam and lip. Lip gets to watch his little brother, a little sense of deja vu as he guards over him. Liam helps Mickey order Chinese food to the apartment, Mickey can’t read the damn small words on his phone. Lip DDs everyone home, helping debbie up to her apartment with franny.

Mickey and Tami are incredibly sore losers, lip pretends he doesn’t care but he does. Carl can’t understand complicated games. Ian makes cute little snacks.

And family time looks a little different, but it works.
