Man's self destruction brought to fruit by his own making,

Deaths boney arms outstretched it's all for his taking,

The seeds of war ravage the land like disease,

Shackled by hatred the villagers now brought to their knees,

As they look down into the deep muddy trench,

The air is filled with genocides filth ridden stench,

One bullet each to the back of the head,

Over the side they now go to the land of the dead,

Man's own intolerance brought on by greed, hatred or desire,

The massacred innocents in the trench wreathed in fire,

And still this sickening killing goes ever on,

Even after the warlords enemies have all fled and gone,

There will always be more victims off In far away lands,

On the news the children cry with their heads in their hands,

Their parents were taken and now lie in the ditch,

Lands and homes devoured so the warlords can get rich,

Blinded by ambition and greed the warlords never see,

Wealth doesn't come from money, power, tyranny,

To become truly rich wealth comes from deep inside,

But the warlords look on at the killing with so much pride,

So the people flee, run and do their best to escape,

Over the border the next militia awaits at the gate,

Man's injustice you watch from comfort and safety

the news is on little box that you call a 'Tele',

And so you sit in ignorance and so spreads the war

How long now 'till a warlords militia knock at your door,

So now it seems that there's nowhere to run,

Looking down into the trench I will tell you is no fun,

One single bullet in the back of the head's all it takes,

If we continue to ignore it until it's too late,

So the warlords remain in power and will always want more,

More trenches now dug and then filled as before,

Their appetite for death and power will grow ever stronger,

Until as a species we can last no longer,

So do we let death scoop us all up in his jaws?

Or do we do something about man's many flaws?

The teaching of tolerance to all mortal men,

Wisdom and wealth brought not from war but by pen,

So armed with this knowledge let's try and turn back the tide,

Before its too late and there's nowhere to hide,

Let's teach compassion, understanding, friendship and more,

Instead of the sickening devastation brought on by war.
