The rugged peaks of The Remarkables; the mountain range towers 2319 m above Queenstown at its highest point. We took a helicopter ride to get as near as we could to the peaks to get this view of the mountain terrain. At that elevated height, as I walked in search of an ideal viewpoint, the sound of the cold wind whipping past my ears was all I could hear. We had one of the best #sunsets of the year earlier this week in #QueenstownNZ! 😍 I had been sipping the gin from my previous post when the lenticular cloud over #TheRemarkables #mountainRange lit up in pale orange on on the left half and pale pink on the other (pic 2). The color dimmed and it seemed like that would be it for the night, but a few minutes later it exploded in a 180° panorama of bright pink (pic 3)! Pink so intense my camera’s sensor couldn’t capture it. The contrast of the dark lenticular layers against the pink got lost in the camera but was stunning in person. And the almost full moon was like a cherry on top.
