Thank you for the feedback! I chose the most expensive card stock the manufacturer had to offer so I hope they last until we all are very old 😁

basically do you prefer to play solo or do you prefer to get the story run with the scions and then play with others or do you hate support/trust etc etc
this occurred to me when I was making the least favorite dungeons polls and people were mentioning other players as reasons they didn't like certain dungeons which is something I didn't consider for my own choices in later dungeons since I always run them as trusts unless I'm with a friend

The rise of "let people enjoy things" is single handedly the backbone of the rise of anti intellectualism
#i need to talk about this#disclaimer : im beyond terrible at putting my point across#so with that being said let me attempt at it#let's take look at the hate and misogyny women receive for liking a certain genre of books#that is so often simply countered with let people enjoy things#but we cannot let that narrative take over a whole as if critical thinking is “bad”?#booktok has made it so that disliking a popular books makes you the person with the superiority complex who should just let people enjoy-#-things#but when did criticizing actively target audiences who like that peice of literature? When did that become the narrative?#its all mindless consumption without a second thought to the actual material which can easily be credited to the tropification of books#the enemies do turn into lovers and the best friends do fall in love 10 years down the line#classifying books into tropes and then fulfilling that promise gives books an illusion of being “good” since it checks those boxes-#-that the reader picked up the book for in the first place#the act of reading has kind of been substituted by the act of being a reader and just owning stacks of books#we have turned away from any form of analysis or criticism#if it scratches the itch then its automatically the perfect book without further thought#i cant help but contribute the mere existence of that “itch” to how mordern books are classified into tropes with set plotlines#intelligenctualism is almost always looked at as elitism#reading only classics doesn't make you an intellectual individual but looking at any book with a critical lens may it be a classic or a rom#-com does#criticizing certain aspects of your absolute favorite books is intellectualism and not bullying people who like anything but classics#that distinction is so far lost in translation that talking about how a popular book is objectively bad is being a “hater”#well then im a hater#this is not a hate post for people who actively enjoy booktock or the more popular books#im just trying to introduce any amount of nuance into the conversation thats all#i can honestly go on forever but i think ill end my ranting here#literary criticism#literature#books#anti intellectualism

under the weather and re-reading his dark materials, never gonna understand how tf certain religious people get so mad at the critique of the organizations of religion in certain fictional works
#personal#not to get like religious on here and whatnot#but like when a writer makes an allegorical criticism of the catholic church for example#it's rarely a criticism of catholicism as a religion#there's very rarely any actually finger wagging at the concept of believing in a higher power or the structure of the religion#the criticisms often come down on the bureaucracy of the church#and a) that's more than fair ESPECIALLY when it comes to the catholic church and criticizing bureaucracy≠criticizing faith#b) as a faithful person how do you NOT want the bureaucracy to do better#the church is the intermediary between god and the people the pope is god's representative on earth#how do you NOT want that organization to be good and godly and doing well#how do you NOT want to be able to have it free of corruption and abuse#like the church itself has a long history of trying to fix its bureaucracy that's the entire reasoning behind the council of trent#and the counterreformation#the existence of the jesuits as a holy order with vows of poverty and instructions to always help others first#exists as a way to reverse the image people had of priests at the time as moneygrubbing selfish decadent asshats#who only cared about getting richer at the expense of others and never actually doing anything for the people#how does someone as a faithful person not look at critics and go 'yeah obviously they need to be listened to'#'so that we can have a better system to participate in when engaging in faith'#like i'm catholic i would LOVE to be a part of a church that doesn't abuse children or hate gay people#it's why i'm always so stoked whenever pope francis gets on his liberalism box and tries to fix it#it's why i'm always happy whenever father martin (if you know you know) gets prominent placements in certain vatican conferences#cuz hell yeah i want the church to better hell yeah i wanna hear criticisms and see how the church can be better#and make up for the horrible things it's done in the past#you're not faithful to a system of offices you're faithful to like god and jesus#and as such you should want the people representing them to be on the up and up#idk i woke up early and i'm on adderall as i said but i'm too sick to go to class today#so have this

For the fanfic asks: 😅, 😈, 🤡, 🍦, 💖 and 🤲🏼 (plz 🥹)
TYSM for the Qs, Dani! 🥰
What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?
Soooo many, omg. I've been writing since I was around twelve/thirteen? And some of those early works -- oof. 😅 Up until a few years ago my first ever fic was still available to read on ff.net. It was... charmingly bad.
The original draft of ML has its moments too, I'll admit. Things that I am SO glad I changed/re-structured.
Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?
Mayyybbeeee. >:) I knew what I was doing when I went straight from the scrying cliffhanger into a twelve year time-skip. I was a little worried about it being TOO jarring, in all honesty. Twelve years is a long time, after all. But hopefully that isn't the case!
There are a few scenes coming up in ML that I think may fall into this category, also.
What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
(Excerpt from the lil' Christmassy one shot I mentioned a while back. Set several months prior to the events of ML):
Tumblr media
What's the sweetest fic you've created so far?
The Forgiven is pretty sweet! But ofc, the themes are somewhat... intense. Same goes for ML. I think the latter takes the cake in terms of sweetness, however. Given the romantic tones, later on. Not to mention all the familial fluff! Something something Winter/Jack/Blaise hug on the steps of Frost Manor... (There is an overabundance of hugs, which makes me, personally, very happy!)
What made you start writing?
Honestly? A desire to escape reality. I know that sounds a bit gloomy, but it's the truth. Whenever life got just a little too stressful/intense my natural inclination was to withdraw to the written word/the multiple fantasy worlds existing inside my head. I found it therapeutic! And continue to do so.
Would you please share a snippet of a wip?
For the longest time I couldn't decide which snip to include. Two stood out to me, and in the end I just said "fuck it, I'll post both", lmao. I dunno when I'm going to be able to get the next chapter of ML up (soon, hopefully, but life happens!) and I've been looking for an opportunity to share some write-y stuff. I think it's safe to say that I've plumbed the depths of that opportunity here -- apologies! 😂
(Lengthy -- and ever-so-slightly spoiler-y -- excerpts from ML under the cut!)
‘Is that really necessary, lady?’
‘Every detail counts, Council Member Cupid. Even that which might seem negligible on the face of it can lead to deeper truths. In any case, when you opened the door, Dr. Miller, there was no one there?’
‘No. No one.’
‘You didn’t even see a silhouette? A retreating shadow?’
‘…I’m sorry, no.’
‘No matter. How heavy would you say the footsteps were?’
Lucy frowned. She’d never thought of that before.
‘Fairly heavy,’ she answered, after several seconds. ‘Heavier than Jack’s, now that I think about it.’
‘Oh, well, thank you,’ Jack said, sounding rather flattered. ‘My secret is jazz-ice-size. Like jazzercise, but on skates. Very trimming.’
Ms Delaney noted this down. (The footsteps thing, not the “jazz-ice-size”). ‘You then stepped out into the corridor, and saw… what, exactly?’
Lucy described the detonator, the explosion, the retreat into what she now knew to be her mindscape. Coming to and finding the tunnel all-but collapsed.
‘Hm. And you were trapped there… how long, would you say? Before your brother — Charlie, is it? Yes, Charlie — came to your aid?’
Lucy’s knee was bouncing anxiously now, her palms clammy inside her gloves. She could feel her heart-rate beginning to climb, as she was plunged back into the darkness and claustrophobia of that night. Into the feeling of complete hopelessness, and the stomach-turning reality that she might die like that — frightened and in pain, struggling for breath. Somehow the memory still had the capacity to wound her, even after all these years, its remnants buried in the folds of her mind like broken glass beneath a shallow layer of earth.
‘F— ahem. Four hours, I think.’
Beside her, Scott released a slow breath. Lucy didn’t dare look at him, or any of the other Council Members. She disliked the sympathy and guilt mentions of the attack tended to garner. People suffered far worse, after all.
‘Give-give or take,’ she added, when the silence stretched on. ‘It’s all a bit of a blur now. Charlie just had this… sense, that something was wrong. And when he tried to call and I didn’t answer, he came looking. Took me to the hospital. I was fine.’
The image of her brother’s panic-stricken face swam, unbidden, to the forefront of her mind. Having managed to dislodge the worst of the wreckage he’d eventually shimmied his way through a narrow ingress to the place where Lucy’d lain — half-conscious and terrified.
‘Shh, it’s all right,’ he’d murmured, pulling her to his chest, one hand questing through her hair for the source of the blood she hadn’t felt trickling down the side of her face. ‘I’ve got you. You’re safe now, Squirt. I won’t let anything happen to you…’
Only then had Lucy allowed herself a moment of frailty, collapsing against him in a fit of muffled sobs. Which had turned to panicked gasps, which had turned to—
She cleared her throat, banishing the memory hastily.
Out of the corner of her eye she saw Jack’s long fingers twitch in her direction, and for the briefest of moments she thought he intended to take her hand beneath the table. …But no. He curled them into a tight fist at his side.
---
The room was dim, the muted glow of early morning falling across the walls like a running watercolour.
‘Look sharp, Frost,' Melusine whispered, dropping a copy of the New York Times onto his lap. ‘The two of you made the front page.’
After some difficulty Jack succeeded in freeing his arm (which was now decidedly numb) from where it had been wedged between Lucy and the sofa cushions, taking enormous care not to jostle her too much. Her hair — still a little curly from the humidity of the tunnel — slipped over her face, the light from Widener's Orb threading through it like pale fingers.
Doing his utmost to appear unmoved as she nestled further into his chest, and not at all like he was turning to slush on the inside, he picked up the newspaper, straightening it with a flourish. Sure enough, there, on the cover, was what looked like a bystander’s photograph of the spectacle in Times Square.
Jack grimaced, his gaze moving from the fifteen-foot wall of ice, to the ten-or-more car pile-up, to the startled faces of his and Lucy’s likenesses, and back again.
He swore under his breath.
‘It’s not the only one, I’m afraid,’ said Melusine, leaning forward to turn the page. ‘There’s a special feature. Look.’
He was greeted by two images: One of the mangled subway car, twisted and smouldering where it lay lengthways across the tracks, and a close-up of he and Lucy running hand-in-hand through the urgent press of commuters/NYPD officers, Lucy shooting a jet of scarlet light (an immobilising jinx, it looked like) over her shoulder.
“Senseless Social Media Stunt or Signs of the Supernatural? You Decide,” the headline read, in large, spidery typography.
“Do sorcerers live among us? How about superheroes? Or, indeed, supervillains? The answer might surprise you!
"Yesterday afternoon Manhattanites bore witness to a rather unusual -- and highly destructive -- chain of events, involving a nameless man (40s?) and woman (30s?), as well as a mysterious cloaked individual, who were captured from multiple angles using what appear to be magical wands/staffs (yes, really!) to wreak havoc in Bryant Park Station on W 42nd. As well as summoning ice and snow from thin air in the middle of Times Square! Elsa who?"
‘Shit,’ Jack said softly, rubbing his chin. ‘That’s… definitely not ideal.’
‘Mm.’
‘...They might’ve at least captured my good side.'
‘Is that really the thing to be focusing on right now, Jack? You don't think there might be more pressing issues at hand?'

Which tragic character from ancient Greek literature are you?
Tumblr media
Antigone.  You are Antigone, from the Theban plays by Sophocles. You are bold, unwavering in your morals and your passion, an unstoppable force of nature. but when you go head-to-head with an immovable object, your ideals can lead you to self-destruction. You are stubbornly resilient and fearless to a fault, and aren’t afraid to stand alone in the face of death. Antigone, in your quest for justice, don’t forget: you are allowed to step back, to love life a little, to be young once more before soldiering on to the very very end. Be selfish in your fierceness, just once.
note that is not part of the results and not even what I was looking for wiki just goddamn hurled this at my face: The meaning of the name is, as in the case of the masculine equivalent Antigonus, "worthy of one's parents" or "in place of one's parents".
#alright well#this is fine™ i guess#what i will say is what is interesting to me is the way that.......... henry is selfish in his selflessness#it's... it's really the fact that it's not a total selflessness (he is often toward the lower end of his list but he is On the list)#nor a total altruism#it is a good will and a good heart and desire for good things to be done#but the thing is. His people come first and they always will.#he will make those choices where he will favor them over the like.......#you can't trolley problem him because he doesn't really get stuck over it. yes the other thing that happened was awful.#he still picks (and would pick again) his loved ones#thE. THE POINT. being.#i think the reason so very many quizes box him for altruistic and over-giving is the way that the quizzes miss#he *is* selfish in his fierceness.#but rather than ''selfish'' meaning strictly ''regarding the self'' and applying only to him it applies first and foremost and forever#to his people.#that's his loudest and most treasured value; his people#and so when quizzes ask ''what would you do for them'' and he says ''everything'' they go ''altruistic martyr''#but it misses the part where that is not for everyone. that is not a Henry everyone is entitled to#(it's a Henry *anyone* **could*** be entitled to. you could become that to him in many capacities#but it doesn't.#it doesn't just Apply (Broad)#there are his people and then there is everyone else. in that order.#☩ chicken on a raft ( DASH GAME. )

Sometimes at work I just want to pull a Clippy and be like, "it looks like you're trying to test this patient for vitamin D deficiency! I say that because the diagnosis code you used is 'Screening for Vitamin D deficiency'! But the test you asked for is Vitamin D dihydroxy (not to be used for vitamin D deficiency screening). Did you mean to ask for the much more common and less expensive test, Vitamin D 25 hydroxy, instead?"
But no, we're not supposed to fill out a follow up request if a doctor explicitly asked for the test, which they did.
Hey, this is a great example how American healthcare is wildy inefficient and riddled with errors!

Fanfiction Authors: HEADS UP
(Non-authors, please RB to signal boost to your author friends!)
An astute reader informed me this morning that one of my fics (Children of the Future Age) had been pirated and was being sold as a novel on Amazon:
Tumblr media
(And they weren't even creative with their cover design. If you're going to pirate something that I spent a full year of my life writing, at least give me a pretty screenshot to brag about later. Seriously.)
I promptly filed a DMCA complaint to have it removed, but I checked out the company that put it up -- Plush Books -- and it looks like A LOT of their books are pirated fic. They are by no means the only ones doing this, either -- the fact that """publishers""" can download stories from AO3 in ebook format and then reupload them to Amazon in just a few clicks makes fic piracy a common problem. There are a whole host of reasons why letting this continue is bad -- including actual legal risk to fanfiction archives -- but basically:
IF YOU ARE A FANFIC AUTHOR WITH LONG AND/OR POPULAR WORKS, PLEASE CHECK AMAZON TO SEE IF YOUR STORIES HAVE BEEN PIRATED.
You can search for your fics by title, or by text from the description (which is often just copied wholesale from AO3 as well). If you find that someone has stolen your work and is selling it as their own, you can lodge a DMCA complaint (Amazon.com/USA site; other countries have different systems). If you haven't done this before, it's easy! Here's a tutorial:
HOW TO FILE A COPYRIGHT COMPLAINT FOR STOLEN WORK ON AMAZON.COM:
First, go to this form. You'll need to be signed into your Amazon account.
Select the radio buttons/dropdown options (shown below) to indicate that you are the legal Rights Owner, you have a copyright concern, and it is about a pirated product.
Enter the name of your story in the Name of Brand field.
In the Link to the Copyrighted Work box, enter a link to the story on AO3 or whatever site your work is posted on.
Tumblr media
In the Additional Information box, explain that you are the author of the work and it is being sold without your permission. That's all you really need. If you want, you can include additional information that might be helpful in establishing the validity of your claim, but you don't have to go into great detail. You can simply write something like this:
I am the author of this work, which is being sold by [publisher] without my permission. I originally published this story in [date/year] on [name of site], and have provided a link to the original above. On request, I can provide documentation proving that I am the owner of the account that originally posted this story.
Tumblr media
In the ASIN/ISBN-10 field, copy and paste the ID number from the pirated copy's URL. You'll find this ten-digit number in the Amazon URL after the word "product," as in the screenshot below. (If the URL extends beyond this number, you can ignore everything from the question mark on.) Once this number has been added, Amazon will pull the product information automatically and add it to the complaint form, so you can check the listing title and make sure it's correct.
Tumblr media
Finally, add your contact information to the relevant fields, check the "I have read and accept the statements" box, and then click Submit. You should receive an email confirmation that Amazon has received the form.
Please share this information with your writer friends, keep an eye out for/report pirated works, and help us keep fanfiction free and legally protected!
NOTE: All of the above also applies to Amazon products featuring stolen artwork, etc., so fan artists should check too!

also uhmmh!! What do u think about nature !! :3
Slowly warming up to it !! I used to be kind a sun-hating "ew grass" shut-in type but then I started going hiking , camping , etc and it is actually super fun (but tiring eueue)
Aside from outdoorsy activities , I also generally like being outside (maybe except for the bugs) if the weather is pleasant !

I think the black box model of talking about complex things like more intricate systems is useful at a high introductory level but I think it cannot be the extent to which someone is explained that topic.
