Remus's Role Playing Romp

My story for the TSS Big Bang event (@tss-storytime

Remus decides he will run his own game of table-top dungeons and dragons inspired role play for the Sides.

What follows is a role play adventure with more bickering than actually fighting enemies, plans that fall parts within moments of being put into action, terribly named taverns, arguing over dice rolls, 'friendly’ fire-bolts and for some reason a grey donkey dragged along for the ride.

warning for crude language and humour, descriptions of violence towards animals(in the role playing game they fight rats), sexual language, innuendo and Remus being Remus.

Sample text: The seating arrangements were not as haphazard as Janus had expected. Virgil’s was closest to the exit (as was his preference when given the choice), next to Patton and Logan. Janus sat to Remus’s side; a helpful buffer for Patton and with respectful distance between himself and Logan and Virgil, who he could admit were not his biggest fans. Janus would have wagered on Remus arranging the group in a manner most likely to promote discord, yet he would have lost that bet.

In an effort to pretend that this was still a surprise to the group he asked, “And what is it we are doing?”

“Role playing! But the table-top kind, because I think Patton might have an aneurysm if we tried anything remotely kinky.”

Remus leered at Patton as if he would also equally enjoy watching Patton suffer internally bulging blood vessels. “I wrote a campaign! With pre-built characters and monsters and loot to find and horrible traps to slash out your shins and everything!”

Logan, walking over to his chair and sitting down, looked to Remus. “Pre-built characters? I thought one of the aspects of enjoyment of role-playing was creating your own character?” His brow looked primed to rise in question of Remus’s methodology.

“Yeah, but I figured you guys would all go for the boring, obvious options. Like Patton would be some sort of righteous paladin, and Roman would want to be a valiant knight.....” Remus trailed off, as he glanced towards the empty chair with Roman's symbol emblazoned upon it (the details of which were carved deep into the wood, impressive for the more intricate design), before returning his focus to the potential players in front of him. “So I wrote you each a different character to play. Because half the fun is getting to pretend to be someone you're not.”

Janus dragged a chair out pointedly, and took his place at the table, and Virgil and Patton followed. With all in attendance seated, Remus started to hand out character sheets.

“Papa-Patton, you'll be playing a half-orc barbarian. Big and tough, and able to batter through anything in your way!”

Patton looked uneasy.

“Like doors and crates?” he offered, hopefully.

“Like people!”

“But I do like people! I don't wanna hit them!”

“But people are gonna hit you,” Remus argued, as if he had already anticipated Patton's reluctance to conflict and practised retorts to his objections, “in the game.” he added.

okay so I just got into Sanders Sides recently, and with orange showing up in a few of the newer episodes I have a few theories to what their name might be.

(I also haven’t looked at any of the discourse yet so ignore me if these names were already out there)

Ember- ember means spark, fire, or passion, which would work great with organe since my current theory is that they are either the passion or wrath side. Also, ember is usually a warmer, orangey color. It also ends in -er which would set orange rightfully aside from the dark sides(-us), the light sides(-on/an), and Virgil(-il). The prefix em- also means to bring to or add to, and we’ve seen orange “adding to” or bringing out Logan’s emotions already.

Eris- eris is the Greek god of wrath and passion, which not only fits with orange as a side but goes along with Virgil’s pattern of ancient religious origin names. Not to mention that er- reminds me of error, which also goes with wrath. -is also doesn’t align with any of the sides, but is close to the sark sides which would make sense since wrath, and passion in large quantities, can be seen as bad.

Sanders Sides version of my OC Samael, he's very silly in this one. He mainly works with Roman and isn't particularly biased or on a good/evil sort of side, just neutral. This kinda lead to the other sides forgetting that he's actually there.. the dark sides do know tho, they kicked him out of his own space. He can show up with Janus here and there, rarely ever Remus or Patton though (it still happens just not as often).

Logan Sanders: A “Brief” Rant About My Undying Love For Him

Logan Sanders has become such an important character in my life, I really don’t know where I would be without him. Probably very similar to where I am now, but let’s not talk about that today. Instead, let’s talk about how I grew to love him, and eventually fall in love with him (to an extent).

I’m ashamed of myself when I admit this, but I used to agree with Virgil in that he was my least favourite character. I honestly found him quite boring; useful, but boring. Especially in the earlier episodes, such as “Way Too Adult” and “The Mind vs. The Heart”. However, as the series progressed, I grew to enjoy his presence, especially in “Accepting Anxiety”, though that episode focused on Virgil. Just watching him start talking at that speed with that level of tension was hilarious and weirdly comforting. I think I first started really loving the character in “Fitting In″ when he made that extra effort to make sure Virgil felt comfortable with his hair, despite despising it himself (and no one caring about his feelings, only Virgil’s). I noticed how much he cared about the others and the changes he made to himself to better suit their needs and it really resonated with me. I’ve never really had any connection or positive relationship with any of my teachers despite schools always going on about how much they care, so Logan’s subtle displays of compassion got to me emotionally.

The “Moving On” episodes were some of my favourites out of the whole series, especially rewatching them after discovering my love for Logan. His rational contributions and genuine desire to make Thomas feel better, his concern for Virgil’s situation, his suppressed joy at the idea of a new uni course, THE CAT HOODIE??? I just adore this man. I was filled with so much positive emotion when watching him in both episodes. It’s sad knowing how much he’ll suffer in the later episodes. I want to hug that man so much. I highly doubt he has ever been hugged, so he should start now. And now I’m sad. Damn it.

Though I adore his appearance in those episodes now, I think it was only when watching “Dealing With Intrusive Thoughts” that I truly fell in love with him (obviously he’s a fictional character and I’m aro ace so it’s perfectly reasonable and not at all weird). I watched as he remained perfectly calm and stable throughout the whole episode and how he basically saved c!Thomas from a huge breakdown, and I just went, “Yep. That one. I want that one.” He just looked and felt so stable and reassuring; by that point I was hooked.

I watched “Working Through Intrusive Thoughts” and I just melted by how kind he was to c!Thomas and how civil he was with Remus. Firstly, it’s one thing to watch the kindness of a person like Patton, who would do anything for anyone, and a whole other thing to watch a seemingly emotionless robot demonstrate such wholesome compassion for their friends. Secondly, he was angry at c!Thomas. Positively furious at being ignored and not having his needs met. But he still changed his actions to meet c!Thomas’s needs instead. If that ain’t love, I don’t know what love is. It was the same for Remus; Logan was becoming increasingly irritated by Remus’s deliberate taunting, but he still did his best to remain calm and establish a truce between them. He failed of course, but he still tried. That level of self control was astounding to me (especially since I have none myself), and I was truly amazed by how well Thomas (the real one) played that character. All the conflicting emotions and turmoil going on beneath the surface and how it bubbled and boiled ‘til it exploded. Ugh, he’s so gorgeous.

In short, I love Logan Sanders so f**king much I would kill god for him. He is a sexy man. A cool man. A cool, sexy man. I can’t wait to see how his character arc develops. Part of me is excited to watch him suffer and break, but also I love him so much and I don’t want to see him sad.

Love you Logan, Thomas if you read this I love you as well, you beautiful man :)
