so the day of the casting announcement for me was also the day i found out they were making rwrb into a movie, idk how it was for other people, but before that day i hadn't realized we would get a movie

so i was just SO HYPED about getting a film at all, you know?

then we got this announcement:

and i looked at them and IMMEDIATELY went to taylor's instagram and i was like "is that the dude from the kissing booth?" (i have never seen the kissing booth before that, but i have seen people on youtube doing some of those commentaries where they make fun of every single movie under the sun for views - the person i was friends with at the time loved watching those, so i have seen a few)

and i IMMEDIATELY became obsessed with him because i thought he was the most beautiful man i've ever seen. height aside, he was pretty much what i imagined alex to look like. back then, i'm pretty sure he hasn't been in many things so i watched tkb2 & 3 for him (or mostly his and joey's scenes because i didn't like jac*b el*rdi) and i watched minx, where he was AMAZING.

meanwhile nick creeped up on me much slower - but he did have many more movies out so i also watched all of those. at the begining he hadn't been dyed blonde yet so it was a bit harder to imagine him as henry, but the second they made him blonde i thought he was spot on as well. the filming was in progress around the same time purple hearts came out so i waited for the premiere with him and the rest of the cast, because they were all SO excited for nick - they even had a watch party and they all watched it together when it came out, and on the day of the premiere they decorated nick's trailer with tiny handmade purple hearts which was super sweet and he was adorably blushy about it.

okay back to the casting announcement day.

we got the announcement and immediately EVERYONE was negative. and i'm not exaggerating. everyone said they looked nothing like the characters, they said taylor is too pretty to play alex, that neither of the boys deserves to play these characters bc they're both straight and "sTrAiGhT acToRs sHoULdn'T pLAy quEEr cHaRaCteRs." it was just CONSTANT negativity. if someone was excited they were made fun of. people would go into nick and taylor's comments on insta and say pretty bad things.

the fandom for the movie on tumblr was nonexistant tbh. there were a few people who were fans of the book and were very vocal about how awful the movie will be with those awful actors. see, people had fancasts for alex and henry and they weren't willing to let those go. even if the guy they had in mind for alex wasn't even mexican and the guy they had in mind for henry wasn't even an actor.

i was still patiently waiting for any news to come out and for tumblr to get on with the program. at the same time first updates accounts on the movie, firstprince and nick & tay started appearing on instagram so i was mostly there, having thought that tumblr will just hate this film forever. i reread the book then and having many feelings about it i went into the tumblr tag again - there wasn't much change, but there were a few people who seemed to be just as excited as i was and i would have blocked all the negative people back then.

one of the people i saw being excited about the movie and the boys was @sincenewyorks so after some time and after gathering some courage i messaged them and we talked. there were also a few other people who were being positive by then, but all in all the fandom was pretty small and people still negative especially when they found out that june and rafael luna won't be in the movie - that brought a whole new wave of hate. some hardcore book fans have already decided the film would be awful.

i was just happy to follow the boys and the rest of the cast through the filming process, a little bit here, but mostly on instagram and in private messages with like-minded people here.

fun fact: the nick and taylor tags on tumblr were practically empty by then - taylor's had a few gifs of his naked scenes from minx and a few gifs from the kissing booth. nick's tag was almost completely empty.

flash forward to the day we got the trailer. this is the day EVERYTHING changed, because the trailer came out and suddenly? all the haters went silent. (take into account the fact that i had blocked some of them already so that might also be why lol) and the movie started reaching more and more people. overnight there were a lot of gifs from the trailer and people started posting about the movie more.

in the following weeks, more and more people were talking about the movie and nick and taylor and the bad comments were mostly kept to minimum. we could all see how excited taylor and nick, but especially taylor were about the film.

the the strikes started and we were all heartbroken that the movie wouldn't get the premiere it deserved and secretly hoping the strikes would be done by the time the movie was supposed to come out, but that didn't happen, unfortunately.

then the movie came out and some people really loved it, some others said it was disappointing, there were a few really weird takes, but mostly people REALLY loved it. the fandom has already grown bigger at that point and there were many more people willing to freak out and talk about it. then people started watching nick's and taylor's previous movies as well and their tags filled out and the rest is history, i guess.

sorry that it got SO LONG omg. some people were annoying about the casting announcement, and there was a lot of negativity at first but to be honest? i still had so much fun and the whole experience will always remain in my heart as a positive one <3

I don't think people like sydney for her work or her personality. She has literally made her boobs her entire personality. And anyone but you was a success because since it's a romcom everyone love to watch and also the pr stunt sydney and Glen did for the movie . No one is really gagged after seeing that romcom so it's stupid to say she will really be next to z's level of fame and success. People went to watch 1st part of dune only because she was there .

I don't follow her that closely, so I can't speak to whether she's made her boobs her whole personality lol, but it does seem to look like she's def not uncomfortable showing them off. 😅

I mean hey, if you've got it, then flaunt it!😅🤷🏾‍♀️ Just don't be shocked and upset if when you want to do more "serious" work most ppl only want to see one thing, or don't really take you all that seriously in the industry.... 👀 Just saying....

And yea, according to Glen, that whole ABY PR stunt was all Sydney's idea rofl 🤣 😆 She didn't correct him, clap back on Twitter, or have her publicist provide a "correction" statement to the public, so I assume that he's telling the truth? 🤭 I mean... she's a smart woman if she was the brains behind that, cuz nobody was even checking for that movie until the rumors of a "romance" started swirling.

Kinda reminds me of what Joey and Taylor did during TKB2 press lol 👀 They were going haaarrrrd in the paint... to the point where I almost wondered if she and her bf (now husband lol) had possibly broken up! 😅

Re: Dune....

I think maybe Z-only stans went to see "Dune" ONLY because of Z, but for the majority of the public, I think they went to see "Dune" coz the film looked AMAZING, they like Denis as a director, they enjoyed the books, they remember the 80s film, or they love other members of the cast. Let's be honest, All-Star cast projects usually do pretty well, because there are so many people in the film that moviegoers enjoy watching. 😊

I would like your opinion on this please 🥹 I read somewhere else that according to someone "it's bad" that Taylor hasn't had any other films in 2 years and that his agent should work harder on that one. I do not agree? I mean, in my opinion it was also a conscious choice not to make films until the release of rwrb, I highly doubt he hasn't had any kind of proposal in 2 years or been able to audition. I think the fact that in these two years he focused so much on fashion was a conscious choice to make his name known around as much as possible. If we think about it, the popularity he acquired this year when he only came out with one film is very huge, so actually they worked very well and he is perfectly perceived as an actor and model despite not having had any more projects. We know we will have something in the new year and I can't wait but in my opinion the work they are doing with him now is excellent. Am I wrong? 🥲 What do you think about it?

I agree with you, it’s not bad at all.

First and foremost, because he’s doing whatever the fuck he wants and not what’s the Internet wants. Not working with or knowing him makes it difficult to know exactly all the how-s and why-s but if I had to guess, here are a few of my thoughts about it.

It’s good to remember that movies take FOREVER to be made between the initial talks and the final products. He could have signed or be in talks for things and we wouldn’t know about them before 6, 12 or many more months.

We also know that he had some heavy personal stuff going on in his family this year and I imagine that he dedicated time to his loved ones (and I hope to himself and his health) so he might not has been 100% through the whole year.

All of that being said, my guess is that it’s possible many of the projects/roles that were handed to him before RWRB were… not so good? First and mainly, because he’s so new at this. Also probably because having started as a model and being insanely beautiful very often don’t help to be taken seriously as an actor at first. Perhaps, also because himself didn’t feel confident enough in his acting skills to pursue roles that were actually good for him.

If he was tired of playing the dumb hot guy and wasn’t interested in the roles he could have taken and was growing more confident on his acting shoes with the roles he played in TKB2 and 3 and, obviously, becoming our lord and savior Alex Claremont-Diaz, maybe he became a bit more picky with the characters he wanted to play. I guess having other jobs prevented him from struggling for money so he would be right to be picky in my opinion.

The way his status changed over the past 6+ months has certainly opened more doors for him. Doors leading to many more projects without doubt. Most of them probably still being bad (but more numerous) because that's the way things are and he’s still relatively new even if he’s a big new now. And somewhere in the middle of all of these, there are probably a few exciting things might or might not become actual things. It’s a long and tiring process and if he’s being mature enough to take his time and not rush into the first stupid things just to publicly exist, it’s a very good sign. Having the choice to take time is a luxury for an actor and I sincerely wish that for him. It’ll be good for his career and his mental health on the long run.

Beside, the strike ended like 2 minutes ago and many actors/actresses didn’t announce new things since then so there is really nothing to be worry about for me :)

That, and for all we know, maybe he has signed for a potential sequel of a certain thing, meaning he’ll be busy for months ahead and working on other things could have been postponed for a while, if he made it a priority.

Sorry I tried to be as clear as possible but I’m not sure I’ve succeeded in writing down my feelings about it? I’ve rushed it a bit since I need to go butter some canapés and obviously everything is my very own opinion and not a statement of absolute truth but I hope it’s a decent answer to your question at the very least.

My rating (1-10): I only watched 2 and 3 for obvious reasons. I'd say I give TKB2 a solid 7 and TKB3 a... 5?

My favourite character: MVP Mr. Marco Valentín Peña my beloved. My angel baby boy. I also like Chloe very much.

My least favourite character: What's his name, the main love interest. Jacob Elordi's character.

The character I think I'd be friends with: Marco OBVIOUSLY, also I'd be friends with El because she seriously need some girl friends. Or at least less straigh ciswhite men friends.

Nah, I think Z and JE were still very close during March. Some anons seem to have forgotten how serious the COVID crisis was during March 2020 and that JE just has a work visa and Hollywood shut down. His country Australia also had one of the most strict entrance and quarantine procedures of the whole world. I think that the big chasm for them occured when Z got busy with work again with M&M and she was not available to talk to him at any time he wanted, so she would text and send memes. JE mentioned during his TKB2 interviews in July 2020 how the key to long distance relationships is communication and not just texting or memes, but really talking. Joey King mentioned to Howard Stern how she didn't want to date another actor because they tend to get jealous if her career is going better than hers. I think Z getting back to work and keeping a distance from him allowed her to see aspects of him that she really didn't like. Likewise, Tom leaving Kingston and going to work in Germany allowed him a different perspective about his relationship with Nadia. He really had been living a Love Island romance under highly artificial conditions and things changed when his life returned to normal

About Jacdaya still being very close in March...they are. From the pics we saw. But we don't know what's happening under the surface there, do we?

To me, most breakups really happen through a snowball effect. The M&M/ career thing might've been the final trigger for them, but there for sure were other things or factors already piling up before that. You're right, though, about the distance--that made it easier for her to say, "that's it, i'm done with this buffoon."

I understand more how to make things even more private, since it was to be imagined that with the release of the film him would become popular with the public, since the book is very famous, so I see it more as a way of separating the private from the professional.

Hmm yeah, I can see how it could be more of a separation thing between lives (I saw he started deleting stuff after TKB2), but again i just don't fully think that the only intention was to be "private", ya know?

I just don't think he needs to fully come out to understand that he's queer, but it's also not being outed... because those were once public pictures... sorry if my brain is not communicating this well

I get second-hand embarrassment when some stans start insulting Kaia under her comments in Z posts. We don't have any evidence that she hooked up with JE while he was with Z. We just know that he attended a couple of events while he was Z that Kaia also attended and he hung out with Kaia and her friends. Then when he returned from quarantine in Australia he went directly to Kaia. But it seems Z and JE had broken up at least a month before those events. These fans forget that JE had his then gf Cari visit him in South Africa in June-early July 2019 when he was shooting TKB2. Then when he returned to LA in mid-August, he went to Zs bday party and a week later he was flying to Greece to join Z in her family vacation. Just like they shouldn't comment under Zs posts calling her a cheater for dating JE shortly after he broke up with Cari (or told Z he had broken up with Cari. It's possible he ghosted Cari rather than officially break up with her), they shouldn't be doing the same with Kaia. Both know what JE really is and they've moved on with their lives

Yea girl....I knew who she was talking about also. 👀 I think Joey just was dating the wrong guy, cuz not all actors are that way (as we know), but I can see how it can be a little difficult at times when you're in the same industry.

Idk how he went from her to Zendaya though, cuz Z is WAY more famous/successful than Joey (nothing against Joey).

So if he had an issue with Joey, how on earth was he okay dating Z? 🤔

Or maybe he was dating Joey around the time when he wasn't really booking anything, and he hadn't gotten his big break on Euphoria yet.
