I wanna quickly point out something about Kotoko and Jacques Roulet.
Tumblr media
(You can read 1moremilgram-enjoyer’s post for info about Jacques Roulette here)
Something important to understand is that the case of Jacques Roulet actually happened during the Werewolf trials in the 15th-17th century.
If you don’t know what werewolf trials were, they’re linked to witch trials where mainly women were convicted and killed for practicing witchcraft. The werewolf trials however, were mostly men being convicted and killed for being werewolves that ate children. Jacques Roulet’s case specifically happened during the werewolf witch trials, which was a combination of the two.
The reason I bring this up is because this paints another parallel between Kotoko and Fuuta because of his connection to the Salem witch trials. Since his victim (kilcheroy) seems to take on the appearance of a witch, he quite literally sent a witch hunt after her and burned her at the stake. (Fuuta’s fire symbolism)
Tumblr media
Witch’s were accused of witchcraft and devil worship but most of them were actually innocent, like how Fuuta’s victim was accused of wrong doing but in actuality didn’t do any thing wrong.
In contrast, Jacques Roulet actually did kill and hurt children, similar to Kotoko’s victim.
Kotoko’s victim was also male, which further adds to the link to werewolf trials of mostly men. Fuuta’s victim was female, and the witch trials were mostly women.
Their pursuits for Justice were witch/werewolf hunts.
And like people have pointed out, they became what they sought to destroy. Fuuta became the witch burned at the stake. Kotoko became the beast that mauled people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(You could also argue that it kinda ties to both their relationship to gender and masculinity. But I’m not the most well versed in that topic)

Like you, I enjoy FGO for both it's story and for sexy anime girls, but tbh I feel like the last really hot non-summer servants we've gotten were Zenobia and Jacques de Molay over two years ago, and that's kind of disappointing to me. Agree or disagree?
Going off recent na servants, I actually really dig Dobrynya's design so I think I have to disagree kinda? In wide scheme of things with fgo's lifespan though the majority of the sexiest characters HAVE come out already. That's just the nature of the beast with long service games. But also, I'm so hyperfocused on Kukulkan and Andromeda that I don't mind disappointing releases here and there because that means I get to save a bunch of sq for those two.

RWBY Saints of Remnant Notes: Adam Taurus, Surrogate Brother, Liberator, and former slave worker
Tumblr media
WARNING: This post contains is a radically reimagined Adam Taurus in a positive light in a heavily reimagined RWBY AU and has cliche and a ship that may turn you off due to Canon, if Canon Adam has given you a permanent bad taste in your mouth, I understand, this is an AU, just please do not come in with bad faith and ignore me instead.
Said AU is connected to The Emperor-Verse
Now following my altered Jack Schnee is Adam Taurus
Now given the whole grievances the RWDE tag as made about him, and looking back on him myself, I'd had figured there were two options for him, at least in my opinion
Either make him anti-villain or initial antagonist turned ally, which I have chosen for the latter. Either way, I threw out him being Blake's ex because I honestly thought it was kinda dumb and melodramatic.
Though FRWBY as I heard has done a good job tweaking that to make it work as well as Adam as a villain.
But I chose to go for something else, Adam being something of a surrogate older brother for Blake instead.
For this specific backstory, Adam is from Mistral, from a small village led by his father, a respectable Huntsman.
Now I'm trying to figure it out but with my Altered SDC and Jacques post, Arthur Gray(Watts) megacorporation GigaWatts Incorporated has outsorced work, and much like the SDC in Canon!RWBY Adam's family worked at one of their factories in the East under poor working conditions which claimed the life of his parents.
Adam much like his Canon counterpart, also worked pretty much as a slave, and his eye injury I chasing between either branding or a factory accident.
Now this draws on Fritz Lang's Metropolis which I feel like doesn't get enough love, and I will use this clip along with Metropolis when I get to post about the not-so-good doctor, his mega-corporation, and the current state of Atlas later.
youtube
But basically, Adam was emotionally drained at that point. A zombie of a young man who felt hopeless.
One day in his younger days The White Fang's Eastern Branch attacks the factories. And the one leading the charge was the current White Fang leader, a spider Faunus by the name of Rina Kumokage(first name a placeholder) and her second-in-command Sienna Kahn. Seeing them in action reinvigorated and inspired him and joined them instantly when the two offered a hand.
However, this wouldn't be the liberation that he thought it was, at least not entirely.
Rina's leadership was questionable over in the East while the other branches of the other three corners were busy, Rina seemed to be driven more by politics than the morals of common decency, and had abusive tendencies towards Adam and later on Blake whom she also took under her personal tutelage due to knowing her late father Kuroto(aka Ghira) who was a high ranking member of the White Fang.
But it wasn't all bad, for while Kumokage was a cruel teacher, Kahn on the other hand was the closest thing he had for a mother after losing his parents, and she herself was often downplayed by the current WF leader.
Soon Adam began to realize Rina saw the White Fang as a means for political power, a demagogue exploiting a legitimate cause for mercenary motives. But he wished for no outside help, for reasons I am trying to figure out, but partially the same reasons for Blake of being introverted, not to hurt those close to him.
Now for his allusion, there's always been the argument he was the beast and Blake was the Beauty
But after remembering an analysis post I can't remember where on Tumblr I figured
What if Blake and Adam were both the Beast? like a collective allusion? Which is based on my RWBY collective allusions theory but that's another post for another day.
Adam's individual allusion however is not the Bull Demon King, but Red Boy, with his late parents being The Bull Demon King(his Father) and Princess Iron Fan(his mother), both of their lessons sticking to him. So unlike his canon counterpart while his sanity may had been bent, it wasn't broken.
Now Sun in this AU is the 'Beauty' to Blake's 'Beast' and as for Adam, the ‘Beauty’ to his ‘Beast’ is and hear me out here...
Yang Xiao Long
Tumblr media
now I know what you all are thinking...
Tumblr media
But here's the idea
Adam as a good guy I would imagine being this grumpy kinda no-nonsense dude and something of a ham(he writes poems in his downtime) and I feel like that would compliment Yang's 'flirty party girl' personality and would play off Black Sun too
Two ships that are similar, yet different, and I just don't mean in a gender bent way.
But not only that, Yang’s role is also to mend the strained brother-sister relationship of Blake and Adam. Adam isn’t obsessed with Blake but was kinda like “Blake, what the hell?” When she left. He’s kinda pissed, but not a flat-out murderous lunatic.
And Yang being an older sibling herself can relate to Adam and talk it out with him, notably all the good things Blake has told Yang about him.
And then of course Yang does try to resort to some spicy flirting, but Adam being taught about earning the blessings of the parents and abstinence, doesn’t reciprocate the same way.
Spoiler alert, Adam is flustered by Yang’s midriff but also know it’s not good for practical purposes in her line of work. Yang notices and tries to tease him further, only for him to tickle her mercilessly to make his point, leading her to make a wardrobe upgrade for “V2”
And I’d be lying if my this was not somewhat influenced by my Catholic faith about modesty and no sex outside of marriage, but I’d think it be kinda cute and funny to ship Yang who’s flirtatious and likes to flaunt it with a very honorable and kinda traditional dude. Expect lots of disappointed pouts from Yang.
Now his altered personality I was inspired by 2 sources
Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Tumblr media
But also Grimlock in Transformers: Fall of Cyberton which the game is also an influence for my reimagined Arthur Watts
Tumblr media
For those not in the know-how, Fall of Cybertron due to it success had become the reboot basis for all G1-esque Transformers stories onward.
In it, Grimlock is the commander of the team and had been captured by Shockwave, who is a scientist, to be painfully experimented on which would turn them into Dinobots. Grimlock, driven by furious vengeance free's his comrades and seeks to destroy Shockwave.
Now Grimlock is still a good guy and believes defending the weak and migh-for-right, but he's bad tempered, stubborn, and headstrong really doesn't see eye-to-eye with Optimus Prime, seeing him as a weak leader and barely accepting him as leader due to the Matrix.
So it's kind of the same principle with Adam, with Watts being the 'Shockwave' to his 'Grimlock', though to be specific, Adam has a vendetta against the one running the factory he and his family worked at. Will get to him in the future.
So yeah, that's my Adam so far.

RWBY/X-Men crossover thoughts
So, I've been thinking recently about a "What if Magneto was Pyrrha's dad?" fic, what with the magnetism. And then I started wondering about just bringing all the X-characters into RWBY. (possibly in the wake of whatever shitshow the end of the Krakoa Era turns into.)
Now, on the one hand, it'd make sense to have all the Mutants be faunus, but I don't wanna go that route. So instead, various mutants have been appearing for all of Remnant's history. Some of them remember their past in the 616 universe, most don't, only having vague feelings of deja vu sometimes when meeting another mutant. Not that they're technically "mutants" here, as the X-Gene is replaced by semblances. So on the one hand, mutants are no longer hated and feared. On the other hand, they're living on a death world with an immortal being who controls an army of monsters. (It's honestly kinda nostalgic for the Arakki mutants).
So far, the only concrete idea I have for any of the mutants is Magneto being Pyrrha's dad, and Wanda, Pietro, and Lorna being her siblings (Fuck you marvel, Wanda and Pietro are his kids and they're mutants) I'm thinking that Charles actually was part of Oz's inner circle several lifetimes ago, and they tried using his telepathy (along with some kind of power amplifier) to tell a whole kingdom (or a chunk of one) about Salem. It went...poorly, and was a contributing factor in Oz's secrecy in the present day.
Other ideas:
Sebastian Shaw is one of Jacques Schnee's chief business rivals. Doesn't remember his previous life, other than the odd bit of deja vu, and having an instinctive knowledge of how his semblance worked as soon as it activated. Worked in either a dust mine, or a dust refinery, and his semblance activated during a workplace accident. Ghira Belladonna's chief competition in the "Remnant's Most Glorious Chest Hair" contest.
En Sabah Nur would be a relic of the early humans, before the gods wiped them out. He still sleeps beneath the sands of Vacuo (possibly along with his kids and wife). Could do something with the Crown from the two Team CFVY novels wanting to awaken him, rather than just restoring the Vacuan Monarchy.
Just realized that the Aura Transfer tech Ironwood was developing could've been developed by someone who studied Apocalypse's mind transfer stuff. Even though if this is krakoa era Apoc, he no longer needs to do that.
the O5 x-men would be contemporaries of team STRQ, along with the team from Giant Size #1. That's Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Bobby, Warren, Nightcrawler, Storm, Wolverine, Banshee, Colossus, Thunderbird, and Sunfire, which does make for 3 teams of 4, if we're assuming that all of them were students of the huntsman academies. Maybe they were all from the other 3 academies, with STRQ at Beacon? Though Rogue, Havok and Polaris throw those numbers off. Though Rachel and Betsy bring it up to 16, so i guess it still works out.
I personally would have Hank as part of Ironwood's inner circle after the fall of beacon, with both of them exacerbating each others negative tendencies. I like Hank's villain turn, and feel like it's a natural progression of his character since at least the 90s (Justice for Threnody, motherfucker)
I'd put the New Mutants as a bit older than team RWBY, probably around the same age range as Winter, Cinder and the Ace Ops.
That's Cannonball, Mirage, Karma, Cypher, Magik, Wolfsbane, Magma, Sunspot, and Warlock. Not counting Warlock (who I have no idea how to work him in) that makes 8. Kitty would probably fall into this group too
This leaves Generation X and Academy X as contemporaries of team RWBY.
this is the group I know the least about. But that would be Chamber, Jubilee, Monet, Skin, Synch, Bling!, Eye Boy, and Quentin Quire for Generation X. Maybe have them be upperclassmen to RWBY's freshmen
then Academy X is Elixir, Icarus, Prodigy, Surge, Wallflower, Wind Dancer, Dust, Hellion, Mercury, Rockslide, Laura Kinney and Wither. Anyone else from the X-Men training squads would fall in this age group too.
Deadly Genesis was obviously not a thing in this universe, and the only one of those X-Men I care about is Darwin.
Selene is...around. Honestly I think it'd be hilarious if she just hung out in the Land of Darkness, eating grimm and really annoying Salem, after they figured out that Selene couldn't kill her. She still busts down Salem's door to drain some of her life force occasionally, but honestly it's the closest thing to friendship either of them has.
Mystique predates the Great War, and does Huntress work occasionally, but these days she mostly stays home with Irene (At least that's the official story). No one knows if she's human or faunus. Her relationship with her biological son Kurt (we're going with Claremont's original plan here, Mystique was the 'father' and Irene was the mother) and her adopted daughter Anna Marie is...strained.
Fuck it, replace Glynda with Emma Frost, it's not like Glynda is that important in the grand scheme of things. (y'all know I'm right)
Characters I'm not sure what to do with:
Forge (combine him with pietro pollendina/have them be colleagues?)
the Stepford Cuckoos
Cable
Bishop
Sage
Toad
Dazzler
Boom-Boom
Stryfe
honestly, it might streamline things to have all the time traveler characters come from the same dystopian future

How I'd Write "Outcast of Redwall" - The Name, The Prologue and Book One
So as a Redwall fan, I've seen my fair share of complaints about Outcast of Redwall and why it's the black sheep of the franchise, and while I haven't read the book itself, from what I've heard in podcasts and read on Redwall blogs, I can agree that it's got issues. It's a shame because I believe there was potential in it, and Taggerung was a much better representation of the idea Brian Jacques was trying to tell. I know people have their own ideas of how this book could've been better (and I'm a good 20 years late to the conversation), but I couldn't help but think of my own version since I've been getting back into the series (I've been writing a fanfiction as well that I should probably post here lol). This is going to be long so I'll split this up into separate posts:
THE NAME
For starters, I agree with the common criticism that "Outcast of Redwall" kinda fails as a name when the Outcast in question isn't even born until the 2nd act, if I'm remembering correctly. For the plot I came up with, I figured "The Hunted Ones" would be appropriate, referring to the main characters, Sunflash and Bluefen (yes, she's got a much bigger role this time around), as well as those close to them, and how they're under the constant threat of Swartt and his influence.
THE PROLOGUE
The prologue is a telling of Sunstripe's capture. This is based on the assumption that Sunstripe was about Mattimeo's age (so early pre-teen, if the animated series is anything to go by), when he ran off to fight Verdauga. The prologue starts many days after Sunstripe is defeated by Verdauga. Sunstripe has since wandered far into the northeastern section of Mossflower Country, injured and too ashamed to return to his mother and Brockhall. Wishing to have simply died by Verdauga's paws, Sunstripe leans near a tree and decides to waste away, believing it to be what he deserves for failing to avenge his father. He falls unconscious just as vermin emerge from the woods. These vermin are followers of Wurgg Snarefang (formerly Wurgg the Spinecracker in canon; he is a ferret and Bowfleg's father in this reimagining, the surname comes from Bowfleg's canon insignia), whose camp is settled in the area. Binding Sunstripe, Wurgg's beasts bring their prize to the ferret, who claims Sunstripe as a pet. The prologue ends here.
BOOK ONE - THE ALLIANCE
Book One would mainly follow the growing companionship of Sunstripe and Bluefen, as well and their eventual escape to Redwall.
It begins seasons after the prologue. Sunstripe is now an adult (late-20s, early 30s-ish, in human years). He's lived in captivity for seasons, being beaten and mocked by the horde constantly. A late middle-aged Bowfleg Snarefang now rules in his late father's place, and has gifted the family "pet" to his daughter, Bluefen (who would be close to 18 or 19 in human years). Bowfleg is not a very good father and lives off his father's infamy, growing fat and lazy as a result. He's abusive to his daughter, ordering around like a housewife and ignoring her complaints when he tells her to seek out a good, strong and loyal ferret in the horde to serve as his son-in-law and carry on the Snarefang bloodline. Frustrated and feeling like a prisoner in her own right, Bluefen regularly takes out her anger on Sunstripe, calling him "Scumtripe" as an insult.
Sunstripe, meanwhile, regularly has dreams of Mossflower, his parents, Boar the Fighter, and the mountain of Salamadastron. He regularly feels the pull to escape, to see his mother again and to visit the mountain, but is unable to shake off his guilt. He is also housed in a deep pit lined with smooth stone, making climbing out impossible without outside assistance.
At the same time, an outsider named Swartt Sixclaw arrives from farther north with his small band, "eager" to join Bowfleg's ranks. Bluefen doesn't trust Swartt for a second, but Nightshade, Swartt's Seer, is able to sway Bowfleg's mind with "omens" promising a great future should Bowfleg accept Swartt. Bowfleg, blinded by these false promises, offers his daughter to Swartt as a token of their alliance, much to Bluefen's dismay. Swartt agrees, purely to keep on Bowfleg's good side.
A feast is arranged; Sunstripe is taken out of his prison an made to do tricks. Swartt is allowed to torture him (which he enjoys a bit too much). Bluefen can't bring herself to enjoy any of it and takes off, contemplating if she should simply flee to begin life elsewhere. After the feast, she goes to Sunstripe's prison to try and cheer herself up with her usual bullying, but breaks down due to the anger at her father and the fear of her new husband. Seeing this and being reminded of his mother's pain after Barkstripe's death, Sunstripe shows compassion to his would-be tormentor and consoles her. Bluefen is uncertain of why a beast she mistreated would be kind to her, but does admit that she's being married off to Swartt. Sunstripe can tell it upsets her greatly. They strike up a conversation and the seeds of a bond are planted. While this happens, Swartt takes advantage of a drunken Bowfleg and poisons him with wine, becoming the sole ruler of the Snarefang horde.
The following seasons are rough for Bluefen as she suffers her new husband's cruelty, and his treatment of Sunstripe leaves a bitter taste in her mouth. Swartt has claimed Sunstripe as his steed and regularly brings him out of his pit to ride him around camp. Swartt also schemes to move further south, having heard on the wind that the Thousand Eye Army is long gone and Mossflower sits free for its next ruler. The march begins, and a pregnant Bluefen desires more and more to escape and live elsewhere. Her conversations with Sunstripe continue, and they bond further over how miserable they are. Sunstripe soon decides that, even if his guilt still lingers, he has to help Bluefen, whom he pities despite her past mistreatment of him. Desperate, Bluefen agrees, and they plan their escape.
As Bluefen assists Sunstripe in escaping his prison, she's spotted by Swartt's followers, and they both flee for their lives into the woods. Swartt, taking the lead, attempts to kill Sunstripe, but with some quick thinking, Sunstripe crushes Swartt's arm with a makeshift club. The pair disappear into the woods, and their journey begins. Things are rough, given the winter climate, and both have little experience surviving in the woods, Bluefen especially. They bicker a few times, but Bluefen dares not leave Sunstripe's side, knowing his usefulness in a fight. Things take a turn when Bluefen goes into labor, and Sunflash takes her to a cave which is inhabited by the Lingl-Dubbo families. Kind beasts, the families agree to look after Bluefen and provide both travelers with good food. A healthy baby ferret is born that night. Bluefen names him Veil, due to his mask marking reminding her of the veil she wears. She plans to never tell him of his father or of the Snarefang Horde.
Skarlath, a friend of the families and fancier of cheeses, visits the cave and befriends Sunstripe and Bluefen. He's asked to guide the pair further south to Redwall Abbey, so that Bluefen could provide Veil with a proper shelter and food. While recovering, Bluefen is also taught a bit of how to use a sling, so that she can defend herself and her baby. Veil is a fussy infant, constantly demanding food and attention and it reminds Bluefen of her father and Swartt. Part of her considers dumping the baby entirely, but she decides against it, not wishing to be as cruel and sadistic as the ferret she'd left. The journey continues with the three friends narrowly avoiding Swartt and using guerilla tactics to slow the horde down and lower Swartt's numbers.
As Redwall draws near, Sunstripe sends Bluefen and Skarlath to the abbey while he creates a diversion to keep Swartt away from the innocent beasts there. Secretly, Sunstripe fears meeting his mother, who now resides at Redwall, and he still wants to visit Salamandastron, which is further west. He promises Bluefen that they'll see each other again and Skarlath decides to act as a messenger between them once Bluefen is settled.
Sunstripe leaves and Skarlath informs the Redwallers of Bluefen and her baby. Some are wary, especially when hearing that a horde is approaching the Abbey. Martin the Warrior (and most of the other characters from Mossflower and Legend of Luke) has recently passed, and the only defenders are descendants of the Mossflower Holt and Lady Amber's squirrels. Abbess Bryony is willing to house Bluefen and Veil, but won't hesitate to give them both to Swartt if it means protecting the Abbey. An old Bella of Brockhall argues in defense of Bluefen and Veil due to the ferrets' association with her son, and commands the Abbey defenders to keep an eye on the woods, as well as sending the Skipper and a party of helpers after Sunstripe to keep him safe.
The combination of his rage against Sunstripe and the beasts guarding Redwall force Swartt to focus solely on the badger, leaving Bluefen and Veil safe. The book ends with Swartt and his forces beginning their march west, Skipperjo and his group catching up with Sunstripe and traveling with him, and Bluefen settling into Redwall with Veil.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I feel like, in a book format, this Book One would be pretty long, but it does have to set things up before Redwall gets involved. I wanted Veil to actually be alive in Book One, even if he isn't the main focus, and I also wanted to try and fix up the timeline issues the original book had. It might not be perfect, but I think I did pretty well. I'll write Books 2 and 3 at a later time.

(Please don’t make fun of his mane, it’s still a lil scruffy looking but he’s not fully grown yet ok, it will be full and majestic soon ^ ^;)
J.J. likes to lounge around Yuuri’s home, announcing that the “females” in his self-proclaimed “pride” will bring him food (they don’t, and Yuuri needs to gently convince him to haul ass and hunt for himself too). That being said, he’s also an incredibly reliable guardian and won’t let any harm come to Yuuri while the others are away ^ ^

Volume 8 Episode 2 “Refuge” thoughts
...
Yeah I got nothing this kinda wasn’t good. I watched it twice within the first hour, once alone and once with friends, and I’ve still forgotten most of the episode when it’s been less than twelve hours since then. You know that problem some folks have with RWBY where nothing between the first and last three episodes of the season matter, and those are the ones filled with plot development? This kinda felt like that where only the last two minutes were what I’d consider “relevant.” There’s worse episodes, but few are as... boring.
This was far from Robyn’s worst scene, but I feel like CRWBY knew what they were doing with that fakeout of making it look like Robyn was blaming Qrow. I feel like the dyanmic between Robyn, Qrow, Watts and Jacques would be interesting but it’s undercut by Watts and Qrow basically sitting out the scene barring four lines between the two of them (Granted for Watts, they’re good lines!). Robyn’s not as bad as she was in Volume 7 and is show regret for her part in how things went sour, but I’m not forgiving based off one good scene, especially with the show brushing her involvement in Clover’s death under the bed if Qrow’s anything to go by.
Qrow declaring that he’s gonna kill Ironwood is... stupid! If Qrow wants to make a list of “People that got me in jail” well Qrow... you’re top of the list after Tyrian. You’re the one who worked with the serial killer that tried to kidnap your niece and tried to kill to kill you twice last night. You fucking melon. I think it’s safe to call an IronQrow grudge match for the end of the season that will (if James is dying) be his swan-song fight. I’m going to assume it’s well animated unless they backloaded all their fights again. If I feel particularly optimistic going into it, I may even hope it’s well written.
Team ORJY are... existing. Yang was Yangry and I tuned her out, though I did catch her being a white savior so I guess we’re not allowed to bring up That Time Yang Watched A Faunus Be Racially Harrased from Volume 1 anymore. Ren’s still his Volume 7 self in that he’s a surly asshole (Ironically I feel the entire team should be acting like Ren but because everyone else isn’t, he just comes off as a moody loser), still betting that any scene explaining Ren’s behavior will be cut or pushed back. Jaune’s still not allowed a clean ‘cool’ moment without being played for comedy, and Oscar... had a character beat.
In that it’s just him going “I really don’t like the merge with Ozpin” for the fifth time, and Ozpin going “Yeah it sucks, I’m sorry.” Oscar trying to sell that he felt like part of the team when the majority of his interactions with RWBYJNPR have been shallow or involve them abusing him rings hollow though. The only substantial conversations he’s had with anyone in that group were with Ruby, and maybe Jaune.
Oh, and he talked to Blake that one time in the Brunswick episodes which is... more than Ruby can say.
I’m not sure how to feel about the focus the Happy Huntresses got this episode. Not that was it was bad content. It wasn’t. But you know how RWBY has that problem with character bloat and allocation of screentime to the wrong plots and characters, leaving some feeling cruciall underdeveloped? Yeah? Just saying.
The Nora and Weiss scene was the funniest joke involving Nora since Volume 5. The Penny/Ruby scene feels like a forced callback to Volume 2 and I think Ruby’s a colossal idiot for the whole “Ironwood was lying to you” thing (Ruby he wasn’t even talking to Penny there he was pretty firmly speaking to you there, and if you think he’s lying about the fact that Salem will kill people, I encourage you to try and go for a diplomacy ending in that Stellaris game you’re running in your potato brain).
The Beast is thankfully kinda cool. It’s amazing what actually letting the Grimm be effective does for my opinion of them. This is the most interesting any singular part of the series has been for theory-crafting since like... Volume 4? It’s interesting to speculate on if the Beast is simply Salem’s magnum opus in terms of Grimm augmentation, if it’s an old Grimm that’s so old it’s gained sentience, or if it’s a potentially human/Grimm hybrid. I called Oscar would get kidnapped this episode but like this was still the best scene. I like that you can see the Beast stalking them throughout the episode. And good job to Jason Liebretch for getting his voice that low.
I even got to see Ren hit a wall with his face again. Glad we’re getting that seasonal traditional out of the way fast.
I won’t call this episode bad. I’ll just call it exceptionally forgettable. Like even a friend of mine who lives and breathes RWBY admitted that she was having trouble remembering the episode. The Beast was cool, I hope it remains cool, but otherwise... I feel safe to say this episode can be skipped barring the Beast reveal unless you really like the Happy Huntresses.

RWBY Volume 7 Chapter 10 Rundown
Another great and satisfying episode, yet it leaves us with a better cliffhanger than even the one going into this last winter hiatus. I have to commend them for that, even if I hate how badly I couldn’t wait for the next episode. But while so many of the scenes were really good, it almost feels too good to be true. The heat going off and Watts being as in control as he was could be the worst things get this volume, but I can’t help but anticipate the moment it goes from bad to worse. Spoilers for next week, that moment is coming soon.
Fortunately for my recurring annoyance at their bad habit of doing this, the episode does not start in the aftermath of this Grimm attack like they had for the one following Penny being framed and the riots after Jacques laid everybody off. Instead we open to Mantle still in turmoil and distress. Grimm are running and flying everywhere, Atlesian soldiers are killing a few but still taking casualties, and people are running for their lives in mass, one group barely avoiding getting trampled by a stampede of Mega Goliaths, or Megoliaths for short. We briefly see the Happy Huntresses doing a good job of defending civilians before a Sabyr runs by them. Another Sabyr tries to attack a Faunus mother and son before getting literally cat-called by Nora who jumps from the top of a building to bash it to dust. Marrow and Weiss are with her, and get back to work as they see another wave of the vicious cats running in. Speaking of cats, Blake is being chased by a Megoliath and 3 Ursai, and only dodges the smaller beasts by using Dust based clones to take them down or put them in the path of getting trampled by the larger pachyderm. The Megoliath can’t handle corners as well as she can and crashes into the front of a building in trying to keep following her. The beast is closing in, but she dodges to the right and it instead runs right into a rooted Elm who stops it dead in its tracks and even lifts it into the air by its tusks. Yang rushes in and plants her sticky bombs on the thing’s belly before Elm throws it a few dozen feet into the air where Yang blows it up. The three are winded but still urge civilians to get to the nearest shelter, knowing full well that even if those shelters are going to fill up fast there’s not much safe alternative right now. Qrow and Clover are taking Teryx out from the rooftops before getting unheard new orders and leaping away. Back to the first group of heroes, Weiss shows off a little and impales a Sabyr that had leaped over Marrow’s head on her Knight’s sword. She then looks at him from behind the blade and laughs that he had gotten scared by that and is holding his tail for safety. Ruby had done the same peeking around the edge of something to laugh 4 episodes ago. Guess some of her partner’s habits are rubbing off on the Ice Queen~ The civilians they’re protecting are backed against the border wall as alarm lights are still turning on all around them, making for a very panic inducing environment. They beg Nora to let them be taken to Atlas where it’s safe, saying they won’t survive here and decrying Ironwood for not doing anything to help. Nora tries to quell the outrage, promising they will be taken to safety, just give the huntsmen and huntresses a little more time.
But they soon get something better than “a little more time”, screens all over Mantle lighting up with a broadcast from Robyn Hill and General Ironwood who are hand in hand to prove there will be no lies. Such a useful Semblance Robyn has~ Ironwood is telling everyone about Salem right here and now, though he leaves out the part about her being Ozpin’s immortal evil ex and just says she’s the ancient and malicious force behind the attacks on Beacon and Haven. We see shots of our other heroes killing Grimm in Mantle, like Ruby with Harriet, and Ren and Jaune with Vine, as they realize Ironwood is coming clean. Even the villains are shown hearing what he has to say, Cinder and Neo watching the broadcast on the latter’s Scroll while Watts and Tyrian hide out in an alleyway. Speaking of those two bad boys, Ironwood publicly outs them as being responsible for all the recent hardship and freezing in Mantle and says that the panic and distrust they’ve sewn is exactly what Salem wants. It’s a pretty rousing speech, especially when he says that the people have what it takes to overcome this threat if they all work together. A pack of Sabyrs had been charging up the street to attack the people Ren and Jaune were protecting, but Vine uses his aura arms to spread them apart and press them against the buildings on either side so there is a clear path down the middle. As the General starts to inspire people, Jaune uses all his training and experience... from preschool crosswalk duty. It does help here though, since everyone gets into a single file line and keeps track of one another through a hand on the shoulder so they all stay close together while Jaune boosts Ren’s Semblance to mask the entire group from the Grimm pack they’re walking right through the middle of. He even has a few of the preschool kids there to “show’em how it’s done~”. The whole thing has a bit of a biblical Exodus vibe if I may be honest, and it’s kinda satisfying to see Jaune has skills and strengths no one saw coming from taking the work others thought was beneath them. Ironwood also admits why he wasn’t doing much to help Mantle, that being that he was focused on the Amity Tower that he says is now complete and ready to launch. The renovation of the Amity Coliseum is not news to Watts, but he didn’t know it was to become a communications tower and he pulls up the schematics in disbelief that James was working on such a big project without him noticing. Ironwood declares that he is taking all security ships away from Amity, and sending a dozen more down with them, to evacuate everyone in Mantle up to the safety of Atlas. Robyn publicly endorses and fully supports the plan and says now is the time to come together for peace, and the once terrified crowds cheer.
Someone who is NOT cheering is Tyrian, who punches a wall hard enough to leave cracks out of anger and frustration. All their work causing death and chaos, and the people are more united than ever. Peace like that is sickening to him. But Watts quells his rage for the moment, he’s still got a scheme in mind. He just needs Tyrian to cause a bit more trouble and keep the public’s eye on Mantle while he pays a visit to Ironwood’s pet project. Tyrian raises the valid point that this is already about as chaotic as you can get, but Watts plays to his ego and says if anyone can accomplish the task it’s a master like him. Robyn’s still on screen saying that the people still in shelters should stay put and transports will come to them, and that she will personally be coming to help in Sector 17. And that’s enough to inspire the psychopathic scorpion’s next move.
Meanwhile, we go back to Atlas where the cycloptic pyromaniac... I mean Cinder, is pissed that Watts and Tyrian have already started a grand plan before she arrived and she had no idea. Last she had heard Salem would be targeting Vacuo and she would have Atlas all to her secret self in the meantime. But she realizes that since she was left for dead at Haven Salem has changed the plan. She’s been out of the loop, but she’s not out of the game. Since everyone is focused on the trouble Watts started down in Mantle, no one will be paying attention if she makes her move in Atlas. Neo lets her disguise powers do the talking for her by turning into a perfect doppelganger of Ruby. She wants to go after Ruby now and get her revenge, but Cinder insists that they will be following HER plan dammit. First the Maiden powers (so she can become stronger and hopefully be able to kill Ruby at last), then they can indulge in cathartic revenge. So Neo will go after Oscar to get the lamp, since they want to take that from the heroes too, and Cinder will take advantage of Ironwood’s paranoia to expose Fria’s hiding spot. As we see next episode, she actually has a really good subtle plan for that. What is less subtle is the foreshadowing of how Neo will achieve her part of the plan: she’ll pose as one of the heroes she saw at the dinner party and thus can turn into to get close to Oscar and catch him by surprise, most likely that’s going to be Ruby.
Back down in Mantle, dozens of ships indeed start arriving and landing to evacuate the civilians to safety. We hear a sonic boom and see a streak of green dash across the sky. Another three Megoliaths charge at the ship Blake and Yang are helping herd people onto, but Elm reveals that her hammer is also a rocket launcher and uses it to blow the Grimm away. She even roots her feet down to brace herself against the recoil. Then she gives the cheering people an okay sign and a smile, it’s all in a day’s work! They hear a sonic boom too and the green streak soars by them too. Ruby and Harriet are looking for the closest landing zone to bring their group of civilians to, but instead find a bigger and meaner Megoliath than the last few. Maybe they were actually just Goliaths and this one is a real Megoliath... Regardless, it’s blocking the way to the LZ and charging at them. Luckily, the green streak soars in and is revealed to be Penny!! She shots a beam in front of the Grimm to disorient and stop it before landing with her friends. Harriet and Penny rush in to try and take the monster down, while Ruby tries to focus and tap into her Silver Eyes. Unlike last Volume, she can’t keep her focus for very long and abandons that strategy in favor of flying up to a rooftop to shoot the Grimm. It does next to nothing, as does Penny stabbing all her swords into the elephant’s exposed skull. Instead it pulls the poor android in close by the wires her swords are still attached to and sends her flying a few blocks away. Ruby dashes over to check on her, but she’s fine. She just cheerfully says ouch and comments on how dangerous the mammoth’s tusks are. This gives Ruby a great idea and we get one of those confidently nodding in agreement without even having to ask what the plan is moments from Penny... before she asks Ruby to tell her what it is. Harriet is still zooming around and weaving between the Grimm’s legs, trying whatever she can to stop or even slow the beast, to only detrimental results. Her Aura breaks, but Penny blasts the Megoliath’s head before it can trample the speedster and gets it to turn down a different street toward her. It does so, and she fires a Kamehameha at it. No, really. She moves her hands to one side and behind her to charge it, then keeps them cupped together to fire the blast in front of her! Admittedly the energy is coming from her swords spinning in a circle in front of her, as she has done since her first fight in Volume 1, but the hand movement was different here and more in line with Dragon Ball’s most iconic technique. Still, she one ups the reference by diverting 3 swords further down and to her left to fire a smaller beam at one of the Grimm’s tusks. The single point on tusk starts to heat up, while the larger beam seems to be mostly for slowing the Grimm. At Ruby’s signal, Penny stops the attack altogether and the speedster zooms right up to the Megoliath’s face to cut off the tusk at the point weakened by the heat of Penny’s beam. Clever strategy, weakening the density at that point to make it vulnerable. What comes next makes the plan epic though, as Penny grabs the severed tusk and impales it into the ground with the tip facing up while Ruby trips the mammoth’s back leg and it falls onto its own sharp body part. Much like the Omnidroid from the Incredibles, the only thing strong enough to kill it is itself. With the dangerous beast defeated, the people cheer and Penny’s reputation is restored as the Protector of Mantle. They can safely evacuate their group, and they hear similar good news from Nora and Yang’s squads. Hooray!
As Penny gives Robyn this good news over the comms, we cut to the hometown hero herself as she tells Joanna to bring the people they’re with to safety while she “checks for stragglers” and runs down an alley. Tyrian arrives to ambush her and bemoan how he hates all the hope and happiness she brings as he dodges her crossbow bolts and even catches one between his fingers before bending it with his thumb. But as he charges at her, a fishing hook almost snags him and he realizes he is the one being ambushed. Qrow and Clover are here to back Robyn up and she purposefully revealed her location to, no fishing pun intended, lure the killer in. She wants first crack at the bastard who killed her followers, but Clover wants to settle his grudge first. Unfortunately, neither can compare to the chip on Qrow’s shoulder after this punk poisoned him in Volume 4 so he’s earned the first shot. Tyrian does not like this new development one bit, and it’s possible he might just be outmatched... but we have to wait until next episode to see how that goes.
For the final storyline of the night, Doctor Watts is flying up to Amity to give the new communications tower a check up of sorts. With carpetbag in hand he makes his way to the center of the arena and surveys the renovations. They are... rather lackluster, and that’s the point. Ironwood lied about the tower being finished so he could bait Watts into coming to try and sabotage it, and the doors lock so the evil genius can’t escape. You might be wondering how the General could have lied when he was on video with a human lie detector, but they were sneaky and used a close up of just his face when he said the tower was completed so neither Watts or the audience saw that it was a lie!! Ironwood leaps down from the commentator’s booth to face Watts in the arena, and Watts uses his hacking rings to activate the biome system so their duel can be a bit more interesting~ A couple geyser and volcano biomes, and four gravity platform sections. The gravity biomes were apparently the only type CRWBY didn’t get to show off during the Vytal Tournament, so they made them the focal point of this fight. Ironwood has the good sense to try and shoot Watts while he’s bent over to touch the ground and activate the biomes, but the scientist is nothing if not ingenious and has a hexagonal shield of hard light Dust to project out of his right glove that stops the bullet. While Ironwood is checking what biomes are coming up, Watts runs off the edge and leaps onto one of the rising platforms in a gravity section. When all the mechanical changing is said and done, Watts has the high ground and both men draw their weapons. Ironwood of course has his two thick hand guns, while Watts is revealed to carry a flintlock pistol with gold vine designs up the double barrels and about... 18 or 20 chambers for bullets. That is way too much gun for one gun. From what small glimpse we get of the bullets, they seem to be hard light dust based, so who knows how much of an oomph they will pack? As he starts spinning the chambers, Watts admittedly indulges in cliche to say he won’t be going down without a fight. And that’s where the episode ends, a great cliffhanger leaving us in enthusiastic high spirits. I loved this episode a lot, and lots of other fans seem to have too.
Shame I have existential dread from the next one...

Get to Know Me
Rules: Always post the rules. Tag 11 new people you’d like to know better.
Tumblr media
1. Dogs or Cats?
Dogs for sure. I grew up with dogs and never really knew any cats so I don’t know how to read cats at all--but I do still enjoy their company.
2. YouTube celebrities or normal celebrities?
Neither but normal celebrities.
3. If you could live anywhere where would that be?
I’m pretty happy where I am (BC, Canada), to be honest. The downside is it’s expensive and I got lucky enough to be able to stay. I used to think maybe I could move to Montreal but I actually went there and it felt a lot like Vancouver but French.
4. Disney or DreamWorks?
I never differentiated between the two. When I watched a lot of movies, I used to think Disney, DreamWorks, and Pixar were the same company so that’s really muddled my perception of them and their work. I’m leaning DW though.
5. Favourite childhood TV show?
Uhh it was probably... DBZ. I watched a lot of stuff but DBZ was the only series I watched from beginning to end multiple times and religiously every Friday evening. I also loved Reboot and Beasties/Beast Wars.
6. The movie you’re looking forward to most in 2020
I don’t even know what came out in the last five years let alone what’s out next year. I rarely watch movies. Let me look...
Perhaps The King’s Man, as I really liked Kingsman. Maybe Venom 2, because... I liked the first movie. Will I see them? Probably not.
7. Favorite book you read in 2019?
I haven’t read any books through this year, I don’t think. I believe I went to the library a grand total of once, whereas I used to go every week. I did borrow three books last week, so maybe one of these will count?
How to Knit by Leslie Ann Bestor
Japanese Paper Flowers by Hiromi Yamazaki
Chinese Mythology A to Z by Jeremy Roberts
8. Marvel or DC?
Literally the only character I think of for DC is Green Lantern and I didn’t even watch those movies. So, Marvel.
9. If you choose Marvel favorite member of the X-Men? If you choose DC favourite Justice League member?
THIS GAME IS HARD. Nightcrawler was my favourite when I watched the animated series that aired Saturday mornings--not sure which one that was. I used to like Cyclops in the first few movies because I liked James Marsden’s style. I really liked Quicksilver’s intro in X-men. Uhm... Deadpool? :D
10. Night or Day?
Night, though I prefer light and chirping birds.
11. Favourite Pokemon?
I have agonised over this for years. I used to love Charmander but I've drifted away and don’t have a favourite anymore. I kinda want to say Mawile.
12. Top 5 bands:
My first instinct is to say Celldweller, Blue Stahli, Linkin Park, Florence + the Machine, and Yuki Kajiura (assuming “bands” also means “artists”). I think that still holds true-ish but nowadays I just listen to whatever I find that I enjoy, so it’s a lot of liking one song each from various artists.
13. Top 10 books.
I haven’t read much lately and don’t generally have favourites so these are mostly books I loved when I was a lot younger. In no particular order and probably missing some, ones I read multiple times:
Switchers series by Kate Thompson
White Fox Chronicles by Gary Paulsen
Animorphs and Everworld series by K. A. Applegate
Dragonback series by Timothy Zahn
Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey
Redwall series by Brian Jacques
Space Wolf saga by William King
Gaunt’s Ghosts series by Dan Abnett
Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs
The Dragon Takes a Wife by Walter Dean Myers (art by Fiona French)
14. Top 4 movies
Same as with any “top”/favourite things... I have no idea. How about some movies I liked and would recommend?
Legend of LuoXiaoHei (Legend of Hei is what you’ll probably find it under) - I recently watched the series (unfinished?) and the movie and they were both great but the movie takes the cake. If you have time to watch either, go for the movie. It has a Ghibli vibe, ATLA action and animation, and Chinese themes.
Into the Spiderverse
Kingsman
Summer Wars
I’m sure there are plenty I’ll kick myself for forgetting but here are four.
15. America or Europe?
I’ve never been to Europe but I think I’ll say Europe.
16. Tumblr or Twitter?
I’m between both about equally and infrequently. Fdsfjlskjfldksg Tumblr?
17. Pro-choice or Pro-life?
Pro-choice.
18. Favorite YouTuber?
None; I don’t follow people on YT. Props to people who upload entire themed series of music though.
19. Favorite author ?
Hard to say since, again, I haven’t read anyone in a while. W. B. Yeats. Charles de Lint.
20. Tea or Coffee?
Tea. I’ve never had coffee. I tried to eat a coffee bean though because I thought it was chocolate. Does that count?
21. OTP?
Uh. CloudxTifa, ZackxAerith, and EstinienxYsayle? :D? Wait, CuinnxAzena and Cuinn/Dalai LFKAJKLF (them ships with @pearlescent-scales)
22. Do you play an instrument/sing ?
Used to! I started on a recorder and xylophone (FORCED TO), moved to flute of my own volition, tried out trumpet and trombone, picked up a little acoustic guitar (I suck though, don’t ask me anything about guitars), and finished up my band career with a baritone. The only instrument I still have is my flute but I don’t live in a place that I can really practise. I left my guitar with my dad but I could pick it up again if I really wanted to.
Thank you for the tag, @niomemizune! I did it!!
TAGGING (and don’t feel you need to do it): @pearlescent-scales @refulgents @grumpy-limsan-customs-cat @elegant-etienne @ahumblewoodcarver @daintycure @eggplant-xaela @cockiestmageeorzea @thaneratelesia @ayeun @untaintedtea HHHH I think that’s 11!

Hey uhh question to the FNDM:
Is there a ship name for Ruby and Harriet? I don't know if it's a very common ship or not but I was thinking the Hare and the Hood? As a reference to the fairytales they are both inspired by?
SPEAKING OF WHICH:
Team RWBY are all inspired by different fairytales yes? And I don't know if it's meant to be a running theme for all of them, but so far the second half of team RWBY has had confrontations with bad guys that are also inspired by their fairytales.
Yang faced off against the youngest bear all the way back in her trailer, so the last member was the first to defeat her villain, making me feel like we might be going backwards in order of teammates.
Especially since we've spent more than a couple of seasons focused on Blake's rivalry with and eventual triumph over Adam, her beast.
And I don't know who's more of a witch at this point, Cinder or Salem, but I don't find it very likely that Weiss will have Salem as her personal antagonist. Not just Weiss but any of them, Salem is just too big of a threat to be anyone's personal antagonist alone. In my opinion, anyway.
Also I don't think it's a coincidence that the first time Salem is mentioned to team RWBY via Tyrian's monologueing, he calls her their queen and Ruby assumes he's referring to Cinder. I'm just saying, snow White's villain is an evil queen, who also happens to be a witch, and is obsessed with being the fairest of them all.
And a woman constantly after power who is quick to hold a grudge? Kinda fits the bill. Of course she has a lot more reason story wise to be Ruby's antagonist so perhaps there's something I'm missing.
And I know Weiss had Jacques to overcome but he doesn't feel like he's related to any part of the fairytale she's inspired by.
So, with Weiss's fairytale properly dissected we come to the final teammate, the leader and the namesake, Ruby Rose.
Little Red Riding Hood has to deal with the big bad wolf, a deceptive character who tricks her into revealing where she's going and who she's meeting, and then removes that person from the picture and poses as them, allowing for a situation where she is vulnerable and unguarded around the wolf, giving them a chance to strike when she is unprepared.
Now, what established, villainous character who already has a reason to act against Ruby specifically, and who can pretend to be anyone, do we know of?
Tumblr media
Or maybe I'm just taking the whole fairytale parallel thing far too seriously...
That's All, Folks!
(except for all my ramblings in the tags oops)

ANSWER ALL THEM YOU BITCH👩‍💻🤪
Ooh she's getting fiesty 😈😂 here you are, love ❤
1. What is your preferred place to write?
Laptop/computer, but since I dont have either anymore, my phone is my go to
2. When did you start writing?
I think it was 8th grade offically; my english teacher got me into reading and writing so that was the 2013/2014 school year I think
3. Favourite thing to write?
Idk, I like writing gay smut if that counts for something 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
4. Fluff or angst?
I'm good at writing fluff but I love reading angsty stuff
6. Where do you usually find inspiration?
Ideas come to me in dreams, otherwise if I'm watching a movie/TV, listening to music, or just seeing something during the day will spark something.
7. Do you listen to music to help you write?
Yes! I would get soooo distracted if I didn't; that way I dont hear anything outside my head and I can focus on my writing (I'm listening to music now as I'm answering these too actually 😂)
8. What's the biggest "challenge" for you as a writer?
Finding time to write at all; I've got so many ideas bopping around in my head but life gets in the way 😭😭
9. Where do you usually go to write?
My room usually; it gives me privacy and a lot less distractions than my living room or outside the house.
10. Can you give us a sneak peek at your current WIP?
Yes!! I love this scene so much so you get to read it again;
My phone buzzed in my hands and I look down to see Sofia's face smiling at me. I pause my music and pull my earbuds out.
"The Kid's calling," I say aloud before answering. "Hey, Fi!"
"Hey yourself, is Steve available? I've got history questions that I need help with and he's not answering his phone."
I roll my eyes but put the phone on speaker. "Steve, Fi needs help with her homework."
"What's up, kiddo?" Steve asks, keeping his eyes on the road.
"Stupid history homework; about the Commandos and I thought, 'what better way to finish this then get it straight from the source, old man," Sofia says. Sam lets out a small laugh and Bucky shifts awkwardly beside me.
"Alright, shoot," Steve says with a shake of his head.
"Original 7 members? I only know 3 of them off hand," Sofia starts.
"Easy, Me, Buck, Dum Dum, Morita, Jones, Monty, and Frenchy," Steve says casually. There's a pause before Sofia's sigh echoes through the car.
"I don't think my teacher would appreciate it if I put their names in as if we were best friends," Sofia says offhandedly.
Steve cleats his throat awkwardly. "Right. Uh, Steve Rogers, James Barnes, Timothy Dugan, Jim Morita, Gabriel Jones, James Montgomery Falsworth, and Jacques Dernier," Steve reiterates after Sofia's let's out little "uh huhs."
"Why were the Howling Commandos formed?" Sofia asks next.
"To eliminate and wipe HYDRA bases off the map; although it seems we weren't very successful," Steve says with a frown and I see his eyes flash towards the rear view mirror, to look at Bucky, I'm assuming.
"Who did the Commandos capture during a raid in the Alps?"
"Arnim Zola."
There was a pause and I couldn't help but look over at Bucky who almost looked startled that he had spoken.
"Who was that?" Sofia asks a moment later.
"Oh, uh, Sofia, that was Bucky," I say, my voice cracking at his name. Sofia stays quiet. I check my phone and see the phone was still connected.
"Bucky?" Sofia asks, sounding doubtful.  "As in Stevie's Bucky?"
I feel Bucky almost stiffen in surprise next to me. "Yeah, that would be him," I confirm.
Sofia stays quiet for a few beats again before clearing her throat. "Right, well when do you think you guys are gonna be home? I hate all of this cooking I've gotta do now that you guys are gone, not that either of you were chef's," Sofia complains.
"I'm not sure, kiddo," Steve chirps from in front of me. I lean my elbows onto the front seat and rest my head near his shoulder. "We've got something really important to take care of."
"Okay, well stay safe, and don't do anything stupid; Sam, keep them in line," Sofia says with a laugh.
"Will do, Half Pint," Sam promises.
"Well, I'll talk to you guys later. And it was nice to meet you Bucky," she says.
Bucky doesn't respond, but the rest of us say goodbye before I hang up.
"Thanks, Steve," I say, clapping my hands over Steve's shoulders.
"Anytime; I don't mind helping the kid out," Steve says.
I ruffle Steve's hair before leaning back and laughing. Bucky was looking between Steve and I with confusion written all over his face.
"So the kid?" Bucky asks, his eyes resting on Steve for a moment before looking at me.
"Yeah, she's great," Steve says excitedly and flashes Bucky a smile.
"She's my sister," I say and look down to see Sofia had texted me.
I forgot to ask while on the phone but could you ask Steve if I can look through some of his stuff that the museum let him have back?
"Hey Steve, can she look through the stuff the Smithsonian gave back to you? She didn't say what for though," I ask.
"Yeah, no problem, tell her I've got stuff in the chest at the end of the bed."
"Cool cool, thanks," I say and pass the information onto Sofia.
"Not a problem," Steve says as he takes the off ramp and turns left. "Sharon's just up here," he points out a black car that was pulled over under the bridge.
Steve pulls over and ducks out of the car and greets Sharon with a smile.
Bucky sits up and looks out the front window, eyes flickering across the background, scanning the surrounding area. Bucky's knees hit the back of Sam's seat and he glares at the back of Sam's head.
"Can you move your seat up?" He asks for probably the 100th time this trip, sounding bored.
"No," Sam replies once again.
I roll my eyes and squish myself against the window. "Scoot over here more," I offer, pointing towards the leg room that I've got behind Steve's seat.
"Thanks," Bucky mumbles and scoots over so his arm is pressed against mine. It was quiet while we watched Steve and Sharon talk as she popped her trunk. "So," Bucky starts quietly, trying to exclude Sam from the conversation. "How long have you and Steve been together?"
Sam, of course, hears and snorts out a laugh, having to hold onto the door for support.
I felt my face flush and I reach over the seat to smack Sam across the side of his head. "Shut up, bird brain. Steve and I aren't together though," I say, turning to look at Bucky who looked embarrassed.
"Sorry, I just assumed…" Bucky apologizes.
"Nah, it's okay, everyone apparently thinks the same thing," I say with a shrug. "Steve's like a brother to me. Plus right now he's not swinging this way."
Bucky's eyebrows shoot up as he looks at me with wide eyes. "So like, he's..?"
"Gay? Yeah, basically. He still likes women, but he's actually with my brother, Graham," I say, pulling up a picture of Graham, Steve, Sofia, and I on my phone. Tony insisted on us having more family pictures even though we were the least conventional family on the planet.
"So being… a homosexual," Bucky says, almost sounding like the term was weird coming off his tongue. "That's openly okay now? I don't mind, but the 30s really pressed people down, so I didn't think Steve… at least I think, from what I remember," Bucky trails off and looks out to see Steve giving Sharon a hug before grabbing the gear from the trunk.
"He was hard on himself at first," I say, remembering how weird Steve would act whenever Graham would say something to try and test the waters. "I think knowing and befriending Graham really helped him a lot, seeing that it's not a mental illness, that you wouldn't be imprisoned or institutionalized for it."
Bucky still looks at Steve, but there was a small smile crooked at the corner of his mouth and his eyes seemed fond.
"I'm happy for him," is all Bucky says in reply.
"So am I," I say, patting Bucky's forearm with my hand. "So am I."
11. How many stories have you written so far?
Well I've only ever completed 1, (excluding oneshots) but I've got... at leave 7 going, a few that I've discontinued, and a shit ton of ideas that haven't been written yet 😂

Well I'm honestly so proud of my Beauty and the Beast Lashton fanfic that I wrote and the only one I've ever finished. But I'm also sooo proud of 2 WIPs that I'm writing with the lovely asker
Tumblr media
13. How many chapters does your longest series have?
I dont have any series yet, but my longest fic has like 200,000 words and no distinctive chapters yet (writing specific scenes then gluing them together)

I personally like writing OCs but I've been getting into readers lately
16. Can you tell us anything about your current WIP?
I suppose, but asker already knows since she's helping me write it 😂 it's a Marvel fic about these two girls and their brother who lose their parents in the Battle of New York in 2012. 17. How long was the longest fic you ever wrote?
Question 13 kinda answered this question but its 200,000ish and growing

I have a weakness for Professor Seb/Bucky and I love stucky (and StuckyxReaders) so if you know of any hmu 😉
22. A fanfiction trope you can't help but love?
ENEMIES TO LOVERS FUCK
23. For how long have you been a fandom writer?
Shortly after I started writing, so like 2015?
24. Have you ever had an idea for a story and forgot about it?
Absolutely! I usually loosely plot out the whole thing and try and hit the main points but by like... 1/4 or 1/2 way through depending on how long it is I'm like fuck I totally forgot I was going to add that (and by then it wouldn't make sense to add it in)
25. What do you do to motivate yourself to write?
Listen to music, but I also read what I've got to help myself get back into the flow of the story.
26. How did you find out you like to write?
Like I said it was 8th grade and my english teacher showed me this new side of reading that I didnt know about and then I was like fuck I can do this too!
27. Are there any writers (fanfiction writers or not) that have inspired you to start writing?
Well I used to only read the Twilight series, but then I read Cassandra Clare's books, and the it sorta branched out from there, so Stephanie Meyer and Cassandra Clare are who you should thank for that 😂
28. What's your favourite fandom to write for?
Does Stucky count as it's own fandom? Because that ship sails itself man #ExceptEndgame #FuckingSucked
Tumblr media
29. Describe your style in three words.
Um... smutty... gay.... fluffy?
30. What would you say is the most "famous" fic you've ever written?
Well I've got one on Wattpad with almost 20k but it's a continuation of a story that has like 300k, otherwise most of my other ones on there have 4k actually.
31. Blurbs or drabbles?
Both are great, dudes 🤷‍♀️
32. Have you ever written smut?
Tumblr media
33. How long does it usually take you to write?
Used to be I could get like 20 chapters (decently long ones too) in about 8 months but now I'm not really posting anything and I'm slowly working on a current WIP
34. What's your favourite font to use when writing?
Ariel, size 11, 1.15 line spacing. Veranda is a nice font too though
35. What do you prefer to write: longer or shorter fics?
I like long ones man; but I either write forever long ones or oneshots 😂
36. How do you keep yourself inspired? Seeing new things, listening to new music. Sleeping?
37. Have you ever written something you didn't like but posted it anyway?
I don't think so. I mean I've posted stuff that I wasn't excited about, but I don't think I've ever hated anything I've written
38. What's your "strong suit" as a writer?
My OCD with punctuation and formatting?
39. What's your favourite trope?
Friends who are oblivious to the other persons feelings so they dont ever make a move until they're drunk 🤷‍♀️ *40s Stucky bonus*
40. How many likes does your fics usually get?
300 for 4k reads on Wattpad
41. Have you ever used a prompt?
Absolutely! Sometimes you just need a little help and there ain't nothing wrong with that!
42. What is your weakness as a writer?
I am obsessed with the small details that nobody cares about (especially height comparisons) but I think that comes from my artistical side.
43. Have you ever cried or felt any emotion while reading something you wrote?
Oh absolutely, all the fucking time!
44. Have you ever done a collab with another writer?
Yes! Only 1 other writer who is also the asker 😘😘
45. One thing you love about fanfiction?
I think it's an amazing thing to write because people already have deep connections with the characters so you dont have to waste the first part telling their story (unless it's an AU, but even then it's totally okay to just jump right into it!)
46. What's your favourite emotion to cause your readers?
I definitely enjoy leaving them on the edge of their seats, but I also love writing fluffy scenes that make peoples hearts flutter
47. What's your favourite thing about writing?
The creativity and ability to create a reality! There's endless possibilities and that's so fascinating and amazing to me
48. Do you post your writing on other platforms? I only post on Wattpad, but I have thought about posting things on tumblr too! Thoughts?
49. What app/apps do you use to write?
Either google docs or just in Wattpad itself
50. One thing you don't like about fanfiction?
Some people get the characters totally wrong personality wise and that sorta bugs me when reading because I get confused
51. Least favourite trope?
Coffee shop AUs are a little boring unless somebody brings something new to the table (like one of them is a vampire or witch or single parent instead of just like OH this barista/customer is cute). But if I come across a coffee shop AU I'm not going to NOT read it, you know?
52. Favourite words to use when writing?
No? I mean I know everyone's writing is different and unique to the person but I don't think I have any favourites.
53. Least favourite words?
When writing straight smut I get uncomfortable with certain words people use to describe the female anatomy other then that no 🤷‍♀️
54. Do you usually like what you write?
Yeah! And if I don't, I'll change it until I like it before posting it 😂
thank you @scaryaryanna for the lovely ask and thank you to anybody who stuck around to read everything ❤❤❤❤❤

RWBY, and Representing Other Characters from their Inspirations
So uh, I kinda galaxy brained this out of nowhere and it’s a little random but bear with me because I hope this makes some amount of sense, and I’m guessing others have already made this connection and I just haven’t seen but still:
Team RWBY are, in some ways, also representative/on their way to being representative of other characters within their fairytale inspirations.
Again, I’m not the best at making all of this make sense, but I hope people get the general point I’m trying to make and develop their own understanding of how this idea works. Basically, team RWBY, while clearly inspired by a certain character within a fairytale, also draw from other characters within the same story instead of having every character in a fairytale represented by a character in the show. More of my ramblings will be below a cut, but they’re mostly going off this main point and making an attempt to explain this argument for each character separately.
Weiss is easiest to follow, given how her story presents it so clearly. She’s her own prince, coming from what is effectively royalty in Remnant as heiress to the SDC. And that’s the point; she’s not waiting for a prince to save her, she is the prince (or princess, in her case), perfectly capable of saving herself and breaking the curse placed on her by her family, the cursed apple that is whatever the fuck Jacques has done to the SDC.
Yang being the three bears is a little more complicated, so I’m gonna break it down via how her story progresses over V1-6 along with her stated inspiration of Goldilocks. She starts out as papa bear, preferring things too hot, too full of action and excitement. Then, after the fall, she takes the role of mama bear, takes things too cold, distant and removed from happenings as she deals with depression and PTSD. Going into V7, she’s moving onto baby bear, getting things just right, ready to be eaten by Blake, and finishing the arc completely.
Blake as both Beauty and Beast is so fucking obvious I don’t feel like I have to explain it? But I’ll give the footnotes just in case. Yang, Blake and Adam all have some allusions to the Beast; Blake can, for most intents and purposes, be considered as some part of the “good” in the Beast, who goes out of their way to protect the things that matter most, ultimately breaking the curse placed on them by finding true love, in Blake’s case this is represented by the fight she and Yang have with Adam, where he stands for the monster the beast could potentially become along with the curse.
Ruby’s probably the hardest reach on account of her “transformation” being incomplete and possibly not even fully started, so we’ll finish there; she’s also the woodcutter, the one responsible for killing the wolf in some interpretations. Now, it’s a bit of a stretch to say it’s alluded to when she cuts a tree down in V1 but like, that’s also there so we’ll roll with it. The main point of this one is that she may potentially kill a “wolf” character that’s impersonating her “grandma” (that’s Maria btw), either someone we’ve met or that will take up that role soon. Obviously, Crescent Rose isn’t an axe, but it’ll probably do the job just as well.

title: im bored and its currently 1.30 am
i saw some other comments on how much wider the lesbian representation is in cartoons for children compared to the gay one so for the sake of science and of being completely bored i actually tried to do a compendium of all the canon lesbians/bi women in western kids animation.
- Bubbline obviously is the first one that comes to your mind. Hinted at and CENSURED for YEARS, they finally had the kiss scene in the serie finale. If we really want to go wide, we can also count Achillea and Amazonia, the two lesbian ghost that appeared in morituri te salutamus (one of my persona favourite episodes) along with two gay ghost couples.
- Korrasami, the second big w/w couple you think of when thinking about lgbt characters in cartoons. The hold hands for three seconds at the very end of Legend of Korra. Kya and Kiyoshi, the other two wlw in the serie, are confirmed only in the comics.
- Ezor and Zethrid from Voltron, since this was obviously pronted by Voltron because its 1 am and i am tired and petty. They are evil, they die, they are confirmed as lesbians after their death and fit the “psycho lesbian” trope.
- EJ and Sue in Clarence, Jeff’s mothers.
- Katherine Kane in Batman: Bad Blood. Not sure this can count as kid animation tbh but let’s just put this here for the scene where Kate flirts with Renee Montoya
- Storks wich i have absolutely no idea what it is but apparently “near the end of the film, the storks deliver babies to straight, lesbian and gay couples, and single parents.”
- Scandal Savage and Knockout in Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay. Still I’m not sure this can be considered a kid cartoon but just because let’s leave them here (Scandal Savage is such a hot butch omg)
- Maggie Sawyer and Toby Raynes in Batman TAS who are seen near each others at the hospital and at a funeral. Never explicitly stated as lesbian in the serie.
- Marie Logan in Young Justice, Beast Boy’s dead mother. Also I’m pretty sure her death, aka the proof she’s either a lesbian or a bi woman, is in the comics and not even the animated serie.
- Plum in Bravest Warriors who is bi and kisses a girl only in the comics.
- Simone and Julie in Dofus. I haven’t seen it so I will refrain from comment.
- Luna Loud in The Loud House who is bi.
- Zarya and Kitty in Mysticons. Hinted and censored throught the serie.
- Then let’s go to Steven Universe wich representation is bad honestly bad oh so bad but let’s list them because: Pearl, a lesbian with an obsession for her former slavemaster, Rose Quartz, a manipulative bi woman who is actually a space fascist and that takes advantage of her personal servant who is in love with her, Lapis Peridot and Jasper I Guess??? It’s never actually confirmed that they are in love so much as Jasper and Lapis has been confirmed outside the serie by Rebecca that they are a metaphor for abusive relationships and Lapis/Peridot is a bad non canon fanfic of that one screenwriter whos name i forgot and Peridot and Lapis live together and Lapis is being creepy again and then she leaves for the moon. Then there’s Ruby and Sapphire wich is actually the only genuine good lgbt representation in steven universe they married and kissed on screen i am honestly mad such an iconic moment in kids animation is because of Steven Universe.
So at the end we have
4 characters who gets confirmed as couples only at the very end of their respective series and two of wich has been censured for years.
3 dead lesbians, two of wich were evil and non of which were confirmed in canon/in the serie
Another censored lesbian couple
4 characters from two animated movies that i can hardly call for children (they arent.)
A couple that is seen standing next to each others.
3 who are confirmed as wlw in the comics.
2 ghosts who appear in one episode.
And Steven Universe.
And people call this wide lesbian representation ..ok.
And just for the sake of science now let’s write all the gay characters appeared in kids animation.
Mitch from Paranorman: gets confirmed as gay on the last minute of movie so kinda shitty but it still counts. Gobber from HTTYD2: hinted since he said he never married because of “reasons”. Storks for the aforementioned reasons. Lexington in Gargoyles, censured gay. Mr Simmons in Hey Arnold, censured gay. Mark Jones from Braceface. Dean Toadblatt and Squidhat in the Grim Adventure of Bill and Mandy. Since i mentioned the two lesbian ghosts from adventure time there are other two couple of gay ghosts in the same episode morituri te salutamus. Blubs and Durland in Gravity Falls finale. Kevin in Clarence. Tom and Jacques in Total Drama. That shithole that is Shiro and Adam in Voltron. Howard and Harold McBride who are a married couple and fathers of the best friend of the protagonist. Ghost two dads in Summer Camp Island. Paul and Bayani in 16 hudson wich is actually a preschool show so how talking about kids, kudos. Bow’s two dads in She-Ra its not out yet but we know they are canon so.
