my favorite bowls in the whole world, from the arcoroc seabreeze line (1988). scalloped edges, smooth inside & grooved like a seashell on the outside.

these are the bowls i grew up using. no idea why. we had mostly cheap plastic cups & ceramic plates. no glass except for these, totally out of place.

there’s larger bowls, plates & cups in the collection too. all are lovely but we just had the five-inch bowls. they’re the only ones that look familiar & right to me...

thick, tempered glass. pretty much indestructible, survived plenty of drops plus the wear & tear of childhood while looking sparkling new. i remember as many as 3 bowls & they all lasted forever.

they make me think about breakfast before school: cereal, oatmeal, & let me tell you, cream of wheat never tasted so good as it did in one of these babies... i think it was the texture of the food inside complimenting the texture of the glass outside... the extrasensory food experience.
