Do you like cosy British murder mysteries? I heartily recommend Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club series. I just finished book 2. I laughed, I cried, I ached, I was warmed. And I guessed whodunnit, but only because I guessed just about everyone at some point or other, because I'm a sucker like that. I'll claim it. Anyway, it's a group of four old dears in a rest home who solve murders in their spare time, and it's ever do jolly. They will bring the police in if and when it suits them, but no hurry on that front, and there will probably be cake and biscuits along the way, and maybe some of those herbal teas that everyone seems to be drinking these days, but can anyone remember whether you're supposed to leave the teabag in or out? Meanwhile, how am I going to get that blood stain out of my carpet? Such a nuisance.

As the nights get longer and summer starts to feel like it might be over, I'm beginning to turn my attention to the wonderful festive season that is the British Autumn TV Schedule! There are many things I'm excited about. If you also get excited about one or more of these things and want to chat or like make sure I'm following you or something go for it! And if you want me to use specific tags so you can make sure to avoid spoilers or seeing stuff that you are not personally excited about please let me know and I'll do my best. I don't normally watch things live as my time zone and work schedule conspire against me so I'm constantly blocking and unblocking tags and keywords.

So, as well as watching murder mysteries, I very much enjoy reading them, but I never thought of posting about the books I read here before. In all honesty, I'm not great at knowing how to write about books! But I thought I might give it a try

I recently read the fourth instalment in Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club series—a series which became an instant favourite when I read the first book a couple of years ago. And not a single book has disappointed since! Osman's style is snappy and he's able to balance wit and poignancy without ever becoming saccharine. Each character has a distinct voice, but it never feels jarring to switch between them each chapter.

And the latest book, The Last Devil To Die, might be my favourite yet! It's incredibly emotional—one part, which I won't spoil, but might not be the part anyone who's read it is thinking of, made me downright sob—but still funny and insightful and, more importantly, a damn good mystery. Very much looking forward to the new series—about a father in law & daughter in law detective duo—he teased in the notes at the end

So, we have got a top cast for 3 of the members of The Thursday Murder Club, with Joyce in negotiations, but apparently its the person people have said they want to see the most. Personally, I'm hoping for Judi Dench, or Brenda Blethin.

Not only that, but it's being filmed this summer, between June and Septemer (as said by Richard on The Rest Is Entertainment)! And all in England too!

I was so scared they'd Americanise this film, but I'm so glad they haven't.
