I'm writing a multichapter fic right now about dick and bruce and I was wondering if there's any details I could slip in from time to time to indicate they're both jewish? I'm planning on using a few yiddish words in dialogue and mentioning dick's bar mitzvah as a past bonding moment™ but I was wondering if you had any tips or things I could include

Oh gosh, I'm flattered you would come to ask me! I'm always a sucker for characters using Yiddish, and I hold very dear in my heart the idea of Dick (and Bruce) having Bar Mitzvahs. I'm not much of a writer, but I saw this post that I thought was succinct but made some good points on Jewish characterization. I don't personally have many writing tips, since my pencil doesn't usually make words instead of pictures LOL

In terms of details, though, you're on the right track! That would definitely be enough to simply express "hey, these people are Jewish!". Some Yiddish here, a recollection to a past Jewish holiday there ("I still remember how cute your costume for Purim was that year!", "Ah, I'll never let you hide the Afikoman again, we were searching for hours!"), it all does the job! Bonus points IMO if it isn't Hanukkah, which isn't that big of a holiday and is mostly a proximity to Christmas thing. Of course, this is all depending on the tone, and how you want to characterize them.

Of course, I'm only one person (and you know what they say; two Jews, three opinions!) but that's my take on establishing a character is Jewish casually. I'd be happy to hear more details or even sensitivity-read anytime though! :)

Wait, if Rime's ice powers are not innate to her, being the result of her endure to her frozen imprisonment, does it mean she struggled to control them in the first moments? Or even in the first days? Maybe months 🤭?

If so, does it mean she fought/met with Blaze three times while still figuring out how to control her powers? (Because it would be really hilarious if she posed all like "the superior fighter" and pulled some "ultimate yadda yadda" speech, like Shadow did with Sonic, even though she was still learning to properly control her powers)

Definitely!! She didn't even realise she HAD ice magic until she used it by accident, and then immediately went "oh this is sick as hell!!!" and threw herself into learning how to use it, but that would have taken a while.

I don't have an exact plot down, but if Rime and Blaze's first few meetings/fights are similar to sa2, then Rime would actually have used her original power of magic absorption/nullification to make Blaze powerless for the first few fights. Then both of them would just be punching and scratching each other like normal cats LOL. Once Rime learns about her new magic, she decides to fight Blaze with it as "it's way cooler" <- pun intended.

So, yeah. She's fighting Blaze while not really having any idea how her magic works lmfao. It's fairly strong magic but she doesn't know how to use it as she's never had training in that regards, while to me Blaze would have been trained from childhood to use her fire magic (even if she couldn't control it fully before meeting Sonic, she still has more control over it than Rime). I guess for Rime, being the superior fighter would be referring to literally fighting - Blaze is good but Rime is the better brawler! She's used to fighting without magic so usually comes out on top if they both fight like that. However you also need to know that Rime likes being beaten by Blaze. In a lesbian way. The rituals are intricate and all that LOL. Where's the fun in nullifying Blaze's magic and then beating her up when Rime could let Blaze pin her to the ground and threaten to burn her? She thinks it's hot!! <- pun intended again.

Her "ultimate [???]" speech would no doubt be pretty different from Shadow's too. Rime doesn't consider herself as an ultimate lifeform, if anything she considers herself less human (or mobian lol) than others due to her upbringing (Gertrude treated her as a non sentient animal) so I'm not entirely sure yet how that would go. Lots to think about!!! A lot of my thoughts on Rime are based on half baked headcanons I have for the Sol dimension, I rlly need to bulk those out and properly write them down djhfhd

So since you've inadvertently become the fic idea person might I suggest some double whump (heavily inspired by fics from another ship)? Basically Carlos gets himself in some trouble/injured and TK with some assistance (preferably Paul) manages to save him and stabilize his condition. However during the getaway it becomes clear TK has sustained a life threatening injury during the rescue. So now Carlos has no choice but to drive the car, fly a plane, etc. to get him to safety while only being able to listen to Paul (the more medically qualified of the two) try desperately to keep TK alive.

Funny how you mentioned acting expressions in animation with limited features like just the eyes. In college, we DID have to do test animation using Marvin the Martian in the 2d character animation course (he's usually the go-to model). Since his face is just eyes, you're graded if you can effectively portray a specific emotion within facial limitations (my assigned line was "I claim this planet in the name of Mars! Isn't that lovely?") It's fun to think about all the Bros animators going : "Ah yes, the eye acting." *cracks knuckles "Challenge accepted."

Howdy! what motifs/symbols do you associate with your ship? What is something Spriggan does that cheers you up instantly?

Hi to you too and thank you for sending me this nice ask! :)

I mostly associate Spriggan with spirals, like irish spirals carved in stone (since Spriggan is kind of irish or cornwallish to be exact) and he is made of stone so he kind of has that old mossy stone aesthetic in him and spirals in golden jewerlies like the ones he has in his hands and bluebell flowers since there were bluebells around when he appeared in the anime for the first time.

I associate myself or my self insert (I think I can just say myself, since my self insert is literally just me) with french "fleur de lis" symbol and stargazer lilies, since my name literally is Lily and there's actually a very deep connection between my name and stargazer lilies, but I think I can tell you about it some other time.

I don't really associate any symbols with the two of us combined yet since I haven't really gotten into the world of symbols and how they would fit the two of us together, but I'm working on it.

And to answer your other guestion: when I'm usually feeling down, Spriggan takes my hands in his own and gently caresses the soft skin with his rough and calloused hands and says soothing words to me with a gentle tone in his voice and that is what makes me feel better everytime. Hugs work well in that situation too.
