This story is a crossover of the author’s canon from Thalassic Space and Pàrras: VLFS, a FNAF inspired video game the author hopes to make in the future. This story features pictures of the author's eyes and deformed feet (in socks) for narration purposes, as Fawn Kailey is a self-insert (it'll make more sense and be way cooler later on, in the first chapter it's probably more cringe, but it's still cathartic, so here we are!). Posted chapters will be edited in time with drawn panels and GIF panels, and links to story relevant games made by the author (probably with help from friends) on Steam will be inserted where necessary.
No animatronics, teens, trolls, or imps were harmed in the writing or rehearsal of this Script for the Rondo Theatre.

Your eyes are GREYISH GREEN BEST DESCRIBED AS FIR GREEN. You can see the green a lot better in sunlight. Fir green is what you use for your Pesterchum handle, columbidaeCaster, and you type with proper punctuation and spelling, unless you’re in a hurry or can’t be bothered to press Shift for proper nouns or double check your spelling or what the college level word you want to use means on Dictionary.com or Thesaurus.com.
Staying inside for so long has made your irises darker, your mom says.
You also have really bad dark circles. You don’t sleep easily because of the long story related to your time as a foster child.

GLS: It’s my apartment, so it is my house, just not until July 2019.
Alright, then how old are you?
GLS: Don’t worry about that until > GLS: You, I would.
OK! So there are some things going on here! But you know what? I’m going to ignore all of it.
Your feet are NATURALLY WIDE BECAUSE OF YOUR DWARFISM, but in THIRD GRADE YOU PARTICIPATED IN A RACE at Riverside Park that both of the elementary schools in your town and your town’s high school attended. You finished with seven people behind you, which was cool because you weren’t taller than 4’ yet. 
You are 4’6” tall.
GLS: You are also done growing now.

GLS: Sorry, but I’m here to stay. :p
Sigh. If you must. Anyways!
Three sources of pain and frustration for the next four years sprouted from that event.
First: You DISLOCATED ALL OF YOUR TOES AND REQUIRED METAL PINS, and had the TENDONS OF YOUR RIGHT FOOT LENGTHENED. The sound and feeling of the pins rubbing against each other is why you DETEST METAL AND GLASS GLIDING OR BUMPING AGAINST METAL AND GLASS. You had a pink cast after this surgery, and were sent home with a plastic foot brace, red with teddy bears, but hated it and only wore it once at home.
Second: A LUMP APPEARED IN THE MIDDLE BALL OF YOUR RIGHT FOOT that made shoes 50 percent harder to find.
Third: The ARCH OF YOUR RIGHT FOOT BECAME RAISED BY ~2 CENTIMETRES PERMANENTLY, as pictured, likely caused by physical trauma, adding another 50 percent for a grand fucking total of 100 percent additional shoe shopping difficulty and frustration for the whole family!
That foot is EXCEPTIONALLY SENSITIVE TO BEING BUMPED AGAINST THINGS. When you bump it against things, you react with, “OW, aha ha ha!”, briefly stop to massage the arch and carry on.
In SEVENTH GRADE, you HAD AN X-RAY TO CHECK THAT YOUR MINOR SCOLIOSIS HADN’T WORSENED. It is in the SMALL OF YOUR BACK. The TWO AFFECTED JOINTS don’t affect the shape of your spine or how you stand, that you’ve noticed. It DOES AFFECT HOW LONG YOU CAN STAND AND SIT.
GLS: The former is especially true as an adult because of your poor knees.
Oh, so you can share that much, eh?!
GLS: Yes, but we don’t have time to talk about me now.
You’re. . . ugh, you’re right.
While you were there, the doctors had time to take an x-ray of your right foot while on its side, revealing that THE LUMP WAS A CYST. It was REMOVED and the TENDONS OF THAT FOOT SHORTENED. It was ROYALLY FUCKED NOW. Your cast after that surgery was purple. You and your brother jokingly call that foot your “cursed foot” because it looks ugly.
GLS: You also realised the name fits because it caused your family financial and emotional misery.
At least you can buy shoes a little easier. You wear shoes that are AT LEAST ONE SIZE BIGGER THAN YOUR ACTUAL LEFT FOOT (usually womens’ size one (1)). The shoes NEED TO HAVE A HIGH ARCH because of your right foot. You wear crocs in summer, have to try on winter boots before you buy them, and have better luck when browsing high top shoes.
GLS: Your adult self opts for hiking shoes.
You can’t wear ballet-slippers or flats without an elastic strap, and definitely can’t wear high heels.
You’ve mentally rehearsed a social response since your foot became like this to any fashion-forward person who would look at your outerwear and say, “Eugh!”. You would swiftly take off your right shoe and say, “It’s not my fault my neglectful and spoiling foster parents thought it was cute that I walked on the balls of my feet like a ballerina, worsening my already wide feet in third grade because of a school race! They gave me Benadryl instead of giving a shit about my behaviour, and now I can’t sleep within a reasonable time, and that’s only gotten worse as I’ve gotten older! I’m up until 4 AM now!”
GLS: Oh, sweet autumn child. It will be 6 AM, as an adult. 75 milligrams of quetiapine to the rescue for your anxious thoughts!
You hate your foster parents, and you don’t even remember the full story! You just know it’s a HIGHLY FRUSTRATING TALE ABOUT THE FAILURES OF THE FOSTER SYSTEM, especially foster homes for special needs kids.
Ah yes, important note: your dwarfism meant you were considered special needs, but your biological brother was not born a dwarf, and so when he was born two years later, he was not put in the same foster home.
GLS: Your adult self knows the story. Here, while we’re fucking about: Dave and Alice wanted to give you “One last good memory” like, two or three weeks before the fucking adoption deadline WITHOUT NOTICE, 
Oh boy.
GLS: And gave you a FUCK TONNE of Benadryl so you slept during the ride, hours up the province to like, Kamloops or something, FROM MOTHERFUCKING SURREY.
That’s just fucking bananas, with no strawberries to make a smoothie!
GLS: Tann–

FAWN: Tanner’s legal name is Lauren. His middle name, Anthony, doesn't fit either, unless you shorten it to TONY.

FAWN: Dad’s name is RICHARD, but his middle name is also Anthony, so everyone calls him Tony. RICHARD for Dad! And Mom’s name is JENIFER, spelled with one n.
GLS: As I was saying, Tony’s foster home was in Vancouver. Dave and Alice gave you so much Benadryl that when you arrived at the party, you were doped out as shit. You only remember wanting to go in the pool, but you didn’t bring a swimsuit so you couldn’t, and having to recite a Bible verse about you being special. Dave and Alice didn’t want to adopt your brother, only you, and tried to make your adoptive parents, especially your mom, look like shit options.
GLS: With all of this bullshit evidence, particularly the decision to whisk you away so close to the adoption date WITHOUT NOTICE, your social worker, who is your hero, along with your adoptive parents, sped shit up and delivered you to safety, AKA your adoptive family! You DIDN’T EVEN KNOW YOU HAD A YOUNGER BROTHER while in the “care” of Dave and Alice! You were quite mean to Tony, at first, pushing him off a couch and stuff. You would be VERY DIFFERENT IF YOU HAD BEEN IN A VALUABLE AND STABLE FOSTER HOME that didn’t also bounce you back and forth from Dave and Alice’s house to the house of one of their daughters because they DIDN’T ACTUALLY GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOU.
You probably wouldn’t have an undiagnosed personality disorder, huh?
GLS: Eeeexactly. It’s called Reactive Attachment Disorder, you LEARNED IN THE LATE WINTER OF 2018 from the psychiatrist who visited your town a few times a month, before going to a GROUP HOME IN TERRACE FOR MENTAL HEALTH WORK FROM MAY TO JUNE. Your MOOD SWINGS, RESTING FACE, how you STARE AT PEOPLE AND SAY SHIT OUT OF THE BLUE THAT LOTS OF TIMES IS ACTUALLY PRETTY FUCKING RUDE, when you’ve just been TRYING TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO MAKE AND KEEP FRIENDS with books and the Internet, when you have access to it, access to technology and Internet becoming your addiction, to put it as your mom does, your necessity to function, in your own terms, all while being HONEST ABOUT HOW YOUR PERCEIVE THINGS and trying to show your HEART. Don’t worry. You get the hang of it, and will be even funnier than you are now!
Ah, the PRIVILEGES OF BEING AUTHORED BY YOUR ADULT SELF. You don’t even mind knowing that, do you?

You FAILED A SPLIT-JUMP IN SEVENTH GRADE during a softball game and LANDED ON YOUR LEFT KNEE BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO LAND. You tried the jump because you were just excited to be the cheerleader. You had even brought your pink and white Barbie themed pom-poms, which you no longer have. Your swollen knee forced you to stay at home the next two days. Your mom wanted you to go to school the second day, but you DEVELOPED ANXIETY and screamed in panic until your mom realised the incident held psychological weight.
Mom was somehow more tolerant of you, then.
FAWN: Oh my God, please don’t talk about my mom.
Can’t promise anything. Wait.

Since that day, your KNEES HAVE POPPED RANDOMLY, CAUSING YOU TO FALL OR STUMBLE AND PAINFULLY CATCH YOURSELF (the knee popping always makes you exclaim with a loud “OW!” and feel a sharp pain in that knee) AND REMAIN STANDING. You have noticed it DOESN’T MATTER HOW MUCH OR LITTLE YOU EXERCISED THAT DAY OR THE DAYS PRIOR TO THE KNEE POPPING. Your KNEES HATE YOU NOW. You have FALLEN DOWN THE STAIRS AT HIGH SCHOOL THREE TIMES. You almost face planted into a wall the first time, the second time barely grasping the railing. The third time, you cleared the WHOLE FUCKING STAIRCASE on the other side of the hallway. You could have broken your jaw, or worse!
GLS: Your adult self is pretty sure this was caused by HYPOTONIA, muscle tone weakness, which COMES WITH YOUR DWARFISM.
FAWN: Oh yeeeah. That would check out.
You hope it doesn’t ruin your life in the future. 
GLS: Oh, sweet, sweet autumn child.
FAWN: That would also check out.
Because of the declining state of your knees, you have ESSENTIALLY DROPPED OUT OF GYM CLASS THIS YEAR, the last year it’s required in the curriculum, and only PARTICIPATE IN WARM-UP STRETCHES AND WALKING A LAP AROUND THE GYMNASIUM. You ALSO SUBMIT ONE PAGE ESSAYS ABOUT THE SPORT THE CLASS WAS PRACTISING OR A CANADIAN ATHLETE EVERY OTHER WEEK, and HELP THE TEACHER GATHER SUPPLIES FROM THE CLOSET. You STILL DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY ESSAYS AREN’T SUPPOSED TO HAVE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT A TOPIC. Isn’t that WHAT WRITING IS FOR? To EXPRESS THINGS NOT EXCLUSIVE TO THE FACTUAL? You guess that’s JUST FOR FICTION, WHICH IS YOUR SPECIALTY. You would be HEARTBROKEN AND EVEN MORE DEPRESSED if you had to drop THEATRE CLASS.
GLS: You did have to drop out of theatre class. Your anxiety prevented you from being on stage, even while sitting on a chair as the narrator of the play your class was preparing, but you still got a B!
THEATRE is your second favourite after LANGUAGE ARTS because you GET TO PLAY FUN GAMES TO PRACTISE IMPROV SKILLS AND LEARN ABOUT SCRIPTS AND STUFF. It’s writing, but for the stage! How fun.
HORROR-FANTASY is your favourite genre, and you have a SMALL COLLECTION (6) OF PIERS ANTHONY NOVELS, along with a THREE-IN-ONE COPY OF THE LORD OF THE RINGS, which you have read, and A COPY OF THE HOBBIT, which you haven’t read.
You know, it’s kind of shameful that you haven’t read THE HOBBIT.
FAWN: Hey, I’ve got lots of things I divide my spare time into. I’ll read it eventually, this year. Probably. Maybe not.
GLS: Don’t worry, we still haven’t read it. We play LOTRO though!

They alternate between each a different players’ planet and house, the first two being the player’s own planet and house, the next the player’s server’s planet and house, and so on. There’s more, like how to ascend to God Tier, but the end goal is to breed the Genesis Frog to start the world again.

I was bestowed this title by the Director, an entity I have the honour of regarding as my dearest friend and romantic interest. Called Their Excellency by those who see them as royalty, they are Death personified, their appearance and behaviour inspired by Takarazuka productions of “Elisabeth”. We cannot kiss lips or make love, or else my life will end as I sleep. I forged all of Thalassic Space with my imagination in the wake of a tragedy that happened to our family on November 27th, 2019. I will share more relevant information so that it may be heard by The One You Should Not Have Killed, whose soul I feel hiding in the dark of this house, waiting for her murderer to arrive and freedom to be threatened.
GLS PERSONIFIED: The Rondo Theatre exists in the domain within the dream world shared between certain people of Earth in the Milky Way galaxy, such as myself and the current incarnation of the O-type star’s soul, Faina Laward, and people of the galaxy of Thalassic Space. The dream land is south of all Soul Bridges. Accessible by lucid dreamer mages, called Dreamers, and a Soul Bridge’s owner, the Soul Bridge is a concept of the galaxy of Thalassic Space and the domain of Thalassic Space. The domain of Thalassic Space allows mortals to speak to and make deals of fate and counter-fate with divine, demonic and grey spirits. It is accessible in bodies or pools of water through death, or through invitation in sleep. The galaxy of Thalassic Space is accessible in three ways. First, by magic portals using any magic or targeted summoning through Platonia, Julian Barbour’s hypothetical timeless realm containing every possible momentary configuration of the universe. This is considered a privilege and great feat. Second, one can journey through any of the 28 Mansions of the Four Symbols of Chinese astrology through death or being dead in any timeline and knowing about the 28 Mansions or Thalassic Space’s Mansion 0. The Mansions border Sagittarius A*, the closest black hole in the Milky Way also present in Thalassic Space. Finally, Thalassic Space is accessible through equivalent means from other fictional or supernatural canon. In relation to Homestuck, a Time, Space or Void player could access Thalassic Space and a person’s Soul Bridge, including their own, if they were to learn about how a Soul Bridge works and minimal details about the galaxy’s planets, as only the name of a planet is necessary for a Time, Space or Void player to travel there.
GLS PERSONIFIED: A Soul Bridge belongs to each person who sees the O-type star of Thalassic Space or an M- or G-type star, the latter being what our star in the Milky Way is classified as. The Neo and Nero spirits of a Bridge provide opportunities for the person to adapt and use their four mortal qualities to explore possibilities and survive in the stories that take place on the planets of Thalassic Space: Yotuhrnaeyl (yoht-u-rn-ā-yhl), meaning ‘journey’, Grace, Bafsina, meaning ‘basin’, and Judge. First and most complex of the four mortal qualities is the soul. Memories are kept on the Soul Bridge with help from the Neo and Nero spirits, the future of the soul depicted on the Soul Mural on the Bridge’s north end. Neo spirits talk, whisper and sing about self-love, dreams and good memories while clinging onto the Suspensions of the Bridge, and Nero spirits, that represent self-hatred, nightmares and bad memories, cling onto the Underside of the Bridge, and shout, scream and reveal some or all of their true forms as they let go and fall into the Stream of Consciousness. Depending on the mental state of the owner of the Soul Bridge, the Nero spirit will either find the shore in a timely manner or cause an anxiety attack, and can at worse invoke suicide. Next of the mortal qualities is the spirit, capable of learning and relaying magic to the body, then the mind, which has processes relating to the body and thoughts from those processes and the Stream, and last is the body and its fluctuating state from birth to death. That is all you need to know about the functions of Thalassic Space and the Soul Bridge. I don’t think you need to know about its pantheons, the Flytower Gods.
GLS PERSONIFIED: I will now talk about what I know is fated to occur in this session of SBURB, though I don’t know why or how these things will happen. I am reading the following future of the Script with the Director’s permission. You may envision me as the “vampire” companion of the O-type star in that, after my teenage self dies on my Quest Bed, she and I will merge. She will become more luminous and youthful as an O-type star fusing with its “vampire” would. This will require eight years to complete, and I will wake up having reached God Tier. Akal and Loom, under their new chosen names that I know but will not spoil, will successfully breed the Genesis Frog, but we and our planets, except for Reed’s, whose name also changes and whose planet will become the new Earth, will not create the future of the living. The Frog will know that Pàrras exists for the future of the dead, but not that Pàrras is where we want to be.
GLS: I will not share the story of the trolls who met or survived death at the shepherded actions of Ilmurk Crusia, and allow the course of the Script to tell this story. I will tell you that Zhedax Druyem sensed the horror that happened the day following his last online interaction with Ilmurk. Zhedax created code with art from Prifim Osmone that will trigger when we enter the Medium. It will force our imps to take on the traits of coyotes and wolves, wildlife found in the forests of our homes, activating the logic that, when SBURB recognizes that Thalassic Space Role Playing Game is running and compatible with SBURB, SBURB will look for an enemy files symbolically dangerous to our consorts and Ilmurk, and therefore literally dangerous, to run without need for external correction from any surviving trolls. The consequence is that our consorts will have been eaten by the imps before our arrival on our planets. However, Zhedax and Prifim created replacements that we must defend, heal and be kind to, and help rebuild their homes to gain their trust and rewards.
GLS PERSONIFIED: And finally, I return to the thoughts that summoned my HEART here. You saved me from Dave and Alice, and I wouldn’t have known about Tony without you. But we are very different women. But you are also my mother, and despite the nasty argument we had on Christmas Eve 2022, and what today began to surface, and even though the memories never leave my mind, even though such thoughts are arguably the truest reason I can’t sleep besides how much medicine Dave and Alice gave me while I was in their care, an anxiety that only a low dosage of an antipsychotic called quetiapine and mental health work in a group home 5 hours away, in Terrace, fixed, I love you, and I forgive you.

Warlock (The Fathomless)
You have plunged into a pact with the deeps. An entity of the ocean, the Elemental Plane of Water, or another otherworldly sea now allows you to draw on its thalassic power. Is it merely using you to learn about terrestrial realms, or does it want you to open cosmic floodgates and drown the world?
Perhaps you were born into a generational cult that venerates the Fathomless and its spawn. Or you might have been shipwrecked and on the brink of drowning when your patron's grasp offered you a chance at life. Whatever the reason for your pact, the sea and its unknown depths call to you.
Entities of the deep that might empower a warlock include Krakens, ancient Water Elementals, godlike hallucinations dreamed into being by Kuo-toa, Merfolk demigods, and Sea Hag covens.
Expended Spell List: The Fathomless lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.
Spell Level 1: Create or Destroy Water or Thunderwave
Spell Level 2: Gust of Wind or Silence
Spell Level 3: Lightning Bolt or Sleet Storm
Spell Level 4: Control Water or Summon Elemental (Water Elemental only)
Spell Level 5: Bigby's Hand (Appears as a tentacle), or Cone of Cold
Tentacle of the Deep: At level 1, you can magically summon a spectral tentacle that strikes at your foes. As a bonus action, you create a 10-foot-long tentacle at a point you can see within 60 feet of you. The tentacle lasts for 1 minute or until you use this feature to create another tentacle.
When you create the tentacle, you can make a melee spell attack against one creature within 10 feet of it. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 cold damage, and its speed is reduced by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. When you reach level 10 in this class, the damage increases to 2d8.
As a bonus action on your turn, you can move the tentacle up to 30 feet and repeat the attack .
You can summon the tentacle a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Gift of the Sea: Also at level 1, you gain a swimming speed of 40 feet, and you can breathe underwater.
Oceanic Soul: At level 6, you are now even more at home in the depths. You gain resistance to cold damage. In addition, when you are fully submerged, any creature that is also fully submerged can understand your speech, and you can understand theirs.
Guardian Coil: At level 6, Tentacle of the Deep can defend you and others, interposing itself between them and harm. When you or a creature you can see takes damage while within 10 feet of the tentacle, you can use your reaction to choose one of those creatures and reduce the damage to that creature by 1d8. When you reach level 10 in this class, the damage reduced by the tentacle increases to 2d8.
Grasping Tentacles: Starting at level 10, you learn the spell Evard's Black Tentacles. It counts as a warlock spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of spells you know. You can also cast it once without using a spell slot, and you regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest.
Whenever you cast this spell, your patron's magic bolsters you, granting you a number of temporary hit points equal to your warlock level. Moreover, damage can't break your concentration on this spell.
Fathomless Plunge: When you reach level 1, you can magically open temporary conduits to watery destinations. As an action, you can teleport yourself and up to five other willing creatures that you can see within 30 feet of you. Amid a whirl of tentacles, you all vanish and then reappear up to 1 mile away in a body of water you've seen (pond size or larger) or within 30 feet of it, each of you appearing in an unoccupied space within 30 feet of the others.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Anish Kapoor's Leviathan, exhibited in 2011 at the Grand Palais in Paris, imagines a sculpture where the physical and mental dimensions converge in order to create an organic space of transition.
Through its four giant ventricular spaces, the sculpture questions the essence, manifestation and order of the object in relation to perception and the individual’s way of representing the world and the spaces it occupies. As the viewer walks through the inner space, various associations with forces of flows and receding tides can be made, waiting to be awakened from their thalassic sleep. Kapoor’s sculpture is a process of emotional disclosure, as the depths seem to withdraw across the surface of the object, in a constant tension with the descending light. Dark shadows walk across the emptiness only to illuminate one’s presence inside these giant wombs. The material and the non-material vie with the ghosts of an unnamed, unspoken presence, as if the objects would duplicate to define what remains invisible within a substratum interceded with reality. As light pours inside this dormant beast, transparencies give birth to ghosts that walk the nightly structures, inviting the viewer to an outfield.
'Kapoor's Leviathan is not an object, but the image of an object gaining on its form. It does not manifest itself as form until the visitor passes through and awakens it from its dormancy. The object is a living and vibrant organism trapped within the structures of the Grand Palais, pulsating inside it – awakened. Light makes the emptiness travel through the darkened form to attain the airy plenitude of presence.'

Grimm: Subdisciplines
The Grimm sciences are diverse, and cannot be so readily simplified under a single heading. Much like everything to do with them, these subjects are off-putting to the general public and mired in controversy, such as befitting their esoteric nature. Historical precedent—alongside cultural stigma—has resulted in strict legal oversight and regulations on specimen acquisition, grants, and study parameters (much to the chagrin of researchers and Huntsmen alike).
Listed below are the most relevant branches of archotherology, and a description of each.
Subdisciplines
anthroarchotherology (Gr. anthro-, an alternative of anthropo-, man, + archo-, ruler, + -thero-, beast, + -logy, study of) — A derivation of ethnobiology that deals with the dynamic relationships between humans, Faunus, and Grimm. Specifically, researchers are interested in how people perceive Grimm, how they use Grimm, and how they react to Grimm. Perception is strongly tied to cultural influences or personal experience, while usage links to the benefits a person or a group can extract from a Grimm—be it the bony exoskeletal armor used by lapidaries, or the means of body disposal utilized by hitmen and assassins. Reaction is solely concerned with how people respond to Grimm threats, either on a large scale (like city defense) or a small scale (like unlocking one’s Aura and/or Semblance).
archotherian engineering — The integration of archotherology into modern construction, to predict, design, build, and restore infrastructure threatened by Grimm activity. Scientists in this discipline often collaborate with sentries and perimeter guards in order to learn what architectural practices are effective at repelling or warding off Grimm. Many novel solutions used in the modern day are the result of such endeavors, like hard-light thalassic walls or gravity suspension-grids.
geopsychometry (Gr. geo-, earth, + -psycho-, soul, + -metry, measurement of) — The study of psychometric imprints, or locational memories (such as Mountain Glenn). The mechanisms behind the phenomenon are poorly understood, as are the specific conditions necessary for a psychometric imprint to form. Geopsychometrists believe that negatively-valenced emotions (rage, panic, despair) are retained in areas where mass tragedies (usually largescale death) occurred, and continue to attract Grimm. The question remains why Grimm would gravitate toward these places, when there are no longer people left to hunt. Perhaps even more curiously, why would a physical location have the ability to retain the impressions of long-faded pain? These questions are difficult to answer, in no small part because psychometric imprints have a high Grimm density. As such, Huntsmen are often contracted as bodyguards, and paid to accompany scientists to these otherwise dangerous places.
pigoscience (Gr. pēgḗ, pigí, source or origin, + E. -science, a specific branch of learning) — The investigation into the Grimm’s origins, and the means by which Grimm either self-replicate or are derived. The earliest speculations were rooted in religion and superstition rather than empirical evidence, and as a result tended to reject or shun contrary viewpoints. Despite numerous scientific advancements made in the last few centuries, quite a few of these beliefs continue to circulate and persist into the present day. There are, broadly speaking, five categories into which these theories can be sorted, of which only three hold potential scientific merit: theological, occult, biospherical, synthetic, and cryptozoological.
teratogeography (Gr. terato-, monster, + E. -geography, study of the earth) — The study of the distribution of Grimm in geographic space over geological time. Unlike biological species, Grimm cannot directly leave behind preserved remains. However, paleorecords of Grimm do exist in the form of trace fossils, such as footprints, burrows, fire scars and fusain, fulgurites, and bite- or claw-marks on human and Faunus bones. Discoveries of this nature are invaluable to academics, as they help to eliminate the ambiguity of Grimm population dynamics and how they might have changed over time. By identifying patterns in their behavior, scientists can deduce which regions are susceptible to Grimm encroachment based on prior fluctuations.
teratophagology (Gr. terato-, monster, + -phago-, eating, + -logy, study of) — The study of proposed mechanisms for sustaining metabolism in Grimm. Perhaps the most contentious of the subdisciplines, and the hardest to run experiments on, for fairly obvious reasons. In academic circles, the general consensus is that Grimm subsist either on [1] the Aura of people, or [2] the act of killing. Understandably, people aren’t lining up outside of labs and volunteering to test which one is correct. Due to ethical concerns, nearly all studies that involve human trials are internationally banned. Of course, not all researchers are so easily deterred…

You knew he was king, you knew he had his duties, yet the time he takes on his duties plunges your emotions, here you were 8 month pregnant without him knowing. He promised to be back.
He promised.
You went into your shared bedroom and laid in your bed, looking up ate the ceiling which had a painted image of the sea. You eyes burned with tears. You took the frame from your nightstand which held the image of you both and held it tightly against your chest. Letting yourself go in a deep slumber.
I miss you James.

You sat on the porch and beneath was the sea, you were at peace for an usual reason. You rubbed your womb and watched the sun slowly set, you felt yourself get heavy in sleep- the moment you stood up. You felt someone push you hard into the sea.
Trying to swim up wasn’t working, you knew how to swim but you couldn’t go up. That is until you felt a tentacle wrapped itself around your leg and drag you down. You faced the creature which turned out to be a Male Cecealia .
James told you about them, the rogues of the Merfolk, they were evil and cunning people and hated anyone who got in their way. You started to thrash against the Cecealia but that did nothing. He continued to wrap his tentacles around your body. What did you do? You were minding your own damn business. You weren’t even in the sea. You gripped onto his tentacles and tried to pry them off yet they gripped onto you harder. You began to feel hopeless and weak, was this really it?. You closed your eyes hoping for someone to help.
Where was James?
You felt air leave your body, you looked at the Cecealia and screamed. Everything went black.

You woke up in a jolt. It was just a dream, just a dream. Your body was shaking in fear, you could still feel the grip of the Male Cecealia on your body. It felt cursed. You sat crying, until you felt a pair of strong arms embracing you. You opened your eyes and saw him. Your wrapped your arms around him and cried even more.
“I’m here sweetheart, don’t worry. I’m not going to leave you anymore.” It really is him. He pulled away a bit and looked at your face. He changed, his long hair now cut short and a growing beard but he was still your James. His blue ocean eyes comforted you. You finally felt as if your home now.
You both closed in for a long and sweet kiss. You wrapped your arms around his neck. The both of you stayed in each other’s embrace for the day.

Pictures of the pregnancy scans were all over the table, you and James sat on the couch filling in details of being away.
You played with his hair. “I really thought you left me James, don’t leave me out for so long.” James shifted in his seat.
“Well that won’t be a problem anymore, after the last Cecealia encounter I dropped my name as king and gave it to Steve yet the trident is on my name. But it means I can have my eternity with you my love.” He sat up and faced you with a warm smile.
Your eyes widened in relisation. “I had a nightmare about a Cecealia drowning me. What was that about?”
James sighed. “Usually when a Cecealia is taken down by someone, their last act is to hurt the persons loved one. I knew the Male Cecealia was going for you so I made it my reason to stop for king.”
He took your hands in his. “My love for you is unconditional and I will never regret leaving the throne for you. You made me feel alive y/n, my times with you is always amazing and full of love and happiness almost unbelievable. I’m so grateful to have you in my life so.”
He got off the couch and got on one knee. “Will you marry me my love?”
“Yes! Forever and always” tears of happiness left your eyes as you pulled him up and hugged him.
This was the most happiest day of your life.

It's too late now for anyone to lay in the curve of my naked back and let the swells that push forth from the tides of my gait lull them to easement. I have obscured every hollow, precious space that I would take pleasure in using to pleasure them. No one will ever look at my caught form and think 'ah, you would look better in no trappings at all', because I burned through those thoughts, and matches, and incense, and any joint that was handed to me, all at once, and I just didn’t understand that my own covetous eyes were not seeing me the way I wanted to be seen, did not understand that naked could simply mean as is and not the more complicated notion of as sexed, as felt by another, as wounded when seen, and that some days our trappings are the support that keeps us standing, but some days they are an ocean of foreign swells, and then they are a lure and a sink and will tie us to the hungry ocean floor to keep us well and truly trapped to a heart that mistakes drowning for some kind of safe, when all we ever wanted was to know what the thalassic light would look like as it cracked itself across our skin.

I just absolutely can't get my head around today. I've woken up to the news that Mike Thalassitis has commited suicide. I know none of you will know who he is, but at the end of the day, does that even matter? He was a reality TV star in the UK if you really want to know.
Mike was 26 years old, and he'd earnt himself an unfortunate nickname from his stint on Love Island that I won't even post because it seems disrespectful today.
I'm not going to pretend I was a massive fan. I watched him on TV and I disliked how he came across, but I'm fully aware that people make a name for themselves by getting a reaction from an audience, and he is one of the most memorable people from that series, although yes, maybe not for the best reasons.
But Mike always seemed like such a confident guy. The typical strong, broody type. I genuinely would never have thought he was struggling in any way. And that is what's stunned me today. You never know how someone is really feeling. No matter how confident/happy/content/strong someone may appear, that's just not always the case.
It's clear from the tributes pouring in that Mike kept a lot of this to himself. And that the way he was portrayed on TV was all just something he put on as an act.
He'd suffered a break up, lost a close friend and moved in to take care of his Nan, until she passed away just two days ago. All of that in the space of a year. Even just going through one of those things could send the strongest of us spiralling into despair.
The point is, don't take anything for granted. Don't just assume because people seem fine they are. How desperate must someone be, to think this world would be better without them, that they should no longer be here? There is always someone that cares. There is always someone to talk to. Even if you think you are alone, there are charities. Please don't suffer in silence.

A brief moral genealogy of reality TV spectatorship sketched through the short life of The Anna Nicole Show (2002-2004); Moloktow reflects on the hatred of the talentless and contempt for the desperate as a ultimate re-inscription of class dynamics; on the erotic appeal of the fallen beauty; on how the lines between compassion and cruelty come blurred, when those between life and entertainment seem to be disappearing.
‘Reality television remade spectatorship in the likeness of a relationship: You loved your favorite contestants like friends and hated your least favorite like enemies — the thrill of a reality villain was the permission to hate a “real” person and not just a character in fiction.’
‘What many of us are looking for, at least sometimes, is a quick hit of relatability, the ambient sense that other people exist. This isn’t necessarily bad. It cuts to the chase of what we so often ask of art, and people are just as interesting as anything they might produce — a personality itself can be read as a work of art, producing the same range of joys and intriguing discomforts. But real and imagined people demand different moral configurations, and observing a life as theater can create a narrative riptide on reality.’

‘Andrew Pekler charts imagined sounds on interactive atlas, Phantom Islands’, by Scott Wilson, Fact Mag
It was actually an ex-navy friend who recommended this article to me, and the nautical vibes seemed appropriate, given our current SPAM theme is CRUISE LINER. Wilson’s article glosses a recent project by Berlin-based sound artist Andrew Pekler: an ‘interactive online map called Phantom Islands, which combines the histories of islands that were once found on nautical maps with speculative sounds from each of the 27 locations’. These ‘Phantom Islands’, as Pekler puts it, were charted through history by ocean explorers, but their actual existence ‘has never been ultimately verified’.  
For anyone intrigued by ethnomusicology (soundscapes are here selected with an ethnographer’s ear and knowledge of island history), object-oriented ‘art’ (one could argue Pekler’s project enacts a form of tuning to nonhuman scales, scapes and ontologies) or simply wanting to play around with a synesthetically satisfying map, Phantom Islands is definitely worth your time.
There’s something seductive and ultimately metamodern about this project: its oscillation between fact and fiction; a New Aesthetic, intermedial playfulness and sincere commitment to probing the strange aporia of these places. A sort of sonic psychocartography, combining the analogue ‘hardware’ of the map with the interactive, ‘soft’ subtleties of scroll, click, veer and zoom. It recalls childhood afternoons consumed by the thalassic, open-world vistas of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2002), where every cel-shaded island was mapped out on a gridded ‘Great Sea’, sparkling with unique music, sidequests, enemies and secret items. Browsing The Wind Waker’s world, or (in Cruise Mode), the clean white grids of Pekler’s map, you find yourself phasing in and out of the mirage-like isles of geologic and mythical history. I’m made nostalgic for the days when the internet was envisioned as a sort of frontier, this sprawling terrain to be ‘surfed’.
As well as pleasure, there’s a profound melancholy to the project: it doesn’t steer us towards the dramatic sublime but rather encourages an introspective, ‘slow’ experience of personal discovery, a glide over several haecceities. Maybe it’s because, as Malachy Tallack puts it in his 2016 book The Undiscovered Islands, ‘Islands [...] are perfect metaphors for other worlds and afterlives. They are separate and yet connected; they are distant and yet tangible. The sea of death is cluttered with imaginary islands’. I’ve never thought of webpages or online archives as islands until now, but something about that sense of myth or fiction pervading the ‘real’ of the present is oddly comforting. The narrative vignettes and sound clips which accompany the islands of Pekler’s map give the reassurance of presence, even in the space of speculation, in the lack of evidential presence. If, as Tallack puts it, ‘invention’ arises from our desire to fill a ‘terrifying’ absence, then ‘sometimes that desire gives us back the absences we sought to fill’. It seems to me he could be describing a phenomenology of the open internet, the para-reality of endless text and images still sloshing and jostling against the smooth interface of Web 2.0. The haunted archives of yesteryear, preserved on some ad-riddled, lost domain. The splintered archipelagos of our virtual identities, the desiring production of feedback loops.
As a form of ‘interactive’ geography, Phantom Islands reminds us that our conceptions of ‘world’, Other or ipseity itself are bound to slippage, the ambient addictions of browsing a set of imagined striations. Best to enjoy that, while we (physically) still can.

‘Funks of Ambivalence: On Flarf’, by Andrew Epstein, LA Review of Books
Flarf’s controversy is no secret within the poetry world. What started as protest poetry, in the manner of pirate radio - a way of ‘hacking’ the internet by mining and reassembling its linguistic fragments - soon sank in a cesspool of suspicion about plagiarism, appropriation and writerly privilege. Well, not exactly ‘sank’, because sank implies a kind of closure, when actually flarf still floats around - the poetic plastic that won’t quite biodegrade, even in these times of lyric revival.
Having recently published, Attention Equals Life: The Pursuit of the Everyday in Contemporary Poetry and Culture (2016), Epstein is well-versed in tracing how poetic form variously attempts to render, illumine or escape the experiential debris of daily life. Here reviewing a recent anthology, published by Edge Books in 2017 (Flarf: An Anthology of Flarf), Epstein maps out the emergence of flarf in the context of both the poetry establishment and the internet’s structural history, honing in on the use of search engines and data trawling as modes of playful aesthetic resistance. He quotes Gary Sullivan (a founding flarfer), who describes ‘flarf’ as both a neologism for ‘a kind of corrosive, cute, or cloying, awfulness’ and verb, meaning ‘to bring out the inherent awfulness, etc., of some pre-existing text’.
A good review perhaps brings something extra to the text it feeds on, and Epstein succeeds in supplementing Flarf: An Anthology of Flarf’s lack in the critical department. As Epstein puts it, the anthology is ‘completely devoid of scholarly apparatus’. What might be ‘more a bid for canonization, an enshrinement of a now-defunct avant-garde’ nevertheless requires a bit of aesthetic and political contextualisation, which Epstein’s piece usefully gestures towards. As post-internet poets, self-identified or otherwise, we’re all guilty of getting a little too flarfy at times, fooling around with discursive detritus online. It’s commentary like Epstein’s that sets all this appropriation in its necessary social contexts - from gender to race, ethnicity, class and sexuality.
Epstein’s upshot is that the ‘antics’ of flarf retain the potential for cultural resistance, but that flarf should not be considered solely in a dematerialised junkspace of recycled ‘play’. Rather, we should be reading flarf alongside certain contemporary poets (Epstein names a few), who digest its playful ‘tactics’ for a more substantial sociopolitical aesthetics, and what’s more acknowledge the extent to which flarf has become the condition of all information dissemination, both online and IRL. As he puts it, paraphrasing Man Ray’s chiastic assessment of Dada’s survival: ‘Flarf cannot live in America. All America is Flarf, and will not tolerate a rival’. In an era of reality-breakdown and disorientating news dissemination, conducted over the famously elliptical medium of Twitter, presided upon by the US President himself, this seems about right.

So why is post-internet poetry #trending?
Over the past few years, the art world has been throwing around the term “post-Internet” to describe the practices of artists who use the Web as the basis for their work but don’t make a big deal about it. For these artists, unlike those of previous generations, the Web is just another medium, like painting or sculpture. We’re beginning to see a similar turn in poetry.
Is it fair to say that successful post-internet poems should not merely “update confessional poetry for the age of mass surveillance"? That Poems that want to mirror or deconstruct the experience of living on the internet need a poetics that address that experience on a structural and material rather than semantic level? What is the result of such poetry? Poems that are "boring to be around"? Or poems that are at once organic and mechanical, personal and, in a sense, objective? Why is it that a mining, massaging, and reworking of found online texts into something personal appears to be fuelling some of the more adventurous poetry being written today? believe it or not, you can blame @crimsonbubble for this story idea. i don't even know how to start describing this one, it wasn't supposed to be a part of my book series, it attached itself naturally, as they all do ;u; no freedom, no rest.
ok, uh, an obvious hint as to the fandom on crimsonbubble's blog that started all oft his: guns do exist in Thalassic Space, they're just magic or have exorcising qualities to them.
i don't talk about Thalassic Punk on my fan fic accounts because i realized that any attempt to explain leads to spoilers. i've been working on this project for a year, am on draft number two, aaand am supposed to be halfway done that. however. i am horrible at remaining interested in a story for longer than a week. it does happen, i just happen to be riding the world's (potentially) most "where the hell did that come from?! i like it" dark rides the world of fiction has (not yet) seen ('cause it's a massive construction zone).
i... should probably start a blog just for Thalassic Punk. Maybe not today, i don't feel like it. oops again? eh. anyway, uhhh, thanks crimsonbubble, you saved me from writer's block, even though i didn't have it yesterday salfdkjsldfj

What would have made you like it?
See I DO like it... it's these guys that have the issue pft.. I think what I would like is an older Nikolai and Dolokhov, now that I can get down and dirty with. Nikolai just drained of any youth, an angry dried raisin of a man stuck in the past, Dolokhov takes one look and goes That One. I don't super consider this idea though because I doubt Dolokhov is still kicking for the epilogue, he certainly isn't in my version.
Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
They would be so cool together, just the aesthetic would look good. Two short kings built like bricks? please and thankyou we need more of those pairings. I wanna see em fight each other with there bare hands in the mud. What they have going on is incomprehensible to me to describe it's like the embodiment of if saving private ryan (have not seen it) was a romance.

I am a SUCKER for height differences and man are they're heights different! Boris also sorta has this vague princely charm from Natasha's view and thats cute.
Okay thinking about them a bit more and man, I don't ship them but they REALLY are cute. Young Natasha totally having a crush on him and everyone teases her about it, he's definitely aware and is like 'hm. No' but doesn't wanna hurt her twelve year old feelings. Laurent hears the beat of her preternatural heart well before he sees her.  Age sharpens the gift, ears attuned to the workings of the heart and its chambers, the thalassic swell of blood pushed through the channels of the body. 
Age sharpens the gift. Paranoia amplifies it.
He lifts his head from the white block of light in his hand, eyes curiously colorless, and similarly drained of expression. He deposits the phone into his pocket with a single, decisive depression of its fine mechanical workings, his hands curling tighter against the cool metal links of the swing.
No sound from him, nothing but the impossible pump of his own heart, the ferrous creak of the chains above him, suspending him in air. He regards the stranger coolly, heel digging into the gritty sand beneath him, pushing himself back, a controlled, slow sway. It is a gesture of perfect idleness, and yet all the less convincing for his tepid greeting.
He bares his teeth in something like a smile.
“Well, darling,” he greets, dripping malicious charm, “I’m afraid the cricket tournament was this past Saturday. You’ve quite missed it.”

Eye is an improvising ensemble from Dunedin, New Zealand. The group comprises original members Peter Stapleton (of the Vacuum, Victor Dimisich Band, Pin Group, Terminals, Scorched Earth Policy, Dadamah, Rain, Flies Inside The Sun) on percussion, radio, and electronics; Peter Porteous (Lapdog, Empirical) on guitar and singing bowls; and relatively recent recruit Jon Chapman (Double Leopards, Rory Storm and the Invaders) on electronics. They that first convened in 2003 and have kept a low profile, playing very occasionally on New Zealand’s south island and releasing a trickle of records on various mico-labels before teaming up with Ba Da Bing! This association seems to have kicked things into high gear; since 2015 they’ve issued an LP and a cassette that scratch the same ineradicable itch as recent Dead C. All three members of Eye contributed to this list, which they characterize as “a random list of music/film/books/epiphanies.”

(PP) – Living in London in the early ‘90s, I was walking along a street when I heard the most incredible music up ahead (some version of Bailter Space, I thought to myself?). I quickened my pace, got to the corner and turned it to be confronted with a group of workmen digging up the road. Filmed in the ravaged eastern bloc with a sense of austere beauty, the captivating idea that there is a room in the Zone where wishes can come true; the scientist and the writer whose dreams illustrate different takes on humanity. Aching long-take slowness, the grace he finds in light: the magnetising shot in The Mirror, where an absent teacup’s steam ring swiftly dissipates from a polished tabletop.

(PP) – Gravity’s Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon, the huge wonderful meta-novel set immediately post-WWII in lawless Europe, following endless tribes crisscrossing the landscape on their way home. Convoluted plots, a cast of thousands, science, philosophy, poetry, suppressed histories, slapstick comedy, darkness and depravity as a response to war. Vectors of desire.

(JC) — On Wings of Song by Thomas Disch. Via singing plus electronics, citizens discorporate and fly free through a 21st century where Christian Right Middle America is radically separated from the decadent Coastal Elites. Art and repression, and a metaphor for LGBT liberation.

(PS) – Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy - from beginning to end the bodies just pile up until you can almost smell them rotting in the hot sun, but even the bleakness is kind of poetic.
