Anyway, I’m going with a deep teal for my recreation of a support garment that was marketed specifically to women doing physical labor horrible patriarchal torture device Kim K waist cincher that I’m using to corrupt the youth

Terribly excited, although the fabric will take a while to ship from Spoonflower. Taking suggestions on flossing colors – at this point I’m thinking gold or white? Maybe light gray or mint? I’m planning to bone it with synthetic baleen, so I can actually drill through the bones and floss over them – I suppose I’ll have to pick a design

The busk and the Boning have already shipped, so I can start the mock up as soon as I get those. Fingers crossed the pattern fits well!

So with everything that’s happened this week I was unable to finish the blankets. Fortunately I can give them as late Christmas presents which no one in my family really minds lol.

I wish I had been able to get them done, but I forgot how long the bending takes to sew on and as much as I tried I unfortunately fell asleep.

I’ll probably be able to finish them tomorrow or monday, but since it’s the Christmas season I’m going to let myself off the hook.

One and a half lines of quilting done for the cat quilt! I’m seven hours and fifteen minutes into making this quilt, there’s seven lines of quilting to make total, and then I have to do the binding. I think like at least an hour left to sew?

it is made of a bed sheet,

I used a neat sewing technique for the shoudlers I learnt from the sewing bee! It is fully lined and SO COMFY!!!

I made the pattern myself, I made a few mockups before I got to the main fabric. I will be sharing an aproximate pattern (i dont know how to make a printout one) at some point!

I got a book about sewing and mending for Christmas, and I've been using it today to try darning my socks for the first time.

I gotta say, I have never felt more respect for all the people (especially women) who havve been doing this for the past several hundred years. This stuff is sew (pun) hard!😫

New addition to the night sky! Star #4/15 now complete. This is my first time making a quilt, much less a quilted dress, and I keep swinging between enjoying the process, and being completely frustrated lol. Paper piecing has been really helpful in making even a beginner like me look like I know what I'm doing. But I can't tell you how many times I've had to seam rip and restitch a section because when I go to press a new section open, I realize the fabric doesn't completely cover the area it needs to lol.

I've been using scaled down versions of the paper piecing patterns on Wombat Quilts' website:

She has some awesome stuff, and shares a lot of helpful resources. Maybe this is a poor excuse, but since I'm new to quilting and I wasn't confident I could come up with a design myself, I've pretty much just been copying her "Starry Night" quilt 😅 I'm telling myself that because this is really just for me, that this doesn't count as plagiarism. Copying is a form of flattery...right?
