space babies and the devil's chord first watch thoughts

a couple of these are things i wrote down while watching but most is off the top of my head afterwards. will probs rewatch in the week and be more on it writing down thoughts etc

starting the episode with however many minutes of the doctor telling ruby his life story is... idk. defo didn't hate it but also it felt very powerpoint-y like they're just tryna get all the info out and hit the bases for the new viewers. which is partly understandable and i do think it make sense for the new therapised doctor to be willing to give out info about himself but that coupled with him giving her the key at the end of the ep is like hm i maybe woulda preferred her to find out misc stuff over time? not just have his life story dumped on her when they've just met??? idrk.

with prev eras, that stuff came over time or with 13 the fam finding out about where the doctor was from was a big thing bc it took a whole season and also there was meaning behind it, she was just telling them to get them to stop asking. where as this doesn't feel as deep? it felt, like i said, more about telling the audience than about anything else. even if it does make sense he'd be willing to be open bc of his new therapised self and also the fact him and ruby relate in certain ways so he might feel closer to her quicker

the exact same phone trick that nine did with rose is so... another thing that's like okay fine and also that rose scene was 19yrs ago now so it's not like it happened recently but it being by the same writer is like maybe think of something new. at least the scenes weren't in the same context like with nine and rose it was right after a fight but this was more chill

I Feel You Linger in the Air Novel vs Series

I guess this is a thing I do now. Anyway, I feel like most people who posted about the novel were understandably focused on the ending, but this will be all over the place, full spoilers, this is for if you're interested in how it was adapted but don't actually want to read the novel. I would say I preferred the series since it took full advantage of being a visual medium and also because of the way it expanded on the story.

So the series only covered the first part of the novel, with Jom being transported back to 1928. The novel is first person from Jom's point of view and we really only get Jom adjusting to life in the past and his relationship to Yai.

Jom figures out he's in the past pretty quickly. There's also a mistaken identity thing so he never has to pretend to have amnesia.

Ueangphueng is still his sister's past life, but she's not Yai's sister, just a random neighbor married to Robert and not in a relationship to Mei. Ming is still in love with Mei but she's going to marry someone else, this is just a random thing not important to the plot. Fongkaew's story is kind of similar to the series and so is Khamsaen's, but there's no plot with Robert having done crimes etc. so she and Ueangphueng are just stuck being married to him and having his kids. James is there and flirty with Jom but there's no gay bar. Jom's piglet belongs to Robert and loses the race due to banana shenanigans, I'm sure you were dying to know.

Yai Palathip is 18 and going to be sent off for school and never gets engaged, instead his non-Ueangphueng sister does (happily it seems). No one finds out about Jom and Yai when Jom starts working for him, so there's not really homophobia they deal with, but also no support. They also barely get time together as lovers before Yai gets ripped into the past.

Jom gets transported to the 18th century (I think?) and meets Moustache Commander Yai. I won't go into much of what happens since it's not relevant to the series, but this Yai has no existing connection to Jom, so basically this part is Jom realizing he needs Yai to fall in love with him, which of course is successful because that explains why 1920s Yai was in love with him from the first moment. This is the Yai that gives Jom the tiger ring. Also there is stuff about personal pronouns used in the past: catnip to me.

Jom gets sent back to the present, but weirdly right before the accident. He doesn't check his phone this time but still goes into the River, he just manages to be in slightly better circumstances and gets rescued (by a foreign doctor, my theory is James reincarnated, although there is nothing to support this). He still has the tiger ring on so he knows it wasn't all a dream. When he returns to work on the renovation, he's given a key to a box in the trunk, which has his phone, the letter he wrote (not a letter from Yai), and the theater tickets Jom and Yai never got to use. Then he's told he needs to meet the son of the lady renovating the house, who is Yai Kanthorn of the present day.

1st special is a cute scene of Yai Palathip interacting with his nieces and nephews many years after Jom's disappearance. He became a judge and the family is prosperous because of Jom's advice about the future.

The 2nd special explains that present day Yai is a decendent of Lek, 1920s Yai's brother, so that's how he ended up also being called Yai. His adoptive mom/aunt is Yai's heir, tasked with giving Jom (as far as she knows just a random person of his full name) a key to the box in the chest. She sees his name in an article about a renovation which is why she insisted on hiring him. Yai sees Jom's picture in the article and remembers his past lives, so he goes to Thailand to find Jom.

The 3rd special is Yai and Jom in the present being boyfriends and getting engaged.

There is absolutely no explanation of why Jom time traveled.

Shows I finished in 2024 so far...

A Good Day to be a Dog - A woman accidentally kisses her co-worker and turns into a dog during the night due to a family curse. She has to get her co-worker to kiss her as a dog to break stay human full-time or she will permanently remain a dog after 100 days. The first two-thirds were fun hijinks and a cute romance. The final third with the past life curse origin was a drag. Still upset the mountain god didn't apologize after wrongly punishing the wrong people due to his misunderstanding.

My Demon - A high powered business woman becomes entangled with a deal-making demon when she saves him and his powers transfer to her. This show stole plot heavily from shows like Goblin and Doom at Your Service and failed to do make those concepts their own. However, I still enjoyed it to the end, mostly due to the chemistry between the leads. They had such a fun and lively relationship.

The Story of Park's Marriage Contract - A Joseon-era bride who is widowed on her wedding day is transported to the future where she falls for a man who looks exactly like her dead husband. The story was okay but I was mainly here for the chemistry between the leads.

Fixer Upper: Hotel - Chip and Jo work their magic on an entire hotel. I love seeing the process and the design is beautiful as always.

Memorist - A detective who can see people's thoughts when he touches them teams up with a genius profiler to take down murders. As mysteries unfold and truths are revealed, everything is not as it seems forcing them to confront their traumatic pasts. I binged this in 4 days. The first half is dark but, just when I thought I had the villains pegged, the story opens up to explore the various sides of people to reveal the good, the bad, and the morally grey. I'm still thinking about this months later. I especially loved our detective/profiler team. I really want to rewatch.

Be Melodramatic - This a satire on the entertainment industry, grief, motherhood, and love that is done with 100% deadpan humor which is why I thought the concepts were interesting but fell flat due to not connecting with the humor. This took me almost 9 months to finish.

Death's Game - A man kills himself and then is given 12 chances to survive in someone else's body or he will be sent to hell. It's an anti-suicide version of A Christmas Carol. It was okay. While a host of great actors shine in their guest roles, it was maddening that the man didn't seem to learn along the way until the last body. Where the story ended felt like a copout. If this were a movie where you don't have much time, I would understand, but I wanted to see what would happen next. We needed just one more episode.

Marry My Husband - A woman with terminal cancer is murdered by her husband and best friend who were having an affair, when she is transported back in time before she was married to change her fate and find the love she deserves. This was such a great revenge story. Some of the best villains in kdramaland. A cute romance with a man who adores her. Real friendships. And the OSTs will stick with you.

Queen of Divorce - It started off okay but went downhill quickly. Honestly, such a waste of a great cast.

Daisy Jones & The Six - An interesting look at a fictional 70s rock band as they rise to the top before flaming out. I had listened to the audiobook but I liked the series better.

Doctor Slump - Two young doctors who were academic rivals in high school find themselves grappling with depression and fall in love as they heal together. This was a solid, even keel show for me. I enjoyed their healing journey and their romance.

Live Your Own Life - An outcast chaebol whose parents died in a mysterious car crash falls for his hardworking trainer who needs to learn to become independent from her family. I watched this 50-episode family drama for Ha Joon. There were some interesting things that kept me watching but it was just okay.

Princess Hours - The crown prince and a young artist, who are both high school seniors, navigate the complexities of an arranged marriage and court politics in modern day Korea. This was a really interesting study in how people can change and grow and fall in love as they grapple with the expectations of a nation. It's an old school kdrama and alot is meant to be inferred. It's almost as much about what is not shown or said as much as what is which was frustrating at times. However, when someone explained things, everything started to click for me and I saw all the things that were implied increasing my enjoyment.

Wedding Impossible - A gay chaebol asks his best friend to marry him to hide his sexuality from everyone. His brother who wants him to marry someone else for his own good decides to break them up by seducing his brother's fiance. It's a ridiculous premise with a fun, bickering enemies to lovers couple. It lags a bit in the last part but I still enjoyed this romance. Moon Sang Min is a new fave.

High School King of Savvy - A high school hockey player is asked by his older brother to pretend to be him at his job as a corporate executive while he investigates something nefarious. The high schooler then has to juggle both school and work life as he unexpectedly falls for his brother's secretary. This is a crazy, age-gap romance with Seo In Guk. The only reason the romance works is because both the leads are so pure hearted and kind. Lee Soo Hyuk is doing his best sexy, self-sabotaging second male lead, who even smiles! It was a bit much but it settled down in the second half and I loved the big found family feel of the cast.

The Smile Has Left Your Eyes - The first half was interesting with many characters’ selfish and dark intentions mixed with a little mystery were set up in contrast to our optimistic, self-sacrificing female lead. However, the second half drowned in major events happening and then being dismissed as if they never happened, multiple secret keepers refusing to tell the secret multiple times an episodes even when asked point blank when the answers could stop so many bad things from happening, and the existential dread I felt about what the big reveal was going to be only for it to completely dismissed. I knew this was a tragedy going in but still I felt angry and exhausted by the end.

Vigilante - A police university student decides to take the law into his own hands after his mother's murderer is let back on the streets to avenge her and other's like her who have been failed by the justice system. A manhunt for him ensues, bringing together an unlikely and at times unhinged group who decides to reveal the truth and bring justice. At 8 episode (six hours total), it felt like it was just starting to gel by the end. Definitely set up for more potential seasons after Nam Joo Hyuk gets out of the military.

Love Me Love Me Voice - A newer voice actor and singer is one day noticed online by her secretive voice acting idol and a whirlwind courtship begins. These are the sweetest, kindest people ever. I love how the dramatic readings and song performances are seamlessly woven into the story. Multiple romances, great friendships, mouthwatering food, and beautiful locals. This is a feel good story of first love.

What do you think of Gascoigne and Viola?

Sorry for falling out on the cute ships headcanons asks, I am not used to receiving many;; But it is one of my favourite ships, actually! Not only because I am a huge sucker for ships that are actually established in canon, but also because they are just so... committed? Two children, in the middle of all this chaos?

🪓 Viola's dress is very similar to that of black Church saints/doctors, and I felt like it was an implication rather than devs being 'lazy', since not only there was an effort put into altering, but also Viola's model is unique so it is not like they reused a corpse. Whatever it is, but I think that both her and Gascoigne ditched the Healing Church - whereas still wearing the evidence of former affiliation to it. Gascoigne wears the holy shawl disrespectfully, like a shawl, and Viola cropped the dress for her convenience x) They are a sassy couple!

🎶 I like to think Viola copes with reality through raw hope, more often than not vocal about her plans about 'what we do when nights of the hunt are over' and 'where will the girls go when they grow up'. Sometimes it makes Gascoigne angry as he doesn't believe in future anymore and he has to hold back from snapping at her, other times it is the only thing that can cheer him up. He struggles to form bonds as 'everyone will become beast anyways' but Viola prefers to cherish these bonds while they last! Whatever he struggles with, if she can tone it down that's what matters. This attitude calms him often, he wishes he met more genuinely good and hopeful people like her back when he was a Father back in his home place! Inside he's troubled that in his eyes he cannot offer enough in return besides protecting her at all cost since she is not quite a hunter herself lol. As result, he constantly does nice things to her, gifts and more chores help than required and getting her whatever she as much as casually mentions, not realizing that the nicest thing he could do for her is to 'slack' on the hunt at least sometimes...

🪓 The name for the younger daughter is Dorothy, and the older Sally! Suggested by @val-of-the-north, I liked the names!

🎶 Viola kinda pouts at Gascoigne (and Henryk, who I believe is the 'grandpa' that Dorothy mentioned) for bringing his friends (the League) over, because thanks to Valtr Sally fucking wants to become a cop now -_-" Whereas Dorothy is scared of him. Viola and Valtr are having sass battle about his "bad influence" on the kids, and Gascoigne really loves seeing Viola passionate and strict like this. He thinks she is the most adorable when she is protective of her children, in big things or small.

🪓 The couple is always welcoming other people who got disillusioned about Healing Church and ready to give them advice and assistance (or even temporary shelter and social resources, depending on how much remaining Church people were pissed at the "traitor"). Henriett is one of such people, actually! I also have this awkward headcanon that both Gascoigne and Viola had the complicated period of finding her rather attractive and wrestling with themselves to not invite her in their.... ....activities uhhh. They had Guilt TM about simping for someone while being married, it is all that darn Catholic past, man. The crisis kinda subdued though and for now Henriett is just a good friend of the family! She is even a lot like an auntie for the daughters, too!

🎶 I am not downvoting the interpretation that Gascoigne killed Viola - it still has a powerful gut-punch about what that darn blood and hunt does! And it would work with importance of Viola forgetting the Music Box that tends to calm Gascoigne. But in my headcanons, Gascoigne did not do that. @heraldofcrow quite sold me on the version that murdering Viola was all part of Bloody Crow's twisted plan to drive Gascoigne, Henryk and Eileen mad (in this order)! But even if that is not included, I think it'd be huntsmen that attacked her. In either case, in my thing, Gascoigne broke because Viola was murdered, rather than murdering Viola because he broke. I am allowed one 'forgetting Music Box was just a gameplay thing and some things are so nice that blood and hunt can't ruin them' ticket!!!!

🪓 Gascoigne was actually very much distressed when his body started to show signs of beasthood. Body fur, eyes irises going white in color and vision worsening, nails becoming claws, ears sharpening... He even wanted to leave the family and go die somewhere far away, for their own safety. But Viola, knowing his habits very well, was able to identify something wrong and managed to pull the truth out of him.. She reassured him it was going to be fine, optimistic person that she is, was very loving and accepting about his metamorphoses after getting him to show her what changed, kissed him where body went 'beastly', all that. Her love and optimism actually did win him some time before going more insane.

🎶 The Music Box is actually a wedding gift from Henryk! Playing Mergo's Lullaby, it was his link to his mysterious heritage, and the reason he sought Byrgenwerth's help back then. Henryk liked Gascoigne, but never thought to confess him and Gascoigne already turned out to be in love with his adopted daughter, which of course ruined his chances and he just kept the secret between himself and Valtr. However, when Sally was born, Henryk was so happy that his broken heart got mended. They are still on very good terms, though!

🪓 Gascoigne and Viola really love doing things together, and moreover, to teach each other what they're good at! Like how Gascoigne could teach Viola to chop the wood and Viola could teach him to do knitting and embroidery. As a result, they share skills, just that one is a bit better at a skill than the other. Their daughters actually copied the dynamic of their parents here - having mostly different hobbies and vibes, they also teach one another! It is about a good example.

If it looks like it was created mostly from the curtains... well, it is because it WAS. Still, not bad for a guy who is supposedly only skilled at swinging his axe, is it? x)

🪓 They actually at times could spend hours simply chilling with each other, idly talking about good memories they shared or complimenting one another. In some days, Gascoigne will be aloof and irritable, too occupied with the thoughts of incoming night of the hunt, but even then he will be able to say a lot of nice things about how much he cares about the safety of her and the girls. They just do not get bored about ruminating on their relationship and how good their dynamics can be despite some conflicts. A type that would still have romantic dates even years into marriage in a happier setting. Again, because they just do not get 'bored'!

🎶 They both love books (Gascoigne even wrote some in his past, as a Father!), but at the same time enjoy different genres. What Gascoigne likes and wrote is more along Russian classic novels (Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, all that). You know, the Depressing Literature TM about society, war, politics, and singular people it effected. But what Viola likes is epic novels and often containing rather satirical, ruthless commentaries. However, in general Viola is about 'saying a lot with a few words' in a book, whereas Gascoigne adores the usage of full language's potential in detailed descriptions. They like discussing the books they like with one another, and sometimes their opinions on what makes a good book get so different that it becomes a passionate debate.

🪓 Viola is a type of a mom that would like her children to have hobbies and excell at something - music, art, sport, anything. And Gascoigne is a type of a dad that is concerned about his children, first of all, being street-smart and having practical skills in life. The daughters are growing up to be both resourceful and rich with interests! Lol don't you just LOVE the fact that the only way they could survive is if the Hunter doesn't even try to help? :')

heyo! i’m trans neutral but have reaaally been wanting to get a hysterectomy at some point in the near future (like <10yrs preferably), do you have posts from the past talking about what yours was like or got any general info to share? somehow it’s easier for me to read about peoples’ personal experiences on tumblr than it is to look up the procedure itself (major major squicking) so really i’ll take anything and everything you got. how much of That Organ Situation you managed to throw in the garbage can (i personally would like as much of that as possible out of my own carcass), how long recovery was after the surgery, sort of what the process looked like to get it done (like who you had to go through or any tests like seeing a g*no), etc etc etc. i’m on mobile so tumblr is kicking my paragraph break like halfway down the screen rn which is why this is a thick blob of words but thank you in advance for any advice you have or even just for reading this message :>

Prep work

I did some internet searching to find a trans friendly OB/GYN in my area. It was actually pretty easy since I was living in Austin at the time, but ymmv. If you, too, are anywhere near Austin, I highly recommend Dr. Jenna Mushtaler. I told her what I wanted done and she basically went Cool, let's do it. It sounds like this won't apply to you, but I needed a total hysterectomy (removal of the uterus, cervix, and both ovaries) to get phalloplasty, and also my mom & her sister have both had tumors and/or cancers in those parts, so there was plenty of medical justification for it. If you're not transitioning and don't have other extenuating circumstances like PCOS or teratomas, you'll probably be given a standard hysto, which does not remove the ovaries; otherwise you'll be on HRT for the rest of your life (which isn't such a bad thing, it's just an extra thing).

I had to get I think two letters from mental health professionals, but that's a gatekeeping step non-transitioning folk aren't forced to endure.

Note that if you're under 35 and in the US, you may get pushback, but that's where going to a trans-friendly doctor comes in handy because they're less likely to piss and moan about children.

I asked the doctor if I could get one of my ovaries in a specimen jar, but that was a no go.

I'm pretty sure they made me take a piss test for pregnancy right before surgery, which was just lip service really in my case since I hadn't done anything that could conceivably lead to that in almost a year.

Right after surgery

I was kept overnight in the hospital. I woke up about once an hour to piss like a racehorse—they kept me pumped full of fluids all night, so that was the intention—while being gently made fun of by two jovial nurses who disconnected and reconnected my IV lines for me as needed.

I went home the next morning. My doctor gave me photos of my insides from the surgery and of the uterus & cervix on the little tray after removal. I still need to get those framed. In my opinion I have a cute liver.

Recovery

I was out of work for I think 4 weeks; I work an office job so that was sufficient, but if you lift things at work you might be out 6-8 weeks.

The first two weeks I was absolutely useless, sleeping in a recliner most of the time and only waking up to pee and take more Vicodin. Some friends gave me a freezer buddy, which is a stuffed toy filled with temperature-retaining pellets (mine's a penguin!), which I kept on my lower belly most of the time. I didn't have a lot of soreness, I think largely because I was taking pain meds on a timer, but standing up was not particularly fun. The second two weeks I was more cogent and mobile; by the fourth week I was fully ready to be a living person again.

One week after I had a follow-up appointment. My doctor comfirmed what I had suspected for a very, very long time: both ovaries were riddled with cysts.

One thing that kinda sucked was I could only take sponge baths and use dry shampoo for the first two weeks. Get you some wet wipes.

Every so often for the first year, I'd get a little bit of pain in one of the voids where an ovary used to be. Nothing serious, just a short-lived little ache. I haven't had one of those for a few years now. I also had a few hot flashes here and there because my estrogen level had fully flatlined.

Overall it was a pretty easy recovery—but a big part of that is I had someone there with me pretty much at all times.

There has been exactly one downside to life without my puppy box and cyst factories: I have to pee ALL THE TIME. Usually once every 1-2 hours, sometimes more often than that when I'm drinking a lot of water. I talked to my mom and a friend who've both had hysterectomies and they confirmed it happened to them too. I drink 3-5 liters of water a day, though, so that's a factor. But I could definitely not make it in an Amazon warehouse or as a youtuber now, not that I could before. 1000000000% worth it.

Brothers Conflict (Brilliant Blue) Part 7 - ??? Ending & Overall Impressions

I completely forgot about that Wataru event where he tries to take care of Ema when she's sick and forgot what the "gu" part of the charm was to make her feel better so he swings her around thinking that's it🤣🤣 I love how childish but cute Yusuke is to steal the last piece of karaage from Wataru but end up giving it back to him anyway, he's so adorable hahaha. He's too much of a softie to really bully Wataru. Tsubaki on the other hand though, legit ate that karaage and felt no guilt over it🤣 Their peaceful family dinner life is so sweet haha. Awww I love how they were looking at photos of the past and started thinking about what everyone would be like in the future, especially the ones who haven't started their careers yet. Subaru as a pro basketball player is basically expected, just the same with Fuuto as a celebrity, but dangg Iori as a cool salaryman in a suit is like 👌👌 The cutest thing though is Wataru wanting to be a vet because he's been influenced by Masaomi and wants to be as cool as him in helping sick people/animals who are sick, such a good boy🥺 Yusuke as a policeman would be so cool!! He's so kind and thoughtful, he would be a great policeman! Lmao when they started fighting over Ema being their wife in the future🤣

Anyway...time for the ??? aka secret route/ending~ Spoilers ahead obviously but it's basically the Juli ending! I honestly find it hilarious that the squirrel has a route, like this is a pretty wild game, not only does the 10 year old have a route but even the squirrel does!! What a world🤣 I've always wondered why Juli calls Ema "chi" and it's actually because he used to call her "ochibi-chan" since he's been with her since she was a child and she was a little girl hahahah. LMAO when Juli said he couldn't trust the brothers because they're all like in heat all year round😂😂😂 Anyway, I always love the harem ending. It's not a traditional harem ending like you would expect, but more like a Ema is officially celebrated as a new family member in the Asahina family and I think this ending always warms my heart the most. Yeah, it's nice when you fall in love with a guy and everything, but I think for me and for Ema who was always alone, having all these brothers celebrate her existence in this family and be so happy that she's here just makes it so touching. The idea that so many people in this world love you and want you to be there in their life and be a part of their family is so much more meaningful, and although the guys feel this way in every route, seeing them all together tell and show her that she is important makes this ending really sweet.

Let me just say, I was expecting a happy squirrel ending and not a Juli turns into a human one lol! To be fair though, when Ema kept asking Juli if he would be beside her forever, I felt sad because if he's been with her since she was a child, he's definitely like 10+ years old and wouldn't be able to live "forever" with her, so I guess this is the only way for them to truly be together forever. I didn't expect Juli to be such a pretty boy though! He's definitely more of a "younger brother" type haha! He looks like a butler with the gloves and stuff hahaha! I love how Juli was proving to Ema that he's Juli by saying everything he knows about her, and then he tries to say her three sizes😂😂😂 Why does the squirrel know her bust size and everything so well!!😂😂 HAHAHA, I love how Ema is trying to tell everyone her squirrel turned into a human and Fuuto is like, introduce a good doctor to her please, she's really become an idiot😂😂😂 It's so funny how the brothers call Juli "former squirrel" or basically "ex-squirrel" instead of his name😂😂 I can't, I'm dying from Juli calling Kaname something like a sinful monk and then saying Subaru is filled with perverted desires in his head, it was so funny when Yusuke said he was disappointed in Subaru😂😂 Seeing Juli go around talking to the brothers hoping that they would take care of Ema well into the future makes me wonder if Juli is actually dying and his last wish was to make sure that Ema will be okay even if he's not there anymore😭😭😭 Anyway, love how Juli told Subaru how much he respected him for working so hard training all the time and everything, and then asked him how he has so much time for his perverted delusions😂😂😂 I don't blame Subaru for hitting Juli on the head for it😂😂 I love how Tsubaki is so weird that Juli can only tell Ema to be careful around him😂 HAHAHA, Tsubaki and Kaname are such a riot, they made Hikaru and Natsume come all the way here just to show them that the squirrel has turned into a human😂😂😂 I love how Yusuke tells Juli that Ema doesn't sleep in class like it's something we should applaud for when everyone thinks that's expected😂 Fuuto knowing that a lot of people have asked Ema out in school is very amusing😏😏

I honestly thought this ending with Juli was going to be weird and awkward like it was with Wataru but I guess when you think about it, Juli has always been there for Ema. He's cared for her, watched out for her, spent so much time with her and loved her that it actually feels very natural to see them get along so well and enjoy their time together. It was so cute how he was talking with squirrels about how good Ema's cooking is, it's so sweet. I don't blame Ema for locking herself in her room after she heard that Juli would disappear. Juli's been there with her the most out of everyone, he's closer to her than her dad is, and she's never really thought about the idea of him ever going somewhere else, so hearing that must have shocked her alot. It's childish and it's worrying for the others, but it's understandable. I wanna say "why am I crying over a squirrel?!" But Juli isn't just a squirrel. It was so touching to hear that back in the day, Juli was troubled over being able to understand humans but them not being able to understand him, so when he met Ema, he realised how much fun life could be. I guess it was expected, but it was sweet to know that Juli knew Kenji (Ema's real father) and it was because he was there when he died that he asked Juli to take care of his daughter and give her happiness in his place, and to not leave her alone all by herself😭😭😭 Juli the idiot😭😭😭 I couldn't hold back my tears when he said Ema has a family now, right, and that Kenji's wish had now been granted...and that his duty has been accomplished. I'm glad Ema told him that it's impossible for her to be happy without Juli there with her. I'm still so sad that Juli had to disappear like that but it was expected since Juli would never be able to live as long as her and this should be considered a happy ending since he actually got to tell her his thoughts and feelings before he died but still😭😭😭😭 On the other hand, I'm missing two CGs so I can't unlock Juli's epilogue which really sucks because I really don't want to go looking for those CGs considering how much of a hassle the schedule system is tbh, but I read that it's just Ema going to see the cherry blossoms and treasuring her memories of Juli in her heart from now on or something which is expected but so very bittersweet.

Overall Brilliant Blue is definitely not as nice as Passion Pink but that's mainly due to the lower number of LIs than the writing quality itself. Surprisingly, Juli's ending is literally only 4 days but those 4 days made me love him even more and I definitely enjoyed it more than Wataru and Iori's routes lol! In order of best to worst, Natsume, Ukyo, Azusa, Rui/Louis, Juli, Iori-Wataru. I can't choose between Iori or Wataru being the worst because I really didn't like Iori's route, but at the same time, I didn't like Wataru's route because even though it was very tame and innocent, it still felt weird because of the romantic connotations. Anyway, I'd say Brilliant Blue is still great because Natsume and his route singlehandedly made me think this whole thing was worth it hahaha, he was so much better than I expected in terms of personality and his route. I loved every bit of it because he was mature, kind and very thoughtful of everyone around him. Ukyo had an iffy ex-girlfriend but I still enjoyed his route because he felt much more vulnerable and human, and I enjoyed seeing him feel like he could open up about his past to someone without feeling like he needs to bottle it away because he needs to be the mature older brother to everyone. Azusa's route was lacking in areas especially when he went to the hospital but I still loved his internal struggle of not being able to find a place for himself even though he seems so capable. Rui was very sweet, but his voice really made me fall asleep at times lmao. And yep Juli made me cry, so best boy/squirrel! 

Honestly, I'm probably biased because this is the first ever game/series I've finished completely in Japanese but I'll definitely give Brothers Conflict a 9/10! As I've said before, there's such a great selection of LIs and their routes are all so different that there's bound to be at least one you'll love, for me though, I probably love half of them even if their routes weren't always the best, but their personalities and common events with the other brothers make up for it, so I'll still love them, maybe not Fuuto though, that little jerk LOL. As for my ultimate best boy to least favourite, it would be in the order of Yusuke-Natsume, Tsubaki, Ukyo, Subaru, Masaomi, Azusa, Rui/Louis, Kaname, Hikaru, Juli, Fuuto, Iori-Wataru. Honestly, I can't pick between Yusuke or Natsume. Yusuke is just the perfect amount of silly, nice, earnest and fun guy that grows alongside Ema, I just can't pick anyone above him hahaha. Natsume is still the best and definitely the best in terms of the older brothers, such a kind and perfect guy so I can't pick anyone over him too hahaha! Anyway, with like 14 routes, this is one of the longest games I've played (I spent 165 hours on this lmao) but so so worth it, especially if you want to practise your beginner level Japanese because it's actually very easy to understand most of the time. The main thing I hate about this game though is the schedule. I don't think I've planned out my one year in real life as much as I did with this schedule, like yeah I followed a walkthrough but dang when the walkthrough didn't go as expected and I got the wrong endings, I wanted to bang my head on the wall redoing that whole year again for that guy lolll. Still love the game though and would totally recommend. I would definitely love to play everyone's routes again in the future, maybe just not Iori and Wataru hahaha, oh and Fuuto🤭

that fight with dean being in denial about bobby possibly dying and leaving sam alone in the hospital.. just got the mental calculation of how realistic is this type of clash, but then okay my dad died from cancer when i was 16, he was at home with hospice care. but my mom.. she died when i was 32. in the hospital, from cancer.

me and my brother were out there, she lived in az and i was in minnesota at the time, my brother in new england. she checked into the hospital for some biopsies and then rapidly declined and died 2 weeks later. we didn't even know she had cancer before then. so we were with her the last week. obviously real life is different from a show.

but i did have a moment where i had to leave. my brother was trying to help my mom have some ice chips but she was really so out of it, she couldn't deal with a solid in her mouth and she started choking. brought up one of the worst memories of when my dad was sick. mom woke me up, frantic, pulled me downstairs because my dad couldn't breathe and he was trying to sign something to her in ASL in the alphabet but she didn't know the letters. he was saying he couldn't breathe.

anyway. this show manages to jab me in the dead parents feelings routinely.

Leliana/Cassandra/Josephine, Leliana/Cassandra/Vivienne, Leliana/Cassandra/Inquisitor: A lot of what I said above could also work here: Josie also has a past with Leliana at least, it’s possible Vivienne could have met them both, and the Inquisitor could fall for them together. Or this is also making me think about scenarios where two team up to comfort or rescue the other and there are feelings (huddling for warmth after Haven? sandstorm in the desert? someone gets captured or lost? someone out of her depth in Val Royeaux society? Cassandra dealing with her family? the Inquisitor losing her hand? or someone just having a bad day and the other two improving it).

I'm fine with however you want to picture/characterize the Inquisitor if you include her; also fine with whatever world state and time frame in Thedas you want. Random bonus prompt: I also find the Deep Roads, Adamant, the Fade, Nevarra, Serault, and the abandoned chateaux in the Emerald Graves particularly interesting, if you feel inspired to stick these pairings/trios into one of those places somehow.

I was very fond of Tala and wish there was so much more of her, especially in an f/f context (whether that’s fic, or art, or if you’re inspired to make a vid, that would be cool as well). And if you feel like including NED-B and/or her platonic relationship with Leia somehow, I also loved their interactions.

Reva Sevander/Tala Durith So, they’re both secretly working against the Empire for kind of opposite reasons, and they had some tension in that scene where they meet on the base, and I’d like something exploring that or where they interact more (have they run into each other previously? if Tala doesn’t die in the explosion might she find Reva after Vader stabs her? might their paths cross in the future post-show? might she help Reva turn away from the dark side?)

Tala Durith/OFC Alternatively, I’d like to see Tala get to be happy with someone, whether that’s sometime pre-canon (someone else she helped on the Path? someone from further in her past? someone who left NED-B with her?) or in a fix-it situation where she gets to carry on her resistance work instead of sacrificing herself.

Moving Target is a Big Finish audio drama set pre-Torchwood where all of Earth is frozen in time except Suzie and this other woman Alex, who is the random target of a group of alien sport hunters, and Suzie ends up helping her fight them off one at a time for an indefinite period while the world stays frozen and a robot referee taunts them. It can be found here: https://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/torchwood-moving-target-1392  I was delighted by how the premise combines a bunch of tropes I’m into (forced circumstantial intimacy, grumpy one/cheerful one, bodyguarding, weird timey-wimey shit, postapocalyptic-ish survival), and it had Suzie trying to be a hero for a while, and this all had me shipping them, up until the ending, at which I was very “nooo!”

Therefore, I would love some fic where they get together (at some point during this or instead of the canon ending?) and either things get resolved another way, or it’s suggested they might find another way out.

Plot:

Olivia Schwartz is Type A to the max. Entering a research contest with her friend, Olivia was flabbergasted when her parents sprung a last-minute cruise on her. Finding herself on what is essentially a floating city, The Regal Island SS NY Sea, is a seven-day cruise around the tropics, to give the family a long-needed vacation. This cruise is special due to its children zone which provides personal aid for Olivia’s younger twin brothers who are on the autism spectrum. Even though Olivia is probably more qualified, given the amount of research she has done for them. After losing her older brother days before her eleventh birthday from a heart attack, Olivia has become a doomsday bomb, always looking at the worst-case scenarios for the twins, and herself. Thus, why do her parents think she needs a cruise, even inviting her childhood friend, Jules along with her family - thinking this will be good for Olivia. Jules is not like Olivia expected, into drugs and always has a flask on her, Jules insists they find themselves a crew to hang out with for the week. Meeting the boys, Olivia was instantly drawn to Sebastian. A fellow music lover, Sebastian was a dreamboat of a guy, interested in Olivia for her brain, and allowed her to talk about Logan, the brother her parents seem to have forgotten. Sebastian challenged Olivia to take the risk and live in the moment, something Logan would have also wished for her to do. With a cruise expedition to a shipwreck site off of Antigua, a country Logan promised to take her to one day, Olivia realizes there's more than this ship can offer besides cheesy NYC stuff and expensive expeditions. It offers the opportunity for love, to live in the moment, to connect to her past, and experience heartbreak for the first time.

Thoughts:

Lauren Kay starts their writing career with this banger of a YA novel. Taken from the first-person perspective of Olivia, we get a courageous smarty-pants, who despite always thinking of the worst outcomes, is trying to give life a change. Within this story, we kind of get two Olivias; Olivia who is dealing with the emotions of her family life, and trying to ensure that she does not forget Logan, despite feeling like her family has. Using her future in a way to save him, as her reason for becoming a doctor is to figure out what killed Logan at such a young age. This family dynamic and family history made the story emotionally interesting, although I wish Kay gave us more Logan stories throughout the novel. It seems as if Olivia only reflected on him a bit throughout the novel, where more history about their relationship could have made it more emotionally devastating, as Kay kind of breezed through the depression that Olivia probably went through for years after Logan’s death. Plus the issue of feeling like her parents replace Logan with the twins? So much more emotion could have come out of that. Now the second Olivia (aka Liv) is our love-at-first-sight, romantic girl, who after three days on the cruise with Sebastian, was calculating how they could make a long-distance relationship work. My girl, Olivia, come on! You hardly know the guy, a statement Jules thankfully said throughout the novel. In a cringy way, we got to see Olivia fall hard for a guy she barely knows, and despite his winning personality, he made her open up while keeping himself closed. The love bomb was real, but so was Olivia not being able to read signs, and where it was entertaining to read, you honestly just felt bad for our naive girl for falling hard for a player. With these two Olivia storylines running parallel, it made the book an easy read, and where I do not dock Kay for these typical plot points, I just wish she dove more into the emotional side of the family more, and a little bit less on the perfection Sebastian in Olivia’s eyes.

Would I Survive the First Five Minutes??: I saw this in a doctor who once. Though those mannequins didn’t have faces so weren’t nearly as creepy. It was also aliens, not ghosts…I’d probably be dead

Also, Sam’s not dead, so that’s good!! 2-3 minutes in hell feels like a week

Dean no. There’s gotta be a middle ground between fully kicking down the wall in Sam’s mind and suppressing everything til it boils up in violence and alcoholism

Watching Dean say goodbye to the life he had with Lisa and Ben is a little bit of a gut punch. Ben admired him so much, but Dean doesn’t think he’s someone to be admired at all for anything

So...here's one of the things about the Moffat era. I think a lot of his plots rely on the shock of the mystery, but if you remember that the scientist is a sort of Dalek hybrid or is a Dalek or has been brainwashed by the Daleks, much of the plot becomes kinda boring

Goddddd Matt looks so young. I mean...it's because he is and this was like 13 years ago (a true gut punch of a sentence to write).

I think it's hilarious that they slapped the Union Flag on a Dalek. How extremely like them. See something from another land? another planet even? Just put the Union Flag on it...it's property of Britain now.

Blue Birthday - Episode 15

I just realized that... I still have three more episodes left and ugh no. There was a new picture time frame shown during last episode. How much you bet Seojun’s going back to save her? If they’re both alive by the end of this I don’t know, it’s not even cute anymore. And if saves her in three episodes while she took 13 to actually save him... what a disappointment and a waste of time. Oh never mind, only two. I messed up somewhere, somehow.

The point of view now changes onto Seojun and we get the most dramatic acting here, when he tries to reach her when the ambulance takes her away. Good, no coma, she really is dead. Hopefully she doesn’t get saved. Now I want to know if Hyemin is still alive. Because Harin was under her during their fall. Everyone is super sad about Harin.

Hyemin isn’t dead. Well not her body, but the doctors say she’s brain dead. So she’s the one going through coma. The detectives are probably still investigating and mom is a bear protecting her child. She’s upset that they suspect her and argues that it’s bad to say that in front of someone who’ll never wake up again... Say that to Kim Sinwoo’s parents. Because that kid is fully dead, brain and body. Seojun feels bad for his mom and takes all of the blame.

So he finds a picture and decides to travel back in time. As expected. Oh actually, it doesn’t work. It seems he tried to burn a few pictures, without success. Oh but... maybe, the magic camera fell on that they were trying to find the sculpting knife. Maybe it took a picture and he can burn it. I mean, that’s probably what is going to happen. He ends up trying to commit suicide, but then a memory of Harin seems to stop him. I mean, he doesn’t really want to die and disappear (not that it would change a thing to what happened and it would only make his mother sad). And then he thinks of exactly what I just said. Photo developing, photo burning, back to the past on that day Harin died.

As soon as he gets there, he gets a call that her sister escaped and when Harin calls him to say that Hyemin is back to the past, he tells her to leave school so she won’t go after her and that he will find the proof himself. Harin almost gets killed while she tries to save a puppy. Meanwhile, Seojun finds the knife. Hyemin gets to school, but when she wants to grab the Follenir in her locker, she finds a note telling her to go to the art room.

Seojun tries to tell her to turn herself in so they don’t hurt their parents any further. But she’s gone crazy already. He tells her she’s going to die in the future he saw before he burnt a picture like she did. She says she doesn’t care and that she’ll kill him and all his friends before killing herself. Then he brings her their mom. He tries to convince her again, but she’s way too far down that path. Plus he’s talking to the her who spent ten years in prison, she’s way too broken. What she needed was therapy from the beginning. Like, when they found her back after ten years, they should have sent her to a therapist. Imagine the trauma of a child being lost for ten years. Love alone won’t be enough to heal that kind of pain. Anyways, getting closer was a really stupid move Seojun. But I guess he has a backup plan because the camera focused on their reflection in the window of the art room. At least he’s a little smarter than Harin. They fight, they run for the abandoned knife and then... Someone bleeds, but I don’t know who. I guess Seojun. I don’t know.

Harin felt that there was no more possibility for them to save each other anymore and she runs to I don’t know where.

I don’t have much hopes for the ending. We’ll see when we get there.

me and a friend were talking about how bad i am at DBD, and I would be screwed if the Fog took me, and then I made a small joke about just trying to flirt my way out and being the distraction, and we went off on a ten minute discussion about that. So, how would a few killers of your choice (Yandere, of course) react to a new Survivor who is quite flirtatious and uses it to try to get themselves and the other, more skilled Survivors off the Hook for maybe a few more minutes..? (Apologies if I did request something like this already and forgot, my memory was never my strong suit)

Caleb Quinn | Deathslinger

Caleb is immediately suspicious; anyone that's acted like this in the past usually used him immediately for personal gain.

On the other hand, though, being alone for so long after having a posse to rely on for years does things to a man.

Your distraction is a success, at least for a little while, but once it sits in that you're serious...

...he begins teaching you how to use the Redeemer, using your fellow survivors as target practice.

Caleb towers over you as he corrects your posture, strong hands helping you aim at your fellow survivors, his voice quiet and raspy as he offers praise when you hit someone.

You wind up helping him in the end, after which he praises you for a job well done and offers you to come drink with him at some point in the future. He lets you go, though you're on your own in finding the hatch.

Herman Carter | Doctor

You're definitely taking a risk by talking to Herman in a flirtatious manner. You know it-- he knows it, too. Herman finds you utterly fascinating in this regard.

He returns your flirting in kind, often with morbid promises of experimentation of the pleasurable kind... though with him, that could turn nasty in a heartbeat.

Herman offers you a taste of what's to come, a jolt of electricity dancing from his fingertips to your cheek as he caresses it, the sensation, quite literally, maddening.

You hear the last of the generators come online, the exit gates blaring their alarms. Shit.

You flee, but it's no use-- you see the Doctor everywhere, that singular jolt enough to induce horrible madness.

He catches up with you fast, hauling you over his shoulder. "You're not going to get away from me that easily," he says with a giggle, before lugging you away from the exit, deeper into the Realm.

Anna | Huntress

She has no idea what you're on about, but you're acting cute in her eyes.

Midway through a sentence, she hugs you tight, muttering something in Russian.

If the Realm you encounter her in has a bed, she carries you to one, mentioning for you to stay there.

One by one, though, you hear the others scream. Mission failed.

Anna returns to you just as you leave the bed that she put you in, tilting her head, curious.

You try to throw any and all excuses at her as to why you're getting out of bed, why you're trying to leave, to no avail. Anna backs you into the room, seeming frustrated at your attempt to escape.

She leads you back into the bed, almost throwing you down, before joining you, holding you tight and not letting go.

Michael Myers

You're first met with dead silence.

Then, a slow head-tilt as you continue to flirt with Michael.

He walks away, before bringing you a survivor that he had downed earlier. Michael nudges your hand, mentioning for you to follow.

You do so, following Michael to a hook. He drops the survivor at your feet, standing in silence as he looks from them... to you... and back.

The message is clear: you are to hook them.

You try to lift them, but the dead weight is too much. You collapse under the other survivor, struggling to push them off.

Michael is generous enough to pick the survivor up off of you, but immediately dumps them at your feet when you get back up.

You try again, with more success. You hook the survivor by the scruff of their neck, their scream sounding rather strangled.

Michael is proud of you, though he doesn't verbally express it-- you can still feel him beaming with pride as he seemingly stares at your work in silence.

And it finally clicked as a small gasp wisped past his lips. He wasn't wrong.

In which, Plagg falls ill, and with Fu gone and Ladybug being the guardian now, has to go find her civilian self-even with the knowledge that she might not like that-is shocked to realize that even with having the kwami that was supposed to embodied the very being of bad luck, Adrien could conclude the very opposite of what he had thought for so long.

He was so very lucky.
