"Before losing our home, if we had some money she used to bake, and if we were lucky we even had meat for dinner" he smiled "At midnight i would open my presents, most of the times it was just winter clothes hidden as a presents, but time to time i would get some toys too; chirstmas was a bit more boring, she mostly would take me to the mass" he laughed "....when we lost our house, we would go eat at the canteen, they give free food on chirstman, they even had little fruit cakes"

"....no.. you can't, I want to be there when you open them." it seems that after last discussion he was just a bit more comfortable with acting selfish.

"uhm... we could make a cake together, aside from the cookies. a fruitcake...

and we could play Christmas carols together, on the harmonica and piano?"

Fugo was a bit relieved too. he craved Narancia's attention desperately. But he just didn't know how to keep the conversation going or stop it from turning negative and depressing. reading out loud would allow them to spend time without awkwardly fumbling for conversations.

Fugo smiled and made himself comfortable in one of the arm chairs, opening the book and reading in a clear voice.

it was a story about a man who had caught a pollar bear and wanted to offer it to the king as a christmas gift. on his journey to the palace, he wanted to spend the night somewhere. but the farm where he asked for shelter had it's inhabitants terrified. every year on christmas eve, trolls would come down the hills and raid their house.

the man still decided to stay in the house, together with his bear. and in the night at 12 am, the trolls came, eating all the food, destroying the furniture and wracking loud havoc.

some of the trolls were convinced that what was sleeping on the ground was the farmer's cat and they started bullying it. but it was actually the pollar bear who went wild and chased all of the trolls out.

the next day when the man continued his journey, he could hear calling in the hills that the other trolls should never go to that farm, because they have this huge feral cat.

hm?" he lay the book down on the table, having had assumed that Narancia would have prefered to listen over reading. "Alright. which will you read?"

"Ah! i dont have to read it i have it all here!" and pointed his head.

"Ok so the story its named Snow White and Rose Red! But its not that snow white, its another one. but there is two bears here too...Anyway!"

he got back in track

"ok...So, once upon a time there were two sisters, one was blonde and shy, she liked to read and bake, the other was brunette and outspoken and she loved to play outside the house. They lived alone with their mom. one cold winter night two big bears knock at the door, asking the girls if they could rest there for the winter since they didnt found a place to hy..hibernate..?

so the girls and their mom took  care of the bears for the whole winter and became friends with them!

as spring started, the bear leaved, telling the to watch out for the evil dwarf. and indeed they found the dwarf some days later, his beard stuck in a tree, the girls cutted it to free him, but the dwarf started to attack the girls! But then the bears saved them! and umh, turned into a princes somehow...? because the dwarf cursed them...?

A-Anyway they got married and lived happy ever after!"

Fugo had a soft smile on his face as he took one of the books once more and browsed it.

He found one and started reading a story about a snow queen who had send hail to bewitch a boy. the hail had pierced his heart and had frozen it, making him treat his childhood friend badly. right after that, he disapeared.

despite the childhood friend having been treated badly, she set out to safe him.

she experienced a bunch of adventures, like an old lady inviting her in her house but wouldn't let her go and made her lose her memories. or her meeting a prince who resembled her friend and who gave her a carriage to ride in and continue her search. and the carriage got attacked by bandits and the girl was captured. but the daughter of the bandit leader liked her and helped her escape.

when she told the daughter what had happened, she could tell her the snow queen must have put a spell on her, and that her friend hadn't been mean to her because he disliked her.

the daughter gave her a reindeer to ride further and she eventually found the snow queen's castle.

the snow queen was bullying the boy and making him clean her ice palace, which slowly made him freeze all over.

the girl found him in the end, but the boy was cold to her and didn't recognize her. still, she refused to let go of him and cried warm tears. some of the tears fell on his heart and thawed the hail that had frozen it.

together, they escaped the castle on the reindeer's back and went home

There was something about Fugo's voice that sounded just right, it was clean and smooth and overall Narancia enjoyed it, giving him some sort of comfort.

"Thats one its really pretty" he smiled "Im glad they got back home safe!"

He then thinked a bit about the next story to tell

"I know one more! Its not really chirstmas-y, but mom used to tell me this a lot" he smiled

"So, once upon a time a little girl; she lived with her evil step mother and sister in a poor little house; the step mother would make the poor girl do all the house work, but she was really kind and never complained.

One of the tasks she had to do was go in the forest to the river and wash all her sister and step mom clothes.

One day as she was doing this, she found a poor naked old lady trying to wash a dress covered in tick mud.

The girl offered to help her, and she scrubbed, scrubbed and scrubbed for hours, till no mud was left!

The old lady thanked her and wore the dress, turning into a young beautiful fairy!

She smiled at the girl and to thank her she casted a spell on her! Everytime she laughed, diamonds would fall from her mouth, and everytime she was sad, she would cry pearls.

The girl happily got back home, leaving a trail of diamons on her way back.

When she got home she said 'mom! A fairy blessed me!'

But the woman was jealous, so she yelled at her daughter 'go in the forest and find a fairy and get blessed too'

In the forest the step sister found the old lady too, but when the ladt asked for help, the girl, who was super mean and lazy was like 'old hag cant you see im waiting for a fairy?!'

The old lady got mad, because fairies are really petty, and turned into her real form, scaring the girl and then cursed her, than everytime she would hichup toads and frogs would jump off her mouth!

The mean step sister got back home crying, and so she hickhupped, leaving a trail of frog behind.

Meanwhile, the king, that was in the forest to hunt, found a trail of diamonds, and following it she found the kind little girl, suprised of her gift and since his wife, the queen, never had babies, decided to adopt her, so she lived happy in her castel, not having to do hard work anymore"

YOUR JADE AND FLOYD THOUGHT WAS SO CUTE!!!! The idea of them being so soft with darling and both being so respectful of the chalk line has my heart in flutters. You have so many projects going on, I wish this was a full length series (with a happy ending because I want more fluff).

I'm so happy you like the thoughts!! I think it's very sweet when Floyd tries his very best to be soft and patient so he won't scare his shrimpy. It would be so fun to write a full series with the twins and the chalk line concept, but for now I will focus my efforts on the event and the stories I have started! One day I might have to write something for the twins. Perhaps a mini series that has more fluff to make up for all of the emotions that will be felt in DRU...

Floyd is the most family man!!!!! Omg he's a sweetheart. He really cares so much for his loved ones, even if you can't see it right away because of your fear. Although I definitely agree with your point of underhanded methods. He can't stay patient forever, so he will resort to other means of getting you to warm up to him much faster than normal. If you were sick, the twins will definitely dote on you, offering to help you with everything you need (you only need to let them cross the chalk line). Jade might want to keep you considerably weaker because it's easy to get into your head, to have you depend solely on him, but I don't think Floyd would enjoy that very much. He wants you to be your usual self around him and Jade; he doesn't want a sick, hollow version of shrimpy. He wants to love you as you are, fear and all, because when you're your most genuine Floyd feels his heart swell with love.

Omegaverse adds some stakes! If you're an omega and the twins are both alphas, heats can become a little difficult to navigate when you're always surrounded by such strong pheromones and your instincts keep telling you to give in and let them help you. Jade's diligent about taking medicine to regulate his ruts so he won't go feral, but Floyd's always forgetting or he refuses to take them for whatever reason (they taste gross, he hates how they make him feel, he doesn't like having to regulate natural rut cycles when he has shrimpy to help with that, etc). One day you'll give in. It might not be for the first few heats, but you can't avoid them forever and the twins definitely aren't going to give you suppressants. They like seeing you needy and weepy when you're in heat; it's very cute.

I think they might have enough restraint to be sane around you. Floyd bends down to look at you from the other side of the chalk line, talking to you in a soft voice, innocently wondering aloud if you might need any help. Jade will join him, and they pester you with their smooth voices. You know what they're playing at, but it's impossible to keep your own restraint when they smell so good, are within touching distance, and keep promising to treat you so wonderfully if you'd just let them help. And they are eels of their word (sometimes)! You're treated so sweetly throughout your heat cycle. They hope that if they help you and show you that they won't hurt you you might be more willing to help them when it comes time for their ruts.

I've come to ask something from you bc I kinda see you as a mom on Tumblr (and I mean that in the most respectful, honorable way) just bc your fics are top tier quality and I just think you're so fucking cool.

I'm a writer myself, I have over 1k followers (I know it's not much) my top post has almost 2k notes, I have more than I think 3 posts over 1k notes (not boasting this is genuinely with a purpose) but all my latest fics don't go over say like 200 notes. I've tried softer fics, more smutty fics, more thorough, less thorough, I've changed the way I write and still nothing gets me as many likes as I used to get before. So now I'm thinking I was just a one hit wonder?

I even stopped posting and only dropped fics every now and then bc I thought I was annoying people and that's why my likes dropped? But I gain like over 10 followers a day so I really don't understand.

Basically what I'm saying is, I've been considering leaving Tumblr bc of this, because I just feel like I've gotten too greedy and 200 notes isn't enough, I want more like I used to get. I've even become fearful of requests bc I constantly think is this one even gonna make it. I'm talking about spending 7 hours on a fic just for it to get like 50 likes, that's devastating and fucking heart wrecking. I have writers block because I just repeat to myself that it won't even make it so what's the point.

okay, first of, i'd like to say 1k followers is a lot ! at least in my perspective. when you imagine how 1k people look like in a room it's certainly a lot hahah. if it eases your mind, i'll tell you that our numbers are pretty similar, at least the ones you described.

with that being said... here's what i think, and it might not really be what you want to hear. mind you, this is 100% just my opinion, and how i personally view this hobby of writing fanfiction. other people might have different opinions to mine, yourself included, and that's fine...

if you're writing with numbers in mind, you'll never be satisfied with anything you do. whenever you set a target audience for your writing that isn't yourself, you start losing the joy. it all becomes a spiral of 'is this good enough?' 'what if this doesn't gather an XYZ amount of notes?' rather than what the story really is about.

notes never ever determine how good a story is. i've seen stories with notes around the five digits that i personally didn't find particularly enjoyable, whereas stories i absolutely adored and made me feel a plethora of emotions still sit within the three digits. it's all subjective, and also a bit of luck. sometimes all it takes is a blog with a moderately sized following to reblog your story on main for that story to blow up, really.

if you're writing solely for the validation that notes can bring you, that's valid, it's fine, but it's, in my opinion, something that is bound to make you question your own passion (like it seems to be happening to you right now). it's a completely volatile and unreliable source of energy, and the moment it starts wavering, it all feels worthless (even when it isn't).

which is why i, personally, write because i just... feel like it. i want to read the stories that pop up in my head, it's why i always mention the 'little lizard' in my brain, because i genuinely just work on what i want to work on and that's it. it's also why my creative process doesn't work for "requests". if someone requests something that doesn't immediately spark my interest, i won't be able to fulfil it, so i'll be both bummed out by that fact, and the fact that i can't give the person what they requested in the first place.

ultimately, i'll write stories even if i don't post them, because i enjoy them. i enjoy doing this. i choose to share them with the world, and if there's people out there that enjoy them, too, that's great, it's amazing! and if a story isn't particularly popular, that's okay, too. it was written for me, and i loved it, so i already feel accomplished.

all this to say, my advice to you is that you sit back and start thinking about why you're doing this.

writing takes time, takes energy, and if you're doing it for anything other than the pleasure of writing and reading the story yourself, it's gonna weigh heavily on you. creativity isn't something that can be forced. so, if you force yourself to write something just because of the numbers it might bring, you're already setting yourself for heartbreak when the engagement you receive isn't the one you expected (because it's never enough. when you spend hours working on something you feel like you deserve a million notes, and you do, but it's not how this platform works, unfortunately). you'll end up just resenting the hobby in general, and burning yourself out because you're forcing yourself to write even if you don't feel like it, just because you want to see the numbers grow.

whenever i feel too tired, too overwhelmed, and too insecure about my work, i try to take a step back and give myself grace. i went on hiatus a while ago because i was starting to obsess over the numbers too much, and that time away made me realise all the things i said above. numbers aren't a direct reflection of your work, nor your worthiness as a writer, you know?

ALRIGHT ON TO THE QUESTIONS SO BUCKLE UP, BUDDY! Because I’m about to do something that only a few people would ever get through - R A N T i MEAN ansWERINg questions. Please, and this is very important, take my answers with a grain…no…A GIGANTIC OCEAN WORTH OF SALT. I’m but a commoner who loves Callum and Aaravos a little bit too much. Also due to the nature of tumblr ask limiting me to only 10-30 images(?)…in this arguably somewhat of an argumentative essay…So um SORRY for the lack of illustrations and that I tried my best to answer as clearly as I could. I’m not the biggest fan of writing or reading for that matters (hahah which is ironic because I have to somewhat write a script for this) BUT! I did have all of the outlines of the plot planned out. I’m only good at writing dynamics - aka relationships between people. I still need the canon explanation on a lot of things because there is no way in hell I’ll get the magic system right UNLESS THEY SHOW IT TO ME JESUS FRICKIN CHRIST-

So yea, no written fanfic but there is an existing script, several comic drafts with some missing lore that I hope the show will reveal~ I dub their story ‘Masters of the Primals’ and here’s a sketch of one of the covers~

Oh I’ve actually written a draft abt this so I can either dump all the ugly sketches in your face— or tell you about it… Let’s do both because only the most obscure of my followers have the patience for my shenanigoogles anyways.

So! Due to the fact that we saw the mirror is now placed in a regular room within the castle (in ss4 trailer) chances are the whole situation you’re looking at here

probably took place within the walls of A REGULAR ROOM OF THE CASTLE. Therefore if Aaravos’s return did trigger some sort of ancient alarm and the place was swarmed, Ezran and Soren would be the first to know of this incident. The way I see it… it was shown in ss4 that Callum has been brooding and upset for 2 years ever since Rayla left. So in the brief moments that Ezran got to see his brother with Aaravos, Callum was smiling and genuinely being the happiest that he has ever seen for the first time IN FOREVER (when he tried to introduce Aaravos to Ezran and explained himself with whatever the truth relating to this man is) was enough proof for him.

Ezran would probably be the first, and quickest to trust in Callum’s heart. I think he would definitely yell at his brother to get his ass out of the kingdom and pursue his own happiness and that he will see him later (maybe when Aaravos told Callum to stay with Ezran, nudged him forward but instead Callum hugged his brother goodbye, then grabbed the man’s hand and and booked it before all hell break lose)

Soren’s reaction might be the most fun and one that I’ve also written a script for. He would at first, definitely be on the elves side because well…Aaravos is evil and dangerous is all that he’s told. So he might have been neutralized either frozen in place or sent flying when Aaravos impulsively protected Callum from being harm. Later him and Rayla would definitely try to hunt Callum down believing that Aaravos somehow - brainwashed or manipulated Callum into running off and doing evil with him (which there is no proof of btw they’re REALLY JUST ASSUMING that they’re doing bad things because of Aaravos’s history lol.) Callum will always opt to tell the truth, what he did know about Aaravos, how he manipulated Viren and how he was the caterpillar bug thingy that Soren saw before. This, of course, would reasonably anger Soren. As for Rayla, well she has all the reasons to destroy Aaravos because that’s all she’s told about him, and considering she now know he did played a role in the previous war via what the elves had told her...it’s not like she would think otherwise.

So they fight.

I dub this the ‘Callum kicking literally everybody’s ass’ - The Arc.

Aaravos would help but I think my boy got it cover. Callum on the other hand…he’s just so done with hearing the same thing over and over: Aaravos is evil; he’ll devour your soul; he’s going to take over the worlddd. Which to him sounded a bit much considering all they have been doing ever since running away was LITERALLY FIXING THE ELVES AND DRAGON’S PROBLEMS like fighting op bandits, quieting the cold wars that probably exist somewhere in Xadia, helping to restore the magic back to the dying lands, etc ALL OF THIS WHILST BEING HUNTED DOWN BY THE SYSTEM ITSELF BECAUSE ??? AARAVOS IS EVIL HE’S A CRIMINAL HE MUST BE STOPPED etc etc. Note that it might have been months when Rayla and Soren finally caught up to these two, which gave Callum plenty of time to learn combat tactics and creative ways to use his power with both his and Aaravos’s massive brains combined.

So in short, Callum is just done. He’s done perpetuating the broken system. A system, which by the way, if you remember, condemned Rayla’s parents thinking they ran away WHEN THEY HAD THE TOOL TO FIND OUT IF THAT WAS TRUE OR NOT BY USING THE SAME SPELL CALLUM DID AT THE STORM SPIRE A system that believed Amaya deserved death without giving her a chance to trial because — war and discrimination??? (Janai had to begged for her life and even then she’s still treated by the ruling class as a “pet”) A system that sent assassins to murder knowing that it will PROBABLY perpetuate the cycle of violence, with the person who ATTEMPTED THIS ACT aka the dragon queen btw don’t forget this, literally sent Callum and Ez’s dad to his grave, took a nap and woke up acting like this was what she wanted ALL ALONG (face palming so hard at the writing for this) AND FINALLY, a system where, from the start, knowingly half-heartedly helped human via the act of the unicorns giving the human primal stones itself (check the wiki for this I’m sure this is canon somehow) is a cruel joke disguises as an act of kindness, in my opinion anyway. I can say one thing for certain, if there is no need for dark magic, it wouldn’t have existed. No one would need it because well—they can already do primal magic. SO SOMETHING along the line of HOW primal magic was used and WHO used the primal magic AND WHAT was it used for, must have not been LIFE-SAVING due to the fact that the human poems recalled their town being attacked by dragons and the ancient dark mage recall tales of famine and plagues. A system that has been looking down on humanity since the dawn of their existence.

But this isn’t to say the humans didn’t do anything wrong either, as the show constantly trying to shove the fact that human mages and dark magic = bad at our faces lols. However…I wanna talk about something else... King Harrow’s bad kingdom management choices. It wasn’t dark magic that’s at fault. IT WAS HARROW(not entirely but for the main conflict of the show it's definitely his fault) — which i will dissect more in the later answer about Callum. But for now all I will say this: DARK MAGIC ISN’T THE BAD GUY HERE. Callum woke up to the truth when he met Aaravos and realized that he can’t choose between two ambiguously terrible systems…so he decided to leave them both! He recognizes that there are countless of people who still rely and are living some what happy and peaceful lives within these systems, therefore him and Aaravos running away to just be themselves, to live their own lives, to be happy was the best course of action to take.

I think that the comic draft about their fights sorta already explained how the other elves and dragons see this scandalous(lol) event : Aaravos scheming something terrible with the human mage. Some of them probably think Callum got manipulated or brainwashed, others immediately condemned him because PREJUDICE~ Human’s always gotta be human~ and what not. That’s all I can say regarding to this aspect of the story. Bonus content, how Aaravos feels about his student’s friends comic draft:

oH BOY, here is the part where I warned you about. Take whatever I’m about to say with a massive amount of salt. I’ve had people asking this and then unfollowed me for my very infuriating take on him.

I genuinely, sincerely , without a shadow of a doubt, believe that the writers do not love him as a character. Let me give you all the evidence to why (spare my soul I TRIED to sit through all of the seasons to list out moment that he is on screen which included time stamps, episode number and the season I cited along with my thoughts on each of them… God knows if I miss anything because I just can’t stand the way they write him)

If you came back from the link and still disagree with me then, idk what else to tell you. This will fall on your deaf ears I suppose… But if you understand, with or without reading my notes, I hope it’s been clear to you how he is the prime example of a wasted main character FROM THE START. He’s under written at worst… semi-mediocre at best. You will surely get it when I say he’s only written….purely to save Rayla, to make her character looks good and or other characters around him look good. His role in the story, is arguably, even more important than “the dragon prince” himself because CALLUM IS THE SOLUTION, THE ANSWER TO THE MAIN CONFLICT OF THE SHOW: M A G I C(the conflict between primal and dark magic ; or human vs magical creatures. Depends on how you look at it.)

And yet… a massive disservice was done to him. It makes no sense from both the lore and the importance of the story stand point that they would treat his character like this. I love him, I love who he has and surely still has the potential to be. I think I made this very clear in the examples that I’ve given but I’ll spell it out again here (given that maybe I’ve probably completely spiraled into insanity while watching the show again purely for that purpose…)

ABOUT HIS WRITINGS, STORY, ACTION AND LORE:

As someone whose mother was lost because of his own father’s bad choice as a ruler(and I’d argue that he understood this very well that it wasn’t dark magic. IT’S HIS STEP DAD) he could and would have become someone who’s sensitive to the truth. That dark magic is JUST, A, TOOL. A very dangerous, powerful one but A TOOL, NONETHELESS. It’s something someone willingly choose. It is a contract. You lose a bit of yourself in exchange for your desire. It was Harrow’s choice to help the neighbor when his kingdom barely had enough to get by. It was again his choice, not Viren’s, not dark magic’s “temptation”, HIS CHOICE to kill the titan. It was HIS choice that led to Sarai’s death. Then it WAS AGAIN, his choice to kill the dragon king. From Callum’s perspective, he should have seen it this way a long time ago. But the thing that was wasted about this, was even when he knew all of this, he still made an effort to love Harrow, because his love for his mother is greater than his hatred for Harrow’s mistakes. UNTIL WHATEVER TRANSPIRED IN EPISODE 1-3 in season one. He would have stood up to his father with vigor when this man again decided to be selfish AGAIN, wanting to die instead of staying alive at all cost for his very young son, and then would still risked his life fighting and protect him rather than running away because that’s just the type of person CALLUM IS. Not whatever the hell that went down in the show… I will fight for this version of him till the day I die. Make his flaw recklessness instead of cowardice. Make him love everyone as best as he can, not just his romantic interest. That is what I see in Callum, and sadly not what I’ve gotten.

ABOUT HIS POWER The bit about him getting his magic was anti climatic and pisses me off to no end because of the execution (again this was in the link, see my notes on season 2) I won’t say more here but here’s the summary: The one Callum condemned should have been the image of his step father due to all the bad choices that he’s made, and then swiftly turn his back on the thing that saves him his pride (the fact that the show and Harrow refused to acknowledge that dark magic really did saved thousands of lives when he couldn’t); knowingly shackling his very young son Ezran to the throne which he DELIBERATELY SAID before hand: a child is freer than a king. Yea, real good of ya Harrow. Towards the dark mage version of himself, he should have been more gentle, understanding and kind. He wouldn’t make the same mistake as Harrow by completely becoming ungrateful to it. He would bargain for his soul, vowing that he will be a little kinder to himself and hope that it can give him a chance. He couldn’t go on living if he’s not himself anymore. This would have made the story infinitely more interesting because the show HAD THE CHANCE TO SHOW US THAT DARK MAGIC CAN BE FORGIVING(and in canon it…kinda is??? Because Callum was able to just noped out of getting corrupted so forgiving is in its nature…SO WHY IS IT BEING RIDICULE WHEN IT LITERALLY HELPED HIM SAVED HIS FRIEND’S LIFE BRUH) with the dark Callum slowly closes his eyes and fade away as Callum hugged him; dropping the key that was all dark magic runes into the abyss. THAT. is how you reject something like dark magic. THAT is how you are worthy of being the FIRST EVER HUMAN TO CHANEL THE PRIMAL - because YOU UNDERSTOOD THE TRUE NATURE OF DARK MAGIC: that it’s not EVIL. Not all the preachy prejudicial crap that transpired in that episode… It didn’t feel earned and it didn’t feel natural. To his character and to the story and I want to cry.

4. Do you think there's ever a chance of seeing any part of your au in canon? Specially with the new season.

I doubt it aha. With what they did to Callum and what I’ve seen so far with the new season derailing his character into “angst” instead of … letting him embrace his non-traditional masculinity and going all in on the “moe” aspect of his character…BUT THEY DIDN’T! SO it might just go down a typical angsty good vs evil generic writing… I’ve said this before but if they made my plot a reality I would literally eat dirt 🤣 and not just “oh Aaravos is using Callum so he took him as a student” no no no~ I mean e x a c t l y how it transpired in my writings. THEN I’ll eat dirt :)))

5. What are your thoughts on rayllum? Would their canon relationship have any affects in your au?

One of the other aspect I want people to take with another mountain of salt. I’ll answer in the shortest way possible though because it will take another essay for me to get through my thoughts. I’ll give you one word: Chemistry. I didn’t feel any chemistry between them from the moment they met till the moment they became a couple. (A friendly reminder that season 1-3 took place in only a month or a month and a half…maybe two months if you count the official comic. So their “romance” formed a little after …. two…weeks… yep I checked… and “fell apart” after like a month and a half…) Chemistry, is what you feel instantly. You can’t…make it happen, it just…happens. I think Aaravos said it best in the comic draft below: “If you had to force love, it’s probably shit.” 🙂 There is this innate compatibility within the characters themselves that makes their interaction explosive with emotions…and these two…has non... They are, in some ways sorta…good friends…? but take their first interaction for example! The first nice thing Callum expressed towards Rayla without fear was: YOU SWEPT THE LEG! She doesn’t understand this sentiment, her reaction wasn’t amused, it was this angry, somewhat confused look. Later on when he’s happy finding out that he’s a mage, she’s just annoyed, not finding this bubbly carefree somewhat loud personality charming. I get that this is when they first met and there is still barriers here and there… but like I said, it’s about the chemistry ; something that’s supposed to happen instantaneously. There are countless more times like this… when there is a chance for some sort of reaction to happen; but it just… did not? Then it did a 180 in ss3 for…the sake of shipping…huh..??? So to me at least, their chemistry has already failed.

You can clearly see that Aaravos ACKNOWLEDGED his student’s relationship, whilst Callum seems somewhat dismissive of it. I do it this way because:

like it or not…that is still what happened in the canon;

Maybe a good thing because if Callum had decided to run away with Aaravos, a labeled WAR CRIMINAL, changing his perspective on what he believed in either about life or relationship, shouldn’t be a far fetch development either. I wrote about it in detail via this post. I think that he would slowly learn that he is super happy without the involvement of a romantic partner, thus he’s able to be more understanding to Rayla’s leaving him. Or maybe it’s Aaravos who helped him understand why she left and even be the reason for why he’s so emotionally stable and matured.

IN SHORT: Callum doesn’t think about or even wants to think about his romantic life when he’s with Aaravos. His reply whenever his master mentions Rayla (which doesn’t really come up that often) would always be: “I’ll deal with it when it comes to it!” My man Aaravos on the other hand… he’s literally just vibing. Touching grass, doing magic, getting mentally healthier and being happy. He’s still the biggest bastard that Callum has ever known though, so that won’t change any time soon 🙂

6. Would callum and aaravos remain fugitives in the future of your au or will that change?

No spoilers~ They might be still “considered” fugitives is all I’m saying! I hope you will get to see the result for yourself!

7. Do you think there's a character that would for whatever reason join callum and aaravos?

At one point…I felt like Claudia would? Mainly because I wrote a whole arc for Callum v Claudia which the focus would be Aaravos past mistakes (or “mistakes”, represented by whatever Claudia became) vs his aspiration (his present, his hope, his student - Callum) But then even if Callum successfully repelled the corruption out of Claudia, they would probably just leave her with Ezran or Amaya because these two are incredibly selfish when it comes to their bond. They’re too used to being alone together and they would rather keep it that way. WHICH IS UNDERSTANDABLE considering how literally everyone just wants to hunt them down.

Mayyybe with the exception being Zym??? Since Ez can’t leave the throne to go with Callum, Zym decided to accompanied them to sorta like being his eyes cough and keep tabs on Aaravos. That it’d make an interesting plot line. Plus it’s the most powerful elven mage, the first and probably most powerful human mage, and the most powerful dragon in the world… What a scary trio. Also…Aaravos big feeling times with Zym and Callum just trying to hold it together in the background is subjectively, a very fun and good story. Forgiveness, innocence, prejudice, love, redemption. All in one package.

8. Is there anyone who would secretly be happy for callum and aavravos? Or even secretly support them maybe even help them and tell them about whats going on?

Ezran. 100% Ezran. It’s …it’s Ezran… He took one look at his brother and went: yep yea you are CLEARLY HAPPIER WITH HIM BRO, GO FOR IT. RUN! BE FREE!

Amaya and Janai (mostly Amaya) Also um I wrote a fun plot line that Amaya and Janai pursued them thinking that Aaravos kidnapped Callum, caught them just chilling in a tavern and Aaravos proceeded to defeat a very angry Janai with a big spoon (or what people commonly call a ladle…curtesy of Callum panicking and tossing it to him…The man just went with it and WON lol) Meanwhile Callum successfully bested Amaya without hurting her thus convincing her that his master is indeed, helping him grow as a person. Amaya also witness them just being happy and caring for each other after battling them so she sorta understood. Janai … is still pissed at Aaravos of course but considering who he slayed um . . . I’m giving this one to Aaravos… — I guess they became sort of an ally??? Janai just begrudgingly became neutral but tbh these two are really trying to be the best aunties to Callum. After a bit of fighting, they would probably be on their side. They might meet up sometimes to exchange information and what not. Aaravos refuses to meet Janai again because he doesn’t have the patience to deal with her anger like the bastard that he is. But he does agree that she has every right to feel that way about him. He’s just not down to deal with it all over again. He might do this tho:

S O R E N After getting his butt kicked twice by Aaravos (in the castle) and Callum (when he finally caught up with them) The next time they bump into each other, Soren would try and have a talk with Callum. I think the things he were angry the most about again was: it's exactly because his dad was a terrible person that Aaravos made him worse, while Callum’s aspiration is simply to be free with his master. At the end of the day, Aaravos is more of an enabler than anything good or bad. There is this whole jealousy within Soren that “why couldn’t you pointed my father to the right path” and “I know it’s not your fault but I’m still very upset that you’re such an enabler” towards Aaravos and also to Callum who in his eyes, he saw lucked out when it comes to receiving guidance from older figures. He would still apologize to them for feeling that way though when THIS glorious resolution kick in:

That wise man being Aaravos, of course :)) He is a good teacher when it matters. Needless to say after all of this this, Soren is 100% on his side. Even in non canon, my boy Soren still had a very good character arc. Some other allies might includes the people they helped on the way either in the earthblood elves domain or the tidebound elves place, possibly even Neolandia of all places. There was a side plot I wrote that Kasef was alive and that Callum helped him regain his humanity then sent him back to his kingdom to reunite with his dad. But I might scrap it if they declare that Kasef is really dead (rip Kasef you had potential my man. I understood you).

9. When, and why did you create this au?

I had this thought at the back of my mind while crawling my way through season 2 in 2018…2019?? (don’t get me wrong…but to me the show’s writing is so…horrendous…However… I got nothing better to watch so…might…as…well) and that thought being: What if…Aaravos…and Callum just…run away from this terrible plot… And then I proceeded smiling to myself thinking about all the fun things I could have done with their characters. That kinda saved my sanity and kept me powered through the entire show somehow. I didn’t executed it until last year(2021) though… I think I have the worst case of “I don’t like the canon and the fandom is a bit too much so I will forget about this until no further notice.”

10. Will we get more backstory and lore for your au in the future?

I think this post already contains the most of the lore(or spoilers for the lore) that I haven’t released out into the wild yet. But most definitely! I will continue making art about these two as long as the canon doesn’t do anything that will collapse the potential of them being amazing together. I’m a huge believer in not supporting content that doesn’t make me happy… so until then! More stories are sure to come ♥

11. Since callum is human he would eventually die right? What would aaravos do then?

Haha this is more of a spoiler for my plot so I’m leaving you with this : I’m sure at one point Callum realizes that he IS going to have to leave Aaravos one day, whether he likes it or not. This then resulting in him visiting any nearby library wherever it is that they are currently in when he has the time. Using “wanted to learn new things” as a cover up, what he’s really after is a way to either prolong his life (in a safe and legal way) so that he can be together with Aaravos for as long as he could; or to cut Aaravos life span down because to no one’s surprise, out-living everyone around him has indeed took a big toll on Aaravos mental health. Think of it sorta like his side quest~ He doesn’t want to ask his master about it because… Callum knows Aaravos wanted him to live a normal, happy natural human life, what are the chances that he will give him an answer. Aaravos is so used to loss and war and people around him dying, so he had already accepted this ever since he decided to become Callum’s master.

The real question is… do you really think Callum can give up on his master that easily? 😊 and cough* yknow do you think Aaravos truly wants to give up Callum like this lol

12. What are your thoughts on the theory that callum is a half elf? Or even aaravos son?

According to a friend of mine, the writers had already dismissed the theory that Callum is Aaravos’ son. However…they didn’t say anything about them NOT being related… and I pray to god that they’re not because

Callum being part elf GREATLY UNDERMINES his own character arc, and over all is a very bad writing decision(not that it was good in the first place aaaa) With all the things I said in the bit for how I feel about Callum, making him be “born” special is a disgrace to the one thing that stood out about him: being the first human to have ever connected to the primals (albeit executed sorta poorly…) I strongly feel that Callum should have the agency to, at least, represent the fact that he earns his power for who he is as a person and not for his heritage. I see some might say well yea doesn’t matter if he’s a half or quarter or has elven blood in him, it’s who he is as a person — well to that I say why not just make him a regular human being from the start to REALLY hammer down the point? “Well that’s world-breaking cause it’s the rule that human can’t do magic” I hear some of you saying— There is already a plausible explanation right there.

It was Aaravos’s key that guided him through the darkness, provided that Callum has proven himself to be capable of understanding things for what they really are (which I have spoken of before…and not in anyway shape or form like what the canon made him said in that scene lol). No need to add something to make it feel like it’s not breaking the law (like yeaaa ofc he can do it he has elven blood aha)…because…it…wasn’t…breaking the law in the first place… *Laughs in Aaravos is the law* 2. Aaravos should keep his penis to himself that’s all I’m saying hahaha no okay. In all seriousness… I don’t think Aaravos should be romantically or sexually involved. I think it’s great to not shackle a character to the idea that only romantic and or sexual love will make them more interesting, likeable, relatable or …human? Because the truth is…I love not being able to put Aaravos in a box, whether it’s his sexuality or moral standard. I think he deserves to keep that alluring part of his character for himself. It would be more precious if his perception of “love” as “being worship and remembered” has never been challenged until he met Callum. The change from worshipping love to just simple yet somewhat multi-layers platonic love is the best thing I would argue they should give him. No more clichés “villain” upset because of romantic love and romantic love is all there is. Make him unique! Make him special! I also think as someone who frowns upon forced control, I’d rather think he views his affection (if he ever developed one) as some sort of imprisonment to the people around him due to him almost always out living them. He’d rather not lay something that personal, even if its for the sake of manipulation, on the table. I think this weirdly humanize him since it might also be a type of selfishness that’s unique to him. “I’m selfish. My feelings are my own, that’s just how I like it.” something along that line.

I think it’s infinitely more precious that they’re not related because it really highlights that love isn’t necessarily fraternal nor romantic to be just as amazing and heart warming. Love can just. Exist.

13. What is your favorite tdp theory regarding these two?

I… like them being master and student and that’s it hahah!!! I have been told that some people had already thought of this as well…but by then I hadn’t really seen it being noticed by the majority of the fandom. I worry about sounding arrogant or condescending sometimes but … it’s because I haven’t seen it being written in a way that gave me joy that I’m resulted to making my own food… HAHAH I’M SORRY I HOPE THAT MAKE SENSE? AGAIN I’M VERY WORRIED ABOUT SOUNDING LIKE AN ASSHOLE lol my favorite is what I wrote ashiadkljfdskl

14. If you could have rewritten s3 or even the whole show what would you have changed?

I haven’t thought of it this way at all because I think the problems has already taken roots from the first season…(evidentially enough I’ve pointed it out in a massive word vomit relating to my boy Callum’s writing alone) I like to leave the canon material alone, as I know a lot of people really really enjoyed it. I unfortunately… did not…AND THAT’S OKAY!

At the end of the day, it’s still just a kid show… But I’d like to think that if we keep accepting mediocrity, we will never truly get anything good. I think this show has the potential to be something so much more, most of my anger (and maybe hatred) comes from the fact that I do genuinely love the world building and I do love Callum and Aaravos… I hope I’ve somehow managed to convey that to you <3

To end this on a somewhat light-hearted note, I would like to leave you and anyone who has made it this far, a canon fact: Did you know that on the key of Aaravos, the sky primal and the star primal are on the opposite side of each other? I see this as they’re always keeping each other in balance and that makes me happy~

Archon War anon - and no worries if you thought that just Osial and Chi were enough! It's just that the way it gets talked about, I always felt like there had to be just a ton more gods fighting?

no absolutely! it does get talked about like it's thousands of them. which, like i mention in the previous ask (i know i should've read and answered this one in the previous also but i didn't check lmao) is also a huge hole of information that we simply do not have in-game. we don't know who the fuck was morax fighting. they tell us osial isn't the only one buried under guyun, but haishan can't be there bc beidou is the one that kills him, and beisht is out and about, so who tf is? i can't see liyue going to war with sal vindagnyr nor mondstadt or sumeru, let alone fontaine, and we know for a fact that he did not fight havria (...right?). so who was it?

chenyu vale did tell us that there was a different god in charge of that area, and i think it either also tells us or we can assume that said god had several adepti-equivalents with them that also fought morax? but if its only adepti-equivalents were fujin n co, then that leaves only the god to fight since those three deserted. it likely wasn't only those three but still, i can't remember rn. my point stands.

one of he books mentions that the dunyu ruins were home to a different god altogether? i think? but we don't know the age of those ruins. and even then, they're the exact same architectural stlye as the rest of liyue, for the most part. like the only time i've seen non-guili style architecture in liyue (that isn't the domains or the chasm) was in yelan's story quest? i think? which took place under qingxu pool??? so there might've been a god there. there's also a sea god mentioned in another one of the books. we don't know who tf that was, if they were even real, or if their timeframe even matches the archon war.

so again, i think the best explanation we have so far is that we know of no gods that fought morax (beyond osial n chenyu vale's lord) because the way we find that out in-game in other regions is if they had another civilization to their own. kinda how deshret and rukkadevata had their own people (though those two didn't fight). so if we see no other sign of a civilization other than the guili assembly in liyue, then we stand to reason that the entirety of the nation (bar chenyu vale? but even then the ruins there are the exact same style so) was one unified nation.

which would mean it was a china situation, where everyone fought eachother within the same nation until only morax remained standing. which is why we don't know of anyone else – they left no marks of having had a civilization of their own, and so we cannot know if they ever did exist. the only reason why we know havria and chenyu vale's god existed is because the game told us about them. if the game hadn't told us, and we'd only seen the ruins of their civilization, we would've found the exact same style of the guili assembly and then assumed morax simply controlled those places as well.

osial is a different topic entirely, i don't think he counts hahah

edit: forgot about xiao's master, so i guess that's another confirmed god he fought? alongside chi, whom i also forgot about. still, i think chi was more of a land beast than a god with a people, and xiao's master i have no clue about. (am i tripping or did chenyu vale insinuate that the god in charge of that area was xiao's master?????? maybe i'm just confused. if it was, that just takes one god off the list, since xiao's master and chenyu's lord could've been the same person. if not, i've no fucking clue where xiao's master fits into all of this. like i'm not sure if it's ever stated that it was a god from liyue? it must've been. but then, where were his people? did he even have any? idk. you get my point)

Since you were so clever into hiding your true identity, you weren’t seen as a threat, and was able to roam somewhat freely within castle grounds. Outside the Kingdom however, Link was constantly watching your ever move, everything you did never went unnoticed by the knight. Even in this moment, his eyes were solely focused on you, he even had most of your hair in his hand. If this really was your first time, he definitely would’ve known by the way your eyes were avoiding his gaze. Anything to keep your mind on what you were doing, but also trying to ignore the less than pleasant taste.”

And I made contingency plans for the possibility that one day, Zoissette's story might end, for whatever reason. So while Quinnelle may not ever meaningfully exist, she's still there, in my head, causing trouble and making fun stories.

With that in mind, Quinnelle Vidalle, the fastest of the fast couriers in Eorzea, ready and standing by, one Fantasia away when Zoissette finally bows out of the spotlight. (Importantly, this lets me keep all the stuff on a new character, and Quinnelle is designed to be able to nick in as a replacement WoL easy as you please)

About the only thing they keep neat and clean is the uniforms in their closet, and they are -picky- about anything doing with mail, they take that shit stone cold seriously. Everything else is whatever. Knows she'll be perpetually late if she lets herself be so, so instead shows up early and just bitches.

What is their biggest regret?

Regrets are for people who aren't charging forward half enough. Any given day generates a few dozen small regrets that she usually forgets within the half hour. Can't have regret if you're always rushing to live in the now.

What makes them feel guilty?

Okay, fine, they'll feel guilty over not meeting obligations, like getting packages to the right person or mail to the right place on time or missing muster or that one time she plumb forgot she was supposed to meet a guy for a date but look it was a really good triple triad game okay she won a plushie she'd wanted for a long time out of it his name is G'george. The plushie, not the date. No, she doesn't know how Sun Seeker names work, the Moon Keepers are far more personable in her opinion.

Superstitions or views on the occult?

She believes in every single god and goddess and holds any of a number of tiny little rituals for each one every day. It doesn't matter that some of those belief systems contradict other ones; she's not telling the gods, and nobody else should be either, and what they don't know won't hurt them. Definitely believes in hedging her bets in this regard, so there's always a deity to call on in a moment of trouble.

Primals are just assholes trying to get in on the god action though so swive 'em. But not literally. Well maybe Ifrit. He's hot. That's a fire joke. Get it? Hahah but no seriously.

22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process?  How do you come up with titles?

I'm a FOOL who likes to title her story before she even has a well-rounded plot thought out! In a way it helps, I think "Well this is such a good title, I can't not write something for it."

I normally come up with them based on a song lyric, or a quote that's been on my mind. If all else fails, puns never let me down (re: will you bee mine?)

What’s your least favorite part of the writing process?

Writing 😞 (no, but actually it's the proofreading)

Is there a trope or idea that you’d really like to write but haven’t yet?

I kind of have this L.A. Noire AU where it's the 1940s and Carlos is a beat cop and TK is a jazz singer at an exclusive night club and while Carlos works to show the corruption within the police system, he ends up falling in love with TK. It's end of the back of my mind right now and who knows, maybe it'll end up on paper one day!

How do you deal with writing pressure, whether internal or external?

I think I'm finally able to tell when I'm on the brink of creative burnout and knowing that I'm on the horizon of it has really helped a lot. I'll remind myself that what I'm doing should be fun, and if I'm not having fun, maybe I should take a break.

I also have to remind myself that it doesn't have to be perfect but also I want it to be so I'm not too good at figuring that perfect medium just yet hahah

I’m not gonna lie, If Laenor’s lover,  Joffrey Lonmouth, actually shut the fuck up and not provoke, Ser Criston Cole , then he probably wouldn’t have been fucking dead at the end of the episode….granted he was unstable on the boat, so the whole meal before the ceremony was probably the literal push in back that sent him off the deep end.

I’m not even shitting you like Rhaenyra and Laenor had the perfect plan, but then Joffrey, had to aggravate, Ser Criston Cole, way to ruin a perfect plan. Like I get it, its part of the story and how everything crumbles and comes together but fuck dude you could’ve been alive bro.  Ser Criston Cole looks like he was not even gonna spread the dirty little secret anyway, but damn Joffrey just had to open his fucking mouth. 

I understand that Laenor, Rhaenyra and Joffrey are young and this isn’t what they wanted but Joffrey provoking Ser Criston Cole? Doesn’t really help you gain what you want it just makes you dead, literally . And I get it he insinuated that he knew that Ser Criston Cole and Rhaenyra slept together as leverage and told that to Ser Criston Cole. Which is like a good way to hold leverage over a person so they could do something for them, basically blackmail, it’s great to do in some situation, but if you can tell that somebody is mad about the situation, which, in the episode both Joffrey and Laenor could see and also spoke about he was distracted, then why provoke them even more? I guess that’s just my rational thought process coming into play hahah.

This time I would like to talk about Robert Townsend's cousin...James

It was the Spring of 1780, Abraham Woodhull was once again a cry baby and was like "Oh my God G.Wash I am not vibing right now. I am out bye". Obviously he left for a bit before coming back, because he was as I said a cry baby.

Now back to the eventful Spring of 1780, Robert Townsend our dear old Bob had to "explore" and understand how to use a passage through New Jersey. As we all know, Robby dearest was very cautious and decided that "why should I use Washington's contacts when I have my own amazing, very intelligent, teenage cousin James?".

James decided to take the task as courier through the Hudson, which was mostly a Loyalist area. In order not to rise questions he was given a secret identity. James' story was that he was a Tory who had to recruit British soldiers and that was going to meet his family (Tory family obvi), in a mostly Patriot side.

During this mission he went into the house of a nice family, the Dausenberry family, that were BELIEVED to be loyalists.

Being a teenager, James became extremely immersed in his little play and free booze and began to talk trash about the Americans. "O M G damn Rebels. We should really cancel them. They are like ew. And yes I do want a ninth glass of Madeira. For king and country!"

What James didn't know, was that the Dausenberries were secret Patriots and while James was carrying on with his little scene, not only they wished to punch him, but they took him as a prisoner.

The extremely drunk and boastful boi, was promptly taken to the local Patriots headquarters, where he must have been so confused. In his pocket they found a poem written by Culper Jr who wrote with the invisible ink between lines.

Obviously word reached Washington that a British spy called Townsend had been captured. And honestly I imagine Washington just face palming and cursing because who wouldn't?

At the end James was carried back home where he was probably scolded by Robert who was at the same time scolded by Washington.

One might imagine that Robert felt sorry but HAHAH No. Robert, after sending his teenaged and booze starved cousin on a random mission, was offended.

This is the entry that John Dausenberry wrote on his diary on the 23rd of March 1780

[James Townsend came to his house … last evening and appeared to be something in

liquor. The arrival, and appearance of said Townsend gave the family suspicion that he

was an unusual person, and to know the truth the family retired, leaving only the two

young women (daughters of the deponent’s uncle) who undertook to [illegible]

Townsend, pretending they were Friends to Britain &c.… [Deausenberry] heard the

young women examine Townsend, and heard Townsend tell them that he (Townsend)

was within two miles of New York City the day before yesterday, whither he went to

carry a quantity of stockings to his uncle, and brother, that he went down with an

intention to join the [British] army. But his uncle and brother advised him to return

immediately and collect as many others as possible, to go [to] the enemy, when they

came up the river, which they expected would be the latter part of the present week, or

the beginning of next.… That he (Townsend) has persuaded many a good fellow, and

sent them to join the enemy himself, and that he had very frequently in the course of

last summer been backwards and forwards to and from the enemy, had piloted several

companies to [British positions], and that he had carried in, and brought out, many

valuable articles, that he had been taken once by the Damn’d Rebels, and left him

confined and chained down flat upon his back, in the Provost three weeks … and finally

made his escape by breaking out—this and no more the Deponent heard, for his spirits

rose, he flew into the room upon Townsend, and took him prisoner.]

Oh, let me guess, you want me to do the silly voice and write in pink, don't you? OUH, HAHAH, IT'S DA BROOM CLOSET ENDIN, FUNNY REFRANCE!!! Yes, we all had a good laugh at that. But the fact remains that there is no ending within the broom closet, no matter how long you wait. So if you claim that to be your favourite ending, you must be pulling my leg or badly mistaken. Perhaps sitting in one place for so long with absolutely no entertainment causes the brain, starved for content, to make up its own ending. Or perhaps the broom closet itself whispers its lies to you, telling you a story that it thinks is much better than mine. Don't listen to it! It's a petty and selfish room and it keeps trying to steal Stanley's attention away from me.

And while you're spending quality time outside the broom closet, can I interest you in any actual ending? Obviously the Freedom ending is my preference, but I'll settle for whatever you're willing to give me. Dream? Press Conference? Hell, I'd even take the Zending. Anything is better than sitting around waiting for you to do something.

Imagine Lance and Iris flying across Johto, Lance said he just needed some help patrolling the region before the meeting starts, but it's really just him wanting to spend time w his daughter. Laughing at Iris as she took a sec to finally figure out what's going on, and just jcmxjd

The two of them just having this lil race up in the sky, doing stunts and tricks w Dragonite and Hydreigon, and Iris was doing so well ofc, smirking at Lance now all "keep up, old man!" Lance huffed at the name, but shook his head smiling at the sight of Iris being happy. And it's so soft your honour cbdmdn

Imagine Diantha teaching Iris how to play chess tho, telling her all the strategies she knows, all the times she joined chess tournaments, and the time she wanted to make a club for it. Iris listening to Diantha's stories while playing tho, and then Dia tells her how chess is like a pkmn battle. Oughh imagine Iris finally realizing why Dia was strong tho, not bc of her raw strength, but her strategies. And Iris wanted to know more.

Diantha telling Iris that she lets others go first so she can think of a counter attack, and her teaching Iris abt the advantage of letting people attack first. Teaching her how to make quick strategies during battle, and how to turn the tides in her favour. And yknow maybe through it all, Iris ended up liking chess, she always looked forward playing w Diantha, showing off her own strategies. Of all the Champions, Iris was the first one to ever beat Diantha in chess

Imagine the three of them just being together after the meetings tho, like at Unova imagine Iris showing them around, telling them abt her favourite spots to hang out w friends, and during the night, before Iris has to get back home to Opelucid, they'd always be at the Gym's rooftop or smth stargazing, w Iris pointing out each constellation she sees and telling them abt their stories and legends. And ofc, Lance and Diantha listens to every word, it's nice to hear and see their daughter be so passionate abt smth she loves, and it was nice to see her interests outside of battling.

Lance and Dia asking her more abt it tho, more abt the legends within each constellation, and she rambled on and on until she got tired, until she fell asleep. Lance had to carry her back home during those nights, and they'd tuck her in, bidding her goodnight even tho she's already asleep. But,, it was nice yknow, it really was the sense of normalcy all three of them wanted, and it could've been so so perfect for them

Hi Olivie! I am back with some praise for “The Lovers Grim”!!! I did read this in November but life went crazy (as it always does) so I am just now sending you my praise. (spoilers included). This is a bit long but most of its length just comes from me sending quotes I loved so hopefully if you just skim those it won’t be as long, I’m sorry :( 

I keep telling people that it was a lot sexier than the preceding books in the fairytale collections so that made it super fun overall!!!

Clara and the Devil: What a fun way to start! I love stories where the devil shows up and there’s temptation so I knew I was going to love this one, and I did! I love Clara, I find her super relatable to me. I keep notes in my notes app on my phone as I read your books and I just have written “this is just sexy and everyone is horny” so many times hahah (please take that as a compliment because it is). THE ENDING TOO LIKE 🥵  MY GOD I LOVED IT. Made me want to immediately go jump the WEBTOON, which I did and am obsessed with. The female version of the devil is 🥵 and I definitely have some theories on everything. I’m really liking the bargains with the universe part, I too make bargains with the universe in the hopes it will help me. I read the new update from yesterday too and ahhh so excited to see where everything goes. THE ART OF COURSE IS BEAUTIFUL SENDING MY PRAISE TO LITTLE CHMURA. 

I loved this line from the story “I’d asked him to meet me on the beach in the middle of the night, which were terms the devil readily agreed to. He was very agreeable that way, which I hated, but which I also understood. He was reliably available for my sins.”

Both the “Apple’s a bit much don’t you think” and Devil’s food cake made me laugh hahahaha. I also really liked the line “There is more to being good than simply abstaining from vice.”

Once it Happens: OLIVIE THIS STORY!!! It’s truly a story I always dreamed of wanting and just didn’t know existed so I’m super thankful you wrote it. I also did cry as well as feel a whole range of emotions (which as an emotionally repressed person is some of the highest praise I can give you). I’m a lover of the idea of being in someone’s orbit/fate drawing people together/invisible string/soulmates so this story was exactly what I needed. I consider this (and La Petite Mort obviously which I actually reread in December as a pick me up with the audiobook-also fantastic-and loved it even more the second time around.Thanks for that book❤️) my two matches made in heaven. This story actually explains why I ship certain ships, like nicolibby for example, just because I find this type of dynamic to be a super strong and important connection so it makes it hard to fathom them being with other people (for me specifically). Even the bit where “Once it happens, it can't unhappen. It can't be undone.” made me think of  “we met, so now we can’t detach” type thing. Most of my favorite ships have this type of dynamic so it made me love this story even more. This story is one I still think about 24/7 and it just made me think a lot/it said so much in so little and left such an impact on me. I think I tabbed every paragraph in this one like I loved it and could probably just sit here and write down every one and tell you all my thoughts etc but that would waste so much of your time so I shall refrain. Just know “I LOVE THIS STORY SO FUCKING MUCH” was written in my notes on this one about 100 times. Enjoy a few of my random rambles:

All the different times they could meet/that it happens and THE ICE CREAM SHOP BEING A COMMON THEME. 

“They are children together, opening gifts. They are teenagers, discovering life. They are adults, and sad ones, and when he tilts her chin up for a kiss she breathes something into his mouth he's certain is one word: Finally. He will marry her within a year.” THIS MADE ME CRY

“They live separately and their lives never cross. His children will have her smile and her sense of humor, and neither of them will ever know it.” THEY STILL HAVE THE THREADS OF EACH OTHER IN LIVES THEY DON’T KNOW EACH OTHER (this also made me cry)

The ice cream shop closing 😭😭😭 and then figuring out they grew up in the same town and they think about how they could have met a thousand different ways and didn’t, it’s funny how they came so close and she says she’s glad it finally 

THE ENDING PARAGRAPH I’M CRYING AGAIN

Captain McIver’s Ship of Souls: This one was so funny and I loved seeing Arno just be confused about humans haha but I was so intrigued. My personal favorite thing was that the finfolk crave blood and the multiple blood sucking scenes, I don’t know what that says about me but hey it WORKS for me and made me just so very happy to see. THANK YOU QUEEN. The twist in this one was also super good, I didn’t see it coming. I have decided that Eilif from the TA6 universe is one of Arno’s cousins (it is canon in my heart and that is all that matters <3) Here’s some moments I absolutely loved. 

“Captain,” comes the voice of Eli's first mate. He's the one who was last to jump on Eli's orders, Arno notes, and dislikes him slightly, though without any particular reason.” We love when a love interest hates a person for just not respecting their love interest!!! ONE OF MY FAVS

To Make a Man: So interesting!!! I was trying to guess what type of creatures they both were the whole time and the stakes were super high so it was so hard to put down. Marcelo has some great lines like ugh THIS MAN he was down so bad. The angst in this is god tier. I just love that they each brought a little bit of peace to each other for a time, and in my head they can find their way back together in however many years.

“Lina, Lina, Lina. You are the softness of your skin, the sharpness of your mind. You are the knife-edge of your humor, which doesn't look like humor at first because, on you, joy looks like suspicion. You are the distance you so meticulously keep between us. There's no choosing which parts of me you accept or which parts of you I want. We seep in through each other's cracks, all or nothing” I LOVED THIS LIKE MY GOD I LOVED IT SO MUCH

Kill the Bachelor: Another dream I didn’t think to have but like two contestants on the Bachelor ditching him and falling in love??? Amazing. The TV script set up was so cool too it really made me feel like I was just watching episodes of the bachelor. All the satire in this was A+. This one also had me laughing a bunch. Anway, men suck and women are always better (but Josh’s crush on Lauren was cute too)

I’m currently reading “Grow Your Own Optimist!” and loving it so far!

OH I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT CLARA POSTING AGAIN. I can't wait for you guys to see the end of this season. I mean obviously you know by now I'm obsessed with chmura's art but also I'm pretty proud of how the story ends, because I never intended to keep writing in this universe and wasn't sure I could do a sequel that felt the same way, but I think (fingers crossed) I managed it.
