The difference between them (kostia) “This little fic is more of a prose poem (or poemy prose?) than a story, and I love the glimpse it gives us into David and Patrick’s relationship. It quickly and beautifully captures some of what they find so compelling about each other. It’s a little bit behind-the-episode, a little bit interior monologue, and a whole lot of affectionate musing. Also, it contains perhaps the best paragraph I've ever read about “The Hike.””

It is sweet, tender, and sexy as hell. There’s really only one thing left to say: It fucking glows.”
You have no home, you have no walls (odofidi) “This is one of the first fics I remember reading that painted David in such a different, darker light with this deep pain inside of him because of his unrequited love for Patrick but also his complicated relationship with his family, causing him to make choices to try and bury it, and becoming an addict in that process. We know from the show, David had a very difficult time in NY and he always hides that hurt and his experiences behind an image of aloofness or self-depreciation. This AU really digs into that pain and how it manifests in David and leading him into a life of addiction and finding his way back with the help of his family and also his own personal strength. It’s so beautifully written and the format is so well done alternating between past and present. There’s also a companion piece from Patrick’s POV that is equally as compelling.”

Recent research has found that using your forearm could be the ideal way to control coughing fits.
The University of Leicester study looked at how sufferers of chronic cough managed their symptoms. It found that pressing on their forearms before coughing was the most effective way to reduce the severity and duration of the attack.
The lead researcher of the study, Professor Lise Linton, said that the reflex action of pressing on the forearm "activated thePause-squeeze-cough (PSC) technique, which can significantly reduce the severity and duration of coughing fits".
The research found that pressing on the forearm activates muscles in the chest and throat, which combats the coughing fit and helps reduce its severity.
The PSC technique had also been studied for its benefits in controlling coughs in bronchiectasis patients, however this study found the forearm reflex to be equally as effective in those with chronic coughs.
The researchers concluded that the evidence suggested that the forearm reflex was a simple and effective way of controlling coughing spells.
The technique can be used at any time of day, with no need for any specialist instruction. It is also not limited to a single type of cough.
It is thought that the forearm reflex technique could be useful for those who need to manage coughing attacks in everyday life. It could also provide relief from the irritation and fatigue caused by coughing fits.
