The PuzzleVision Theory

Hey, my fellow SMG4 fans and Theorists. I'm here today to talk about something that all of the fandom are trying to work out. The mystery of this PuzzleVision stuff that's been happening. So, let's talk about it. Keep in mind, we're gonna get to the analysis of the SMG34/SMG43 ship, don't worry.

So, in the trailer for the IGBP movie, we can see that the characters have been upgraded again. TBH, the designs are more nicer. Then we get to the ending of the trailer. We can see just how intense it's gotten. SMG4 looked like he was on the brink of insanity.

"It's gotta be perfect. It's gotta be perfect! IT'S GOTTA BE PERFECT!!!" was the Wham Line of the trailer, as it made him look more terrifying. Speaking of that, we get to the movie itself.

We know that SMG4 was corrupted by the keyboard. And we also see the tiny TV icon asking him to rate their experience after he's free from the grasp of the keyboard. This is our first hint of Mr Puzzles, and his scheme, which makes him the main storyline's villain.

In the WOTFI 2023 Mission Prep stream, we can see the boys planning the heist to get SMG3's Notebook back from Mario and Marty. What if Mr Puzzles was corrupting Mario to taking the Notebook, too? Well, you'd be wrong.

During the course of the entire WOTFI 2023 special, we find out that Marty was told that there was a secret pizza recipe in the notebook.

We get a glimpse of Marty's office in the TF2 video, and it doesn't look that menacing, right? Ha ha ha. WRONG! In WOTFI 2023, the place is overloaded with traps and heavy weaponry that can kill anyone who dares to trespass.

It is at the end of WOTFI 2023 that we get our first real look at Mr Puzzles. We can see that he looks pretty menacing. We'll get more into his depth RN.

So, during the whole of "No TV Make Mario Not Okie Dokie", the power goes out, and everyone freaks out. The crew all try to find a source of energy, until the end when the power comes back on. Happy ending, right? Ha ha ha. Nope. Turns out that the TV appears downstairs for some reason. But this is important, as it shows us that the next chapter of The Showgrounds Saga has begun.

The first of five shows is a Blue's Clues parody, which shows us that the crew are being forced against their will to put on a good show. "Mario's Mysteries" is about SMG4 and Dog Mario attempting to "solve" the mystery on where the spaghetti is.

So we get our first shot of Mr Puzzles in this Five-Episode Mini-series called PuzzleVision. He appears with a red outline, as he plans to make the show as perfect as he can. Huh. Sound familiar? (insert Insane SMG4 here)

It is here that we get our first clue that everything isn't normal. We see Meggy, Tari and SMG3 all stuck in the basement, shown on the TV screaming, hinting at their release. They want freedom. They demand freedom, to no longer be forced to act as little playthings in Mr Puzzles' shows.

Next is "Once Upon an SMG4", which has one of the deepest messages ever. The premise of this episode is that SMG3 is the princess, no surprise there, he IS a Tsundere after all. He wants a "Sugar Daddy" to be rich. The songs are great. Near the end, SMG3 says "I wish we could all escape from here", which means he's self-aware of the brainwashing.

Yeah, Mr Puzzles. A "programming malfunction". It's like he's trying to keep the SMG4 Crew from spilling the televised beans. Which he is, no surprise there.

The third episode is entitled "Scooby-Mario, Where'd You Go?", which is a Scooby-Doo parody, and not just any Scooby-Doo parody. But a funny parody, and the best one so far. The episode is about Chef Bob going "missing", and the gang have to find him.

At one part of the episode, we get a glimpse of some type of surveillance room. Here, we see snippets of the episodes playing on about 27 TVs, if you count the TVs hidden in the shadows. Another hint of characters being self-aware.

Overall, my theory is that Mr Puzzles wants to make sure that at least one episode gets a five star rating. Perfect episodes mean never ending entertainment. I've been wanting to make a post about Mr Puzzles and his antics since WOTFI 2023. But I needed more evidence to support my theory.

But, hey. That's just a theory. An SMG4 Theory!

his love for plants & art and how enthusiastic he gets about them

the fact that he makes sure that everyone gets heard & nobody gets left out (eg: when Tae was stuttering and couldn't get his sentence out, joonie made sure that he can take his time and say what he wanted to say)

when he makes sure to defend us against rude interviewers

I also love that he is savage af fjadsjf it's always hilarious when he's sarcastic af with weird/boring/rude interviewers

he is the best leader ever <3 the team always comes first and he takes up the burden of speaking when nobody else can and I just want him to know that we and the members love him so much <3

the genre of pictures when the members do something (silly) and he just stands by their side with the fondest smile on his face HOLY FUCK I'M IN PAIN

he is very aware of people and knows how to act around them (eg: that he is calm with Yoongi and in the next he jokes around with Kook.) he just knows how to be a source of comfort to people

HOW HE TAKES CARES OF HIS LIL BROS :( like, it's self-evident for him that he'll cook for them or make sure that they're warm/comfy/well fed/happy :(

how positive he is, his outlook on life is so fucking refreshing to someone like me, who yearned for the past and feared the future. he helped me a lot in getting rid of those feelings

he is so funny istfg he says the most unhinged shit and acts all goofy, not because he wants to be "funny for the cams" but because he just likes to be a goofy guy and I love that so much about him

he can be serious as well and that he is a good listener (all I can see is that one moment in ITS 1 where Yoongi opened up to him about his struggles) which just show once again how emotionally intelligent this man is

like. he could have easily joked around back then but he didn't because he just knows how to be a safe comfort to people

that one video where they had to do a challenge in an elevator and "a crying woman" came inside and he was the only one who asked if she was alright

when he MCed with that one woman (i forgot her name) and she couldn't talk because she was crying so much so he took over for her

the fact that his "goodbye" song before the m*l*tary was about how much he loves us

that he doesn't cater to forced fan service (like "kiss him on the cheek, the fans want it") and that he doesn't listen to weird company rules. Go off king, JinHit Entertainment for life <3

have you seen this man? have you seen him and how he is? i mean coME ON DO YOU HAVE A YEAR BECAUSE I'M NOT GONNA SHUT UP ABOUT HIM

he is caring and soft and tender

he is so cute

he wants to be a source of comfort to people

he is the epitome of a safe man

he tells people that it's okay to cry, to rest if they're exhausted and to not have a dream because it's already enough that they're alive

he also says stuff like "giving up on your dream already takes a lot of strength, I'm proud of you" LIKE OMFG HOLY FUCK HE'S HEALING ME FROM SO MUCH TRAUMA

that one scene in ITS2 when perfectionist koo was all like "i gotta sing perfectly" and yoong was all like "you're already doing enough, don't worry about it" like omfg he just constantly reassures people that what they're doing is already enough

when he teaches people, he makes sure to do it calmly and with lots of patience

tells artists, who debuted after them, that they can come to him for advise and support

holy shit I'm breaking apart you have no idea how much this man means to me

he loves soft and cute things

it is self-evident for him that if they're on a trip he'll be the one cooking for the members (he even actively plans what he'll cook the next day while he is still cooking or he randomly just gets up and cooks something for them because he felt like it)

also: a very organised traveller, who knows how to handle finances/camping gear etc. which is very attractive

he hums to himself when he cooks or cleans :(

he is passionate about music :(

he can't say no to ARMY please!!! (each time someone's like "show your hand" "please smile" "act cute" he just repeats the sentence and then does it heheheh cutie)

all of those videos i'm so whipped

despite his tender heart, he still knows how to shut haters up and he doesn't take shit from anyone which just makes me want to gnaw at him

also that he publicly stands up for lgbtq rights!

I'm so sorry I tried not to talk so much about him but he's been my number one since 2016 and I don't think it will ever stop. one time I talked one of my irl non-army friend's ears off for like an hour about all the things I love about him fandfna

I think people overlook just how caring he is, like. next to yoonjin, he was always the one helping them in the kitchen and making sure the members are fed in ITS

he is so passionate about music and dance and istfg I could watch him choreograph and practice his performances for ages (his documentary when he was super serious during practices but then went hehe :D good job everyone :D afterwards)

bro again. he is such a perfectionist as far as his job is concerned and I think that's so attractive

despite his perfectionism he never treats the people he works with badly (eg: praising the dancers when they did a good job)

like!!! he is so kind and sweet and tender hearted :(

he is such a giggly cutie heheheh (I love that if one member does or says something funny, Hobi will be screeching in laughter and throwing himself all over the place) I hope he never stops laughing

the way he interacted with his parents in his docu :( it is so clear how much he loves them and I just love him so much

don't come for me, but the way he drives a car HFADFHA

he is so tender and gentle at his core

people misunderstand his "RBE" as him being rude or coldhearted when it's literally just his resting face,and then they proceed to paint him as someone with "too cool for you" attitude

WHEN HE IS ACTUALLY SUCH A GENTLE AND SOFT TEDDY BEAR

he is so naturally cute, but in an almost innocent kind of way that makes me want to coddle him

he is so thoughtful and it's so obvious that he thinks a lot about what he will say and how he will say it before he speaks

he is also so poetic in the way he speaks

Did you guys notice that Tari in the banner is the only character that is reacting differently? I have 2 theories about what is wrong with Tari.

Tari is self aware and knows what’s going on, driving her to insanity or stressing her out

the real Tari is trapped somewhere in a concrete room, and the Tari we are seeing is her replacement. Her conscious may be trapped in the tv and is trying to ask us for help, and is probably why she is different in this staticky banner

the TV entity/Help.bsp/TV adware is making her hallucinate, causing her to go insane.

I think theories 1 and 3 may be more plausible, though. Theory 2 is kinda far-fetched.

Thinking about what the Grid/MRU storyline would look like to the viewers, since obviously very few people in-universe are aware of the existence of digital life. 'Cause like, in order for the Grid to operate the way they do they have to be an actual indie animation studio with their own Youtube channel like Glitch Productions, and their tech company branch in the Mushroom Kingdom has obviously been showing up in episodes, most notably Astra's introduction and major role in the Racing Arc, and some hints to them possibly being the organization that took Tari that one time. (Also I haven't actually said this in a post yet but I've been imagining that the Grid's channel has been up for a while doing their own unrelated animation content so as to be less suspicious).

So people already think the two studios are working on something together, possibly some kind of ARG, because what other logical explanation is there for the SMG4 series to be casting this random up-and-coming animation channel as some kind of greater scope villain? And well, Luke can't just come out and say he has no idea how they got into his show, because then he'd have to explain how that's even possible, which is a bad idea since it would involve revealing:

Computer programs can and often do become fully sapient living beings

The only people who know this decided to record them for entertainment purposes instead of telling anyone

The actual real life multiverse is real

We only know this because an alternate version of the show's creator's self-insert main character nearly destroyed all of reality

Time travel is also real but only digital beings can do it

Digital beings are able to enter the real world (though it's extremely hard to do intentionally and there's a very short list of people who know how). It's unclear if IRL people can enter the digital world.

Several of the digital beings known to exist are bizarre parody clones of actual real life people

The vast majority are copyrighted characters and the companies that own them probably won't be too keen on getting them legally recognized as people

It would be chaos if not handled carefully. So GP decides to just let things play out for now, and both sides end up semi-unintentionally playing into the Massive Secret Collab assumption.

And then, of course, the video showing Tears of the Kingdom's activation goes up.

And the fans

An official, canon side series, made by another animation studio on their own separate channel? That's insane! Nobody could've seen that coming! It manages to blow the AvA Sticks being plot relevant to the Goomba Arc completely out of the water, and that was pretty massive itself!

And, just like during the buildup, the Glitch team can't say anything to the contrary without revealing Everything before it's safe to do so, and the Grid knows it.
