After hearing Cherry laugh over Adam slipping in the rain, and Joe following suit, I can agree with everyone now: Cherry needs to have a well deserved mental breakdown, but we of course all mean that lovingly.

there's a quote by cherry:
skateboarding is a dance between gravity and freedom
maybe anyone remembers in which episode he said that? will look for it once I get more time, but maybe by some chance, someone will be able to help me out here
edit: Yeah, it's not in the Japanese dub. At least, I was not able to find it. maybe it doesn't even exist in the series. I don't know

Banana Fish destroyed me. I had a really deep Sk8 the Infinity phase right before, which was a terrible mistake. Sk8 was supposed to be the cure for Banana Fish, so I guess I’m screwed. It hurts to know that the directors for the two shows are the same, and that there’s so many parallel shots.
My Banana Fish experience was pure pain and depression the whole way through. The only times I laughed or had any ounce of joy was episode 11 and the arc where Ash is stuck in the mental institute. I laughed more during AOT than this, if that says anything.
Ash didn’t deserve any of the things that happened to him. He and Eiji should be living together in Japan. Or at the very least, it should’ve ended with Ash heading to the airport.
I actually made a fix it fic on Ao3 after finishing the show to help process my feelings about it. It’s called We’ll Be Safe Now. It’ll make you feel better about what happened.

It is now May and we still haven't heard anything about the adult Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure! sequel that is supposed to air sometime this year. Nothing official or direct has been said about it since the initial announcement over a year ago, but despite that, there have been some bits of information we can piece together about it.
To start off, let's look at the initial announcement back in March 2023. To celebrate the Pretty Cure franchise's 20th anniversary, Toei Animation announced that they would be producing two sequel PreCure anime for adult audiences.
The first one was Kibou no Chikara ~Otona PreCure '23~/Power of Hope ~PreCure Full Bloom~, which was a sequel to the first five PreCure seasons, but primarily Yes! Pretty Cure 5 and Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo! It aired on NHK-E in Fall 2023 for 12 episodes, and was streamed internationally on Crunchyroll.
The second one was tentatively titled "Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure! 2," obviously a sequel to the 13th season of the same name. It was said to air sometime in 2024 on the late night ANiMAZiNG!!!! block. And that's all we ever heard about it since.
ANiMAZiNG!!!!
Let's look at what ANiMAZiNG!!!! actually is. It's an anime programming block from 2:00-2:30AM on Sundays created by the Asahi Broadcasting Corporation with TV Asahi; these networks are the ones responsible for airing PreCure in Japan every Sunday at 8:30AM, so it's familiar territory. ANiMAZiNG!!!! started in October 2020.
Notable anime that aired on this block include: Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie, The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious, The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!, SK8 the Infinity, Iwa-Kakeru! Sport Climbing Girls, I Shall Survive Using Potions!, and Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement.
A 2:00AM slot for PreCure is quite interesting, as even OtonaPre aired on NHK-E as late as Saturday 6:30PM. Despite this, the anime that airs on this block usually isn't too "adult," i.e violent or sexual, so I don't expect MahoPre2 to be anything of the sort. Similarly, the recent Tokyo Mew Mew New aired around midnight, and it wasn't out of the ordinary in terms of content.
With the exception of the Jahy anime, the anime that airs on this block usually does for just one cour, i.e. it has about 11-12 episodes and takes up one seasonal anime slot. We can assume that MahoPre will also have 12 episodes, not just because of this, but also because that was the same amount OtonaPre had. Relatedly, since MahoPre2 is airing on a different network than OtonaPre did, I also think that MahoPre2, when it gets an official title, is probably not going to be under the "Otona" label. OtonaPre aired on NHK-E, the "E" standing for education, and thus was heavily tied in to topics such as climate change and SDGs, of which I don't see MahoPre2 focusing on as much given it will air on a different network that doesn't have such an educational slant (see the other anime that usually airs on ANiMAZiNG!!!!).
At this point in time, the Winter 2024 anime season has long since concluded, and the Spring 2024 season is currently ongoing. So, we know what anime has aired/is airing on ANiMAZiNG!!!! this year so far, but we also have information on a few anime that will air later in the year too, so let's paint a schedule:
The Strongest Tank's Labyrinth Raids — Jan 7 - Mar 24 (Winter 2024)
Tonari no Yokai-san — Apr 7 - TBA (Spring 2024)
??? (Summer 2024)
The Healer Who was Banished From His Party is Actually the Strongest — Starts Oct (Fall 2024)
All of the seasonal slots for ANiMAZiNG!!! this year, except for Summer, have been filled up, and none of them include MahoPre2. On the official site, the poster for the upcoming Summer season is just a blank "Coming Soon." I find it surprising in the case of the Fall slot, because I was expecting MahoPre2 to air there, as OtonaPre also aired in the Fall last year. Based on this information and lack thereof so far, one can assume that MahoPre2 will be airing in the Summer, but doesn't that seem a little strange?
The Summer anime season usually starts in July, and that's two months away now, so why have we gotten basically no official information on the anime yet, not even a proper title or a few visuals? Despite the fact that OtonaPre aired in October last year, we got a peek at the first visual about a week after the initial announcement in March, followed by a moderately paced reel of information throughout the year. Looking at the other non-PreCure anime on ANiMAZiNG!!!!, Strongest Tank was officially announced back in October 2023 (three months prior to airing), Yokai-san was officially announced back in November 2023 (five months prior to airing), [insert overtly long isekai title] was announced earlier this year in January (9 months prior to airing), so MahoPre2 definitely stands out in its lack of information at this late of a stage. Even so, I can't think of any other anime that would be taking the Summer slot at this point in time. There's also the possibility that Yokai-san runs for a second cour, but usually anime that airs on ANiMAZiNG!!! only run for one season, and Yokai-san's original manga concluded with 4 volumes and one side story, which is generally enough content to fit one cour.
So, what can we expect in the coming weeks/months? The first thing is, like most PreCure anime, a logo/title drop in the Japanese trademark office. Just a day before the initial announcement of OtonaPre, the logo was recorded in the office, so it's likely that whenever the MahoPre2 title drops, an official reveal will follow shortly.
What Rie Takahashi said
Another bit of information comes from Rie Takahashi, the voice actress for MahoPre's Mirai /Cure Miracle, on her radio show with fellow voice actress and friend, Reina Ueda (who coincidentally voices Mayu/Cure Lillian in the current Wonderful Pretty Cure!). For the episode uploaded on February 19 earlier this year, she talks a bit about MahoPre2, how it's airing sometime in 2024, and that they're excited for it, that this year is going to be a great one, no new information really, but it's probably the most recent information we've gotten from an official source, albeit a reconfirmation of what we already know.
Somewhat relatedly, the Kamikita twins, who draw the seasonal PreCure manga adaptations every year, posted a tweet earlier this year in January asking if there was anymore news on MahoPre2, which seems to indicate that, even to them at that point, they weren't briefed on anything behind the scenes.
Speculation: The "Wonderful PreCure!" movie
For the sections labeled speculation, I ask that you please do not take anything I write here as pure fact.
While browsing the Japanese side of Twitter, I came across a few opinions of PreCure fans on why Toei is being hush on MahoPre2. One idea is linked to the WonPre movie coming out later in September. In the film's initial trailer, there's a line said towards the end:
youtube
さらに素敵なお友達の出番です!っていいました?! "Sara ni sutekina otomodachi no deban desu! tte iimashita?!" "Did you just say, 'It's time for even more wonderful friends'?!"
What's the significance of the Japanese characters I highlighted in bold? In the context of PreCure, they are the catchphrases of Sora from last year's HiroPre, and Mirai from MahoPre. The 出番, deban, comes from Sora's catchphrase, ヒーローの出番です!, Hero no deban desu!, or officially translated as "It's hero time!" The っていいました?!, tte iimashita?!, or "Did you just say [x]?!" is a quoting particle frequently used by Mirai. Tumblr only allows one video upload per post, so I'll have to link to a separate post I made with the video comparison.
With this in mind, a fair amount of fans believe that the WonPre film will be another crossover one, like the HealPre and TroPre ones were, only this time, that team will be crossing over with the HiroPre and MahoPre teams. It's likely that MahoPre is added in to promote the upcoming sequel, which could be airing around the time the film hits theaters. For that reason, it's probable that Toei wants to combine the marketing for both MahoPre2 and the WonPre film, neither of which has started yet.
Speculation: MahoPre2 Delayed?
The idea of MahoPre2 being delayed isn't really based on any evidence, but pure speculation. Some fans believe that internal politics at Toei have made them shelve the sequel for the time being. Sailor Moon fans are familiar with how Sailor Moon Eternal and Sailor Moon Cosmos were mishandled and delayed multiple times.
youtube
Ojamajo Doremi, PreCure's older sister franchise, is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary with a potential animation plan adapting the sequel light novels with the girls grown up. Funnily enough, that's similar to the concept of MahoPre2, so maybe Toei somewhere down the line turned MahoPre2 into Doremi1620? Hahaha...
Another common theory is that MahoPre2 will actually air in early 2025. That sounds a bit weird, doesn't it? They explicitly said 2024, even Rie Takahashi said so, right? Technically, that wouldn't be a lie, if Toei was looking at Fiscal Year 2024, which in Japan, lasts from April 2024 to March 2025 for governments and corporations. That would give MahoPre2 time to air in the Winter 2025 season, and thus the promotion hasn't started yet because it's still too early.
So, with that all said, there are at least two time periods I believe MahoPre2 could air in, the Summer 2024 season, or the Winter 2025 season. As of now, we can only wait for more information, but I do not have reason to believe that Toei cancelled this project.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Episode 11 Review - Another Elf
This episode shows the conclusion of the fight with Aura. It’s overall a happy ending as all the possessed suit of armors finally rest in peace and then Frieren and her party get to stay at the city for a while until they leave, but they did it peacefully. It’s a chill episode overall.
Tumblr media
It’s nice to have confirmation that the suit of armor that had the same pendant as Granat’s was his son. It’s nice that the city is at peace and that Frieren, Fern and Stark are able to move around at peace. There were cute and funny moments, especially the part where Stark becomes afraid of the man with the axe to the point that he passed out and Fern had to lift him via floatation magic. Also, I do like that Fern and Stark get new clothes; come to think of it, Frieren hasn’t changed her clothes in eighty years. Does she use magic to preserve the quality of her default outfit? Also, where does she store all those grimoires she gets? That briefcase looks too small to be holding fifty or more books. Most of all, I really liked the insert song as the party spend their remaining time in the city from eating nice meals to praying for the departed souls. The song is called Bliss and it’s sung by milet and composed by Evan Call, the main composer for this anime’s soundtrack; her voice is so lovely. The song itself is so peaceful, like it’s an ending for one chapter and the beginning of another.
The second half of the episode is the party leaving the town but then getting halted by a blizzard. Because the northern lands have harsh weather, they take shelter in a cabin that Frieren had prior knowledge of. This is when they meet the monk Kraft, another elf. It’s honestly surprising to see another elf since Frieren has been the only one we’ve seen so far; I’m not too sure how many elves are remaining since demons had killed a lot in the past, especially the ones in Frieren’s village a millennia ago.
Kraft as a character is quite interesting. As an elf, he is a lot different than Frieren in terms of mindset. He is someone who is religious and does things because he wants his life to be worthy when he eventually does pass away. That’s why he believes in the Goddess. Because he believes that a goddess of creation does exist, he believes in her just so he has someone to praise him for his deeds. While Kraft is the equivalent of a Christian or a Catholic, Frieren is the equivalent of an atheist or an agonistic. I believe in God, but I’m not super religious. I know a bunch of atheists too and they have similar mindsets to Frieren in terms of their beliefs. I do like that spending time with Kraft has caused Frieren to be reminded of Heiter. Since she’s mainly thinking about either Flame or Himmel when necessary, it’s nice to see that even Heiter was someone important to her for her to reminisce about. Kraft calls Frieren “young”, not because of her age, but it’s due to her lack of belief in the goddess. I think it’s nice learning about the religious aspects of this story because it makes it feel like a world of its own.
Oh, if you’ve ever watched SK8 The Infinity, Kraft shares his voice actor with Adam, Takehito Koyasu. Stark shares the same voice actor as Langa, Chiaki Kobayashi. That anime had Koyasu’s character be a bit…eccentric towards Kobayashi’s character, so it’s like an SK8 mini reunion between Adam and Langa in a way (It’s also a bit weird in context if you don’t like Adam). I think that Koyasu did a great job with Kraft. He showed off Kraft’s weirdness but also the composed side of him.
It’s interesting to note that Frieren and her party stayed with Kraft for six months. Even if Fern and Stark don’t like it when they stay at one place for too long, there was no other choice as the blizzard was too strong for them to progress. It’s sad that he didn’t join the party, but I do hope that they’ll meet again some day. I think one little detail from the time they spent with Kraft was that all three of them eventually started praying before eating their meals. The sequences has it that Kraft was the only one who prayed, then it was Stark and Fern, and now Frieren. It’s nice seeing them adapt and adjust to their surroundings and not make the other feel left out. Do you think they’ll meet Kraft again on their travels?

20 questions writer meme
Thank you @heyholmesletsgo for tagging me :)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
76 (and counting)
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
1,095,178 at this moment
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I'm currently writing for Visual Prison and The Untamed/MDZS fandoms, but in the past I've written for Star Wars Rebels, the mcu, Supernatural, and a few others
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Maybe not so accidentally (899 kudos). A kalluzeb (star wars rebels) canon divergence AU
A Blind Goddess (657 kudos). Another kalluzeb fic. The star wars rebels fandom is a big one, so I guess it's not a surprise my top 3 fics with most kudos belong to it. It doesn't necessarily mean they're my best fics, only that more people have read them. But I'm grateful anyway.
The Reasons Why (426 kudos). Also a kalluzeb fic, and the first one I ever posted in English (I had only written in my own language until then). It was nerve-wracking to take that step but everyone's response was so kind it encouraged me to continue.
We Weren't Always Like This (413 kudos). This is a matchablossom fic (SK8 the Infinity), the first of the two fics I've written for that pairing.
No es la sangre (401 kudos). A thorki AU. This one is in Spanish
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Of course! The comments are a place to fangirl with people who are just as enthusiastic about the OTP as you are, what's not to like? Maybe I don't always reply as fast as I should, but I enjoy doing it.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I think most of my fics have a happy ending, I'm a basic bitch and proud of it. The only exception I can recall is It's not over, a destiel fic that was inspired by episode 5x04 of Supernatural and there's no way a story set in that alternate timeline could end well tbh.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
The other 75? XDD. Okay, fine, there are two fics in which the happy ending felt very satisfactory to me because the characters went through quite a lot of angst to get there: Under the Spotlight (songxiao, The Untamed/MDZS) and Take my hand, take my whole life too (sagamist, Visual Prison)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, I've been really lucky in that regard
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do, but I'm pretty vanilla about it. I think the kinkiest thing I've ever written was some light bondage and very soft dom/sub dynamics.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
El vínculo más profundo. It's more of a fusion than a crossover actually. The characters are from the movie "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" but the story is set in the Pacific Rim universe. It was fun to write
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yes, it happened a couple of times with No es la sangre. Someone took it and posted it as their own, first on ffnet and then on wattpad. I don't think it was the same person in both cases. One of the (many) advantages of writing for small fandoms, as I do now, is that the chances of that kind of thing happening are almost zero.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Partially. Someone started translating No es la sangre into English, but they got busy and stopped after a while. I've thought about translating it myself but to be honest, I don't have the energy.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, a very long time ago, with a very dear friend of mine. It was for the X-Files fandom.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
This is the most difficult question of this whole meme. I can't choose one, I love my ships dearly. I'd have to name at least five.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I only have two wips currently in the works and I intend to finish both of them.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Action scenes, I think. Sometimes dialogue.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Pacing, infodumping, knowing how to let a story breathe and not rushing it. Those are the things I find more difficult to get right.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If the story needs it, and if it's a language I know well, why not?
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The X-Files. Yeah, it's been a while
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I changed my mind, this one is actually the most difficult question. Aaah, I don't know, I tend to associate my fics with the community I get to enjoy through them, you know? It's not about how proud I am of the fic itself, it's about the whole experience. I am very fond of En la prórroga because I wrote it as a birthday gift for a friend and she loved it. I'll always love Under the Spotlight because it was my doorway to the songxiao fandom, where I have met some of the most amazing people you can find on the Internet. The same for Can't go back anymore, my first visupri fic, because I got to become part of an incredible group of friends thanks to it. And then there's Baby, It's Cold Outside and all the fun we had while I was posting that one. I'm overwhelmed by the response I've received to Maybe not so accidentally and No es la sangre, because I never expected any fic of mine to become so loved by anyone. So how am I going to choose just one?
Tagging @dreamyguns @ardilla-cocainomana @malalechan and whoever else wants to answer

Tadashi has just relapsed in his plans to “help” Adam, his master. And it’s awful because he was more on track with his original, crueller plan. Adam literally abuses him, now, and no matter how many times he looks back on their sweet history together, Adam has evolved into something far more sinister and presumably unfixable.
A monster.
He literally refers to Tadashi as his dog, and he’s even made a remark about if a dog is useless, then it must be destroyed. At first, that remark may not be in much correlation with his relationship with Tadashi, but in hindsight it easily could be. This is Adam we’re talking about, after all. And Tadashi has remade his plan to be softer and more considerate of what Adam desires, which is to skate, as opposed to ripping it away from him to put an end to his tyrannical dictatorship over S and skateboarding as a whole, as well as Tadashi himself.
Tadashi really needs to put an end to Adam, and destroy him once and for all, seeing as he’s already destroying himself.

thoughts about new episode of 'buddy daddies'
fuck, the writing in this show is so good
spoilers for episode 11 warning
I sort of have mixed feelings about Miri's mom:
I'm both very sad she died tragically, unable to make her wish (to be with Miri, raise her etc.) come true,
and relieved she actually did not lie about a thing (I had my doubts — it could be Kyuu contacted her and any lie told was for Miri's sake. anyways, good to know her words and feelings were genuine after all)
it was nice seeing different approaches from protagonists: distancing themselves from Miri vs. being with her at all times — while it all clearly is an attempt to protect her.
and the resolution of the whole 'can we change' dilemma was so satisfying, that was deeply touching 🥺
also! I'm glad I was correct to approach this as a rather happy anime. it's kinda like sk8 the infinity as in: sure, it's emotional, sometimes dramatic as fuck, but overall? it's fine. not devastating, not overwhelmingly angsty, just with certain sadness to it (which is alright. i can deal with it. not gonna break my heart, just impress me)
so yeah. i'm positive the ending wil be happy and all is good

Reki may not have won the race, but seeing Adam face-plant into the mud was priceless. And even though he lost, the crowd is still… chanting his name? Cheering for him? Acknowledging he exists?
Him.
Not the redhead.
Not the one who isn’t Langa.
Reki.
It’s a first. And honestly, it feels pretty damn good.
At least it does until a hand grabs the neck of his hoodie and rudely yanks him out of the fetal position he’d curled up in.
(Or: I wanted a bit more from the ending of episode 11 and couldn’t find anything that scratched the itch so I tried to write it myself)
Third and final chapter of my lil episode 11 “fix it” (not really but y’know).

I only really ship characters that interact with each other, so technically no “crack ships”
10. Of your top 5 anime, list your favourite character from each show?
1. Naruto and Sasuke, I’m not gonna choose between them haha
2. Ash
3. Yuri and Victor, again I can’t choose I love them for different reasons
4. Grell
5. Nana Osaki
11. List 3 of your husbando/waifu and what anime they are from?
I love Nana Osaki from Nana, Kakashi from Naruto, and Rukia from Bleach
12. Favourite anime genre?
either drama or romance/slice of life. i either want super high drama, or chill realistic conflict
13. Weirdest anime you have seen?
Anime overall can be pretty weird...I’m gonna say Peach Girl because the sheer soap opera-ness of it was like nothing I’ve ever seen before (and I loved it lol). Devilman Crybaby is weird af in general too. So is Revolutionary Girl Utena.
14. Subbed or dubbed?
If the dub is good, I’ll watch it. If a show’s really new or doesn’t have a decent dub, I’ll do it subbed. Like. Yuri on Ice and Haikyuu have to be watched in sub, but if I’m watching Bleach or something it has to be the English for me
15. Fanart or Fanfic?
I like both, but definitely fanfiction
16. Protagonist or antagonist?
It depends on the show
17. Funniest anime you have seen?
Saiki K
18. Saddest anime you have seen?
Naruto and Banana Fish. Those are some SUCKY life circumstances. I Want To Eat Your Pancreas was really sad too
19. Anime character you dislike the most?
I don’t like Sakura & Hinata from Naruto because too much of their personalities are about who they have a crush on. Atsumu Miya from Haikyuu is cocky and annoying. Golzine from Banana Fish is terrible. Enel from One Piece is one of the most annoying villains ever. Zenitsu from Demon Slayer is obnoxious
20. Recommend an anime movie?
I Want to Eat Your Pancreas and Ride Your Wave are two good ones to get you in touch with your emotions. I also love Doukyuusei for a more relaxed, romantic story
I’ll tag @kohigh @shinixgami @nnaruto @crimsonrosee @brokenyouth @naratemari @iceywolfj @usernamethatisgood @pock-galliard (if u guys feel like it) & anyone who feels like doing it can say that i tagged you
