I just had finished LoK and I just can’t believe the dirty the creators did in my baby Lin.

I understand the narrative decision on not making it end on and endgame Tenzlin but guys I expected more of us. I went running to AO3 and there were dust on the selves. I’m the first to rot for lesbians and I can see a Kya Lin but where are my PemaxLinxTenzin

1) i dont ship sukitara because i genuinely think they would be like the best gal pal duo. to me ive always seen them as super close best friends and they remind me of me and my best friend because my best friend is katara to a goddamn t. (she thinks im zuko but our dynamic is such a suki katara friendship) and idk i rlly just prefer them as best friends

2) maybe is the ship didnt remind me of my best friend and i i could ship it more. also if past sukka is in the equation i rlly dont think katara would date sokkas ex. i dont see that in the equation i dont think shed do that to him because i have a feeling sokka could be kinda weird ab that like bro thats my sister. hed be supportive ofc but also like,, i think itd be awk.

3) just as all the other ships i dont ship if i saw a rlly good argument as to why they could work or maybe a rlly cute fic or fanart of them my opinion could be easily swayed! my opinions on ships change all. the. time. i used to not shup zutara and then i saw the CUTEST fanart for them and decided “i need to read a fic for them rn to see if i actually like it” and the zutarians reccomended so many amazing fics and now i firmly ship zutara! who knows i may ship sukitara tomorrow lmao

1) i like the idea of it but idk im still linda sceptical ab it. i still see them as best friends hut also... best friends to lovers is an ELITE TROPE. like theyd already be so close and know everything ab one another and just add love and romance to it? omg so cute. shit i think i may have just changed my own mind ab it LMAO

2) seeing as there is no past sukka in this form of the ship i like it a lot better because siblings dating exes always sits weird with me. like if i dated one of my sisters ex boyfriends that would be soooooooo weird to me. but thTs just me!! and since there is no past sukka thats not an issue anymore. okay yeah ive changed my mind i do ship sukitara with no past sukka lmao. i think if sukka was a ship at some point in whatever universe theyre in theyd end up married lol. i dont believe in past sukka. its sukka or bust for me. but not past sukka means sokka and suki are shipped with other ppl in my little universe im thinking of. i dont know if any of this makes sense oopsies.

3) i guess since ive decided i ship this now something i dislike about the ship is the fact that ive literally seen maybe one (1) piece of content for them and that was as a minor minor minor background ship for a zukka fic. if i rlly wanna ship this im gonna need more content lol.

1) i ship this so hard because even watching lok for the first time the first time i saw lin i thought she was gonna be a lesbian and then they said she used to date tenzin and i was like,,, wtf. im sorry i could never picture the two of them together. but kyalin makes so much sense in my fantasy. when i first saw fanart for them i was like omg this is gorgeous.

2) i like this ship because theyre both badass milfs. i like old wlw relationships because so many wlw relationships are between teenagers or young adults in lretty much any fandom and this gives fans a fanon glimpse of some lasting loving older wlw (for lack of better word) representation (ik its not representation since it isnt canon but its the best word i can think of) and i think thats so heartwarming and cute because we deserve stories of wlw relationships that last past teenage and young adult years. lifelong loves people!!!

3) i genuinely dont have anything i dislike ab this ship. i see content for them a LOT and i dont rlly read lok fics all the much but im sure if i did i think id see a decent amount of kyalin stories because of how popular they seem to be on tumblr. also suggestion: kyalinzumi. i saw some art for the three of them once and even tho i lowkey ship izumi wnd bumi ii i thought oh my god this is SO CUTE. and i loved it. just something to think about. i love milfs lmao.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Some rest Pema.

My unpopular opinion about this character: A parallel to Zuko, just in a less extreme way.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Her trauma was acknowledged past one (1) episode, or at the very least that it wasn’t played for laughs.

Do burr leia and lin (beifong of course)

How I feel about this character: I don’t understand why he’s so forgotten by the fandom given that he’s one of the main three characters and I don’t understand why Hamburrger isn’t the juggernaut FoeTP in the fandom. Especially since in the early days of the fandom, Hamburrger was pretty popular and there was a lot of analysis about Burr. But uh in the early days of the fandom there were also a lot more big name fans of color and a lot more discussions of racism and Leslie’s a dark-skinned black man so uh maybe I do understand :))))

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Hamburrger and Theoburr are both really interesting, and both because they’re kind of wrecks, but in very different ways. Hamburrger is two people that are so drastically different that they find a sense of equilibrium and greater purpose with one another, however precarious. Theoburr is two people who are so alike that they are completely in sync, to the point where they can do really cruel things to one another and still move past it, even when maybe they shouldn’t. They’re both great ships.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: I wrote a trainwreck Burrens fic and I’ve been seeing people straight up shipping them since and like… I really can’t see that working. But I can see the two of them finding some common ground in all the things they repress, and coming to a kind of respect and fondness from that. Also I love how Laurens is such a flirty asshole with Burr.

My unpopular opinion about this character: Hamburrger is too good a ship name for people to be using Hamburr instead. Also apparently controversial, he wasn’t a feminist. 

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.: We had actually gotten to hear or see the Theodosias, particularly since the two of them were both very opinionated and prominent women who saved Burr’s ass countless times.

How I feel about this character: I love the “tough, highly competent older woman with a heart of gold” trope and I think it’s so important and Lin gets so much complexity and development and I love her you guys ugh now I really want to change my icon back.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: I think her and Izumi would be such a great and nerdy power couple. Iroh II and his sister would kind of despair at how they ended up with two Tough Moms but love and admire Lin to death at the end of the day.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Mako’s relationship with her is pretty much the only thing that can make me like his character. I also wish we had gotten to see more of her with Opal, I think that could have been really sweet. And it would be nice for Opal to have someone to talk to who both knew what she was going through, and was straightforward and nonjudgmental. 

My unpopular opinion about this character: I don’t really like that Tenzlin was a thing tbh :\ And I especially don’t like how they made it seem like one-sided resentment on Lin’s part. 

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.: I still haven’t watched all of LOK, so I don’t think I can totally answer this yet. But I feel pretty safe in saying: more.

Summary: One-shot. "Amon’s thumb crashed against her forehead, her eyes shooting open, and pain filling her whole body. But she never in her life, felt stronger."

“Have you ever been in love, Mom?”

  “I’m in love with a lot of things, Lin.”

  “I mean, with a guy.”

  “Is this about Tenzin?”

  “Just answer the question.”

  “Yes.”

  “Did you ever love again?”

  “I never stopped.”

  There’s a crack of a metal whip. The net is sliced to pieces in midair, falling defeated downward towards the bay. Lin stands, her back to the air bending family as she looked forward towards the oncoming Equalist air ships, and they were gaining ground—fast. Tenzin had asked her to protect his family, and that’s what she intended to do. She was going to protect them with everything she had.

  She looked back at the small family made whole by a little bundle of brown haired laughter sitting tucked in Pema’s arms. Pema had always been beautiful, in an ordinary sort of way. At first it killed Lin to see Tenzin running off with her, but who could blame him? This woman, this non-bender, had given him the most beautiful family. She gave but never asked, helped but never harbored, and she stood like a rock against Tenzin’s free nature. Lin remembered a time when she would have done anything to be that.

  Tenzin loved Pema differently than he had loved her all those years ago. Years ago when Lin believed that Tenzin was going to be the one to hold her at night when she didn’t feel like being strong, ask her to bear his children, and love her when she couldn’t love herself. She had loved him so much, as much as she was capable. Then came this doe-eyed beautiful non-bender with a sharp wit and gentle heart. All it took was one confession and Tenzin fell from Lin’s grasp like a sack of cabbages. Suddenly Pema had the man who was supposed to be Lin’s.

  And the hatred she held for Pema was unfathomable.

  But that’s the way life worked, Lin realized. Years of bitter feelings and an icy heart had finally seen the truth. The truth that sometimes the one you love won’t love you back, and sometimes they’ll fall in love with someone else. But Lin never stopped, no, she never stopped loving Tenzin. She never stopped remembering the way they raced through the streets of Republic City, hyped up on teenage rebellion, and the way he taught her how to dance one night in the city square, or the night when Katara caught them kissing under the archway of the air temple. It was the little things she’d never forget about him, those little things that seemed to thaw her heart at the mere thought.

  And it still hurt, looking at them. Especially that kid, the green-eyed baby who was laughing at absolutely nothing. If Lin closed her eyes she could imagine herself holding the child, she would name him something strong. Something that would make him feel like he belonged in this family of fighters. Her own son. He would be her and Tenzin’s son. The family she always wanted, and the family she would never get.

  She took one last glance backwards, her mind made up. She loved Tenzin enough that she would do anything for him, and doing anything for him meant doing anything for his happiness. The painful truth was, these beautiful kids belonged to him and his wife, and they were what made him happier—happier than anything in the world. It was all Lin could do now, assure his happiness.

  Watch him love another woman, because she loved him.

  “Whatever happens,” She called back, “Don’t turn back!”

  “Lin! What are you doing?!” She heard Tenzin scream from behind her as she clung onto the broken arm of the net, swinging her body onto the pursuing airship, leaving Oogi and the family of air benders behind her.

  -o-o-o-o-

  “Tell me where the Avatar is, and I’ll let you keep your bending.” Amon crooned, his masked face staring daggers down at her disheveled face.

  Her hands were bound in front of her, her body still weak from the electric shock but her mind completely aware of what was happened. No matter what information she did or didn’t give him, she was going to lose her bending. There was no way out of it. This was the end.

  But she had learned long ago that you could never really lose anything. Her mother never really lost her vision, she just saw differently than others. Just like she would never really lose Tenzin’s love, she just had to learn to love him differently.

  After all, this was all for him.

  “I won’t tell you anything, you monster!” She barked, his feet quick to circle around her. She felt his thumb press deeply into the back of her neck, her head tilted back.

  She closed her eyes, and thought of him. She hoped he had gotten the family somewhere safe, that Pema was safely tucked away with the new baby and the children, and that Tenzin no longer had to be neither scared for them nor helpless in the fight. She wondered if he ever thought about her, or if he was even thinking about her now.

  Amon’s thumb crashed against her forehead, her eyes shooting open, and pain filling her whole body. But she never in her life, felt stronger.

  “Why do you ask?”

  “I’m just curious.”

  “You know Twinkle Toe’s son is an idiot for breaking up with you.”

  “Yeah, thanks Mom.”

  “Did you love him, Lin?”

  “For some reason—I feel like I’ll never stop.”
